What happened to the shrine of Balthazar?

in Queen's Jubilee

DarksunG.9537

The actual shrine to Balthazar is near the Balthazar waypoint. Yes his statue used to be down there but I’m fairly certain the human god of warfare doesn’t mind having a secondary shrine replaced by an arena.

It wasn’t an oversight. There wasn’t any need for the second, smaller shrine down there.

tbh, they should have a statue of him at the HEAD of the Arena. it’s the only arena in the city, & no Balth?

Actually this election was not based on majority rules.

Anyways, I’ll laugh so hard if Kiel ends up being Scarlet.

It'll also be more realistic than the "People who make profit are evil" Kiel party line. It will at least make her character more interesting.

The Abaddon fractal would have been the first fall of Abaddon, not his ultimate demise as shown in GW:NF as most of you seem to think.

Almost no one thinks it’s about the NF fight. Also, Anet already said it would have been a pre-gw1 story, so we already know.

I disagree. Some people thought Gnashblade was set up to win. I think what this really boiled down to is hardcore vs casual players.

There is no logical way to explain the idea that Evon was “set up to win”. (unless you buy the pants-on-head conspiracy theory) Humans are ALWAYS the most popular race in games & Charr are the LEAST popular race. Evon was billed as the “bad” guy. umm.. how was he staged to win? that’s a joke.

Well, they did lie about the spontaneous dynamic world. It barely exists and they seem to be getting farther and farther away from it and relying on pug dungeons and mini games more and more.

it BEARLY exists? Are you talking about the game world with thousands of events & comparing them to the handful of things that happen in updates?

right….

I agree the game needs more TRULY dynamic content. Actual AI agents that react to the surroundings & their needs, not to scripted events. but so far most of what you said is pretty much bogus.

in Living World

DarksunG.9537

I’m really sick of mini-games as well. I don’t want more instanced PvP that has nothing to do with my character, i want MORE, NEW, PERMANENT WAYS TO INTERACT WITH THE EXISTING WORLD. things like:

  • Housing that I can build & customize
  • The ability to climb & scale Tomb Raider/Persia style. even in combat.
  • Destructible environments useable in combat
  • a personality system that allows you to speak, be diplomatic, befriend & intimidate. maybe even change your idle animation based on your personality.
  • archeology, research, treasure hunting that requires solving riddles or surveying
  • More combat mixed into jumping/maze elements & ability to knock mobs off cliffs.
  • More multi-class, high-level combos. (something that triggers group elites far more powerful than simple combos.)

The mini games are actually pretty lame content. Every time you say “swap out your skills with these & play something totally separate with this new rules” You make our characters completely pointless. The game doesn’t need more games in it, it needs more ways to interact with the main features.

Why do you automatically assume it’s a Human vs Charr thing? Maybe it’s due to the fact that Kiel is portrayed as a decent individual and a hero, while Gnashblade is portrayed as a scheming businessman only interested in the bottom line.

because most people probably don’t even know what the vote is about. just like mmo devs know that most players don’t read quests text, most players skip cutscenes & just get to the clickies. So I don’t think that’s as much a factor at race.

We know for a fact that Charr are the least popular race & we know for a fact that Humans are the most popular race. On top of that they then made one the “good guy” & one the “bad guy”. It’s very VERY skewed, but not because Anet is trying to “squeeze more money” out of us like the OP said.

Volcanic eruption versus shallow divine squabbles? Let’s be honest here, while the Elder Dragons essentially amount to a ravaging supernatural tsunami with no personality, the gods amount to prima donnas.

That’s like Saying Citizen Kane is dumb because it’s about “a stupid arrogant jerk” & Transformers is awesome because it’s about huge explosions.
“supernatural Tsunmi”? No, that’s Abaddon. Transforming entire dimension into torment, creating lifeforms & seeping into other plains of existence with cunning & manipulation.

The Dragons make zombies & smash stuff. GG.

It’s easy, there can be so many ways to play with this story, it can be an inquest plot, or asuran experiment gone wrong, chaos theory in play, the ideas is endless and way more creative compared to a defeat a god plot. Thaumanova’s giving alot of room for fun and a decent challenge, on top of an interesting plot.

All of that sounds epically boring. The “defeat a god plot” as you so blandly put it is still far more compelling & epic. Sorry, but finding out why a building half blew up is not as interesting as a battle between the most epic & important characters in the entire GW story, unless it is directly tied to the battle of the gods. the Inquest are quite boring.

Why the Abaddon Fractal is Irrelevant

in Cutthroat Politics

Posted by: DarksunG.9537

DarksunG.9537

The only important reason why the Abaddon fractal is better: GW1 lore was way more interesting than GW2.

The gods are SO much more compelling than the boring, mindless, no-personality Dragons that we have to cannon to death. The idea that “we don’t know what happened” doesn’t necessarily make the story of what happened good. So far, the GW2 stuff has been pretty lame. I’d rather have a Fractal of the single most important event in the GW1 storyline ever. (of course I wouldn’t put it past Anet to ruin the story by making the gods even LESS important & powerful than they have already retconned.)

These responses are what I see on the forums and in game all the time. You all have already convinced yourself that the thaumanova reactor fractal will suck.

While in reality, the abaddon fractal will just be a boss fight.

wow.. So you have already convinced yourself that the Abaddon fight will be a boss fight & will suck. irony?

This is true.. they kinda are gimmicky DPS. I don’t play PvP, but that sounds cool.. As for mechanics-based Pet wish in PvE: I wish they stayed NEXT to you, not 15 ft in front, only attacked enemies if you used F1 or HIT a target & the F2 skill was instant.

in Cutthroat Politics

Posted by: DarksunG.9537

DarksunG.9537

It matters, but we all pretty much know exactly what happened at the Mouth of Torment.

Nobody knows what happened at Thaumanova…yet.

Actually, I thought a lot of the detail were unknown.

Also if Thaumanova has to do with the Dragons it’s boring & meh. While I would like to know what happened there, I’d MUCH rather be a part of the epic battle of 6 gods & their armies. The Gods are WAY more compelling than Dragons. Mindless, Speechless Monsters with no personality that have no real motivation (eating magic, meh) Compared to Abaddon who plotted & schemed from the realm of torment to usurp the other gods & kill their followers through the Lich, the Titans, Shiro, the Cataclysm & Nightfall..

Unless the Dragons are a result of Dhuum & Menzies, they are some of the more boring villians in GW. I understand they were sort of meant to be sorta Lovecraft forces of nature, but you forgot the main part of what makes Lovecraft’s creatures work: Horror. There need to be totally horrify, mind-bending reality alterations if you want these things to seem interesting & dangerous. & even they they would lack the Character, History & Interaction that the gods have. I mean.. we went to Hell to fight Abaddon..

@OP

Abaddon fell 3 times.
- from the seat of the gods
- from getting resurrected by the Lich

The Lich never resurrected him. He just brought Titans in to try to destroy Tyria.
