So ? You have 4 Infused Fractal Capacitors, what is your point? You wanted 4 of them , you made them.
His point is imo valid – u do last version just for look, it doesnt give u other benefit.
Like countless other players did with countless other items, at the time he made a rational decision, just because things changed he shouldn’t come ask for refunds.
I don’t go asking for a refund if my clothes go out of style.
This kind of attitude hurts the game evolution, honestly I bet the people responsible for refunds are wishing this update never happen.
Also because their hands are so full they’re likely asking for more people to help and now you have the investors/moneypeople wondering why the hell they need to hire and pay some extra salaries to deal with something like this, in the future they’ll just say no to any change like this, that’s what you get.
And you wanna open hand of the stats?
I agree with the stones part, it should be free till level 40 at least, everything else no, you have no reason.
Like you said, if you level an alt and you don’t wanna explore the map for traits, you can buy them.
If you are actually new the game is just encouraging to explore even more, what’s wrong with that?
You know a new player can level 2 characters to 80 in GW2 and by the time you hit the cap you can already have enough money to buy a full set of exotic gear WITHOUT ever repeating content? Just by doing map exploration and the events you encounter, killing every mob you pass by and gather from every node to sell your loot.
So much for your statement of Anet forcing the Queensdale champ train, the train is just the laziest way to level up and get some money, the normal way IS viable.
Lastly I’m surprised to hear someone say it’s too hard (no evidence by the way) when PvE was always trashed for being way too easy.
I was in Queensdale leveling a new alt yesterday and there were a group of “experienced” players berating and bullying a first-time user for fighting a champ out of the order of their precious train. They went so far as to tell him that he wasn’t allowed to do champ events out of order and told him to either fall in line or stop playing.
I literally LOL’d
I hate bullying, but honestly a new player can’t kill a champ alone, he’d be lucky to stay alive long enough.
So often times thats just a seasoned player or two doing it on propose with the clear intention to upset a group of people they know it’s out there.
Anyone who’d rage quit over this is not someone I’d like to play with.
Zerker still has the highest damage output, combat in GW2 is still pretty quick compared to other MMOs.
ATM, having Liadri is the only way to gauge player skill.
I didn’t have time to play that patch, no Liadri for me.
But I do agree it would be great to have permanent forced solo hardcore content with very exclusive rewards to hand out.
Minis would be ideal, armor/weapon skins not so much because lets face it, if I don’t like it I won’t enjoy wearing them.
As soon as I finish my first set of ascended armor I’ll instantly reskin it, it will lose the prestige but oh well.
I’m glad the spike damage isn’t as spiky anymore, but it’s also gonna be frustrating chasing down someone and not have the power to put them down.
I hope they introduce more content like the Marionette so I get to see all the idiots laying dead on the ground.
Seriously half the time I had to finish that thing alone.
If other sets get a stat increase I would think that zerkers should get their stats back to where they belong. Its not the gear that is the problem. It is peoples attitudes and mob AI.
As neither one of these will change. I do not see the zerker meta changing. I also don’t see efficient game play as a problem.
I’m sorry, but vs 1shot what did you want?
The enemies to dodge? After that they’d still get 1shot anyway.
They blind, block, push, if they up the frequency of that there would be no end to the rage and you’d have the same problem, 1shot.
Now what about the non trash mobs? Specially in dungeons/fractals where you have a 5 player limit?
Same story, it’s a case of all zerkers kill it as quickly as possible, anything goes wrong and someone dies here comes the rage fest, others are to blame because they aren’t doing it fast enough, “the enemy was allowed time to kill us! How dare they?!”
In a trinity MMO 92% of the players go for DPS, 7% tank, 1% heal.
In a game like GW2 DPS didn’t need to be over the top, players already love to play a damage class even if they’re heavily dependant, but thanks to way crit damage works in GW2 playing anything else just looks silly.
SteamOS as a lot to prove before a company like this puts any money towards developing software for it.
Personally I wouldn’t spend a dime, why?
Only PC players are excited about it, do they need it? Not really, it’s gonna be the Wii all over again, after a couple of months who ever bought it already forgot about it.
Console players are the ones that could use it (maybe) but they’re already settle with known platforms they like, it’s unlikely they’ll buy a steambox, doubt they’ll even heard about it.
If we were placing bets I’d bet it will flop, specially since apparently Valve wants to push out versions of the steambox every year or every other year, which again is a mistake considering their biggest potential target market, console players.
I always looked at MF gear as hard mode, harder fights for greater rewards, but the zerker-only-good-for-trash-mobs players nagged Anet to death till it was removed.
Betting they’ll stay the same since the majority of people will buy one skin once, if they buy it at all.
I’ve only bought the primevil because I don’t like any of the others.
Maybe I’ll get the phalanx but I only like the female boots really.
Report how? How would Anet keep the data from every dungeon run and what data exactly to begin with?
Best solution for this is go1 or 2 friends, and/or open.
Also the eternal more than 2 votes for a kick.
Crafted 2 Incinerators.
Soon (april 15th) one of them will become 2000g worth piece of junk.
Think of it this way, you’ll have 2 genuine ones, the real deal.
Sure if people apply the skin on an ascended you can’t tell the difference, but they’ll still be fake like a reproduction and you’ll still have your originals.
A new comer should got for 100% map completion before anything.
While at it he should gather from every node and kill every mob he comes across.
On the (half) way there (100% map) he’ll reach level 80, by that time all those mats and loot sold on the TP will be enough to afford a full set of exotic armor, weapons and trinkets from the TP.
No repeating content, no replaying areas, no grind.
Now the problem is people want it YESTERDAY so they’ll happily farm the same content to exhaustion because it’s the fastest way to get exp and/or gold, and then cry about how grindy it is.
Kessex Hills was massively changed too, I’m not sure if you’re complaining, if you are, the general sense of the community is very positive about these changes.
You need to wait I believe, it’s certainly safer.
You have to learn your underwater weapons and assign a sink key.
Other than that and some unusable utilities it’s exactly the same, every time the underwater daily comes up I do it, at places I pull 5~10 mobs then kill them all.
Putting it shortly, you’re doing it wrong if you’re dying all over the place.
You can play it your way, make sure you advertise your party properly.
If you join one with a guardian thats asking for zerker warrior, don’t get surprised if you’re instantly kicked.
As for Arah, same thing, if you wanna do a normal no skip run, say so in the LFG group.
But if you don’t have the time or you might have to leave suddenly there’s plenty of other content to do, WvW, world bosses, etc.
The limited time ones will definitely keep climbing, in a few years it can reach pretty ridiculous prices but that’s part of the fun.
Sucks that back then I wasn’t using any guides to do things, all I got was nothing done and no achievements, stupid me.
You can get around extremely easy on GW2.
For the people saying they wouldn’t mind if it was just cosmetic with no added speed, you’d honestly only use those for the first week if you consider a typical mounting (as in getting in the mount) animation on an MMO takes 1~2 secs.
I take it by cooling board you are talking about those stand/cradle things that you rest your laptop on to cool it?
And yea, the initial laptop I was looking at on custompc.ie has an i7 processor, and Nvdia GTX760M graphics card. I think I might go with that after all and try to get my hands on a decent cooler.
Depending on the case you might want to take off the access panel underneath so the cooling board will work better.
Dust? Honestly it will get in there regardless.
A laptop will run much hotter than a desktop specially with games, anything you can do to cool it is always welcome.
You should always use some software to keep an eye on the temperature too, where’s a good one openhardwaremonitor.org/ remember that will likely only register till 95 degrees, so needless to say you wanna stay at 70~85 tops.
Also if you’re handy (even so this is not recommend) you can take it apart and be more generous with the thermal paste, costs about 15€ and you can look up a how to video on YouTube.
Yes it works, I gave the anonymous hood to my ranger from my thief.
No, it doesn’t remove armor restriction, medium skin can be used only by medium armor classes.
I would wait till the April 15th update, since it will be WAY easier to apply an unlocked skin (such as starter armor) to any other gear.
Well… Maybe easier but not cheaper.
Right now you use a stone to unbind, move it to the 2nd character then a crystal to get lvl 80 stats on it.
The new system will use charges, 3 stones = 1 charge, so you better of doing it now.
Similarly, right now for a full armor (
under level 80) you use 6 stones, after patch it’s gonna be 18 stones.
I used to experiment a lot while leveling, stones are (were) easy to come by, and specially before luck was introduced when armor on the TP was dirt cheap, after patch I won’t bother till level 80 which is a bit if a shame.
Ok, so I live in Ireland, and I want to get a decent gaming laptop which will be able to run GW2 pretty well on more or less max graphics settings, even in “hectic” in game situations. Although, I suppose I’d be hard pressed getting it going pretty well on max even in the hectic situations…so if that’s not quite plausible given my budget I understand. Yes, I know there are issues in the game code that cause things such as having a super powerful gfx card not mattering so much due to how the game code is.
Anyway, I’ve been looking on a custom pc build site and I have a page saved of something I thought looked nice:
http://www.custompc.ie/msi-ms-1492-14-with-nvidia-2gb-gtx760m-133931-p.asp
I had selected these extra/custom options:
RAM – 8GB
Hard Disk 1 – 120GB SSD
Hard Disk 2 – 500GB HDDHow does that look for running GW2? If you find something better on the site feel free to suggest to me by linking here, but I would say my absolute limit on the cost would be ~€1250.
I’ve spent 1200€ on a laptop 3 years ago and it can play GW2 in high settings at a cool 20~25 fps so you can get it unless prices in Ireland are ridiculous (sorry didn’t check your link).
You’ll need an i7, and a cooling board, I have an aluminium one with 3 fans I can’t remember the brand but you definitely will wanna get something like it, cost about ~60€.
Lastly for God sake don’t play on battery, don’t even have it on if you can have it plugged regardless of what you hear, 3 years later I can still get 4 hours off my battery because it’s almost never on the laptop and that’s the best way to prevent decay.

Hello, I am Tempest Leaf. Greatest Warrior EU and just MIGHTY, I come to the Devs Almighty as my ability to spam 2 with my greatsword is not solving my problem.
(…) since they are bad I shall call them Rangers, I think my computer got affected by a “Ranger” and now my once sexy, powerful warrior… (…)
If I had more time to play GW2 and nothing better to do I’d get on my Ranger and take you along to solo some champs, see who would fail first.
I hope they don’t mess up the monthy progress with patch and they reset on patch day.
It happend before, (can’t remember what patch)and I had to redo some of the monthies that were close to completion.
I think you mean the time they switched from 60 champions to 60 veterans.
Easy to understand why they did it.
So in other words. It’s put in place to fix the low population problem.
You know. Kind of like how they do with server merges.
Where do you see low population problems? Specific servers at specific times? How come everyone complains about overflows so much if the population is that low? How come I never landed on my main server during the LA event regardless of the day time I was playing?
Where exactly are you getting that idea?
No offence but your questions make it sound like you’re doing something dodgy.
For your peace of mind, think on the current system, you can guest randomly on a server and without knowing which one you are in you can’t use what ever node tracking software you are using, but, if you’re there with 2 characters they’ll both see it because their placement is independent of a player being there or not.
So your two or so characters will see the same node if they’re in the same map together side by side.
This feature update is actually why I started playing GW2 again. Well, and I finally remembered my password, but that’s a whole other story. :P
As for content, I’m sure there will be more content soon.
Also, ZudetGambeous, ESO is terrible. It may have plenty of new content, but it’s a less-than-subpar experience.
WildStar and ESO are both P2P. Believe it or not, you can play both games if you want, without breaking the bank!
I play EVE and GW2, myself. I know, unimaginable is it not?Edit: Can’t believe Isn’t…. It is censored on this forum.
You may think that, but the plummeting GW2 population tells a different story.
Plummeting? Says who?
Ah right, the megaserver announcement means the game is dying?
It does. It’s just a server merge under a different name.
No, it’s a way to get rid of the word Overflow on the minimap that everyone started to hate despite having valid reasons or not.
On high population maps it’s gonna still work like an overflow, they’re just trying to get the negativity out of it.
It’s also a way to answer to the countless treads people made about “reverse overflows”.
Even on the lowest populated maps like Timberline Falls you still find people, last week I came across 6 players there while doing my daily gather, which for a map like that on that time window it’s pretty impressive.
Something like Gendara will more often than not throw me in overflow, and these days with the WvW new AP I get 150+ people queue for EB and 60+ for each BL.
To be clear I mean showing the skin of the male armour on the female frame.
From a developer point of view it would probably be easier to make it again from scratch, it’s not as simple as adapt to a female body.
I think the biggest problem in GW2 is the variety, not just of races, but body types within the races and genders themselves.
Other MMOs (without saying any names) just swap (or paint) the head and call it a different race.
I applaud GW2 for doing it the way it does but unfortunately it means a piece of armor that looks the same across all races and genders (like radiant gloves for example) needs a lot of different versions, and something like a chest piece goes without saying.
So personally I’d like that time to be put into new armor sets instead of reworking old ones for the opposed gender.
I used to sell stacks of silk scrap to NPCs because on the BLTC it was just 1c more, and the taxes would made me lose money.
Should I get compensated?
People that did dual wield legendaries did so consciously at the time.
Anet can’t compensate players every time changes are made, changes that by the way are often times demanded by the players themselves.
Personally I think legendaries should turn account bound but not be able to apply the skin on something else, as is their value is residual, but at least you know each one had X amount of hours put into it, being able to endlessly copy them among your characters won’t be any good.
It would be much worst if you could only WP to racial cities and walk from there.
Honestly right now, there’s no place you can be that will take you longer than 2 minutes to reach anywhere else in game.
Even with the new system you’re talking about a short walk, the double cost is up to you if you think 30 seconds is worth 2 silver.
All of this effort was made just to get rid of the “Overflow” hovering on the mininap.
Just because people got a bad attitude towards it, and a “can’t be done in here so I’ll just sit iddle” mentality.
This megaserver won’t be any different when it comes to megabosses fights, you’ll still be in a map with 100+ players that you don’t know (because even on your currently home server you never do) and the event has the same chance to fail.
I’m dying to see the map chat and the excuses that will come up this time around.
It will populate empty maps and that’s a very good thing, but make no mistake regarding mega bosses, most players will still be in their zerker gear dying all over the place in Teq for example then pointing the finger to everyone and everything but themselves.
I’d like to see the repair cost to stay and introduce “repair time”.
As is every piece of armor + back piece will get in damage state before anything starts breaking.
Keep that as is, but a damaged piece would take 24 hours to get repaired, meanwhile if it breaks add another 24 hours.
That way there is a serious consequence on dying, the problem is it could easily back fire making everyone run for dear life.
I’d still like that system to be implemented for a month on a experimental basis.
TwilightStorm.7159:
… I guess I can still feel exclusive with my Fervid Censer. gigglesNope, I’ve got one also. Sorry about that.
You’ve shattered my dreams
I could not possibly agree w/ the original poster more. I’m feeling really duped and ripped off.
Thank you Daddar. My main ‘issue’ here is not so much the dyes. More the duplicate legendaries that I have worked hard for (I have 2 incins, 2 sunrises), which others can now dual weild for free. But even worse than that is the fact I don’t need 2 of each, and feel kind of … bad for basically having spent 3000g on those two for nothing but ‘switchable stats’. I would very much like to see some form of compensation in the form of letting me choose another legendary skin.
Although of course I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting this.Again, I really like the update, I just have a bad taste in my mouth over this.
Here’s a way to make you feel better, you had the bragging rights when it was hard, back then you made the decision of going for them, you did and you had something to show.
Think about cars, a cheap car today comes with stuff that decades ago only high end expensive cars would have.
It does suck and I believe my suggestion would be a better way to do it, but if nothing changes you shouldn’t let it spoil your fun.
Here are some tips for you:
Level your characters one at the time, clearly you’re not enjoying it (as easy as it is) and like you said you have to switch to your main to keep yourself sane, so doing it one at the time just a bit everyday will help you ease into it.
By the way, you label yourself as a casual but you have then end game mentality, that’s a bit odd.
Pick areas for your characters, Kryta, Magguma Jungle, Shiverpeaks, Ascalon. This way you might stay away from a place for a while and when you get back you’ll most likely find it refreshing, I didn’t like the Brisban Wildlands when I was there with my first 2 characters, but with the 3rd I’ve actually enjoyed it.
Aim to complete the current map you’re in, this will give you a guide line, also, don’t forget to pick every mat and kill every mob while you walk around, the mobs will help you build muscle memory.
Don’t shy away from a fight either, go for those vets.
I’d like to be able to switch out my armor 2-5 times a day, all depending on what zone I’m in.
Clearly the best solution for you is extra bag slots and invisible ones in them.
Now I find it a bit funny you mention SWTOR when character customisation is (or at least was) much much much worst there, I played it for six months and everyone looked the same, before they introduced the color sync you could look like a rainbow clown.
For the first 3 or do months everyone was getting on rakata gear and looked exactly the same, on the fleet the only difference you’d see was body volume, and since every race was a human or at best a face painted human, that was limited to just 4 different body types…
In GW2 there is much, much more choice to customize your character, spend enough time on the editor and you can come up with something very different, and when that’s done you can freely pick the color of your armor pieces and easily mix match them.
A walk around LA (or the Vigil keep now) or a stroll in WvW and you’ll hardly find 2 look alikes. Even when people wear a full armor set (like primevil) the race, weight, gender and coloring of the same armor ensures the diversity.
I honestly feel pretty unic walking around Tyria, and the crowd doesn’t trigger any deja vu either, just wished people didn’t settle for the pre set faces so much and put some time into it.
Heres a solution for you.
Pay to unlock another 1 or 2 inventory bag slots, put your 6 costumes there, change at will free of charge any time you want.
I don’t think you get it but you don’t have to pay to change equipment, just to transmutate.
When you say 1-15 areas you mean Queensdale right? Because no other starting area has a “champ train”, not for lack of champions on other maps, just because Queensdale is figure out easy to go.
When you say make it interesting, the only thing that interests people is profit, they’ll flock where ever there’s profit, now this may not be “working as intended” but at least is bringing people to areas that were empty.
If you get rid of rewards people will go away, then what? New players are few and far between, and they won’t be able to take out these champs, this way at least new humans get to cut in and get some rewards, every other race has to go over empty maps unable to do any champs and most of the events on their own.
I’m not a fan of it, but at this point its a bit of a necessary evil.
First problem with underwater combat is that you have to assign a “sink” key, like space is assign to float.
Second problem is the players don’t even bother learning their underwater weapons, they just randomly spam every attack.
Third is the fact not every utility and elite can be used underwater and players end up just throwing anything there.
In short, theres nothing wrong with underwater combat but the players lack will for it.
The only difference from land to water combat is the movement, you go from moving in a plane (land) to move in a volume (water), and different weapons and other utilities, not learning how to is the only real problem here.
I believe that is only local, don’t know what they’re cooking there but I don’t think it’s something wide spread.
If there weren’t for waypoints (that exist in lore) ruining the feel of distance and travel that place would be actually much cooler since it’s fairly far away from a major city.
You’d think that bubbles would make an appearance if he had conquered the entire sea by now, at the very least we should’ve seen some of his minions. There’s something stopping him, we just don’t know what.
If deep underwater it’s his domain, why would he come to land?
Why would Jormag go deep underwater?
I think the real reason is not even the devs know but at the same time they’re happy just leaving it a mystery.
The lore in GW2 is really awesome but they really struggle with the presentation, lets see what they can do now with Mordremoth, I have a suspicion if players don’t like it that might be the last dragon we face and bubbles might never have his story told.
I’ve seen a lot of people campaigning about on patch day making “zerker only LFG advertisements”, I bet you there will be plenty of zerker only groups failing dungeons and getting all over each others throats pointing fingers at each other accusing one another of not being in zerker.
A change like this is always gonna come with big controversy.
Personally I don’t have anything repeated across my 6, maybe 2~3 dyes, but not 1 piece of armor or weapon.
So for players like me there’s nothing to complain.
For players that invested in repeats across characters, those are seriously affected.
This talk about the convenience of stat change is just kitten, how many stats does a player use? 1 or 2, 3 at max? Not to mention right now it’s only the weapons which makes no difference what so ever.
Come the update legendary skins on ascended gear will be impossible to tell apart since the name will likely be purple, and since GW2 is all about skins, the little residual bragging rights value a legendary has right now is gonna be even less.
Frankly I think legendaries should turn account bound, but not able to use as a skin on other weapons.
Dyes should have repeats refunded by color, if someone spent serious gold across the toons for high end dyes getting ui dyes in return is a huge loss, getting the dyes themselves would at least allow them to sell so they’d break even.
As for gem store and cultural skins these should have an NPC buying them for gold (say ~25% of their original value), not the most elegant solution but at least people with repeats would get something in return, needless to say if you sold skins you don’t have repeated you wouldn’t get them on your wardrobe to use it later.
It will work just like a skin that you can apply, basically what ever stats you have on your Guardian backpiece, it’s the stats that will keep.
If it just happened suddenly it sounds like a problem in your connection.
Go to speedtest.net and see how your values are, specially the ping since is often overlooked.
Since it’s just the color I wouldn’t worry or try to settle, you can change it every week just so you don’t get bored too quickly.
2. Will my guardian be able to use my warrior’s ascended armor as soon as it hits 80, or will I need to relevel armorsmithing?
You don’t need to relevel but you need to craft another set since the armor on your Warrior is already soulbound, even when the patch hits, its still just the skin you can transfer, for the stats you need to craft another set.
3. Same applies to weapons and weaponsmithing^(obviously my ele isn’t using a greatsword anytime soon :P).
All the items that yup craft are at least account bound, so you can craft things to your other characters.
I guess as a postnote/final question, am I right in assuming there’s now only several ‘groups’ of ascended items to go for:
1. Berserker weapons
2. Berserker armor(3 sets) and accessories
3. Condition weapons
4. Condition armor and accessories
5. WvW weapons
6. WvW armor(3 sets) and accessories
Idk what you have heard but there are more than just zerker/condi gear.
The ones you can buy in WvW are no different from any others, they aren’t special or specific to that mode.
Take the God kitten target info from the top of the screen!
Countless are the times I’m aiming an AoE, get too close up there and the thing just casts at my feet.
+1
It makes all the sense in the world.
