Necros are going to cry a lot about this. Spinning thieves as well. They are going to be Mesmer food even more now.

A lot of necros will love this change, as probably they’ll have more chance to corrupt stability (with this layer-system, I think it’ll be easier to apply, lower CDs with shorter “effect” ), and not like necros have a lot of stabi.. I mean most of us has stabi only on elite, with that looo~ng recharge time.
Okay, the change can make lich/plague less effective, but tbh it’s not so hard to strip that boon even now for a competent team
And you never know, maybe those elites will pulse stabi, like ~5/10 stacks every 5/10 sec?

Suggestion: add Airships

“Victory or Death” had moving airships, right?

Nope. Just an illusion of movement while the ship was stationary the whole time. The engine just doesn’t support it. Sure you can see other airships moving, but those are not solid, they’re just props with no platforms to stand on.

Actually VoD’s best part is the fact the ship’s not moving.. I mean did you ever summon a banner/use Ice storm on the ship?
IT WILL MOVE BACKWARD!
FLYING/RUNNING BANNERS!
Last time we did it, we had so much fun on TS while trying to outrun the flying banner.. Ohh, Zhaitan is over there? Quaggan it, the banner’s moving!
And jumping down trying to wp back before dieing is a nice #esportz mode, who can wp back later while still alive!

Yes, wvw players in pve..

Btw to say something about Airships..
The more “pvp” (not pivido, not npcs, not automated turrets, not sieges) wvw has the happier I’m, so anything that comes with more siege/automated turrets gets a big NO vote from me

Just a notice, enemy can’t take your food nowadays, Anet fixed/nerfed it

Thanks for the tip, but I can assure you it still works xD At least it was working yesterday!

Then it got reintroduced (bug?) as I clearly remember some cases where the enemy’s food tray didn’t have an “Eat!” popup ^^

@Reverence I play on Seafarer’s Rest which is tier 1 and i do expect things to be always rough as i could find players only in packs or zerg so far.
@Ultimaistanza I found my server’s forum but got problems trying to get verified…i guess people were afk or busy when i did it.

Seafarer’s Rest’s community site is pevepe.net/gw2 (as the pevepe [Futilez] community is/was a multi-gaming one, so the gw2 subforum is just a branch ) , the verification process starts with TS verification ( TS verification channel, name in mapchat, and wait for your luck to find a Staff member ^^), then you can see the Forum verification channel description, which will help you to get verified on forums..
Yup, not even a bit complicated, it was not me who made the system xD

We have guides, builds, Slackers on chat to answer questions. As long as you want to improve, we can help you, and I think it’s the same for every wvw community

Might I inquire as to why all of you that complain about the choice didn’t apply for the position yourselves? Since clearly you all seems to feel that you are much more qualified for the position it would only make sense for ArenaNet to chose you instead, right?

  • must live in the USA and be age 18 or older, for legal reasons
  • must have a Guild Wars 2 forum account in good standing with a history that includes minimal, if any, warnings or infractions

You know, a LOT of WvW players got infractions during the “Matchup-threads” era, then during the “no-word about hackers” era (I mean you said in a thread that you saw a hacker and you got infracted).

Summary of most common concerns:
Zoom Hackers/ exploiters
Server population imbalance/ broken tiers
large scale GvG
Players want loot and chests for defending, defending is non profitable, easy and boring.
Wvw is pay to win, and needs to be less pay to win.
Wvw needs to be self sustaining financially. PVe makes players money, PVP makes players money, WVW takes all players money.

People worried they are going to turn WvW into EoTM with chokepoints and treacherous heights.(* gets ill just thinking about it*) More ways to attack many different targets from different directions is much better than linear chokepoints.

People worried they are going to remove personal character customization of wvw rank points by setting them the same for all characters.
Wanting more toys and skills to fight with in wvw.

I think that petty much sums up the most of it. XD

And I believe you can copy/paste this list for the next 1-2+ years if Anet’s developing speed for WvW remains the same

I think people are misunderstanding the point of the forum specialists. Quite possibly on purpose.

3)What do you call on TS just prior to pushing into an enemy zerg?

That is of course very much depending on which server/guild/commander, so more or less impossible to answer.

He is a forum specialist.
Not a know-everything-possible-about-WvW-guy.

The WvW Specialist will be the one highlighting threads about problems, suggestions, about our feedback.
We have a Specialist who did not post a lot in the WvW subforum, so the wvw-oriented players know little about him. I don’t know (and as I see it’s similar for others) if he has all the information to select the right threads/posts to highlight, if he knows what are “our” thoughts about updates.
Maybe he’s more of a reading type forum user, not writing a lot but still knows everything.
Maybe he’s a veteran-EotM player and wants more PvE elements.
Maybe he’s a veteran GvG player who wants GvG Arena/Support in WvW.
Maybe he’s a scout/roamer/PPT/etc…

All “we” can do is ask him what he knows then decide if “we” can “support” him or not.
(Even if it means no change from Anet’s side, I want to know what kind of player is representing me.)

And what you call before pushing is thou depends on the server/guild/commander, you can get information for the style that server/that guild/that commander prefers.
(But I think most of the commanders are using the “Meta-tactics”..)

For zergs, Cele is not optimal (as most of your conditions will be cleared in seconds), same with Dire, so.. get a power-focused one :P

Personally I’m using zerker for roaming and a mixed for zergs, but if you really wanna go condi, dire-rabid mix should do it. (You’ll have enough HP with Guard Stacks, so the precision from Rabid can boost your dmg if you’re using anything crit-related [sigils, traits, food, whatever].)

SD Trait Research

Everyone who used SD know that it has some inconsistency in dmg, so I started to do some testing on Target Golems.

Results:
0) Every Hit has a chance to Crit, it’s not tied to the Bolt.
Screens 1-8)
(I believe it’s common knowledge, so 0) point. ^^ )

1) Every “Bolt” has a ~10% default RNG in dmg.
Screen 1)
[It changed in the range of 128-141 for me, but as I used the same skills only like 20 times, it can maybe go lower/higher.
I was testing them without weapons equipped, so I believe it’s the SD’s RNG and not the weapons, but I’m not sure it’s working this way in sPvP. ]

2) Every hit from the same Bolt will do the same (base) dmg.
Screens 1-8)
[Vulnerability/Armor/etc. will modify it, but the “dmg-RNG” will not change from hit to hit, it remains the same for all 3 hits of the given Bolt.]

Skill Specific Results:
I did not test all Tool belt skills yet, as I was interested in my “favorite” SD-engi skills.

Used skills are:
Throw Wrench
Surprise Shot
Rocket Kick
Analyze
Net Attack
On Screens only the first 3 are displayed, as Analyze apply the 10 Vulnerability stack for more dmg and Net Attack was only tested against Surprise Shot (both are Turret skills).

3) Every Skill has the same “base dmg” for the caused Bolt.
Screen 1) only
[Base dmg with RNG, even Surprise Shot has the same (see point 5) why it’s important ).]

4) Every Skill scales with Power the same way.
Screens 2-3)
[Surprise Shot included (see point 5) why it’s important ).
I was too lazy to calculate if it’s scaling good or not, I was only interested in the fact that they scale the same way.]

5) Every Skill scales with the Equipped Weapon’s Strength except Surprise Shot.
Screens 4-6)
[I believe this is the only reason for lower dmg on Surprise Shot.]

Screen 7-8) are not fully researched yet, maybe will test later if Rocket Kick scales badly with runes or not, but I believe it was just bad RNG. My main focus was Surprise Shot, and it did lower dmg.
I have to test Scholar more, as now it seems as Surprise Shot did not get the +10% dmg, but bad RNG can compensate for it, so for now I think it’s working.

Well, I just got it with another character again, now you can see the other rewards in the chat

The Glory Booster is weird ‘cos that time we didn’t have glory already.. And I just got it before Map Completion Reward, tied to it (got another random rewards on other maps, didn’t made screens about that).

That glory booster was put in your inventory before you got the experience for getting the vista and before you got the map completion rewards. So, you didn’t get that booster from map completion.

As for the gauntlet tickets, no other items are listed as dropping. You’d get a number of other items in your drop history if you got a reward for doing that LS step. That, combined with the extreme unlikelihood that queen’s gauntlet tickets would drop from a LS this long after that content, makes it seem unlikely that you got those as a drop, either.

Double Standards in WvW

My favorite angry-whisper came from a Stealth-based Thief during roaming, as I was using SD-Engi with Analyze , I was called playing “noobplay” ‘cos it destroyed him..
(You know, those ~20k burst (5-6k Pry Bar, I Love You!) SD engies, 6 second is enough most of the time.. ofc against good Thieves it’s not so easy, but average ones are just panicking and using every stealth skill..)
Was not even a /bow 1v1, just roaming..
So it’s perfectly fine to stealth away every 3 sec for another Backstab but playing something against Thieves is “noobplay”

My problem with running away is that not every class can do it with the same effort.. I mean as a power-necro, it’s almost impossible to get away, so I just fight ‘til death, I have no chance to run away, while every Warrior with GS can do it.
Ofc I’m not saying it’s cowardly, I just take it as I won and they had to run away. But if they come back after regenerating I’m a bit angry

I just put a SD variant together for fun without checking the meta (don’t like to use given builds, even if my though-process makes the same as meta, at least I did it on my own), and after comparing with “THE” meta, it didn’t feel so bad. (But as I’m new to thief, it’s just a feeling, I can’t get the timing right.. yet )

As I see it it’s a more “burst-oriented” variation, as it doesn’t rely on/have Might stacks (I believe with roughly the same dps over a longer time) but has less dodges/hp.

If I don’t wanna change it, all I can do is to play a burst-oriented style or it just plain bad so I “have to” play the same way as the meta build (which can dodge a lot more, so maintaining pressure/dps is easier ) but be less effective?

As Title says, we (2 man que~) queued up for unranked, I got the Pop up message and got placed in a Match, while my friend got left behind in the mist.. He didn’t got Pop-up message, nothing, I just “vanished” from there.

Reported it ingame, but as not enough time before the Match starts, I wanted to say a bit more about it, so there you go, Fix It Pls~

Basically a bomb which does dmg when dropped but you can hold it for some time to get passive benefits.
The playstyle is similar to Bombs, but well..
When you have explosive material, the first thing you can do with it (and the easiest one) is to make a keg and set it off next to an enemy.
From the player’s point of view, there’re certainly some similarities, but from the lore’s, I don’t think so.

Rangers, necros can’t do it with traps/marks, they are more like mines, and there’s more theorycraft for engineer-ritualists. (Like turrets ~ gw1 spirits, and you can even force some sense into weapon kits ~ weapon spells [http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Weapon_spell] as making extra effects for the your equipped weapon, as engineer you can’t switch weapons. But it’s a “bit” forced even for me )

And while we are at it, let us compare the Engineer’s Gear Shield with Shield Stance.

Exact same skill, except Gear Shield has a 20 second cooldown and Shield Stance has a 30 second cooldown.

You can’t look at skills in a vacuum like that to justify balance exclusively. Well you can, but that would just mean you have a very narrow mind and should never be a game developer.

Gear Shield is part of a “meele”-kit, while Shield Stance is an off-hand skill.
Warrior has another skills to get immunity (stances, thou to different degree), has another blocking skills on weapons (sword, mace), while engineer has for immunity Elixir S (and you can’t contest with it, so pretty balanced compared to stances) and shield off-hand for block/reflect.
Warrior has higher base hp and armor and can reset fights a little easier (not impossible with engi, but harder).
I believe that Gear Shield is almost the same as Shield Stance, the difference is more in the kit/offhand weapon, as your other skills in Toolkit can be very effective for a variety of builds (power, condi, control/trolling with magnet) while shield.. is maybe more niche with the ’rupt skill for warrior.
(Thou one must not forget that a kit is a utility skill slot, but acts like a weapon, kit skills are always a bit harder to compare with weapon skills.)

I can argue pro and contra for gear shield / shield stance, but I can’t really for leg mods / dogged march.. That’s why I asked about those

Warrior and Engineer are two different classes, so there’s the big difference in your analysis. You can’t treat similar/identical things between two completely different classes the same for balance.

That’s why I asked the question?

I can understand why a only-meele warrior need this trait, ofc he don’t want to be kited around..
But engineers always have a ranged weapon (and can cleanse those condis with rifle anyway), and only kits can be used as meele, so if you put in a trait that the majority doesn’t need, why is it even worse than another class’?
I mean in what kind of build would it be so OP that they couldn’t get the same version? What is the reason for not having f.e. the regeneration part? Engis have already enough access to it? They’re too strong when they have so many boons on them? Healing Signet warrior with adrenalin regen and regeneration buff is not “too much”?

I believe I did not asked for nerf/buff, did not shout “OP! NERF IT!”, just asked for reasons? Maybe my broken english made it hard to understand, then sorry.
(As it’s more interesting nowadays for me to theorycraft about balance than to play..)

Basically you can get a defensive trait in a defensive line for 2 points as warrior and a “nerfed” one (no regeneration) for 4 points in an ~hybrid (but maybe still more on the offensive side) line as an engineer.

I understand that the almighty warrior can achieve it easier than the nerdy engineer, and I believe the majority of engineers would not use it even if it required only 2 points..

But still, I can’t grasp the concept of the balance that made this decision, can someone help me with it?

I dont get badges very quickly in wvw. Then I can go through 6k badges in matter of minutes when forging superior siege.

you do get about 3x the BoH in eotm and how often do you see superior siege there? no up grades either.

so then we reach the point… sry cant upgrade, guess I need to spend more time in eotm so I can help in wvw?

I made a “suggestion” ~2 months ago, which could help the upgrading part.
Basically some tasty new badge/token which can be (but I left the gold as an optional choices if you don’t have this one) used to buy upgrade and you can only get it in wvw and not in eotm ^^

Well, they did give us a lot infractions ‘cos we didn’t use the email address which is not for reporting “skilled players” ^^

Theorem:
SFR ( ViZ was until Anet nerfed them because casuals could not beat him.) is GW2’s endboss. You have to beat him to finish the game.

No thanks. That’s a terrible idea. How is that win-win? People would have to pay real money since the gold to gem conversion is atrocious.

I believe the arena now costs “only” gold (something like 300g to start one or whatever)

Since the orb event cant be trigger by a server with a larger lead it was never my intention to have the server trying to stop the orb get anything, other than stop the event. Though your idea sounds good aswell it would really encourage team to fight aslong as possible.

I was just thinking as a fight-oriented player (PPT is well.. most of the wvw players don’t care about it already, as it’s purely based on coverage.. ), so you have to make some gain for the 1st server beside PPT ^^

But it’s just theorycraft as anet will not implement anything.. Even the old Orb would be nice at this point imo if they could spare some GM’s to Hammerstun the “skilled” players.

Good point how about instead enemy team has to retake the orb and hold it for 5-10min? This would give room for more counter play even if you lose or you can take it back and vice versa. Could also encourage open field fights away from structures.

Capture The Flag style?
f.e. if you kill the carrier the orb got dropped, you can pick it up only outside of combat (so only the blob-winner can move it again), but to win the event you have to take it to your “point” (so the closer you’re to the enemy’s point the greater the risk they will win)
And some reward for it, be it PPT or something else.

As long as it can create open-field fights without sieges, it’s good.
But if more numbers = enemy fail, it will not really affect the score.
(You have to kill the orb carrier to prevent them? Bring a 60 man blob there and he/she will be dead in 10 seconds.
You have to recap BL to prevent it? Bring 10-15 man to every BL point and you’ll get it.)

Well this will be in addition to everything else that is going on so if you have to blob to stop the event, it leave room for your team to cap stuff. You might also have people build specifically to carry the orb and help support the orb carrier.

With siege disablers, the time spent on killing the carrier is not enough to cap a keep with ~5 player inside.
And any map jump force can spare ~5 min to kill the orb carrier every hour or so

Healing stuff: The only way to outheal an 50 man blob is to blast waterfield all the way.. not impossible, but need coordination from eles and a lot hammer guards to blast it constantly ^^

SFR is not recruiting for half a year now I believe (but for months for sure), but as the players still transferred, meh..

When you speak with a guild to not transfer to SFR as there’s none to fight but they’re still there the following day.. As long as SFR will be not “Full” marked by Anet (will never happen, transfers = $$$), ppl will bandwagon there..

But then why’re they testing a stuff nobody asked for (as you can see in the other thread) and not something at least some ppl asked for in the CDI/other threads before-after (and btw the removal will not solve balance problems, will not give more rewards to scouts, so sorry but I don’t see for what problem is it a solution, besides making pvd-ing easier)?

And sorry, if all they can test is a “brainless change” (so they don’t have to think/spend time on deciding things), then it’s (another) confirmation for me that they don’t care about the problems just want to throw something to wvw to make silence.

Removing white swords should, unless the code is very weirdly constructed, basically require commenting away a couple of lines of code. It would most likely not require any sort of testing seeing as no new code would need to be added and the white-swords indicators most likely aren’t vital to (or even interacting with) other parts of the code.

‘Cos f.e. locking transfers is not flipping a boolean variable (they have it, as you can’t transfer to Full servers, and even if you have to do it by hand, thats only 2 places, 1 for EU #1 and 1 for NA #1).

Implementing something = coding, implementing into the source code.
IF you want to test it, first you have to implement it, test it internally against bugs and then roll out to the live servers to test the effects.
Meaning they have time/resource to implement it.

And I don’t believe that removing white swords is so much easier than locking transfers, adjusting transfer costs, adjusting max map numbers “for testing”.

They KNOW that there are population imbalance. But they can’t just magically press a button and fix something.

What should they do?
Force people to transfer to other servers?
Close WvW during certain times of the day?
Lower the map-limit to 30 people per server?

Random thoughts from a casual player about YoloQue:
Some day ago out of 10 matches there was at least one “afker” in ~5 matches. With the “excuse” that “My teammates are naabz, I’ll not play with them” (he couldn’t be speaking about me as it was my first game since months, so he could not know my naabishness), so he just ruined the other 9 player’s fun, or at least mine, as I couldn’t have fun regardless the fact that the afker was in my team or in the enemy.
(I’m playing YoloQue for fighting against players and not standing and waiting ’til the timer runs out..)

I can try to report him, but.. my time spent on waiting for a better match can’t be refunded. (Needless to say that as it was during “offtime”, we got the same players for match after match, so I just went to do something else for some hours hoping I can get better fights then.)

And rankings.. rank 14-15 (I still have some leftover glory booster! ), leaderboard ~500-600th (that day).. Somehow I don’t think that’s the spot I should be for the sake of my teammates who wanna get a competent sPvP player to play with and not me..

With the wardrobe though, all that stuff is fairly cheap.

The wardrobe is skin-only, and I’m using on average 2-3 different stat gear on my 8 (actually 10) chars. How is the wardrobe helping me with all those armors?
And then I did not even mentioned the weapons..
(As ascended trinkets are cheaper, I got enough to cover the basic-builds for my alts, thou switching them is annoying, I can’t afford to get more sets of the same stats..)

Ofc it’s not expensive for most players, but from WvW you get only badge of honor gear (or crafting, but that’s same for everyone), which you can’t salvage, so you don’t really want to place an expensive rune/sigil in it (and don’t even have every stat-combo).
It would be much more fun to experiment with builds if I could use the same exotic armor on more characters.

They’ve already made almost everything account bound, most of the soul bound stuff is either stupid stuff (like Dragon Bash fireworks) or pointless stuff (like level-reward gear that is mostly junk). I see no reason not to convert it all to account bound.
