But in anycase. we played 3 (1 to bridge the T1-2 gap, 2 to win gold) weeks full power, time for a break. If I understood Viz long-term strategy right, this is exactly what Viz is doing when under pressure as well
You do not have to win every week till out-powered, every 2nd without out-powering is better in the long run.
@Werris: You are Vizu, aren’t you? Gold medals on millenium.org are wrong currently, Elona should have 3 (week 41, 19 & 20) not 2.
@Werris: Another thing for millenium.org: Now that you have a record of all successful attacks, you could build a “Focus and Offensive/Defensive Analyser” by just counting over the (so far) week: Who captured how often from which color and from which “natural assigment” (Jerrifers is naturally green, SM is naturally {green red blue} (counting it defensively) or none {} (counting it offensively), from this you can build a focus and other quotients for every side, e.g. Elona captured 70% Vizu and only 30% Jade or Elona was mainly defensive 70% of captured are naturally green, or Vizunah was mainly offensive vs Elona, 50% of it’s captured where naturally green.
This would end any subjective 2:1 assessment and base it on facts.

Not saying that I don’t enjoy the fights but Elona simply can’t bring the necessary manpower to the field to fight two big servers at once.
No one can bring the manpower to fight two servers. Even if you would have the manpower, the queue would hinder you to bring it on the map.
It was clear that both will focus us (alliance I don’t believe, “open bill” and tactical advantage is enough reason).
As said end of last weak (but it got moderated away as I quoted a troll): We cannot win this week, the only thing we can do is: Kill as many as possible, they come to us and bring their baggies into AC range, lets grab as many as possible.
Let your AC and F-key glow in WvW or make holiday in the southsun-glove beach, but do not frustrate yourself in the impossible attempt to win against a double-focus.
Next Friday we will have random matches and the fight for rank 1 will be a different one: Crush the other servers as efficient as possible to gain most ranking out of a match. In these Random matches the chance to get one them together with any T2 server is much higher than the chance of getting both of them again!
Let them take their 2:1 revenge this week, we will crush them again 1on1 later on.

Well thats the point of my previous post….they WILL lose THAT badly. The difference in coverage is that big.
Well they loose by score, I expect they win by rating.
And should they really loose by rating, such a matchup will less likely happen again.
They only fear to be crushed by two T2 servers (Rating-wise, not score-wise) such that JQ more lucky in match composition takes over rank 1
I like that suspense created by parallel matches much more than always and ever again the fight against the direct competitor
Do you wana watch the superbowl final-matchup repeated weakly for a year? This is the football equivalent of the current match-system of GW2.
Hoping for dev feedback on a specific question? How long in advance will we know what our matchup will be next Friday? We need a bit of time to organize which guilds will be going to each BL at reset, and a lot of that is opponent specific discussion.
Usually there is a 15min break between the matches, right?
The new matches cannot be computed before the old matches end (you need the new rating resulting from the match to compute it).

Sadly I don’t think that many people will care that they are gaining in ranking if they are being slaughtered in game.
They aren’t slaughtered in the game, they are slaughtered while they are working or sleeping well.
And why should they care what happens while they are sleeping, if their effort while playing is good enough to gain rating.
Of course to make this psychological more valid: the Score sum shown currently in the game should be replaced by the currently reached rating change!

Without constant representation the system will give erratic ratings, a server like Maguuma may lose by 300k to an SoR/JQ and comeback the following week to crush HoD by 300k.
Totally wrong. To take up your example: Currently Maguma has 327 rating points less than JQ and 377 rating points less than SoR.
This is totally unjustified and any match between them will bring that truth into light.
Should that match be really rolled (which is highly unlikely) it will end in a disaster for both SoR and JQ, Maguma will easily get +100 rating points out of the match just by reachng a NA primetime score of 230:230:230 and 0:345:350 at every other time.
The only match with a rating difference of >300 that currently exist is EU-T9 and you see the score Blacktide needs to reach against both other servers to get poor 50pts http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/12/

is anything going to be done about low population servers?
I see four possibilities:
- enforced transfers done by ANet, I do not believe this is liked by the players nor by ANet.
- reduction of WvW-Map capacity to say 50 per map and side. This will result in horrible queues on the top-servers, maybe it will lead someone moving to WvW-wise underpopulated servers, that have no queues.
- You manage to motivate your PvE/sPvP population to play more WvW.
- You abandon this World as well, if there is no one left interested in WvW, it doesn’t mater who conquers your WvW-areas.
Anyhow, there is no relation between this problem and match-making.

I think if you fight a higher server shouldn’t it also give you a change to get better rating/points not for winning of them.
Exactly THIS will happen in the new system.
You gain rating if you perform better than expected (e.g. loose less high).
You loose rating if you perform worser than expected (e.g. win less clear).
And expectation is based on rating difference.
The possible view angels reachable in window-mode are unbelievable compared to a “normal” 2560×1440 full-screen.
PS: Both Screen shoots do NOT use any external program, it is only full-screen mode vs window-mode.
PPS: I did not and will not use that in WvW, it’s lion arch to show the problem!

Such GW2 window arrangements MUST be disabled in WvW. This is gamebreaking.
Can’t you just make that, after a week of match-up, the winner goes in the higher tier, the looser drop in the lower tier, and the 2nd keep his 2nd place ? Is it that hard ? Does it need statistician from Harvard ?
I’m really disappointed.
Your proposal is still stuck in fighting your direct opponent week after week.
A liga system (and these randomized matches come closer to that, without having a first vs last match) has much more suspense. You have to prove your skill in much more variation.
And hey the suspense of “After the succesful home-run in Chicago, the New York bears need to score in Philadelphia within the next 5 min to stay ahead” has much more challenge and suspense that 52 repetitions of Chicago vs New York week after week. (No idea of US leagues, I am from EU, but I hope you got the point neverthenless)

Laughed so hard it pulled something. I pity anyone T3 or below that gets matched with Sanctum of Rall, Blackgate, OR Jade Quarry.
You will stop laughing when FA takes enough points from SoR, while TC doesn’t take enough from JQ, such that as a result of these two parallel matches JQ will move ahead of SoR and FA will have “successfully lost” as it enables them to move ahead of TC.
It will be no longer be match-win alone that determine success.
It will be no longer crushing your direct opponent.
It will be soon the suspense of parallel competition!

I am not shure where you guys take the confidence that T1 is stronger that T2.
At least in EU that confidence turned out to be completely wrong in the last 2 weeks.
3 weeks ago (week 17) everyone in the EU-ladder was very confident that
Vizunah was the unbeatable beast at the top of europe. Whereas Elona was just a poor underdog that was sitting in T2 for a total of 10 weeks and had to fight hard every week to win T2.
Finally Elona made it up, and the result is a bit surprising
(And no there was no noticable transfer of people involved.)
And also in NA ladder the last comparision (exchange) between T1 and T2 is 11 weeks ago.

^^ No! Some mistakes you made: more than a ticker of +695 is impossible and more than 700’000 total score is not possible as well and SoR and ET in the same match is (luckily for SoR!) is not possible with the new system, it’s outside the rating-range variation.
PS: Why is this luck for SoR and not for ET: SoR would loose rating like hell with such a match-outcome, whereas ET would gain rating like hell
Coverage is important for match-win, but it is not for individual fun.
Individual fun happens when you achieve something! And if you are able to liberate your third from enemy occupation, you achieved something and you can have fun with that.
And if you are in match A and your main rivalry is in match B, both of you facing dominating opponents, your success will not be to win your match, but to do better (liberate faster, hold longer) than your rivalry in the other match.
Do not forget that we have 3-sided matches!!

How strong you ever are in coverage, you cannot defend against 2 servers in primetime.
Therein lies the problem. The tier 1 servers are very good. I can’t see a tier 3 server being competitive against a tier 1.
And here is the real power of the new system!
Do you want to be on a server with hours of queue just to spawn-camp 24/7?
The variation of matches will lead to a spread out of people. Only the stagnation of matches – we had so far – enforced the concentration of people in the top servers.
So far the only way out of a match was a server-transfer. This will now change.
I like this new system. It will bring much more challenges to the high ranked servers than they currently expect.
I would like if the rating change based on the current score would be shown in B window when this change becomes active.
Reason is very simple: The matches will have a higher rating spread, and you can be the rating-winner of a match even if you are not the score-winner, e.g. currently in NA-T6 (http://mos.millenium.org/na) SF is the rating winner of the match (they loose the match, but are performing better than expected) whereas Darkheaven is the rating looser (they win the match, but less clearly as expected).
I think it would help a beaten server in an rather uneven match, if it can clearly see ingame (and not only on http://mos.millenium.org/na): “Hell, yeah, we loose, but we sell our skin on a higher price everyone expected”.

I totally agree with Mystery. And I also wish you a fast recovery from being trapped by the matchup-bug .
So how do Elona feel about being up against 2 French servers?
2 servers with twink zergs of 70+ per map: our AC-production is on a yearly high and every WvWler on Elona will have a lot of MF gear/food/… for the next week.
Will Viz/Jade ally against you?
Who knows. But both have an open bill with us, and both are quite often not able to coordinate themselves, so it will not make any difference if they ally or not.
Or will they go for each another?
Not often, I guess, when they see each others zerg, they start running.

Our main goal for next week: every Elona-WvWler will get rich during the next week.
Placement is secondary, as it will be the last match of the current match-making system. We showed Vizu 2 weeks in a row in a fair 1vs1 “who plays how”, and we did the same with jade for quite a while longer. And the nice thing on having both Jade & Vizu together: both together have 0 chance to turn that result for next week, if Elona will be place 3 end of next week, it will only be due to their double focus

You can be number 1 alot. It means you have alot of coverage. It doesn’t necessarily mean you are stable, especially if you are untested and never truly challenged. The servers that still show up in full force despite being beat down are the stable ones.

You don’t know it’s effect maybe full skilled it will do 1-hit everything within 600meter radius

This is a well established tactic in WvW, you use it when defending, you expect it when attacking. Did you never heard someone asking for the “port-timer” in WvW?
Anyhow I neither like the block by a single hit on the outer doors nor the 1/2-second port-window. I think

And for next week I ordered MF gear/food/.. for WvW and some Superior Arrow Cards (Kodash-Special) as well. Maybe it will not be so much fun, but we will be rich afterwards

This API the BEST ANet was able to do for the community and they did it!
Millenium.org (and others) can show it’s creativity, and I guess they earn money with this page. The millions of clicks the GW WvWler give them, earns them advertisement money. This way they are happy to be the best WvW site,
And the advatage for ANet is: they do not have to waste developer time in it to make it nicer. They can focus on the core.

With the recent spiral of WvW, the changes to AC and the inclusion of traps currently (that are quite easy to exploit) do you really think more of this back office discussion is a good idea for world vs world or do you think Arenanet should actually open up a little so us, the players, can tear apart their idea before they introduce more problems that they didn’t foresee?
A test server/match where the players can test things for a week before they are distributed to all worlds, yes, I would see much sense in this. ANet can find out if things develop as expected, before everyone get’s confronted with the change.
A pre-discussion without tests, look at all the reactions of pre-anouncements and you know the answer …
Maybe you should get a discussion going on these very forums regarding the changes you are going to implement soon rather than bull-rush it out without anyone the wiser, especially on the change that seems to be coming to the ranking system, its quite drastic.
I must admit don’t think this has a sense, whatever you propose on the forum you get some supporting it and several flaming it. And ranking was discussed a lot by players during the last 3 month. Everyone with an opinion should have found more than one opportunity to say something about it
