Not sure if someone did something like this already, but what the hell, my oldest screenshot and a recreated one today:
tdlr: why not help someone outside yourself. Just takes a few seconds in many instances, and you help everyone including yourself???
I’ll put my 2 cents on this, when you spend A LOT of time explaining simple stuff to people, and they still don’t get it, it starts to get old.
You’re basically asking people to type the same stuff over and over and over again for the next guy and the one after that, and the one after…
Don’t forget this is an MMO, now in your romantic view that might mean adventuring with other people, playing a story or making up your own in a wonderful world of magic…
What it really is, is GRIND, and a lot of it, people will find the most efficient way to collect what they need and do it till they fall asleep.
Remember the early days, people were spouse to collect Badges of Honor by killing people in WvW so they could use those towards building a legendary weapon, and what did they do?
Group up to exploit the jumping puzzles in the borderlands with Mesmers so they could rack up those Badges of Honor as quickly as possible, then complain in the forums on how it was a terrible experience…
Lastly I’d advise you to point the finger at yourself and go on starting areas helping genuine new players, see how that goes and how rewarding it is.
I’ve always been active in GW2, got everything Ascended and all that jazz but never bothered with Raids.
If I were you I’d look at something else, Raids are nothing but a couple of hours of screaming with 9 other monkeys, I know this because my brother has a guild that Raids, or tries to.
Total waste of time, you didn’t find it curious that you cannot find anything in the LFG regarding Raids?
Unlike the popular opinion in these forums, where people swear hands on heart Raids are the best thing since the wheel and the community is strong, the truth is they’re nowhere to be found.
If you’re lucky you might stumble across a newly created guild trying to do some Raids, which is gonna be full of people that cannot keep themselves alive and blame everyone else for their shortcomings, these disband in a few weeks.
So like I said, I’ve never bother with it since day one, and I’m not saying you should do the same or anything… But you should do the same.
I’ve seen several but I thought they were just bugs?
After getting the 4 parts and combining them I got the Enchanted Treasure Map [&AgGLBgEA] which pointed me to Order of Whispers Headquarters [&BN8GAAA=] where I found the Enchanted Key [&AgGKBgEA].
Is that everything there is to it?
Because in the wiki article shows several locations the map should be point that never did and even refers to a portal.
Is the point of the map just to get the key and nothing else?
That’s why no one PuGs Raids, you can only do it with people you know for years that you are sure they are reliable.
I don’t have time to reply to the whole thing here, but this is false; plenty of people pug raids. My raid successes are all with pugs…
False?
Let me check the LFG tool on a Friday, 6:30PM London time.
Ascalonian Catacombs: 2
Caudecus’s Manor: 0
Twilight Arbor: 0
Sorrow’s Embrace: 0
Citadel of Flame: 1
Honor of the Waves: 0
Crucible of Eternity: 0
The Ruined City of Arah: 1 <- Selling.
Mind you I’ve waited in each tab to see if PuGs turn up.
Now add the fact the LFG tool doesn’t have any tab for Raids and your case is looking flimsy at best.
For the giggles on the Open World Content tab there are over 37 PuGs selling SAB, too many coming too fast to count.
Last nail, let me /m LFG Raid. Nothing after 10 minutes…
But I’ll take your word for it, plenty of people PuG Raids, GW2 is healthier than ever, Raids and the Expansion were a great idea. Not.
Why are people so afraid of raiding?
I’ve never set foot on Raids and I’ve been playing most days since the original release of the game and have several characters on full Ascended gear, I’ll give you my personal reason on why I’m not even slightly interested in Raiding:
Not worth it.
ANet themselves said they wanted to stick with 5 player instanced content, which I personally love and think it’s still the best bet, the only reason they gave in and made Raids at all was because of pure player pressure.
Now as always these players were a minority in the forums, but very vocal, so they finally got what they wanted…
I say it’s not worth it because we all have horror stories in Dungeons, and those are smaller, require less coordination and you only have 4 other players to worry about.
Now imagine 9 other payers on more challenging content, it’s a recipe for disaster, people will rage quit or simply have to go offline because of their personal life.
Having 10 players doing the same thing for around an hour is tall order, especially because you’ll hardly find those guys again to keep trying another day until you can beat the Raid.
That’s why no one PuGs Raids, you can only do it with people you know for years that you are sure they are reliable.
Now to make matters worst since ANet wanted to make Raids loot/rewards attractive, but not ruin the economy, they actually dropped the rewards in Dungeons.
Before HoT I could easily find a PuG to do any Dungeon, one or two paths per Dungeon at least, after HoT Dungeons all but dried out from PuGs.
Even CoF P2, that you could always find a PuG at any time even before LFG tool and before MegaServer, even that they managed to kill, it’s honestly a sad sight.
But hey, they got a tiny minority happy with the Raids now, never mind a much larger chunk of the population got screwed over, that’s progress, I guess.
At least for Fractals is easier to find a PuG now…
It wasn’t gone for 2 years because it was ‘broken’ and Anet was unable or unwilling to fix it.
They deliberately removed it from the game, the same way they remove Wintersday and Halloween content each year (…)
I haven’t even played this game for a year yet, I had no idea that they removed the holiday festivals for that reason. I hope they don’t do that with Halloween ever again. That is the best festival I have seen from them, I would be seriously bummed if they didn’t do it every year
They didn’t remove Wintersday or Halloween, maybe parts of it, but not the festivals entirely.
Wintersday for example, on the first year you had the ship stopping at all the major cities, the following 2 it only goes to Divinity’s Reach.
Does it suck? Yes, it’s basically a little reash of the first year, same with Halloween, the Mad King story has been on repeat.
I hope they forget about expansions and focus more one Living Story and Festivals, the LS was getting really good when it stopped over HoT and the festivals have been completely neglected, the 2 things that made GW2 special and worth playing IMO.
There’s no “one size fits all” answer to this, but here’s one of the reasons:
If I remember right, it was the Cursed Pirate Artifact going for 100 Gold on the early days of GW2, this is a Quest item that is literally on the ground at Bloodtide Coast.
That’s because as soon as the first people got there and picked them up there wasn’t any entry on the TP, so they priced it at their discretion, as more people got in the price plummeted until what you see today, 2 Copper.
This was true for every item in the game, including Weapons and Armour, so why is it that today you get the odd item going for several Silver and sometimes a few Gold when it’s barely worth a few Silver?
Well, in part that’s thanks to Luck.
There was a time in GW2 where Blue and Green items weren’t even worth selling on the TP, because with the tax you’d get less money than if you sold them straight to the NPC’s. Still many people did and you had hundreds on Blue and Green items being sold for just +1 Copper than the NPC price, now remember like I said, there’s a listing and transaction fee, so people selling these were losing money.
When ANet introduced Luck, all of a sudden these items were worth buying so they could be salvaged not only for Materials, but for Luck as well.
So a lot of people bought in bulk items that had been left to rot on the TP, some even over paid and got rid of all the cheap ones, only leaving the more expensive ones.
Mind you most of these listings are probably really really old, since other than specific occurrences, ANet doesn’t delete any Buy/Sell orders, I have Buying/Selling orders that are almost as old as the game itself, just because you see a high price tag on something doesn’t mean anyone is buying or selling it.
Render sampling: “Sub-sampling” will make things look awful. See if “native” or “super-sampling” gives you a better picture.
I wouldn’t use Super Sampling on an R9 280 or at all, it will (on a 1080 resolution) basically put the GPU rendering each frame at about 2880×1620 then downscale it to 1920×1080 before sending it to the monitor.
Does it look better than Native Sampling? Yes.
Much better? No.
Will you feel a drop in frame rate? Most definitely.
Is it worth it? You can surely live without it.
To OP, I think your biggest dilemma will be, 1080p or 4K monitor?
With your GPU I’d go with a 1080p, even if you’re thinking about upgrading your GPU, I’ll still go with the extra frames rather than the extra pixels.
I know someone will come down on me for this, but in my opinion 3K, 4K, 8K are just stunts from the manufacturers to sell units, at a normal viewing distance 1080p will be enough to be comfortable for your eyes, and be light enough on the GPU to keep the frames nice and high.
Before anything you have to know what’s good right now.
Ruby orbs used to be really good on Thief, now no one uses those because the game has changed and they aren’t good anymore.
I’m guessing a while ago you might have looked this up, set it up, and leave it at that, am I right?
You need to know what works right now, the pieces you said costed you a lot of money, might be worthless right now.
Your best bet is to have different characters for different stuff, for example, amongst other characters I have a Bunker Warrior and a Zerker Warrior.
My Ranger carries around 2 sets of gear, Zerker and Condi, but for something like that you wanna have a lot of inventory space.
Don’t destroy upgrades, it’s almost always better to craft or buy (either gold of dungeon tokens) a new Armor/Weapons.
But again, before anything check the current meta builds, there you’ll find the recommended gear too.
Graphic modifiers are awesome, I like GemFX the best, so much so that I cannot play GW2 without shader injectors anymore, here’s some comparison shots for you:
(edited by Dean Calaway.9718)
If you want my advice don’t get a cheap PSU, I see a lot of people do this so save money but those can kill your entire system if they go wrong, absolutely DON’T buy a case with a PSU included, more often than not those aren’t worth scrap value of the metal they were made of.
One place you can save money on, is in a mainboard, since companies push these as if they will give you a better performance, when they don’t.
For example, I just built a PC from the ground up, and I used a MSI B150M PRO-VH, now typically you find those mainboards on office computers, but, if you take all my components and get them on a high-end gaming mainboard, the performance would be ABSOLUTELY THE SAME, and that’s because my mainboard is not slowing anything down.
Sure there isn’t much room to upgrade, but, with the money I saved there I was able to afford a GTX 970 instead of settling for a GTX 960.
And like I said, that board doesn’t slow down the performance of my components, including RAM.
If I were you I’d try to use whatever parts you might have, even an HDD from a console would do, and you can buy things like the case in a second hand market, then replace the fans for news ones since they’re dirt cheap.
Lastly it might be the case of just wait a bit longer and save more money, it won’t be long before a new line up of GPUs turns up and that will drive the price of the current ones down, till then you might even have enough saved to get a nice shiny new mid-range one.
If you want a character that FEELS LIKE it moves quicker go for a short one.
If you compare a max height Norn vs a min height Asura, the Asura will feel two or three times faster, even when they run at the exact same speed.
So when you’re creating a character, think twice when you are picking your height.
Why don’t you use GW2 own frame rate limiter?
Works great for me.
I’m curious, how many have actually bothered you?
I play almost every day and I haven’t seen one since the game went free to play.
You mean the character gets stuck in the animation with his foot up?
Yes, I’ve experience that, my brother too, what you do is you release W and press it again so the character starts running once more.
If you can get the R9 390 8GB go for that, future proof is always a good idea.
I got me the GTX 970 3,5GB just because some render apps I use don’t like AMD cards, OpenGL stuff not important, the important thing is I know those 3,5GB will bite me bottom soon enough, on that the R9 390 with 8 juicy GB has the 970 more than beaten.
On the flip side, games like Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 ran like a pig on day 1 in the AMD R9 390 because (and you didn’t heard it from me) NVIDIA plays a bit dirty…
Ultimately there isn’t a clear winner, the AMD has better hardware, the NVIDIA has better driver support.
Just a heads up if you’re building a new machine, don’t forget to map your fans, CPU, GPU and System fans are all separate things, any software you use might only control 1 segment, so use the BIOS to set the CPU and System fans, and then something like afterburner to set the GPU fans.
DON’T forget to look at the temperatures on the first few days to make sure you didn’t mess up anything, specially the thermal compound in your CPU cooler.
I have the worst in-game performance with both my wife’s and my desktops in this game, my wifes is a i7 2600k @ 4.2ghz with a 780ti gtx card and mine is a 4770k i7@4.3ghz with a 780ti gtx card that being said I never see cpu usage on either system peak more than 11% with gw2 running, However my gpu is pegged at around 98% usage. On both said systems I never see more than 25fps and when I try to glide even at lowest possible settings and resolution set to 1280×720 when the glider activates I get around 3 fps. I am wondering if the problem I am having is some how tied to gw2 only accessing 1 core of my cpu now. Anyone have any clue why this would be happening? I have tried both 32bit and 64bit clients.
To me that sounds like overheating.
Get some tools to look up the temperatures of the machines components.
Since I bet you have those machines for a few years now, I’m really betting it’s just dust build up that will be causing overheating and the severe performance drop.
Check out if every fan is working correctly, replace them if they’re broken, frankly for the chassis I’d just buy new ones anyway since they’re only about ~4EUR/USD each, maybe new CPU coolers too since after market ones are easy to find, either that or make sure the ones you have get VERY clean once you’re done cleaning them.
So just take apart every component, clean up everything NOT with a vacuum cleaner, use a compressed air can or a bicycle/football pump.
When putting it back together make sure you get the thermal compound back properly with the pea method, maybe replace the thermal compound on your GPU’s as well (YouTube it to learn how) lastly, a fresh windows install always gives it a hand.
My monitor is 144 hz and I experience no screen tearing. I don’t need to have Vsync on.
High refresh doesn’t eliminate screen tearing.
Like it’s been said before, the idea of limiting it is to reduce power consumption, heat output and subsequently fan speed.
It also helps if the GPU needs to boost itself when things get really intense, a modern GPU even at stock clock will “overclock” itself in certain situations if a set of parameters is meet, including the temperature, limiting the framerate to 60 can mean the difference of it dipping to 40 on a packed world boss, or only dipping to ~50.
I can easily go over 120FPS in PvE but that’s “unnecessary” thankfully it’s an option, I have mine lock at 60, lock it if you want, unlock if you want, you pick what you feel works for you.
I remember people always complaining about being bugged, even 2~3 years ago.
Maybe it’s bugged again for some reason, worth making a bug report probably.
They’re working on mine, so I’d start by deleting the playlists files you might have there, remaking them, naming them correctly and moving them to the folder.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Customized_soundtrack
Just in case you need to look at it again.
You got some very good advice already on the parts, so I’ll add to what people forgot to say.
PC is one of the most passionate communities there is, that means where ever you ask for help, someone will come, USE THAT.
If you’ve never built a PC you cannot watch too many YouTube videos about it, so watch them.
Make sure you get thinks like thermal compound right, get it a little bit wrong and it make a HUGE (negative) difference, check out on YouTube a few videos on how to remove and apply it, again CHECK A FEW, never go with just 1 on these things, there isn’t a “right way” to do it, so look for opinions.
If you want mine, use the pea method.
Also, if you’re buying a bare bones case and you need to add the fans yourself, remember some have to intake air and others exhaust it.
Lastly DON’T forget to map the fans speed on your BIOS.
That’s because software you might for windows might just control system fans and ignore CPU and GPU ones.
My latest build ran with the fans locked at 32% all the time because the mainboard came like that from the factory and I didn’t thought about checking it for a week, so DO CHECK IT and do remember you have system fans, CPU fan, GPU fans, all 3 are controlled independently.
Set the CPU and System fans map on the bios, and use the software of which ever graphic card you get to set the GPU ones.
You should make the system fans specially aggressive, because even if you break them with over use (something extremely rare) they’re super cheap and easy to replace.
Think about it, if you have to choose running the fans faster to safe guard the chips, run the fans faster.
The CPU one as well because there’s also available after market coolers on the odd chance you’ll break it by over use, but like I said, that doesn’t really happen, you have a better chance of winning the lottery than breaking a fan with “over use”.
Having that said don’t set them to run at 100% all the time, that is just dull.
Turing test… Seriously?
Lets get one thing clear, even before mega server, BLTC was a server wide system, not only that, it was shared with US and EU, not sure about China, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was also all connected as one.
So you have millions of people trying to buy and sell stuff every second, you think you can control anything even with automated programs, if there’s even such a thing? Specially with a 250 limit on buy and sell orders per click? And not only that, if you try to list too many items, you get a error message and you have to wait a few minutes.
The fact that low level items are desirable is because of the materials and the luck you get out of them, before luck was introduced you had hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of listings at +1 copper from the NPC sell price, that was the lowest you could sell them for, and the materials you got out of them for salvage were also pretty useless back then.
The changes Anet made to make these desirable were a good thing, like it was mentioned before, GW2 has some of the best economy you’ll find in an MMO.
As for the new players concern…
In GW2 you’ll HARDLY ever loot a piece of gear you actually want to use, that means you’ll have to buy it but it also means you can sell what you don’t want.
As I said earlier, before luck all these green or lower items were absolutely useless, you’d lose money trying to sell them on the MP because you could only list as +1 copper but you’d pay the listing fee and the tax, so all the loot you got was right to the NPC vendors, I sold gear like this by the truck loads, and stacks of silk scrap, STACKS, right to the NPCs because the market would make me lose money.
So at least now new players can actually make some coin by trading them with other players, whats wrong with that?
Lastly, as someone else already mentioned, there’s nothing wrong with buy low and sell high, when someone wants some money for the item they have, someone will buy it, when someone else wants to buy an item, someone will sell it.
Again, there’s nothing wrong with that.
The problem was before when you had so much dirt cheap stuff, even today you get items that aren’t worth as much as they should, here’s hoping Anet fixes that by limiting the drop rate.
They also added new Waypoints on the guild mission spots, if you have 100% map from ages ago, you missed those too.
I can tell you I got a 970 this Christmas and it munches GW2.
I would have gone with an R9 390 8GB, but I use some obscure programs that have a lot of issues with AMD cards over some OpenGL stuff that is not worth mentioning here, anyway, like BrotherBelial, AMD line up right now is really a better option compared with Nvidia, that’s just how it is, sometimes it’s Nvidia, sometimes its AMD, don’t fall for the “brand loyalty” trap because you don’t owe these companies anything.
As for how to check whats the latest cards, wikipedia.
Go there, to the Nvidia and AMD pages, you’ll find lists with release dates as well as original price among other stuff, from there you can check whats the latest on the market, then go on YouTube and look up their performance and VS one another and even VS the competing GPUs.
The numbers aren’t as hard to get as you might think, for example, GTX960, GTX970, GTX980, are just different tiers entry, mid and high end, the 980 being the most powerful and expensive, but normally you’ll get more bang for you buck in the middle range.
Lastly, a word of advice, if you can wait till spring, wait.
Right now the GTX960 and GTX970 are advertised as having 4GB of VRAM but they only really have 3,5GB of usable VRAM.
The AMD line up, like the R9 390 I mention has 8GB which is gonna be much more future proof, BUUUUT, expect a new lineup of GPUs from both companies in the spring or around it, since these cards that are on the market today are basically rehashed cards from 2014.
Till then and if you have any trouble with GW2 as far as frame rate goes, get the water reflections to none, people normally forget this and it can boost your frame rate by 10 frames a second and the water will still look perfectly alright.
Also set the population limit to lowest and quality to low, turn on the names so you can “see” people around you, but you won’t have to process them.
As the title says, I’m looking at building a new PC and being GW2 my most played game, I’m wondering how well this game fairs with 2 GPUs?
I’d like to hear from someone that is actually running the game with 2 GPUs and knows whats what.
For anyone interested in particular details, I’m considering 2 GTX 960 and then over clock them.
I’ve seen benchmarks on other games, and SLI GTX 960 delivered a better frame rate than single GTX 980, and since I can get those 2 at a lower price, I’m very interested in this option providing GW2 “likes” multi GPU tech.

I’ve logged in every day for months doing the dailies on WvW, I’m stuck at level 409 because I was saving all these and now its “so long, and thanks for all the fish”?
These are absolutely worthless, same with the Writ of Experience they changed into Tomes of Knowledge…
This isn’t the only game in town. Literally.

Umm …. it was explained that this was gonna happen ….
Well excuse me for not looking at the website everyday to see the latest news and making sure my stuff in game is not gonna get changed for something else.

Today I’ve log in to HoT to find on my inventory, among other things:
1224 WXP Mini-Boosters
13 WXP Boosters
1 WXP Booster
Only yesterday these were Drops, Thimbles and a Keg of Liquid World Experience.
I’ve amassed that many with great personal sacrifice, denying myself many levels only to log in today and see them changed into something completely worthless?
Why exactly should I keep playing this game?

Can I just I’ve been pilling up Writ of Experience for a while, have over 1000 of them and now the game is telling me to trade them in for Tomes of Knowledge…
I wanna report my frame rate drops from 40~50 to 2~10 fps.
It’s not even a matter of the new areas being more incentive, simply because I haven’t manage to get in them to begin with.
Even the Hall of Monuments is getting me ~10fps.
I have the latest drivers on everything, yesterday I was blobing around WvW as I normally do, today I made the update and unlocked HoT with a serial code, logged in and the frame rate is what I mentioned, absolutely unplayable right now even on the lowest settings.
So right now at this second 2 users are running around on Desolation BL throwing balistas absolutely everywhere, including on camps, so they can building them to drain supplies.
What’s the option I pick here?
Botting?
Inappropriate Character Name?
Spamming?
Verbal Abuse?
Scamming?
Selling Gold?
LFG System Abuse?
We have everyone on /t complaining and even recording, I’d post to names here but that would just get this thread deleted.
I’m not the kind of person to do an ultimatum but I have to say, logging in GW2 and specially WvW has becoming more and more painful, and if any mod can check lately my average daily play time must be something like 20~30 minutes when it used to be 2~3 hours.
As the title says, I’m looking at a Razer Naga Hex Wraith Red or a Logitech G502.
After searching online I’ve come to the conclusion the general opinion is:
While the G502 is better built and more durable, the Naga Hex would be better to play an MMO because of the buttons placement.
I’ve also had a look at a wide variety of Mad Catz mice, and although all those buttons look quite useful, it’s another brand famous online for the un-reliability.
Before anyone asks, yes, I’m buying a mouse primarily for Guild Wars 2, not FPSs.
So from those (also the Mad Catz ones) what would be best to play GW2?
I feel like the G502 would be the best choice, I’m just not sure about the button placement on it.
Any opinions on this would be appreciated.
(…) So the stroy (…)
There’s no end to stories like this, I’ve been playing since early days so I’d have a loooooot of them to tell you.
At the end of the day and when I’m really fed up with people, but I could really use the gold, I just solo a dungeon.
Problemo, solvedo.
They should not rerelease old items in my opinion.
It is a symbol of how long someone has been playing and that they were able to get it.
Now if you lost them my mistake then yes you should be able to get more
Not re-releasing items only decreases the games longevity. You are putting an expiration date on games that are not new player friendly. Why would players want to come into a game only to find they have missed 5, 10, 15 years worth of stuff they will never be able to have? (…)
You’re also killing it if you say, “hey, get on board any time you want, we’ll be waiting” What stops people from procrastinating then and never actually play the game to begin with?
It’s two sides of a coin, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. People that don’t have them will want them return, people that have them want them to never return.
The 1st Halloween skins didn’t return, but on the specific case of these dragon wings they might since they are account bound on acquire and don’t have a market value.
You have to remember story wise it’s gone.
I guess they could make a fractal out of it, that would be cool, coming back? Hardly.
It’s not just the most annoying, it’s the preferred for, how you say this nicely?
“Software that bends the rules a little”?
I’m just out of WvW, there’s a mesmer in EB using super speed toying around with 5 people. Fun times.
How can we force desolation players play wvw when they are losing? Deso sure won’t lack players. That isn’t problem. Maybe anet could use fake score. Deso would have queue 24/7 every map if they think that they leading match.
Actually even when we are 2~4 to 1, we still wipe you guys on open field.
You “win” thanks to 24/7 prime coverage and night cap, and lately we are stuck with all the shenanigans your daily-reward-farm-alts go around doing, including rally-boting.
Don’t, even for one solid second, think it’s anything other than that.
Right now with HoT coming we’ve seen a population increase, but maybe more than that, people are buying 1 (or a few) alt accounts to collect the daily log-in rewards that can be turned in for high tier mats then convert those to gold and then transferred to their main character.
What does this has anything to do with WvW and the coming population changes?
There’s rarely a day I log in that I don’t see some useless siege built on camps or towers solemnly to drain the supply of those spots.
This is being made by alts that were created by people of other servers just so they can disrupt their opposing ones.
Lately it’s becoming so common place they even go as far as openly mock us on open /m chat, saying how awesome their real home server is, this was happening about 1 hour ago on EB but I won’t be posting the logs for obvious reasons…
Besides that we have 30 minute queues for maps with half the people on up levels (which is the same to say, they’re alts) afk around towers while the map is mostly taken by the opposition, they’re there running to a wall just so they can occupy a spot, and nothing else.
Just have a look at the size of the problem, these screens were grabbed at 4pm London time today, I made it front and back as a comparison.
If more spots are gonna open, I think this problem is only gonna get worst, something definitely needs to be done, and I do mean aggressive action, because I really believe this won’t change the population imbalance, it will only make it worst than it already is.
I’ll add more screen grabs to show the scope of the problem, this is every single day, at any time of day, it’s almost getting to a point where playing in WvW is not an option. I’ve went from 1~3 hours of WvW daily to 30 minutes tops, and sometimes now a days I just drop by to get the WvW Big Spender achievement and get out. If this keeps up I’ll just quit it all together because frankly what’s the point?
Title is a bit misleading but I’ll drop my 2 cents.
I don’t have any issues to report regarding lag, and that’s because both EB and HBL have the Outnumbered buff for the last 1 or 2 hours! Awesome sauce.
Honestly on the weeks we play Seafarer’Blob or Far Shiverblobs there isn’t much incentive to play, this week there’s both so yeah… Not a fan of 5 to 1 fights, and neither is most people so players just disappear, like the title says.
Here’s a quick tip:
When you see all the circles, count in your head “one mississippi, two mississippi” then dodge.
Bump, would like toggle button too
Either a toggle button or have it set per character.
On my Ranger I like it on, on my Warrior definitely off. It always comes down to I notice the setting is wrong during combat and have to get in the options to change it really quick.
I don’t like it how ANet handled this.
They were basically bullied, yet again, into giving out refunds and MORE free stuff… They do this way too often about everything regarding the game.
Before I make the point of the thread, another thing regarding this is refunds for recently bought games. If you bought the game recently, you’re already playing and enjoying it and you will keep playing until HoT gets out.
Why on earth would someone in that position feel entitled for a refund? I would only refund that money if those people got their recently created accounts deleted, and when HoT gets out they can start over again from scratch. You think anyone in that position would take that deal? Probably not, because given that choice they would sure as hell rather shell out that little money so they could keep playing RIGHT NOW.
Now, the argument that “they’re giving us a new profession and no new char slot” was always weak at best, it’s one of those things someone thought about saying and everyone else started repeating.
The game released with 8 professions and only 5 character slots, they didn’t “make” us buy another 3 slots, did they?
How many players today play ALL the professions REGULARLY? Personally I even have repeated professions amongst my characters while other professions in game right now are no where to be found.
Why are people under the impression they HAVE to play a Revenant? I’ve heard the most absurd comments about this, some people are threating this new profession as if it’s going to be over-powered and it’s gonna be a go-Revenant-or-go-home deal.
ANet is really setting a bad example here, give a mice a cookie and he’s gonna want a glass of milk, I honestly don’t see why would anyone think they have the right to make a fuzz about this.
As for pre-purchase, use common sense, my rule is NEVER pre-purchase a game.
For the people that do it then worry if they’re gonna get their moneys worth, here’s an idea, how about you wait and see? What do you think you’ll miss out if you buy it a few days after it’s out?
I’ve been on since the start and I play most days, I’ve got more than my moneys worth several times already I don’t need and incentive, I’ll most likely buy HoT even if it’s slim.
And are you ready to say that, from what we have heard AS OF NOW, it’s worth the current price and pre-purchase with no release date whatsoever? PLZ TELL ME MOAR
On another note, GG WP OP, sarcasm was obvious, but I laughed
I’m not speculating over assumptions, how’s that?
Another thing most people seem to be missing:
You don’t HAVE to pre-order.
What will you miss? I title no one cares about and a mini no one looks at?
If you’re having any doubts, wait and STOP worrying.
While I’m of the opinion that $50 is not fair price for the given content(…)
Breaking news here, did you got exclusive access to the FULL HoT content that will be coming on the expansion pack? Please, we’d love to hear ALL about it. Are you ready to make a statement at this time?
I’m wondering is the expansion worth $50 bucks, content wise?
I’ll get my crystal ball on that right away.
You realized you’re basing your math on nothing but demos and betas right?
Who told you there’s only gonna be 1 new map? And no new dungeons/fractals?
And are you forgetting things like voice acting to improve the story telling like countless people have asked? With proper cut scenes? How do you factor something like that in?

I just had an idea, if the included copy is a stand alone disk that can be made into a new account, why not give it to a friend?

Does it suck for people who recently bought the game that the core version comes as standard for free? Yeah, but if it’s a stand alone disc that means you can create a new account for inventory mules, that’s what I’ll be doing if it’s the case since my 8 chars and fully upgraded personal guild bank is fulled to the brim.
Except that’s not what we’re getting. If I got a third account from the purchase, I’d be fine.
As it sits, I just feel like there needs to be one more desirable feature, such as a character slot (seriously ANet, how do you up the profession count and not make that a basic feature….) and I’d have absolutely no complaints. Or a $10 discounted version that’s just an “upgrade” for existing accounts.
I’m not going to fuss because I know I’m going to buy it anyway, but I will say I feel like they handled this badly. I know the fact this deal kind of sucks is going to be old news sooner than later. It’s just that they could have made this more palatable with very minor changes.
They won’t change it this time but maybe in the future.
If I was ANet PR I’d take the free core version out and tweet “There, are you happy now?”
Yes new players are getting for free what we already payed for, but they’re also starting from scratch.
The problem in here is that ANet is giving away for free the core game, but hey, people have always complained with all the free stuff they got so far so hearing them complain other people are getting free stuff is no surprise.
What everyone needs to realize is the expansion is (hopefully) worth the price they’re asking for, don’t worry if ANet is giving away for free a game that’s 3 years old now.
