Key farming is making a character, running it up high enough to complete the personal story to level 10 because that’s the instance that awards a BLC key. Rinse and repeat.

Feedback/Questions: The Wardrobe System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

I’m glad they’ve decided to add a semi-wardrobe to the game. It’s not a real wardrobe since you still need transmutation items. Ideally, once you unlock a gear piece, you’d be able to apply that anyway you like, on whoever you like, whenever you like – infinitely. Still, for a game whose appearance system has thus far been in the Dark Ages compared with most other MMOs, this is at least a little something.

It still doesn’t seem to solve the ridiculous limiting of the town clothes system unless I’ve missed something, we still can’t switch up town clothes looks to armor and back again.

Not too happy with the 3/1 ratio conversion for transmutation stones/crystals. I’ll lose a lot of stones with this and be kitten from the git-go. Also, no doubt transmutation charges will not be dropping from doing the cities. Now, you can get more stones by doing the city completions. I’m guessing this will no longer be possible.

Nerf on crit. damage

So, if zerker is still top dog after the nerf, then what’s the point of this? Are we really saying that Anet devs are too stupid to do the math and know this?

It can be frustrating when so much gameplay relies on RNG, which sucks for some of us and works for others. I try to minimize my expectations accordingly, For instance, I’ve been playing since launch and haven’t had a precursor for a drop yet unlike some others that get one on average of one per month since they’re been playing. You can get rather rich that way.

When did this game become such a grind?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

All MMOs have grind. The grind just varies with each game. Usually, though, if someone in this game thinks leveling is a grind, they’re trying to get to 80 by playing only one section of the world – i.e. Krytan regions if they’re human, Ascalon if they’re charr. Leveling goes much more quickly and easily if you throw in all the other regions different from your race area.

So long as 80s can instantly unlock everything for free (as you mentioned) I’d be cool with this. Not sure what will happen with partially complete characters like level 40s for instance that have bought 2 of their trait books but haven’t bought the 3rd one for level 60 yet.

Expansions Needed for Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Celtic Lady.3729

Most players want expansions at some point. MMOers are used to expansions and they like them. This doesn’t mean, however, that Anet will make them. They like their living story disposable content, so that may be the expansions here. Company’s going to do what it wants not what players expect.

Traits are so easy to understand, I had no idea what they were talking about with making them easier for new players. This new system doesn’t seem to make anything simpler, it just means traits start later and you get them a lot less often. Don’t see how that equates to “easier.”

Right now we can get all our traits for a cost of 3 gold 10 silver. If the new traits, which will all be bought individually, cost a lot as some have speculated (100 g per trait) that would mean a lot of players will not be able to buy any traits.

I don’t play alone. I’m in a small guild of friends and we often play together. Our guild is too small to take advantage of any of the guild events they’ve added to the game and none of us play for hours at a time, but there is a social aspect when we’re on.

The profession imbalances with regards to dungeon runs has caused a lot of players to move on to other games. The short answer when someone asks what profession they should be making is warrior, maybe guardian. Otherwise, they find themselves more or less locked out of content later. Guilds help a little.

The problem with the recent events that showed a distinct lack of balance was that the constantly failing events have convinced a lot of people that this game is lacking players. I saw a lot of comments in chat about how this game must be doing badly since they obviously don’t have enough people for their events. Some of us tried to tell them this was more about badly planned events than population, but no one really seemed convinced.

Look, you were given a window to spend heirlooms. It was advertised and promoted in the last week. Just because you were or were not thinking about what to spend them on does not matter. You didn’t spend them within that window, sorry you lose out.

“Advertised and promoted” would imply that they put it out there everywhere so that no one would miss it, rather than a single post in the “news and announcements” section of the forum. Had they placed it in the Login section of the game, I would have seen it. Had they done an in-game email, I would have seen it. Had they made an announcement in ALL of the relevant forums (such as this one and the living story one, and the general game one) I would have seen it. And had they done all of that advertising and promotion…I would be right there with you agreeing with you 100% But I feel that if I missed it….and I visit the forums at least once every other day, I read every announcement on the login screen (even about gem-store items), I read every in-game mail and actually talk to vendors and surrounding people…If I missed it…then there were a TON of people that never saw it at all.

I would not call what they did “Advertised and promoted”…..I would call it “Mentioned”. SO you cannot blame people for missing it and simply say “it was out there”

That reminds me of “hitchhikers guide to the galaxy” when they are destroying the earth to make a new transgalactic highway and the humans are saying “WTF??” and the aliens simply say…“Hey, the form was filed with the galactic central office, it was located, on display in subbasement 57 of the galactic central offices. Its not our fault you did not have the means to travel between the stars to go and see it.”

Bookmark the following links in your browser. That way you don’t miss updates:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates

but if I only check those….I would have also gotten rid of all of my blade shards….since they told me to keep those in a different forum.

And what if I don’t read the forums? Like I said, also speaking for several of my guildmates who are stuck with stacks of these as well….one played with me last night and planned on jumping on this morning to use his (just in case) (which truthfully I did also)…but missed out opportunity because this time, they patched early.

I would count this as “player error”. Just because you missed a confirmation from a Dev forum post, doesn’t mean the company should bend over backwards to assist you. Here’s another link you may want to bookmark in your browser:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/devtracker

I actually do read devtracker….however its easy to miss something in there when the devs are posting a LOT (for bugs etc)….because, I missed it there.

To all the people arguing against it…in what way does it hurt you to bring the vendor back for a week? Or to add it to the new “blade shards” vendor that is supposedly coming?

Just curious why some people are arguing so hard that ANET should not bring the vendors back….to be honest, it really doesn’t hurt me much…I probably missed out on like 8 obsidian shards from all the belongings I had….and I have 6 million karma I could spend on that….but I am arguing FOR it for the people that missed out. So I am curious why some people are arguing against it?

It’s not fair for those who do read Dev posts, and subsequently turn in all our trophies in a timely manner.

If every player knew about the time limit, then it could be “not fair” for those who did it in a timly manner.
Or you can call it unfair for the player who farmed those items and cannot use them anymore.
But I think, if the majority of players don´t even know about the time limt, then there shouldn´t be a question abot “Fair or not fair?”. This a problem with the communication between anet and the players. If they have an important change, which directly affects the player, why dont announce it in the patch-notes or send everyone a short letter? My personal favorite is a small pop-up-window ingame, so it doesn´t spam the mailbox.
With that even those players who don´t use the forum or don´t use twitter (or whatever) and are playing GW maybe once every 2/3 weeks will know it.

The fairness non-argument makes no sense and never did. There are better ways to communicate and I assume Anet is learning from their mistakes as they go.
