On my lv 16 character, i decided to refine some of the low level mats to get a few levels on him.
L1 Leatherworker. So I made a leather square. My character XP didn’t increase.
I tried Bolt of Jute. Got some xp.
Tried another Jute. No xp.
Tried another with critical success. No xp.
Tried another with non-crit. Got some xp.
Did a bunch more, paying attention, and got xp on 1 more non-crit, and on 1 crit. About 5 more gave none.
Is this not a bug?
That is an excellent idea. A chef recipe to make rosemary(30) waffles with charged syrup, using 20 charged lodestones.
I think it’s silly to use things like Glacial, Molten, Crystal lodestone, or Pile of Putrid Essence in recipes.
I request 2 things:
1. Change all recipes that use all lodestones but Charged so that they now use Charged Lodestones.
2. Make future recipes that use only Charged Lodestones.
After lots of failed casts of Shatterstone, I knew something was broken here. This skill is now a channel, and gets interrupted the same way as dragon tooth does, except without the animation completing.
The channel is really unnecessary for such a bad skill, but at the very least, other skill should chain after it instead of interrupt it.
I saw the boosts before posting this.
The new recipes aren’t being used much, and seem like an attempted quick fix.
The only way prices will even out is if the recipes are still reasonably priced. It’ll take longer, but it’s better than putting work into something that 99% of players won’t bother with.
This has more to do with the economy than crafting so I posted it here.
In the last couple of updates, the crafting recipes have used huge numbers of mats. I am guessing they are trying to make certain items worth more (like mushrooms, which are still worthless). Although there are other items, like rosemary and dill, which were one of the better priced ingredients and the new recipes caused them to skyrocket.
Considering the insane prices to make these foods, compared to their older equivalents, what is even the point to adding them?
I would like to see new recipes added that don’t use 25-50 stacks of 1 ingredient for 1 piece of food. And using ingredients that have been not even worth gathering (as the cost of the sickle use & TP fee outweigh the return). See lettuce or leeks for example.
I’m not sure what the intention was with the Flame & frost recipes, but they didn’t work. Mushroom is still low. The dragoncake one shows that they’re still trying these overly-expensive recipes. Please try putting 25 pieces of saffron thread on any piece of cake and tell me how it tastes.
if you used buy orders while saffron, white cake, frosting were cheap, you could make about 12s per starcake. Those are still up for sale and new postings are either the aforementioned “i gathered it so it’s free” people, or people liquidating stock.
I fired an air auto attack at a Jade Maw tentacle (on the left side). It bounced outward towards the rocks.
I think the mobs that despawned (after the first 2 tentacles were down) are still there, and the lightning was bouncing to them, despite being invisible.
D/D Elementalists were zooming all over the place with their low-CD RTL, especially given that the class already has infinite access to Swiftness on top of having a 25% runspeed signet. Their large-scale mobility (getting from fight A to fight
was superb, and even on a PvE-level that is worth of a balance-look.
Infinite swiftness requires a couple of traits, it’s not free.
Swiftness is 33% run speed. Signet is 25%. Max run speed is 33%, so it very much not optimal to use both.
Ride the Lightning was 15 second cooldown, nerfed to 20 second, then nerfed to 40 (unless you enter combat and have movement speed reduced, which defeats the purpose of a mobility skill). When autotargetting is on, it fires to the side and aggros mobs, fires you back into zergs or off cliffs to your death. If it’s off, it can miss target easily and have double cooldown. It didn’t disrupt balance in combat. It was placed in the game so that eles could zoom around the map, but was nerfed due to people escaping battles in pvp with it, causing much complaining.
sigh it wasn’t in the update
There has always been problems with mobs turning invuln when they shouldn’t but it wasn’t in a critically important way.
But the harpies in FotM are doing it regularly now. I have attacked them from around 500 ft and also right next to them and it said invulnerable. At one point, our entire party, including melees could do no damage to one. It happens to vampire bats sometimes in the grawl fractal.
We tried different things trying to avoid it happening but it kept happening.
A mechanic to prevent cheesing a fractal should never block progress of legit players.
By the way, if they are invuln and blocked from combat from me, why the kitten are they still able to attack me??
This is one of those long-overdue needed fixes.
We were told something about a spunky female being behind the molten alliance stuff. And the prisoners at the end said they were mad at someone (can’t remember if they said it was a she) who was manipulating them all. And the image below came out around then.. not sure if it’s the same person.
I don’t remember if this was ever answered. Has it been said who she was?
The forge recipes make you lose money.
Once again, we need those mystic forge recipes to make a use of mats that are currently sitting at millions for 1c over vendor price.
Silk currently feels like a burden. “Oh great, what am I going to do with this?”
And when I says “a recipe”, I don’t mean a recipe with 250 silk + 50 ectos. And I don’t mean 250 silk -> mystery tonics.
I know you always pull that stuff.
It needs to be 250 silk -> something useful. Otherwise, what’s the point?
I feel like all classes got buffed, but some not as much as others. Ele for example had staff skills sped up, but not really any damage/survivability increased. I use scepter/dagger and I won’t be made stronger to handle these other classes that just got buffed.
I really don’t know why they said in that state of the game “we want to decrease ele, but at the same time, bring up every other class”. I don’t see speed groups in dungeons clearing in 5 minutes with 5 eles.
What it so much of a problem that people could drop multiple of a valueless item for giggles, that a rapid patch was needed on reset night?
Or was something else patched not in the notes?
I have a Peacemaker’s staff and a Coldsnap scepter. Both unique skins, but both use the generic icon for every wooden blue scepter and staff from level 1.
It’s hard to tell which is my exotic and which is random blue loot I’ve picked up.
I don’t care about aesthetics, it just needs anything to distinguish it.
People may have been using it to escape in PvP, but that’s something I’ve never done in PvE once in 9 months of playing. I use autotargetting, and if I tried it, I would get fired backwards at the enemy (I thought skills were changed to not fire behind us in past patches?).
As it is now, I have to go into combat with an ambient mob to put on some speed, which of course slows me to combat speed, making the skill quite useless. And now that the cooldown is doubled when no target is hit, you have to target it for something under 1200 feet, making the effective range even less.
It’s currently blanket punishing everyone for a cheap PvP tactic a minority of people use. Splitting skills may be something you want to keep to a minimum, but if you can’t think of a way that it punishes only PvP players, it’s needed here.
There is this annoying problem when in zergs, where you send your attack out, but other classes cut it down before your attack reaches it. You get no credit, and therefore no loot, while they get it all.
Half of the problem is that some classes don’t have a repeatable fast skill that hits multiple targets (ie guardian staff 1). The other half is that when a skill is fired, the enemy needs to be alive when it connects, or else it is wasted.
I suggest making it so that if the enemy dies after pressing the button, the skill gets switched to another target and fired. And example are the ele staff air skills, which (surprisingly considering they use lightning) take time to launch. By the time it leaves the caster, the enemy is already dead, and it would help to at least have it fire at anyone else who is alive.
Any kind of change to give everyone a chance at loot for trying to hit enemies would be a good one. If 10 people are in front of a monster pressing 1, they should all be rewarded equally.

It’s bad when you have to rely on site:forum-en.guildwars2.com in your google search to find topics on a forum.
What does your guild spend them on?
We get 90 per week with the missions we do. The things that use merits (after all unlocks) mostly use 3, 5, or 20 merits, and take 1-3 days.
We can’t spend them faster than we can make them. If we speed up upgrades, we run out of influence.
Do you other guilds have a good way to spend merits to get more bang per buck?
How about a quick bit of first aid while they’re taking time to examine things. By the time DR gets improved, lots of people will have finished their run of GW2.
There have been changes to Crab Scuttle since the Southsun update.
It was bad enough before, with the champion broodmother dynamic event placed in the path of the rush, and even worse because of the 1-shot tunneling worm dynamic event placed in the path of the rush.
Now it has 2 more events placed to make this mission unenjoyable for players. One being the crazed karka taking over the camp next to where the Queen spawns, the other being the Karka Queen herself, as well as the adds that come with her, right at the finish line.
For all of the people who complained that it was a terrible idea making an impenetrable army of karka to run through to get to the Queen, imagine running that in crab form with 3 skills.
There are key problems with these events.
1) Southsun is unpopular. It’s hard to get groups of people to fight the Champion broodmother et all, and it’s not in a location people will run by to complete.
2) The wurm collection event gets scaled extremely high due to players in the area who are in crab form, or just not participating. While it takes 9-10 golem parts to complete it solo, it takes hundreds when a mission is being run. And even when it is completed, it will reoccur within the guild rush window. There’s also no counter to the 1-shot wurms. Only 2 dodges for an army of them, and it’s never clear exactly when their attack is timed to hit you.
3) The event at the camp near the end has an army of karka, and takes an army of players. Most guilds don’t have enough people to both handle this and run the rush simultaneously. The island isn’t so populated anymore that players will be doing the event for fun. Since a guild can’t sit and wait for others to clear it (because missions are timed), and the event can spawn after mission has started, this can be a guaranteed failure.
4) Ending a guild rush at a World Boss event. I don’t need to say much more than “what on Earth were you thinking?”
Previously, even with pre-clearing the events, the mission had some people quitting of frustration, while others managed to have an alright time. This time, everyone we ran with was really unhappy by the end. Most likely we will cancel rush it if it gets drawn.
1 emphatic vote for reworking Crab Scuttle.
But what if we like a map? Why do we have to leave it if we’re having fun?
We had measures like DR, chat suppression, mail suppression added, in order to stop bots from ruining the economy and spamming us all.
But gold selling bots are scarce now, and are managed well. Bots farming mobs in the open are very rare. Bots farming nodes aren’t affected by DR, but they’re uncommon too now.
So maybe it’s okay to ease up on the DR, mail suppression and chat suppression? I think it’s safe.
An official answer on this is needed.
i have heard a lot of “I kind of like them but couldn’t put up with the weird flapping”
After Dragon Bash, will the dragon vendor be a permanent vendor for people to buy these weapons with tickets? Or do we need to use them before a certain date?
1h35 minute nap. not impressed
me too. relogging didn’t fix
Unshakable is pretty awful. It’s so bad that the best strategy is to not use a strategy and use all skills at your convenience, and if it works, it’s your lucky moment.
What sucks as well, is that when you use a skill (like Updraft) on someone with Defiant, it still says “Interrupt”, yet their attack continues, and yes it does damage.
The reason I asked was because the other thread was about giving another player gold so they could become a commander, and the Anet poster wrote what I quoted above.
I don’t understand this quote from an earlier topic.
“Selling any in-game item — weapon, material, gold — is disallowed.”
Does that mean selling in-game items for real money? Or is it disallowed to
1. sell a guildie some ori for gold?
2. What about bartering?
3. And sending them mats to craft you something?
4. Mesmer portal tips?
I see someone in LA writing in map chat that they’re selling some items and taking orders for others. If that was against the rules, I’d expect they’d be long ago banned.
I like how it wasn’t spaced a month apart for each stage. I didn’t forget it was happening, like Flame & Frost.
I hated Southsun before. They made the mobs even more irritating than before, with 1-shotting (actually 1 shot could kill me twice in some cases, so it’s really 0.5-shotting). You can’t do anything now without a zerg. I have never died so much in a day in my 9 months of GW2.
Culling is terrible.
Spawning out of thin air in camps is terrible.
Blooming Passion flower is good.
200% magic find doesn’t seem to make any difference. I tried farming before all this in southsun, and got more powerful bloods then and in less time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was completely not working. Or if the crazed karka drop rate was adjusted to be 250% worse than regular. The junk drops just pay for repair and waypoint bills.
All in all, the event is more stressful and makes me angry than a video game should. I rate the event 3/10.
Getting killed by a single attack from full health is almost always a bad idea. It sours my experience.
It’s made even worse by the fact that enemies appear out of thin air, and simultaneously pelt you with 5000-10000 damage multiple attacks. Dodge isn’t unlimited but their mega attacks are. It’s not even possible to dodge most times because they begin attacking before they’re even visible.
There’s no strategy. The pile of defeated players can attest that there’s a problem here. People have complained about this map being full of monsters that were overpowered and not worth it. So the response is that they get buffed and attack in zergs that are individually more powerful than a vet anywhere else.
Does anyone care about what we’re saying?? This feels like Anet holds a grudge against us and wants us to have a bad time, and lose money. Please treat us like our time and energy is worth something.
It doesn’t full heal. I’ve tried it 4 times recently, and only 1 time it full healed. The rest were just a regular rally.
Air often doesn’t teleport the target at all.
This skill has been reported bugged so badly since launch. It has only seen nerfs since then. How about fixing bugs before issuing nerfs?
yeah it happened to me too. Windows asked me to report it to ArenaNet and I did that way.
The material gets ruined if you are attacked while gathering. Usually if you take 2 or more hits after pressing F.
I was at the start of CoE, where you fight the Icebrood Elementals and Icebrood Goliath. I hadn’t killed the wolves yet, but at the time when the elementals and goliath died, I got the Ogre Slayer achievement.
I would have expected them to count as Ice Brood, or even Inquest, since it was an inquest themed dungeon.
P.S. There should be a way for us to identify what “race” the enemies count as, to make these Potion of x Slaying and Sigil of x Slaying a little more practical.
Just wondering if anyone has tested if cooldowns on 1 type of item supress another source. I don’t mean 2 sigils sharing a cooldown. I mean, does omnomberry pie share one with sigil of blood, or a rune with a proc, or a trait.
I don’t think the salvage rate is in a 10,000,000 line text file. Different parts of the game are contained in different files. Good design has it organized this way, as well as organizing mechanics so changing one element doesn’t affect an unrelated element.
Even if the mistake was that someone changed x, and it mistakenly affected y… What was the change to x?
I just don’t understand how it was accidentally changed.
I mean files on my computer don’t change themselves. I need to open them, delete a number, replace it with another number, close and save the document. How does a decrease in salvage rate accidentally happen to code?
It also says on the wiki “Items missing an icon”. I think it’s just a placeholder. It looks like a tall white shields with a blue background.
So we can use a food, a sharpening stone, and a potion of karka slaying all together?
Are there any other items that have the same icon as the karka potion?
It has a new icon, different from food & potions. Does it stack with them?
It is my impression that Guild Missions, particulary Bounty and Puzzle, and to a degree Trek, were designed to be done with the aid of a resource like Dulfy.
Can you imagine trying to find bounties without the map of their pathways, and without being told the strategy to beat them? How much time would be left to fight them?
Can you imagine trying a puzzle for the first time, with the ungenerous time given, for everyone to orient themselves, speak to the NPCs, look around trying to figure out the puzzle, and administrating who should do what to continue? Finding the traps, the keys, the consequences and learning from them takes time. Dulfy’s guide does that for us all.
Some of the Treks are anyone’s guess as to what the picture indicates. This is a pretty simple mission with dulfy.net, but without it, it would be frequently failed.
The only reasoning that makes sense to me is that ArenaNet either created missions expecting us all to watch videos and check maps before trying them for the first time. That or they want us to fail several times before being able to complete anything, although they’d have to expect dulfy.net to do what it does.
What do you think of that aspect of their design?
I’d personally like to have figured some of this out on my own, especially puzzles. I didn’t even get a chance to take in the visuals of the puzzle, let alone enjoy it. It’s like we had to choose between success or preserving the magic of new content. Some bounties I’d like to have a “dry run” of to test strategies, but there’s no time to do that, and it’s too much of an expense in time for most players to fail missions just to do learning.
Can we cut the personal attacks. Seriously, it’s so tired.
Our guild did the one in Diessa for the first time. We all used voice chat. Most of us watched the video first, though it was hard to make out what was happening. The instructions aren’t enough to describe how to do things.
Despite me telling people repeatedly “we have to stay together through every part of the dungeon. Don’t press any buttons or use anything until everyone is caught up!”, there were impulsive people who would, or who would forget, or panicked. You can’t control the behaviour of other players. And so people got locked behind. We got everyone to stop and calm down and got everyone caught up. We barely finished in time, and pretty much everyone was confused and frustrated. It would have been a nightmare without me reading this thread first.
From experience I can say that drop rate has decreased quite a bit. I harvest all herbs in metrica province and caledon forest daily ever since the game launched and i can repport drops have been abysmal since the last major update.
Last 3 hours 300 vanilla beans. RNG is RNG, them black peppercorns will get you.
I have gone back there many times and reliably get far fewer from the same nodes. They said they changed the drop table when they removed black peppercorn, they’d have to adjust things so that there’s not an overage of vanilla with peppercorn removed, maybe they overdid it.
The only way to get 100 vanilla beans per hour is botting or TP. Prove me wrong.
