Legendaries: An Alternative Idea

Deadcell.9052

This has all been debated a million times since launch and I 100% agree with you, but seems ANet is happy with the whole only people who have good RNG and like to grind gold should be able to get a legendary. Its sad it really is, I personally hate the current system and won’t take part in it, when obtaining a Legendary becomes about actual display of skill and ones achievements I will be more than happy to accept the challenge, till then, No Thanks!

Final tally for me:

416 chest

2-Shortbows
1-Shield

0.721 Drop rate! That might be just as bad if not worse than a precursor drop rate!

Oh well, when they release the next part I will only play it for the achievement and to buy the few skins I like and thats it, not worth it anymore. Nothing like taking a good thing and ruining it with a crappy RNG system.

Thanks Anet for the mesmer nerf bat, again.

Got to love the massive over reaction in this thread. Mesmers are still one of the most powerful and versatile classes in the game, they do everything well. I assure you all your glamour builds will still work great in WvW and you will continue to get 100’s of badges a night.

Now in my opinion confusion was not overpowered what so ever in 1v1 play, you get confusion on you just do nothing and wait it out, but this game is not based on 1v1, its balanced around group settings and in groups with damage and aoe’s flying around everywhere doing nothing does not work, you will die. At least with the damage reduction players can defend themselves more efficiently in group settings. Overall the build will still be strong, it will have little to no effect on the good mesmers.

In my opinion due to the excessive zerging WvW is to fast paced and needs to be slowed down a bit, a higher priority needs to be placed on defending and making all the objectives harder to capture. Don’t get me wrong I am not against the big zerg battles, there is nothing more epic than 3 servers 300+ battling it out over a major capture point, but it should not be happening at every point of the map ALL the time, rounding up your forces should be used in a very tactically manner, right now zerg blobbing has little to no risk with maximum rewards and incentives. Also nothing bores me to death more than trading towers, "ok we took “x” tower, lets all leave and have green server have a turn taking it and we will take it back again in 20min". This has discouraged many I know from participating as much, to few options left in WvW playstyle now outside of the zerg.

  • I believe the easiest fix for all this ^ is just to make defending “x” objective with “x” amount of players rewards your server PPT, no defenders no points, I see no reason why anyone should be rewarded for abandoning an objective. This would accomplish spreading the players around and the add a risk factor for the mass zerging, you need more players to take an important objective you may have to pull troops from other objectives sacrificing PPT for a while to do so. Also gives small groups and guilds a place in WvW to contribute to the cause and have an impact.

*As far as the current maps go I think they are a pretty good size, would just like to see a better variety of map types, with different terrains, choke points, objectives, etc. If they rotate the map positioning like it was mentioned in an other thread balance would not be much of an issue.

*Queue times like many have said moving to a lower tier solves that issue.

*The Ranks thing was just mediocre fluff content IMO, I actually would have like to seen ANet take a better approach, maybe something along the lines of higher ranks allow you to purchase more unique skins so one can distinguish themselves by more than just a couple different letters above their heads.

Overall I don’t think WvW is failing “YET”, but it is definitely getting stale quickly, I believe ANet should make WvW more of a priority, its basically player driven content and as long as it has a solid unique foundation it will not need as much updating in the long run.

If it wasn’t for this thread I would have never known that skins drop from the chest. I run SAB a minimum of 5x a day since it launched, days when I have a little more time I run all 8 of my characters. So yeah minimum of 15 chest per day since launch, i am sure I am well over the 300 chest mark with not a single skin drop. Nothing like ruining a good thing by attaching a crappy rng system to it.

I overall still enjoy WvW they just need to figure out a way to tone down the zerging, don’t get me wrong I still love being part of that 3 server 250 player mega battle, I just do not enjoy them as much anymore due to it happening every where ALL THE TIME!!! But it will all get better over time as they add more stuff.

I pretty much only do spvp for fun for a few hours here and there. I mostly stick to the hot joins so I can play around with different classes, builds, etc and find the hot hoin community to be a lot more fun to be around than the tpvp. Hot join is just so unpredictable, if you get bummed that someone 1 upped you for the kill you can just throw the objectives out the window and hunt him down for a rematch, sometimes it even turns into a mini blob war! The few times I dabbled in tpvp it was just littered with whining, qqing and rage, was a very cranky group of peeps lol.

why do people forget about dungeons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Deadcell.9052

Deadcell.9052

I personally found the dungeons in this game to be very boring and more annoying than fun, so I don’t do them anymore. With the exception of Fotm, the boss mechanics in every dungeon are pretty much the same boring scripts, time your dodges appropriately to avoid the stun stun stun one shot dead, or sit there for 20min dps’ing in hopes the boss with a unnecessarily large health pool dies before your dailys reset. In many of the dungeons here the trash mobs are more annoying and tougher than most of the bosses, I just don’t get that lol.

The other issue I have, well its an issue with the game overall is the rng for loot in this game is really really bad, can’t count the amount of times we have carried players through a dungeon path just to watch them dead on the floor most of the run, they don’t even know they have a dodge or heal and at the end chest they get exotics and precursors while we are lucky to get a green. So thats another big reason I found dungeons not to be worth my time, I go in to get the tokens to buy a gear set or runes for one of my characters and never play them again till I need another gear set.

Now I don’t want to come off like dungeons are terrible here in GW2, they have a TON of potential to be great. The overall enviornments of all the dungeons is pretty cool and visually impressive, the stories behind each and everyone is pretty cool also, sadly many of the story modes are more interesting and have more of an epic feel than the explorable paths that follow. One of the things I do like about the dungeons here is that it does not rely on the trinity, if you have enough players on in guild round them up and play!

I have the highest hopes for this every week, for BG and SoR to focus JQ down so they do not have a 30k point lead by the end of sunday night, but every week both servers fail. They both preach how they are in it to win it yet all they do is focus each other and let JQ run away with it week after week. BG focus’s on JQ, SoR rushes to take all BG’s stuff, SoR focus’s JQ, BG rushes in taking their stuff, all while JQ’s tower’s and keeps remain untouched and a perfect split down the middle of the map of green and red or green and blue, IT’S ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Wake up peeps!!!!! You cannot win without primarily focusing on JQ, you will forever be 2nd or 3rd, if each week was an actual 3 way battle there would only be a few couple thousand point gap come friday where any server can just take it. But no! Here in T1 its a 2 server battle for 2nd place with JQ able to roam freely with little to no opposition.

My suggestion of solving the WvW zerg problem

in Suggestions

Posted by: Deadcell.9052

Deadcell.9052

Just make it where you need “x” amount of players defending an objective to earn PPT, no defenders you get no PPT for the objectives you have captured, you still get to keep the objective just do not earn PPT for it if undefended. So if your gonna zerg around in massive blobs you are free to do so, but if you do not leave a portion of your zerg ball behind to defend each and every objective you take you won’t be able to compete in the point game. Also allows those zergballs to be used in a more strategic manner.

Quick, simple, ez fix!

Confusion

in WvW

Posted by: Deadcell.9052

Deadcell.9052

As a Necro I have to laugh at this thread. Most Conditionmancers soon find that there’s so much condition removal in WvW that they switch to a different build. Now that Epidemic has been LoS nerfed, there’s even less Conditionmancers out there.

I play conditionmancer and feel more powerful than ever in WvW. Mesmers are not much of a prob for me Ill sit there and wait till they stack 10x confusion on me than throw it back in there faces and LOL as they kill themselves.

But I can see how players could have a hard time with confusion, I think simply allowing one to dodge and heal themselves without taking damage should be allowed, right now unless one specializes in condition removal and or transferring there is not much of a counter to it, only true counter is to sit there and do nothing.

Zergs and AoE: analysis & suggestions

in Suggestions

Posted by: Deadcell.9052

Deadcell.9052

Simple solution is to only reward PPT for actually defending the objectives you have captured, you get the initial points for the capture but will receive no additional points unless you have “x” amount of defenders in that objective. Why should you get PPT for something you abandon? This would help spread the crowd around more and add a little risk vs reward for zerging, feel free to zerg around in a blob but you may have to sacrifice a portion of your blob to stay on the scoreboard.

As far as AoE cap for players, keep it the way it is, zergs already have a massive advantage in that area removing the cap would make them even more of a wrecking ball. This is a problem that could be solved using siege, lift the AoE cap on siege, double the damage to players and add more siege type elements into the game like sink holes, tripwires, etc that could be built to help slow opponents down when placed appropriately.

Also get rid of all swords, orange and white, you should have eyes on your captured objectives at all times.

And get rid of WP’s, ma kitten mall enough to group/regroup up to get to that area of the map that might be in trouble.

Precursor Drops?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Deadcell.9052

The number 1 thing you can do when searching for a pre-cursor is :

Do not search for a precursor!

If you enjoy and like this game at all you will not put yourself through this torture lol. Just play the game, do some dungeons, WvW, dragon events, DE’s, dabble with the mystic toilet if your bored and have couple gold to spare and just have fun with it. The RNG in this game is brutal and unfair, searching will only make you hate the game.

Improve WvW: Dissuade the Zerg Mentality

in WvW

Deadcell.9052

Wouldn’t it be easier to adjust how the PPT calculates for defending? Say your megazerg blob attacks a tower, in a minute or so you easily capture it and everyone in your blob abandons and moves on to the next objective, your server would get “x” amount of points initially for the capture. Now being the tower was abandoned you will not earn any additional PPT unless it is defended by "x"amount of players.

Now on to defending, get rid of the cost associated with upgrading and have it be determined by defensive presence, if you have “x” of players defending the upgrades can be completed in the same amount of time as they are now as long as supply continues to come to objectives.

Also get rid of any and all swords, you should eyes on everything you capture.

Would allow the big zergs to zerg around zerging and the smaller groups/ guilds to take care of defending, upgrading and all those little things and helps a server win, and most importantly it spreads the crowd around and those massive player blobs need to be used in a more strategic manner.

Stop mass zerging everything like a bunch of mindless apes and defend your stuff and you won’t have to worry about any of your stuffs becoming contested.

You have no idea what you’re talking about do you?
If one person can get close enough to a gate to attack it they can contest it themselves, turning off the waypoint for 3 minutes.
Someone with stealth, a bunker build, or doesn’t care if they die can easily accomplish this on any keep or SMC.

Ok so whats the problem with that? With culling now gone and you can see players coming from miles away, if your not keeping an eye on your gates its your own fault if your stuff gets contested. Its also a valid tactic, if you know another server has the majority of its players on one side of the map and no one is defending thier keeps with waypoint’s, hit the door, contest the waypoint, and now you have a ton of time to take a bunch of towers/camps etc.

I don’t think anyone is disputing that contesting a WP is a valid tactic. What is in dispute here is whether or not doing so is entirely too easy.

It is easy, laughably easy, BUT what part of WvW isn’t stupid easy these days? You can just zerg anything and everything down in seconds, but that is a topic for another day.

What did you guys expect? The entire WvW experience is centered around mass zerging, 60-80 man zergs are the norm now, especially in T1. All incentives, rewards, strategies, and tactics are solely centered around zerging, the bigger the zerg = more profit!

I personally do not see a fix for the the current ability/ lag delays unless they change the way WvW is played, they need to get the players spread around the map instead of clumped in 1 big megazergball, they accomplish that and the game’s performance will increase a ton.

Any updates from ANet on the bolded part?

in WvW

Posted by: Deadcell.9052

Deadcell.9052

I don’t mind zerging as long as it is used in a strategic tactical manner, but to our misfortune the game ONLY rewards and gives incentives for zerging, the bigger the zerg the more profit and rewards. They need to get players spread around the map not clumped up, once they figure this out they would’nt be as much if any ability delays and or lag. Don’t get me wrong in T1 right now watching 80v80v80 collide is a very impressive sight, mass zerg battles were a blast for the first day or 2 after patch, now its boring and annoying, WvW is in desperate need of strategy and tactics brought in not mindless zerg blobs.

Easy fix to reduce WvW zerginess

in Suggestions

Posted by: Deadcell.9052

Deadcell.9052

There is nothing wrong with zerging or even mass zerging, its a great tactic when used in a timely strategic manner. Problem is the entire Wv3 experience now revolves around it, its hands down the most effective and efficient strategy which is incredibly boring IMO.

The only solution I see is ANet needs to embrace it and balance the objectives accordingly. What’s needed is to slow the zergs down so objectives cannot be taken so quickly, give time for response teams to show up and counter when they are alerted. Significantly buff up all the objectives so they are much harder to take over making siege weapons almost mandatory, increase the supply needed to build these weapons so members of these huge zergs must contribute to the cause instead of just mindlessly spamming 1 and freeloading all the xp and karma. And also make defending an objective a necessity, if you abandon and leave no defenders the objective will basically rot away making it a breeze for even the smallest groups to take over, but also give incentives to defending by offering player buffs for all of those on the maps, quick example: own 3 towers with at least 5 defenders in each triggers a buff which increases supply by 10 and siege build time by x %, Make it worth spreading people out so those zergs can be better used in a strategic manner.

Way too much animosity around these parts so remember:

- tier 1 means nothing but a number ranking, what is important is you having fun
- nobody really cares about you or your server’s kitten
- don’t be like the guy in the wow south park episode. If you look at yourself right now and you are that guy…go outside

If you are upset about something an anonymous person said or did in game or on the forums then your life priorities need to be looked at. Remember that in 6 months you will probably be doing something else and maybe playing a different game and all the time you are wasting now arguing on the forums could be used better.

What I would like to see changed:
-Decreased movement speed when stealthed.
-Longer stealth CD times and/or shorter stealth duration times and/or longer revealed buff.
-A skill that can detect stealthed players, and give revealed buff.

So you want Pistol/Dagger and Sword/Dagger to be rendered worthless so all thieves will be forced to run Dagger mainhand heartseeker spamming builds?

I believe there are no P/D or S/D thieves anyway. The only Thieves I see are using dual dagger or Shortbow

No S/P or P/P anymore either, D/D and D/P are usually all I see also, there is to much incentive to playing D/D. And nothing annoys me more in this game than watching bad thieves spam heartseeker all day, I will chase these buggers down for days on my Necro just to watch them die LOL.

You cannot really get rid or “fix” zerging because it can and should be a valuable tactic, even though the game engine cannot handle mass zerging 30-40+ its still a powerful option.

What I think is needed is more ways to slow down and counter these zergs, such as traps and trip wires that can be built in the environment that have no aoe limit with cripple/snare debuffs that can not be cleansed for there durations.

Remove the caps on all aoe damage abilities.

Increase the HP of all towers, forts, camps, etc to make them harder to take, but add a decay effect if left undefended, if left undefended for too long even small parties can easily take objective.

My feedback on stealth WvW

Deadcell.9052

Here’s the thing you cannot “fix” stealth until culling is fixed, right now due to culling a stealth ability that usually last 1-2 sec last 3-4 sometimes longer if there are more players in a given area. Only current way to "fix this would be to remove stealth completely, which quite honestly is not the right answer to the issue.

Now I encourage all those who say “omg thief’s, stealth, OP, please nerf both” and do some spvp, I know its not for everyone but its a great tool in learning how to counter classes and situations you are having a hard time with. The big thing I found when doing this is stealth and thieves are merely an annoyance in an environment without culling, sure they still hit hard because 95% of thieves play glass cannon but otherwise with a few alterations in gear and maybe traits you can easily survive their burst and be able to effectively counter, toughness > thieve’s!

My main character now is a Necro after playing Thief for the first few months after release and with my build and gear setup its very rare I get killed by a single thief, most times when I get jumped I have time to counter and usually send them running away, to me thats a win! Right now thanks to culling Thieves have it ezmode in Wv3 but it definitely can be countered, the game is so centered around burst builds and zergs its easy pickings for a thief coming in and out of stealth, again adding a little defense into your builds and gear goes a long way.

March update- Predictions/expectations

in WvW

Posted by: Deadcell.9052

Deadcell.9052

The one thing I am sure of this coming patch is culling will not or even be close to being fixed. As long as the game encourages mass zerging (30-40+ groups) it will be impossible to fix, look at it now major lag, ability delays, DC’s every time 2 mass zergs clash, that will only get significantly worse once culling is removed, the game engines cannot handle it! The only fix that will get you close enough to a fix would be to heavily penalize groups greater than 25 and set objectives around the map to spread these groups around as much as possible.

Other than that heres hoping the new progression system for wvwvw is descent and not some gated type content like everything else released this year and theres a bunch of new shiny goodies!

Guild Missions [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Deadcell.9052

Deadcell.9052

After 29 pages of this thread, I’m compelled to ask why a few small guilds per server, such as my guild with about 8-10 actively playing members, don’t seek out other small family type guilds, compare influence and number unlocks and discuss merging with the most influential? It wouldn’t be a “large guild” mentality so much as one small family helping another so both or more of them reach the same common goal in the end. And the chances are astronomical that neither guild would ask for payment, application, interview, or any other ridiculous process to join. Not to mention, we’d all have someone to run regular content with as well. We small guilds are all in the same situation. Why not help one another instead of buck the new content or continue to rehash the same points over another 29 pages and hope by some miracle that Anet will respond or even READ this entire thread? We all want to play the new content at some point, I’m sure. So, we can either sit here and reiterate our points over and over again, subject ourselves to abuse of all types from people who don’t understand what we’re trying to express…OR, we can band together and help each other. Isn’t that what “community” is all about?

Many guilds are doing just that. Just read the Guild forum and see how many are disbanding and being absorbed. One thing you over look though is that in some cases, many cases I would bet, these small guilds are more emotionally invested in their little groups than you might think. Just letting them die (along with everything they’ve managed to achieve with it so far), may not be as easy for them as you might think.

But here’s the point though — they should never be asked to do this at all. If ANet had done a decent job of implementing guild missions in the first place, no one would be feeling forced to let their guild die. Or worse, actually having pulled out from under them as the lure of the larger guilds and their influence wealth, attrit them into the ground.

So bottom line is, for some, their guild is more than just a name and a symbol on a banner. Killing it to be absorbed by someone else is NOT a pleasant prospect.

As a member of a small 8-10 active player guild, we will NOT be merging with any other guilds or doing any type of mass recruiting. We have accomplished a lot with the small numbers we have, we are a close knit group who do every aspect of the game together and we would simply rather not do any of the new guild content than throw it all away due to a very poor developer decision, we will simply just have to wait till another game comes out that is a bit more small guild friendly.

they said they can’t announce whens the scavenger hunt cause they’re afraid the market is gonna tank. They also mention they’re currently not working on it, which could implement they’re trying to mask the scavenger hunt.

I don’t remember where or in what context but Colin mentionned Scavenger Hunt as a “priority” for them.

I’m really crossing fingers for it to come for March, or at least some good news about it.

I know he mentioned somewhere in this forum that they were not going to release any more Legendary’s till they had a solid system in place for getting precursors. Don’t think that will be anytime soon, i personally doubt it will be this year so till then enjoy your never ending gold grind.

U mean the greatest win for ppl who finish it

Nope, I myself still lack the precursor, but it would be the worst implementation of such scavenger hunt, and also a lie because they’ve already stated they’re not working on it right now. It would be fail to turn something already on the road the scavenger hunt.

How would this system be worse than the current “be a gold farmer your way!” system currently in place for precursors?

Guild Missions [merged]

Deadcell.9052

I’m really quite saddened by the way that the guild missions worked out. There have been many good posts analyzing the problem, and so I won’t try to rehash those. I’ll just post how I feel.

I feel like I’ve been set at a disadvantage. There are other players who will have more than I have, but not through regular gameplay. Just because they chose to be part of a larger guild.

There will always be players that have better items than I do, or more things from the Gem Store, or just get lucky on a drop. But those are as the result of playing more, having more skill, more money or being in the right place at the right time.

With this update, my guild will have a near-zero chance of ever running a guild mission unless we all focus solely on the most efficient ways to get influence. Players in a larger guild don’t have to do that – they easily get the influence simply by being a part of a larger group. We have to put more effort in the game just to maybe – maybe – get the same rewards.

I’ve been in the same guild for years, in WoW since 2006. It’s a small group of friends who don’t always have time to play, but who want to get together every once in a while to have fun. For other rewards, like Fractals and ascended items, we are definitely behind the curve. But we can do them, and we can get them eventually.

With guild missions we won’t. Anet has now put me in a hard place. I can stick with my friends who I’ve played with for years, or join a larger guild in order to actually enjoy the content released in this patch. In a game that puts so much focus on players helping other players and still being rewarded – everyone can ‘tag’ a mob for loot, join in an event and still get credit, rez each other and such. But for this update, I’m essentially being forced to turn my back on my friends and my guild if I want to take part.

All my guild members were really looking forward to this, and now we are crestfallen. In all honesty, the 3rd choice of playing another game together just became much more appealing. Maybe their developers wouldn’t so intentionally alienate small guilds.

I am in the same boat for the most part, though I do not feel at a disadvantage for being in a small guild I am really just bummed out on not being able to do the new content with my small guild. But a couple days have passed now and I am over it, this game is not made for the small tight knit guilds like ours, its for the big zerg guilds, like everything else in this game zerg > all.

I am betting on unfixable, sorry Dev’s its not that I do not trust you, and I am sure you will get close but as long as WvWvW is based around mindless zerging with the biggest numbers possible it will never happen.

One core flaw in my opinion

I still enjoy the game for the most part but have to say these last couple patches really made it tough to login at times. My biggest issue with this game right now is the lack of build variety, seems its either go burst or go bunker, condition builds really have no place in the current state of the game. I really hope they address this very soon, even though its been an issue since beta, and they said they were working on it, then they weren’t, then they were thinking about it??!!!!!??!!! Yeah so who knows?

The guild quest thing was a major disappointment for me also. I come from a small guild and the new system is very anti small guild. I am not into guild hopping or mass recruiting, I enjoy playing with the several members we have and will just have to accept that I will not be able to participate in the guild missions any time soon if at all.

And my only issue at the moment is the non-epic farmfest journey that is the legendary weapon, unbelievable how boring that journey is. The concept of getting a precursor is mind boggling, either get super lucky with a drop, or mystic toilet or be a gold farmer, its your choice! gold farm the way YOU want! LOL just sad.

Other than that stuff I still enjoy the game, the way I look at it is its Anets game they can do what they please with it, they are the ones who have to live with the bad decisions when players stop playing certain aspects or the game overall.

OK For Mesmer's but not OK for Rangers?

So I have a ranger alt, 1 of many alts, and used the pet dps build just to play around in wvwvw. One of my favorite things to do was to send my jaguar up on walls to kill other players, siege etc, OP indeed but a lot of fun and one of the very few fun ranger builds out there.

Now with this last patch I noticed my little jaguar dps machine cannot have fun anymore taking down players, siege in those hard to reach areas, so my question is why is it OK for Mesmer clone’s (x3) to be able to jump on wall tops killing siege and players and not OK for my little jaguar? Once you kill my jaguar he cannot play anymore, kill a cone and new one can be made instantly to continue the efforts of the recently deceased clone.

This is all out of curiosity, my jaguar is bored

1. Which class do you consider to be the “most overpowered”?

WvWvW – Mesmer, Thief / PvE – Warrior / Spvp – Mesmer

2. Which class do you consider to be the “most underpowered”?

Ranger, Engineer, Necromancer – All 3 have it rough in all 3 aspects of the game

3. Which aspect of the game do you think needs the most work done? (sPvP, PvE dungeons, PvE open world, WvW)

WvWvW

4. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being good and 1 being bad, how would you rate the in game economy?

1 – Worst I have seen in over 10 years of MMO’s

5. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being a lot and 1 being very few, how would you rate the amount of bugs/glitches in the current build of the game?

7

6. Which aspect of the game do you want to do more, but have no reason to currently do so? (sPvP, PvE dungeons, PvE open world, WvW)

(I do a little bit of everything, Personally cannot get into any type for long periods)
Spvp – Not enough match type variety to hold my interest for long periods of play.
Dungeons – Majority of them are still very buggy and not very rewarding, hard to find groups for many of them.
Open World – Not enough long DE chains, so you end up standing around for long periods of time either looking or waiting for the next event to start., also not very rewarding.
WvWvW – Just a massive zergfest, gets boring quick running with or running into 50+ players.

7. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being great and 1 being the worst, how would you rate the community interaction between players? (things such as parties, dungeons, etc)

7 – Not bad but its all what you make of it.

precursors are fine

My only beef with precursor’s and well the majority of the legendary process is that it’s 100% rng/luck based, there is no skill what so ever involved with getting one, heck I saw someone the other day get a precursor off one of those exploding chickens that you can 1-2 shot in cursed shore, its get lucky or turn your self into a gold farmer to get a legendary, very lame in my opinion but non the less fairly easy to get in time.

Most games that have a Legendary or there version of “The” ultimate endgame weapon usually involves accomplishing an incredibly difficult feat, like mastering the hardest PvE content, or fighting the toughest opponents in pvp, or any variation of the 2 or other, but regardless of which path one takes its a symbol of a very accomplished skilled player, unlike here where its gratz you mastered farming!

which price of precursors do you want

Deadcell.9052

ANet really needs to move to a skill/achievement/ based system in acquiring these precursor/legendary’s, they also all need to become soulbound or at the very least account bound upon creation.

Out of all the games I have played a legendary or a games version of a legendary was a prestigious symbol of accomplishment, some proved that you were a hard core raider able to clear the highest and hardest pve content available in game, others through pvp accomplishments proving you were a player not to be messed with, and others through feats of exploration or a combination of all of the above, here at gw2 its congrats your a master gold farmer!

Ok big boys, let's brainstorm

A Legendary needs to reflect ones skill and dedication in ALL aspects of play throughout the world of Tyria.

The first thing that needs to be done is to get rid of all rng elements, its a terrible system that has never worked well in any game. The next thing I would do is to take the weapon itself break it up and scatter the pieces throughout the world and a skill/achievement based quest system would be put in place that begins once one completes their gift of mastery. From there great challenges would be put in place, heres some examples I was thinking of:

Dungeons:

-Dungeon Master Achievement
-Make it through all dungeon paths without dieing once, if you die once you have to start it all over.
-Assist “x” amount of different players through story modes in all dungeons.
-Add hidden relics that need to be found and fought for in all dungeons that would be used in the assembly of the given weapon piece.

WvWvW:

-Complete the ultimate dominator achievement, as well as any other achievement that helps your fellow server mates like healing, supply, siege, reinforcing keeps, etc.
-Scatter relics that need to be found and fought for in all borderlands that are used in crafting ones weapon.
- Would love to add more here but the ultimate dominator achievement is A LOT of wvwvw time on its own.

Jumping Puzzles: Yes! all need to be completed, shows ones ability to control their character, also much needed relics will be hidden in chest at end.

Open World PvE:

-Complete ALL dynamic events.

Spvp: Not sure about this only because its kind of its own game.

Once this is all completed you pick your weapon type. At this point you start your journey proving your efficiency with “x” weapon.

-Kill all world bosses and dragons using ONLY “x” weapon
-Kill one of each class type in wvwvw using ONLY "x"weapon
-Complete all open world dungeons solo using only “x” weapon
-Final relics needed to complete legendary drop from completion of these task.

Theres a ton more that could be added but I feel if someone had to go through all this stuff he/she is more than worthy of wielding one of these awesome weapons and can hold them with pride knowing they truly earned it, and the community would welcome them with open arms in all aspects of play knowing they have a truly skilled player in their mists.

Too many legendarys

in Crafting

Deadcell.9052

Of course your going to see more legendarys, the fact that anyone can just google “legendary weapons” put in a credit card and buy one makes the whole thing a joke.

You do know that buying a legendary through gems costs +$2000, right? Maybe even on the black market, half of that?

The number of people who buy a legendary through real $ are far and few.

I am well aware of that but the fact that the option exists really goes against everything a Legendary should be about. What really grinds my gears about legendary’s though is that they really are not hard to get, the whole journey (with the exception of gift of mastery) is just grind grind grind in hopes RNG is good to you and you have enough gold in your pocket on any particular day to buy what you need, there really is no skill involved, all you need is a few hours a day and knowledge of the best farm spots around, there is nothing Legendary about that, I am actually surprised that the stats on all Legendary’s don’t read “X” amount of Magic find, “X” amount of gold find from foes, “X” amount of run speed because that is all a Legendary represents.

In a few more months you will thousands more Legendary’s everyday, hopefully the next batch of Legendary’s Anet creates will have a better system utilizing ones skill, achievements and accomplishments throughout the world of Tyria, not the Rng based/“just buy it now its on sale” system we have now.
