I’m all for this. But then I’d like a refund on all the double copies that I bought. Like cranked said, this will make them lose a lot of money, because a lot of people don’t just buy 1, they buy multiple.
With 55G you can buy 137500 normal pickaxes (1375 “stacks”). Assuming you use them all on Orichalcum ores and a (trade post) profit of 3,5 silver per ore, this would get you roughly 4757,5 (4812,5-55) gold, not counting any jewels you might find during mining.
With the 20% chance of sprockets, mining 137500 times would get you 27500 sprockets. Assuming a profit per sprocket of 45c (in between current price of 40-57, minus TP tax), these would make you 123,75 gold. The new pickaxe is 25% more expensive than the MAMP, which if the gem/gold rate is still the same would equal to 68,75 gold.
4812,5+123,75-68,75 = 4867,5 gold after 137500 uses. Roughly 2,3% more than with normal pickaxes or a MAMP, still not counting any jewels found during mining.
As the investment costs are higher and most people are unlikely to mine even 50000 times, buying the new pickaxe seems dumb and you should be happy you didn’t waste money on it.
That said, just buying normal picks seems still the best option, though a little less convenient.
People don’t realize this when they cry: “Pay-to-win item!”. It’s not like you’re making any money on getting these picks.
Seems like there’s another unlimited mining pick in the gemstore, this time it has a bonus 20% chance to mine watchwork sprockets on top of the normal ores you mine. PayToWin-item? Anyway, I’m getting some.
I got 2! I love them. Get like 1 watchwork sprocket every ore node. 3-5 every rich one.
Either ANet needs to remove the “Top Demanded Items” from the TP as it’s completely irrelevant and misleading…..or they need to fix the spamming of buy orders.
SOOooo maybe we should come up with ideas for how they would fix it.
I think adding a vendor value of 1s to all rare/exotic skins and gear is the best solution.
This wouldn’t help, rich people would still be able to do it. It would just cost more.
Honestly I never paid much attention to those lists on the TP other than as a short cut to get to an item I was after to begin with, like ectos. It was simply a weird curiosity.
Saying they are actually useful in terms of driving the market is like saying you use Google’s Zeitgeist to be socially current.
They are useful for just that. When it comes on the “top demand list” people will click on it, because they’re curious on why it’s there. Then they see the new price and think: “Wow, I remember when this item was only like 1g.. and it’s already 3g now… I should probably buy some”. Thus, driving up the price.
Another bug with this skill is that if you use it while you’re targetting an enemy that isn’t in range, it will count as a Stun breaker and go into a 3 second recharge.
This isn’t a nerf, this is a fix. Deceptive Evasion is useless when you run a phantasm build. Whenever you have 3 phantasms up and you have this trait, you would be unable to dodge. Because it would destroy your powerful phantasm and destroy your damage output in the process.
I don’t want to burst your bubble, but with the current meta the phantasm DPS build is far superior to the condition build. Mesmer condition is really bad in PvE.
I have 8 alts. The biggest problem for gearing them all is:
- Laurels
- Guild Commendations
- Ascended rings (however you get them is up to you, I chose 10x pristine fractal relics per ring)
- Ascended backpieces (1850 frac tokens per char)
- Fractal tokens for agony infusions
- Gold. Lots and lots of gold. You don’t want to walk around in starter armor. You want to get nice skins. Expensive skins. They cost gold, transmutation stones. Then you want to get runes + sigils, etc.
Alts cost a lot of gold, resources and time. But in the end, they’re so worth it. Being able to swap to whatever you feel like playing or whatever is needed. Thief for Dredge, Mesmer for CoF/Harpy/Swamp, Guardian when your party lacks one, Ele for AC/CoE, etc.
Hey, so I’m running out of Karma and I need a way to get some karma gain. Recently they’ve changed it so that Fractals gives out a lot of Karma. And seeing as I do Fractals a lot (Personal reward = 50), I figured that I should optimize my karma gain.
So I heard that Karma boosters work on the reward, hence I have a few questions:
1. Does Karmic Infusion (on amulet) work as well (Can anyone confirm this, before I waste a lot of resources to get it)?
2. When does the Karma reward pop-up so I know when to activate my Karma boosters. I’m guessing at the end when you get the daily reward? (I’ve never seen it myself to be honest, but I probably wasn’t paying attention to it.)
3. Would it be faster to do Fractals level 1 if I just want to get the Karma? Or does it give less karma than when I do fractals level 40?

I had a problem with dragonite ore too, but that was only because I wasn’t doing world bosses as much. Last night I did world bosses for 1-2 hours and got 2 stacks of Dragonite ore. In retrospect, I think it’s fine. You just have to do world bosses, and not everyone likes doing that because the gold reward is pretty crap compared to dungeons.
p.s. Use the gw2stuff overlay. It’s surprisingly really accurate and helps a ton. The game should have this build in to be honest.

This is the name of the game. Speculators are always driving up the price, and selling to each other. Silver ore isn’t needed much in any recipe at the moment, and yet it has gone up sixfold. And in a sense, everyone is a speculator in this game.
You can hook up your PC to a TV screen and connect your PS3/Xbox360 controller via USB. It’s basically the same thing. The combat system is nice if you play it on a controller, though browsing through in-game windows (e..g Trading Post) can be a chore.
Market for precursors could crash tomorrow or Friday (stream?) if they announce precursor crafting.
However, it could also go back up if the requirements for precursor crafting are difficult and time-consuming enough that buying a precursor is still a viable option.
Pretty much this. The precursor market is very risky atm as precursor crafting has been announced. Though we don’t know the requirements for it, or even when it comes.
Actually, using an experience scroll on a level 1 character will get you to level 20. With 16 skillpoints. You can use these skillpoints for mystic forge recipes. I used all 8 experience scrolls I had to get 77 Mystic Clovers that I needed for my Legendary (2x the 10 clover recipe + 4x the 1 clover recipe).
If your recipe fails you get t6 mats or lodestones, which are also nice.
I wish I had more of these scrolls… they’re so useful.
I might have missed it, but at what level are you playing this at? At frac 49 this dredge fractal has made more people ragequit then I can think of, because it takes foreeeeveeeerrrrrr. Restarting is usually quicker, but then getting Dredge again will make you tear your head out, so we usually just bear through it.
We’re currently looking into solutions for this and another nasty case: Party leader leaving the party and ejecting folks from the dungeon, forcing them to restart.
One of the solutions we’re investigating to the problem you posted though, is for the instance ownership to transition to the new “party leader” so that instead of everyone getting the boot, there is a player in the party who becomes the new owner and the group can continue on.
I’m sure I’m making it sound easier than it really is, but that is one of the solutions we are investigating. There’s a lot of tech magic way beyond my pay-grade that needs to happen, but we are working on a solution to this issue.
Be sure to make it so that players are notified WHO the new party leader is, so that the players won’t be in for a surprise when someone who is the new party leader wants to character swap.
Personally I would rather be undercut by 1c than 300g. Effectively destroying values of things in a couple listings. Undercutting is pointless anyways, if you match the lowest seller the most recent listing will be sold first (same goes for orders).
You can also catch people offguard on buy orders if you match their price, instead of raising eachother 1c back and forth .
I think, not fully sure, that that isn’t true; I think the TP is FIFO, not LIFO.
This is indeed correct. Matching buy orders will do nothing for you. Their buy order will get filled first.
Phantasmal Berserker on Greatsword is a nice AoE. He usually lives long enough to get 1 attack off. Staff Chaos Storm is amazing in zergs, it buffs allies and does AoE damage as well.
Feedback is pretty amazing in zergs though, Guardian’s third autoattack on sword counts as a projectile. And I don’t believe for one second that there are no casters like ele’s in any opposing zergs.
But to be fair, in zergs I usually just dodgeroll through, spam skill #1 on sword and Shatter the clones I created with the dodgeroll (due to trait X on the dueling line -> create clone on dodge).
On keeps all you can do is Temporal Curtain (focus) and Chaos Storm (staff), the rest is always Obstructed.
This is the best you can do to collect loot bags. But if you really want loot bags, you should play a different class. On my Ele I get way more loot bags for way less effort.
I use Ascended Berserker armor set. With Ascended Berserker trinkets for pve. And swap to Exotic PVT trinkets when I go to WvW. Mes has enough utilities to survive that they can get away with using full Berserker armor. I rarely die in WvW because of this. Positioning is better than gear in WvW anyway. Blink is your friend.
If you want to go condition build for variation, just use an exotic armor set.
It will take longer with unoptimized groups but these are generally easy/fast dungeons.
You’re gonna compare this to an average pug? Heck, with an optimized organized group like that you can even do Arah p4 in 10 minutes.

AC 1,3 (p2 sometimes bugs at the end, where you either have to leave the instance, or lure mobs and kill the npc. Which takes forever cause the NPC is the best tank in the game for some reason)

In many cases, that makes it worse.
If I’m undercut by 1c and that guy is also undercut by 1c, it’s annoying, but there’s no real threat to my current price level. Most likely, eventually the fluctuations in demand relative to supply will still cause my listing to sell. If I’m undercut by 300g, and then that guy is undercut by 1c, now there’s a real threat that price expectations could start to change.
In fact, if you look at this specific item, you can see that’s exactly what has happened to one seller. He posted at 2999g 99s 99c and was undercut to 2800g (presumably by SSalp) who was then undercut to 2500g (presumably by you) who was undercut by 1c. Now that a few transactions have gone through, people looking at past data expect that if they wait, they can probably snag one for 2500g, or at the worst 2800g.
That being said, it could be better to be undercut by a large margin in some situations. Specifically that situation is when the person who ultimately purchased the 2500g unit is someone who would refuse to purchase at 2800g. If that’s the case, then the person you undercut is better off.
It’s usually much better to get undercut by a significant portion though. The price on Dreamer for example is pretty stable on 2900g. Anything below that will be considered a ‘steal’ and it will sell fairly quickly. Even if the 2500g one will get undercut by 1c, both of those are still a good bargain and anyone that has been eyeing the Dreamer will know this. Needless to say, they both will sell quickly because of this.
