Can someone explain the point im missing ?
Fun. You’re missing the fun & replacing it with stringent fantasy “rules” for no reason.
I’m assuming that this, like the Halloween and Winters Day events, will be available every year, the reason I say this is because in GW1 there are Terminator themed quests every year for April fools.
If you enjoy it as much as we do, than yes, it’s very likely to join the list of content that may make an appearance again the future and be expanded on. This is indeed one of our goals of developing a living world with the game!
“IF?” wha? This is like the best dungeon in the game.. PLEASE make a normal dungeon that is similar to this: lots Jumping & use of 3D space, tons of secrets, insetting ways to interact with environments, a few mobs that are fun to fight & interesting boss fights.
This is a great video someone showed me once about the difference between extrinsic and intrinsic rewards playing video games.
Author did a mistake there… In WoW your grinding not to just get the items but to get items powerful enough to overcome next challenge. What’s wrong with that?!
wait.. are you being sarcastic? like.. you really can’t see the problem of grinding for something so that you can unlock grinding for something? You can’t see what’s wrong with that concept, like you can’t grasp that?
With cosmetics I see the exact opposite of what you said. When I get a cosmetic item I am rewarded ever time I see it. I enjoy it simply being there, jsut like any piece of art. The fact that my character looks the way I want is more enjoyable than changing how high my stats are. With stats I only enjoy them when something that was IMPOSSIBLE becomes possible. And even then the reward of beating that something is only to open the gate to the next something that is impossible. There is no end to itself. With cosmetics the end is simply seeing & enjoying the art. Overcoming a challenge can also give a rewarding feeling but if it’s all based around your numbers being high enough, then you didn’t really overcome it did you? Your numbers did. It’s not much of a triumph.

No, not really.
- Story: Looks absolutely tiny, so I’m not getting my hopes up.
- New Bounties: they aren’t fun. adding more targets just makes it so we waste more time looking for them before we hit “Go”.
- Bounty Training: bounties aren’t fun anyways but I guess it’s a nice little thing for all the little guilds.
- WvW: I don’t play it.
*Leaderboards: They really should have launched with these if they wanted an e-sport, but I don’t PvP so, whatever.
I would have rather had a bunch of new armor & weapon skins, lowered the grind on the fun cosmetic stuff, made short versions of hair when where helmets…
I feel they made WAY too big a deal of F&F. It is not going to be an expansion worth of content.
There is a trinity,
It’s called:
Damage
Control
SupportROFL, oh ok. So that must be why I can AFK any boss in the game outside of fractal lvl 30+ This includes all the world bosses and guild bounties.
No, we need a trinity.
Your Hyperbole is showing.
Not too interested in the current details. As far as i’m concerned there is no way this F&F is going to be an expansion worth of content unless the 4th update is mind-numbingly huge.
Sorry, but the only actual info about # of players I’ve ever heard said the # of active players has been rising or staying stable of late.
I would also like to have a massive zone in GW2 that has no civilizations & 1 WP. In particular, I would love an honest-to-goodness forest. Thick with oak trees & shrubs, hills & rock formations. not sparsely spread out lolipops.
Hell, make it chock full, north to south, east to west with jumping puzzles, monsters you fight on the jumping puzzles, rare epic monster bosses with unique loot & a bunch of collections to earn that give unique skins & stuff.
I don’t think the drop rate of these lodestones is too low.
You can “easily” farm them in cursed shore, by killing sparks.I have most of the time 2-4 lodestones an hour, and that’s pretty nice.
I’ve farmed for 8hrs with 80-120% MF & got 1.
It’s not easy, it’s random. & the chance is low.
We’re tracking this bug, but don’t have an ETA on a fix, yet. Thank you for your continued patience!
boo.. this a really important stat..
My only gripe with this is 15 minutes feels… too short. Especially when you might have Sotzz, Prisoner 1141, or Trekksa, all of whom I understand have very long confusing paths ( or random locations, such as Sotzz). My biggest suggestion, which I have read a few times in the last few pages, is either have a longer timer, or no timer at all, preferably the latter. I only say no timer because it’ll encourage people to explore, and actually understand the maps, as opposed to flanking an npc, hoping it’s near a wip, and popping a bounty. And if another guild gets there first, well at least you have another opportunity to find it! Even doubling the time helps!
I’m not sure I understand all these people saying they couldn’t find the guys in time.. you know you can find them BEFORE you click begin, right?
Its easy for someone to miss the reward
Treks give no rewards to participants
They only give rewards once a week.
Merit boons and the other new upgrades are terrible
Agreed.. especially with the travel cost “reward”. it’s really quite silly.
My biggest gripe is that the bounties are just NOT fun. spending time looking all over the world for a regular mob, then killing it ikittenerg of dps is really quite lame. The search is not fun, interesting or challenging. The fight is mindless & pretty simple.
Finding & killing 1 of these guys seems like a 5-player event that you do on your own time to give the guild a boost. I thought these things would be huge boss fights that spawn a multi-part event that would travel across a map.
(edited by DarksunG.9537)
Agreed. The whole idea of “an expansion worth of content” is sounding really implausible at this point, especially when expansions usually have new races, classes, continents of quests & story lines, a bunch of new armor sets new features like housing or henchmen or something. Right now it sounds like most of that isn’t gonna happen.
so… What IS gonna happen?
I’m putting my vote in…
NCSoft needs to let go of this cultural bias stuff. Holding on to ancient grudges gets you nowhere. People Like Cantha the way it was. It’s a fantasy universe not real life, you need to deal with it & let go of the hate.
We want Cantha.
Arena.net, if you absolutely have to design your games to cause players to crash every single time.
I have NEVER crashed at a dragon event.
GW2, unfortunately, has some of the worst clipping & bulging armor of any MMO I’ve played. (example: the fat Norn & Charr leggings bulge unnecessarily almost a foot off their bodies. it’s AWFUL) with all the bug fixes we have had no visual fixes to the major armor issues that make Charr & Norn armor clunky, bloated & ugly looking. It’s not slight at all. it’s the most important visual aspect of the game: our characters.
Will we ever get visual fixes to armor?
Unfortunately I agree with the prediction. =(
The problem I have is that all the Living Story “content” so far could have fit into 2-3 weeks. It’s really not much of anything 2 months is stretching this stuff out like an episode of Dragonkitten.
Also, making such a big deal about it makes it WAY worse. If they just put the content in & said NOTHING, it would have been far far more effective & mysterious.
crap… yeah the culling in PvE seems worse than it ever was in WvW. Really needs to be fixed big time.
You didn’t experience culling in pve cause everyone was stuck in dungeons, now people actually want to play in the world it’s crushing the system :p
Victim of success it seems.
not at all. They reported making changes to PvE Culling which was when it started looking like crap. THEN they started making changes to the open world. the PvE culling is simply higher now than it was before.
I would be cool with GW1 style armor skins as well, but the price for them in GW2 is crazy.
In GW1 it was $10 for 2, UNLIMITED skin application for ALL characters. in GW2 it’s $8 for 1 skin, one use.
The cost discrepancy is WAY off..
If the prices are going to stay this crazy, fine make all the skins stupid like the wintersday one. but holy poop the prices are high.
If men want to have girly things they shouldn’t be penalized either
I love how people use the words penalized, punished, forced … it’s so pathetic it’s funny.
Did Howling King:
The fight is more interesting once you know how it works..
The Beam he shoots looks pretty cheese. Should really reavamp that effect. the game has such cool artsy fx.. this one just looks bad.
About Gravelings:
Knock down is relied upon too much. KD is probably the least fun mechanic for players. As soon as you take control away from a player it becomes very frustrating. It should be a last-resort mechanic.
900 Billion Gravelings:
the Dungeon needs WAY more flavor & encounter variation than: lots of Gravelings, lots of KD. The mechanics are a bit better now, but geez.. First of all, Graveling don’t look like they belong in that dungeon they are sleek black & neon, not dusty & dry. They feel swamp like. 2nd, there are WAY too many of them.. it gets visually boring really fast. & 3rd.. the boss.. is a scaled up Graveling mob.. that’s SUPER boring. Probably the most disappointing aspect of AC. Dungeon bosses should be epic & memorable. AC is neither. It’s a big, bland Graveling.
People ran AC because it was the best time/reward ratio. It’s a little more fun now.. more time required, same reward. But it’s not that “cool”. The story is bland & while the environment is well made, it’s not all that memorable or cinematic. If there were more memorable moments (there really are no “scenes” in GW2 dungeons) & a Wide variety of Graveling models & encounters it would be good. Right now I think GW2 dungeons need quite a ways to go to be beloved similar to WoW raids and the like.
…That’s stupid.
I was under the impression that you earned commendations for helping other guilds, just not the merits.
why would you get rewards for your guild when helping a different guild? That makes no sense at all.
You know what else doesn’t make sense? The cost of unlocking guild missions, especially if you’re in a guild with less than 20 people.
Why’s that? More people contributing should help. Sounds logical to me.
And for the sake of Lyssa, +use NEW SKINS AS INCENTIVES INSTEAD OF STATISTICAL INCREASES
Good, God yes. the chasing of stats blows. It’s boring to spend tons of time doing something & as a “reward” have some numbers. The difference is imperceptible. with agony it made sense but the 9 billion stat combos are not FUN. It’s min-maxing BS for people who can’t think in any terms but treadmills. We only needed a small number of Ascended garbage.
Either that or make currency exchange vendor.
I humbly submit that you +do not add any more currencies.
Again, YES. Karma was supposed to be the currency for everything so that you could play any part of the game & choose your reward. now it’s all but useless & we have 500 things to chase at extremely slow rates that are mutually exclusive. On top of that we’ll probably get a NEW one when you figure out what to do with the achievement points. It’s annoying.
…That’s stupid.
I was under the impression that you earned commendations for helping other guilds, just not the merits.
why would you get rewards for your guild when helping a different guild? That makes no sense at all.
- All dungeon gear requires 1 or 2 laurel to purchase.
lolwut… yeah & it gives you a pony. make the prices even REMOTELY realistic. You think getting an exotic piece of armor is worth 1 daily? I sure as hell wouldn’t trade my armor for a few laurels.
I just want the “pet running 20ft in front of me” & “sword roots you” fixed. My pet should be RIGHT NEXT TO ME all the time unless he’s fighting. & the 1h sword rooting & yanking me all over the place sucks.
yeah, looks pretty lame…
er, no…
where did you get that from?
The fact that if warriors can add bleeds cheaply it makes condition builds less useful.
I DESPISE that trait because it overwrites my beautiful 30 second bleeds. if there was no cap I’d love it because hey, more bleeds on the enemy.
that trait not only does hardly anything for the warrior, but it actually LOWERS my dps, remember how lupi used to attack minions summoned via our reanimator trait and cause wipes? that’s how necros feel about “bleed on crit” things used by classes that don’t stack CD
They shouldn’t, it should only add to it. If it’s true that’s a bug I can agree with you on but again, infinite stacks isn’t the answer. I lean much more heavily towards per-person stacks or some kind of dd, cd seesaw.
it can be rendered useless with two crits from a warrior with that hideous minor trait that grants you bleeds on crit
So the answer is to make that trait more powerful? nice..
So you create a scenario where hybrid builds are better than zerker builds? How is that a bad thing?
Because the whole point of this is that people are whining about “I wanna play my way & not be gimped”. Yeah, play DD not conditions, problem solved NOW. but people WANT to play conditions.
The fact that anyone thinks infinite condition stacks is even remotely balanced is laughable.
So you agree that direct damage is currently not even remotely balanced? Each condition or even a few stacks is equal to ONE direct damage attack..
Right, because it’s not like you can apply conditions & and do direct damage at the same time… oh wait.
You can have 100 warriors with direct damage builds that also happen to apply conditions & you think it’s ok to have that bonus damage just continue to rise? The Dragons are enough of a push over now, you want 300 stacks of bleed on it too?
No less balanced than a infinite number of zerkers.
So if they just equip Sup Sigil of Earth That won’t make the damage skyrocket? oh ok.. I’m sure people will really want that condition necro in their dungeon so much more.
I don’t know where this magical fantasy that condition damage isn’t done on top of direct damage comes from. Sure the cap sucks but infinite stacks isn’t the answer.

It sounds ridiculously cruel to impose something that keeps smaller guilds away from the content
“ridiculously cruel” is eating a large meal in front of someone as they die of hunger.
Having a system in a game that is accomplished quicker with more people is at worst “a bummer”. lets get some perspective.
The fact that anyone thinks infinite condition stacks is even remotely balanced is laughable.
“Play your way” is a logical fallacy if taken literally. It’s not physically possible because it requires catering to conflicting desires. Something that is lost on most of the complainers.
Are we going to get these fixed in Feb? :
- Pet does not stay by my side. it runs far enough forward to constantly aggro. It almost feels like the pet is just sorta in my vicinity but not an extension of my character.
- 1h sword is balls to control. making me constantly leap forward & root feels broken & clunky. not to mention it makes dodging broken.
If we had moderators in real life like we do in GW2, the world would be full of mutes.
omg that would be so awesome…
I don’t know how I feel about lvl 5 req, but Art of War for a PvE centric feature? HUH?
I am wondering if all the people who called us liars are feeling a bit sheepish.
Except:
1) They never denied a problem with Champion drops.
2) The only thing they denied was a purposeful lowering for drop rates
3) They only found an issue with Champions which has almost nothing to do with all the whining.
Dunno what all these babies are “vindicated” about. I guess whatever makes yall feel important.
I have very defense-oriented playstyles in games so playing a tank, aka protecting my teammate by keeping a boss’ attention on me while blocking/dodging everything, is my favorite thing to do. Guild Wars 2’s group PvE, as it stands, has no place for players like us who are more defense-oriented.
lol what? WHAT?? HAHAHAA. are you playing the same game?
I’m perfectly okay with having to work 8 times as hard as you do for eq for my 8 toons.
No you’re not. You say you are to make it sound like you’re not saying “gimme”. But then you complain about how much work it is. Yes. Effort takes time. If you were really wanting to gear up you’d have a bunch of sets from running fractals now.
The Laural Ascendeds are handouts. Free gear for those that don’t want to actually work for it in fractals. I should know, that’s how I’m getting them.
But here i’m actually prevented from earning more. No matter how hard i’d work, 8 amulets will still take at least 6 months – assuming i won’t miss even one daily/monthly on the way.
I’m sorry, you’re right.. there is a magical force preventing you from running fractals.
I may work 100x as hard as you do, but it doesn’t do me any good.
You’re not working at all.. you’re getting Ascended welfare. Now if you ran fractals 100x more than the guys who ran fractals & they gave you no reward, yes you’d be right. But you’re totally wrong.
The reward vs. effort is not there. The same patch is widely believed to be the cause, while ArenaNet denies the patch changed anything and openly called it a conspiracy.
This quote has been taken out of context & flatly MISquoted too many times to count. While it’s true the Champions guaranteed loot is bugged, Colin? said the patch added nothing to negatively effect loot. He’s just saying they didn’t purposefully lower anything.
Bugs are bugs are bugs. they will come and go, but the allegations that Anet purposely lowered drop rates IS a conspiracy theory. Personally my drop rates & that of all of my friends are exactly the same.
The only thing we can say definitively is that Champs don’t have a 100% drop rate, when we were told they should. It’s the only statement we can prove. Every MMO I’ve played has had the “omg they suddenly lowered the drop rates!” epidemic. As soon as one person suggests it, everyone jumps on the bandwagon.
(sigh). Why does everyone run to “entitlement” rather than trying to understand the point?
Because saying you are owed something is being entitled. You think that for some reason, you should get 6 times the amount of AG as other accounts.
For example, suppose I had 5 children and you have 1. No one is suggesting that I should be able to feed my 5 for the same amount that you spend to feed 1. What is being said is that limiting us to 1 meal a day makes it kittening difficult to have more children.
Wooooow… that is the worst, most inapplicable analogy you could have made. Here’s one that actually represents the facts:
You have 6 children & make $40k a year & are saying your salary is anti-children because the person with 1 child who makes $40k a year & can buy more for their kid.
If you want to buy more for your children, get another job. If you want more for alts, go run fractals more. It’s really as easy as 1+1.
Also, if you can’t work out how broken it would be to allow players to get more stuff for every alt on an account, then…..
Now is the time for the fanboi rally – Tally ho all
^ The hallmark of a post based on a poor premise. Can’t back up what you said? Can’t articulate a compelling argument? Everyone who disagrees must be a fanboy!
When you have 6 lv80’s, that means to get optimal gear on each, which involves an amulet that I can only get by laurels, it means it will take me 6 months to put an ascended amulet on each toon. It will take an extra month per amulet to buy the utility infusion for extra gold earned or MF. A third of a month for the karma one.
Holy entitlement Batman. Why in the hell should you be able to gear out 6 characters in any less time than it takes to gear out 1 character 6 times?
If it were “anti-alt” it would take you 7+ times as long to gear out 6 characters. but it doesn’t.
I swear.. people are complaining about the mathematical properties of reality now… 1 × 6 = 6. Are we gonna start complaining that gravity is unfair because we want to fly like birds?
Wait what? Monthly content makes this expansion worthy how!?? They really took full advantage of the “prelude” thing.
Hey genius, you know the “expansion worth of content” is coming in Feb & March right? No.. you didn’t.. Before you babble about what they said & did, FIND OUT what they said & did.
were they all rare lvl 80s? Btw, if you want precursors you should be using lvl 80 Exos in the MF. Getting a precursor with rares is more like generous bonus than normal luck.
wait,,,you bought….2?! holy smokes, thats conclusive right there. totally not worth it.
lol! azmodeus, stop using logic! you’re taking away their right to be whiny kittens.
It just means there’s no reason at all to go there now =D
true!
This is one of ANets many methods to get us back out into the world. Owait…
actually, it will probably help. Only other way now is to search.
