Hello Daze, thank you for posting your build
anyway i have to disagree with you 1600 toughness is enough for 1vs1 up to 5vs5 and actually there is a good 85% chance to win against someone in 1vs1 ^^ just look at my guide on how to kill each class/build and i want to underline that those statements are from my direct experience so i tried every match above reported and i win them with the above reported tactics ^^ more than 1 times per build and more than 1 times per player in competitive pvp, wvw, tpvp and fights with firends (the best to define a tactic and watch if it works).

Also comparing mine to your build i’d say that you get 150 (about -4%damage) more toughness and 100 vitality wich isn’t soo good as you may think. Otwerwhise you lost about 75 power, -25% damage multiplier, 2 trait wasted for a low cd on 1skill (survival) and on 2skill (signets with a soo huge cd while you must end the fight when activated).
Also entangle is really easy to avoid/remove and can be used only situationaly and lower capacity to remove conditions (-60% cond duration compared to mine).

You are quite right about everything. In fact, I pointed out that it is a guild build and not a duel one, in other words for 20vs20 combat or more. All the CD reducing traits, if useless in solo roaming, are important in a support context as I have to provide my fire field, entangle, barrage and muddy terrain as many times as I can during combat (some skirmich can last several minutes) and the longer I survive the longer I provide them.
Clearly your build is more adapted to a roaming context.

From my own experience I’ve never managed to immobilize a stealthed player with Entangle, never ever.
I’m not saying it can’t be done but just that I tried plenty of times and never made it.

Eheh same here, no more sistematic 3-2. For the rest I totally agree.
The problem however is always the same: comparing the same build or skill in PvE, WvW and PvP has no sense at all. If I were a PvE player I wouldn’t be so happy but since I only do WvW having this new ability is a total blast.

All that said, and though i won’t refrain from using it, i find it sad that there’s one more stealth in this game. It’s a rather poor mechanic imho, and there wasn’t a need for yet another class having it as a tool to frustrate the other players…

Com’on, it’s only 3sec, it’s not like we gained a perma-stealth like some thieves have. I personally love this new ability, it’s adding a whole new perspective to the profession.

It also depends how you want to play: roaming alone? roaming with 4/5 other people? Support role (heal) in a guild (20+ people)? CC role (entangle/traps) in a guild? Or maybe you prefer a more DPS oriented thing, maybe also more melee than ranged…
Those choices determine the build you will run with.

Yesterday was the second WvW primetime I had the opportunity to play with our new stealth ability and I can frankly say that it is a kitten benediction, not only that, it’s also a great deal of fun. HOWEVER, I agree with the fact that it is almost useless in PvE (indeed I don’t even use it when I do my dailies).

Actually traps don’t JUST deal condition damage, it actually counts the initial damage a trap does as a mimic of you ‘hitting’ the target. This is why omnomberry was so powerful for high crit chance trap builds back before it was nerfed because omnonberry would heal from the crits generated from the initial trap damage. So in this respect of it breaking stealth, it’s not broken as it is basically an attack. I see what you mean though, since we aren’t physically , ourselves, doing the damage it shouldn’t break stealth and I agree.

As said in the previous post, most traps do not deal direct damage but only conditions.

I only made two dungeon instances since I play the game (Molten Facility and Sorrow Embrace story mode) and I was one who died the less. I even managed to revive everyone at the final boss of Molten. Ah, and I have a polar bear and LB.
Maybe I was lucky but I really think that people who kick you from party without even trying to know how you could perform are jerk.

Are you trolling? You perfectly know (and if you don’t your server mates will confirm it) that your score comes from night pvdoor.

Just popping in to clarify the above image(s) was taken at probably between 23:00-23:30 BST, when JS had left the map, when 90% of Piken had left the map, and when that tower was the only thing that we didn’t have on the map, and it is thus an invalid representation of our playing style. Both guilds converged on it to cap it, and we logged after that was flipped.

Since the rest of the post is irony akittens best, I’ll choose to ignore it.

Keep the tears flowing, see you on the field.

You really had to send your whole forces in that single point? For an simple unguarded tower? With like 40 Pikeners still in the whole map?
I mean, with the group we can’t see in the screen there will be more or less 70 BB in the same spot, a bit excessive isn’t it?

Personally, I wonder when people will have enough of blobbing.
The fact that so much people still have fun playing this way even after all this time really amazes me. I could maybe understand if there was a point in winning the match-up but there’s not even that, especially with this new match-up system. So is it for useless WXP, for almost useless Karma, for loot? What is unquestionable however is that it is not for fun…
We all know that WvW and its maps are designed in a way that unfortunately makes blob play style the most effective since it only takes 20 seconds to travel between on objective to the other (less with waypoints), no need to debate it for the nth time, but come on… How much more time do we want to go on in this way? One, two other years? Until the game die maybe?
When you have fights that go from 1v1 to 30v30, you can lose or win but at the end you always have a blast because your skills (and those of your group) come into play in the fight and not numbers.
When however, you and your barely 20 to 30 guys come across a thing like what’s on my screenshots (and there was another 30+ just crossing the gate at that very moment) it is just plain and simple boring (apart from being laggy). We knew we didn’t stand a single chance when we entered the keep but nevertheless we did what we had to do.
Personally, I still play because I enjoy to share these evening moments with my guild guys but without that I would’ve already quitted, like many already did. Anyway, this post is not a complaint or a QQ (since blobs exist [due to force majeure] even on Piken) and I know it won’t change a kitten thing but I wanted to let you guys know that you’re definitely dooming the game if it’s not already doomed.

Imho AR- BB- PS was the best gvg match up . Sfr is a blob server

I agree with that! Even if the opponents where always the same the machup was balanced and finished with almost the same amount of points. Every guilds knew each others and gvg were great. I had more fun then.

There would be a way, not to change the matchup outcome, but to maximize the fun for every parties involved:
To avoid making blobs. Simple, if you see that a group has already more than 20 people then instead of joining it just make your own group making a call on the map chat.
No zerg = more skill and strategies involved = more fun for everyone.
On Piken there are still zergs, it’s true, but the trend goes towards guild/small group play style and we saw that when the three servers have about the same coverage and play style wvw takes a whole new dimension.
So I make a call to everyone (Piken included):
Avoid the kitten brainless zergs. Remember, we play for fun not for kittening WXP.

I was chasing people down all month (may) using rune of speed! I play 2-4 hours of wvw every day on Jade Quarry. Don’t tell me I don’t know that zergs stop and blast powerful fields just for the swiftness. Zergs snail tail all the time because of slow pokes. Not everyone is running a 25% speed signet or swiftness yet OP writes, and I quote, “I can’t chase ANYONE down anymore”. You are so wrong I’m almost at a loss of words. I think you guys are just haters. You must like to bellyache.

They play rangers. They are masochists.

Yeah that’s a bit part of being a ranger, those who aren’t rerolled ages ago.
Anyway I’ve just salvaged my two sb, I will get a sword and a torch. At least I will be able to provide more fire combo field to my group in wvw.

True, if you choose to go with Entangle instead of RaO elite the only other choice you have to get stability is the treated signet. I’ve always thought this is one of the most limiting thing of our profession and we all know stability is not an option in wvw.

yes, I though these changes were here to offer us more build versatility, at least that’s what they said.
I must be honest, at first I was more preoccupied by the pet nerf more than the sb range one, I though it was not a big deal since I use it essentially at close range but yesterday when I was in wvw I counted the number of times I used it to hit a foe that won’t be in range anymore after the patch and there’s a lot (a typical example is when a dude is running away).
I never ever whined on the forum for the nerf we got, even for the “glitch animation” one but this one will definitely force me to change the way I like to play my ranger and this is not what I call having more versatility.
To be honest I really wonder what’s the point of using the shortbow now. If only they would have made it inflict bleed even when you’re in front of foes it’d been a different story.
Well, we will see Tuesday how we can handle this.

It’s Ok for me as I usually use my sb at short range, it is my kind of melee weapon. Actually, this change will be more a buff than a nerd for the use I made of it (+14% damage on 3 skills).
However, I’m more concerned about the drastic pet DPS reduction.

I think https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/wvw/match_details.json needs to include timestamps to show the last time ownership changed (or to show when the current ownership took effect).

Totally need this. I’m a frontend web dev, so to my understanding the only way to do this current is to purchase a web server that can run a backend script every second and record when changes occur.

So, please please add this!!!

That’s how the MOS Millenium website is able to constantly show the various timers.
You can’t do that without a webserver so mobile apps can’t currently show those data when they are initialized.

Hello,

I would like make my app (GW2 WvW) available to Windows Phone 7 devices as well as Windows Phone 8 one (no problem with these) but I can’t since there’s is an issue with the security certificate of guildwars2.com thus not giving access to the API.

As a ranger there’s nothing more annoying to have our pet engaged thus making you enter in combat mode. If you’ll say the usual “just put it in passive mode” I will just answer you “when we’ll have a shortkey to do that”.
