Just make some kitten skins varied by region. Tie drop chance to some arbitrary difficulty related to the chest. Hard to get=more chance. One loot per day means forced to check out multiple chests in the same region.
The only difficult part is making it rare/cool enough that it has value but no so rare that people have 0 motivation to do it.
If they did that, people in Guild Wars 1 would rebel.
This already happened when they released a sequel that in no way resembles the first game.
like to fight? fight.
like to try an alternate method? do it.
i like when games give me options.
qq that no one wants to fight because skipping is faster? find other like minded people to play with.
think there are no other like minded people to play with? well one thats wrong because i see this thread on the forums every day but then again, maybe you’re just so out there that you need to re-evaluate yourself if you want to participate in the community.
new legendaries when?
Bumping this to say it just happened to a party I was in.
Consider it to be like “Prestiging” in the Call of Duty series.
You reset your level and gain a benefit of some sort. Seeing as this is Guild Wars and not DDO it would have to be a cosmetic benefit.
God Tier-
Engineer: Best class, can do everything better than everyone else especially style on fools.
Good Tier-
Guardian: A good source of stability and reflects for your engineer.
Warrior: A good source of Fury and stat buffs from banners for your engineer.
Ok Tier-
Elementalist: A good source of healing for your engineer. Can also provide fire fields if you’re feeling lazy on your engineer.
Situational Tier-
Mesmer: A good source of portal for completing jumping puzzles on your engineer. Also can throw down timewarp for supreme grenade spamming on your engineer.
Thief: A good source of stealth for your engineer.
Ranger: A good source of Frost Spirit for your engineer.
Comedy Tier-
Necromancer: A good source of entertainment for your engineer and the rest of your party.
Just tried to login today and was greeted with a message telling me my password was incorrect. Checked my e-mail, couple of password reset requests, one new login location verification request (Address: 114.37.250.197 City: Taipei Region: 03 Country: TW).
Nothing was taken from my account so I’m going to guess that location email stopped them. If my email had been compromised I would assume they would have accepted the new login.
Either way, my password is 100% unique to GW2. I have never used it for anything else, I don’t write my passwords down, and I have never told it to anyone.
This leaves only a few options as to how this could have occurred that I am aware of which I will leave to your imagination…
So, props to ANet for the verify login location security step, probably saved my 20 gold.
BUT, given that my password is unique to gw2… I would consider changing your password if you haven’t done so recently.
kitten it ANet. Quit giving away my stuff for free.
1) Account Wide Wallet – Convenient but not new content.
2) Living Story Events – New content, but incredibly easy and boring with a snooze inducing story.
3) Larger crafting storage option – Convenient but not new content.
4) Copper-fed Salvage-O-Matic, Infinite Tools etc. – Convenient but not new content.
5) New Fractals – New content gated by the start of the downfall of GW2.
6) Upcoming trait changes – More build options for content that doesn’t exist.
7) WvW Seasons – A joke.
Things I would like:
-New Dungeons
-New Jumping Puzzles
-New Single Player Story things (like the story missions, not living story)
-Guild Wars 2 to be Guild Wars 1 with jumping and better graphics.
(edited by Crysto.7089)
game should have never had gear/levels in the first place and should have been 100% cosmetic. should have had all stats linked to the traits.
There are many top tier MMORPGs coming out this year
1. EverQuest Next
2. Wildstar
3. The Elder Scrolls Online
etcDoes Guild wars 2 even stand a chance ? What do you think Arenanet should do to retaliate ?
Those games have Jumping Puzzles? No.
So Anet will counter with Super Adventure Box!
If it didn’t have the supreme cash shop model, DDO does pretty much everything GW2 does except look pretty, better from a PvE perspective. It has even done away with the trinity except instead of making everyone awful at everything, everyone can be good at everything. If you really like the trinity you can still go 100% heal or damage or whatever and be effective as well. But like I said, their pay model is a little crazy. Check it out if you haven’kittens free*.
As to what keeps me motivated? Nothing. Once you’ve made it to 80 you’ve experienced the game.
When I hear things like this, all I picture are those strange people that never watch a movie, read a book, etc. more than once.
I’ve played the game more than once. Nothing wrong with it being over at 80, its a good ride. The first time.
I have little nice to say about ANet’s choice to remove upscaling for the zones, but try to ignore the levels. The game is designed to be entertaining for the level you are so don’t get wrapped up in having to get to level 80. The journey there is the game’s content with little to nothing different awaiting you at the top.
As to what keeps me motivated? Nothing. Once you’ve made it to 80 you’ve experienced the game. You can pick up PvP or WvW for some extra hours worth but thats pretty much it. I’m awaiting Super Adventure Box. If they ever release some new content that I enjoy (dungeons, mini-dungeons, jumping puzzles, new areas to explore) maybe I’d play, but for now other games have replaced GW2.
(edited by Crysto.7089)
I don’t care about a reward or loot but I don’t want to have to go through something else to get to the new stuff. Oh boy anet added some new dynamic event with a bunch of pre-reqs that are tedious or impossible to do alone. Useless to me. Or oh boy anet added some new fractals… but its still random as to which ones you’ll get. Silly.
Just make it like how the past stories of Gwen, Togo, and D’Allesio (or w/e his name was) when you open a menu and bam you’re there experiencing the new content.
There should have never been levels in the first place.
What should they have done?
You simply gain skill points as you fill the bar with your traits already unlocked and all areas are of the same “level.”
There should have never been levels in the first place.
1. Jumping Puzzles
Pure awesome. Super Adventure Box/Tribulation mode is the best GW2 gets.
2. World Polish
Practically every NPC has something to say (voice over) and while it has taken awhile to get there, most of the open world is a pleasure to explore/experience.
3. Fluidity of Combat/Movement
Fighting looks and feels good in GW2. The animations differ for some (all?) of the races and make the whole thing feel very smooth. Dodging looks and feels good too. I wish it was a little more positioning based rather than just a “become invincible” key, but given the genre of game I think it works pretty well. I will never be able to get used to being locked in place to trade blows again. Also, moving around the world on most classes feels good.
4. Dungeons
Dungeons are all pretty good the first time through story mode and the explorable mode is the same. They get repetitive after awhile but so does anything. I like the idea of instanced missions and these get closer to the feeling of missions from GW1 than the personal story ever did.
5. Bi-Monthly Updates
Now hold on before you shoot me. I dislike time sensitive content and the plot of the story itself well… lets just say its not for me. HOWEVER, it is cool to know that every two weeks SOMETHING will be updated in the game. Maybe it won’t be something I’m interested it but knowing that an update is only ever 2 weeks away keeps me holding out hope that GW2/ANET will actualize the potential found in GW2.
But you can solo dungeons…
And if you’re not yet skilled enough to do so you can at least take down some of the mid bosses to get bags with 3 tokens in them.
(Warrior)
Watched various videos for an hour.
Spent 8 hours straight getting close a few times but never sealing the deal. Would have kept going but the repair costs literally ran me out of money (always investing, little liquid funds) so I had to take a break to run some other dungeons.
Watched other videos with specific tips rather than the general idea.
Spent another 4 hours the next day, got my first solo kill.
Have probably now spent around 250 hours just running arah (it is literally all I do in GW2) and still cannot do it 100%. There are just always going to be a few things that stop me/you from aceing the fight that are reasonably beyond your control.
I’ve tried on mes and guard as well and I think war has to best tools to defeat the rng aspects of the fight that usually kitten people up but that could just be because I have the most experience on war.
Every guild I have joined thus far always lacks the same thing and yours seems to be the same.
A dedicated group effort to set and break records and explore the game and it’s mechanics to the fullest. Constantly test and retest builds and items in various situations with the goal of being the most efficient. Most guilds just lack the drive to be the best and settle for ok.
I’m willing to bet there are a few in your guild that are looking for such an outlet. Give it to them along with the recognition that goes along with it.
Excellent timing. Was just getting back into fractals.
if that was the case, I wouldn’t complain. But as described before, the lfg tool is litered with spam by sellers and finding decent players has always been a drag for arah, bc many just fail in this instance. But the very fact that they can circumvent it buy buying the gear keeps them being bad at the dungeon and makes finding good players worse.
That is because the “decent players” are tired of carrying ng players. It wastes their time to have to constantly wait, res, and redo things thanks to inexperience. Its not inherently a bad thing, but why should “I” carry ngs when I put in the effort to learn the dungeon and they just want a free ride? The equalizer for that is, ok, for a little coin, I’ll be willing to put up with it. You are ng? That’s fine, you can compensate for that with some gold. You can still easily get a group with ng players and given that your group has enough patience (something most ngs don’t) you will make it through.
What advantage is there for me to run with a bunch of ng players when I can just 2 man with a friend and make some extra coin, faster than we would with 3 ngs tagging along? That is why you will continue to see spam.
Also, I sound like an elitist, and I sort of am, but I’m all for teaching people who ask for help as long as they are willing to put in the time and effort to learn, which is the number one cause of ng.
Also remember that it wasn’t always “free” to retrait in GW1. There were attribute refund points.
It gives hope that they may change things in the future, but that can be said of so many things in GW2.
I taught someone solo and group tactics for Arah in a one on one environment.
Later they messaged me thanking me and told me of their successful run and were proud that they were able to do Lupi in melee.
This is the closest I will ever be to being a proud parent.
(edited by Crysto.7089)
trying using warhorn 4? dogged march? -condition duration stuff?
Just for you OP!
I haven’t quit but there’s just really not that much left to do. PvP I suppose.
I’ll take you through P2 right now if you’re available. I love teaching it.
Sell Arah slots.
Its a lag thing not a skill mechanic thing. Client side the icon flashes but the command isn’t being send. You can get around this on WWA by mashing the button, but with sword block you can’t cause you’ll cancel the block.
1. The Dreaded “Double Kick”

2. Standing on the raised ruins around the arena and having a ranged blast hit you in melee range.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsnwwKuh0og
3. Having GS whirl or Sword Block fail to activate even though you clearly see the skill flash indicating that you pushed the button.
That last one especially bugs me…
(edited by Crysto.7089)
Awesome addition that shows potential for some interesting encounters. I also like that the GS mob dodge rolls. Hope that’s a sign of smarter AI to come.
Same here. I was just searching the forums to see if it was a bug. The male version looks awesome. The female…. not so much.

Set your character model limit to high.
Tried doing this the other day, the landing was never even attacked. Tried doing it today, the landing gets attacked but the event proceeds no further.
According to the API the event hasn’t been run for over 172 hours.
I’m drowning in Empyreal fragments, ok on Bloodstone dust, and have something like 60 Dragonite from the smattering of WvW I’ve been playing.
I don’t really play anything that would get me Dragonite, just run dungeons and do jumping puzzles. I get some Bloodstone from champs in dungeons but Dragonite? I dunno how I’m supposed to get that kitten. Can’t really get it without a zerg and there just aren’t zergs when I play.
Not even in the same class as Cantha. Nightfall’s flavor and environments were the weakest.
Attempted to enter AC and after clicking the “Enter Explorable Mode” button. Nothing happened. So I tried again and the second time, Explorable Mode was my only option (story mode didn’t even show up as a choice). Once again nothing happened. Then after wondering if I was lagging, a red message popped up and saiiiiiiid:
InstanceCreate failed. Error=42; Product=5; Module=18; Line=274
Helpa mea!
Yeah, it’s nothing compared to the Survivor title in Guild Wars 1. There you needed to get 1,337,500 exp without dying. This took WAY more than a couple of hours in a noob zone. While it was possible to game this title also, the people who did it for real really earned it.
Yea, running that boxing mini-dungeon was really hard.
While you could do damage, between the limited skill slots and attribute points, you were forced to pick either great healing, or so-so damage. So in other words if you wanted to be a monk, you could only ever heal, and nothing else.
I humbly encourage you to improve yourself.
I really like underwater combat, I just wish it was used more often, there is so much potential not being used there. Some really awesome skills and interesting ideas behind them that we don’t even get to see 99% of the time.
I think one of the biggest issues is that where it is used, the enemies have more life than most and having to re-situate yourself drops DPS making it seem slower than other forms of combat.
My first 80 was an engineer and at that time in Orr I was Poseidon, grenade spamming god of the seas. Everything under the waves was my kitten. Of course that got nerfed, though it did take awhile, but I think it probably biased me a little bit.
I love exploring underwater too, there are some truly frightening areas underwater where vision is diminished.
I have played Thief, Warrior, Engineer, Guardian, and Mesmer underwater. Engineer and Warrior seem the best in terms of damage, Thief a little behind that, Guardian behind him, and the Mesmer hit like a wet noodle even in full zerk but the skills themselves were much more interesting/flavorful and that counts for a lot for me.
Not sure what is frustrating about it or why its harder. I’d say its easier than land combat simply because of how ridiculously easy it is to kite underwater and in general the damage you take is much less when you do get hit.
“I’m gonna play how I wanna play!”
-Casual scumbag, makes runs take 16 hours, no friends, probably hates freedom, uses white weapons and armor
“You’re gonna play how I want you to play!”
-Elite alpha pro, runs take less than 10 seconds, gets laid often, bathes in gold and glory, solos dungeons sans weapons and armor through sheer willpower
The master race: Asura.
I solo’d it faster.
Sure. As long as you add an easy way to get the same reward too.
