Team Play!? thieves not that bad. actually they can be a life saver. shadow refuge then rez your mate. is a big help for the team! u can easily finish by CnD finish, black powder finish, shadowstep stomp finish, when finishing an enemy thief. use any shadow step if they teleport somewhere. only hard classes to finish @ one time are the eles and mesmers.

thief can be the worst class in game if u didn’t know how to maximize their capability. being an average/fair/good thief is not enough… but imo this is the most OP class when u played it very well/superb playing!

anet tend to do this for bunkers. cuz bunker ele and mace/shield staff bunker guardians almost unkillable. in which any thieves cant compete with these bunkers. and bunker build is the most popular build in all classes in spvp tpvp wvw. so they want thieves as boon destroyers. as well as warriors +3%dmg per/boon new trait.

btw forget the WvW videos on mid part of my video. ain’t that good and bad opponents. that was my newbie times.

When I run it it’s always as a second set and open with D/D blossoms and trops then switch (geomancy sigil for 3 extra stacks) and then the usual P/D rotation. Makes it more interesting as this set gets boring fast on it’s own.

frans is right and put sigil of corruption and sigil of agony. or sigil of earth(if you’re using rampager’s set)… but i tried that rampager’s set. not worth it cuz low HP and low attack power, always critical hit but u hav 0% crit dmg so useless… id rather use Carrion! yes Carrion all the way!

and in hotjoin spvp they’re just rollin to my bed of caltrops lol im just kiting around to my caltrops. when some melees trying to catch me. i tried this in tpvp when there are high ranked pvpers 40+ 50+ my P/D didn’t go that well. i sitll prefer S/D or D/P

this is fun to use in spvp cuz of placing caltrops on capping point. but in real P/D conditions is not good againts very good players if they know how to counter this build. just don’t ever try the P/D thief cast his CnD to u. when hes trying to gettin close. evade forward counter his movespeed cuz hes just trying to get close and cast his CnD

side note: P/D was way better before the caltrops nerf and was better before everyone knew how to counter it. Although I still play it as my main build in wvw and s pvp, It’s just too much dam fun.

i tried all builds. D/D glass canon burst, D/P, S/D, S/P but this P/D condi build and S/D flanking evade are the funniest build to play!

Also, the build in the OP is not the one in the video, the utilities are all different.

Body Shot is a complete waste of initiative in any P/ set. P/D dual skill is okay and is fast, but when #5 can stealth you so you reposition yourself AND have access to Sneak Attack, you end up ignoring it. During betas it didn’t need to land the strike to get the teleport and was a very useful skill, but it was changed and right now you prefer to save your initiative.

The main rotation for P/D is getting all your initiative for CnD, and keep adding bleed through main attack and sneak attack, with the ocassional use of #4 when someone is trying to kite.

yeah cuz not all the time i can land my CnD perfectly. there are some blocks, evade, blind. instead of using 3. il just gonna CnD re stealth again and re-position again.

i just started playing P/D yesterday 5 hrs. of sPvP and imo this is the easiest thief build that u can play! just land your cloak and dagger right. for newbie thieves i recommend u this build for sPvP . i havent tried it yet to WvW. Build is posted on the description of my youtube video. enjoy!

i just tried pistol dagger condition thief yesterday! posted a video on thief forum and in just 1 day (5hours pvp) i mastered it! and for me its the easiest thief build to play. unlike the S/D hardest one! followed by D/P

Try venoms 30-0-20-20-0 leeching venoms plus increased recharge rate plus healing and damage on steal. Also rune of the adventurer is nice to help keep dodging.

Only cons in this build is aoe condition spam like trapper rangers w/20% cooldown on traps and aoe condi necros.

regen beast mastery rangers are beast now! theyre tanky. they usually use rabid trinket (spvp) with 3,300+ armor and unlimited heal regen+signet of the wild! and the buffed signets like signet of stone which adds 160toughness. and their main dmg is condition and basically pets! iv fought a very good ranger with this build and we ended up draw! we get tired after 10mins of duel LOL

None of the level 80’s he fought were good for small skirmishes. Staff ele, low dps hammer warrior…and the guardian that you killed was being owned by the grub (you went down to it as well).

Terrible gameplay vs terrible opponents, pretty much sums up wvw, I stopped watching when you didn’t down that staff ele. zZz… 5(black powder)->2(heartseeker) to backstab.. that’s all it looks like you’re doing, you didn’t even open with a burst combo.

ahhhh. i run a similar one …atleast when i play s/d….i run 0 30 20 20 0 as i can run s/d and d/p at same time. gives me more options against more builds and better survivability with s/d against larger groups that know what they are doing.

i stopped the video at 5 mins. only targeting upscales 5 kills in a row is a really bad way to portray strength/efficacy in build. usually they have ground targeting and stun/cc instead of reviving the one guy thats downed. idk not picking on it just wanna see it against real players that might give a challenge.

how do you record anyway? i dont even have the program.

razer game booster and its 100% free 10mins of 720p vids is like 100mb – 110mb… before im a fan of 30 critical strikes hidden trait 100% crit while invi.. but now NEVER!. arena net buffed all the signets in game. my signet of agility gives 8%-9% critical chance higher! so even if i wear valkyrie armor sets with only 20 critical strikes trait… i can reach 57% crit chance! + the 7% crit chance while hit behind or side. 5% crit chance while hp above 90%… so in total 57%7%+5% = 69%! crit chance is not bad though.

just to show my build and how effective it is. cuz almost everyday 4 – 8 ppl pming me what armors and exact traits am using so that’s why. 550subscribers on youtube is huge.

so my previous build which is 10/30/30/0/0. d/d and d/p semi spike burst d/d then switch to d/p is outdated cuz mug doesnt crit anymore and i feel that they reduced dmg of mug. my build is on the last part of vid.

condi builds own this….. good 1 v 1 i suppose against alot of builds…. but not in group play :P not fast enough to kill…..and no sustainable recovvery in hp or in condi removal. fun as hell tho. i play 0 30 20 20 0 and works alot better in larger group play…or i play 10 0 30 30 0 for p/d bleed invis escape build for zergs that i never die in but to each their own. fun to watch.

if u gonna play unseen D/P build in gw2.. since assassins in gw1 has no stealth.. probably the stealth abuse D/P wud win

it really depends on the situation. sometimes i do play D/D cuz at this scenario when i jump off the cliff lots of invaders and the area is small so i can’t do the D/P unseen way BlackPowder+HS HS HS. it will just make myself revealed after the 2nd HS. so better choice Cloak and dagger.

yes if u have the shadow’s embrace trait.Instantly removes 1 condition upon entering stealth and continues to do so every 3 seconds. actually it is the counter to all condition builds. if i dnt have it maybe im dead in less than a minute lol

I have seen good game play of both for WvWvW… but I have a general question.
Is one better than the other overall, or do they both have unique strengths?

I ask that because from experience fighting both types of thieves and from watching their game play, I have found that they both basically rely on the permanent stealth (well… thieves generally do)…

The major difference I notice is that with D/D, they focus on health/toughness more so with armor while their traits are offense oriented.
The D/P builds I have seen seem to have more defense oriented builds while the armor is primarily berserker…

What do you guys prefer in WvWvW?

I have been leaning towards D/P + S/D
(S/D secondary because I bought a Firebringer sword skin a while back… and don’t want it to collect dust in the bank).

after the RTL patch they gonna bring back the 3secs revealed buff in WvW, Yishi’s 1 vs X zerg slaying video is good example.
