(…) Lower tier servers straight up don’t have the organization thats so common in higher tiers.(…)
Can I invite you to see EU T1?
Even WL guys who came to Deso didn’t have much chance with Viz :P

Just another day in T1 WvW.
I actually feel sorry for ER, it’s not fun in T1 right now.
We should seriously make an alliance, but even so I bet VS would out man us.
Besides what’s been said, following the commander at all is an individual choice.
Besides, there’s no shortage of commanders in any server, I bet if you go in LA you’ll see some there, some more in dragons and so on and so on.
Speaking of commander tags in PvE, I was in the Maguuma Jungle today doing my daily, 8, EIGHT, commander tags on the guild challenge.
Went to LA after that, another 4 there, and let remind you this in a tier 1 server, at that time there was one in EB, and none on any of the BLs, great job everyone we’re the next Blacktide.
(…)Numbers are their only advantage, (…) and has turned them into a bunch of kitteny lemmings, unable to function without a blob.
I’ve actually never seen small viz groups, they always have to come in bulk and for the viz guys here saying “we’re not that many”, the outmanned boon is pretty much always on, specially on BLs.
I have loads of screens on my computer showing viz always coming with easily 4 times the force when not more, and tonight that wasn’t even enough in an open field fight, roughly 10v40, where they had to track back and run away.
If ANET introduced a “report for hacking/exploit/cheat/whatever” they’d be getting about a million reports an hour.
I think its best to report the actual bug, as in how it’s done, so it can be fixed.
Maybe ANET could rig it for instant kill like the guys from Uncharted did xD
I don’t think introducing gamble is such a good idea, besides like other users have mentioned, it’s something that people are doing already.
And you can always gamble on the mystic forge too, by the way, I lost over 100 gold that way, never again…
You’d have to pair them with damage taken, prevented, and healed meters for this not to devolve into a bunch of idiocy.
Believe it or not, someone on the team is going to get the aggro from a champ mob and take more damage than everyone else. That person is going to have to spend more time evading and not dealing damage.
My observation is that without clear aggro mechanics, people have a tendency to glorify not being the guy getting aggro above all else – and this would just reinforce it.
I was about to mention this, and in the words of Mike Tyson, “everybody has a plan until they get hit”.
While with my Ranged I can stay at 1500 dealing consistent damage without ever needing to dodge (graveling from AC for example), in my Warrior it’s a very different story.
A global end score would be nice, just make sure it does tell all the story.
My current pie-in-the-sky dream now is to simply make a Quiver of Swift Flight. The stack of 50 Ectos is coming along, though 250 Vials of Powerful Blood by itself is an extremely steep price for one item, at the rate they drop. It’s going to take forever to create that — how do you expect anyone to make a Legendary, that basically requires 250+ of everything?
I’ve stopped reading here and I’ll tell you why.
When these where introduced I saw the icon of the item in a website and I thought “that looks like a quiver, and what do you know, it’s called a quiver” I wondered if you could actually see it but I wasn’t hopeful, I looked it up on google but I couldn’t find it right then so I forgot about it.
A few weeks passed I was in LA and someone linked one in the /map, you couldn’t preview back then, so I asked and he WP to show me.
As a L/S bow Ranger that was a must so for the first time I jumped into fractals, after 4 runs I got that drop, for large bones and ectos I bought them, all of them, around 40 gold back then.
How did I got the gold? Laid back relaxed PvE and gather, EVERYTHING and NEVER in the same place.
A lot of people come up with these routines for max profit where they run around in a “circle”, that’s just crazy, I’m always in a different map, kill every mob I see, gather everything that shows up on the minimap and sell the loot/mats for the best profit (sometimes that’s to an NPC).
Map exploration comes easy, just relax and enjoy the view, hell it could have been 5 times bigger, I would love it.
500 tokens is nothing, I have 4 full dungeon armors (for stats) and those are about 1300 tokens EACH.
To finish, best advise is to relax and just play, I got more gold than I know what to do with thanks to that.
Lastly and maybe I should have started with this, they’re not changing how you make a Legendary because that would be unfair for the people that got it already, hell they’re upgrading them to Ascended stats so it doesn’t fall behind, how cool are they?
(edited by Dean Calaway.9718)
I’ve read it all before you ask and honestly, I don’t know what you are all about.
I do understand where are you coming from, you said it yourself, you’re bored with it.
But realistically, a redesign of the combat system is not a viable option.
But even if they did that, lets break your suggestion down to the essentials, you want a Rock Paper Scissors kind of play with “less limited” dodge, how would people play?
Rolling around 95% of the time and then trying to get in that R, P or S hoping the other person would get the opposing one in so they could score a hit.
Wouldn’t that be a game of chance really?
Now you can say “well, not so unlimited dodge”.
Alright, so now you have 2 people standing in front of each other waiting for the other to make a move so they can counter, only both would wait to make sure they’d get a hitting blow.
Now think on a 3v1 scenario, as soon as you used P on one, the other 2 would be more than free to use R on you, how would that make 3v1 any more viable than what it is right now?
Honestly, how is all that much different from what we have now?
You already have abilities to counter other abilities and timing IS everything, mashing the keyboard has NEVER won me anything in this game, not in PvP/WvW anyway, I always need to watch my enemy and counter its abilities.
And as for 3v1 “not viable in this game”, there’s loads of videos on YouTube where you see small groups taking on much larger groups and winning on WvW.
Again, I think it all boils down to you being bored with this game right now, I’d say get in another char or give the game a break, but if I’m honest your post made it sound like you are bored from every game in general.
When the game released you use to get a lot of the now called transmutation crystals, I remember I was lvl 20~25 I ad 10~15 already so I always thought they would be pretty common, but no, even before I could hit lvl80 they just stopped appearing.
I think ANET got them off the loot table all together and thats because they want/need you to buy them with gems.
Getting stones together to make a crystal would defeat the purpose.
And the stones aren’t so bad, for my alts I actually got some nice looking high lvl armor and been transmutating them as I find stronger pieces so they look great since the start without needing to worry about running out of stones.
I have a Ranger as my main so I might sound like a suspect, but it doesn’t need nerfing.
I’m guessing you run a Warrior right?
Well I do as my alt, go check the Longbow in it, in particular #3 and F1, and those you can put out at the same time…
As for your comment “why should I need to look for a big red circle on the ground and move out of it?”
Really? I mean Really?
Since we are giving opinions, let my start by saying I’m not an MMO guy, the only other one I played was SWTOR and that’s because it was given to me as a gift.
But still, GW2 is in my top 10 all time favorites (been playing since C64/A2600).
And it’s in my top 10 because, well, it’s a kitten good game and it’s ACCESSIBLE.
I can tell you things like “Malice” and “Prowess” would definitely weight against it IMO, they do sound “cool” but its an unnecessary evil specially if ANET wants to bring more players in like the other user said, personally I recommend GW2 to every gamer I know and I’ve always promise them they’ll get their moneys worth with it, and thats thanks to the great learning curve that makes it so accessible to new comers and noobs if you will.
I always run dungeons with 109% MF and that’s from gear alone, before nourishment or banners.
GW2 is made in a way that the players can take care of themselves, I’ll give you an example, this week I was running AC and I was the last player standing on the final boss, after some maybe 10 minutes that felt 30 I finally got him down and avoided starting over, that with 0 defence what I have is power cd mf.
I’m not sure how you find MF is handicapping the team, if a player dies a lot that doesn’t mean he’s running with MF, maybe he’s just bad or it’s not his day.
Personally I think someone that uses all MF gear knows what he’s actually doing.
I’d like to see some serious bonus for outmanned servers, toughness and vitality specially.
I should post some viz jergs screens here so people will get it, they are easily 20 to 1 at times.
All I’m gonna say is, today I played roughly 2 hours, last one I had to WP 4 times or so and every time I did there were the same 7~10 toons parked there doing nothing when there was a big queue to enter…
“do your business” or get off the pot…
I should get this in the suggestions, some faster ejection for inactivity or something.
Like lordkrall, doesn’t make much sense, whats the point of that really? Most of the WvW fun IS zerg.
If anything they should boost small groups when they’re up against much larger ones, multiply toughness for example just so they won’t get wiped in half a second.
Could be interesting, but I don’t see how they aren’t creative to begin with. Besides the fact that the three borderlands are copy-pasted, much of the keep designs are already unique in layout and design as it is, and require a different attack/defense strategy.
I believe that was done (to a certain point anyway) to keep it “fair” so no one map would have an advantage over the other, much in the same way some FPSs have their MP maps mirrored.
That said, different skins on the borderlands (keeping the geometry and so keeping it with no advantage to any server on a particular one) would make a difference, why not instead of lush green/snow field, an Autumn Ascalonian/volcanic region?
I am not a lawyer
I am not ok with another person using their moral compass to decide if what I said was acceptable for table talk
I don’t care if some random stranger saw that as offensive.
You see the problem here?
I know I said bad words in the presence of absolutely too many people.
Guessing you are talking about /map instead of /say right? And in Lion’s Arch?
What would reduce the 72 hour suspension by 100% would be people following the rules.
And that is problem solved.
And FYI, the profanity filter can pick up A LOT of words that aren’t profanity, specially if they’re in a foreign language, for example, you know in Albania the word for car is the same word used for “gentleman sausage”?
This happens between pretty much every language on the planet, normal words in one is a curse in another, and its really annoying when the filter kicks in, so people that turn it off aren’t exactly doing it so to hunt you down, nor are they violating any rules.
IDK if most of you guys noticed, but some of the ascended gear that has been added does come with flavor text referring to Cantha.
So it’s not like they are trying to make it go away and pretend it was never there, the flavor texts themselves suggest that these items where actually smuggled out of Cantha, that might be a hint.
Personally I would rather see a whole new place, Elona and Cantha are in the south of Tyria, why not go a different direction (literally) in Guild Wars 2?
+1, I concur. I want a more MANLY Legendary Bow please.
so you want a bow that burps, farts and is a scratcher? ^..^
Would you settle for one that forgets to put the toilet seat down?
I always thought it was annoying has hell when girls forget to leave it up.
On the subject matter, I’d only consider going for a legendary with my main, a Ranger Long/Short Bow so yeah, that’s outta the question.
IDK what they where thinking, I mean forget about most MMO players being guys, I know girls (that play GW2) and wouldn’t come close to something like that, they are simply silly.
For a game that’s spouse to be for looks rather than stats that wasn’t a brilliant idea now was it? How many players did they think that would actually want something like that?
Don’t forget you get a star next to your life bar, it’s a pretty big deal and shouldn’t come easy.
That’s what makes it so special and that’s why I was so happy when I got it.
If anything I thing it should be even harder to get, add all the dungeons paths too as a requirement for completion and when ever a new Vista/PoI/WP is added to the game, remove the star until people get those, you’d keep the title but the star only if you have everything.
Now at first that seems a bit unfair, but think about it for a minute, like I say I have it already, but since then there has been new WPs and PoIs introduced that honestly I haven’t gotten yet.
What’s more if a new map is introduced (say something like Lost Shores where I haven’t set foot in yet) I still have that shiny star, I could stop playing for a year and it will still be there, so it’s not gonna be contemporary and IMO that’s no good and it takes away the whole idea of it really.
About Lick Wounds, in a WvW scenario I barely survive long enough on a down state to even let the cool down finish to use it, in PvE, well who cares.
As for Entangled, nvm about it too, I can record a video anytime in WvW where you clearly see everyone walking out of it no problem when it was spoused to keep them there until they destroy the roots.

ok… how about this….
Since they glorify the idea of nobody being in set “roles” in a group (i.e. every class can damage, every class can heal, no Trinity, etc…) why don’t they just let us mix and match armors? I am sure we could come up with some EPIC looking combinations taking pieces from all 3 types of armor. Just let us choose our skins .
One of the problems is actually matching, remember the preview? It was clipping hell, to the point it was taken out for a “fix” and came back as it is now, when you preview a class of armor you can preview pieces of that class only so you can’t mix it with others.
To fix to a point of being usable in game they’d have to redo… well pretty much everything.
I much rather all new sets and a lot of them if possible.
Speak for yourself. I almost couldn’t care less what my weapons look like (almost, I really didn’t like COF sword so I skinned Super Sword Skin), but really care what my armour looks like.
a) add more armor skins
b) LET US STORE THEM LIKE IN SPVP
Allow me to elaborate on my previews post, collecting armor sets it’s very unpractical in the current game setting do to inventory limitations, 6 slots each set, weapons on the other hand, 1, ence my comment “people actually collect weapons”.
I myself have 3 armor sets on my main toon and 7 weapons, and like most people I’d really like a system like in PvP where I could easily change the skin BUT with that there goes the transmutation crystals usefulness, in the game that’s “depending” on the money people put in the gem store.
The problem is resources like people have pointed, a new design needs to be made in 30 “variations”.
Weapons are FAR more easy to do, all it’s needed is to simply scale to be usable by everyone.
And unlike armor, people actually collect weapons.
I have a Ranger as my main since day 1 and I recognize some of these issues although I see some nitpick too.
Running pass enemies can easily be done by stowing the pet, even if you get agro keep your pet close and it will break on both at the same time.
Same for jumping puzzles, I’ve done most with very little trouble as far as pets go.
More worryingly is the travel time, as an all ranged Ranger (1500) the time the pet takes to reach a target is appalling, specially if you engage more than one.
Say you are striking someone down the road infront of you, your pet will run there when suddenly someone comes in your flank, you aim and try to push him back with the Longbow #4, mean while your pet that was just arriving at the first target starts running for the second one.
This happens A LOT, specially in WvW, the pet barely ever gets a hit at times with all the running around and then there’s the walls…
Again, a Ranger with 1500 is really good on the wall except half of the damage dealer is sitting there next to him idle…
Then there’s the swap, I’d recommend anyone to swap when the life goes below 50%, but that’s easier said than done specially for someone that plays a melee one.
All and all a successful Ranger, or to be successful, needs to be more independent from his pet at the current game state, which like it’s been said, kinda kills the purpose of being a Ranger in the first place.
What I’d like to see implemented:
Faster zeroing.
Not complicated, in PVE when ever you take a shortcut the pet will still use the normal pathfind, but it will multiply it’s speed several times if needed to reach the Ranger very quickly.
So the code is there and it’s possible, doing the same to reach targets would solve the ranged Ranger target problems.
Jump or teleport to target when pathfind returns 0.
To solve the wall problem in WvW along with countless other locations, the “immune” system would still work the same way to prevent exploits when needed.
Stowed pets only come out manually
Like it was said here, this would fix some of the clumsiness of having a pet at times, and it could hardly be exploited too, because what’s the point or in what way could it really?
Buff the ranger when the pet is downed.
This could be as simple as adding the damage the pet would deal to the damage the player is doing.
Now people might ask, “what would be the downside of killing the pet then? That hardly seems fair.” well it might not sound fair at first, and this might be controversial, but, the difference between the Ranger pet mechanic and the lets say the Warrior Adrenaline mechanic is:
The Warrior has its base line, and the adrenaline adds on to it.
The Ranger has its base line, and when the pet dies he gets a “50%” debuff on his damage output.
The pet alive and dealing damage IS the base line of the Ranger, not a “multiplier” like you see in other classes.
But all and all I don’t think my last point would even be considered, the first 3 how ever I’d like to see implemented ASAP because they would actually fix some of the brokenness of the Ranger right now.
Amazing how much people nagged ANET because they wanted to show off the titles now they just want them off.
This is the perfect example of why a company shouldn’t give in to every request of their playerbase. Sure people will say “they don’t listen” but at least they won’t go “gimme gimme gimme, actually this is horrible take it away”.
Personally I don’t think ANET is going back on this one, this being a “time-sink” and all.
Just remember the PVE commander title.
With all that said having more display options can’t be that hard to implement.
Title:
- On
- Off
Nameplates, on/off for: - Party
- Guild
- Team
- Squad
- All
And since we’re with the hands in this jar, enemy invaders nameplates should be reviewed too.
I have them on for visibility sake, but I would love a light version. Just the initials of the server and the rank maybe.
" CreativeAnarchy.6324I am a bit bored my self, still fun but kind of boring.
I think this is the biggest problem and the suggestions proposed wouldn’t help, you’ll end up being bored again after a few weeks.
And like it’s been said, the ranking does work, it’s not like a server can sit around and win. Just look at Blacktide, used to be high up the rank not long ago and now it’s near the bottom.
And by the way, whats wrong with PvP?
I only got this game because of the “no-farming” policy of ANET (if nothing else, since the game came out look at the stuff that got nerfd).
It’s true that I have no interest in legendary weapons, but I do collect armor sets for example, just on my main I have 3, all mix&match (I.E. lots of money wasted in transmutation crystals, etc) MF, DPS and Tank, and still I have more gold than I know what to do with.
I guess what I’m trying to say is just play the game.
Sure, getting 100% of the map is far from the most efficient way to make gold, but it sure is the most fun, you’ll be surprise how much you can raise.
I have a similar story that I’ll keep short.
Full exotic gear, lvl 80, 100% map star going for Ascalonian Catacumbs for the first time.
As soon as I asked if it was cool being my 1st run I got kicked, like 4 times that day.
People just rather spend 20 minutes waiting for someone than 10 explaining anything.
As a result I just ended looking up a walkthrough video on YouTube before I had a go.
Like it’s been said, they only want you there for the influence now more than ever with the guild missions.
I’ve been in several guilds now I’m on one with 8 members, only 2 active, me and my brother.
The big guilds I was in did NOTHING for me, all the gold and exotic sets I got them by myself or PUGs for dungeons.
Honestly I wouldn’t wear a guild tag at all if it wasn’t to keep away the “come -join-our-super-friendly-guild-we’ll-help-you-with-anything-you-need”
I love this game but right from the start most (to not say all) guilds are like this.
Small group of +-10 at the top enjoin what the influence can buy (specially with guild missions now) and for the rest, scraps, if you can get another low ranking player to give you a hand consider yourself lucky.
That’s because the artist drew it like so and then someone in the marketing or the PR department decided it looked better facing the other way, comon practice.
You should place this on the suggestions part of the forum, ask them maybe to try and use scissors with the left hand so they could have a feel of what you mean.
It’s a valid request that should be taken in serious consideration as much as making a modern building wheel chair accessible is.
I remember in games like the original Unreal there was an option to pick the position and IT DOES make all the difference.
It’s true that the system is a bit “stalkish”.
The blocked not really getting blocked is the most urgent and “fixable” imo.
If you block someone that person shouldn’t be able to see anything about you, online status, location, names, map chat, not even the toon itself on the map, and vice versa.
Some of the other complains I’ve read would be tricky, like more individual characters, but as long as blocking works it should be ok.
On the guilds nagging to represent with every toon, thats the fast track to my leave button, specially since a player can be more important to them than they are for the player.
About 3, when I mixed the med Whispers hood and CoF chest I couldn’t stand anywhere without people whispering me about it, now adays it’s everywhere -_-
And more important than the name is the general title that should be on the plate, not on click only.
Force an enemy to respawn really seems like the best idea, simple and elegant just walk up to him and interact.
Problem is abusing, like force right after a kill.
It’s never simple is it?
What started the rez-rush/graveyard-run was some of the insane fights like the Magg one where for most (all?) the only way to do it was like that.
I’m all from change, to keep it fresh and make it more enjoyable but I think the problem all along was some of the insane fights.
I’d suggest faster res, since you can easily go down on the time it takes to half-res someone.
And more clear objectives, since right now for beginner the way to do is ask in the party (and risk a kick) or look up on YouTube.
I do hope this seek to make it more tactic doesn’t end up making it dependant on a holly trinity.
And for the love of all that’s holly, GROUP FINDER.
Annnnd I forgot to upload the back, <3 the quiver TY anet.
Here’s my ranger as seen on gamespot a month or two ago, I’m considering changing pants but the replacement clips on the boots : (
