I pay more credit to people who question things that seem fishy than people who consider developers gods incapable of making a mistake. Any person here could become a developer or economist in the next game, and it wouldn’t make them any better or worse, or immune from disagreement as they are now.
As to reasons Dill might have gone up…
There’s a new recipe as of the April 30 update that uses 4 dill sprigs. It gives Toughness and Magic Find.
Considering how rare dill sprigs drop, it’s not too hard for the supply to be snatched up by players a) collecting it to use, b) collecting it to avoid paying more later, c) manipulate the market to resell higher.
It might not have been 1 person doing it, but lots of people doing any of those 3 could easily cause it.
+1 I stopped because it bothered me too much.
Answer: because wow had stealth and wow emmigrants would complain if GW2 didn’t have it, whether it’s good or bad for the game.
Yeah I agree with MLieBennett.9031 about the solution being allowing guildies to come back and help.
My guild always has people willing to escort through rushes but it seems like if someone misses a jump, no one can rez them and they take personal risk just going back to help. And it’s 4 personal risks to help 1 person. It feels really awkward. People will probably say “forget about me, go ahead”.
so i have been lied to all this time!
Thanks for the info
I’ve heard this many times, I don’t know if it’s true.
If you fight a veteran and a guaranteed 1 item. If you had 400% magic find, doesn’t that guarantee you 5 items? Because that never happens.
In fact, I don’t think I ever get more than 2 items from an enemy. Do you?
Should “more loot” be visible just by seeing 3+ items drop from enemies?
1 good drop doesn’t indicate that any change was made.
It can’t be predicted that players will be punished for not moving in a cluster. It’s unlike any other part of the game.
I can be predicted that players would be angry that this system was chosen, and that there is no warning for the punishment.
I’m glad I happened to read the forum tonight before my guild does them tomorrow for the first time.
If only someone would bug report this…
Yeah I tried figuring out a good strategy for my guild for this. We tried spamming boon removal (before patch) and knockbacks.. Didn’t work.
When might & stability were removed, we tried timing knockback as defiant ran out (By the way, Defiant never applies the right number of stacks), but our knockbacks never removed his shield. We just kept fighting and eventually, randomly the shield went down.
In order to win, you need to be lucky enough to get at least 30 seconds of unshielded time. Unlucky days cause the shield to go up immediately. Lucky days give you a minute to half-bake him before the shield goes up, and then DPS will finish him off.
I don’t remember seeing flame jellies. If that is the strategy, it needs bug fixing ASAP, as this is wasting a lot of real-life manhours when an event fails due to a bug. Furthermore, it really discourages players from participating in bounties in future attempts.
If they can’t fix it ASAP, they should temporarily remove Half-Baked Komali until they do.
I’ve never done them, but mexay sounds like he has a valid point. The people arguing are sometimes helpful but mostly being kinda rude. Maybe if s/he worded it less angrily it would have been answered in a more friendly way.
In any case, I don’t like the idea of being punished for going back to help people who fell to their deaths.
I always felt that mesmer portals were sort of cheating. Not really cheating, but avoiding gameplay that’s hard. To make guild puzzle rely on mesmer portals for all to be included doesn’t sound like a good idea to me.
Wow this became a topic about something else entirely. I was talking about the farm spot in the bottom of malchor’s, not the one with the walls (i’ve heard of that one but don’t know what it’s called).
Whether it was a reset to end this glitchy endless respawn, or to remove it, there’s no harm in telling us. We have had lots of hidden changes in updates. It’s only practical to be suspicious whenever an update comes.
•We’ve updated the game for routine maintenance only. No content changes were included.
What was meant is that the farm spot in Malchor’s has been removed.
It’s nothing to be ashamed about, it’s a positive change for the economy. So why not just write that in the patch notes?
Regardless of what is appealing to look at, we should be thinking about what is best for everybody. Not just ourselves, not just our friends, but the impact it has on all players.
The fact that it already is considered normal and not strange for women to be half-naked when going into battle, while men are fully covered, proves that people can be influenced by this. Making women look more sexual is one more push in the wrong direction.
While a few of us may be mature enough to realize how bizarre it is and not be negatively affected playing with it, it gives a bad impression to the rest. I think it’s better for gaming society in general to get out of this habit.
Why can’t they just fix the exploit rather than ruin every thing that an exploit has touched? It’s a lazy approach. By now they should have learned and should have resources to deal with it. It’s not just after launch anymore.
Confirmed, it’s now at the same time as daily reset.
Thanks
To save you some time, here is what is changed, from the patch notes:
GUILD WARS 2 USER AGREEMENT
The Guild Wars 2 User Agreement has been updated. As of March 26, 2013, each player is required to accept the amended agreement upon logging in to the game.
The amended content is as follows:
•Changed “NCsoft” to “NCSOFT” throughout.
•Added content to indicate whether the specific agreement applies to an EU or Non-EU player.
•Added link to the second regional User Agreement.
•Added definition of Guild Wars 2 Account Display Names in Section 1c.
•Added references to Guild Wars 2 Account Display Names where relevant.
You should write a disclaimer on your registration page to “Definitely do not use the same login info as you do in game”, to avoid the suspicion, and to protect members in case you got hacked.
I know it was Saturday at 7pm EST, but daylight savings time has changed the daily reset to 8pm.
Has it also changed the guild mission reset time to 8pm EST on Saturday?
There’s a couple reasons we tend not to put certain things like exploits into patch notes. I’ll go into them a bit
1. We don’t want to highlight a spot where an exploit existed, since people who would have never found the spot then go and try to find a way around our fix, or can glean something from it that inspires them to try similar things elsewhere.
2. In terms of localization of patch note text into different languages, editing, and writing the patch note up, it costs money and time for multiple people. Dedicating resources to explain we closed a particular exploit just isn’t worth the time/resources for every single one, so we’re okay with cutting it from the notes, especially if we have a lot of patch notes that are much more valuable to disseminate out, like Engineer changes and other such things.
I’m not really attached to calling it a nerf, it’s just the first word that popped into my head. The point is transparency.
1. You could just say “fixed an exploit in HotW path 1” and given no details. Covered.
2. If the translators know how to say “fixed an exploit” for other areas, they know how to say “fixed an exploit in HotW”. It doesn’t take time to write that, I just did. It’s not like there’s a character limit and you have to squeeze lines into the notes. Everything can be included. Quaggan breathing made it in.
There’s a more important cost than those few seconds, to consider in communication with customers. That is trust. Don’t cut corners on trust.
Yeah thanks for your contribution…
Unfortunately the topic is about stealth nerfs, not whether or not the hole in the wall exploit was good or bad.
The HotW hole in the wall has been closed. I’m not complaining about that change.
Just when I was thinking you guys had learned that stealth nerfs kill all trust we have in you, you do it again, nerfing the HotW hole in the wall without telling us.
Once again, we’re left wondering “what else have they changed without telling us, because we’d get mad?”.
sigh
Just got 1 of each, and these were the results.
COPPER:
Golden Dagger
Golden Warhorn
Outrider’s Leggings
Drake Scale Legs
Molten Harpoon
SILVER:
Golden Warhammer
Golden Greatsword
Outrider’s Coat
Forge Staff
Paws of Coda
GOLD:
Golden Bow
Scaled Pauldrons
Guild Gauntlets
Drake Scale Coat
Kodan Scepter
A lot of the same stuff, with the same number of items in each.
Copper costs 1 ticket, silver costs 3, gold costs 5.
Is there an advantage in getting the gold chest for 4 more tickets? Is the advantage worth it?

Nope. Enemy comes back to make you kill it again.

Apatia was tedious enough before. 2 missions in a row in the same annoying jumping tower. Then 2 wasted waypoint fees to trinity and back for no reason, then that same jumping tower in a 3rd mission. I’m convinced the in-between mission to trinity was just because it was obviously uncreative to do 3 missions in a row scaling the same krait tower.
I’m so glad I didn’t have to do it again with OP krait.
I was wondering what “you were hit for 23,000 by Unknown using Explode” was about. It might be more strategic if I even had any idea what hit me and how to counter it next time. As it is now, it’s just a random 1-shot.
Yeah the Arcanist Lab DE is insane right now. Something is wrong with the scaling, like the NPCs are being treated as players or something. One time we had 3 Champion krait at once to deal with. Needless to say it was a massive wipe.
You can rally from the grubs though.
I agree with the OP, but it’s not an issue for me personally because most of my experiences with PUGs have been bad. And there’s a risk of being booted out before the final boss, and I’m not putting myself in that position. That’s more unacceptable to me. I found a big active guild that luckily spares me from having to play with the selfish and unfriendly.
Currently, nothing deserves loot like big, rapid damage numbers on as many enemies as possible.
I think more things should be considered.
Example 1:
In the ascalon/charr fractal, big groups of Ascalonians rush the party. I start out with chill, stun, and cripple fields to make the group more manageable for my party. Often I’ll throw a heal in near the start to buffer the initial damage while all of the enemies are still alive & attacking. THEN I will start using attacks.
Summary: I play with team-mindedness and strategy.
Result: I don’t get hits in on enemies who die first, and don’t deal enough damage to be deemed worthy of loot. The ones who race to ’zerker for max loot for themselves get rewarded. The support user actually helps the ’zerkers to get a higher % of damage.
Example 2:
I came to the Claw of Jormag late. I threw down 2 meteor showers on his claw + other AoEs, I healed the group on the ledge multiple times, rezed 3 people manually and 3 more with Signet of Renewal. I attacked an ice pillar and a champ. A guildie came in just before the end, running right up to claw. He got a couple of attacks in and got downed. I ran into the danger zone to rez him and seconds later it ended. I didn’t get a medal credit but he did.
Summary: Rezing, healing, helping in many areas vs helping yourself & doing damage.
Result: User discouraged from helping others or paying attention to all aspects of the event. The lesson is to auto-attack the claw for the duration and let others rez.
Example 3:
Tanks can kite and take lots of damage. They allow others to let loose on their attacks without needing to dodge or heal. Tanks don’t get to make big numbers pop up and hit all targets (even though all targets are hitting them) because of their healing, blocking and kiting activity.
Summary: Tanks provide a valuable contribution.
Result: Tanks don’t get credit for kills, and allow others to get extra credit, and loot is given to the others.
I think more consideration should be given to kill credit for those who help in ways that don’t make white numbers pop.
They could just say “Do you want to waypoint to Frostgorge Sound (Overflow)” before waypointing the first time. That would save us loading time.
This happens sometimes and I have no idea why, but an example from yesterday:
imbued grawl shaman fotm fight. The grubs spawned and I got downed. I chose a target that had about 50% health. I hit it 3 times with my downed #1 skill and when it died, I remained down. I tried finding another target but got killed before I could kill it.
There have been other times where this happens with enemies I had been attacking while up, and I think “it’s okay once they die I’ll rally” and it doesn’t happen.
No matter what group I do at any level, if we pick up crystals for the final attack, some people are completely spared, while others get downed.
We can find no rhyme or reason to this.
Also, the animation for the laser sometimes doesn’t even show up, and for 2 guildies, the icon never appears when they are targetted (only others’ skull icons show up).
I can only speak for light armor, but many of the coats have these flared sleeves that hide gauntlets. There are some nice chest pieces that I can’t use because their built-in arm coverage overrides the hand items I chose.
If you made a checkbox over chest that hid the sleeves, it would solve this problem AND introduce more skin options without having to design any additional armor.
If you speed it up when it’s almost done, do you have to pay the full speed-up price? Or is it based on how much is remaining?
Just wondering if there’s a situation where jumping in combat can be useful.
Same with the dyes except I sold them at 6s. Oh man.
Also, I clicked Buy instead of place a custom offer, on an exotic. A 2g mistake.
We will be deploying a fix for this bug in the build for Flame and Frost: The Gathering Storm, coming at the end of this month.
So this didn’t happen. Are we kittened?
We used to be able to farm them pretty well in Maelstrom. I’d harvest vanilla from every 3 or so herbs there.
They altered the loot table there so black peppercorns wouldn’t drop anymore. Nothing was mentioned about vanilla beans…
I went today and in 15 harvests, I got 0 vanilla beans (see log, artichoke garden after 1st harvest). I mentioned it in map chat and another person watched their results from 10 harvests and got vanilla once in a stack of 5.
Not a huge test but way lower than any past runthrough I’ve done there.
How has your gathering gone?
Posting a chat screenshot with linked rares and exotics doesn’t prove anything. It doesn’t even prove that the user has those items. They could be linked from gw2db using codes (for less work that grinding 2 hours). Or they could be bought on the tp.
And gold in the bank doesn’t prove a thing either.
The truth is, if everyone had this same awesome chance at good loot, this thread wouldn’t exist.
I ran 3 paths of AC one day, then 3 of CoF the next day. 2 Fractals the next 2 days. Waiting for a rare or exotic drop throughout the whole time. Got only an exotic sigil from the dungeons and 1 rare light coat from the fractals. Where were my 22 rares? That was more than 2 hrs of playing the game actively and in a party.
No one here can understand what is so fishy about the loot system. That’s because the truth isn’t being shared with us.
And no one can believe anyone else’s anecdotes because they are radically different. And no one can trust anyone else’s ability to retell a story accurately because humans are terrible at that.
My friend started playing gw2 on wrong server

Did something change?
A person wanted to join our guild, and after deleting their characters it still said “your home server is” and they couldn’t transfer.
Because players would chop them down gathering logs!
Agreed on all of it.
I even asked an employee in-game who answered a couple of silly questions. I asked about the vet drop thing. He took off in a flash.
But then if that sort of life is what you wish, you may grow up to be a fish.
GW2 has ruined all mmos for me. I think all future games are going to be run like this. GW2 seemed to be the shining beacon that would respect the player and our time, but even it got corrupted.
I now believe every MMO is run by dishonest people and are going to string me along, making my experience frustrating, unrewarding and a waste of time in order to pressure me into paying to win. And I feel like as a community we are enabling them more and more to release bugged content and unfinished games due to our impatience, fickleness or addiction. They’re going to find better and better ways of manipulating customers, duping them, pressuring them. I see it as only getting worse in the future and will stay away from MMOs after I can’t bear GW2 anymore.
You better fix Lifetime Survivor!!!
This doesn’t have to be something that is ruined because of botters.
And why does

Why not make it so that if a person repeats AND gets reported for spamming, then they get excessive messaging.
Nov 15 – the day loot got ruined
Jan 28 – the day loot got ruineder
Feb 26 – the day loot gets ruinederer?
I dread each new patch because the game gets tighter and tighter. 6 dungeons in a row, no rares. 2 fractal runs in a row, 1 proper rare and 1 exotic useless sigil (that shouldn’t count as an exotic. maybe if they were forgeable/salvageable…).
Salvage rates dropped in nov. Forge rates have been terrible for me recently. Personal experience means more to me than any PR statement, and we’ve seen how statements have been blatant lies (vet guaranteed drops).
I’m running out of things worth doing in the game, it’s like I’m being boxed out of every aspect. Does Anet want me to stop playing??
What does it do when you activate the lower crystal?
I paid attention to it today and waited for the last stack to be removed before using my knockdown.
It didn’t work. Someone must have done 2 in a row or something because it refilled the stacks. gg
Also, for a 5-person fractal, it gave 6 stacks of defiant. "Unshakable will grant the boss as many charges of Defiant as players are in the area. " Bug?
I have read the wikis and the above messages and still don’t get it.
From my understanding:
A dungeon with a party of 5 will fight a boss with Unshakeable.
A party member uses knockdown and the boss gets knocked down, and then gets 5 stacks of Defiant.
Defiant makes them immune to some (unknown which) CC effects. So the party needs to hit him with 5 more to be able to use another CC.
Is that right?
If so, there’s not really any strategy to it. You don’t all decide as a party “applying 1 CC now, 4 more to go”. A lot of the time they happen automatically. Even if you watched the symbol (as it slides left and right rapidly as conditions/boons change), it would just be lucky if you got your CC done at the right moment before someone else’s caused it to reset.
It seems like it’s not meant to be used intelligently, it’s just a complicated way of saying “every 6th CC works”. Unless I’m misunderstanding the mechanic.
