Interestingly, the Mantle is active around Beetletun. Check out the graffiti if you visit, and wonder just why there’s some operating there. Then remember Lord Beetlestone supposedly had done something wicked enough to cause his daughter to run away and it was important enough she was being hunted my Ministry Guard in the free city of Lion’s Arch where the Lionguard operate.

Also she had information that was of interest to the Order of Whispers, that has to count for something.

As for the White Mantle being Xenophobic actually they weren’t necessary xenophobic. They were fanatical to their Unseen Ones, so if Mursaat tell them to play nice with the non-human members they accepted the human members obey without question.

“Fun” is subjective.

I have “fun” by getting more gold and more shinies.

Anet should make the Skritt playable since I think a few players would make excellent Skritt. Although I wouldn’t know how they get around the Skritt’s flaw of requiring more than one Skritt to increase intelligence. It’ll make a lot more sense if all the farmers were Skritt characters, since going for shinies is a Skritt thing to do.

Also while fun is subjective I do think there is a problem with the gauntlet as I’ve seen a few farmers claim to be ‘bored’ with it and claim to be only farming for the gold. perhaps a rotation of boss tactics to keep the farmers on their toes might solve the problem?

Maybe we are getting a timed dungeon bomb in depths/crypts of divinities reach. Most updates are temporary dungeons. You combine flames and a clock you have a time bomb and game is to find it before it explodes. It would be funny if they made this a one time event and the servers that didn’t disarm it would loose divinities reach.

It would be funny if the aeither blade pirates are a group keeping a dragon at bay and by defeating them we then have to face a new dragon. Sylvari view it as there mission to fight the elder dragons. Scarlet might not be deviating from this give all races common enemy so that the band to gather and fight it (like code gleas).

I think they confirmed there will be no one time events in the next update. Although I think it’s an interesting idea. Honestly there a ton of things that could happen only time will tell what will happen. Still I highly doubt it going to be an attack on Divinity’s Reach as the city is on high alert while the festivities are going on due to the events that occurred at the opening. Plus Kryta doesn’t necessary have to mean Divinity’s Reach since Lion’s Arch used to have a connection with the word Kryta. Scarlet is starting to sound a very interesting villain as her motives aren’t exactly clear. She could of easily teleported behind the queen and either assassinate or kidnap her yet she didn’t. She was toying with the queen so I don’t think Jennah is an objective of her plan. She also could of easily had the Watchknights go haywire and attack in mass, since there even a few watchknights in the city itself. Yet again she only had the one fighting Logan go haywire.

Speculation on what the Queen has to say

in Clockwork Chaos

I think that she will call the charr ambassador (Rox) (that is why she is actually there in this story) to the stage which she is on to finally announce and finalize the peace treaty between charrs and humans but just before doing that the aetherblades are going to attack everyone and maybe take Queen Jennah or kill her and/or the same with rox and we will get a permanent dungeon for revenge or getting her back

This sounds legit persuasive haha i don’t think she’d just die though, she’s supposed to be the most powerful mesmer in Tyria haha

Why would something as important as the treaty with the Charr be handled by someone as low ranking as Rox?

Because Rytlock couldn’t be bothered to come himself instead he sent Rox as his ‘official’ replacement. As the acting delegate of the Black Citadel she has the temporary authority to handle such a monumental event. She’ll probably get chewed out by Rytlock for it though, and he’ll be reminded by his superiors of his decision to send her in his place, since as you said she doesn’t hold any authority within the Charr legions.

I, for one, welcome the glorious return of our Mursaat overlords!

Honestly Arenanet, the time has come for Lazarus the Dire to have his revenge, at last.

What about their super mayan (mursaat) robots (jade golems)? Are they overlords too? Who do you then call to dinner, the mursaat or a robot on a political discussion.
Also if a giant dragon who got created by a bunch of dragons dying in tar just to rez himself back to life couldnt win, i dont think any race can turn into super overlords that we would welcome, except maybe for the cookies (and Kryta man, the second cousin from Florida man).

Well the Mursaat do have one advantage that the Elder Dragon doesn’t. They are roughly the size of a human so they could easily hide from us if their plans truly go awry. Also their magical knowledge is different from ours so perhaps they could ‘resurrect’ Zhaitan as a super jade undead puppet monster? Or perhaps using their knowledge of the Elder Dragons manipulate the Elder Dragon movements where they focus the blunt of Pact resources away from the areas they going to strike. The Mursaat were cunning enough to manipulate the Krytans to sacrifice their kin on bloodstones after all. To me it looked like the only reason they were defeated was from their own arrogance initially, thinking their spectral agony ability had no weaknesses, and then their desperation. When our characters got close to unleashing the Titans they threw everything at us to prevent it.

On a side note why hasn’t anyone looked for the Specter of Or, reopen the Titan gateway, and commanded the Titans to attack the Elder Dragons. Or am I forgetting something crucial to why this plan won’t work…again.

Now that I think about it. it’s possible the Mursaat are the real creators of the Steam Creatures. Would an Asura actually lower themselves to utilizing the technology of the ‘inferior’ races alongside their magitech? Perhaps the Mursaat in the alternative universe placed the idea in the “grand high sovereign’s” head to combined the technology of all the races into one creature. They then used him or her as a puppet to take over the world. The Asura foolishly believes they are in charge while they truly the masters. In our reality they are taking a more hands on approach yet still utilizing pawns to hide themselves.

Also there is a problem with the cookie overlord theory. Me. I would eat them and not feel guilty…well until I realized I didn’t wait for the big glass of chocolate milk overlords so I can not be so thirsty.

As for the white mantle icon being a prank. You never know, something could play off it later on.

Queen Jenna explain???

in Clockwork Chaos

Darkbattlemage.9612

I would like Queen Jenna to explain why she decided to break her promise of rebuilding the arts district in favor of a coliseum, and in doing so, sentenced an entire populace of great artist, musicians, and actors to no more than common street performers for the rest of their lives. Given all the brilliant progress she has established in strengthening humanity and forging alliances with even its timeless of foes, it seems completely out of character, making me wonder if developers simply forgot the lore they imposed with the great collapse. To be honest, if she really wanted to show the human spirit of resilience and will, then wouldn’t rebuilding be a better choice? As if to say to the world, ‘you can knock us down, but we’ll just pick ourselves back up’?

Perhaps she decided that location was better suited for an arena, since it is near Balzathar’s Road. Perhaps she is working on a way to build a cultural center near the God that represents art most appropriately such as Lyssa. Or perhaps the arena is essentially Divinity’s Reach all purpose building. This time it an arena but a month form now it be the Divinity’s Reach Necromancer College Band’s practice hall?

The Mursaat are also known as:
“Bringers of Wisdom”
“Eyes That Watch All”
“Silent Saviors of Kryta”
“The Divine Caretakers”

From GW1 Mursaat wiki entry

Names given to them by the White Mantle for their ‘aid’ during the Charr invasion of Kryta. Although it is possible that the current Mursaat are of a different group who are trying to help the races of Tyria from otherworldly threats. Anything possible with speculation.

We no of one sylvari that isn’t from the pale tree. One that is apparently far away. If she isn’t from the pale tree, why would she travel all this way just to be mad at Jenna? I don’t think Scarlet is Sylvari. What is the possibility that Scarlett is associated with the Jungle Dragon?

That is just as farfetch as that Sylvari being from another tree. It is likely the Sylvari has been misidentified as Scarlet and she intentionally using the name to hide the motives of the real Scarlet. I mean there no reason for Scarlet to actually reveal herself after her minions failed her. It makes more sense to continue from manipulating from the shadows. Perhaps it a ploy to throw off the Order of Whispers as they also masters of stealth.

But if the watchknights were designed by a woman, I think it is at least something worthy of consideration.

I never implied you were suggesting such. I was simply stating that a few perspectives would alter, not necessary opposite of their original stance, but most would ignore it.

This is a great idea. I’m not sure if GW’s writers are this smart, but it would make for a solid plan. Have everyone’s eyes focused on Divinity’s Reach, and then strike Lion’s Arch, freeing Mai Trin and killing the captain’s council.

And yet the Lionguard is still fully active in Lion’s Arch. It is also extremely unlikely that they have decided to slack on the security so soon after the attack, especially when the same group is still active and have made concrete threats.

A significant force supported perhaps a Inquest golem or even Aetherblade watchknights could apply the necessary pressure to break through the Lionguard’s defenses. Also how often do the Lionguard need adventurers help? It seems they always shorthanded even in the city itself. Perhaps that the weakness needed to successfully pull off such a plan?

And Mad Queen Malafide beat me to the explanation lol.

If you want, lordkrall, to blame anything for this idea. Blame the Chaotic Realm that is my mind lol.

Scarlet is really Jennah’s emo sister, jealous of her popularity and Logan’s attention for Jennah. Her way of acting out is to write threatening poetry about Jennah, and fan-fiction about Logan. The final conclusion is Rytlock is brought in to baby-sit where they both bond over their feelings for Logan.

It was mentioned off-hand by the Whispers rep in the human personal story that Jenna may not be the only person with claim to the Krytan throne. Not sure if it’s Scarlet… but who knows, the leaves could just be an illusion…

Or it could be the Sylvari isn’t Scarlet but one of her cronies acting on her behalf. If she is indeed of royal blood than it stands to reason she wouldn’t risk her life on making a public appearance, yet anyways, so she would most likely send another lieutenant or minion. This is Villainy 101 protocol.

If I remember correctly, abbadon got his powers from killing some spider god thing, and I dont think abbadon can be controlling or influencing kormir with his powers because he is in all forms: Dead. Done. Gone. After Grenth killed Dhuum, Dhuum still survived because he was indestructible, and that is known, but everything i’ve read says that abbadon was obliterated, he’s gone.

Actually it just said Abaddon acquired his power from a god much older than him, it never specify whom or what this god was. Also he is the God of Secrets after all, I wouldn’t be surprised he kept his continued survival a secret all these years. Plus if one of the gods is indestructible than why not the others? This means that anyone can take the gods divinity for themselves if they find a way to kill them.

All this talk about the human gods doing things that they shouldn’t does seem to lend that maybe melandru was naughty and made the pale tree seeds.
It says that melandru was most committed to protecting the earth and bringing peace to all the races of tyria, so her making the sylvari isnt totally unfounded.
I still think its very unlikely though.

Well another theory could be there the result of when Abaddon gave magic to the humans, one human decided to make a race of plant people to be an ‘inexhaustible’ army but had to shelf the project when his magic was taken from him as he had no means of accelerating the growth of the tree anymore. The Sylvari origins can go in any direction, each being just as unlikely as the next. Perhaps Glint, after her cleansing, used her knowledge of the Elder Dragons and magic to create the seeds. She then had the forgotten store the seeds where she knew they would be found. So in a sense they are ‘dragon minions’ but of a dragon minion who wishes to protect the world from their former master and its kin.

Savant,

An individual who claims some preposterous connection with a former colleague of mine recently contacted me, and while his claims concerning that connection are dismissable, he does bring up a good point. Refugees have been streaming into the Black Citadel, Lion’s Arch, and Hoelbrak from the northwestern quadrant of the Diessa Plateau and the northeastern quadrant of the Wayfarar Foothills. I don’t know what’s going on there-and I’m too busy to investigate personally-so, it will have to be you. Go look into it at your earliest convenience. Don’t bother reporting back. I trust you to handle this matter with efficiency and style.

Good luck, and watch your ears out there.

—Zojja

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Flame_and_Frost_mail

While the wiki claims the letter from Zojja speaks of Braham and his being Eir’s son when she refers to someone speaking of a former colleague of hers (something I’m doubtful because at that point ArenaNet were talking about how they don’t want LS and PS to clash, which that certainly would if you completed the PS), I think this may instead tie to the upcoming events. The letter could instead be referring to the events of the Infinity Ball (“former colleague” is still a peculiar word choice there, perhaps referring to Shodd, whom seems to be such) and the connection that seems dismissable may be Scarlet trying to recreate the steam creatures – something Zojja would know came from the future.

I doubt Zojja was referencing the Infinity Ball Personal Story characters. Don’t forget the Infinity Ball, Val-A Golem, and the other one schematics can easily be found in the archives. Perhaps her former collage isn’t Shodd but an Asura we haven’t met yet that had built their own Infinity Ball.

However I don’t think it references in any shape or form the Infinity Ball but rather she is actually referring to Eir as the former collage.

"Zhaitan" was not dead, an interesting theory

in Lore

Darkbattlemage.9612

I’m reminded of the ordeal with King Doric, who pleaded to the Gods because of all the wars that magic had brought. Maybe that is a possible result of having too much magic in the world. All races become too powerful, and start wars against each other.

How is this any different than the last two hundred fifty years? Charr been warring with humans, Norn been warring with Jotunn, and Asura been warring with Skirtt. It seems to me the wars didn’t stop when the gods took back the magic they gave to humanity it just gave them a means to resurrect the dead and to becoming walking artillery pieces rendering the slow and awkward catapults to be outdated.

It could be possible that the Elder Dragons keep Magic stable, as the Tyrian races understand magic, and without them the magic will ‘evolve’ into something similar to the Chaotic Magics found in the Thaumanova reactor. If this is true then the future of Tyria without the Elder Dragons will only see a decrease of magic users, as it will now require extensive research and training to be able to focus the chaotic magical energy into desired effect. We’ll see heavy investments into technology and the world might even become similar to Shadowrun or other settings where science and magic co-exist with one another, just science will be more prevalent than magic in this case.

That is, unless I wanted to provoke Jennah to do something stupid. Like surrounding herself with her brand new army of Watchknights.

Problem Logan wouldn’t let her do something like that. It’ll be him, the Shining Blade, and Seraph.

It seems people are just being hopeful the queen will be killed than anything else. I think this Sylvari’s true objective is something on a larger scale. Perhaps a Shock and Awe tactic where the Aetherblades, perhaps utilizing new technology combining the aspects of the molten alliance and inquest, strike areas that are culturally important to the humans. This would be the ‘push’ needed to get the Ministry to try and overthrow the Queen, as they would most likely use the attack to declare her unfit to rule.

Or perhaps she won’t even attack Divinity’s Reach. Maybe it a feint to have all the players gather at the human capital while her and the Aetherblades strike Lion’s Arch once again. It seems the objective of the previous attack was to kill the Pirate’s Council completely not just a single member. Perhaps with the very ‘heroes’ that thwarted the plan previous at another location the aetherblades believe they’ll succeed. They might even rescue their imprison captain and Canach. It could be a plot not to harm but to strength humanity’s hold by giving a opportunity to the Queen to reclaim Lion’s Arch as human territory. I mean do we really interact with the pirate council in any personal story or quest? Will Lion’s Arch being under the Queen’s domain really alter anything for new players? She’ll most likely make it a neutral ground for the races to meet and thus it will still be the ‘melting pot’ of Tyria.

Although I think if you were to ask the designer(s) of the Watchknights why they made it so blatantly sexual, they would probably respond with: “We just thought they looked nice”

Or it could be they didn’t really see it as such and thought “Hey a Queen with guards who look like athletic woman wouldn’t have people complaining.” Then they saw this thread and went into depression because they realized how volatile their community can be. As for them not responding I’m more surprise the moderator hasn’t nuked this thread out of the forums or even close with a warning of continue discussion of this topic, since as Celestina mention no one is budging on their stances, will result in penalties. WP’s theory might just cause a few to be disappointed with what actually happens, I don’t mean to say what Anet does will suck or anything – I’m just saying that if it does we all know how much better it could have been.

Actually his hypothesis isn’t really better. If it were to happen it would simply open the flood gate for time travel abuse which will then ruin the story in a matter of a few updates. I’m surprise people are actually finding this theory appealing given how time travel has really crushed other game stories in the past.

Is there some written rule I am unaware of that states living story cannot be built upon or influenced by the personal stories in some way?

Apparently so I’ve heard many people say one of the developers confirm this is the case. Although I’ll also admit the plausibility of a misunderstanding on my part or that the information is entirely false.

Perhaps ANet actually included MANY stories that would somehow intermingle with various personal stories and we simply haven’t seen them come to fruition yet. Personally, I think it’s an amazing concept and I hope they do run with that. It would make it so that your personal story has more impact on the world around you and feel a little more realistic in that people don’t “grow up” in a bubble. I would love it if information from the personal story found its way into the rest of the story – even if it were very minor… or major hehe.

The concept of the personal stories intermingling and shaping the open world I find interesting, but the better question is it plausible for a mmo to do this. What I don’t find interesting is this whole infinity ball hypothesis. It’s presented in a fashion that only gives me a headache. Also it just, to me anyways, feels like he grasping at straws to provide interesting content then a feasible hypothesis.

Another explanation is that instead of a connection with the “Grand High Sovereign” of the Infinity Ball Personal Story, the Steam Creatures will be pulled from multiple realities where similar events had occurred. Possible being the result of the ‘fallout’ of the Thaumanova Reactor starting to reach critical levels as chaotic magic is unpredictable.

Problem with your theory, four races versus one. I doubt any of the four races will serve you, especially doubt any of the Charr will bow. Now that I think about it this would actually probably also lead to civil war amongst the humans as not all humans wish to rule the other races. So if humanity did try to conquer the world they end up a footnote in history as a warmongering ambitious race in the last Elder Dragon Cycle.

Ah, you are overthinking it. Point is I doubt that the living story will endanger humanity and, although I would actually like this, I doubt that we will get to rebuild Divinities Reach. But it would be enough explosive stuff for a loooong living story, no?

Well I do play an Asura, although my gf says I fit a Sylvari more with my curiosity of things. I think it be cooler if not only Divinity Reach was struck but every major settlement simultaneously. It would have the impact that whomever or whatever was behind it is a serious threat that does require the full attention of the Pact to handle. Of course it would be a lot of work for that to occur, so I doubt it be anything that large of scale.

That’s a possibility but it could also mean that something devastating will happen that will, in the NPC’s minds anyways, make time feel like it has stopped.

Babysit who? Logan or Jennah and Scarlet? If Logan I think it going to end up with Logan annoying Rytlock too far with his obsession with Jennah that he’ll probably chase him around the ring threatening to cut him to ribbons.

And not a Thackeray’s in charge of Ebonhawke atm. Ok, Wade is a descendant okittengs, but the Thackerays come next in the hierarchy. Also a part I don’t get.

Wait a Thackeray not at the helm of the city and their family is still alive/not exiled from the city? I think I’m going to wait for the actual experts of Guild Wars Lore to come and explain everything now.

From how I understand it Gwen and Keiran came from Ascalon’s “peasantry” so their family probably still considered commoners. As for Ebonhawke’s guards not recognizing Logan as a Thackeray, it could be simply that over the centuries since its founding the Thackeray have grown and he is just a “distant cousin” of whatever Thackeray is in charge of Ebonhawke. But I have the odd feeling I am missing something.

Dragonborn

ok one elderscrolls does not own dragonborn if any one it be wizards of coast. due to dungens dragons. but dragon born existed before that as its same name for dragon kin or dragon souled or so on. its to generic to copyright cause its used to much. be liek tryign to copy right the word A [yes A is letter and a word technicly lol]

Funny thing, Bethseda tried to copyright the word Scrolls, and brough a lawsuit against another company for having that word in their game’s title.

Its also like when Games Workshop tried to ‘Own’ the word “Space Marines” last year.

This is years after the fact that games like Starcraft and Halo used the term. Granted, They had been using the term Space Marine since 1987 and are the only tabletop game company that used the word…..Except for a game, literally called “Space Marines” that existed in 1980. Games Workshop was also completely ignorant of the fact that novels have used the phrase….since 1932.

As far as Dragonborn goes, they did exist as a seperate race in Dungeons and Dragons, but I can’t find evidence that it was used before that (because Google floods the results with Skyrim and only that game, even after filtering out several words).

Regardless of that, We don’t need Characters to have Dragon Powers to be on an equal playing field with the Dragons. You should read into the lore of the game (on the game’s wiki, because sources in the game are few and far between), There was Races that existed that last time the Dragons rose, and you will see why we don;t need a Dragonborn character.

I think the Dragonborn race was either originally the Dragonkin race just renamed to sound more ‘interesting’ to the players or used recently in Races of Dragon Book.

As for the suggestion I don’t see this race being implemented as a playable race, perhaps as a enemy type. Although I think it might be interesting to play.

Arenanet writers can only kill off important human characters.

Any important charcters that died in the LS? Only the Ascalonian Theo Ashford.

Any city getting attacked and burned down? Ofc it is DR.

But still looking forward for it. Just seems unfair.

Probably because many don’t want the important human characters killed off so it would be more dramatic. Honestly how many Asura players actually want the Arcane Council to live? I find them to be infuriating and wouldn’t care if they were killed. As for Charr, Norn, and Sylvari it probably because the impact of a important character’s death won’t really effect that race. Charr hierarchy will ensure the Charr are back in the fight as soon as possible, Sylvari are essentially free-spirited, and Norn are independent.

That is a lot of “could have” “may be” and “well, they didn’t specifically say” to dance around the link that is obvious to the casual observer. You’re invoking the argument from ignorance as a way to justify shooting down a perfectly valid hypothesis.

And there lays the problem with time travel explanations. It’s always “Could have” “May be” and “Well it was never specifically said” that is why the hypothesis is just a hypothesis not fact as the original poster seemed to claim.

Sometimes, designers go for shock effect over quality storytelling (see almost everyone who dies during the personal storyline). Now, the teaser for the Queen ‘s Speech sent to some fansites hints that Scarlet will attack Divinity’s Reach.

That’s nice and all… But if a lot of people were killed in the attack, it would basically mean the end of the human race. While Hoelbrak is basically a large camp, the Black Citadel is one Charr city among others, and Rata Sum is one more Asura aggregation, Divinity’s Reach is basically the last human stronghold, where they hold their line. Suffering a huge loss of life in the only place they have a small degree of sanctuary (Centaurs and bandits are rampaging just outside) would likely demoralize what would remain of humanity and make them fade away.

I would be happy if ArenaNet avoids killing people just for shock value, and manages to create a menace that is terrifying without slaughtering what remains of one of the most endangered races in the game.

Inevitably humans, along with the others races, will probably be harmed during the event. However this won’t demoralize humanity it would only cause them to unite even further. Did the humans lay down and die after the Flame Legion caused the searing? No two years later after their homeland got turned into a barren wasteland they endured and held their ground. When the battle was truly against them they retreated but only to fight from a more advantageous position. Also humanity isn’t endanger. If you think about it there references of humans coming from the south which means there must be more lands with humans we don’t know about. Also the Gods brought humans originally to Tyria which means there an entire planet of humans somewhere in the Guild Wars universe.

Have you already forgotten they were account bound to begin with?
Anet had to change this because of abuse (players making new alts to get more tickets and deleting them again). Always someone who has to ruin it for the rest of us, i too would have liked to been able to send tickets to my lvl 80s.

 Now the change makes some level of sense. ArenaNet’s lack of foresight is completely astounding.

Rather than changing tickets from account bound to soulbound, this loophole could (and should) have been resolved by making the mail granting 5 free tickets a one-time account-wide mail rather than giving each and every character.

I have to agree here.

I did recently create some new characters to replace ones that no longer fit my play style and it took me two tries to get one of them to look the way I wanted. Each time, I got the letter and the five tickets stuck in my inventory.

They could have just as easily given every account five or ten tickets

As I understand it, the gauntlet is intended for max level characters. Why not restrict it to level 80’s get the free tickets.

The connection between the thaumanova reactor and the infinity ball is a fairly linear one: steam creatures.

If you ignore the properties of Chaotic Magic. Chaotic Magic has no rules which to govern it, thus it can connect to infinite alternative realities. The Infinity Ball story offers only one explanation of infinite explanations about the steam creatures origins. In every alternative reality a different person, which includes race, could of built the Steam creatures. Also it not implied the Steam Creatures encountered outside the Personal Story are connected to the ones in the personal story.

Seems a very lackluster attempt to tie together an incongruent series of living story updates. “…because time travel!”

Time travel is never a good way to tell a story it just causes so much confusion and eventually the audience will become uninterested in the story.

I don’t understand the appeal of the TR fractal.

Well since it won people like Wooden Potatoes have been working nonstop making these outrageous hypotheses of what we will see in the thaumanova reactor and trying to connect it to the Infinity Ball Personal Story in some manner. For all we know it could of been a Inquest Agent who probably had a modified Val-A Golem in their possession that knocked something over or did something to cause the reactor’s system to overload. Or perhaps even more logical a Inquest Agent was hooking up their modified version of the transatmospheric converter to the reactor to grant it more power and KABOOM. Another possibility is it has nothing to do with the personal story in any manner.

Watchknights are a bit concerning....

in Queen's Jubilee

Darkbattlemage.9612

So the objectifying and stereotyping of certain people is just fine, but criticising such portrayals is troublemaking? Yep, nothing new there, sadly, but that does not make attitudes like this any less problematic.

I see no objectifying or stereotyping in Guild Wars 2 that would offend anyone. I do however find problem with the people who react in the manner you seem to be reacting. If you or anyone truly believes there such going on in the game instead of posting on the forums, which will cause trouble because differing opinion on the internet nearly always leads to throwing insults at one another, contact Anet directly and inform them of your concern. If they feel you have a case they may very well change it to be less offensive. If not they may actually give you the reasoning behind the decision. But making a thread on a forum or even posting comments on youtube has only hurt these causes. I can’t tell you how many times I seen someone make a well thought argument on youtube, I know probably unbelievable, only to be undermined by someone who is on their side but reacts like they just escape from the asylum.

The watchknights are bloody awful and a complete disgrace. They could have been designed as icons of human culture, with symbols of the gods, or using symbology from the royal crest or whatever. Hell, they could have had touches of stylized “femininity” and still looked decent and fit to actually fight. But no. Naked metal women with detailed nipples and high heels. Lowest common denominator on the same level as trashy comic book covers.

Yet there will still be people who will find reason to complain and whine about it. I’m starting to think maybe we should ban causes from the forums since they all ultimately degrade into pointless wars where word twisting is taken to the extreme.

@Bovinity.8610: I think the day society doesn’t freak out is the day the earth was finally destroyed by a catastrophe. It seems this behavior will remain with humanity till extinction.

There is an problem with you suggestion. Dueling and gold rewards? I foresee people rigging matches for their friends which will be worse than the farming problem. One possibility is to simply disable the gold reward for this system but it probably will be neglected due to this.

And thanks to windows update blocking my view for several minutes I didn’t see others have already made this point.

Sylvari, the Lost Desciples of Mordremoth?

in Sylvari

Posted by: Darkbattlemage.9612

Darkbattlemage.9612

Except the sylvari weren’t around when the Elder dragons came last time, The races that fought the Elder dragons during the last cycle were the Dwarves, Mursaat, Seers, Jotun, and Forgotten.

At this time. Anet does have the power to retract what they said as it comes from the perspective of the humans, norn, charr, and Asura. Also It is possible the human gods weren’t present in the previous cycle either as it mention Abaddon gaining his power from an older deity.

And it’s kind of weird for a human god to make a whole new race… That just doesn’t seem right, especially considering humans themselves are aliens to Tyria, and brought to the planet from a different one via the human gods. Why abandon a race they uprooted from one place to put in another, devoted so much time to, and even inducted one into their own ranks? (Kormir).

Perhaps because they grew tired of the senseless violence the humans were engaged in. The war with the Charr began due to the Charr first being forced off their homelands by the ancient Ascalonians. The People of Kryta were at war with the Centaur over lands belonging to the Centaur. As for Kormir they really didn’t have much of a choice as Abaddon’s death would of caused untold devastation unless a mortal jumped in and absorbed the power. They chose a human since well they are the human gods of Tyria. Now if they were the Asuran Gods or Charr Gods they probably wold of picked a member of those races. Also I never said Melandru had help from the other gods in this endeavor. Perhaps she found humans unworthy of being nature’s protectors while her current protectors were too easily killed. Perhaps then she decided it was time for nature to have it own voice and made the Sylvari. Perhaps after making them she was regretful of the deed and thus placed them in the cave to be used when the world truly needed such protectors. From how it presented the Gods of Tyria are capable of making mistakes and hasty actions. Perhaps she didn’t even make them but the human gods own creator, someone had to give birth to Balzathar and his twin brother perhaps they all related.

Also, All of the human gods hated the idea of giving the humans/mortals magic. Abbadon was the only one that thought it was a good idea, and betrayed the other gods by giving the humans the Bloodstone, which the other human gods, Melandru included then banished Abbadon to the realm of chaos or whatever place that prison was,

There mention of a Jotunn who explains in the ancient past the Jotunn were highly intelligence and capable of using magic as the Gods had given it to them. They grew tired of the Jotunn and thus took back their gift of magic only to give it to the new favorite race, humans. Perhaps that was Abaddon’s original purpose he would observe a race and inform the others when he feels they ready for the gift of magic. After all agreed the gift was bestowed upon said race, if that race abused it they took it away. Abaddon found humans worthy of having the gift but didn’t bother with protocol and just handed them magic. The other gods didn’t know because they were busy with their duties until the ancient human king knelt before them and informed them of the action. This would explain how the five did nothing about Abaddon giving magic to humans initially.

I originally was certain the pale tree and Sylvari were connected to Melandru at first, but it just doesn’t work. I wish it could be true though to at least proove the human gods haven’t vanished into total obscurity just sitting back watching their beloved people die.

Could you please explain how it doesn’t work? I am curious to see the flaws in my own theory.

Personally I think Kormir has something to do with why the gods are suddenly not doing crap, and the humans have to fend for themselves. She’s the god of stealing credit if you ask me!

Perhaps Abaddon is using the power Kormir has inherited from him to manipulate her and his fellow gods into inaction? Given Abaddon’s sphere of secrets and magic I would think he had a back up plan in case the other five stopped him, especially given how many years he had to formulate this plan. Perhaps this was all part of his plan, he chose Kormir the moment she awakened the Apocrypha (as it does imply when she read from it Abaddon could influence her) to be the instrument of his revenge. Of course she’s mortal which is a nasty little obstacle but one he navigated around by ‘lending’ some of his divine power to her making her immortal. After her ascension to godhood we never hear of her again the other five are still mention but not her…until 250 years later where statues of her now stand amongst the older gods. Now I better stop before my theories break the insanity meter.

Bring on the Battle of Divinity’s Reach, Mr. Aetherblade. I smell a mission to rescue the captured Queen Jennah…and Logan totally freaking out, naturally.

Or the speech could be that humanity has finally had enough of the Arcane Council not considering the Inquest a threat and now alongside the Charr will actively hunt down these Asura. The Asura representative will of course inform her that the Arcane Council will not be pleased with this turn of events while the Norn representative will find it a boring task unworthy of a Norn. The Sylvari representative will be undecided at this time due to both the Sylvari’s teachings and the history with the Asura.

Theory Crafting About Current Events

Darkbattlemage.9612

The major contributor to this hypothesis inability to hold even jello is that the Living Story will not impact the Personal Stories, simply because it would be confusing to the new players. The dungeons someone mentioned, I think in another thread, aren’t an exception as they are intended to be done at certain levels. Once you obtain a certain level you receive a letter from someone claiming to be your herald informing you of the actions of whomever your Destiny’s Edge companion is. A Living Story however seems to permanently change world itself in some manner. Another reason is that those players who didn’t choose the Infinity Ball or whatever it called as their Asura’s first invention would feel like their choice meant nothing in the long run. We already seeing people complaining about the human focus of the Living Story, which I find their arguments agreeable but mostly I’m confused how they connect together but willing to stick with it to find out then make my final decision.

I agree to a certain extent it might be confusing to new players who miss these one time events. But I don’t agree completely. If you didn’t choose asura, let alone that specific story line, you would never have found out that the steam creatures came from you as a character either, unless you specifically got told by a friend or looked it up, which new players can do too.

Here the thing not all players will be like this but there be plenty of players who will whine about it on the forums. Look at Guild Wars 2 fellow mmo’s when one race or group is favored it starts a whole lot of grumbling. There already grumbling about this current Living Story focus on the human queen. Can you just imagine the grumbling caused if they went in this direction.
