I can’t even target thiefs half the time, let alone hit them. And they’re not the only class.
Sorry but you are doing it wrong, you should use the auto target/next target keys for cases like these.
It used to recharge ONE skill of EVERY kind of Utility (trick,Deception, etc).
That never happend, at least not in the parallel world my conscious is coming from.
While it’s indeed a sad thing, it’s even sader that nobody remembers the BWE’s Feline’s Grace.
As a thief with a scarf I can tell you.
It’s to conceal their grin because they know.
... how you will complain about balance after your death.
Any pvp match, quite annoying. =/
The game seems a bit picky about what it counts for that. Simplest way to trigger would be to put in a 200g buy order for Twilight then cancel it and pick up your gold again from the TP. That should trigger it.
Weird stuff, but well thank you for an working solution.
I guess you mean update, not event?
Well you should give up either CS or Acro, but I still think it’s hard to say before to the actual release.
Well a few concepts here:
Condi Trapper (Not sure about the weapons (d/d or p/d) and if the Trapper Runes are worth it)
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-g33V;1Rwk0-P5kOFd0;9;4IKM;0237237057;4P-W5F;1isXAisXA1m
Condi Venom [Leecher/(Support)]
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-g33V;1Rwk0-Z5BPFd0;9;4IKM;0057258037;4P-W5F;1isXAisXA1P
This one should work with d/d since Death Blossom should apply quite a lot of Poison and Bleeding with Dagger Training. Also it’s faster and more reliable than p/d.
S/D Lockdown
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-gF3V;1Vwk0-P5kOFd0;9;4ILM;0237258147;4PNW5L;1KJG4KJG45O
3 Seconds Immob and Knockdown on 24s CD (and less with Ressourcefull Trapper) as well as two short Stuns from Basilisk Venom might work well together with Infl. Strike.
The Haste from Flanking Strike is a nice 4th utility which also removes a condtion.
Overall the build should be able to lock enemies down reliably, deal at least sustainable damage, and is quite resistant against conditions which might become a rather important thing after the update.
This build also might be be better with S/P, but in the end it all depends.
Overall I just hope that at least one of the core concepts could actually work out, but who knows.
We need a weapon with more ranged more than we need another melee weapon.
While it’s true that it’s something the Thief dosen’t have, it’s not really something the Thief needs, since he has many abilities to get in and out of range rather quickly.
So for some reason the golden achievment is stuck around 140 gold even though I allready surpassed the required 200 gold.
Is there some way to work around this?
Fun fact (iirc):
The change was actually brought in for WvW as a counter measure of culling problems the game had with stealth in there, which resulted in fewinvisible frames for thieves even after reveal.
I guess it stayed in spvp because the devs didn’t like to redo their current change in balance that quickly since the culling problem was solved soon after that.
You know pride ’n stuff.
For now it’s a placeholder for the time when we wil get a semi balanced and fun
underwater pvp combat. Which is around the time of the next expansion.
What if we lower the Skyhammer area, so that instead of dying you just take a certain
amount of dmg, while having some of these spring things, to get back up to the platform.
Would this improve it for you? (If you ignore the cc balance)
10 glory booster = 1 other booster of your choice
Skyhammer is ok. We just need to nerf stealth pulls (cannot break plate in stealth, cannot pull/knock in stealth) and make hammer dodgable. Oh, and nerf decap engi.
Dude, that’s the only way for thieves to have at least a little bit fun on this map.
People today don’t know what spam means.
Thief 2 stronk.
How do you beta test a game in alpha?
- Dancing Dagger: Updated the cripple skill fact to display the proper duration.
So instead of actually fixing this, they just alter their tooltip?
Shadow Arts V—Infusion of Shadow: Increased the amount of initiative gained to 2, but only when entering stealth.
Atleast they increased the amount of initiative gain to 2.
But…it was already a 2 initiative gain…
lol…
maybe 50s for daily PvP and 5g for monthly PvP?
The pvp montlhies and dailies are way easier to optain than the pve ones,
therefore your numbers don’t match.
It’s better without these items anyway.
CD?
I’m not at home
45 seconds would be too long, right?
I would love a way to turn off commander tags on screen and on the minimap, and maybe a way to whitelist certain commanders.
Christmas Time?
I would love a way to get a second Gasmask for pvp, and a way to optain Dredge
Gear without having to grind a whole year.
I would like to suggest adding skill skins too..
As long as they dont have huge impact at my screen.I would like to see certain skills have some awesome animations..
This is actually quite the idea, but it shouldn’t affect the particles too much, and more
the motion of the skills themselves. As long as those motions stay within a restricted
frame, the attacks should still be easily recognizable. And why not stances, and moving
patterns too? (Running like a ninja, or maybe like a penguin) This way you could implement another layer of rewards which are purely visual, while also implementing
some pvp prestige into the game, without breaking anything else.
None, I use them up and recycle them into new items, which I then recycle again.
Also, let’s not forget: New Healing Skills will be added!
Huh? Where did you hear that?
It’s in the Blogpost.
Also in this update, the Skills and Balance team will introduce new healing skills to the game. To acquire new skills, in both PvP and PvE, players will need to spend skill points to unlock them. Unlocking the skill unlocks it for all parts of the game. Going forward newly added skills will require skill points. Existing skills will remain unlocked for PvP.
Oh, I somehow skipped that section. But the need for skillpoints in PvP? Now that’s a completely new direction.
Also, let’s not forget: New Healing Skills will be added!
Huh? Where did you hear that?
I can see it now.
Twilights. Twilights everywhere.
Please no, these things should be banned from pvp.
“It will take many months …”
This is what killed my excitement, but well I hope the friday show will be more in depth.
If everything can be bought with gold, now does that mean we will have people with credit card in hand buying armors that previously were signs of prestige?
If that’s the case, will “prestige” be moved to rewards tied to leaderboard/ladder position or divisions? It all sounds like it could be catering to pve gold farmers, where are the exclusive rewards for skilled players?
Well I don’t think it doesn’t even matter any more at this point, and they always can include some exclusive ranks and finishers.
Hi,
why won’t you give players who are playing both gametypes a change to get a second
Gasmask? You did it once with the Molten Gloves, so why not for the newer stuff?
It would be nice, even if it will cost money.
All I want is to have a piece in pvp, and one in pve. I would even pay for it Q_Q.
A-Net would get so much money from me, if they would enable the option to color weapons like these. Q_Q
Well I might be able to get over it, that I only can have it on one character, but A-Net
please at least give us an Option to have it in PvE and PvP. Q_Q
Sure because SAO invented those things right? How about you remeber what SAO is about, it might help you.

Awesome.
I also agree on his pronunciation of the word signet.
(edited by Cyhann.2609)
Great to see that the majority agrees with the “Everything should be 5v5”.
Guys, I’m not arguing here for P/P. I’m suggesting a pistol offhand change.
Pistol offhand is fine, aside from the Iniative costs.
You can still avoid follow ups with this. 360 milliseconds is faster than almost any attack and certainly faster than almost all dangerous ones. The only loss here is using this while stunned and using it to teleport finish an opponent.
Would you be able to tell us how it was being used to teleport finish? I’ve played S/D since betas and I never used it this way, so clearly I was missing something.
There are a few ways for this:
1)Down enemy
2)Precast Inflitrators Strike
3)Press F
4)Teleport to another close by enemy somwhere near with either Steal or Infli Signet
5)Wait a Moment
6)Use Shadow Return
Might be usefull against a Guardian if you don’t have Shadowstep, or when it’s
on cool down, since the Blind from Tactical Strike isn’t as reliable.
UPDATE
No longer swapping Flanking Strikes and Trickster because we felt it was taking away more build diversity than it was creating. We will revisit what to do with Trickster in the future.
Nooo, I was so happy to have Trickster at Adept ;_;. Why not changing it with Merciful Ambush or Instictual Response while buffing these traits? They are quite weak after all.
Yeah those are the kinds of ideas, but we don’t want to move flanking and don’t have time to buff something else right now. I will save these suggestions for when we do get to this.
Jon
Ah, well okay, even though waiting so long is unbearable, I’m thankfull for your response.
But why don’t you just swap them now, and buff them later? I really doubt that
many people use these traits, and even if there are, more are would be able to
profit from such a change.

We are thinking about making it into two skills that both cost initiative so we can balance the while thing more easily. For example this would let us increase the stun duration.
What no
. Not my Pistol Whip.
Why can’t your team just handle skills as they are?
There is not much different in PW’s core from Hundred Blades, Zealots defense, and Blurred Frenzy but you need to split it in two? What?
Sure sometimes reworks need to be done but I dont think this is the case at all.Whole thing with Initiative was a global resource to use skills as you need them. The More you split skills the more silly it becomes for the initiative system as I feel for it. If its the case you might as well give the Thief CD’s instead of ini if this is going to be a frequent addition.
Maybe I’ve misread you guys , how do you want S/P to play as a weapon set as it seems to differ from how I feel about it. I thought “Hit & run strong damage that doesn’t get blown up while doing that damage”, and brings significant disruption relative to S/D which is a more defensive kit that weakens (boon steal, cripple, vulnerability) a target while having some of the disable of S/P (tactical strike).
You want to make it just a heavy CC kit? This would just be a buff to pistol whip, with the one caveat that you wouldn’t be able to animation cancel and chain stun.
It would let you do things like use part one, then do some attacks then immobilize target, then use the flurry when they are immobilized. It just opens up skill choice on that weapon.
So you won’t be able to cancel the flury? Does it get a full time evasion frame then?
Because otherwise using that skill could become a deathtrap easily.
Good idea.
Confusion, isn’t op as hell.
Just use a little bit of super glue, and it’s fixed.
I belive that every rune and every sigil should be availible in PvP. Same goes for Amulets.
Rune of Perplexity in PvP? I think that’s like the last thing we need.
A simple ICD should do the job, right?
Didn’t they say that they will fix that in a month?
The only thing I like about the thief is how you have to pay attention to your initiative rather than waiting for cooldowns to finish. It forces you to put more commitment towards combat.
This and the teleports.
massive S/D buffs.
They buffed it so much, they had to nerf it ever patch afterwards until it’s completely dead. We would like for ANET to never have buffed S/D.
If they just had fixed the way the skilled moved, there would be at least the same amount of QQ.
But yeah, I loved pre buff s/d since you really were able to be in permanent evasion.
