I don’t see your problem.
You don’t wanna buy it, you wanna earn it or craft it.
Alright, even if Anet introduced Precursor crafting, that would demand an enormous amouth of mats, around 400 gold worth of mats.
So whats stopping you from go out and collect a metric ton of mats, but instead of using them for craft the thing, you sell them and buy the thing?
Is there really a difference? After weeks or months of grinding for mats, clicking a few buttons on the crafting menu VS clicking a few buttons on the trading post makes that much of a difference?
You’ll still get that satisfaction of working hard for it instead of farm gold.
In a MMO, cosmetic is a primary part of the game and each cosmetic item need to have a price tag.
Player submitted skins could drop from champion bags.
1) Someone put a lot of effort to make a freaking cool item, even better that any other legendary currently in the game. This item would be free to download and anyone could put that skin on their weapons.
Already addressed, if they drop from champ bags like the current ones Anet is not really making any money by selling them (on the gem store for example) but they’re also not being handed out for free.
2) Someone could make a replicate of Volcanus or any weapons in the game and it would be free?
They’d be submitted for review to prevent things like that and others like replicated lady/gentleman parts.
Now, we can change the steamwork concept to fit it better in the MMO in general. A system or tools created by Anet that allow people to submit their creation. With a good tools, ppl could be able to create a big part of the job Anet need to put to create new items. Of course Anet will still need to put work on these item, to polish them, make change little things or fix bugs. They would also need to add some codes, since they can allow ppl to have access to everything. They would also need to put a price and a way of to get that item (crafting, mystic forge, drops, gem store?). But still, this kind of system could allow the community to do half the job Anet need to do to create new items (cosmetics).
Since Anet would still need to put some work, not all item could be implemented in the game. Some selection would be needed. Maybe players could vote of some of their favorite skins each months. In the shot run, the creation of this system would cost a bit more to Anet, but in the long run, as more and more item come from the community and not only from them, they could save money and do some really great PR with their community.
Yes this is what we meant.
And Anet doesn’t need to create any tools, all they need is to tell people the resolution they want for the mesh and the skin and the memory limit.
The rest people will just use something like Maya or Zbrush (that Anet already uses by the way) and job done, you’re basically letting your audience do your work for you.
2nd phase – regular gateways, some slow mobs (like Shadows) trying to slowly reach the boss. Once they reach it, Behemoth gets temporary boost to attack speed and he heals itself.
That’s the Caledon Forest Wurm mechanic.
On another note, for people that complain about often fails, if it didn’t fail often it would be called easy content.
The reason why Teq is “hard” is because most players are in zerker gear, they either spend more time running back than fighting or just lay dead on the ground.
Not to mention after a few minutes instead of going back to DPS Teq they’ll stay at the turrets, so you have 40 people there instead of the spouse 5~10 and no one by Teqs feet.
I wish Anet would make more bosses immune to crit damage because as is people just pile up and deal over the top damage.
On the Knight fight instead of splitting into 3 groups people would just zerg one at the time, not because of slim numbers, simply because it was easier this way.
steam has the “steam workshop” implemented on certain games, which is a system that allows players to submit their creations for review to be implemented ingame (…) and the creator actually gets a cut from the sales of these cosmetic items.
Maybe a one time gem payment to people whos work get in game.
I got over 2000 badges just by getting achievements in pve.
In the old days the “way to get them” was to farm the WvW jumping puzzles, because fighting for them was for “suckers” I remember someone somewhere calling them Badges of Jumping.
I didn’t care for legendaries then, surely not now.
They were made wrong from the start, before anything everything legendary related should be soulbound, then things like every jumping puzzle should be required, maybe every slayer achievement, emergency response hero, etc etc.
Basically something you’d get with time and dedication, not farm and grind, I’ve seen people with 2,5 AP with legendaries, they seriously look more and more silly as time passes because the only thing they ever got going for them was the bragging rights, and that pretty much gone now.
I’m sorry but first in line is the Shatterer then Claw of Jormag.
At best MAYBE let them submit weapons and armour for review to get them featured in game.
Maybe then when they needed to make them fit every race and body shape they’d shut up with silly complains.
The other day I saw someone reporting a bug on the Stag legs because a tiny bit of the toon heel would clip while he was running…
Oh noes! The “mastery of all aspects of play” rewards ask you to WvW a few days.
Yes its harder than it was before – some changes to strengthen the theme/flavor of rewards do in fact mean players have had it too easy in the past.
My thoughts exactly, I wonder of people can still get badges by farming the JP like they use to, Mesmer up!
Well.. play a Mesmer.. movement speed just becomes a slow motion blur after a while.
I would hazard a guess ANET would make a tidy pot of gold each month if they only introduced long lasting speed buff pots. I wouldn’t mind in combat movement reductions if base movement for many classes wasn’t so miserably slow.. its like watching paint dry running across maps like Orr, Straits etc. where active WP’s are all but non-existent.
Are you serious?
Just turn the camera to the side while you run, even basic running is faster than an Olympic gold medalist, with swiftness you’re neck to neck with a sports car.
And without movement speed reduction you’d never catch a Thief for example, it’s a game mechanic that players have been trying to get rid of and if that day ever comes they won’t shut up till it gets back, just like what happened to titles.
I’ve always played alone.
Before 80 it was a pain to try to get people to do any content with you, it always felt like they were doing you a big favour.
So I got to 80 on my on and by the time I got there I had enough gold for a full set of exotic gear.
Thought I’d join a guild then, so I did, a few, ones after the others.
In all of them the story was the same, you had a few top players that got access to the guild bank (deposit and withdraw, basically making it an extension of their personal bank) banner spawn and later on, guild missions.
Sure you could ask in guild chat for help as much as you’d like, all you got was low level players.
The only time you’d hear from the guild leaders was if for any reason you weren’t representing “you’re denying influence to your guild” one once told me.
I’m sorry, my guild? What did the guild ever done for me? That was the last drop really, I just made my own, I’ve only allowed my brother to join, and guess what, already have 250 bank slots there, all that influence would otherwise be enjoined by some guy that never did anything for me.
When I wanna do dungeons I’ll just host it and PUG, don’t owe any favours to anyone.
On the rare occasions I get bored with GW2 (just so I answer your question) it’s NOT because I play alone.
Hey guys i just started playing again, only to realize there is no one to play with. I started a ranger (he’s close to lvl 20) and I’ve seen maybe 5-6 people while leveling. No one to do those grouped dynamic events with. Anyways can anyone suggest a server that might be more active in PvE?
You had to be here on release, now adays everyone just farms specific events.
If you go on Queensdale for example at any time of the day there’s a group of people farming champions there.
What I wanted to say is that maybe not everyone is max level, but surely everyone is bored.
I have 5 lvl 80 and I’m not bored, then again I have 1200 hours played across 520 ish days because I don’t have any more free time.
Why are you bored?
Grind like crazy for gold?
Grind like crazy for mats?
Speedrun wall stack on dungeons?
Repeat after me… ’It’s just a game & she’s a fictional character’.
So thats spouse to be a get out of jail free card?
Why not have Braham kick Taimi in the head when she gets all Asura on him?
Personally I’m not upset Jory said that, she can be an idiot about it if she wants. And I can understand if people get upset about it specially since apparently everyone jumped from the hate Scarlet train to the love one.

Tengu starting area is the general idea of the community.
Personally I think it could work, it would be cool to see more greenery and have pirate factions fighting over it so we can have enemy NPCs there with new events and champions.
I’d also like the idea of the council be disbanded, maybe prosecuted and hanged although that could be a little to much.
Either way, I don’t like to think it could return to the way it was, just no way.
So even if they keep it a city and services return, leave it mostly destroyed, add some make shift shacks maybe.
Also as far as personal story goes, I want the PS LA instances to be old LA, that would be really cool to go to this destroyed city and when you get in an instance you can see a vibrant city. Many games show you places before and after they were destroyed, but in GW2 being able to say “I was there before all this, LA used to be a city full of life” it doesn’t get much better as far as trying to create a living world.
I honestly think the idea of going for LA was a challenge the devs brought to themselves. The lay line could have been on any other map.
LA was the central hub and every character personal story passed along it, if they could trash it and make it work then they’d know they can do what ever they want to the rest of the world.
Heirloom merchant back for a day or two

I honestly thought they’d just be there the first 2 weeks, grinded to get both potions to have something special and it ended up being there for 4 weeks.
and the ones near the bank tackle me just for passing through. I did their job and this is how they repay me?
My thoughts on this was that it seems really unrealistic that Scarlet’s minions didn’t loot the city first. Even if they couldn’t steal all the valuables from homes and businesses, leaving all that coin in the bank didn’t make sense.
I thought it was a mistake having all those coins there in the first place.
It would be the first thing authorities would evacuate, but even if they couldn’t, the Aetherblade pirates wouldn’t leave it there even if they weren’t after the money in the first place.
I guess one way to look at it is the event didn’t happen along 4 weeks, that’s just a game mechanic, it happened much faster say a day or two and no one really got the chance to get the money out of there.
Now they kick you to prevent looting.
WHERE IS THE PACT AND THE AIRSHIPS THEY USED TO FIGHT ZHAITAN?
The orders and specially the Pact were created to fight Dragons, not protect Tyria in general.
LA was an independent state with its own police/military, no one else had authority there, at best happon request other organizations could come to aid.
Imagine the Iron Ligion marching into Divinity Reach and tell the Seraph they got it from then on.
Ellen was pushing for more surface to air defences, the council was against.
Why? This can go as deep as you like to over think it, so if you like you can just easily imagine the amount of money that would cost, maybe the council preferred to keep and steal that money for themselves because even if things went wrong they’d just get the hell outta there with their pockets full.
I seriously hope in the future the story gets delivered better because I can’t blame anyone for missing out on most things.
This would be a perfect time to change LA to be a player/guild housing zone in addition to other services!
Let us buy spots from that ruined city and rebuild it that way:)
This is what I’ve been asking since launch. Too bad LA alone would be way too small to have non-instanced guild halls.
It’s not that small, plus they could split it into say 10 areas and auction them for a month.
Really nice money sink right there.
Sure only major guilds could get their hands on it but frankly, you think a 10 player guild should have a hall? If you look at housing on other games that’s when it starts falling apart, is everyone to themselves.
So how do we all rate the end of LS season 1
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

9/10.
I don’t understand your complaints, people.I’m genuinely curious here. Are you being sarcastic? If not, why do you rate it so highly?
Why would a high rate be sarcastic?
The delivery wasn’t brilliant but the story really came together at the end.
I’m guessing a lot of people didn’t quite get it and are here complaining about it.
I wouldn’t blame them because like I said, it was poorly delivered specially since some of the best bits weren’t even in the game.
Can we fail it because of that? I guess, but shooting down a high score of someone that did got everything is just wrong.
I have to say I don’t really like them, maybe the mace but even that feels too flimsy.
My favorite GS is still the Ebonblade, why can’t Anet go back to more believable ones since we have plenty of this style already?
And don’t let me start on swords, the only good one is the infinite light that goes for about 1300 gold x.x every other is just way too chunky.
Hopefully it will never be the same again, it was kind of lame how they blew the statue on Halloween then rebuilt it exactly the same.
If LA just goes back I think the idea of a living world fails.
I think the only problem is the psychological impact, if people don’t see other people around they might just think the game is dying.
Right now people are kind of spread between capitals and outposts with crafting stations because there’s no central hub.
Personally I like it since it’s a change of scenery and it doesn’t take freaking for ever to load (like old LA did), but like I said, if people take it as a sight of bad health specially since ESO is coming that might be really bad.
I loved the peaceful look, didn’t got much time to explore it (so correct me if I’m wrong) but I’d love to see cemeteries on the refugee camps, also the destroyed thumpers around the world map as a grim reminder because I think they’re just all gone which is a shame.
Kindof dangerous to have nothing for 10days

World of Warcraft will have nothing to do for almost a year before their expansion releases.
^ This.
Frankly I have plenty of prema achievements to do that are always post prone because of daily/monthly/LS.
Why does everyone think we’re OP?
Because when you go on youtube and type Thief vs Zerg you see things no other profession can pull off.
No. This is a reward for defeating Tequatl. If you want to have a chance at the skin, you need to kill Teq daily.
And you can kill Teq daily and not get a single one after a year.
This wouldn’t be a problem if the players didn’t complained so much when Laurels were introduced.
The idea there was having people working for the stuff instead of buying it all with gold they already had, I really liked it but a lot of players just went loud with “no new currency for new items” because hey, the least you have to do the better right?
If Teq had a token system when after X kills you’d have enough I’d do it because I like the skins.
This way I just got my achievements on the revamp week and didn’t went back to this day.
Warrior, is the most simple and straight forward profession with lots of room for mistakes.
I have no trouble choosing a target, my problem is my target is CONSTANTLY DROPPED and has been this way since launch with no sign of it being fixed.
I am totally with this assessment of the issue. My target shouldn’t change unless they stealth or I tab to switch. It’s been irritating since the start of the game. It has gotten better to a degree, but it isn’t where it needs to be, that is for sure.
The only work around is CTRL + T, the T to get back on it every time the system decides that butterfly over there is definitely up to something no good and you should take care of it right away.
It works. I don’t mean to burst A-Net’s bubble with the whole, “ground shaking” idea of removing the trinity, but there’s a reason why every MMO uses it. It’s not as frustrating as every mob being uncontrollable; since, with no tank I guess that’s what A-Net wants. As a thief, it is very frustrating to have a boss turn around and one shot you in a split second. Everything PvE oriented is uncontrolled, and very badly structured.
This lack of holy trinity accounts for the reason why the endgame of GW2 is so bad. Raids for example are not feasible since it would be too hectic, and not very fun. Dungeons are the farthest you get, even then as a melee you’d be constantly hopping back to dodge a backswing, that you might as well re-roll Mesmer.
I don’t know about others, but while forming groups for dungeons there is always a need of a tank, A-Net will never officially take away the trinity anyways, guardians will always be there for tanking. As a thief, will always NOT tank.
With the holy trinity everything is controlled and theres no “WTF” unless it’s your fault because you didn’t move out of the bad. WoW’s endgame is very much so superior to GW2’s, and will forever be, unless some sort of trinity is occurring. And GW2 will always be inferior for this reason.
This is all kinds of wrong, you are responsible for your survivability, even as a thief, if you keep dying get off the full zerker gear.
Personally when I do dungeons with pugs I bring my sentinel warrior because I just know I’m gonna be picking everyone from the floor with a spatula, is that what you mean by “needing a tank”? Because honestly I can’t (and I shouldn’t have to) take a hit for you, YOU are responsible to keep yourself alive.
And why would you want a holy trinity anyway? To queue for hours waiting for a healer?
As far as end game goes, no, what you have in WoW is a gear treadmill and an expansion on the kings birthday.
You basically sit around town while you wait for the next run you’ve done a million times before.
With GW2 every other week or so there’s something new to do, frankly I would quit GW2 if it got like WoW.
I like GW2 the way it is, can it be improved? Obviously, should it be molded to try to please people that don’t really like it? Absolutely not.
The problem is it’s more trouble than its worth, it would get old soon, it would bring a bunch of new bugs and support tickets and at the end most people wouldn’t care about it after a couple of months.
Not to mention even after you minimise the thing can pop up again for no reason, I’m not even talking about changing map, as you move around and events go on an off the thing can show up again just because apparently.
Exceptions dont really matter though 99,9% of the time the zerg wins, I knew somebody was gonna say that they won outnumbered etc. If you watch an equal match up in tpvp , 4v5 is almost impossible to win .
Its like saying that the rewards are good because you got a precursor drop , its so rare that it dosent really matter.
I’m on Desolation and we (very) often win fights in open field outnumbered, its not that rare.
I don’t play on PvP, but in WvW a 4v5 doesn’t have a guaranteed outcome, not even 3v5 and if we’re talking about a Thief just look up on YouTube “Thief vs Zerg” and see who wins.
WvW, this is where zergs shine, AoE cap limit cannot kill zergs, only a zerg can take a keep and the bigger numbers always win , not much to say there.
Not true, I’ve been in a “zerg” outnumbered 3 to 1 on open field and we won, I’d paste screenshots of the action if I was on my computer right now.
scale the door’s HP with the players around. Taking a tower solo should be possible without any ram or whatever its called.
This is, and I cannot stress this enough, a TERRIBLE idea, 1 guy solo face rub a tower door? No.
If you are downed , you shouldnt prevent players from stomping you, you are defeated , you lost, there shouldnt be any second chance unless your teammates helps you at his own risk. Maybe take 50% more damage while ressing or something that prevents this perma-res non-sense.
If you’re down you’re not out, you haven’t lost yet, it’s a core game mechanic. Should it be better balanced so some professions wouldn’t be OP compared to others? Sure, removed? No.
Now about lag, skill lag has been improved IMMENSELY from the early days of the game, as it is now it’s actually much better than I ever hoped for, I honestly didn’t think they could do it.
You probably suffer from frame rate drop, thats 100% client side, i.e. your computer, try to lower character detail and especially character limit.
Tengu. Kodan if there was scope for personalisation.
I’d like to play a quaggan, especially if they went into rage form when they withdrew their weapons. But that seems optimistic
lol, that would look quite cool, reminded me of how Asura get their ears up.
In all seriousness, only Tengu will be (if any) the new playable race we’ll ever see, none of the other races were ever set up to be playable regardless of how cool it may be.
I see a lot of Largos fans, as easy as it would be to gear them up, the really cool thing about them is how rare they are, I can frankly only think of 3 places on the entire world map where they show up (I’m sure there are more), having them around as players in big numbers would kill them.
Hylek are one of the lesser races, so are Grawl, Centaur, Skrit and the ragging Quaggan, all of those will hardly ever be playable guys, just live with it.
Here’s a cool idea that Anet could fit in nicely.
Have a library with archives saved from LA.
Go in and talk to one of the keepers (depending on the subject), choose a topic and it would open a cutscene with a voice actor talking about what ever topic you elected.
The cutscenes could be made just like most in game, stylized art.
This could be replayed when ever you wanted, and more and more chapters could be added.
For money saving sake, the voice actor could change depending on the story you select, so while adding new topics any available actor at the time would do the trick.
Text could be lifted directly from the wiki to make it more time efficient for the writers.
Frankly, we already have something like this, it’s called the woodenpotatoes channel, 98% of the lore I know about GW2 I learned from that channel, Anet could even ask him to produce this and all they had to do would be the cutscenes to match the audiotrack.
(edited by Dean Calaway.9718)
So the miasma gas got blown out to sea? But I thought the gas can be redeployed by those canisters. I mean the wind is always blowing. The only way to keep the miasma gas going is by deploying new canisters.
Unless Scarlet “ran out of gas” just before she can finish the drilling. >_>
It’s called “suspension of disbelieve”.
If you start to over think a game like GW2 it all falls to the ground.
That being said, going in every hour was just a game mechanic.
Remember on the first Halloween when the lion statue was blown? Well if you were in game you were a lucky man, I as long with most of the player base wasn’t and there for missed it.
Anet as (rightfully) moved from these one time events.
Although they still exist in “lore” like this miasma one.
Basically what happened as far as lore is concerned was she came in, started to attack, we went there to stop it and rescue people, the gas was deployed and we had to get out, wind blows it away, go back in and finish the fight.
The hourly event is just a game mechanic so everyone can enjoy it.
The biggest problem about magic find is Anet never officially mentioned how it genuinely works.
By the way if I’m wrong and they have in the meanwhile please post a link.
So basically what you have is some people that did a little math, made some assumptions and BAAM, that’s how MF “works”, and the community has been rolling with it as fact because some say, or the wiki says.
(…)I really do miss the semi-sandbox feel with traditional quests but at the same time a lot of aspects with that kind of system are flawed too.(…)
Flaws like making the game more linear?
On every game I’ve played I’ve always loved to just explore and stop and look.
GW2 is no exception, but frankly it is the only game I’ve played where I felt genuinely rewarded for exploring!
In other games you can MAYBE find a chest or a secret, in GW2 you’d level up just from exploring, and I’ve absolutely LOVED the no traditional quests.
Those honestly tend to be just rail-road-bread-crumbs, in GW2 I went where ever I felt like, doing what ever I felt like, never felt forced or guided much less punished for not following a path that other games just lay infront of people, I had an amazing time the first time I’ve leveled a char.
Now back to topic, like it was mentioned before, you can use /me and post what ever you like,
ex: /me kneels down picking up the rock from the ground infront of him dusting it off with his hand before getting up again.
I never RPed in GW2 but I know if you’re relying on pre-made emotes (gestures), you’re doing it wrong, dare I say I seasoned RPer wouldn’t use pre-made gestures at all?
The limitations I do see in GW2 are lack of town clothes and no interaction with environment, like sitting on a chair, but you can easily forget those.
(…)
The sylvari are an exception since in the lore, somewhere, I think it says they were modeled after humans since a human planted the seed.(…)
Are you sure about that? First time I’ve heard this, and you have Sylvari from another Tree which likely wasn’t planted by a human and he looks just the same.
(…)
I’m surprised nobody suggests a variant human (Canthan, etc.), possibly with a new profession. The advantage would be obvious – all existing human armor already works.
That would be even worst than the races on SWTOR where they basically just throw in a face paint.
Besides, lore wise, there’s nothing stopping you from playing a character that run away from Cantha, when ascended trinkets were introduced some came with flavour text that hint they were smuggled out of Cantha.
As simple as a title. Or a town clothes shirt that said “I got to fractal level x and all I got was the tshirt”. Again if you actually read the thread this has already been answered. But the real thing we want is for them to say “we aren’t going to do this again.” At the moment with this whole sham “evolution of fractals” our levels are still in jeopardy and they could and might do it again in 6 months. That’s why we aren’t shutting up about this. We do not want it to happen again. Is that so wrong?
That t shirt idea is actually really cool, only I have a sneaky suspicion they don’t even have that data anymore.
And I wouldn’t lose any sleep over reset of levels again because it almost certainly won’t happen, what will probably happen is unlocking past 50.
Lastly, before I go away and stop checking this thread because there’s just no reasoning with some people, most of the time Anet stays quite is because they don’t really have an answer, yes they originally said it was unlimited but it wasn’t really because it wasn’t built quite right.
At least now they did made AR possible to raise indefinitely so in the future you can also have indefinite levels.
Have you ever thought maybe right now is capped at 50 because they haven’t finish working on the trickery that’s gonna be introduced above that so you can really have a treadmill that raises giving you the opportunity for some real bragging rights this time around?
first off
the reset wasnt to level 50, it was to level 30.
Even if you think +50 was exploit, +30 was not.(…)
First off, I never said they reset it to 50.
So when you’re done assuming things you can start wrapping your head around the concept of a big company where people can’t talk without PRs and red tape and made a decision they thought it was best.
What would have been the difference if they reset it back to 50 instead when you said it yourself, people can fairly easy get there?
You’re wrong, but let me argue this in your terms.
The developers said that at release they only thought people would get up to level 50. You may not have been around at release, but at that time you could only have up to 30 agony resistance.(…)
I bought the game at launch, so I was very much around.
You’re still hanging over this and throwing your tantrum because I mention that fractals were never spouse to go beyond level 50 in the first place, thats really tripping you isn’kitten
Still hanging on “but the devs said unlimited”, they say a lot of things don’t they? Want me to list some of them that never got to be or you wanna start being a grown up about this?
Again, to the POINT of the thread (by the way to who ever may this concern, reporting can back fire if the reported is not actually violating ToS), the reset and the compensation, the whole point of this thread, which is what I was discussing in my first post.
They made it into something “different” and reset the levels, what did you want?
Stay on a level that wouldn’t have been acquired under the new mechanics?
You should consider yourself lucky it wasn’t all the way back to 10 or 1.
And what would the compensation be exactly? Maybe some loot, for people to say “not good enough loot”?
What would be fair?
That last cutscene was amazing! like, i don’t know how to put it any other way. it was fantastic. And i also liked animation interaction between Kasmeer and Delaqua, not just because ya got 2 chicks kissing’ each other right there XD but honestly, it wasn’t just the normal animations that you’d see from an average scene. The motion between Rox and Braham could’ve been something like that because it did look a little awkward. but then Kasmeer and Delaqua just took the cake lol
That’s because normal GW2 cutscenes use all the same few standing animations plus the “gestures” animations.
Extremely limited and honestly a bit weird for this day and age.
I remember MGS that was out in 1998 had better animations on the cutscenes, and mind you the PS1 had 2MB of RAM.
I’m not expecting GW2 to have cutscenes like Mass Effect, Uncharted or Metal Gear, but I wonder how expensive it is to rent a cheap old mo cap studio for some basic stuff, specially because the ingame movement (direction change for example) is actually quite nice.
(…)
Also, people have this tendency to shout “semantics” as if that is a substitute for a good argument. Words have meaning. Please use them properly.
I used the right words, no edits on my posts, you on the other hands are trying desperately to play words to get things your way, and you aren’t even that good at that so I’d suggest you shouldn’t try to win this on a technicality.
My original point stands, you couldn’t go past 50 without serious bending.
And the core of the matter was, the reset.
After the rework they reset because it was something “different”, what propose would it serve having a level you didn’t climb up to under the new system?
A revive orb or a few (and I cannot stress this enough) profession SPECIFIC skills could never be considered a normal intended and ONLY way to beat content.
So either people did it consciously, or like I said, naively.
Frankly, your insistence is just making you look bad, not me, if you seriously thought there was nothing wrong with it, you were naive, which is strange since you’re trying so hard right now to look clever.
Lastly, people weren’t banned over that because it would be plain stupid to do so.
Just like they aren’t banned for so many other things they do in game that eventually gets fixed.
There are plenty of people that never got a ban even after they exploited the karma for gold.
Don’t try to dress that as some sort of evidence on your little case.
She doesn’t have to be totally gone, she can be brought up, we can find new things about her, even half finish plans can be picked up by other characters.
it just occurred to me that I’m totally playing into your hand. From here on I will not acknowledge anything you post as it is derived from a place of ignorance. You do not know or understand fractals.
Slander is the weapon of the defeated, you don’t know me to say such a thing.
Ok. I’m going to do this one last time. This debate has been rehashed over and over in the fractured thread, which is now archived if you’re interested.(…)
You’re just arguing semantics and playing on words.
On release you could buy things with karma and sell them for a big gold profit.
You could use a Mango Pie to win on Belcher’s Bluff when it was first introduced.
List goes on and on and on and on.
Hey, it was overlooked, its not doing anything bad right? Just a game mechanic.
You have to be seriously naive to think there was nothing wrong with using a revive orb or a couple of well timed profession specific skills to keep going.
Can you really say with a straight face you thought using a revive orb was an intentional game mechanic to progress on fractals?
What if I didn’t have one of those professions in my party?
I love reading these kind of threads, makes me hopeful for some great future stories.
That said lets not forget at times it seems the players put more thought into it than the devs themselves, like gargoyles?
Now here’s my opinion on the matter:
It’s said that what she saw was not what she actually saw, in other words, she didn’t actually knew what she saw.
If the soundless can mentally block out the pale tree, loosing ones mind could have the same effect, specially if there were voices and nightmares involved that prove her mind got seriously affected.
Doesn’t mean she got corrupted or disconnected from the Dream.
What could have happen then?
In the final cutscene it appears the blue line goes directly to Mordremoth, I think this was unintended.
I think the intention was to show the entire lay line network being disrupted, as in the entire planet, Mordremoth woke up because frankly he was the last still sleeping.
All the other ones woke up on their own, they didn’t need anything that massive done to wake them up.
Why would Mordremoth need, or be dependant, to wait for someone to “peek” in the “eternal alchemy” (one in a quadrillion chance of happening) so he could corrupt that someone and make that person do everything Scarlet did just to wake him up?
She did what she did because she got crazy, as far as we know the voices in her head might not even been from Mordremoth. His awakening might have been an accident.
The dragon painted on the cave makes for a strong argument, and we can talk about it till the sun explodes, like how could she think a dragon would rule Tyria? We already have some of those and they cause nothing but trouble, besides, dragons aren’t friends with anyone they just do their thing.
What would Scarlet gain on waking up this last one?
The others are already destroying Tyria somewhere on the planet, and we know they can be killed.
As for the corruption, it’s said Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption,.so how could she been corrupted?
Having that said, I’ve always said in my opinion that the Pale Tree can be a means of spawning dragon minions.
Not a champion, much less a dragon herself, JUST means to spawn.
Lets not forget, the foundations of the Pale Tree are based on Ventari’s table, it’s the corner stone, the very pillar of the Tree moral code, and most important of all, it was a completely random event.
No other Tree (and we know for a fact there are others) have a Ventari tablet.
Can Sylvari be dragon minions that were unnaturally influenced by the Ventari tablet? I think they sure can.
Nightmare Court say they are what Sylvari are spouse to be.
Can a Destroyer be corrupted by Jormag? Not that I know of, I don’t think Dragons can corrupt each others minions that could easily explain why Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption.
if you talked to Magnus after Scarlet encounter then you will know what im talking about.
stop trying to boost players ego as being “that thing that did it all”.
our characters should be part of the story as humble soldiers not the main characters.stop using the “i did it” thing.
i dont know if you catch my point but i wanted to say this.
the living story is great but has there is a lot cliche in it.
I know EXACTLY what you mean, it’s like going in old LA and say “Hey everybody, I just killed Zaithan” yeah, so did everyone else.
The problem is writing a compelling story for the player when he’s not the focal point and the “hero”, a story like that might come across as underwhelming.
That say it is possible and I’ve seen it nice done in other games that I’m not gonna name here.
Easier than jellyfish? Have you ever entered FOTM?
Is there a point to this little remark besides catering your ego?
Now, to my original post:
Fractals use to go only till level 50, you could cheat your way up with exploits you could go higher, but you weren’t spouse to or it was never intended.
Let me preempt your response. No, using ranger pets or res orbs or even guardian tome was not made an exploit until months later(…)
If it was made into an exploit IT WAS NEVER INTENDED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
My point stands and you just added to it.
Stop me if I say something terribly wrong.
Fractals use to go only till level 50, you could cheat your way up with exploits you could go higher, but you weren’t spouse to or it was never intended.
When fractals got reworked and reset they did so for everyone, it was pretty much a new page, something unlike the thing before, so the old levels you might have had meant little or nothing.
What exactly would you want as compensation and why?
Okay I’ll stop you at your first sentence.
When they first came out the hard cap was at 80. There was no soft cap. A few months down the road they placed a soft cap on level 50. But there were many individuals who had fairly gotten to level 80 by then. Don’t accuse people of cheating when you don’t know a kitty about the subject.
I’m not going to bother responding to your second paragraph because we have been over it before.
Right now we aren’t asking compensation because we know it’s too late. We want recognition and a developer to say “we understand it was not the best situation. We do not intend to do it again.”
Please read next time.

You could’ve either used res orbs from the cash shop to get past maw, or timed guardian tome properly, or used ranger pets.
Please, don’t be an kitten to people unless you fully understand the situation at hand.
Edit: Let me preempt your response. No, using ranger pets or res orbs or even guardian tome was not made an exploit until months later, when, as Lilith said, they changed the mechanism of Maw agony. Even then they still allowed you to do 50+ odd runs.
I see you’ve edit your post, in the video I saw (not sure it’s still the same) it was the fire shaman, easiest boss and one you can’t stack behind something so it doesn’t look bad.
And I said run as in a full Run.
Stop me if I say something terribly wrong.
