The video doesnt really show dps – its just burst. And that’s probably not “pre-nerf” or anything. My tanky hybrid build has a “mediocre” 50-60% crit damage and can easily burst half health off your average mob quickly. The build in the video got 117% (and 77% crit chance). That should explode a mob.
At the end of the day, Mesmers are random. Pure random. Impossible to tell sustained dps, impossible to predict burst dps (NPC mobs are very, very easy compared to players which can just dodge through a shatter). Do they have lowest dps overall? Certainly not. Its just that you cant say “I click 2 every 5 seconds and do 20000 damage, so my dps is 4000”.
I believe server pops are based on the amount of accounts having it as home server, not the currently logged in population. So no need to refresh.
i have never ever seens a 60-70 man deso zerg
Its hard to get the numbers correct in the heat of battle when you are being rolled by a 30+ Deso zerg and group consist of a commander and a naked Ranger.
But hey at least Piken presence nearly tripled after that! Then the Deso zerg jumped border and we could not find them or engage them
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
My Guild This Is SPARTA [SPRT] Runs without a badge. It has been like that forever. We never promote or encourage friendlies/pugs/soloers to bandwagon on us WE DESPISE THEM.
Ah. So when you say “non sprt please follow the commander” you really mean “go away despicable filth!”.
Unfortunetly there is often only 1 commander on the map so you are basicly telling everyone to blob more
Most people with high achievement points probably exploited infinite salvage more than anything else. Basicly, you pay for the points. Just like Anet wants.
This is just outright stupid, pretty much all parts of it. In a group you play a role, your gear and your build should reflect that role. What your role is depends on your group, your position in it, and the synergy you are trying to accomplish. This blanket view that everyone needs to stack toughness/vitality and play hammer fail is just a zerglet, brain dead approach to the game that involves rushing in large numbers smashing face into keyboard and ignoring any kind of group synergy.
Synergy?
Synergy is achieved through the use of different classes performing a role better than others, not through diversity in builds.
An example would be an Elementalist popping a waterfield and 5 guardians blasting with hammer in it. I’ve never seen anyone comment that “omg we only need 4 hammer guardians, have to have a GS guardian too for synergy!”. That’s 1 less healing blast for minimal, if any, gain to the group.
But as I said this only apply to large groups. Zergs can and will have random compositions. Of course so can some large groups as well – there’s always the oddball.
It never hurt to try to train pugs to use the proper weapon for a situation and not get entire guilds killed with berserker specs because the enemy guild rallied on them.
The AoE cap is a very good thing. Without it, ranged AoE would completely dominate. Just look at the arrowcarts. Does anybody actually like them? Nobody like them. Running mobile arrowcart builds would be the new meta. Just pump AoE into everything. Its already a complete mess if you’ve seen a 50v50 engagement, but at least its an epic mess in terms of combat behaviour. Without an AoE cap it’d be pop oh everybody is dead. Great fun!
Not to mention if you think lag is bad now, the game will be unplayable without the AoE cap.
Both hammer Guardian and hammer Warrior are very, very desirable in any 10+ group (Guardian for its blast finisher/stun, Warrior for its stun). If you are a GS Guardian/Warrior in group combat you’re wasting everybodies time. Of course you can swap to that if you want to solo or do small scale.
In terms of builds you only really have to consider that you need to have 1600+ toughness/vitality for large group combat or again, you’re wasting everybodies time.

… or maybe instead of further making the GUI into a fireworks display of different colored circles that no one in their right mind can keep track of in combat… you remove all nametags from killed enemies thus cleaning up the view considerably.
You’re trying to use a nuke to kill a kittenroach.
250 badges is a superb price point.
In other words when Anet add it, it’ll cost 250 badges AND 50 laurels AND 250 ectos.
You know it.
Before you get a Legendary: “Omg its so stupid, its just a skin, it doesnt impress me at all, lulz”
After you get a Legendary: “I am pure awesome, look at all these schmucks that dont have the weapon I have, bow down before me!”
The thing with a Legendary is thakittens really quite impressive either way. Did you work your kitten off to get it, endured painfull Arah sections, farms, etc? Or did you spend $500 to buy it outright? The first thing impresses me just as much as the last thing does. I dont care who they are, but I want to be friends with the one that can throw that amount of money at a skin. It will be like “Hey buddy, can you get a QP cheese at the burger resturant, I’m a little busy now. Here’s $200, I hope its enough. Keep the change”

AM were running separate groups in AM BL, they had 2-3 guilds out and about and a blob. Same for Deso, had EXG, Coin and then me leading 30-35 as a pug group. PS had INC, Dsun. Was some fun fights
Afew other guilds out and about also.
You missed the part where Coin wiped two servers at once.
And of course, were all ripped as f***
Going around the censoring system is against forum rules.
You’re actually ripped as kitten.
I see you having fun are using zoom hack @ 5:20. I’ve downloaded, today I’ll check if is it possibly make that shots… If not, so, sorry, but will be reported, fed to the teeth
Care to detail what you are seeing? Because I just see a regular zoomed out view on a small size Asura that shifts with terrain as usual.
Obviously false information. There’s no way such an event will happen in Divinity. If it does, the patch will have to move entire Divinitys Reach to Lions Arch, then have the event in Divinitys Reach in Lions Arch.
Lions Arch is the only city that exist in Tyria which can change, everybody knows that.
When I visited the forge months ago, I got Dusk on the first try as well. That was a week or so after I had gotten Dawn on the first try. Just rares. HA!
Bah! The commandos never actually did anything anyway. They attacked the Shatterer with helicopters, remember? But they obviously failed to kill him – even a bunch of noobs dressed in poorly fitted metal plating and random pieces of cloth that look like they have been stitched together by Skritt kill Shatterer every day.
and what of the personal story? just convert too? you make it sound so easy.
But it is easy? KISS.
What of the personal story? Dont touch it!
Completing the personal story (ie murdering the poor defenseless Zhaitan) should be a pre-requisite to race change, period. No level 15 characters swapping races back and forth. Only 80’s that are fully finished. No new story missions can be done, no new loot, no new XP, no nothing.
When the race change take place, the system make cosmetic changes to the very first story “mission” listed. The one that say “I am [CharacterName]”. Change the story to say something like “I was born [NewRace] but raised by [RaceDecidedByCompletedStory]”.
Yes. Its as simple as that.
Since the EU and US has their own servers with separate rankings, its obvious that the Chinese will have as well.
I’d like to apologise for the Internal drama we’ve brought here it won’t happen again
Too late, you’re branded as forum blobbers forever. Stop blobbing the thread!
IMO its really quite simple in terms of builds: Hybrids does it best. If you go all tank, its possible but it take so long to kill them. On my bunker Guardian I have been in the awkward situation of ever-spawning mobs. If you go all berserker, its also possible but allow for zero mistakes and is more of a hit or miss deal. Tanky builds with high damage win every time.
Necro? They can hit for like 7K+ damage with autoattack, are usefull in zergs and can build some of the strongest tanks in the game.
We still dont know the details, but I wouldnt count on making a MF set now to get “equal” worth back after the change. I’d say dont bother.
Splitting the capping XP based on the amount of players should have been done from the start, but its really a seperate issue from the actual zerging. IMO nothing will break the zerg. Forcing it will only create player hate.
What you CAN do however, is to give better bonuses to the underdogs, bonuses that actually make them better (ie more HP or 10% damage increase, stuff like that). Simple: Make transparent 6×6 grids in all WvW zones. Server A (most players in a grid square) get no buffs. Server B (middle) get a minor buff. Server C (least players) get large buffs. Call it local outmanned buffs. This means that one side of the map can be “equal” with no buffs, while 10vs50 on another side of the map will give considerable buffs to the 10 – if 40 people come to reinforce them, the buff goes away of course.
I like it. But its never going to happen.
Should pads are at 6K or something, its not uncommon to see them. Only a couple of thousand in the entire world has the 9K to get the helmet.
Its quite easy to get achievement points <5K, its above that you start to run out of things to do. I have almost 7.5K and cant exactly dedicate myself to achievements anymore (like doing 10 jump puzzles – already done with them all). At best, I got like 150 points sitting in the explorer tab and a couple of slayer achievements about to tick over a tier.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
So disappointed to hear that at least one (now ex) Piken guild has jumped ship to Desolation. Fair-weather guilds are the bane of WvW.
Its always sad to see recognized guilds leave, but its not so bad and doesnt kill WvW in the slightest. Other guilds usually step up and fill the empty places – especially if they see queues getting shorter. With the tier system gone its not like it matter where on the “skill level” a server is in terms of guilds, as long as they’re having fun.
you drive a tank, thats all. don’t delude yourselves that you are skilled…
Remind me to hijack an M1 Abrams sometime. You make it sound so easy. Like, punching the driver in the in face while yelling “Dont delude yourself that you’re skilled!” and then start doing powerslides with the tank just to show how easy it is.
i think we might have a loop here…
A silly analogy get a silly reply.
Complaining that PS got Guardians is just stupid. What’s next, you’re gonna complain that our Theives can stealth (zomg!), the Elementalists and Warriors can stun (how?!?!), our Necros can AoE (super OP!!!), the Mesmers can portal (who knew!?) and lets not forget that Rangers can… eh… well I dont know, they can make a bear dance and be good at parties I guess.
Guess it depends on the build. I have always found the staff to be essential when being a zergling. I generally run defensive/reflective builds, meaning not much traits left for the power tree. Traited staff on the other hand comes “for free”. Its not the perfect weapon, but things like sidestepping in the middle of 5 static fields (ie 2) is a life saver. Sure you got teleport, but generally not on a short cooldown. Chaos armor is up every other second, that help to (not to mention being able to drop chaos storm and combo the zerg). Since I like being up close and personal, I use the sword as my weapon of choice when actually trying to kill stuff in a zerg.
I dont have a facebook account
A CPU is designed to automatically shut off your PC if it reach critical temps. If you can play, its fine. As the others said, the simplest way is to just open up the case and put a table fan against it.
Of course, you could also get a better chassi or a better CPU fan/heatsink. I currently have a Corsair waterblock in my mini ATX chassi, no problem with cooling it during 35C+ days and hot as hell in the room (I can barely breathe, urgh). Before that I had a hugeass Corsair 800D chassi with an equally hugeass Mugen 2 heatsink that barely needed a fan to cool the CPU (single fixed-and-forget 1000rpm Typhoon fan ftw). And that’s not even the most kitten stuff you can get. There much larger heatsinks with place for 3 fans, lol.
Edit: Well what do you know, hugeass isnt censored but kitten is. That’s bad, pun intended but cant be seen I found a glitch in the matrix!

A couple of highlights from yesterday, following GH (Deso border).
I really need to brush up on my large group skills, been running so much small groups lately, ugh… I cant even pop AoE correctly, it goes all over the place lol.
None?
Its not really his WvW/player experience that make a commander good. Its his ability to lead and inspire his men, which has more to do with personality than anything else.
Ultimately, we’re all in it for the fun. Even a mediocre, silent commander can be fun to follow. You can easily tell this by following commanders and simply observing the flow of battle. What does he do? What did you want to do? What did the other players do? Hindsight is fantastic, but you can also imagine what you would have done in the same situation. Did people die for nothing? Or maybe there was little choice. If players followed the commander willingly to their deaths, its a good commander
A classic thing often seen is a commander that cant predict what his own zerg does. Assaulting a keep, door is breached, but Commander By-The-Books move back, spout “stack!” in the chat and proceed to have his zerg killed off because 1/3rd went through the door, 1/3rd followed him to stack and the rest are running like confused chickens between the two. A clever commander would have realized that there’s no stopping the wave of rabid players, so stack up before the door is breached and then look for a gathering point inside (if need be).
Guild commanders of course have considerably more control, but I assume we’re talking random commanders.
Rank 1 (5 pts): Auto attacks spawn another Golem (2s cd).
What, it’ll be fun. Really.
You forgot the final story arc where our hero is bitter over not getting any worthwhile loot for saving Tyria, starts to drink and becomes violent, ending in the death of Trahearne. Fortunetly the Tyrian courts agreed with the hero that Trahearne had clearly tripped over his own clumsy feet and accidentally had his sword showed up his plant kitten .
Or you could save those 21 gold and spend less than a week at getting your character to 80. At 54 you’re through the most boring parts. All you need to do is rush south from Lions Arch and do all the story quests.
Abaddon is like a zip file – at first their groups look about your size, but then they expand to 3x as many.
Anyway, there was at least some fun moments this evening as Piken on Deso border. Might make a small movie if I can be bothered. The mexican standoff with Abaddon was hilarious, we must have been 100ish players there combined. And an epic defense against Deso in Woodhaven.
but the rest of your players were hiding on/behind the walls? leaving the lord to die, so heartless
And if people had come out and help you’d have complained that they interfered an honorable duel between the 50 guys and the Lord.
Pfff, some people are never happy.
I use the Steelseries WoW Cataclysm edition mouse.
God that feel wrong to say :p
Anyway, personally I can use any mouse with a thumb and pinky pad. G600 just wouldnt do.
If I where looking at a new mouse today, I’d look at the Logitech G500S or the Saitek RAT7. I’ve had a QPAD 5K and was not impressed. I had a Razer Deathadder as well, but the form doesnt suit me. And of course I’ve had 4 or something variants of the Logitech MX518 lol (and later a G5). kitten I go through many mice
- also; why was the lord outside of piken EB keep?
Because even our Lords prefer open field combat to cowering in a keep.
Simple: if you are killed and click a respawn point anywhere in the zone, the game first do an automatic AoE loot before actually respawning you. Note that regular rules apply, as if you pushed the key – loot outside the range is lost as usual.
ANet can code this in a second and it can only improve the experience for players. Is it going to happen? Nope.
Dxtory has a license cost though (free trial with kittenty options). Personally I’ve never even gotten it to record anything, but that’s just my experience.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Well ideally you want an expensive capture card, but you can go the free method of using MSI Afterburner (for capture) and Windows Movie Maker (for editing).
FRAPS has always sucked.
In this very case, as a roamer frustrated by getting chased all over the map by huge zergs of bad players, I honestly felt offended by the fact of seeing other smallscalers being overrun by a naked blob that would not stop chasing. Yet even teabagging.
You got it all wrong. That’s because you’re you, not because you’re a roamer. Whenever we see a Buka – especially a nasty elementalist – we get the urge hunt them down.
Take it as a compliment.
Well I wanted to give the patch some benefit of the doubt, but now I have managed to face 3 different rangers in open field solo WvW combat. All had longbows of course.
The verdict? Its as pointless to fight Rangers as it is to fight Thieves now.
Rangers already had very high mobility and the tougher builds where almost impossible kill due to rapid health regen. Now instead of seeing them fly away and regen, I simply see them stealth, re-appear 30m off in the distance and then they come back with 100% HP.
Fighting 10+ minutes and end up nowhere, great fun! Every one of those fights I wished that I had fought a Thief instead – at least a good Thief can end the pain quickly.
So congratulations ANet, you’ve managed to make the stealth even more annoying than before. Everyone want less stealthing and limitations to the entire stealth mechanic… Ranger get 1 weapon skill that gives more stealth per minute than 4 Mesmer skills combined (lets just not mention Thief).
The hunting lodge is a known RPer area. Its probably just left by a bunch of players that was dressed out as centuars.
I’ve played as a tanky warrior (~2200 toughness and over 30K HP), I’ve played as a protection generating heal spamming Guardian and I’ve played as an immortal Mesmer with 2000+ toughness.
But ssssssh… Dont tell anyone. Only berserkers do dungeons. If they realize how many of us play other builds, they’re gonna get miffed. Dont want that. Let them live in their little imaginary world where everyone ping ruby gear that they have in the ba… I mean that they of course wear all the time.
I haven’t seen a mesmer standing in the middle of the fight without moving/avoiding direct damage just because traited like a bunker. I have over 2800 armor and some times I wish I had more.
When I say “you dont need to move around so much” I dont exactly mean stand still and take it up the kitten . Mesmers have a hard time doing that in PvP regardless of spec. But you dont need to go nuts by dodging every which way just to avoid death.
And you are right about the cloning mechanics, hence why I also said you replace a phantasm. Not all of them. HOWEVER that assume that your phantasms never die – they will die every other second. If you make a phantasm bunker and dodge around alot only to find that all 3 of your illusions are now clones, its pretty bad. Easier to see when you need to replace a phantasm if there is nothing up. A bunker probably also use staff/sword/whatever, which are capable of pumping out better clones (ie those that pop combo fields).
