Erm as a company don’t they need to declare to the government what their profit margin is so they can pay tax? You guys are acting like “cost of creating HoT” has no number attached.. You can’t just say “sell for £25 and sell more than £35” they have set a cost of development and projection on sales per unit and clearly have found their projection on £35 is best for the company. They need to generate profit for their shareholders and pay tax and wages and cover costs of development – you can’t just ask them to charge less money and maybe more will be sold…
All these factors need to be worked into the cost of a sale and so slashing 30% off the price to customer impacts the profit margin and that makes the product less viable – remember by law they have shareholders, tax and wages to consider – not to mention company liquidity and future planning – Anet will also be publishing GW2 from now on. Thats a lot of responsibility and burden.
Everyone likes things cheaper, that doesn’t mean the thing you want can survive if it is…
It would be nice if you could sacrifice 6 Runes of whatever set to create a permanent drop down selection for the Legendary Armour (just cause runes have such a massive impact on builds).
Actually they have a predefined order, it uses Karma Boosters first, if you wanted to avoid them using Karma Boosters you should have banked them first.
I would suggest bag slots for your favourite character – good luck.
I can tell you I always built my PVE character to be as tanky as possible, full Soldiers armor with Zerker Trinks/Weps on my old main my Hammer Guardian, I just lied when joiing 5 man groups (no one seemed to notice).
This expansion I’m going the same path with my Reaper.
You realise you’re running 60% zerker with that setup, of course no one notices if the group is running at 92% instead of 100% thats got to be within player skill differences. You being a liar though is an issue…

Well something to remember when thinking about Mordremoth which was slipped in (quite easy to miss) was he is the Dragon of Nature and Mind – so the communication could be unique to him.
Does anyone know if FSP produces special weapon effects for Chronomancer? Just from trying it on the beta?
None of the offhand only Legendaries produce footsteps (I’m pretty sure anyway), some have skill effects though and animations.
raids are not designed for PuGs.
OK, can you point to a official post that states that Raids are only for guild groups?
Designed for premade groups doesn’t mean pugs can’t try them and complete them but they will be tuned for an organised group. Don’t throw the word “only” in there to try and make it look like people are being excluded…

You cried your glory boosters were deleted – you were warned to use them Months in advance. They were USELESS after a point in time and you still wanted them? (or just didn’t use them all in time – either way it makes no difference). This was a WORTHLESS example of Anet taking an item from you, thats what I showed with the quotes..

But that was the small difference that we needed ZERO healers .. no longer waiting
with the group because you didn’t find a healer.
Other classes can provide the Healing support, Anet’s philosophy wasn’t “no healers” it was “no unique healer class” every other class can generate group healing and support to cover for the day your healer isn’t there.
Everyone here is thinking “druid best healer can’t replace with 1 other class” BUT you’re not considering small tweaks to multiple other group members with zero healing power investment can cover for it (healing power doesn’t scale well incase you didn’t notice).
So you can have your entirely focused healer or spread it out over the group.

I dunno if its a big deal but after my glory boosters were deleted and my FotM level reset you start to see a trend. ANet a few times now deciding its ok to simply remove or delete things.
So I dunno if its a big deal but its certainly a problem that they delete things with impunity.
Then again if your new to the game ‘one type of booster’ is not a big deal.
Well your Glory Booster removal is a joke right?
Glory was removed as a reward with the March 18, 2014 game update, making this item (Glory Booster) and the effect it grants useless. Players who bought glory boosters with gems and didn’t use them before the update can get a refund.
Glory Boosters stopped being being sold in the Gem Store on February 11, 2014.

You are right on the quality of the (existing) content. Dodging has always been the crutch upon which every zerker leans. Which is why I haven’t posted this before. From what I’ve seen of HoT (Druid, Revenant ((Ventari)), the first zone of HoT, Raids having a need for roles) ANet are taking content steps to address the balance. I’m not sure it’ll be enough which is why I think, on the back of the xpac, the game is in a good position for a fundamental revision of one of its core aspects.
One way to keep this relevant in older (existing) content is the increased damage from mobs and probably a reduced delay in their attack sequences (at least for those who only attack once every 3 seconds).
I agree with what you’ve said about mob attacks and design so far. I’m not sure your change will actually help the situation unless you add Condi Duration, Boon Duration (these both can be made Condi/Boon Specific), possibly Energy Regen, Profession Mechanic Regen (these are just examples fromt he top of my head) as gear stats. New stats will be required to add back depth.
If we implement your change without adding more depth to the stat choices we end up with everyone being Zerker but with more Condi damage and 2 defensive stats (Toughness and Healing for Med/High base HP and Vit and Healing for Low Base HP – Healing for both because most classes accidently splash out group heals through Regen or random effects, if they don’t Tough and Vit). This will not make the game any more diverse than it is currently.
Remember in EVERY MMO gear is always ‘the maximum DPS you can get away with and complete the encounter.’ (Unless you’re only making this change to force the current set of people who refuse to take a damage efficient build into taking a damage efficient build – remember you’re going to turn all those people who say "I don’t want to be a Zerker, I want to be a Cleric’ into a Zerker – whether they want it or not).

This system with the current choices would just get everyone running Assassin’s I guess. Also you’ll need to rebalance Condi specs (again).
Imagining you removed lots and lots of choices and ended up only with combinations of Vit, Tough, Heal, Condi and maybe 1 of the Power, Prec, Fero you’d just end up with Condi/(whatever defensive stat is best for you)/(whatever left over DPS stat is for you) gear chosen across all profs. Again for maximum DPS.
The issue has never been the gear but the encounters and how efficient active defense is at dealing with all current sources of damage.
Anet want to keep the active defense and frankly they cannot remove it anyway as DODGE is such a core mechanic, the change to any meta will always revolve around the encounters and core mechanics – gear is just going to be “choose the highest DPS you can get away with and complete the content.” Its a secondary consideration and dictated by the design.
Nice QoL changes and PU needed a reduction – good balancing

My favourite part is “I am this world, you are a part of me, it is time to come home.” Elton John zooms in on his piano THE CIIIIRCLE OF LIIIFE. Yes your bodies WILL become the grass!!!
PS. Loved Mord wasn’t fleshy or “dragon” shaped.
I moved from my last game to GW2 exactly because i was tired to wait for hours for healers.
Just curious where do people find this info on todays MMOs. Cause even on low population games, healers are probably the easiest role to find. Much harder to find a good dps or a good tank, especially dps since most challenging content has a “timer”, meaning if you dont kill a boss in the given times it goes HULK SMASH.
Saying that you cba waiting hours for healers, just shows that you are clueless about MMOs and how they evolved.
Especially when a healer can just “respec” to become solid dps and vise versa, and especially when talking about the highest population MMO (GW2) and its mega-server mechanics….
Well, not all games are the same, and while it wasn’t a true mmo, in gw1 you could definately spend quite some time before you actually got a healer. Not to mention one ahs to take into account what region and time of day you play, if you’re not playing on peaktimes it will obviously take longer. Anyhow, kinda non-relevant , but jsut thought to mention that there are games out there where finding a healer isn’t the easiest to do.
Even if there are such games out there, Large MMOs are not like that.
Saying that you wonr be able to find healers in GW2 where there are unlimited amounts of players 24/7 is just laughable. This is just a typical doom and gloom thread created by the typical whiny people.
I played large MMOs with tanks and healers. Average q time for anything other than a healer is around 20-30 minutes at peak hours and up to an hour during the rest of the day. And that’s if you got a good healer. If party got unlucky you have to kick him and start again.
30 mins q time on a large MMO at peak times for top-end daily run dungs?

If you q alone as a dd and there are not that many healers that’s what you get. Of course there were occasions when q popped up in 10 minutes or so. It is still 9 minutes longer than gw2.
If you seriously believe that you will need 10 mins to find a healer in GW2, I’m wasting my time here…
It is hard to find banner bot that knows when to drop banners. So yeah. Maybe finding a guy with healer gear or healer copy pasted build will be easy but finding a guy that knows what the hell he is doing will be a lot harder.
That might make you want to keep in touch with and invite to your guild a healer that impresses you. Constructing social systems in game out of gameplay – like MMOs do.

THE GROUP CAN PROVIDE IT. You think in such small ways. If I remove the druid that doesn’t mean it can be replaced by a warrior, it means you can shift the focus of a number of other players to cover the gap…
I’ll give an example so people can try to pitcture it.
Group of 10 people raiding, using a druid for a lot of healing. Druid doesn’t turn up one evening. Response from raid leader :
We’ll need higher Protection up time, Guards can you adjust for that.
Warrior can you grab a few Shouts for that Condi Phase.
Mesmer can you bring the Well Heal, Inspiration+Chrono for Quickness Mantra of Pain Heals to top us up at that damage intensive part.
The team can adjust to cover the gap.

Healing have existed in the game since release. Why do people keep talking like healing is something that was just revealed with Druid?
Because the meta people did a fantastic job deterring its acceptance. Hilarious IMHO, all their effort in pushing their ideals has had a reverse effect and has quite literally blown up in their own face as the outcry to make it stronger has slowly but consistently gotten even louder as the zerker meta grasped tighter on PvE.
Things could have been different but no one wants to listen to reason, all these meta people needed to do was be more progressive with build acceptance.
Or maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t included because it was directly tied to the Human Gods and thus wouldn’t make all that much sense for any other race?

“The meta” is not a single thing… Meta players aren’t going to think healing has destroyed the meta – if healing is required in raids healing will be added to the meta, THATS WHAT META MEANS. Its an evolving system that seeks out optimal setups – the reason it is purely damage with avoidance support is because that is currently optimal.
If you want to join a party which doesn’t care about meta then they won’t ask for your API…
You can’t say ‘this will stop people without meta joining groups’ when all it does is stop nonmeta joining meta groups (which is exactly what both parties want – unless nonmeta actually want to sneak into meta groups).
People like using the word ‘toxic’ too much.

Its not like its a big deal to just explain the decision..It could be that higher-ups don’t allow anyone to explain it. It happened few times in the past.
People are using words like “disgusting” and “egregious” in this thread, do you think “the booster evolution has been an iterative project and with change people will lose out, we wanted to remove Karma Boosters from the collective booster for reason X” will mean anything to these crazies?
The best course of action is to ignore this thread – because Karma Boosters are insignificant and frankly people acting like this is a big deal need to get some perspective.
I assume the Teamq model will remain 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 people can enter? Just be aware if the number of 1 players decreases (joining Teamq) too much it will be pretty frustrating for 2, 3 and 4 man groups.
Queue times will increase BUT with HoT coming out and F2P there probably isn’t going to be a better time to hope volume of players helps out.
I don’t know how easy it is for Anet to swap and change the queue systems but if they wanted to experiment I guess now is the time. If not I can’t blame them.

With a soloqueue many other combinations in ranked queue are kittened, no 2-2-1, 4-1,3-1-1, 2-1-1-1.
Basically anet should remake the queue system with soloqueue and full 5 men team only, to not create issues.
I’m not saying is a bad idea, probably full team queue + soloqueue is the best thing for this game right now to avoid matchamking complaints, considering, the actual matchmaking can’t match properly roster size every time.
But I’m really sure we won’t get soloqueue for the first season, maybe for the second season if the complaints will be huge.

The alternative is what we have now, different roster size matched in the ranked queue with a lot of unbalanced games.
Before we had soloqueue and team queue with a totally different matchamking,no map voting, no team leaderboard and no pvp leagues.
It would be a big difference a soloqueue + a teamqueue right now. Full 5 men teams are really incentivated to go on teamqueue, They have an elo leaderboard, different rewards and access to major tournaments.
I know your points and appreciate them, just want to keep in everyone’s mind the tradeoffs and issues that the change of system would bring. As I said earlier if there was a time to try go back to split soloq/teamq now could be the right time (due to HoT and new F2P players) – but don’t for a moment believe it will all be positive, there will be some negative impacts too (mainly wanting to queue with <5 people).
I’ll take every choice on its own merit, I’m not trusting of the Sylvari though.

He is under the impression that the BONUS chest is the only thing under the 1-a-day rule. This is why I have repeatedly posted because no one else seems to have picked up on this fact and are bringing up customer support and damage as reasons (which will not help/is nonsense).
They did fire elemental twice, frozen maw twice, and wurm once. He didn’t give a time frame on this but they did wurm once. You could argue perhaps the time wurm bugged it was due to damage and the other times they were doing world bosses twice the same game day. But this can’t account the bug or lack of damage issue for wurm.
In that same post he also says the ‘no chest’ swaps between the two players which could mean they haven’t been gaming together 100% of the time, it is entirely reasonable that one of them did wurm and elemental before their run and the other did maw. This gives the right result and doesn’t involve crazy theories – just that new players forgot they did a boss before or didn’t even know the 1-a-day rule.

This is all Vin Diesel’s fault!!!!! His gigantic contract and power grab from Groot has emboldened other voice actors, we will need a sacrifice to bring balance – BRING ME RIDkitten!!!
Does this happen on bosses he already killed that day?
Would I be sPvP viable still? Yes (might not necessarily be best possible build available on each class though – but you could almost certainly find something competative)
Would I get access to elite spec? No (need HoT)
Would I be competetive in RvR? Yes
Would I get access to new PvP maps? Yes
Would I be playing only with people who have no expansion? Nope, players you see in Core Tyria will be those with and without HoT (you may see a slight population density change as people zoom off to the new maps though)
Is it really recommended I have to get HoT or can I hold out for a couple of months while I play out the normal game and maybe get a fresh toon to 80? Get it when you feel you’ll enjoy it, if you still have plenty to do and are satisfied with Core atm there is no rush, later if you join a guild who are doing HoT and you want to join them it wouldn’t take long to upgrade. Get it if/when you want.
This has no link to F2P people. Also peeple do need to realise that new players wil not be aware of what ‘10k+ AP’ and ‘metazerk’ mean so patience and explaination would be nice on the part of veteran players when someone incorrectly joins their party.

I think a lot of this is generalization.
But the butterfly inspiration would be interesting to hear about. It’s my favorite animation for my Mesmer. ^.^
The butterflies came from a Hex in GW1 called Soothing Images, it stopped those affected gaining Adrenaline. Butterflies are too pretty to get angry over.
well i did already buy the ticket
. but i’m not asking for the whole story just to see more of the game-i mean these small cutouts of these maps have just left me flat. which isn’t to say the whole expac is this way but we haven’t seen anything else.
are the npc’s and storylines interesting? are the environments? these are the things that won’t change on release. great mechanics in a boring environment mean nothing to me. i might as well be playing a simulator. so yeah i would like to see more content in beta.
i think we have seen a biased ‘survey’/test-those most interested in the mechanical side had tons of opinions and those interested in content have gone unheard. but i like the core game so maybe everything will be ok (fingers crossed).
You do need to take a little on faith but for certain one thing this game does do well is the environments – its definitely one of the most beautiful MMOs I’ve played. I still support their choice to keep exploration for launch.
Also we have LS3 coming and they’ll be getting feedback on characters throughout for faves to be included there no doubt – more Anise, Faren, Kasmeer and Canach please!

I don’t understand why you think you need Elite Specializations to play in Heart of Thorns areas. I am pretty sure some players aren’t enamored with the Elite Specialization coming for their main profession of choice. Are you saying they won’t be able to play HoT, whether they have the Hero Points to unlock it, or not?
If your guildies want to play Heart of Thorns, they can go there right at release day. Just like everyone else (that purchased). If they want Elites unlocked the 5 minutes beforehand, I guess they can make a choice to pick up a few HPs each day while waiting for release…or not…just like everyone else. No one is forced to wait until ‘new content’ has come out to pick up Hero Points.
Whichever, it’s still a choice.
Oh, and as to your edit about ‘new players’: Those new players have to get to L80 before stepping foot in HoT. ‘New players’ should not have access to a pile of scrolls to insta-80, so they would need to level up in maps, anyway. Why should they ignore all the previous PvE maps they have never played to go play the ‘new’ PvE map? It’s all PvE, no?
you are making stupid assumptions,
1 that everyone reads the forums, and knows how this will work (allot of people will be disappointed when they find out to late)
2 that the way this will work is even clear already
3 that you have somehow earned the right to have these at day one while others don’t, even when some of them may have played more hours then you in a different gametype
4 that i am claiming elite specs are needed, they are flavor tough, and many people will want to play them, even at the cost of missing the new content, but it will cause frustration.
5 That having to do 1 type of content to get a skills and traits is somehow ok

There is no new content atm, just get them now.. “I don’t want to” can be used against EVERYTHING and has no worth.
I know this, you know this, at least 80% of the community has no clue about this, this is why they need to release a blogpost informing how this will work.
This is not a matter of me not wanting to do it, as it currently stands i have enough skillpoints on most of my main characters. I would like some progress to however, and not to be given everything at launch. But the same progress for me as for my brand new GW2 playing friend, i do not want to be ahead of them just because i have world completion characters and he doesn’t.People arguing that this is ok imo all already have these skillpoints and are unwilling to even for one second put themselves in the shoes of more recent players. It’s selfish and it disgusts me. I would like the elite specs to contain some form of progress, for me and for my friends, starting all from 0 with HoT
If your new friend is dying to play the new spec save some points while leveling – you have enough JUST from getting to 80 to get 3 whole specs unlocked I think (at least – my spare Mesmers with very little world completion have everything).
Tell them not to worry and that if they really want to play Chrono (cause who wouldn’t) suggest they stay their hand on pumping up those Chaos traits.
Everyone will get by in time and I’m sure there will be options to gain hero points in HoT (I believe even we don’t have enough for everything even with world completion so there will be more inside the exp).

i’m not all that interested in the mechanics…to me if these are broken they can be fixed. but if the content and story is uninspired/uninteresting -what can be done?
i’m not saying the content is that (altho i wasn’t exactly spellbound by the jungle setting) but i am saying i haven’t seen enough of it to make a decision on whether it’s good or not.
i guess to a more specific question (this is my first time beta testing)..is the amount of content we have seen so far in line with beta testing from other big mmo’s. how does this compare to the amount beta testers saw in say wow or everquest 2 or swtor? some of this is apples and oranges i realize but at least it’s a baseline.
WoW tends to beta everything (which I think is a shame because you lose that feeling of exploration and also the top guilds basicly learn all the raid mechanics in beta and storm through it instantly at launch), GW2’s betas were confined to just a few maps (up to 25 level maps if I remember correctly?).
In all honesty I don’t think any game developer changes the storylines from beta testing – all they check for is “does the story step activate properly and give out correct rewards.” I personally never noticed an MMO change stories from beta – maybe just remove some side quests. WoD supposedly lost a lot of content just before release (either being pushed back or removed entirely).
As long as the other maps are relatively bug free and the launch goes smoothly (as smoothly as can be expected for an MMO) then I personally am happy with the beta set up we have. Exploration is a very big part of GW2 and something I’m glad the devs recognise and protect.
I assume the Teamq model will remain 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 people can enter? Just be aware if the number of 1 players decreases (joining Teamq) too much it will be pretty frustrating for 2, 3 and 4 man groups.
Queue times will increase BUT with HoT coming out and F2P there probably isn’t going to be a better time to hope volume of players helps out.
I don’t know how easy it is for Anet to swap and change the queue systems but if they wanted to experiment I guess now is the time. If not I can’t blame them.
Despite your sarcasm, two noobs have gotten precursor drops in the same party ahead of me. One on his first dungeon run with me guiding. At the same time I’m getting pure junk with 192%+ magic find.
The odds are against that. So, I want to know why. Does magic find actually work? Did I offend some dev?
Precursor drop rates are very low.
Remember that 300 × 0.00000001 is 0.000003. Still very low. You aren’t going to perceive a difference on drops that already have a very low drop rate.
Yes, the odds are low that two people in the same party on the say day will get a precursor drop. But still possible without any conspiracy being in play.
It’s possible because each individual drop doesn’t care what the previous drops were.
+300% magic find gives the following change :
0.00000001 → 0.00000004
You multiply they chance by 4 not multiply it by 300.

Yes, give us everything from start!!! Why do we need to level from level 1-80? Play how you want ‘pshht’ rubbish! I want all my 12 characters maxed out becouse it is tedious to do it again and again and again becouse the game is all about maxed out characters and when I have maxed out characters I will start whining that there is only 1h content for this game!!!
Seriously though in my opinion I don’t mind havng Elite specs being behind a little wall of HP, it gives us something to aim for, a reason to go back and play on the old maps. I have 12 characters and most of them have over 80-90% map compleation. I play this game becouse I enjoy it and I enjoy every content of is (Accept southsun survival) so I play all the maps again as long as I enjoy it. It does not take a year to get your hero points and if you actually don’t try to finnish everything in a week you can maby enjoy the old content again. When I play old maps again I usually find people from my guild to play with or some new friends, it realy makes the experience better. Also it one more month before release of the game, instead of being AFK in LA and whining on the forums or whatever you do, go out and earn yourself some HP.

I understand your point, but the simple fact is, that you can’t earn HP by any form beyond 80 but doing the hero challenges, and i think it’s kittened up to expect a WvW player or someone who likes running dungeons allot more, to go and do all these hero challenges. Think beyond yourself for just one second and plz realise that to some people this will be a grind, while others unlock it with their natural gameplay. This is not good.
To be a fair system you need to be able to progress at the same rate, nobody is asking for instant acces. Altough you will probally have it, while some poor WvW player will have to grind PvE for it. If you want to lock it behind something make it so we can only start that progress at HoT, so everyone gets a clean start.
I can understand that but what we… Or alteast I don’t know is how much HP it will cost and how much HP there will be in the new WvW maps.
I didn’t want to Explore WvW maps to get 100% map compleaton and ofcourse WvW players shouldn’t have to do 100% PvE to get Elite Spec I agree. But what I am worried about over all this whining is that it may lead to that there is nothing to aim for, Elite spec will be unlocked the instant you enter Maguuma.
But then it also feels like that Anet never meant WvW to be something to be on the side like PvP, it feels like they ment WvW to be PvE… Becouse I would want WvW to be just like PvP, another game mode where everyone is level 80 and have everything from start, just like PvP but it is not. The point with HP and Specializations is that when we get more spec’s we have to unlock them with HP and in the end all the HP in WvW will not be enough and WvW players will probably need to go to PvE to farm HP anyway. If not… the whole HP thing is just rubbish.
As for dungeon players… Well c’mon, what am I then? Chat player? For the most I do is chat in Guild chat. We need to have hero points too for chatting! Dungeon is PvE thats all I say.
So anyway. Instead of insisting that you get everything for free, ask for Anet to make WvW seperate from PvE, no more Farming EotM to level to 80, no more worries that you wont afford a specialization, no more forced to farm ascended gear outside of WvW and more.
No, you need a system that works for everyone, no offense but giving people who do world completing an edge to people who don’t is not acceptable. I know people who have 1-2 hours a day max, and they are very worried that they will have to spend it doing world completion. Also they need to anounce how it will work, so people have time to prepare, right now this is still a rumor, we need to know.
So just to check “people who play more shouldn’t have an advantage” is your position? How on earth can you structure a game like that except putting caps on progress you can make in a day?
Its a fact of gaming and life that doing more gets you more. Obviously some people will fall a bit behind but they still can progress at their own rate.

ANET hasn’t forced anybody into leveling anything. In case you missed it, getting experience scrolls has been made easier than ever and together with the 20 lvl booster, has virtually eliminated the grind of leveling an alt. Oh… and they are part of the game too.

Try Generosity Sigils when you see the enemy team is loaded on Guards (it can be worth it for the screams – though i do facepalm when it sends vuln…).

. but i’m not asking for the whole story just to see more of the game-i mean these small cutouts of these maps have just left me flat. which isn’t to say the whole expac is this way but we haven’t seen anything else.
