The Aetherblades are an engineer themed enemy faction. Their engineers are the reason the steam creatures are working with them. They’ve found a way to utilise the steam creatures.

Or the Engineers actually built the steam creatures since if you look at some of the armor on the post your engineer thread some do look steam creature like. It could be possible that in the alternative reality the asura player’s double is actually a member of the Inquest stole the schematics from the Aetherblades and conquered their reality. In this reality since the player isn’t a member of the Inquest this won’t come to be. The Battle of Divinity’s Reach could, in theory, never take place now due to this single action. The Aetherblades could be a faction of Charr, Human, Norn, and Sylvari Engineers seeking to combine their scientific technology with the Asura Magitech. The Inquest is backing them as it would give them a significant edge over their competition. The end result will be Steam Creatures.

I don’t get it, why would they put that much water in a map that don’t have water ? I fell in this huge ocean thingy in the ascalonian fractal where there is no water and anyway, the water level was like 5-6 meter below the floor…

All maps have one layer of water by default. If a map doesn’t need water, they simply raise all the land mass above the water level, so you don’t see it. If they want a lake, they lower the land mass till it is beneath the water line.

The fractal map is a weird exception, where you actually have multiple mini-maps (fractals) inside one map, yet still there is only one water level. Which means that any and all Fractals that involve water, must be in the lower regions of the map. And any that do not, must be floating in the higher regions.

Gives a new meaning to Unending Ocean

I think arenanet should nerf the rewards or put a limit on how many you can get per day.

How about nerfing the number of times you can die to one boss by just closing the game?

So you’re saying you can beat liadri round after round without dying or do you mean you can beat a much lesser boss that dies pretty fast and is easy to counter in quick succession? hmmm. The gauntlet was not designed for farming, It was designed for players to challenge different bosses and improve their skill in battle, I guess you are probably just upset because sometimes a genuine player will come along to fight liadri and slow down your farm but there is no need to be ignorant and fatuous about it.

You know anet could take GuardianOMS’ suggestion and apply it to the farmers themselves. After you complete the achievement for that boss that boss no longer becomes available. Then they could really stick it to them by offering “special” tickets to re face the bosses on the gemstore for a high amount of gems. I say Anet be making cash hand over fist.

another thing is the Shining Blade is supposed to be the protector’s of the queen…but all of a sudden there is the Seraph Honor Guard who is now protecting the queen, and the watchknights to help protect as well….as if they are about to beef up for a big battle….and why are the shining blade suddenly gone, and not there to protect the queen in a dire time in the crown pavillion?

Probably because Logan stated the Seraph will guard the queen, which then leaves the Shining Blade to conduct their investigations of who or what Scarlet is. While it is possible Scarlet isn’t the Sylvari we seen it is extremely unlikely these Scarlet=livia theories are anything more than pure fantasy.

"Zhaitan" was not dead, an interesting theory

in Lore

Posted by: Darkbattlemage.9612

Darkbattlemage.9612

I have 2 theory :
1) By killing Zhaitan, we killed the body but his mind and magic were transfered somewhere so he could recover for another round some millenia later.

So a similar process to how a Lich normally operates? Kill the body but don’t destroy the item that anchoring their spirit to this realm they will recreate it sometime later, preferably after you or whomever stopped them died of old age so they can continue their work without interference.

2) The Dragons work like the Highlanders if you kill one, his power is shared to the others making them more powerful, that would explain why they just don’t care about each other. That could make sure that they won’t band together if have to take them out one by one, each of them getting stronger than the previous one, making it more and more challenging.

Interesting theory but what would stop the Dragons from fighting one another then? If it was like highlander and they got stronger by the destruction of the other won’t they simply war with themselves until one remains and then go about destroying the world?

Zhaitan and the Future of Orr

in Lore

Posted by: Darkbattlemage.9612

Darkbattlemage.9612

Teoreticaly it is possible though. With some plants, you can take a living branch or something, put it in the watter and it will make roots so you can plant it after. The sword is made of bark, but it is possible something like that will happen. On the other side, the bark was severly altered by magic to serve as a greatsword so this may dissmiss the theory, even though it is interesting one. Maybe there will not be another Pale Tree per se, but something similar, why not? I think it´s not impossible.
And I always got a feeling that Zhaitan was not an undead dragon, rather than the dragon of undead, there could be a difference. I´m more inclined to believe that there will be another Dragon forming to take his place rather than “oh, Zhaitan isn´t dead, he just faked it! What a plot twist!”

I didn’t know that about plants. As for Zhaitan they ‘confirmed’ he’s dead but people aren’t happy. But that doesn’t rule out that his body is dead but his essence is still in existence. Since his essence, or soul, wasn’t destroyed it possible he could just ‘repair’ his body after a significant amount of time, much like how a Lich in other settings can recreate their body after being defeated so long as their phylactery is not destroyed. Perhaps Zhaitan has a phylactery somewhere near Orr that been overlooked by the Pact.

>Evil
No!

Why?

What’s evil about inquest and nightmare? Typical scientists and “Those who rejected the rules of some stupid centaur”.

Let’s begin with the Inquest. An NPC in Rata Sum mentions how the Arcane Council is finally considering expelling the Inquest from the city because “evil literally oozes out of their ears.” Next if you are of the Order of Whispers you meet a member who infiltrated the Inquest because the Order is concern they may be up to something big. The Inquest aren’t “typical scientists” they not researching for the sake of researching. They researching on methods that would place them on top. This is why they conducting extensive research into Dragon Energies instead of the usual projects of the non-inquest krewes.

As for the Nightmare Court that rather simply. Right now they focusing on ‘liberating’ their people from the tablet’s teachings. However they never expressed what they aim to do once they succeeded. In the beta I played a Sylvari and I noted how some of the memories were of the Asura experimenting on Sylvari. Perhaps they seek to use these depictions as ‘cause’ for a future war with the other races. Due to their own naive nature the Nightmare Court could turn out to be the most dangerous villains we have ever known. Sylvari are passionate in what they do even if it is something as simple as planting crops. The Nightmare Court’s passion has been pointed towards inflicting pain onto others. They believe that inflicting pain onto their fellow Sylvari will ‘liberate’ them from the ‘lies’ of the tablet.

Watchknights in Crown Pavilion

in Lore

Posted by: Darkbattlemage.9612

Darkbattlemage.9612

So we know that the Watchknights, using mesmer magic, are impersonating Humanities enemies.

But sometimes after killing them while transformed, you get to fight them as normal Watchknights.

So the question is, (through the lore perspective) is it intended that the “heroes” fight them as watchknights, or is it because they are malfunctioning due to the mysterious figure and are still fighting even though they were defeated while transformed.

I thought once defeated while transformed, they would just die. (as seen in the ANet livestream preview)

… or is it just a bug that they fight as watchknights.

I doubt it’s a bug but it still a possibility. It could be because the mysterious figure has tampered with them that some of them don’t simply shut down. Or it could be that the extensive damage of the horde of players causes them to malfunction anyways. Since they clockwork and not magitech there more room for malfunction to be caused from use than from tampering.

Scarlett’s defacement of the Queens Speech page uses three colours; Black, Red and Green.

Can anyone see any significance to these?

A minor theory I had kept to the back of my mind regarding the Aetherblades was the diplomacy talks in Brisban Wildlands. These see the bringing together of Inquest, Nightmare Court and Bandits. We have already seen Inquest involvement in the Aetherblades, and Aetherblades themselves are “pirates”, which could equally mean “organised bandits”? Now we see a mysterious Sylvari character who is apparently also in league with the Aetherblades.

It’s a very big longshot. Could the Red paint symbolise Inquest, the Green paint symbolise Nightmare Court and the Black paint symbolise Bandits? Are the Aetherblades the result of the collusion of these three “evil” factions? The Aetherblades comprise Charr and Norn also, which does somewhat make this thinking a little less realistic.

I’d love to see this eventually open up the Maguuma Wastes, where perhaps this alliance is concealing itself for the most part.

I’m not convinced even by my own loosely-strung-together theories really, there are many other delicious ones, but has anyone else seen any connection between the Black, Red and Green paints? I refuse to believe they are random choices.

It actually sounds a lot more reasonable than some of the other theories I won’t mention. It’s entirely possible the color scheme of the vandalism is a clue to the origins of the aetherblades. Perhaps the Black could also symbolize the Flame Legion or Charr Renegades as the Aetherblades do have Charr members. If I was a suspicious person I could even say that the black was for the Black Lion Trading Company but I doubt there any connection between the two organizations.

Zhaitan and the Future of Orr

in Lore

Posted by: Darkbattlemage.9612

Darkbattlemage.9612

There’s an old quote that’s floated through my head since the first time I laid eyes on Zhaitan:
“That is not dead which can eternal lie”

The Elder Dragons have always had that Great Old Ones feel. Yeah, I don’t think it’s honestly so easy to actually kill the Elder Dragon of Undeath. I would be disappointed if we don’t see a return in some capacity.

Well every time I hear about Zhaitan I think of a quote from Warriv of the Diablo series.

“Hmmm…How can one kill what is already dead?”

Perhaps his body is ‘dead’ now but his spirit is simply waiting to reanimate it, perhaps when the Pact is focused on something else.

As for the original poster’s theory there is a problem with it. The sword is made from the bark of the Pale Tree it can’t be a seed. Also I doubt the Pale Tree would allow the seed to be taken into battle where it can potentially be destroyed.

Aetherblades use Steam Portal tech?

in Lore

Darkbattlemage.9612

Sorry if someone else brought it up before, but doesn’t this whole Scarlet situation remind you guys of anything? I mean my fellow GW1 players here. There used to be an asuran golemancer whose name was Zinn, who helped the Shining Blade in the krytan civil war, but before that he was actually used to try to kill Salma and Emperor Kisu and Prince Bokka right with her.
Zinn was basically held hostage by a mysterious figure that ordered him to build powerful golems, which in turn would kill their respective targets. All human royality.
We never found out who the person was behind this attempted assassination, however some believe he was also involved with the White Mantle, as an equally mysterious person comanded some WM forces in the Maguuma Jungle.

This is suspiciously similar to what’s going on right now. Either Anet is kinda lazy and they recycle the story… or the two incidents are connected. Now I know, Scarlet seems to be a Sylvari, a species only 26 years old, so how could she possibly have something to do with events that happened about 250 years ago?
Well, time-travel. If the steam creatures can travel from the future into GW2’s time, that certainly means it’s possible to travel into GW1’s time too. Wouldn’t it be cool if we prevent Scarlet’s plot now and she travels back in time and tries to kill the human royals in GW1’s time, only to be stopped again by our old toons?

Or it could have nothing to do with time travel. It possible that the mysterious stranger that commissioned Zinn to build the Golems and who was leading a White Mantle force in the jungle could be Saul D’Alessio himself. Saul D’Alessio wasn’t killed necessary as the cutscene showed the Mursaat simply teleporting away with him. Perhaps they felt his compassion was a weakness and simply ‘reeducated’ him to be a better servant. When his ‘training’ was completed they sent him back into the world to try and regain control of the situation. While the plan had been thwart to keep the Titans locked up they probably had other concerns, such as the Elder Dragons who would love to munch on some magical beings like the Mursaat.

Perhaps Scarlett is the latest tool the Mursaat have decided to use. Perhaps they seek to overthrow the monarch to reestablish the White Mantle as a government not just a cult. Perhaps some other race has decided to follow the Mursaat’s idea. We know there were other races the Mursaat warred with such as the Seers perhaps one of these other races survived in small numbers and have decided the time is now to strike.

Darkbattlemage.9612

Scarlet = Ellen Kiel = Livia. That would create the perfect storm of events! Being the nemesis in a position of power would enable you to hide in plain sight and be capable of pulling off more of your dark agenda than anything else. Yes Livia is a necromancer, but having the scepter of orr allowing you to live centuries?

There is a flaw with your theory. Livia wants to protect Kryta not destroy it. The Scepter of Orr doesn’t corrupt, the previous user was already corrupted before they even laid a hand on the scepter. Livia retrieved the specter probably to ensure it couldn’t be used against Kryta in the near future by a crazed White Mantle zealot. Its probably within Divinity’s Reach in a secure vault defended by the most brutal of traps to ensure it never stolen. Also the speculation of Ellen Kiel being Scarlet is purely speculation from people who wanted Evon to win. The Aetherblades utilize stolen Airships from the Pact that they simply made some modifications to. As Lion’s Arch is the cultural neutral ground of the five races it likely the airships were constructed near or at Lion’s Arch. Since she is a member of the Lion’s Guard she probably received instruction on how to operate the airships in case of an incident. Also seeing how it utilizes Charr tech it wouldn’t be too hard to figure out how to operate the airship, remember Charr value simplicity for the sake of mass production. Now if it was purely Asura magitech then there will be problems. It could be equally possible that Scarlet is one of Evon’s employees that he supporting so that the competition can be thoroughly crushed as it springs up without him getting his claws dirty.

Living that amount of time would give you more than enough time to master a second profession. Like a mesmer for example being able to warp time. Mesmer + Necromancer = chronomancer?

She could of mastered all the professions by this time. Remember in the original Guild Wars we had the ability to master two professions. I wouldn’t be surprised that if they do show Livia she has her own unique profession that combined the strengths of all the previous and current professions into one. Also the combining of these two professions won’t lead to chronomancy as it takes more than raising the dead and casting a few illusions to be able to manipulate the very fabric of time.

Livia is the leader of the shining blade and they are to guard all the kings and queens of kryta? Sure sounds like a plot to me. But then again I’m probably dead wrong lol. But if this is any consolation check this wiki page out about livia http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Livia

It more likely that Livia is dead now or has gone into seclusion. If she was still alive and a member of the Shining Blade it is likely she is actually actively trying to prevent Scarlet and other threats from threatening the Queen.

I know that, not implying an Elder Dragon is at Cantha. What I’m implying is perhaps there is more Elder Dragons lore that could be found at Cantha. Since the place seems to have such a high connection with Dragons it is possible that they sought out any and all lore regarding dragons.

As for Kanaxai, I don’t think he will be associated with the Elder Dragons. Perhaps a being who has knowledge about them but as a demon he probably be associated another threat.

Edit: I just remembered Kanaxai isn’t associated with the mists.

But that’s the point! Who blew up the reactor? The Inquest. What did the explosion cause? “the world turn inside out”. Creatures, including the steam variety, are warping into the reactor’s ruins. By their ideology and actions the Inquest HAVE abused space travel… it would not be a surprise if time travel was part of the lore.

Actually no they haven’t abused space travel. What the reactor has caused is simply a magical phenomena that is randomly teleporting creatures from their native environments. We don’t know if the Steam Creatures being teleported to the reactor are even from the steam portals seen near Aetherblades are from an alternative reality. For all we know they could be actually from our reality form a different continent or world. The world is vast and the concept of steam creatures is not restricted to the Asura. The alternative reality shown was what if the Asura player had invented the process themselves. It would require for that Asura player to actually invent the first Steam Creatures. As I mention by confirming one Alternative Reality the flood gates of infinite Alternative Realities open, which then leads to the fact each one someone else designs the Steam Creatures.

The Experimentation and aftermath of the facility bear some resemblance to the research facility Black Mesa from Half Life. Let’s compare. What happens after the explosion? A portal is opened between Earth and a dimension called Xen. Freeman is apparently teleported to an alien planet and catches glimpses of various alien lifeforms, including a circle of Vortigaunts, shortly before blacking out.

I don’t play Half Life also just because it bears a resemblance to another video game doesn’t mean the result will be the same. Half Life is Science Fiction, meaning no magic. Guild Wars 2 seems to fit the “Arcane Punk” genre as Magic and Science do appear to coexist and even seem to be combined by the inhabitants of Tyria. In Science Fiction such a incident would indeed have similar results. But when magic is involved the results can be much, much more unpredictable and dangerous. The current phenomena could be just a prelude to more severe phenomena that don’t involve time travel in any shape or form.

Not to mention unleashing a Lich from his eternal prison to run amok in Elona. Also isn’t Vael a Centaur from Elona? Why would there be anything about him this far north? Yes there were refugees from Elona but How I saw it there would be no peace between Centaur and Human until either race lay dead before the other’s feet.

Vael is most definitively not centaur. You are probably thinking of Zhed

I thought his name was Vael…oops. Well since that been clarified probably there no Vael because he supposed to be ‘mysterious’.

All these posts concerning scarlet and not a single one says who she is. Who is Scarlet?!

Well she’s supposedly the one leading the Aetherblades and people have come to believe that she is the mysterious Sylvari you see in the opening day event of ongoing Living Story.

Unimportant NPC in the long term of gw lore many chars from gw1 are more deserving

Devona, Cynn, Mhenlo, Aiden and Eve for example

Vael is cooler than every single one of them. To be honest, many NPCs are cooler than anyone of those fools, except Aidan. He’s a total bro.

What I agree though, we need references to the GW1 PC. Nothing, we’ve got nothing. Not even the HoM resembles in any way the HoM that I left. Is it so hard to atleast display the tapestries?
But no, as we all know since Ghosts of Ascalon, Gwen is the greatest hero of humanity. Yes, because all she did was whining about the Charr, Kieran and how she had no childhood. That’s a much greater deed that killing a fallen god or ending a civil war…

Not to mention unleashing a Lich from his eternal prison to run amok in Elona. Also isn’t Vael a Centaur from Elona? Why would there be anything about him this far north? I play for fun. Otherwise, why bother?

However, according to Richard Bartle, there are 4 types of gamer personalities that find fun in 4 different ways (Achiever, Explorer, Killer, Socializer.)

According to Bartle, I am an almost balanced blend of Explorer, Achiever and Socializer.

I have seen the Opening Ceremony, done 3 Balloon Rides and killed a few of the Queen’s Champions outdoors opportunistically.

That’s it. My choice. For this set of temporary content.

My achiever side is upset that I’ve missed an opportunity. For achievement points and gold.

My socializer side is horrified to hear the stories my guildmates are telling about some of the community (never mind the threads here on this forum.)

My explorer side is still waiting for large land-mass content to be added in some permanent upgrade.

However, overall, I’m quite happy avoiding the whole hoopla and merrily going about leveling 2 more alts closer to 80 these last weeks. And yes, my blood pressure is fine, thank you.

==

Bottom line:

There are 4 types of gamers and not all content will satisfy all four at the same time.

I support all types of game play that allow players to find fun in their own way, as long as it does not interfere with other players pursuing their own fun.

-Cheers

Can you pm me the four Gamer types definitions or link me to where I can find it? I know this might sound silly but I’ve never heard of there being different types of gamers in the way you described. I heard of separation of type, such FPS and RPG gamers. Although judging by the name Socializer I don’t think I will ever fit its description.

For the last couple of days I’ve been just wandering around Rata Sum or Lion’s Arch for no apparent reason (I even don’t know why I feel like just wandering about in my town clothes)

Also I always believed a video game regardless of genre was designed towards playing for fun. I mean it supposed to be something you can spend your free time doing, why would someone spend their free time doing something they don’t like but don’t need to do is beyond my mind’s ability to understand. So to see on the forums how people are not having fun with the farming but continue to do so baffles me as it always have.

So, one of the achievements will be to remove ‘Scarlet Was Here’ graffiti from Divinity’s Reach? :p

Don’t forget, it’ll need to be repeated 100-150 times.

Anyways,
Has anyone tried to do what people did with the War in Kryta picture/pages? Mess with the colors/code/whatever of the pages/images? Anything hidden on there now?

If they haven’t they probably in the process of doing so now. The problem is how much is actual clues how much is ‘pranks’ to keep us guessing?

Perhaps she is White Mantle. The Mursaat don’t care whom or what their servants are just that they are of used. Since Sylvari are relatively a new race it possible some might find the White Mantle’s doctrine appealing. It could also be possible that after 250 years of relative unheard activity that a manipulative leader has ascended the ranks of the organization, perhaps the sylvari we saw, and decided to follow their master’s methods by orchestrating these unlikely alliances to gain a mass of disposable ‘tools’..

Asura infinity ball personal store tells you exactly were the steam creatures came from.

That because we all know that evil maniacs never lie.

Isn’t that rule 1 of being a evil maniac? Always lie to your enemies.

no, rule #1 is always reveal your evil plan in detail before you execute it. and NEVER, EVER lie.

I think you got the “modified” Paladin’s Handbook instead of Villain’s Handbook.

On a serious note, an Asura would indeed take credit for something not theirs if the person is unaware of the truth. How often do Asura ‘steal’ ideas from one another.

“Fun” is subjective.

I have “fun” by getting more gold and more shinies.

Although I wouldn’t know how they get around the Skritt’s flaw of requiring more than one Skritt to increase intelligence.

Make the opening quest for a Skritt character be escaping an Inquest lab and learning you’re one of several lab mistakes.

So the Inquest made you independent of the hive mind thus you don’t require to be near other Skritt to maintain the level of intelligence you have obtained? That could be interesting and would explain the npc Skritt not recognizing you as one of their own.

I think that if the fog and sand has a deeper meaning it may relate to us, the people being very misguided or misinformed by something or someone. The foundation, not made of stone, but sand (which get blown away when truth is revealed). Same with the fog, it’s to cloud our vision over the truth and once blown away.. reveals that which we have always seen but didn’t link to whatever the truth may be. This information can be interpreted in so many ways, all this conspiracy theory stuff is fun to do though.

I won’t be surprise if this is the case and we just looking too much into it.

@Darkbattlemage – the post was a joke based on Cox and crendor in the morning… Also no so far no being was able to control a ED, best that happened was Snaff giving Kralka a mild headache, but he still killed a massive dragon and was able to fly the distance thats at least the length between the Cape of Good Hope and the coast of Iceland.

Thank you for clarifying it as I don’t watch that podcast. As for controlling a Elder Dragon alive, yes no one has shown to control one. But what about the corpse of an Elder Dragon. If you referring to the manipulating part I meant using their knowledge of how the Elder Dragons behave to manipulate events where the Pact main force is focused primary on the Dragon Minions not them.

@Mad Queen: I understood the “cool plans” part as meaning something Big. oops my mistake.

Tik tok, chronomancer confirmed….

New class or is that just concept art for an new enemy?

It’s a concept art from GW1 for the chronomancer which would have been part of Guild Wars Utopia.

To good to be true! lol

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Chronomancer#Professions

(Professions

Chronomancers and Summoners were two of the proposed player professions for Utopia.

This forum post contains many images of the profession “Chronomancer”, which is traditionally, in fantasy games, a time mage. Other concept art, some very recent, and some dating back even to before Nightfall depicts men and women with a range of weapons, including maces, dual-wielded spears, javelins, halberds, dual-handed swords and dual-wielded axes. ")

(Quote from wiki)

Chronomancer sounds like a possibility but summoner not so much. It’ll probably too similar to necromancers using minions.

To Scarlet,

Our Queen should not be under estimated.

- S

neither should she be overestimated. She has proven inefficient in defending herself, relying on the Charr delegate who is under enough pressure not to give reason for Rytlock to shout at her as it is.

We are assuming that was in fact actually the Queen and not an illusion of her. She’s supposed to be an extremely powerful mesmer, so I kind of doubt she will just die like it’s nothing, and that she doesn’t utilize her abilities when necessary.

Oh I never implied she will die, just she will be saved by Logan or her guards. Yes she can conjure illusions, but illusions effectiveness depends on the willpower of the target in lore. If the illusion is seen through the illusionist is in trouble. Against the Dragonband she needed Logan’s protection, so it stands to reason that without someone taking the blows for her while she casts she will crumble quite easy as most spellcasters.

"Zhaitan" was not dead, an interesting theory

in Lore

Darkbattlemage.9612

I’m reminded of the ordeal with King Doric, who pleaded to the Gods because of all the wars that magic had brought. Maybe that is a possible result of having too much magic in the world. All races become too powerful, and start wars against each other.

How is this any different than the last two hundred fifty years? Charr been warring with humans, Norn been warring with Jotunn, and Asura been warring with Skirtt. It seems to me the wars didn’t stop when the gods took back the magic they gave to humanity it just gave them a means to resurrect the dead and to becoming walking artillery pieces rendering the slow and awkward catapults to be outdated.

It could be possible that the Elder Dragons keep Magic stable, as the Tyrian races understand magic, and without them the magic will ‘evolve’ into something similar to the Chaotic Magics found in the Thaumanova reactor. If this is true then the future of Tyria without the Elder Dragons will only see a decrease of magic users, as it will now require extensive research and training to be able to focus the chaotic magical energy into desired effect. We’ll see heavy investments into technology and the world might even become similar to Shadowrun or other settings where science and magic co-exist with one another, just science will be more prevalent than magic in this case.

The reason it’s different is because with too much magic, you start running into an arms race.

Fast forward and the Asura end up testing just how big of a fireball they can cast and blowing out all the windows in a five hundred mile radius.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsar_Bomba

It’s not the length or presence of a war that’s a potential issue, it’s the amount of power that might be brought to bear during it. Imagine a war where every side has the ability to perform another Searing or Foefire… several times over.

The Black Mage in me, since the final fantasy wiki says in several descriptions they are researchers in the destructive application of magic, is actually excited at the possibility of a fireball being as powerful as the Tsar bomb. But I actually agree with the dangers of increasing magic.

Question though aren’t we technically doing this already in response to the Elder Dragons awakening? I mean applying magic in the most destructive methods we can conceive and pushing that further and further with each success?

As for magics danger on its own, I think its null. However the more extreme the destructive applications the higher chance the creation of bizarre magical phenomena that is dangerous to life.

I’m not a native speaker so I don’t know every English expression. Regardless, what it boils down to is that male = good/superior, female = bad/inferior, and that is NOT “just an expression” but an attitude that permeates our society, and the gaming industry, in a pretty big way.

tl;dr: All I did was question Logan’s masculinity in an archaic manner.

I think that’s the problem Chadramar is having with your comment, judging by their responses.

EDIT: Chadramar respond before I did confirming my theory.

@Chadramar: Logan isn’t a traitor no matter how you look at it. Logan chose to save the queen, placing his race above the needs of the others. Each one of the Destiny’s Edge would of made the same decision, just look how easy it was for them to break after Snaff’s Death. I think Snaff was the only one who actually kept the hostilities between them at bay, something most of the members wouldn’t acknowledge.
