I’ve got an immortal bombs build for solo WvW. Imagine it works the same in pvp as a bunker, and in WvW zergs, as frontline support. Build in my sig.
With exotics you have to acquire mats and level crafting to make them, or spend gold on them. Why not use the laurels he already has laying around that will not be used for anything else any time soon and acquire them.
I am unclear how “your” having alts is relevant to the OPs question at all. Or how it relevant to whether or not you get ascended gear on your main. Particularly when he has laurels he is not doing anything else with.
What i was saying is since i have a lot of alts, i dont really like wasting laurels. Yes its not technically a waste, since there is still a stat increase, but you get the most bang for your buck stat-wise on pieces with crit dmg.
Anyways OP, here’s what I’d do. Use your karma for exotic rabid trinkets.(Dwayna, i think). Buy rabid armor with your remaining karma. Buy berserker ascended accessories with your laurels. Then using your tears/badges, buy soldier/berserker. You’ll end up with LOTS of different builds you can run, just from those 2 sets of gear.

Yes

Bumping just because i edited the OP and added another separate version of the build. Tell me what you guys think!
I just turned 80 a couple of days ago and I am really struggling as how to spend my karma (450k) and laurels (95), badges and tears… and where’s the best place to farm gear. Dungeons in GW2 are not that fun, so I was thinking fractals and WvW
What stats are you looking for? That is the first thing you need to decide. Do you want to be tanky direct damage, tanky condition damage, glass cannon burst damage, debuff/condition solid damage ? Give us some direction and we can tell you where to find everything.
My first reflex was to buy jewelry with my laurels but I was told it’s not worth it, is it true ?!
It was absolutely the right reflex. Once you decide what stats you want the Laural purchased jewelry is the best you can get. Find who ever told you it was a bad idea and kick them in the shins, and remember to question anything they ever tell you again……
For karma, I was thinking of heading to Ruins of Orr and getting myself a rabid set, is that good ?
Any advice welcome
ThanksRabid set isn’t bad at all. If that is what you want to go with, you can buy complimentary jewely from the laural vender (and don’t forget to kick your frield that said this jewelry was a bad idea.)
Actually since i have lots of alts, and not many laurels, i only get ascended trinkets for accessories with crit dmg on them, since they give the most stat increase than other stats. To clarify, with full exotic crit dmg gear, you can get +104%. With ascended, you can get +115%
To start out if say get a rabid/dire set, and a zerker/soldier set. How you acquire them makes no difference.
You can open the TP from anywhere in the world and sell stuff. Clear inventory.
I’d say engineer. But im pretty biased towards them. And i heard somewhere theyre trying to get the hide back piece option to hide Engi kits as well. Now, why play an engineer? We’re easily the most fun. We have the highest skillcap. We also have lots of build diversity. I have 2 engineers, one human, one asura, thats how fun they are. Im also working on getting the legendary rifle the predator for my asura.
ya im really noobish, im sure i will figure it out in time. Do you always have food with you?
Also i have been thinking a lot about the build and i came up with a variation:With sigil of battle/noble runes/ and enhanced performance you can gain an instant =9= stacks of might right at the start of battle just by swapping to med kit and back.
Last 10 points in traits can be spent however.
Might stacking is more reliable i think.Let me know what u think
Everyone uses food in WvW. Its especially condi builds. +40% duration is really good.
bunker builds dont really suit my playstyle i wouldnt mind trying them out but i dont have the proper gear for it i dont think.
Also you should check out the unkillable elixir bomb build by carpboy
I’m famous….
Leveling, WvW, or PVE? Im assuming WvW since you said Zerg.
I really like the remorseless and LB change. Would make zerker LB/GS really powerful.
That super tanky troll build is in my sig. The high burst one shot build people use actually doesn’t involve grenades at all. It looks something like this.
You can get 30% + extra dmg %. Toolkit and rifle turret are mandatory, but the third can either be rocket boots, utility goggles, or battering ram. There are some variations, but thats the most common and effective. Search youtube for “Gw2 engineer burst”
Realistically though, this is what you’d want to run.
Edit: Tanky regen ranger not work out for you?
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
Honestly. Everyone would just buy commander tags. What happens when EB is full of commanders, but then another guy with a commander tag tries to join the map. Does it just randomly kick one of the 100 other “commanders”?
My current HGH build. Do you think juggernaut is overkill? Could i swap it for elixir C, or tool or bomb kit?
I just discovered this build and tried it out. I have a few questions.
How do you deal with mass conditions like necros and other engineers? You claim it can beat every class and build yet these 2 builds just destroy me.
Also, how do handle the constant stunning/knockbacks that’s currently popular with no stability and 1 stun breaker?
Do you have any videos of your playstyle? I’m fairly new to bombs and have ran HGH for the longest time and I thought I’d try something different. I enjoy this build but I seem to have better luck with my previous one so I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong. Majority of my 1vX fights consist of getting stunned/feared/knockbacked to oblivion.
Thanks.
Idk. Just dodge, you have perma vigor. Really get good at kiting. Even though bombs are melee, you can still kite just out of melee range. Remember to swap kits constantly. Im never in one kit for more than 5 seconds. Necros are pretty tough for anyone. Just try to use LoS and blinds effectively. Also protection injection FTW.
As for winning 1vXs only against bads and uplevels, everyone knows it is literally impossible to win a 1vx against people of the same skill level. I didnt say i win every 1vX, but i do win a fair amount. You still have to play smart. Unlike a warrior.
If i made a video, youd see me dodging pretty much whenever i can, never really staying above 50% health, never dipping much below 20% either, applying all the soft CC and kiting melee, and swapping kits every couple seconds.
I had a much better day today. instead of being in their faces like I thought I should be I tried the kiting around and it went way better. Now I see what you mean.
Thanks for the build!
That really is the key. Alternatively, you could swap sigil of hydromancy for energy.
Im also curious, i REALLY wanna get bolt for my charr. How much gold/time can i expect to invest for it? Or should i wait for precursor crafting or the new legendaries?
We’ve actually got some of the best downed abilities.
Also quick Q. Is there such thing as a healing shatter build. With 1200 healing power. (Yeah you give up a lot of dmg for that, but whatevs) and Restorative illusions, you get healed for 5.5k whenever you shatter. Combined with 30 in illusions and you basically have 5.5 heals.
What if i used something like this? Yeah the damage will be a lot lower than your average shatter build. But you can heal like crazy. Plus 1600 toughness and 18k health.

Wanting to make a charr Mesmer cus Warband Support + clones = fun in WvW. Curious to see light armor charr.
Ask the ranger forums. If you go condi, completely forget about power. That means get rid of the ruby stuff. You can build an extremely tanky condi ranger with a 10 0 30 30 0 build. Use full dire armor and trinkets with Sw/T and Axe/D. SoS, stone spirit, and sun spirit. You have pretty much perma protection, 2200 toughness, 24k health, and 1900 condi dmg.
Necro is best condition damage easily, but it has almost no mobility or support. But engineer is a close second, with a lot of mobility and supportive abilities. Rangers also can put out lots of condition damage while still being extremely tanky. Warriors can do decent condition dmg builds, but not as much dmg as the three above. Mesmers as well can put up good condition dmg, but are reliant on clone-death.

There are about 0 charr mesmers out there – make one, they are stylish as kitten
Also they use the Gs with one hand, like a DOOM AT YOU-scepter
I think i will end up with a charr Mesmer. Just because its so odd. And you can have like 6 npcs with you
About builds, im thinking this phantasm build to start out.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQRAsa8clwzip3QTqGaNJy5DRHaGYn3RqgqVSBvdhA-jECBYfFRjmCAjsQhmKIQJPFRjtMsIas6aYaXER1yAovFA-w
Obviously the toughness is low, but i can look at guides and min/max later.
Im also interested in eventually a stun lock build. I dont really know how that works though.
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
Hi guys. I recently decided i want to make a Mesmer. I already known theyre late bloomers when it comes to leveling, since this will be the third one ive tried. Any leveling tips would be appreciated, but im probably just gonna stack power with GS and Sw/F.
Im also having a hard time choosing race. Asura are so cute and little and fit the whole Mesmer theme i think. But i dont know how light armor looks on them. Then theres charr. Whats scarier than a charr Mesmer using warband support? Plus Mesmer and charr are like exact opposites. I could see that being a really fun character. But charr and pretty much any armor……yeah….then theres sylvari. I think they have the coolest cultural, and also are probably the coolest looking mesmers. I treacly like all the different color combos you can make with them.
Once i hit 80, i wanna do a shatter build, a condi build, and a phantasm build. I pretty much only solo WvW, so none of this “berserker or die” crap in PVE. If i ever feel the need to run a dungeon ive got my guard. Any advice on what gear i should get first and what build would be greatly appreciated. Any Mesmer tricks and tips would also be helpful
anyway, thanks for reading this far, and have fun mesmering.
I use the SE shoulders and helmet, CoF gloves with WvW chest and Orr pants. I use midnight olive/walnut dyes. I’d post a screenie but im on my phone.
That’s what the forums are for, silly!
And to a lesser extent, YouTube.
That was great. Thank you.
Here’s a really tanky condi build. Not really any regen, but perma protection and 24k health.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQRAnY8fjEVd1lVGWo2BiVBA1ekJzjJ3jS5/TlyPiyTVA-jECBoODimWAgkGm8IiZSFRjtaqIasKZER1qbYCBsYOA-w
Also worth noting that bonfire will do 50k dmg, if they stay in it the whole time. So try to save the spider CC for when theyre inside it.
If youre looking for a tanky regen condi build, look at the sticky for Faux’s RRR build.
Thought I’d add in this as well. Dont become corrupted like the rest of the forums into thinking we suck. We don’t, and are actually in a pretty good spot right now, other than some pet issues.
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
Apothecary has no build diversity. Id say to start get a rabid/dire mix and/or a soldiers and berserkers mix. If you are ever looking for an apothecary build tho, its in my sig.
yo Dawgs, i was running something similar way back that uses cleric gear, is that still viable? or cond is the way to go these days?
You could probably get away with a power cleric version using some form of GS, LB, Sw/Wh or Sw/Da. Kinda depends on your play style. I just prefer condi builds since you only need one stat for damage(condition dmg) which allows me to build a lot tankier since i only need 1stat for dmg, the other 2 can be defensive. Power builds need power, crit, and crit dmg. So in general condition builds are tankier while dealing more Dmg. Thats only for WvW/stpvp. For pve just use full zerker Sw/Wh, spotter and frost spirit.
For an incredibly tanky build, check my sig
Are you sure he wasnt asuran? The x4 perplexity has a 15 sec ICD, so sneak attacks multi hit would only pric it once. Pain inverter is exactly 3 stacks.
Any thoughts on the second link i posted? Seems like a very tanky condi build. Unless spirits arent really that great for solo WvW. Bonfire will do 50k dmg if they stay in it, which probably won’t happen much, but if you use the spider stun and your cripple/chills at the right times you could probably keep them in there awhile.
I know shortbow can be good for stacking bleeds, but my main problem with it is i can either use torch or dagger, not both.
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
Think ill try doing away with BM line if you guys think u can still have top regen without it, only thing i see is that’s 300 HP you’re gonna lose, thats a lot!
Then dont complain about having to put 30 points into it.
And just cause i saw you say something about bow rangers. 30 30 10 0 0. Use full zerker with ruby orbs and LB/GS. Honestly, people will tell you all day “i eat glass rangers for breakfast”. I’ve died like 3 times in the past month running full zerk on my ranger. If things get hairy all you do is about face LR, and Swoop. Grats on the 2000 range. Being glassy is all about playing smart and situational awareness. High risk/high reward. Plus you can take camps in like 20 sec or less.
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
If he was asuran then Pain Inverter. Or x4 perplexity.
For 1vX, build in my sig. THE best 1vX imo
Asura master race.

EDIT: I was about to say you linked a ranger build lol. Nice edit.
Hehehe
btw boons, youre the guy who got me interested in playing burst guardian. Lots of fun! No one expects guards to put out damage like that either.
Running the build seen in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSTe9PxId3s
Also me and my guard friend run this same build, and win 2v2’s, 2v3’s and 2v4’s all the time. When my condi warrior friend joins us, we can do 3v6’s, 3v7’s by targeting theI rarely lose 1v1’s. Be it, the general skill across WvW players is not very high. But, I have learned that the best way to counter any type of class, is to burn em down quick and cause them to pop all their tricks early, just to keep from being bursted down.
key members in a group and bursting them down at the start of the fight. Caution, to run this build, you better know the guardian class like the back of your hand. It is not a tanky build, you must be crafty once you pass the early phase of the fight.can u link this build with traits, etc ? Please
He runs 10 30 30 0 0. Full zerker with valk weapons. I run a similar burst build, but with a bit more survivability. I think its a good place to start.
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
Also curious, how are Spirits in solo WvW? Assuming something like this, tons of soft cc, extremely tanky with 24k health and nearly 2200 toughness. Plus 1900 condi dmg. I dont really know how not using sharpened edges would affect my damage, but i cant see it being that much. You also have LOTS of protection, and with 30% boon duration I’d even go so far as to say near perma, as long as you dodge and stuff.
Alternatively, if i took 30 out of nature magic into Beastmastery, how would that play out? Is there such thing as a power Beastmastery build?
Looking for something more capable of slowing the enemy and whittling them down over time as opposed to thief style of burst and get out, then come back.
Any classes capable of killing with aoe condi and cc? Using traps on the ranger was fun, just wasn’t enough to get kills.
Thieves have condition builds. P/D the stealth attack does 5 stacks of bleeds. And when you dodge you leave caltrops which cripple and bleed. You also have tons of torment. Cool thing about thief conditions is theyre short duration. That means people have a harder time cleansing them, and you get every second of DPS. Ask the thief forum and search YouTube for a good condition build. Laela Blackbird is a good one.
What gives me trouble? A good p/d thief will make me struggle.
Im sorry
Its Anets fault, but lets be honest p/d is almost obsolete at this point, everyone and their brother is easymoding d/p and plex runes. I refuse to change to that crap!
Ya, a real man hides in stealth and has degen do his killing for him, right?
Lmao, what does a condition build have to do with being a man.
Still wanna see more charr rangers!
Im wondering if BM/trapper build is a good build for solo WvW. Im assuming its look something like this
I was originally thinking SB, but its pretty garbage. I honestly dont know what its meant to be used for anymore. 21k health is pretty high too. And just look at the Lynx’s f2. So beautiful.
Hi everyone. To get right to the point, i have 13 chars, 9 of which are 80. Since i could never get anything done a week ago i decided i would just focus on Warrior and Thief(best of both worlds, both awesome at roaming, if i want to Zerg warr). But everytime i visit another classes forums and see a build, or watch a video, i think “huh, that’d be fun to try out” but i dont have time to gear up for different builds all the time. I dont know what to do. Really i just like to roam WvW solo, occasionally do a tournament with a guild group or something. Here is what i know i like: High mobility burst classes(go in, kill and stomp, get out) so thief. I also like heavy armor in this game, and being really tanky. (Warrior) I also really love condition builds, so i was thinking a condition warrior. But then i also really like pet classes(Ranger) since even when you’re solo, your never alone. I also like naming my pets stupid, quirky things,(like Jagswag). Many people also ignore pets since they dont think they can do that much damage.

As does kiting the pet.
The build is 0 0 30 10 30.
No one uses shouts.
sigil of geomancy and malice in each.
These are the part may noobness to rangers doesn’t understand.
The pet appears to suck why do you care if it dies, what does it actually do? especially regen build?
The 30 in beast master that all seems a waste, that #12 is regen for the pet not you, right?
The shouts would seem easy to use with little invested, grab protection and put 10 points in to 1 trait line, and you would have continuous regen.
Geomancy, what’s the need for this bleed you already have so many conditions?
dway runes? I saw one guy using 3 different sets that gave total of 45% boon duration that would effect regen and of course all your other boons?
Again I really don’t know what I’m talking about so please let me know why I’m wrong, Thanks
- in beast mastery does affect you. It does heal your pet more though.
Running lynx is good because cats have really high precision and the lynx f2 is a couple bleeds. 20 in beast master gives a trait where cats bleed on crit. Not “chance” to bleed on crit, if they crit it will bleed. 30 in beast master really makes your pet hits like a truck. The reason people complain about pets is they need to trait beasmastery for them to be good (imagine that). Most RRR’s(roaming regen rangers) will apply soft CC (cripple, chill etc) and evade and leap regening health around with conditions ticking on you, while their pet is hitting you. Honestly most of the damage is your pet. The conditions you cause are just icing on the cake.
X6 Dwayne runes arent for +regen duration, but its definitely cool. Its mostly there for the #4 and #6. You don’t even apply any boons other than regen anyway. You wind up with a +63% regen duration as well
Have you ever played a condition build? There is no such thing as too much conditions. That and theres really no other sigils thats be better.(except maybe energy, but at the cost of a good chunk of damage) Loo at the link someone else posted. Also Xsorus has a good video on YouTube about it. Watch it.
Most other classes have a super regen build like this, each with their own strengths. Wars give the most HPS, engis have most CC (hard and soft), rangers is that they can actually have burst, since pets have separate stats.
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
Uh…dont use bombs. ESPECIALLY if youre already 30 in explosives. Just drop bombs, grab grenades. Toolkit is really good for kiters, cripple and pull, and EG has a cripple. You don’t need to trait a kit(except grenades) for them to be good. Waste of a trait most of the time.
Somewhat unrelated, but the build in my sig is really good at kiting people around. Pretty similar play style to what you’re using too, except tons of healing.
Oh this is for spvp… The traits on mine are still good. But it won’t have the same survivability or damage as in WvW since you only use an amulet. Also, run a scepter. Please. Just try it. Everyone says its horrible and it gets passed on. The #3 is perfect for setting up a big burst and the # 2 is awesome when fighting thieves or using #3 right when theyre in the middle of it. Or in a big teamfight just drop #2 in the thick of things. Seriously. Scepter is my favorite weapon for guards actually, with sword and focus a close second and third. GS is poopy for the build i posted anyway since it really relies on the crit from RHS.
