It always amazes me why do MMO developers continue to design unplayable mess ?

Massive PvP in current MMOs goes like this (to name just a few):

Age Of Conan ? ROFL (no need to say more, still runs like crap 4 years after release)
WAR ? Unplayble choppy mess.
RIFT ? Unplayable choppy mess.
STO ? Unplayable choppy mess.
SWTOR ? ROFL. They complelely removed open world PvP. The engine is that badly optimized.
EVE Online ? Time dilatation made is SOMEWHAT playable, but it’s still a laggy mess.
Guild Wars 2 ? Unplayable choppy mess.

Seriously when will developers learn ?

Before anyone asks: my rigs were always way… WAY past recommended specs for any of the above mentioned games.

I played most of these games with no problems at all..Besides rift and swotr.Btw when will you learn that packing hundreds of people together in one server in the same area fighting each other creates lag,and your fps Will drop,no matter what game you’re playing.Gw2 does a pretty fine job tbh espec in wvwvw the lowest fps i get is 26,and thats when assaulting or defending,everything still maxed out.

I think you might be falling for an optical illusion that is caused by playing in the 3rd person.

Try turning Vsync OFF if it is on, this is one of the most common causes of mouse lag.

If your talking about the delay when you first look around a freshly loaded zone, its probably your hard drive causing a momentary bottleneck and killing your framerate, giving you a false-positive when it comes to mouse lag.

It’s no optical illusion,the game does use mouse smoothing,usually i kinda dislike it but thats more in a FPs.In mmo kind games i dont have a problem with it,but indeed it would be great for other people to disable this setting if possible since it can be quite annoying if you dont like it.

@HOPE, You dont use vsync when you have a low fps or when you lag,you do the quite opposite actually……you use vsync when your fps is mostly higher then your refreshrate >60+fps to have stable gameplay.And Vsync is there to Remove the tearing instead of create it,if the problem worsenes,then you shouldnt be using vsync at all since you cant reach the fps that matches your refreshrate.

Tried changing the sound options ? The quality and Latency ? And set it to your soundcard instead of the default.

Because wow runs on a completely different engine and looks like crap compared to gw2.

Some other command line parameters that people can add after the target line that may help figuring out whats the problem.

-diag

Creates, at startup, a detailed diagnostic logfile which contains data about connection tests and hardware information, located in your game directory or “Documents\Guild Wars 2” (NetworkDiag.log). Useful for determining what is wrong when Guild Wars 2 is not functioning properly.

Important: The program terminates after the logfile is created; since Guild Wars 2 will not be able run with this parameter on, make sure to remove it once Guild Wars 2 has finished creating the logfile.

-perf

Displays performance indicators such as; Triangles, memory usage, frames per second and transfer rate in bytes per second are displayed in multi-colored text in the middle of the right side of the Guild Wars 2 window.

Allows the game to use Nvidia CUDA processing if available.

Start the client, checks the files for errors and repairs them as needed.

Forces the game to download all known updates.

I haven’t held down that right button ever. I came from Tera online and they had amazing controls and combat which I tried my hardest to emulate.

Here’s the fix

Third party software “X-mouse button control”
how to do it:

1. install and open software
2. click on Add in the lower left corner, link to GW2.exe and select it after you made it.
3. open the pull-down menu behind “right button” and select simulated keys
4. enter {RMB} in the field and select “8 Sticky…” and hit ok.
5. click “Apply” and you are done and no changes need to be made in game.

Now just right click to bring up the mouse and right click again to make it go away. Basically allowing you to free cam and only click if you need to target a spell or player/npc. Enjoy

3th party software to control your mouse into letting it do things while your not pressing any buttons.I wouldnt advice people to use this,unless you want your account banned.

Standing where your pet aggros a spawn certainly does not require a bot.

Standing with skills on autofire does not require a bot — Just a control right-click with a standard mouse.

There are bots for the game, but they don’t look anything like the behaviors described here — they’ll move around, navigate the zone, pick up loot, and look more like a person playing than a person afk.

I know the person isnt a bot,but the thing she was doing is considered botting.She was not behind her keyboard,yet place her char + pet near mobs to kill them so she gain ex without being behind the pc.Ok,if then can i have a pet that kill things aswell while im at work to gain some xp ?

Btw i forgot to add,that she did pick things up,probably stuck something between her keyboard on the pickup button.

I’m standing here for 10 minutes straight watching this person ( who’s name ive removed in the shot ) in Fields of Ruin – SniperWoods and this ranger is not moving,not using skills standing strategically placed next too one mob,just far away so that it doesn’t attack him and letting his pet keep killing it over and over and over.I know this isnt really botting but,tell me this isn;t allowed right ? Letting your char stand overnight next to a mob letting your pet kill it..Imo is botting.So i don’t know if i should report this person or not..

Btw i just noticed this pet was getting attack by 3 mobs,and it just killed them all easily.

Still its not good advice to tell people to oc their gpu by 100mhz,and the point is definetely that it can damage your hardware.And again you dont overclock the mem clock to get a perf increase,its about the core clock.The mem clock is not needed to be touched and usually degrades performance,especially when oc’d this high.People can get pixelated screen from your great advice.

I am having the same problem, nothing wrong with my hardware as I can play every other game in the world without issue. My problem started out as a constant driver crash (HD4870) that would result in a frozen black screen. I could alt+ctrl+delete my way out but soon it turned in to bsod on every crash.

I followed someones advice in another thread and turned character animation to low and unchecked high res character models and that seems to have helped but I still experience the issue in roughly 50% of my sessions in GW2. I have tried the last 8 set of official drivers, underclocked, overclocked, and standard clocked card, and I have increased the fan speed to max (and monitored the temp) just to ensure no over heating issue. Don’t have my error codes to post up as I am at work but the situation sounds identical. Everything can be fine for hours and then suddenly while chopping a tree or just standing still I freeze and get the bsod.

Overclock you card by a mere 100mhz on core clock and memory clock, and in game set any graphic options you prefere, BUT under resolution set the game to Windowed Fullscreen mode, that helped me stop the crashing and I am playing for over 5 days now without a crash!

Extremely BAD advice,no offense but dont go randomly tell people to overclock their gpu,btw 100mhz is Alot for a gpu,espec in a system with bad airflow.This can actually make things wors for people,and add alot of extra heat.Btw ocing the memory clock is usually Not recommended.

The message goes away so quickly because you’re pc is set to Automatically restart on a system failure.To change this so you can read and tell other people the bsod you’re getting so you can get some proper help,do the following.

Go to control panel and open up System,Then under the Advanced Tab press Settings.Then at the bottom of the new tab under System Failure you need to Uncheck Automatically Restart.Now whenever you get a BSOD the blue screen stays untill you power off your system,wich gives you time to write down the code.

You say the oc on your gpu was the fix ,but on the bottom of your post you have OLD —> NEW ram.That could have been the issue aswell as that kingston ram you had wasn’t that great compared to corsair’s.

I would love duels implemented, but nothing like this. As people have said the game is not meant to be balanced 1v1 and giving rewards for winning 1v1 combat will be exploited like crazy.

@ venn,the game Is balanced,it all depends on your build and skill,and again..this would really let people test their skill and get more experience in fighting different types of classes 1vs1 and making them learn what skills,weapons traits would be best for fighting against another class.

It gives players the opportunity to really test their skill instead of randomly zerging,and giving the players some glory points for it instead of doing it for nothing,or any other reward they can come up with would be fine.People always try to exploit everything,like afk leechers for instance.Btw they already have a 1vs1 in Gw1.

This is not a hefty boost at all,from 17 to 35fps with 2extra cards should triple the fps.

Sorta..it works but not optimal though,still needs some tweaks hoping nvidia will add in the next driver.

Fine, something is wrong with my PC. I’m willing to accept that, but what is it? I had none of these connection issues during the betas or stress test. So why now? One of their suggestions is to open four TCP ports. Were those ports not used during the betas, because it didn’t seem to be a problem then. Said to remove our various protection software. That didn’t fix it, had that on during the betas too and there was no issue then. So what changed? I recently had my computer checked out, cost me $75 to be told that nothing was wrong just needs tad more space yet isn’t overheating even at present. So hardware wise everything is fine and unchanged. Only new software is this game. See where this is going? Only one change has happened, the game. If it’s some incompatibility, so be it, but tell me what it is. Yes, at this point I do expect that from Arena.Net, and I expect them to tell me how to fix it. I have three friends playing the game and they have no issue, so yeah, it does make sense that maybe part of the issue is with my PC, but considering my pc didn’t change during the time of the betas up through the launch, it’s fairly reasonable to assume that part of the issue is also something Arena.Net has changed.

Nvidia control panel is automatically installed whenever you install a driver for your gpu,thats needed to run Any game.And that option isnt even there to begin with.

@OP Maybe try a full reinstall for your mobo + gpu drivers etc and update DirectX.

Sorry to say but if you keep on crashing again and again and again,you cannot just keep on blaming GW2 for it.You do realize thousands of players are playing as of this moment without crashing right ?

Try disabling reflections,this is for me the Only setting that will give me,as you describe stuttering.Its not that my fps drops,it stays about the same but my game just stutters,set to none or terrain + world only.

You can try to repair your client by doing the following.

Make a shortcut from your GW2.exe,rightclick on it and select properties and in the target line add -repair to it so the line says “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair .If you now start up the client it will repair your client if needed.Remember to remove the -repair line when done otherwise it wil do this everytime you launch.

You won’t beat an overclocked 2600K in gaming. You just won’t. Not unless you’ve managed to do something that no benchmark site has managed.

You should talk from real world gaming performance,not benches done against FX’s that arent being oc’d,because that are what most benches show.I know because i beat a friend of mine who has a 2600k,and his temps rises like its wanting to set his house on fire when trying to oc the 2600k,70c+. Yet im going from 3.1 to 4.6 just by upping the multiplier to 23.x on 1.4V and my cpu stays around 50 under full load and blasts away anything i throw at it.Trying to give his 2600k a stable oc was a already a pain without the insanely added heat.

Well,not really actually i beat a 2600k easily with my fx 8120 oc’d to 4.6.Fx are made to be oc’d,at stock they are crap i agree,but its not about stock speed with these cpu’s.

Benches are done with No OC on AMD,FX cpu’s need to be Oc’d to match intels performance or even surpace it.

Your using the wrong targeting button if you target friendly’s,check the key mapping options menu to make sure you only target enemy players.

I only use Vsync if my FPS is always 60+,If not then the drops into 40 50 can be pretty noticable and annoying,in this game i have it always disabled eventhough my fps ranges from 50 – 110 it does occasionaly drop into 40 and with vsync on i get alot of stuttering and this makes the game feel slow.

Always a good idea. Screw that beta stuff. Step 2: Use the recommended setting for your system and adjust from there. Where do you find the recommended setup for your system? Run ‘Auto Detect" in Graphics Options. It was put there for a reason. Use it. You’re looking for the optimum balance between eye candy and FPS. Not every game has to be turned all the way up all the time. Besides, the human eye can’t tell the difference much beyond 50 FPS anyway.

I know this,i myself suffer from lower fps then expected and my sli isnt working properly,can also be that nvidia\’s to blame.But the crashing is usually a combination of the games engine,drivers,and Your hardware.Again,i still have not yet once crashed,crashes can be due to a million things,why wouldnt your hardware be one of the things possible creating the crashes ?

If using a ranged weapon, the clone will act as a human shield for your targeted player if they’re standing in the way. Which also selects the clone/minion.

I know it’s very frustrating using scorpian wire to rope in a running necro back to me, only to nab his/her minion instead because it was in the way, even though I had the necro targeted.

I have no problems with not being able to shoot around clones/minions. But losing the target lock completely adds to the frustration.

This i agree with,if only they could make it so the tab would skip pets or minions,its enough that target changes when fighting players,but having to skip through 5 minions and 3 pets and 3 clones is a sure way of losing the fight.

Actually,even for people who arent colorblind it can be diff to see wich enemy you have targeted,I also rather set the bar colour myself,or atleast change the colour of the Bar above a enemy’s head when you have selected him.Going from red to Blue or Yellow for ex would make it a hell of alot easier to see who it is you have targeted.Sometimes its just a chaotic mess with all the spells and effects and clones and people teleporting and all the minions and pets around.

Your Definition of perfect differs from mine obviously,when you actually spend some money on a pc you know what i mean.And no,there’s nothing wrong with my system,optimized to the bone.Its a fact that the engine runs slower on systems that should be able to run it flawlessly,plus sli not working ,something you dont know since you have a laptop with no sli.I average around 50 – 110,but still thats not perfect for me,i know it can do better.

Im not color blind but i also agree with this,its a shame they didnt think of this sooner,many people are colorblind but do want to play games,and playing it like this makes it pretty hard for them.

I agree it Can be pretty frustrating espec if you got a necro running around aswell with his minions,and then suddenly you see your using your best skills on one of his minions eventhough im sure i didnt change targets,or suddenly just lose all targets while im just hitting someone..I dunno but this is pretty annoying at sometimes,and then thiefs poppinig in and out and mesmers with their teleport bs can make it a rather chaotic mess at some times.To clarify,in guild wars 1 i Always knew exactly what i was doing and why i was doing it,here..my char is not so sure what hes doing.

I rather not put them in my friendlist at all,ill just save the messages so i can block them in the future,if they havent been banned already by then.My q is,Where do they get the names from ? I mean ive gotten messages from people i know i havent seen anywhere,with the stranges names.Do they have a list of player names or something ? If so how did they acquire this ?

You probably used a 3th party tool to connect to the guild wars servers on a proxy ( dont even know if using proxys is allowed )..But anyway a 3th party tool is seen as a hack usually..Just submit a ticket in the hope they understand your problem.
