I dread finding out these are RNG box rarities. Because want.
It honestly looks like we won’t have RNG boxes………the page only mentions the Dragon Bash one leaving……but makes no mention of a new one. So we’ll see I guess.
I did. I was trying to use it around the world. Only works in major cities it seems.
Tested in Orr, yeah that seems to be the case. Maybe to prevent on demand invincibility? From what I recall cutscenes make you invincible.
It should just work, I’ll test it.
Edit: Still working fine for me, I’ve used it in both Lion’s Arch and Divinity’s Reach. I doubt that matters but worth a shot I suppose.

What I think is funny is that so far 100% of the people that keep coming in here to tell us we’re idiots and can’t read haven’t adressed the issue we’re trying to raise here.
It’s dramatic irony, really.
Your argument is tasks are confusing due to how they are communicated.
They are not.
If this was done properly, there would be no confusion. This is a game, all answers should be IN THE GAME, not on any website. Also, the game has so many bugs, that your first assumption on being stuck is that something is broken.
No confusion?
You obviously do not understand just how…….challenged………people often are.
As someone who does paper work for a motorcycle school I can tell you this.
You can high light, underline, bold etc all the important information in their paper work such as dates, times, and what they are required to bring. You can emphasize they will not be allowed into the class if they do not arrive on time or bring the proper equipment and will not receive a refund. You can have this said on multiple pages……….and when they get there, late and without the proper gear……they will STILL blame you and feel entitled to a refund.
People are idiots, this event and thread proves that.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
i would love to have the animation fixed too for the shattered wings , they clip trough my norn and human characters , it only works fine on the charr
Male norn? I ask because I notice no clipping on my female.
Meh, I love them.
I just wish they were claw themed instead of shatterer.
There are lion statues in London because there are lions running around in Africa. I said that there arent any in Tyria (the world) but are oddly represented in a city. Your London statement doesn’t hold any water.
Now if there were some running around in Elona, then that definitely makes the difference.
I really wish people would look up these things instead of wasting front page space with such minor (and incorrect) complaints
If you listen to the mysterious rock formation, you can clearly hear machinery like cogs turning
If you check the event page, it shows a woman on the teaser image for the 20th holding a sword, leading a assault it looks like.
People who glitched through the rock formation found what looked like an air ship.
Finally, we have the achievement tab that was leaked that made mention of the aetherblade.
So from the looks of it, I’m expecting air pirates will be crashing the bash not dragons. As to WHY they crash the bash, that’s another thing entirely. I’m guessing that woman is our nemesis.

I honestly see absolutely no connection between Guild Wars Beyond and GW2. But then again, the living story makes absolutely no sense. It’s certainly not a story.
well war in kryta just showed us how the white mantle got wiped out for good which is why they arent in this game, heart of the north set up gwen and kieren to get married who logan in gw2 is related to but i was referring to the team that made these updates because it obviously isnt the same people making the living story
The Mantle were not wiped out, not really. It’s suggested many times that the white mantle are the ones behind the bandit organization.
Sorry, I get nit picky about lore.
I would be willing to bet high stakes that this game is also bringing in more money than a game with subs.
This particular pricing model is just ingenious. I don’t agree with the lottery boxes, at all, but I do agree that it is a smart way to increase the bottom line!
Tbh I don’t think it’s a secret that f2p is more profitable then P2P, and B2P (GW2 for example) is also potentially more profitable.
I really do hope B2P becomes the standard, it’s the best middle ground I feel.
I remember when GW1 first came out. It was the first major B2P (that I know of at least) and no one in the gaming press thought the model would be sustainable.
Oh how wrong they were.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
Skill Capping, Hard Mode, weapon dying and over armor costumes.
That’s it honestly.
I miss dual classing, but I understand why it’s not in. It’s a nightmare to balance because literally any change to one skill could potentially effect every single class creating more problems, and that showed in GW1.
PVE for example was not balanced in the slightest, in fact for a lot of classes it had none what so ever. Sins could go entirely invincible, rangers were even more useless then they arguably are here, Eles were worthless in hard mode unless they used this overpowered heal build (before the ele update anyways, no idea how they are now), Mesmers were overpowered as hell in PVE after the mesmer update, paragons were worthless except for one build etc
And let’s not forget the PVE skills introduced in EoTN, oh god the PVE skills.
Oh, and I want GW1 ray of judgement back for Guardian. Not the current pitiful wisp of a partial beam we have now.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
I’m quite happy with the amount of updates in GW2, but I wish more of it was permanent.
Rift is/was P2P and I was impressed by all the content they released on a regular basis. But, last I heard, they are going F2P as well, or have already done so.
They’re going f2p, right now no game except WoW can survive as P2P. It’s simply no longer viable, and it has nothing to do with game quality. The only reason WoW still works as P2P is because it came out at a time when MMO competition was weak at best and honestly still a “niche” of sorts. Plus it was Blizzard and Warcraft.
(sorry I know off topic, but wanted to put that out there before anyone came to the conclusion that Rift was horrid. People seem to have this idea where f2p = horrid)
(edited by Celestina.2894)
tbh I can’t think of any game that has done such regular content updates every month (in some cases 2 in one month)
Now the quality of each release, yeah, that is up for debate in regards to secret of southsun for example.
I won third place in a armor contest with this on my server ;3
Sadly it was day time so it did not look as good as it does in this screen, but eh.
Not sure if it meets the criteria of this thread, but it does to me personally.
Tarnished Coast tends to have enough people in even the less popular zones for all chains.
My biggest issue is that all the money from the gem store doesn’t directly support Anet and GW2. It directly supports NCSoft, who uses those funds as they wish whether for GW2 or any of their other titles (Lineage, Wildstar, etc). It wasn’t until recently when NCSoft finally gave the go ahead to START plans for an expansion in 2014.
You realize all NCsoft game profits goes to NCsoft and then they pay salaries for GW2 and other games right? Said money is what allowed GW2 to be made in the first place.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
Pandas? Firstly where are they in Lore?
Google OP yo
Forgot to mention, my last post was not really directed at you other then the part about skins from normal chests, more so at the people who cherry pick facts for their arguments ignoring everything else.
And on the subject of town clothes, still not sure why they don’t do what they did in GW1. Disable costumes in PVP (WvW and sPVP in this case) and allow them to be use when fighting in PVE. It doesn’t make sense from a greed/normal profit stand point, as they’d be selling much more if they could be worn in combat. I totally would have bought the wintersday clothes if not for that.
I actually am curious where the beyond team went after they switched GW1 to essentially “ghost mode”, my guess is they were split up into different teams.
Or who knows, maybe they’re working on something big in their own team to tie up loose ends from GW1 in GW2 (Evennia’s fate for example)
So ToT bags and (most) Wintersday Presents weren’t cash shop only. Anything that contained either a mini or weapon skin HAS been cash shop only.
No offense but I stopped reading right here as this is horrendously inaccurate. SAB skins, the wintersday Minis (which were honestly pretty easy to get), Wintersday weapon skins, that new reef rider mini which drops from southsun mobs right now, and Halloween weapons all shoot this claim full of holes.
If you’re going to make an argument against RNG boxes, then for the love of god be accurate or it just weakens your stance horrendously.
All of those were not dropped directly from a bag/container, they were traded for stuff you could farm/get in the event. I suppose I should have specified that in my original post.
Any chest/container that directly dropped a/the specific skin/mini (since the one kind of wintersday, fused, and sclerite tickets are 1 for 1, I’m counting it as a direct drop instead of trade) has been cash shop only, with the exception of the Consortium chest (since it can kinda be farmed as a drop, but has a horribly low drop chance).
(I can never explain stuff really well anyways, so of course there’s gonna be stuff I missed/left out.)
Actually, a lot of them did/do have a chance to drop from event chests. Tradeable SAB skins for example could drop from the chests inside the SAB.
You can’t really argue that all skins/minis have been cash shop only then when voicing your opposition to RNG boxes, otherwise your stance is extremely weak. A better argument would be that the cash shop vanity items have been largely dependent on RNG, which is true and can not really be argued against.

The US is not the only client base. Other countries do not seem to mind the RNG.
“The publisher saw a decrease in sales across North America and Europe. These regions made up only 13 percent, while the biggest draw came from Korea which made up 64 percent of all sales.”
Most probably because they don’t bother posting in English when they can rant in Korean?
Actually, from what I have heard a lot of Asian countries are quite happy with gambling systems. Culture thing I guess, could change over time of course. Used to be that Koreans loved the kitten out of their grind fest games like Aion but have started to slowly shift away from that.
You mean they made it worse then they could have done on purpose without time or money constraints? I dont think that is the case. They lacked one or both of that, probably time.
What I mean is I think they wanted to create a “link” to the next one ASAP and then start working on that next story ASAP. Also tbh, this southsun one feels like more of an experiment to me then anything.

Fun fact: Most mesmers I have talked to agree that moa morph is a all around kittenty choice for you elite skill.
I for one agree.
Also, the game is not built around 1vs1. So you removed one target for about 10 secs……..big whoop, here comes his/her allies. Not only that, but it has a long wind up time.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
I think southsun was rushed on purpose tbh. Not because of time constraints, but because it is a transitional event meant to add a bit more to southsun (the upcoming meta event) while letting them focus more on the next major story.
So, why are everyone assuming that the festive dragon coffers will be gem-store only?
Because, look at all the previous ones. They’ve all been Gem store only (for the most part, except the last one, which is still a very rare drop, for most of us anyways).
No, no they have not. They had gem store items, which is something they have to do if they want to keep away from a pay 2 win cash shop (which they are doing a perfect job in that regard I might add). But to call them “gem store only” or “for the most part” is just complaining for the sake of complaining.
I dislike RNG boxes as well, but don’t vote with your mouth. Get people to vote with their wallets, because your word means jack kitten in the face of profit numbers.
Anyways, I for one find the idea of this being a controversial in-universe event to be rather interesting.
From the .dat, SUPER SPOILERS:
The Captain's Council is preparing for the Dragon festival, a lot of people dislike it. "Dragons killed my brother! No more dragon festival until there are no more dragons!" - "My kids want their festival and so do I!" - "Honor the fallen heroes, NO dragon festival!" - "Hooray for the dragon festival!"This sounds like a silly premise.
It’s like somebody protesting a long-standing holiday because it offends their personal beliefs.
In real life, it is, but in this universe where dragons are physically and spiritually destroying the natural balance ( as far as we know) it makes sense for people to be a tad upset.

… I hadn’t even considered Quaggans. Can you just imagine what their pillow talk would sound like?
“Ooooh!”
“Hoo!”
“Ahhh!”
“Woo!”
……..I feel dirty now
That being said, there is a quest in GW1 where you have to get out of a “shot gun wedding” of sorts with a female or male norn depending on your gender. So yes, Norn X Human is possible.
Sylvari are said to fall in love with those who “inspire” them, regardless of gender and I would assume species. Sieran for example I am convinced develops feelings for your character….before she you know…..gets annoyingly killed off.
Humans………well I imagine humans would do anything humanoid. Plus, come on, Norn woman. What man would say no? Also, in real life we have things considered a fetish. This can range from possible role play…….to hentai such as monster girls.
Charr and Asura…..I’ll be honest, I can’t think of any reason they might be attracted to the other races. Asura in particular.

I find it funny that the ascended apologists in this thread don’t even notice the new special WvW infusions ANet is adding. They’ll probably go far beyond a simple +5 to a stat and will be required to be optimal in WvW. It does depend on how useful they’ll turn out though but it it’s something like 5% more PvP damage or 5% less PvP damage (offensive or defensive), it’ll be required to have them to be optimal.
In a sense, it’s even worse than the added stats on ascended compared to Exotic.
I’m doing what I did when ascended gear was originally announced.
Wait and see just how much of an impact there is before pounding on the ground crying.
I somehow think you are missing my point, never said warrior does not need help.
Love how their is always some other classes coming in here to say WARRIORS ARE FINE. Oh yeah, that’s why you don’t even play a warrior.
Kind of like how it was popular for warrior to say every other class was fine when warriors were considered top dog?
It’s a vicious circle, everyone is guilty of it.
I still remember the cries of “HB OP OMG!”
That was when:
Warriors had Omnomberry Pie in PvP and could heal decently.
Warriors could use items to cure there CC/Siege in PvP.
Warriors could use the unnerfed sigils to cure conditions faster in PvP.And then they removed all that, added internal cool-downs.
Warrior is now the worst class in most parts of the game except the very easiest, which is why people want them in things like COF1, which should be nerfed to the ground/made harder.
As I said, everyone is guilty of it. When warriors had that, every other class was “fine”.
Not saying the attitude is right, but it is rather hypocritical to call out others on it.

I’ve honestly never seen a mesmer say you have to pay them for the portal……honestly it’s pretty kitten hard to force payment from everyone, even without another mesmer such as myself coming in and ruining it for you.
At most, I’ll see mesmers (including myself) saying donations are appreciated, but nothing beyond that.
Forbidden*
And no, it’s not against the rules, it’s just incredibly pathetic. Especially considering how close knit the community is, charging people for portal use will only get you higher on a list of “People to avoid.”
…..no, no it really won’t. The community isn’t THAT close knit.
Oh my.
I guess I should have added ‘in pvp’.
Mesmers still rip other classes a new one if the mesmer knows what they are doing.
Not sure this is related to Guild Wars 2..
I hope they make GW2 for console. There, now let us talk
Serious answer: I think there are/were plans, but they were scrapped or put WAY on the back burner.
I think I’ll stick to my PC
If you can afford tier 3 cultural, I’d go charr personally. The tier 3 is bad kitten on males and females.
Also, are among the top 3 races when it comes to story. They put a lot of effort into the charr writing, and it shows. They also have some of the best animations in my opinion.
Why do you need to have Ascended gear at all? I haven’t got any Ascended gear on any of my characters and do absolutely fine. The only thing I can think of you’d need it for is Fractals, which is fairly self-contained (I don’t do Fractals though).
So why do people feel that they need them at all? Let alone for each aspect of the game?
Because ascended equipment gives you the slight edge over players with just exotics…
the OP isn’t talking about ascended items he’s talking about infusions, you know that +5 to one stat infusion. hardly an unfair advantage.
Every advantage, is an advantage = unfair. If 2 people are equally skilled and the other does 1 dmg more because of special armor. He wins.
Ignoring the variables such as ping/lag, class, type of build, and the fact that damage is not done in numbers as tiny as 5, making that tiny bit extra insignificant.
Honestly as someone who has just started to gear my mes in ascended gear……..I’m not doing it because of some noticeable difference……in fact it makes even less of an impact then I had expected…..it’s because I thought to myself “……meh, why the hell not, might as well”

Funny story: Just got accused of begging in map chat when I said tips appreciated. Told I would get “no begging money” here
5 seconds later, I’m 6 gold richer.
well this is awkward
God kitten it I was gonna post that
Can i see some of the armors u guys have on your characters
Tier 2 light sylvari cultural
@JustTrogdor
A mesmer sets up a portal (Use skill)
A portal appears on the ground
The mesmer runs to location B and sets a second portal on the ground (Use skill again)
Anyone (Limited to 20 ports per portal) can now use the portal either way as many times they want, although the portal itself only stays active for some seconds before disappearing. In the case of jumping puzzle the idea is often that the Mesmer simply falls down to the lower ground and portal people up from there.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Is there a range limit on how far the Mesmer can run and set the exit?
There is, but I’ve honestly can’t say I’ve ever hit that range limit. It’s ridiculously long, range of 5000 according to the wiki.
Anyways, tbh I can’t say I’ve ever seen someone charging for portals……simply because trying to enforce it would be a hilarious failure, especially when another mesmer like me decides to stop that.
On the other hand, I do see mesmers (myself included) saying they would appreciate tips, but we don’t raise a stink about it if we don’t get said tips.
It’s actually rather shocking how much people are willing to tip.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
I think it’s the case that there will always be clipping in one way or another When we pull it far enough off the back for it not to clip on heavy armors, people in light/medium armor have a large gap between their back and the item. We try to find the happy medium where we can appease as many as we can, but it’s not going to be perfect for everyone.
That being said, we are looking into these issues and trying to develop better systems for the back-slot items that will result in less clipping and less gaps. Certain armors will always be problematic, but we’re always looking into solutions for things like these
Could you or another possibly take a look at allowing us to dye back pieces such as the fervid?
Yeah, they were never there before. Seem to have been added with the start of this plot.
The lack of red attenion saddens me
There’s one place I know: Utopia.
Keep in mind Utopia was the location of a scrapped expansion, it may or may not exist in the GW universe now. Much of Utopia was recycled for Eye Of The North.
On the subject of bandits:
Keep in mind that the bandits, while their goal might be “good”, they are extremists. In some cases you’ll find bandit NPCs who don’t agree with their methods and want out. Also, it’s very much implied that many bandits don’t even know the real power behind their organization, this power is implied to be The White Mantle. A order of fanatical zealots who worship the Mursaat as Gods and will do ANYTHING the Mursaat command. The Mursaat do not want a democracy, this is assured. At least not one where any other race but Mursaat has influence.
Now as for Caudecus, you’re completely mistaken. He wants power for the sake of power, and he will do anything to get it and keep himself in the running for it, just ask Denni Beetlestone. And honestly, I doubt he’d have any interest in keeping up a truce with the Charr, likely dooming the races of Tyria as they need all the man power they can get.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mursaat
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/White_Mantle
On the Asura and Skritt: Fair enough point, Asura tend to be very…..morally questionable, often the lines between normal Asura and Inquest are blurred in my opinion. Of course, in other areas of the game the objective is to keep the Skritt safe, happy and as allies.
On the subject of Southsun: Keep in mind the settler negotiators ask you to keep the peace as well, they don’t like their situation no, but they do not want to improve it violently. They seem like they’d prefer a Ghandi approach.
Finally, the Dredge:
Their government is corrupt as all hell, this is make increasingly blatant in higher areas. In one situation you even aid Dredge rebels in their fight against their government. Dredge are pretty much suppose to be basically the Soviet Russia are GW2. Not only that, but their entire reason for wanting to destroy the Durmand Priory is because the last known Dwarf lives there.
A dwarf who is very much a hero and did not have a hand in Dredge slavery. Dredge Slavery was the doing of the Stone Summit dwarfs, a race of xenophobic dwarves who considered themselves superior to all……….wanna guess how close the dredge are to that right now?
(edited by Celestina.2894)
Give me a mix, GW1 and GW2 are good about that.
100% gritty is boring
100% upbeat is annoying
On the subject of “clean” cities……I’m not sure how anyone could look at the black citadel and see clean and sanitary……..or even safe.
Everything about that place looks like a hazard.
SAB skins, two new southsun back pack, molten gloves etc. All non-RNG skins, not to mention we have been getting monthly updates since release, can’t say the same for most if any other MMO.
Now then, on the subject of RNG cash shop, no, it is not needed. But here’s the thing, if it is the most profitable, you are kitten right they are going to do it and you can not fault them for it because at the end of the day every game is made for one purpose: to make money and they will keep doing it if people pay for it, because as a company they would be idiotic not to.
Besides, they HAVE added skins that can not be obtained from the cash shop as well as monthly updates. I’d argue the added skins so far are the same quality of not higher quality then any of the RNG box ones so far.
No, don’t get confused, I don’t agree with RNG cash shop but I fully understand why a company would choose it and appreciate they are only doing this with some skins, instead of throwing in something like ascended gear which is totally something that other companies have done and continue to do.
