My guild has just disbanded its GW2 branch… Sad days but almost everybody left so I can understand such a decision.
What a shame if you think about it, WvW could have been so much awesome if a bit more effort had been put into it and if the community had been listened.
It’s a waste of an awesome combat system in my opinion, too bad, now it’s over.

Wow! For once I’m not the only one to have an issue. The strange thing is that I’ve played the game from release without problem and this behavior suddenly shown two weeks ago, without any hardware modification.
P.S. I have a Logitech G700, drivers updated.
Edit: Problem seems solved by one or more of these things (played a whole evening in WvW without issue):
-DPI trick on the client shortcut
-Disabled selection on right click in GW options
-Rotation speed to center in GW options
-In Logitech Setpoint set the refresh rate to 500 instead of 1000 and disabled the “cursor controlled by OS check”

Just accept GW2 isn’t what many people wanted it to be, and the developers have no interest in turning it into something else than what it is.
They are clearly focusing all attention on the casual-story element, and the WvW/PvP modes were just put in to generate game-sales. They are not part of the core game.
Hardcore / semi-hardcore wvw/pvp player? Arenanet would like it if you stuck around, but they’re not actually bothered enough to make an effort to keep you. You are not their target market.
You might as well ask for serious PvP-content in Farmville. That’s not what the game is for, so why would the developers put time into it?
No more, no less. We all wanted some kind of game, ANet wanted a totally different one, ANet won the battle, that’s all.
I respect their vision of the game and since it’s not mine I uninstalled it months ago. Guild Wars 2 is definitely a good game, I add a lot of fun (and rage) playing it but it could have been better, ten times better. What a pity.

Well, I may be mistaken but from what I’ve seen so far it has just done the exact opposite.
Actually, if I’m not mistaken, you can even transfer ascended trinkets (rings, amulets, backpack) on heavy and light professions since they are common. Can you confirm?

One of our best update ever. Finally, like every other profession, our special ability will trigger as soon as we press its corresponding key.
It will remove “imobility” thus the effect of entangle.
Well, I’ve just read they will be account bound starting from tomorrow. Those are good news.
And not only that but every group in a 15v15+ fight now have what I call the “squadrons of death”, basically 3-4 thieves/mesmers that have the main job to kill every “range” professions.
So, months ago you could run around a fight and harass the enemy at range but now, you’re immediately focused and you spend you time trying to stay alive.
Against an elite guild you’re just basically useless if not already dead, that’s why GvG doesn’t want us anymore, even our famous water field has become dispensable.
Every profession have improved but we stayed at case 1, people who are saying it’s a “learn to play” issue are just fooling themselves. Being able to man decently a ranger is not rocket science. The true is we are just plain ineffective [in WvW at least] compared to other profession, like it or not.
Don’t even mention the condi-bunker build, not only it is boring as hell to play but to be a bunker I’d have chosen a warrior or a guardian, not a ranger that’s for sure.
I wish ANet would allow to transfer our ascended/legendary stuff on another profession.
I can’t be part of my guilds GvG because I play a ranger. I can do WvW with them because I’m very good with my ranger and use my healing spring in the middle of the battle on the commander when called for.

I’m the only ranger in my guild, that says it all.
I think that the profession will improve a lot when we will (finally!) be able to use our F2 ability whenever we want.
Last time I was engaged by a thief after a gvg fight and all my defensive/evade skills were in cooldown. I only had my wolf fear available, I pressed the F2 like a hundred times and it never kicked off. The thief ended killing me peacefully. I really hope this patch will change our life.
2 possibilities here, the OP is either trolling or he has never tried to play a ranger.

I rerolled a War too, I’m still level 40 but the damage it does is already impressive, I can only imagine what it will be at level 80 with exo weapons and armor.
Same here, no daily chest in WvW, happened about two hours ago.
It’s no more an occasional lag issue, now it is just plain unplayable.
Faithful ranger from day one I’ve decided to reroll a warrior as my guild doesn’t even have slots dedicated to rangers for party formation in wvw. I’ll play my ranger for guild missions and pve fun for now on.
I’m now convinced the major flaws and handicaps of this profession will never be fixed, wiser people understood this long ago.
1: Siege warfare is far too underdeveloped.
2: Professions must be more balanced (es. ranger usefulness vs other profs. and its broken pet mechanics in wvw).
3: Zerging effectiveness must be limited.
Yeah this is rather deluding.The brown bear skill is a nerf or a buff, what did it do before?
one thing i don’t understand…why did they go 30,50,60? why not just 20,40,60? My ocd is kicking in big time on this lol
It’s now a logarithmic curve instead of a linear one. In other words the first buffs grant more points.

Commanding pugs in not an easy task and that must be appreciated, for this reason I’m against this idea.
The only thing that kitten me off is when they actually don’t command, in other word when they move around without giving any order in chat (I don’t even talk about using TS, thing that would be mandatory on our server).
As soon as a commander is doing his best it’s OK for me, every commander was once inexperienced and even the best ones sometimes make the wrong choices and loose battles.

Yeah, the is one of the few reasons that make me happy to be born in 1980. Gaming was a whole different experience then… Nostalgia inside…
As a WvW player, I consider that (possible) change more a buff than a nerf.
Atherakhia, I agree and this is the main problem actually: Pet mechanics were absolutely not thought in a WvW situation.
To tell the true, to be on pair with the other professions the pet should simply not die at all (appart from working correctly).
A guardian special abilities are dying? No, they go on cooldown like our pets’.
A guardian lose some of his damage power in some situation? No, it’s always the same.
I took the guardian but I could have taken every other professions, we are the only ones that have our F2 and damage that are dying… And since in WvW it dies after 3 seconds at best this makes it totally unfair.

Mmmm I’m not sure targeting has something to do with the issue. For example, try the wolf (the worst in that reguard imo) which has an area skill so it targets nothing specifically or even the bears that have area skills too.
However, it’s important to specify that it is in WvW, in PvE all those skills work far better even if not perfect.
I think that it doesn’t make much sense since unless you keep it passive there’s a lot of chance your pet will be far away from you so basically there’s few chance he’d need to dodge when you need to and reciprocally.
It would be awesome to have some kind of evolution for the pet as well, major versality and role but I think they should first fix the current issues with it first, F2 key unresponsiveness is one example.

Yes sorry, I obviously meant Signet. It is not so wasted since it is traited (I run a signet build) and I use it for invulnerability when things are going bad, it saved my life many times plus it gives me that extra toughness allowing me to invest in other things.

I’m not an expert in game client-server communication but the lag generated is probably due to all the calculation that must be done to process the use of skills (damage, buff etc.) on every involved players.
The server CPU simply doesn’t have enough calculation power to process everything so a queue is created (I guess there will be some kind of priority involved here that’s why skill 1 usually works longer).
The possible data sent to clients to inform them to show effects is just a result of these calculations. If your skill is not cast you see no effect.
In conclusion, the game could have effects of a 8 bit console, it wouldn’t change anything to the issue.
I used to run polar bear and wolf but I recently opted for double bear: black bear and brown bear. Since I have the Sigil of Stone they become mega tanky and it let me enough time to use their special abilities (after having pressed like 100 times the F2 key while I fight).
Not only that, since they don’t contribute in any way to the damage I keep them passive so they stay with me, prolonging further their life expectancy.
So, I use them for to inflict aoe conditions and to clean conditions on me and my group. I currently don’t see any other way to use them in WvW (And I only do WvW).
It’s not a coincidence that hardcore guilds have zero or maybe one ranger in their lines, if it’s untrue that we are useless we are however not a good source of damage, at least in the current state of the class.
If I could give you one advice, for WvW go for fire, for PvP however go for air. Air actually does a bit more damage but it’s not AoE. In any case both are good sigils for LB.

Hi, I just tried to swap Entangle for Spirit of Nature in WvW and I have two question:
-Question 1: Since it only has an influence on allies I couldn’t personally estimate its impact but the strange thing I noted when I clicked on nearby allies is that they did not have icon of any type indicating a buff (like for example the ones you get from a guardian) so, can you confirm this elite skill actually works ? If so, what is it radius of effect (it is not indicated in the tooltip nor on the wiki)?
-Question 2: Sometimes it is semi-transparent and sometimes it is plain, is there a reason for that?
They would’t say anything even if account bound. It barely gives an estimation of the time you spend in WvW, nothing more.
I pray PS will go down some tiers next week, was an awful matchup IMHO.

All PvE players will then come to farm in WvW, people that don’t give a kitten about objectives, combat or team strategies. Queues will become exponentially longer. Zergs will be everywhere. WvW, which is already a total mess will become a total absurdity but you guys are all right… In the end we will all be happy because we will have our ascended weapon to brag about, all together right in the middle of a complete nonsense. Yes ANet, we want more shinies!
Hahaha someone from vizunah told me they are often fighting 2x their no. ! So someone from ANET can check the CULING from vizunah server , i think its not fixed !
Hehe, if they say so we can upload few videos showing how a group of 20-25 is wiping 60+ of them. Not saying it’s a big challange but maybe someone need to show Vizunah a gameplay of their opponents and the red OCEAN they create everytime?
It’s not a big achievement to take 100 people and roll over guild raids. There is only [Meta] guild running alone, it’s still cool to see that at least one guild can play on your server, as I said before big props to you guys. It’s not like I’m complaining about this week, it’s a great farming. Just trying to understand your mentality!
