It is fine with me if only some people will have it. However make it something you will have to work towards. Then make some rarer skins than others, let the casuals have something nice, and let the hardcore people work towards something nice.
This isn’t something you put effort in, not ingame at least. Clicking over 9000 boxes to get a skin is special in it’s own way, and I don’t mean that in a positive manner. :/

I quite like the idea of the environmental weapons, however they indeed could use some more… handiness.
Personally I love the chomp of meat you can take of a spit to whack mobs with, and eat it if your health gets low, but it would be great if it had some more options. Why not make 5 skills for each weapon with some things that can come in handy? As said earlier, knockbacks, boons, combo fields/finishers…

Hea there!
You might want to give a bit more information so artists can decide if they have what you’re looking for! Some things you can think of are:
On the technical side:
-What kind of size of artworks are you looking for? Would this be artworks the size of an a4 paper or bigger/smaller?
-Digital or traditional artworks?
-What would be the deadline? (approximately)
On the more artistic side:
-What kind of style are you looking for? Manga/anime, comics, marvel, realistic, something else entirely? Maybe link some artworks in a style you like as an example.
-What level of detail do you want? Full color? Lineart? With or without background? Full character or Portrait?
-What races are we talking about? Humans and norns do not differ a lot, sylvari is already slightly different, but Asura and Charr have a completely different anatomy.
I might be interested in this commission, however I can’t say for certain because of a lack of details about what you want
If there is an Asura or Charr among your characters; I’m out. I can not draw a Charr or Asura if my life would depend on it, and I’d hate to screw it up.
Anyway, here is my tumblr with some artworks on it so you have an idea of what kind of work I make.

I haven’t played the full story of gw1 yet, so I can’t say much about it, however:

Quite a bit of replies already, but I just want to point out 1 thing…
You say your guild that had almost max capacity wouldn’t help you. Max capacity guild doesn’t automatically mean it’s a good guild; or a good guild for you.
I don’t know what’s considered a ‘casual’ player. I mainly play during the weekends, my guild is quite small and knows what everyone’s goals are, and what they want to do.
I’m going for a legendary, I’m want to complete all the story-dungeons in order. I want gear from x dungeon. I know they will help me, even if it might take a while before everyone has time to do so. In the meantime I also help others with their goals.
And more importantly; they keep the game fun to play.
A guild that doesn’t help you right away isn’t a bad guild, and a big guild doesn’t have to be a good guild; or not a good guild for you personally.
I’d say give it another go

Oh dear… :’D
This thread is just… hilarious.
Anyway OP: Not only do the Asura have a different culture, they’re an entirely different race.
They lived under the ground (so no contact with humans and their culture) and find themselves superior. They have no need to cover their ‘breasts’ or better said, flat chests.
Honestly I do not think a single child will be offended, or ‘scarred for life’ or anything by seeing an Asuran flat chest.
You argument that they’re mammals is invalid imo. All the playable races are mammals… And not all mammals in real life wear clothing.
Are you offended that there are so called ‘lost tribes’ in the real world too who do not wear clothing at all? Who actually have human anatomy? gasp boobies.

I LOVE the fact that it’s such a casual game.
I can play or stop playing whenever I want without getting behind on gear, level, etc.
This is honestly the most relaxed and fun mmo I’ve ever played. (and I’ve played/tried quite a bit of them)
Where I felt ‘forced’ to log into my previous mmo almost every day, I felt forced to run dungeons, I felt forced to do dailies, because otherwise I wouldn’t get better gear. And without better gear, I wouldn’t be able to do the things above… To get better gear.
Now I login during the weekends and play because it’s fun, and I absolutely love that. After the beta of GW2 I could hardly find myself logging into the other game anymore, it was so dull.
After a while I had a bit of a burnout from gw2, felt like playing something different. I’ve tried several mmo’s, but the mp-bars, health potions, combat, running from quest to quest… It doesn’t work for me anymore. I’m spoiled.

I have done a couple of dungeons with my guild and some with pug’s. Only last week I skipped for the first time. Hated it.

It’s mostly stressful imo (especially if you’re new to the dungeon it’s just plain confusing. Oke lets kill these mo- where did my party go?)
I don’t know if you’re on a European server XelNigma, but if you ever organize a dungeon run and kill everything, give me a pm. If I got time on my hands I’ll be glad to join in!

The mysteries dissapear and life stands explained.”
Well I mainly want to pve, and every now and then some wvw, though I don’t really care about being highly competitive in it. I just think it’s fun to tag along with groups and poke/annoy enemies we encounter. ^^’
I grabbed the kit refinement mostly because there’s also the trait there that I can swap to deployable turrets.
But since you said most of those turret-traits are bugged… say I drop the turrets idea and just go with kits. I guess I can drop the hair trigger trait then, as I will hardly be using my actual weapon.

There are different ways of learning, and different things work for people.
-watching a vid
-following step by step guides
(the boss does x, you do y. After that you do z)
-actually doing it (sometimes with trial and error)
That’s just 3 learning methods and there’s many more. Although it could sometimes help for a new player to watch a vid of the dungeon up front (which spoils the fun for me, so I don’t.) but sometimes it just won’t help.
I personally learn best through actually doing stuff, this is both in games, but also in real life. Showing me a vid or giving me a step by step tutorial will make my eyes glaze over a moment before I go do something else.

As Vayne said, the game gets boring soon when playing alone. I’ve leveld 2 characters to 80 pretty much alone. Now I’ve joined an awesome guild and I’m having loads of fun again.
And try doing things you haven’t done before maybe. Have you done all the dungeons? Have you done fractals?
And if you’ve done them… have you done speed-runs, or runs with friendly people who who instead of getting angry/annoyed can’t stop laughing when someone gets blown of the ledges 20 times in the one with the giant and the seals while trying to guide them through? (well she had some horrible lag… though it was still quite funny)
Playing with people who see the game as a… game. Is a lot of fun.

Hello everyone! Thanks for taking the time to check this topic.
I’m new to the engineer-class and definitely enjoying it so far.
Looking into what kind of skills I enjoy using I have made an attempt to make a build. Now I realize that this isn’t exactly my strongest point… So I was hoping some of you could look into it!
What do I enjoy?
-Using kits
-Turrets
-Rifle!
So I made up the following build. (without any gear and such, as I’m totally going to lose it then.)
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mVMM9cz0oaNCMmaNCMGax0acRooVqm
In this case, with the focus on kits.
However! When I feel like changing to turrets (for whatever reason)
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mVMM9cz0oMwxMmaNCMGax0acsocabV
So… a build that can freely swap between turrets and kits. Any opinions? Suggestions? Critics? Waffles?
EDIT: forgot to say:
I plan to use this in pve and maybe wvwvw every now and then.
In pve, well, pretty much everything. From solo open world to fractals and back. 99% of the time when running fractals/dungeons I’m with my guild.

I seriously want this so much… In the previous mmo I played I owned a LOT of fashion/mounts/pets. Why? Because I like change. Both irl and in games.
I got tier 3 armor on my main and I absolutely love it, but there’s so much more cool armor that I wish I could swap to without losing my stats or my skins :/ (and without it costing an arm and a leg)
I’d collect those skins like crazy. Probably some that I hardly like just for the sake of having them. Not to mention that the skins bought from gens would actually be worth buying then…
I’ve wanted to buy them, but I don’t want to have to keep then in my bank when I’m not using them ><

This probably isn’t considered a bug, but I wonder why it is as it is.
Whenever you click a link, it opens in the same page, as in; not opening in a new tab or a new window.
When I view an image (especially with slow internet sometimes) I’d like to be able to keep reading the topic while the image loads in a new tab. I can do that atm by rightclicking and opening in a new tab, but sometimes I just forget.
Also when making a post and previewing it, I check if the links work/are correct. click
Well, there went the post I just typed.
I personally don’t see the benefit of this system, but it might be that I missed a good reason why the current way is better. If so, please enlighten me.

Do the sylvari feel cold? Or any temperature at all?
As I’m currently writing a background for one of my sylvari characters this bugged me.
If I recall correctly, there is an npc in the grove, a female sylvari who talks about the norn area and how she didn’t like it because of the cold. (can’t look up the npc atm as I can’t play right now)
However, checking the wiki:
Sylvari lack thermoreceptors in their skin, as they cannot feel the cold and are not affected by it.
So what is it?

Having a level 80 thief and Mesmer myself, and currently leveling a guardian, I gotta say, the guardian ís dull in comparison (at least in pve open word that is)
Thief and Mesmer both come with some handy abilities.
I actually do enjoy solo open world on Mesmer, and dungeons, spvp and WvWvW are even more fun. it’s not uncommon that in dungeons I’m the last one standing if the party wipes.
I got to admit, I’m hardly a good thief player, but none the less I enjoy playing it. There are many different styles in which you can play both classes.
As for the race, go with what you like best if you feel like doing quests/events elsewhere. Nothing is stopping you from doing so, so I wouldn’t pick a race based on where they start out

As an atheist I actually think religion is pretty interesting. Be it in real life, be it in games. It adds some depth to characters and their actions. (and opens up a whole lot of creative swears…)
Religion also opens up a whole lot of story-material.
Humans taking over Ascalon and the Charr taking it back had quite a lot to do with the gods too if I’m not mistaken.
Also the flame legion and the other legions, it’s once again about religion.
To compare to real life, there have been crusades, wars. (not all pretty, but still interesting) and the whole bible, which is also quite a story.
So yeh. Religion adds in quite a lot of story-material. I’m not saying you can’t write good stories where religion isn’t present. But it adds for a nice backstory imo.

The mysteries dissapear and life stands explained.”
I like the idea, as long as it’s something that is available for everyone who plays casually I don’t see a problem with it either.
However, I don’t think it should be a pvp-thing. Maybe not even a wvwvw thing, not sure on the last.
Question time:
How would transmuting work? Would the skill be connected to the look of the weapon, or to the stats?
What kind of stats would the weapons have? Are they like legendary weapons, stuck to 1 stat? Or are there many different stats?
Would the skill be an upgrade of the previous one or would it be a whole new skill with a different effect and so on? (the first would pretty much render the old skill useless, which is also the example you gave )
Will the players who have these weapons get some sort of advantage over the others? In other words, would everyone want those weapons because the skills are better, not just different?
So… All questions that came up in my mind dropped there.
I do like your idea, would be nice to see it worked out a bit more!

I don’t really mind it that people that I didn’t add to my friendslist can see when I’m online. However I do think it’s annoying that people can see always see when I’m online, no matter what character.
Sometimes I just don’t feel like interacting with people, or just certain people. Now I realise there’s the ‘invisible’-mode. But there’s nothing to stop people that are on my fl from whispering me anyways, which will tell them the name of the character I am on.
Some people understand it when you tell them you just don’t feel like talking, other people will get offended, start whining, etc.
Added to that the fact that a guild can see if you’re representing them or not is kind of annoying. I’ve always liked to join multiple guilds and I feel restrained from doing so now. I understand the thing with people robbing the bank and such can be a problem otherwise. But why not make it so when someone joins a guild you can see their account name next to their character name? You’ll know when to kick someone soon enough that way.
The mysteries dissapear and life stands explained.”
I’m guilty of not thinking of the lore when picking a character name. I always try to come up with something at least with a ‘normal’ touch to it. Make it pronounceable and readable.
I am guilty of having a character named ‘count mishap’ I really couldn’t be bothered at that moment to come up with a better name. Once we get name-change available I might change it to something better.
I couldn’t really care less about people having ‘goofy’ names though I try to stay away from it myself
The mysteries dissapear and life stands explained.”
My personal definition of a grind is having to do the same thing over and over again in order to get to my goal when this thing never seems to change and/or is a challenge.
Per example doing a dungeon isn’t a grind to me, you’ll have to stay on your toes sometimes, pay attention, and there are 3 paths to take.
However, trying to obtain lodestones for a weapon from the mystic forge… Yuck. Killing mobs over and over mindlessly to hardly get anything useful, let alone the item you want. That’s a grind to me.
I really don’t mind working towards a goal, as long as I know that if I do x everyday, I’ll have that reward in y amount of days.
(I gave the mystic forge weapons as an example, however I ought to say, I don’t think they should remove the ridiculously high cost on some of those weapons. Although it would be nice to have some more cool skins that require less of the materials…)

what would happen if you put 4 eternity greatswords into the mystic forge?
in Crafting
Posted by: Curae.1837
Zommoros will take a physical form and raise from the forge. He will then kill the 6 gods, dismantle the eternal alchemy, banish the spirits of the wild, make the pale three wither and will make all charr-technology malfunction.
Next up he will take control over the dragons and enslave all races, happily taking over the entire world wielding 4 eternities.
He will give every of his minions only poreus bones to drop and will scatter 3 legendary weapons across the wold for players to find. The races will rebel against each other to take possession of the weapons and he will enjoy the show.
Think carefully…
Seriously though, I doubt you can even put 1 eternity in the forge.

An option to save armor sets as skins would be such a great addition.
It would give the people (like me) who don’t like ultra-long-term-goals like a legendary something else to spend gold on. It would also make people run more dungeons, because hea, you could at least save a skin for later use!
I have some cultural pieces I love, but there are so many more armor sets I want. It’s wasted however since I don’t want to use a crapload of bank or inventory space for different armor-sets, all with the same stats…
Even if it were character, and not account based it would still be such a welcome change…

I’d also love some more special skins for karma. Skins that don’t come from the mystic forge, or from monster-drops. Just special karma-skins. At the moment there’s only the cultural amor/weapons that have ‘special’ skins so to say.
