The team that worked on this has been stated to be quite small, hence the lack of skins for pistols, rifles etc
If it took away from the development time of anything, it was likely a tiny, tiny loss.
We’re also still getting more content this month, the next part of flame and frost.
Have not noticed a difference related to team score myself.
Having something good and then taken away, the absence doesn’t only make it grow fonder, but grows anger as well. They will want it back. Need only see the reaction of City of Heroes fans to understand an inkling of what that is like. Despite my love of GW2, the hatred of NCsoft still runs hot for me and there are many that won’t touch another game published under NCsoft because of it.
………I don’t think you can really compare the closure of a game that came as a surprise to even it’s developers to a small event that will come back at various times in the year, possibly with new additions.
I’d support this change personally.
But how do i get 50 Baubles if this is the end, repeating the other?
Do it again on another character, gather normal baubles inside the box or from chests in the other maps (the charr starting map is good for this), or you can wait for the daily reset and do it again for the rewards.
I recall 2 of the shops in the swamp zone have the bag that costs 250 baubles. One is right before the toad king and the other his hidden behind a poison waterfall with lily pads leading to it.
The normal cap is 250, or 500 if you have bought the bag inside the box.
However, if you enter with more then your cap, it will still allow you to use them all, you just can not collect anymore till you drop below your cap.
That seems to be your situation.
Anyone who says this is jumping the shark has no clue what jumping the shark actually is.
Create new char-> go to your home city-> go to LA -> go to rata sum-> do sunny glades and cahs in the 2 bauble bubbles-> delete char-> create char-> etc.
and enjoy your ban that is sure to follow
If they haven’t banned people (and I believe even stated that they do not care) for doing that for free blc keys, they won’t start banning people for this.
ITT: OP making thread about dungeon requiring 5 people, without first verifying that said dungeon doesn’t require 5 people.
PS: me and one friend beat the Frog King last night. I’m sure some people have soloed him.
I confirm he can be soloed, quite easily in fact. Just did it, his health scales based on how many players are in the instance. Less players=less health
That’s weird the only people that play bells on my server are really skilled at it :p
I’ve noticed this as well actually >_>
Am I seriously the only 22 year old who has played and enjoyed 8 bit classics AND seen those “so terrible it’s hilarious” commercials?
Seriously?
I shed a tear for my generation.
OMG realy can’t understand people like you….can you just relax? Grumpy cats everywhere….
I get the feeling that there are people out there who get payed for posting stupid stuff like that.
There are actually people who get paid to defend something religiously
There are also people who get payed to attack something religiously however.
Jumping is easy for me, sorry but either it’s you or it’s your keyboard/computer.
Possibly through out the month? Not sure if it has been stated as of yet.
No, it’s not okay. That’s why I started this thread. I really would like an answer.
If this sort of thing is what gamers want, please box it and sell it as a stand-alone, and keep this fly outta the soup. Jumping puzzles in a war-lore MMO has got to be the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.
A few people like you have been complaining about jumping puzzles comparing them to Super Mario.
Today is April 1st,
They gave you Super Mario.Anet epic win.
(And they even made Infantile mode for people like you, you can’t say it’s too hard
)
………..you know, I never thought about that…….that would make this all even more hilarious.
I think a dev in the super adventure box forum mentioned they will be adding on to it and plan to add more weapons as it progresses.
Probably the only valid criticism I’ve seen so far, kudos to you.
I do agree it seems a bit odd, but I think they’ve stated there is a different team for various parts of the game. I think even a team for holiday events? Not entirely sure on that one.
Granted that still does not explain why the team responsible for polymock and such have shown no progress other then I suppose costume brawl.

I should point out that art is a form of entertainment, so the question itself is kind of flawed.
However, just as there is “art” that honestly is bottom of the barrel, not every game is good enough to be considered art.
Example of a game that can be considered art: Okami, seriously, tell me this does not look like a kitten painting in motion.
Also, correct me if I am wrong, didn’t Ebert eventually revise his opinion stating that some games COULD be considered art?
So, as I was remaking my mesmer as a sylvari, something occured to me.
It’s a lot harder to make a sylvari if you intend to use cultural armor, as you’re not sure how it will look until after you have already created said character.
To fix this and keep it fair to other races, I propose each race be allowed to cycle through a preset of each of their cultural sets. Preset 1 would be tier 1, preset 2 tier 2 and of course preset 3 tier 3. The presets would of course also depend on the class.
Of course, I’m not saying drop everything for this, as it is a minor problem at best but I do think it is worth looking into doing at some point in the future.
I wish they dropped more personally, as it is I’ve yet to see one outside of a puzzle chest.
I’m rather fond of sword/ sword and staff.
Sword provides you a block, a phantasm that leaps in for an attack and leaps out after the attack and thus creates a leap finisher, stips boons and applies vulnerability, has a short range teleport that creates on clone on the first cast which then cripples your target and on the second cast switches you with the clone and roots your target as well as counting as a leap finisher. Finally it has a multi hit attack that makes you immune to everything for the duration.
Staff is your all around defensive/supportive ranged weapon while still being capable of a decent amount of damage. It also provides a combo field with chaos storm for your sword leap finishers.
Ideally I would say switch wrath (downed state skill) and scepter 1.
That I would be perfectly ok with.
It’s pretty bad when our downed skill (aka where we are dieing) looks more powerful then a skill we’re using at full strength.
I agree with scepter being improved. Right now it looks and feels really lame, blue tennis balls? Seriously?
I’ll be aiming straight for the super great sword and staff………although I hold out hope for a hammer.
Great swords get all the best skins
but they had someone else on our side(an ally) who was rezzing them and they are killing our kittening vendors.
You can form parties with invaders allowing you to chat with them, perhaps it also allows you to res them? Never tested it myself.
So came back recently after a decent break and I heard they fixed the sylvari pain sound, did they fix the human female combat squeek as well by chance?
This has been done to death just because you get more rewards from daily dose not mean you MUST do them. If any thing its you who is making the game grinding because THAT is how you play mmorpgs.
Do you buy ever deal that you see on a store? MUST you buy ever deal you see? No because you have a brain. Just because something is more rewarding dose not make it a must do.
Most of these daily events are do able in less then 30 mins. And for some reason this is too much for ppl to do i think gaming is the least of there worry and not whether or not that they can do every thing in a game.Just because you breath doesn’t mean you MUST do it.
……..I hope you are aware of just how stupid you made yourself appear.
No you might not buy items for stats and say that it doesnt matter. Thats not what I do nor many other players. In point of fact I do NOT want any of the cultural t3 armors as they are all extremely fugly.
My point is that if they want to sell it as a “skin” they can do so via the TP with a costume set. Its not however, its ARMOR of RARE quality. The stats for a high cost item should reflect its costs.
How about you stop saying that stats dont matter. If that was the case, people would not grind for gear. Oh but wait they do, because stats matter to them.
Total logic fail on your part AGAIN.
Ps its not “inflation” its “deflation” when prices go down. LMAO.
This thread is not about me wanting them, its about getting the developers to realise Cultural armors are now pointlessly expensive in comparison to the rest of the items in the game.
I don’t see your point. Let’s say the prices where cut in half and were adjusted to be of exotic quality. They would -still- be more expensive than things on the trading post. Ignore the stats all together, as you can buy rares on the AH for -much- cheaper and the same stats to boot.
You are not paying for the stats on cultural armor, you are paying for the skin.
You are not grinding dungeon armors for the stats, you are grinding for the skin.
You are not grinding Legendary weapons for the stats, you are grinding for the skin.Stats are bought off the trading post, skins are not. (For most part)
Uh no, I am going to have to call you out on the dungeon part. Yes some grind them for the skins, but I farmed AC and Hotw for the skin AND stats, the stats being the bigger reason.
People that defend the price will tell you, that it is necessary because if they were cheaper then anyone would be wearing them and because of this they would not look so grand (for some reason). The same people five minutes later will tell you that you can easily get enough money, so they don’t see what the problem is.
No, i don’t see any logic in this either.
See, there’s a reason you don’t understand it.
People assume easy automatically means fast, in reality that is not always the case. This would be an example of it.
That being said, personally I am still in favor of cultural armor being expensive karma bought skins.
The vet one is extremely easy actually, assuming you have access to sparkfly. If you don’t, tough. The new dailies are designed to encourage you to go to different areas.
Honestly so far the dailies since I started playing again have been hilariously easy, hell even this monthly is.

Blaming the condition because you have your #1 on auto?
Solution: turn it off. Also, cleanse.
Rangers have no cleanse skill.
Have you ever played ranger?
Healing spring, bear’s F2 skill, signet of renewal, Empathic Bond
God no wonder confusion is being complained about, you people don’t even know how your own classes work
(edited by Celestina.2894)
you realize saying hammer is good for fight with AH doesnt add up since ALL weapons basically make symbols (Few dont) and ALL of those symbols give a boon to allies hence ALL symbols trigger AH. Hammer is possibly worse for AH due to the cooldown on the symbol vs other weps spammable symbols.
You……..have actually used a hammer right?
On the subject of dragons vs the gods, I recall it being confirmed at some point by a dev I think that the Dragons were just as powerful as the Gods, if not more so.
Another question, can I be this guy?
That’s a girl actually.
Why do people keep expecting ranged weapons to deal as much damage as melee ones. That will NOT happen.
Eh………I’m of the opinion it’s due to other MMOs. In most MMOs it is typical for casters/physical ranged characters to pump out either massive damage spikes or constant high crit based DPS from a range.
DotA got a hero that is permanently invisible and it doesn’t seem he’s OP, why not here where stealth is limited to 3s max except a high CD one?
……EVERY hero is OP in Dota, which makes it balance out funny enough.
Plus there’s a vast difference between a MMO like GW2 and a MOBA like Dota
That being said stealth doesn’t really bug me in this game aside from the rendering bug……….has that been fixed? Have not been in WvW lately so I have no idea.
In the end these are all opinions, so saying people have rose tinted nostalgia glasses on is almost insulting to people thinking logically. Let me point out one very simple, easy reason as to why rangers from gw1 will almost aways be better than gw2 rangers……pets. The fact of the matter is, pets are a liability unless they are extremely hard to kill and can hit moving targets. Atm ranger is the only class in the game that can have 50% of their dps easily killed, in gw1 your dps came from your skill bar and weapons, or if you went the route of BM it came from pet and pet was hard to kill, but you also did near 0 damage depending on the build. So as long as we have pets enforced upon us, we will be inferior from our ranger ancestors from 500 years past.
As far as ranger interupts vs mesmer interupts, people desired rangers most of the time because they could run interupts + heavy condis, basically we could kill and interupt where as a mesmer could only interupt or kill. Also we are not in the same position as gw1 rangers, again, they didnt have 50% of their damage tied to a broken mechanic that was forced on them, rangers were the red headed step child of gw1, but atleast they had many viable builds and none gimped by a perma pet. As for pve, I didnt pve much, but you are right, rangers barrage + splinter wep was dominant.
Idc about being op, if I enjoy the class Ill play it whether Im op or not, I care more about the feel. If my rangers longbow felt like rifle from warriors or slingshot….from scout Id be fine being weak, Id just enjoy seeing myself pull back an arrow and launch it into someones dome.
I don’t really care if it’s insulting, it’s true. I see so many people look back at GW1 like it was perfect. It was a good game sure, still 1 of my favorite MMOs in fact, but it had many flaws. Balance being one of them.
It should be kept in mind however that at least you can bring a pet in this game without worrying about it putting your skills on cool down like it did in GW1.
Also about mesmer, that may have been before, but after their last buff they are able to kill and interrupt quite easily with damage that ignores armor. Interrupts + immediate direct armor ignoring damage > interrupts + condition damage.
Again though, I am talking strictly PVE when I talk about how poor the ranger compares in GW1 like it does here. PVP was another matter entirely.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
I have never played GW1, but alone from reading some of the skills the ranger has in GW1 on http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ranger , I get a feeling that the whole profession was much better in GW1.
As a GW1 player, no, I can tell you ranger was not much different in that game because of how much faster other classes could deal damage and in AoE.
Yeah, you had more options due to dual profession………but they were horrid compared to every other class still.
They were better in PVP however if I recall correctly
Then let me assure you, as a better gw1 player that you were doing it horribly wrong. First off, rangers were wayyyyy different, and actually desired for both pve and pvp as a bow ranger. Not being forced to have a pet, being able to use condis without sacrificing alot of raw damage, getting high ground and sniping ( yes sniping was possible, and very very fun ) Not to mention we had the most range in the game, most interupts, most condi attacks. People tend to think gw1 ranger couldnt do burst or raw damage but that is false, my ranger wasnt interupts or pure condi, I used Burning arrow and hunters shot for the consistent damage and disrupting shot and needling shot with 16 MM, My burning arrow would get up to 130 damage max, and disrupting shot on squishies would do 140, get them to 50% or less in 2 shots and needling shot them for 40 each for massive preasure. We didnt have thief like burst, but we killed just as efficiently.
So yes, rangers were much better and different in gw1, pets were usually beastmaster exclusive, unless you are a newbie, and archers…real archers had so many ways to fight. Not saying it was perfect, but it was better, anet still paid barely any attention to rangers since gw1 release, definitely the least touched class. I logged into gw1 and saw alot more people playing it, asked a bunch if they played gw2 and they said yes but their main were rangers so they are waiting for them to become rangers again before they go back.
Rangers were great at conditions, this is true, but quite simply condition damage was considered “slow” in PVE as time went on, people began favoring spike damage. If conditions were used, it was used because some form of spike damage skill benefited from it.
Mesmers tended to be better for interrupting due to their interrupts being instant with no travel time, especially after their last massive buff which made them hilariously powerful by buffing a wide range of things. Fast casting among them if I recall correctly.
People began to favor massive AoE, which while ranger could do with splinter weapon+barrage simply was not up to par with what others could pump out. It gave the illusion of massive damage due to the multiple numbers popping up at the same time, but it was not actually that strong compared to other options. Their saving grace however was that their AoE tended to be safer.
Yes, ranger is different in this game in some ways, but realistically they are in the exact same spot as they were in GW1. That is not to say they were “bad” in PVE, just that they were outdone by other classes with their only advantage being range……..much like it is here. In GW1’s case, it was due to power creep however. In GW2’s case it’s because they are still working on balance as a whole.
Really though, I’d argue a few of the ranger mechanics here work better then they did in GW1, again, due to power creep. Pets are kind of bad it both, but thankfully slowly being improved here.
Please guys, remove the rose tinted nostalgia glasses, maybe rangers were better near the beginning of GW1, but as power creep sunk in, they were hardly desired for PVE except for VERY specific group set ups…….and even then there were often stronger options.
And no, this is not coming from someone who enjoyed OP classes. Hell my two favorites in GW1 were a smite monk and a paragon who I absolutely refused to touch imbagon on.

Skyrim.
This is off topic……..but I hate how much praise Skyrim gets. It is horridly overrated, I got tired when I realized every dungeon looked the bloody same………which was less then 2 hours.
Skyrim would be nothing without the modding scene, the only reason to play it.
I have never played GW1, but alone from reading some of the skills the ranger has in GW1 on http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ranger , I get a feeling that the whole profession was much better in GW1.

Took me about 3 tries
Compared to the halloween one where I spent 1-2 hours each day for about 2 days.
I was very disappointed with how easy this puzzle is, visually impressed however.
No offense, but if you can not complete this puzzle……….the problem is not the puzzle, the problem is you are just bad at them………or your computer/control choices are trash.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
I’d rather they finish balancing, then give each class a new weapon or two, then MAYBE another class.
Although I’d take tengu before a new class.
No-one said you have to fight a level 10 at level 6 if you want though why not go through the LA portal and from there to another races starting area and do their hearts, vistas and skill points that will level you up a bit .
You shouldnt have to change areas to level up.
See I don’t understand this, WHY shouldn’t you?
Is is so bad to be encouraged to explore?
That being said, I’ve never had to leave an area because part of it was to high for me…….I’m honestly at a loss for how that would be possible unless you ignore most of the exp opportunities the game basically flings at you at every step.

Guild Halls I am waiting for………but am I the only who has always found houses in any game to be insanely boring and pointless?
When you have to retrieve that sword for the pre-Order quests, I recall it being hinted that the sylvari had loved the man who stole the sword and left him to die.
If you’re sylvari, I feel the tier 3 cultural weapons are a good choice. No they have no fancy glow to them, but they have a sort of “life and death” look to them I feel.
Ah ok, thanks everyone
