People are already using software to make their camera behave like that, technically it isn’t a mod because it doesn’t modify or access GW2 data in any way, it just rebinds their hotkeys on the computer. It also doesn’t really give you an advantage in any way, so there is no reason why it would be bannable.
You can make or get a ready make macro for this, prema-right-click.
As for not being and unfair advantage which could lead to suspension or ban, that’s a gray area, I’d definitely not tell people here it’s ok to use any software like that.
I’d support the click on/off since it really takes a toll on the wrist having a finger pressing all the time.
The Infinite Mining Tools is a looooong term investment, when you think about it like that 30€ is not that much for a game that doesn’t charge any sub fee.
I think the OP proposed changes would only help cement the current leaderboard since what ever way you look at it, what ever way you try to paint it, what ever argument you use, it WOULD make the daily AP easier to get, ence defeating the point really.
As is, the only way of splitting hairs on the top of the leader board is with the daily achievements ALONE since the monthly and living story ones are easy to get, them being aimed for the casual player after all.
As for the argument the OP makes about how wrong it is for players at the bottom wanting to climb up at the expense of the top ones falling… How else is the leader board spouse to change? I mean really, answer that. Back to my first paragraph, right now the only thing making a difference is the dailies AP.
To make the dailies give a set number of AP with the chest would be like printing the leaderboard as is on paper and leave it be for years to come.
I’d propose all permanent achievements to have their cap lifted and cycle to infinity like the current Salvage one, that way the OP would have his wish of breaking free from the daily cycle slavery since that wouldn’t be the only reason he’s at the top right now.
Although he’ll probably go berserk with this idea since maintaining a top position with my idea implemented would be pretty impossible.
You have pieces with 4 stats already, just pay a visit to the laurel vendor.
Now Vertical vs Horizontal, to put it simple:
Vertical would be introducing more and more gear tiers, basically creating a gear treadmill.
Horizontal would be something on the line of traits, or unlocking different weapons for each profession.
This is what anet is aiming for, so don’t be surprise if in the next years you won’t see any increment in stats.
If you’re talking about a Norn sure, specially if you make a not so buff short one.
I really don’t see why this can’t be, you could buy it for 800 gems and you’d have added at the bottom of your inventory bag list a 20(15?10?5?) slot bag that would work exactly like the personal bank.
Granted that would render the bank trader express “useless” and that’s one of their money makers.
If there’s one think you can’t complain about GW2 is speed and mobility.
Just look at the side while running at base speed, or better yet swimming.
Not to mention there’s always a waypoint close, CoF to Teq is a loading screen away.
And like another user said, the difference of speed is part of balancing, there’s always a trade off.
-when I left, real money would only buy vanity stuff or character and bank slots (not game breaking), is it still like this? (I mean, Is it still not pay2win?)
Yes, happily it’s still like that.
And you don’t even have to spend real money, you can always trade Gold for Gems although it’s always nice to support development.
Those are items in game to be used by NPCs only, they weren’t spoused to show on the trading post, but you know how it goes…
Some else listed a link for it, you don’t need to wait till level 40, you can use a transmutation stone (that used to be abundant but not so much anymore).
When you get there it’s gonna be 3 vendors (different lvl stats) make sure you buy for the least amount of karma since you’ll be trasmutating it anyway.
I was about to stop reading when you said “IRL” but I kept anyway…
The visible dripping blood would instantly give away the thief location (don’t think otherwise), anything other than 100% invisible would be enough to render the mechanic pretty much useless, as proof look at every other game that tried that.
If anything, heartseeker is the problem, the thief has some pretty insane damage and that couple with stealth makes the problem, that’s why you can see on YouTube loads of “thief vs zerg”.
I’d say throttle back on their damage but they’d go nuts.
Mean while just get something to drop on that shadow field as soon as it appears, like Ranger LB #5, AoE dmg and applies cripple so they won’t go far if they decide to stay there for the full stack.
I thought an update made it so if the pet gets in combat the Ranger doesn’t automatic get in combat as well, so it doesn’t slow down anymore.
(edited by Dean Calaway.9718)
Well it’s preserved when you use a Transmutation Crystal/Stone.
What you get from the Mystic Forge is a new item.
For example:
Ascended Back Piece like the quiver gets soulbound on use, toss it on the MF and what you get is an account bound one, because for the system internally it’s another item entirely.
It’s easier than it sounds, but trust me.
The listing fee is a way to remove gold from the game and control the inflation, it will probably go up (as in bigger listing fees) instead of down.
As for your other suggestions, those would only make everyone go to where the best bonus is, just look at champion farming, there are champions in every map, but people only go to Queensdale and Frostgorge Sound.
And because anet wouldn’t make the crafting rotating bonus because it goes against the policy of not spreading the population, at best you’d get all the bonus in one city and so it would be just like LA, packed full while all the others are empty.
As for class: The only person who can answer that question is you. Every class has its strong and weak points, and its own “feel.” The best way to know what class is best for you is to try them all out.
You should mention you can jump in PvP and experience a class at level 80 with all skills and traits unlocked vs NPCs.
There is a ton a topics about this, and in a lot of them its listed most of the problems and their solutions.
At the end it would just be way too much work for something people wouldn’t even try to enjoy after the first impact.
And if you think about it, what you’re asking for is pretty much water combat in the air.
I say this because you’d have to move in a volume (water/air) instead of a plane (land combat) and needless to say most people don’t like water combat right now.
Reasons vary, but the reasons would be shared between water and air combat thus defeating the point of even trying to make it in the first place.
To name a few, you can’t use AoEs, water combat also limits the use of some utility and elite skills, people hate this specially when you talk about things like Dagger Storm for example.
Then there’s the fact that water combat makes use of another set of weapons that people simply don’t bother learning, and speaking about not bothering to learn, you’d be amaze to know how many people don’t have a “sink” key assign, by default “float” is assigned to Space but to sink you have to assign one yourself, thanks to this people don’t even know how to control their char in underwater combat how are they spouse to learn how to fight underwater to start to enjoy it?
I promise you’d feel like changing regardless of your initial choice.
Now imagine if this was the kind of MMO where you get stuck with 1 weapon type, 1 play style and can’t change your appearance or hair what so ever.
At least in GW2 you can easily change it a lot after 80, your play style and it’s purpose, weapons you use and you’re not stuck with an armor/weapon skin just because it has better stats, and for some unic looks mix and match is pretty easy too.
Changing race is just an illusion of potential freshness, you’d get bored again quickly.
Can it be done? Of course, reset personal story and it’s pretty much done with no problems already.
Meanwhile Anet could sell these kits like the makeover ones so they’d make money instead of people paying for powerleveling.
About fighting miniatures, can you imagine 500 of them with 5 different skills each? How would you balance that? Plus a cool Masterwork one would be unviable against an Exotic?
Here’s my suggestion, choose a miniature, then pick a class/profession/set-of-skills for it, much like what you do on the current PvP wintersday, heavy gunner and so on.
This would actually make it viable.
I see a lot of problems and possible solutions, meanwhile the gain on implementing such a system would be minimal.
Just look at how long the LFG tool took, this is all easy on paper, in reality you need a lot of working hours to implement.
Right now you can create your own guild and have only 2 people there to share stuff like mats and gold for example, apart from sharing account bound items, you can do most of the stuff you’d want from a partner system like this, and you can do it right now for free.
Here’s an idea (…) If a human character wants to craft something it has to go to Divinity’s Reach (…) And to ensure this is the case remove the crafting stations from WvW and Lions Arch. (…) And to ensure people visit Lion Arch remove the Trading Posts from the racial capitals.
In this way the key services are distributed fairly while causing minimal frustration.
Causing minimal frustration?
Need I remind you people often use BLTC delivery NPCs right next to the crafting stations just so they don’t have to run back and forth 50 times?
Imagine if they had to WP to another city…
The only way to populate the capitals (properly) is to add and adjust stuff like WPs to make navigation easier, then I’m sure people wouldn’t mind to be there.
Making the in game stuff less accessible to force people into a bottleneck will only bring rage.
The rarity coloring is preserved as the highest between stats & skin.
Add high-heeled designs for footwear / boots / shoes / armor...

Are people really worried with how hard would be to walk? And give speed debufs? The Winged set has high heels already.
As for realism there are MUCH bigger fish to fry, every time you get killed you WP to life, 100’s of times, an Ettin smashes a club on your head an all you get is knocked down, there’s a health bar…
Having said all that the real problem is creating the assets.
We’ve been getting gloves helmets and shoulders because…? They’re easy to adapt between races.
Excluding Human & Sylvari, the playable races have very different body shapes.
So for a chest piece you have 4 races (joining the 2 alike) x 2 genders x 3 armor classes, and that’s not even counting the slight different body types on the character creator, I remember I had a female human engi that had a lot of clipping problems.
Do all the math and for 1 chest piece you provably have hundreds of variations that have to be molded.
If we do get the Tengu I’m guessing legs and shoes are gonna be automatically hidden, possibly even gloves.
(…)For all of the things I didn’t like about SWTOR, a shining victory to me was the fact that they gave me many opportunities to to do the wrong thing while being either faction.(…)
If GW2 had the TOR story mode (including the mechanics) it would almost be the perfect game on my book.
And I would like to see GW2 go on the gray path buuuuuut that could mean duel in PvE which is a big no no for Anet.
I mean think about it:
Players on the human side defending settlements.
Players on the centaur side trying to get their land back.
Who wins? Who ever kills the NPCs faster because you can’t touch other players?
And don’t forget when people kick someone just to have a friend of theirs in for the final boss, or even to sell it on the LFG.
It should be at least 3 votes, ideally 4.
Now I (as everyone) can think of ways that wouldn’t work, but honestly if you’re having that much trouble just quit it and look for other people.
But problems like this aren’t that common (thankfully), I’ve been here since release and always done everything PUG without any real problems.
You can try to go on starting areas and ask on /map if any new players need help.
Also, you can use the LFG tool to advertise you’re teaching a dungeon path for example to new players.
In short, make yourself available and let them come to you.
and after level 80? whats the end game content out there?
Normally I’d say if you’re having fun you’re doing it right, but I really can’t this time, specially because I’m pretty sure you aren’t.
If you got the game and you’re champ farming to 80 to then look at other stuff you’re wasting a lot of content, including absolutely beautiful scenery and basically boring yourself to death.
What I’ve noticed so far is that if you run on low graphic settings the loading time is cut drastically(…)
Well that says it all doesn’kitten Your system is to blame (mostly), not anet.
When you use a WP, even in the same map, all the server has to do is move your position in world, simple as that, x,y,z.
You computer on the other hand has to go on the HDD and load everything that’s needed, if this was poorly programmed you wouldn’t notice much of a difference between high and low, it’s a case of fetching a high res texture instead of a low one for example, the overall speed of your system will determine the length of the loading screen.
As for your suggestion, trust me you wouldn’t like it, immediately load the world in low res and then progressively start loading in high res would be too annoying, all that pop in and all, but I get it why you’d like it, champ train, right?
Now instead of putting anet resources on doing something “useless”, you can try guest on a lower population server so by the time you get to the champ he won’t be down already, look at a swiftness, creat a chat tab where only the links to the WPs show in order. Hope that helps.
looks like it is going to be permanent….
so, we can tell the future generation of GW2 players that once upon a time, on that side of the lake, there were trees…..
Sounds good to be, it all hints that there will be a scar left but it won’t stay as is.
Hope they keep changing the world map like this, the current living story really shows they can do it without interfering with personal story or new players.
This is never going to happen.
One of the reasons is different armor classes clip like hell. When the game launched you could preview different types of pieces together, and admittedly you could do some cool combos, but like I said before, it would clip like hell.
This was as an issue that ANET took seriously so much so that for a while you couldn’t preview any type other than your own while they worked on a solution, and the solution they found was the current, you can only preview one type at once.
What Shirk.6421 said is another story, you’d basically had a base class (Ranger, Warrior, etc) and then an advanced class (that would depend on the armor type you choose).
With ANET working on adding new skills, this would be a great opportunity for it.
Make a option that allows me to fully explore the world (if i already did it once on one lvl 80 character, and only for newly 80 lvl characters) but forfeit any future rewards i might get for exploring the whole map (i’m talking about items from full zone explore and the gifts of exploration).
So if my main has 100% world explore. Let my alt have a option to loose all explore rewards but get 100% world explore also.
I like this idea, but lets expand on it a bit.
Instead of complete world unlock, lets limit it to waypoints that are commonly used (ones near World Bosses, Champ Trains, and World Events).
You don’t want to kitten your Alt’s from easy EXP.
But in return, no map completion on the Alts (no Gifts) but you can still complete each zone for Leveling up rewards.
If all you want are the WPs just run there and get them, why waste any dev time with this when there are bigger fish to fry? :o
If you think this game is boring and repetitive you haven’t seen nothing yet
And all that time collecting them is EXACTLY what gives them value in game, if you could swing an axe an get 5k soft wood logs they wouldn’t be worth a thing, the same way as if all the gear (legendaries etc) was handed to you it would be worthless.
The temples give about 30 Dragonite Ore by the way.
The ascended weapons aren’t meant to be made in a day, literally because of the cool downs.
But it seems to me that the real problem is you don’t like it anymore, you can’t just try to turn it into something else.
well the specs are there to be able to run MMO’s now! and with more online content there’s going to be a move to more online gameplay
What you mean now?
Anyway, the biggest problem I see is the presentation.
Lets face it, GW2 aren’t winning any prizes, and that can be a big issue. For the target audience it’s fine because they (MMO players) know it’s not about that.
Console players on the other hand used to master pieces of cutscenes like in MGS, ME and so on might be disappointed right off the start.
I tell you, on the Sylvari personal story when Caithe kills that NPC, MGS on the PS1 had better animations.
Don’t get me wrong, I love GW2 (+PC gaming in general) and I love consoles, just don’t mix them, really it’s two different things.
(…)Plus are you forgetting that GW2 is more than 24GB? That’s a lot to run on a console.
MGS4 is nearly 50GB.

The commander tagged should be hard earned, not a money sink.
To fix the commander tag ANET needs to refund the people that bought it and implement the “earning it” method.
And this comes from a player that can afford the tag for his major 4 chars.
Use an invisible bag, problem solved.
Anything in an invisible bag won’t be automatically deposit and it won’t show on the BLTC sell tab.
Are you using any overlay programs (like the map event overlay thing)? I’ve seen a few cause that.
No I’m not, nothing at all.
I do use D3DOverrider because my system has screen tearing problems and that takes them away, other than that is just the bare minimum.
And I forgot to mention, it was when I pressed O, then I started clicking on the icon and the same thing happens.
First I thought it might be a program on my system that updated and somehow was sending me to my desktop (as if I had pressed Alt-Tab), but now its happening even when I use my mouse to click on the BLTC icon on screen.
Further more the BLTC its not working at this time as it stays in indefinite loading.
Why would you wanna powerlevel to begin with?
That’s half the fun and it gives you plenty of time to learn it and try different things before you finally commit with stats and weapon combination.
Instead of making it safer for those of us with quick fingers, lag or even people with short attention spans. You are now disabling us from our own inherent human flaws. (And everyone knows, everyone has flaws.)
Seems to me that if you click ONCE and wait 2~3 secs you’ll have your problems solved.
As for refunds, there’s nothing stopping you from reselling double purchases (that wouldn’t happen if you WAIT 2 seconds).
Sure you might lose a small percentage of your money but it’s nothing major unless you’re talking about something like a legendary.
Now take a minute to think about what you’re really asking, its pretty much barriers, right? How long do you think all of those barriers will take to become unbearable?
Remember in these forums how much people complained because titles weren’t visible? And they weren’t worth getting because people would only see them if they target you and it would be so much better if they could actually see and it would give incentive to get them, remember all that?
ANET gave in and what happened then? Everyone started raging for them to go away because they were polluting the screen and were annoying as hell.
It’s broken in parties.
Every other stat in the game benefits the entire party in some way or another. You either kill the enemy better, or you prevent the party from dying. Magicfind is a stat that disadvantages the entire party due to sub-par stats and only benefits YOU.
I always do everything with 150~160% MF including dungeons and I never had a problem.
I traded my defence for MF and kept the offensive and STILL I’ve been in a situation where all the others get killed and I’m left do finish the boss alone.
Am I to blame? NO. If you can’t guarantee your survival don’t make any excuses.
You can only complain about MF dragging the party down IF the player using it keeps dying, if he doesn’t (like me personally) there’s nothing you can say about it.
At best, and this is a very slim complain, you can be “upset” if the playing is not using full zerker gear for the dungeon to be quicker, that’s it.
In short, MF only benefits the player using it, BUT, it only handicaps the players using it too, I have to work harder not to get killed and if never go down (proven by the 25 stacks of the MF sigil) there’s nothing you can say about it.
(…)The whole give/take with MF gear is a great trade-off, having to give up a major stat to get a small MF stat. Makes the game more challenging and ups the reward for doing it.
(…)
But with my new method and an average of about 135% I am getting a bonus chest about every 3-5 minutes, lots of times two or three from one little encounter. Awesome!
(…)
So please Anet, I know you want to revamp things, but this IS NOT BROKEN and it is not something a bot can really take advantage of easily. Please rethink your plans, or at least insure that we still have the option to outfit for increased reward by giving up some other stats. It WORKS PERFECTLY!!!!!!
It is a great trade off, and if you think about it it’s like the hard mode people have been asking for, and it’s there since day one.
About the rewards listen to someone that’s been using it for the last 10 months (7 for the full set), the drops are not that significant, reality is you get the living story ones one way or the other, dropping a rare/exotic item after a trash mob is still pretty hard, I did got a precursor and abyss dye already, would I have gotten them without MF?
Lastly ANET is not gonna back down now, they’ve been working on this for a while now so you just have to take it.
Question is, what does that mean for my gear?
Am I getting my money back or turn the gear into something that will apply that amount of MF to my account?
Will I have 150+MF on my account like I use now?
At the end of the day it’s just nerfing, the cry babies that never used it because they didn’t wanna open hand of a major stat will now get it without sweating, for people like me that had to work hard all this time it just seems unfair.
I like the idea of a Guild Hall like we have the room in Bully (R* game).
Basically as you progressed you’d get souvenirs all around it, also having a build ability would be nice and because these would be instances (not mainstream places where everyone could go) I don’t see the problem of offering a lot of freedom even if it risks “breaking” the game.
Likely, they were said to come back.
…even if they’re rather pointless. They’re pointless how? You need the stuff to craft Sentinel armor, and that stuff’s been getting expensive. Are stats on it useful? That’s debatable, but there are probably people out there that would like to have it.
I want it, I have my weapons and trinkets all Sentinel and Soldier armor because Sentinel armor is about 25 gold a piece, I’ve been waiting for it to drop because I’m sure it will.
(…)Just as those who can’t get 1st place in Sanctum Sprint beg over and over again for someone to give it to them because they “don’t have the achievement.” Well, if you can’t achieve it, then you don’t deserve it! Simple!
Like that time I was first on the last bit, you know the half a circle before the finish line?
So there I was first with a guy 3 or 4 steps behind, I was gonna win when suddenly I see the guy throwing himself against the rocks, that was weird and suddenly I realised I was second…
Turns out the guy exploited the layout and crossed the finish line the wrong way around to steal my victory.
I called him on it and the guy was really surprised playing dumb and not understanding why was it such a big deal.
You’ll hardly see me rage but if I could get my hands on him then there would have been blood.
And that reminds me, I tried to report him and none of the options seemed appropriate, how can I report an exploiter?
I never farmed CoF P1 so I shouldn’t be bummed, but I am, why?
Well I keep hearing (now) how much gold people are making and how is it going to go away.
Meanwhile ANET still hasn’t buffed some crazy long exp paths that no one ever wants to do because they aren’t worth the time.
(…)Those chests had very good armors without having to compete in tournaments.
You know the heavy armor gloves you can get for free?
I got 4 of those on the achievements chests…
2 ascalonian greatswords and so on, most of what I got, I got more than one.
I’m wondering if someone tags along for the story they’ll unlock the achievement.
For example, a Human helping a Norn in its story, will the (guy plays as) Human get the achievements of the personal Norn story? Or doesn’t that player actually needs to make a character of each race and do the story mode?
By the way, its only till level 30 for the Achievement right?
I really don’t want to sound insensitive at all. However, speaking for practicalities sake, there is a phobia for almost everything. And a-net catering to the phobia isn’t a help to anybody.
I agree.
I’ve actually seen on TV therapy using CGI spiders, his fear just got outta hand and he needs to get on top of it.
I have vertigo and when ever I used to fall in a game my heart got squeezed and I held my breath, not peasant.
Still happens some 50% of the time but I’ll just keep jumping and I know it might happen at any time.
I’m also afraid of really tight spots (like a pipe) but I don’t avoid them, and yes I used to flip out.
Bottom line, he shouldn’t avoid them.
If you give into the fear, the darkness comes
Broken Sword <3
The Dragon Bash would have been the perfect opportunity for this, the whole investigation thing.
If you’re talking PvP, yes the established builds are the way to go.
If you think WvW you get more freedom to experiment.
PvE is all you can think of.
I remember my ranger started out with GS/SxA and now its just bows, it’s not every MMO that offers that kind of diversity and room to change when you start getting a bit bored of the character
But at the end of the day you can never expect a class to excel at everything or be great no matter what you come up with build wise.
And as always, if some of your suggestions were implemented you could get really, really OP stuff
Coolest thing about them is how few there are in game, lets keep it that way.
They really just need to buff the other dungeons/paths.
The research has been done… By they players.
You wouldn’t have “everyone” running CoF P1 like they do if it wasn’t so profitable.
