  1. infiltrator strike+PW or pre cast PW+steal or infiltrator’s signet easy burst and unlike backstab dont bother about positioning to make huge burst So i think its time to increase initiative cost of PW, i play thief as main but i admit i feel cheap thief when using this PW and low risk high reward cheese builds aint fun to play just like most of heal signet condi bunker warrs including this PW so i play s/d shortbow acro or d/p trickery burst high risk but good reward!

when d/p thief does invis feel his movements after few sec try to kite dodge when u see “Evade” UI around you that means hes just behind you trying to backstab then use aoe cluster bomb around you or #3 evade and when you’re using S/P u can pistol whip him just face which side or direction this “evade” UI appear. but as always a really good thief is hard to counter so depends.

The answer is, we don’t. My first 80 was an Elementalist. After that, I started a Thief which I got up to 74, a Necro which I got up to 22, and now I have a Warrior that is 80. Also have alts of every class.

Also, when I was in the Alpha before I started here, I mostly played Guardian and Ranger to lvl80. This was before they had implemented events in any of the lvl50+ maps. I had a friend that helped me grind up, and we would run around showing off that we hit 80 by grinding mobs.

I dunno why I shared that whole thing, but the point is that we definitely all play a variety of classes, just like you!

i think hes talking about PvP not PvE grinding

so the main goal of the current high tier tpvp right now is that the longer can survive and can hold capture points for ages will win, so it was like watching Floyd Mayweather fights the most boring fighter of all time but with best boxing record of 45 – 0 and very few knockout victory!

i really enjoyed GW1 pvp so much playing Team arena, Random arena and hero battle for 2 – 3 years! but in gw2 been playing pvp for morethan a year but i feel tired and bored i dunno why maybe because these very long stealths, illusions, petting zoo (spirit ranger, MM necro), massive conditons and very strong condition damage at the same time very tanky/healing builds really destroys the game

well that 30 trickery pistol whip thief did a really good job in 2v1 situation againts to that same pistol whip thief and a necro! it takes skill, he play really well with that shadow steps thingy.

i think arena net should implement other game modes like deathmatch just like random arena/team arena in GW1 i had so much fun during those gw1 pvp days, and GvG or Heroes Ascent that needs someone to run the flag to gain Team’s Morale Boost! and please enough for these Conquest Game mode! and another new maps but same old sh#t Conquest

after Dec.10 patch. just wondering what will happened to your zerker thief when a hammer Warrior jumps on you and while your long cooldown breakstun is on CD?

OR just wondering when a Mace skullcrack caught you cuz it only have 8secs short cooldown while your breakstun is 50secs. then 100Blades! i only think one way how to survive! ALT – F4!

healing signet is OP.

You know, just saying something is OP doesn’t make it so.

It’s a passive healing skill that heals for a little more than other warrior healing skills. For a class that according to Anet is supposed to have high survivability, it doesn’t seem too OP to me.

of course just saying something doesnt make it so. i thought what i was saying would be common knowledge by now (just like the skullcrack cd being too short is common knowledge, or perplexity runes needing a cooldown, etc), but i guess not. let me explain the problem:

with zero healing power, a warrior matches or greatly exceeds the passive regen of almost all other classes even when those classes have 1000 healing power.

healing signet at zero healing power: 392 h/sec.

lets take a look at similar skills (at 1000 healing power):
elementalist healing signet: 303 h/per cast. Casts average less than 1 per sec, even for dd, so approximately 50-75% of this value. 150-225 h/sec.
thief healing signet: 150 h/per attack. Attacks average slightly more than 1 per sec, so approximately 125-200% of this value. 187-300 h/sec.
keep in mind, these signets require the classes to be attacking, while the warrior signet is fully passive and he can just be blocking or jumping around waiting for his skull crack cooldown while unstoppable from dogged march+ melandru+lemongrass or some other rediculous shenanigans.

how bout comparing the signet without any healing power to a full blown bunker with 1k healing power? a rangers BM signet will tic for ~120 h/sec, his regeneration boon will tic for ~240 h/sec, and his natural healing will tic for 60 h/sec (never mind that no one would ever take both perma-regen from natures voice and passive regen from natural healing) for a total of: ~420. With 3 sources of health regen, the ranger with 1k healing comes to what is basically a near tie with a warrior who not only has no healing power, but also has room to improve if he bothered to pick up some regen (say, from banners or his group mates).

there is nothing wrong with a warrior’s signet ticcing for 400/sec or even 500/sec. whats wrong is that it doesnt actually require any investment to reach levels that take other classes tremendous investment (which seems to be a common theme among warriors, free 18k health, heavy armor, yet nearly the same damage output as everyone else who didnt receive those things).

The signet should be ticcing for far less baseline, and scale better off of healing power. 400 h/sec should be something warriors see when they run clerics gear, not dps gear or soldiers gear.

you did not include Adrenal Health but imo moving this to 25 Defense. Grand Master (Minor) trait is a good more balance idea?

The only thing I see this accomplishing is narrowing build diversity, forcing everyone to play d/p trickery or play Warrior.

I don’t know what you plan to gain by destroying S/D and completely burying the already dead S/P, but these sets need buffs, not nerfs. I thought the complaint was that S/D only has 2 usable skills and only 1/3 of the sword autos. Now you want it to ONLY be 3 spam?

The previous patch was aimed in this direction as well—instead of nerfing the damage or initiative forcing more tactful use of FS, you instead remove one of the boonsteals so now you are FORCED to spam it to get past that regen and vigor that gets applied every 3 seconds to get to the protection so your team can actually damage the target. Oh that Might at the very end there? Don’t even think about stealing that anymore. There’s no way you’re ever stealing anything other than regen and the occasional protection.

PS: One of the funniest moments in this game is when I’m playing mace/gs warrior and bait a thief back to his shadow return point and skull crack him>100b for a 1hko. I can’t imagine how incredibly faceroll it would be if I didn’t even have to try to bait him when he doesnt have the shadowsteps or interrupts+blinds that either of the current viable builds offer. Well, that’s if anyone would be stupid enough to run sword mainhand after these proposed changes.

exactly! i feel the same way cuz i just tried Mace+GS and my easiest victims are thieves! after my 1st skullcrack, theyre forced to breakstun (shadowstep) then when my nxt mace skullcrack hits again! switch to GS 100Blades! and the poor zerker thief’s 70%-80% HP just melted LOL

Whatever, man. Look, I gotta admit it: the skill level required to get excellent results on a warrior is so incredibly low as compared to a thief is absolutely kittening ridiculous, and yet it’s the thieves that keep getting nerfed still. I’ve written so much about the thief and how to counter it, and have even provided ANet with the means of mathematically proving its balance, and not only have they completely ignored me, but they have in fact swayed with the mindless sheep droning on without end because of their own lack of skill.

Personally, I’m still going to play thief. I’ve played thief since I first got the game, and I find every other profession far too boring to even touch (excluding, maybe, mesmer). I also love the mobility that I get on my thief. I will, however, say one thing in particular: ever since necros became OP, I’ve been playing full zerker gear, which is optimal against condi builds but is generally more fun to play anyways. Since then, however, the purpose has shifted from being directed against condi builds to being against ridiculously OP warrior builds in general. If I don’t run zerker, I don’t do any damage and I get smashed anyways. If I do run it, then I take a huge risk that relies entirely upon my own skill while my opponent facerolls the keyboard. I do an insanely small amount of damage while having to stay at a range and time my dodges well. On the other hand, if I get hit more than once or twice, I’ll probably just drop dead.

I also now have to run 3(!!!) stun breakers as well + shadow return along with immobilize/cripple/chill breakers via Shadow Returns, Withdraws, and Roll for Initiatives at suboptimal times. I still run my 10/0/0/30/30 build, but the amount of effort in order to get anything done is almost ridiculous. Furthermore, guardians have now become so ridiculously difficult to kill that I usually take only two or three stabs at them before I decide to simply walk away. I’ve seen groups of 5-10 people in WvW unable to take down a guardian easily because of how stupid they are right now.

But no, ANet, thieves, of all professions, are completely OP.

i played double s/d thief for 2-3 months pvp until i mastered the effectiveness and right timing for dodging. but this mace+GS i just played for 3 hours pvp and i really like the result! i just tried the hammer+longbow build and its more OP LOL! so you’re probably right, playing a very squishy Zerker but evasive Thief takes a very high skill level of playing to dominate! cuz once you hav caught in a wrong situation.. you’re prolly dead!

everythings perfect! good job Anet! i mainly play thief since beta! but ya the D/P perma stealthing is just fine its really annoying to see 30 shadow arts thieves are almost unkillable in pvp/wvw, but:

to make things balance:

Move Mesmer’s Phantasmal Fury to Master Trait
Gain Base HP of Phantasm illusions for like 10%

Most Weird Changes is the thief’s Quick Recovery (Acrobatics)
Gain 1 initiative (10 secs cooldown) ? is a bit weird maybe make it 1 initiative / 7secs. cooldown

honestly saying the 30 shadow arts D/P stealth bacsktab really hard to kill in wvw and pvp, so this new balance patch for other classes and thief are all fine and balance! many players been doing 4HS in blackpowder in pvp and wvw which can result to perma stealthing, im excited for this new balance patch! more challenging and needs more skill level to be viable in pvp/wvw. i mainly play S/D+Shortbow, S/P and burst D/P (no shadow arts)

Looks as though you have Sleight of Hand and Mug traited, which I think is what causes this. It’s happened to me a number of times where Basilisk Venom triggers upon Mug’s damage, but the daze seems to cancel out the stun somehow, allowing your target to keep moving.

seems like after the october 15 patch. basilisk venom’s duration slightly decrease, now it only does 1sec stun, foe can move while petrified in last 0.5 sec duration of petrified stun (basilisk venom)

The Good:
• Ranger pets received a considerable HP buff. I noticed how much longer they last on PVE and because of their longer lifespan they are a bit more useful.

The Bad:
• Ranger’s pets are not yet improved. The AI still sucks and it takes forever to get the F2 to work. Their damage is pretty subpar too…

The Missing:

• Ranger traits need to be revised.
• It was said the ranger weapons would be revised and even changed… what happened to that?

rangers are fine now only thing they need to change is sometimes they react 3 – 5secs late when u used F2. but still spirit rangers are very good in tpvp @ all scenario! 1v1 or team clash! most wanted class in tPvP

give us your thoughts S/D thief players! for me imo i more like the old FS it does evading attack + 2nd attack no steal boon but only cost 4 initiative. or maybe make Larcenous strike ripping 2 boons (not stealing boons) cuz i don’t care about taking/stealing and having boons, all i want is to rip off enemy boons like protection, healing or stability cuz boon dependent classes like bunker guardians or bunker staff eles, and bunker warriors with long stability boon are pain in the @ss in high rank tPvP! they can hold area points for like forever!

GooD:

- Tab Targeting changes
- Condition Floaters
- Sigil of paralyzation fixed
- New Ele Changes
- New Guardian Changes
- “Sick Em” Ranger Skill is good
- Warrior’s Staggering Blow (u can now move while casting awesome! )

BaD:

- Immobilize stacking
- Warriors are overbuffed, especially Healing Signet Shout Condition Warrs are very very hard to kill ya harder than bunker guardians.
- S/D Thief Larcenous nerfed again
- Warrior’s Staggering Blow previous castimg time is more balance imo
- Body Shot, im not gonna spend my 4initiatives only for this 1sec immobilize

Thoughts:
honestly the old 4 initiative flanking strike is better, spending 5 initiatives for FS>Larcenous’s slow casting time 0.5 sec+steal 1 boon is nothing. i love S/D only for evading attacks and the decent amount damage of 2nd strike. Forget about “Boon Hate Mechanic” that you guys have talked about 6 months ago

When a backstab/basilisk venom thief goes stealth hes predictable he gonna attack @ your back he can only stun you for 1.5secs and there are many breakstun skills in Gw2 and cooldowns isnt that long unlike in WoW and thieves can’t compete toe to toe against warriors and guardian without retreating and resetting fights/initiatives then re-engage unlike in Rogue in WoW has this Stun Lock rotation Cheap Shot, muti, muti, kidney shot, muti, gouge, ( regenerate some of your energy ) then follow up with a muti and / or Envenom. Target should be dead and y a can prolly compete toe to toe againts warriors and guardians. . . if gonna chose Rogues in WoW are a way way stronger than rogue/thief in GW2

Never heard of a short HS. What’s the advantage to that? I can see a short DB to keep from falling off cliffs. Is it so you can leap finisher in fields without a target?
