Hey guys, is our attention span so bad that we forgot about this already? We need to continue to demand a proper response that isn’t just Mike O’Brien insulting people on the forums.

They have given the response. just because you don’t like the answer dose not mean it’s not a proper response. Time to get over it and face it, ANet are not going to back peddle. Now if this had got some traction with media outlets, maybe we would have got somewhere. But we are not in that place. Let it go. They are not going to respond now, they have not responded on this in weeks.

Um.. They didn’t give a response. Mike O’Brien replied once and insulted a bunch of people and then retreated to his hole. And why would I let it go? I paid money for something, and the company I paid isn’t providing it. This world is getting more and more complacent with getting ripped off, its getting ridiculous.

I invested 1k gold into both the GGS and GreatSaw, got banned for 3 weeks, and now they’re worth kitten. RIP investments. Wonder if holding on to them would do me more good than harm.

Depends on how much you paid for them and how long you’re willing to wait.

Assuming that there is actually a finite supply of these skins being dumped (aka there isn’t a dupe/exploit), the dumps will stop eventually and the price will go back up. It will have a much lower ceiling than previously though, which is dependant on how rare the new masterwork items are from the forge. Don’t expect them to ever get back above 1k.

Then again, I thought the dumps had stopped a month ago..

I’d assume with the daily gold inflations prices for most items will get jacked up, so i’ll get more than 300g back out of both skins, BUT I mean with Anet pumping more money into the game, its just gonna inflate the prices of just about everything in the free market, so i’ll be getting the same “low value” out of it at the end.
(think I explained that poorly)

Daily gold inflations? You mean 2g? Players making 2g a day isn’t going to cause inflation to move any faster. I can make 2g in like 5 minutes even before dailies started giving it out.

If you read the above posts looking for ideas, you’d find several suggestions for “going about it” that don’t require you re-spec-ing or re-gearing — one poster even offered to help in game.

The only reasonable suggestion I can see is to hop into pvp and change gear using the bank or TP there, and I’ll admit I have overlooked that

Paying others for help is as silly as paying others to get your event to fail for legendaries.

I killed the champion and got the achievement already.

All I’m saying is I’m tried of these oversights and stupidly “challenging” contents.

These champions in the middle of nowhere are not challenging in any fun way; they are just unreasonably annoying because you either get help and it becomes another auto-attack event or you switch class/gear and maybe spend non-trivial time walking all the way back to where the champ is. Some of the champions are also basically impossible to solo regardless of of your class/gear.

I had to do fractals for nevermore, guess what? I couldn’t get anybody interested in doing them with me because they’re not the dailies. I sucked it up and solod the ones I could and I got a couple of guildies to help me with the ones that require multiple people like dredge.

Lol, I want a button to push so I win all of Pvp.
Want it? Earn it.
Please stop with the buy to win.

Did you stop and think before you posted ?

They’ve already earned it. You get 2 gifts of exploration for your first map completion. It’s an account bound item. All the OP is asking for is another use for the spare gifts so they can unlock parts of the world on alts.

Where is the buy to win with that ?

They want to do something once and get it done three times. So not buy to win but still incredibly silly.

The things I don’t know in this game despite having played it for so long.

Absolutely, You can reskin it back. And as you asked you can apply the skin to as many weapons you want. Even level 1 white weapons. The effects are attached to the skin so you’ll get the footfalls, the auras, the effects, sound effects, everything.

No, go do world completion. Its easy, its fast, Its rewarding, and I’ve done it 16 times and am planning to do it again. If you can’t be bothered to spend a day or two to do world completion then just spend a couple of hours grabbing the major waypoints.

Then the average player must be lower than what I expected.

Problem also occurs when no one is saying anything in /s because they are just doing there own thing. To be fair it has been months since break bars were introduced so I would have guess players would have figured out what to do.

lower what? Are you genuinely trying to imply that ArenaNets failure to have in-game information about bosses and mechanics is the “lower” players fault?

Would you take a kid from school, who’s never played or seen baseball, make him play baseball, dress him up and make him pitcher, then yell at him for being terrible?

It’s a failure in design for a game if someone has to go to outside resources to get the information to play “properly”, especially for a game that sells itself of being casual friendly.

If anet fails to tell us what is what how did I know what to do day one? Oh I know, I logged on, I made a character, and I learned the games mechanics over a couple of hours. Breakbars came out, I logged onto my character, I saw a shiny new breakbar and I experimented to see how it worked. Oh thats how it works, cool.

So yes it is the players fault for either A) not asking questions or not trying to figure out how things work.

Mike O’Brien:

Looking at the size of this thread, it would have probably been easier if you kept quiet about this and just have people ‘wait’ for quite a while, then there wouldn’t be this huge uproar about it. Just people constantly asking when next one is, similar to the SAB situation we had.

But it was morally the right thing to do, no matter how difficult it was to announce, so Kudos for that. tips hat

I love the irony in giving somebody the moral highground for telling people all about how he took their money and isn’t giving the service paid for.

It is now april, and I have made my judgement.
I am neither entertained nor happy. Since you’re confident I’ll love what you do, I’m forced to utter those dreaded words: “we need to talk”.

The fact they added a _short_bow indicates that “no new legendaries ever” (something that was never claimed, only read into statements by pessimists) isn’t true. And if they added one, they can add others. Although, hopefully not one per quarter – I’m kind of hoping one per month? Pretty please?

P.S. If they do add another, your signature will be invalidated.

P.P.S. Unless you’re Count Rugen, I suppose.

Did you read the first post of this thread? They disbanded the legendary team. As in there is nobody working on legendaries. Don’t expect something in a monthly, quarterly, or even yearly release cycle there is nobody making it.

More dailies needed per day

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dinks.2478

Dinks.2478

The current system is better. You get 10AP for doing just three dailies instead of ten. This saves you quite a lot of time. On top of that, each daily now gives an award specific to what the achievement has you do. You also get three spirit shards which is more than the average player got per day unless they farmed champ bags. We all now also get 2G on top of that. Kind of hard to beat that.

Sorry, I meant the way the dailies were made, they were less specific. They were obtainable more organically.

No it can’t.

Besides, what would you do if you did end up the only person at the door of the dungeon, you can’t solo the dungeon.

…. Yes you can… I’ve opened CoF solo MANY times, and not only that but plenty of people have solod it before. Pre-HoT Group event means nothing, hell it means nothing in most of HoT too. I can solo entire event chains in most maps. Its really just the hero challenges that can’t be easily solod and thats an odd thing.

“group event”

Can we just go Trinity already?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dinks.2478

Dinks.2478

Personally, I am hoping the next expansion becomes so difficult that players must join groups to survive open world.

Then, groups will sort out roles amongst themselves for the most efficient way to grind and not waste time dying.

I do not mean that players will have only one role. I do mean that one player may be primary for a roll while acting as secondary, tertiary, and emergency back-up for all other roles.

I main Necromancer. The way the profession looks right now, potential main roles might be tank, power damage, debuffs, crowd control, pets. Secondary roles may be tank, power damage, condition damage, debuff removal, and healing. I can rebuild anywhere OoC by changing equipment, traits, and skills.

Do you want roles? That was eight right there. Between members of your group, there are more than enough options for developing roles.

Now, all we need is open world trying very hard to kill our characters so we are forced to group up and assume some responsibilities.

Sounds foolish, Sometimes you want to play the game by yourself, you shouldn’t be forced into groups in open world. I already think they went too far with hero challenges in HoT.

Can we just go Trinity already?

I think we have “gone Trinity” already, but nobody wants to admit it.

Form a raid group, and people will ask for a Chrono tank and a Druid healer. So, yes, I think we have a Trinity now.

Caveat: It is possible people mean something different than I do, so feel free to clarify what you mean by Trinity if you think my example doesn’t fit.

GW2 doesn’t have a hard trinity, the content CAN be done without the tank and healer. We’ve seen it done in wing 1 and I haven’t been paying attention but probably parts of wing 2.

And the game should never have a hard trinity in my opinion.

There is a funny thing about the word drought. A drought doesn’t necessarily end because it rains. Rain levels has to come back up to a normal and stable level. Just like that I don’t think small content releases at erratic and unpredictable times necessarily end a content drought.

mmm, maybe I am crazy but industry standard for an mmo expansion is about $40.

Out of curiosity, what MMO’s set that standard? WoW XPacs are $50, and if any MMO can be said to set standards, that would be it. FF14’s was $40, iirc.

While we’re at it, how do you factor sub fees into XPac price? I could buy WoD for $50, but (also iirc), it only offered one month of sub as part of the price. Once one is in their second month, access now cost $65, barring any kind of discount for multiple months. I’m not sure if the FF14 pack even offers a free month. If not, a month playing that XPac actually costs $55. Let’s not forget the “optional” subs that come with games like ToR.

If we look at B2P MMO’s like ESO and TSW, they sell DLC rather than XPacs. If you want to talk standards, compare what $50 gets you there versus what HoT offered. It’s the only reasonable comparison.

WoW xpacs were all $40…. except maybe the latest one idk I havent played in a couple of years.

I think it’s funny that this entire thread is completely subjective and yet each person attempts to argue from a position of objectivity, and particularly on what Anet “should” charge for an expansion.

They are going to charge $49.99 for the next expansion, with higher prices for extra stuff. There won’t be a “$20 version”.

Why? Because that’s how much those things sell for – or do you not live in the real world?

mmm, maybe I am crazy but industry standard for an mmo expansion is about $40.

Doesn’t WoW charge more than that?

Plus they have a sub fee.

OK, I spent more real money in the GW2 gemstore in my first year, than I did on my WoW sub in three years, but I bet most people don’t.

I’m pretty sure all expect for one of the most recent WoW expansions were $40, and that one just obliterated the amount of content from previous ones to justify the price difference.

Here’s a good analogy:

A company promises to produce some digital content, you pay for that digital content and then the company fails to deliver it. Said company loses the faith of its customers and sells their next scam poorly, leading to layoffs at the company, starting with the fool who tried to scam their players out of content they paid for.

Colin has already left.

And your sure Colin the middle man was responsible?

Colin was game director from the start. He drove the game to where it is and if he couldn’t handle the work load then yes he is responsible.

Mike O’Brien was in charge of the game from the start. He had been Colin’s Boss since day one. He basically approves or denies policy, He is the one responsible overall. I am sure Colin had his hand in it but to try and say it was Colin and that Mike O’Brien is the hero coming in to clean up is just dumb.

Guys, you’re talking about $20 expansions, yet almost every lvl 80 player I see IG has infinite gathering tools (that I can see) and probably a salvage-o-mattic, extra bag slots, etc (I can only guess). You’re not willing to pay more than 20 or 30$ for an expansion, yet you’re willing to pay $50 per character to fix something deliberately made frustrating (25 uses salvage kits etc). You get the game and the expac you deserve I guess.

I’d gladly pay $100 for an expansion if the gemstore was GW1-like.

infinite harvesting tools, salvage kits, etc will last me forever. The “expansion” had a few hours of content at best and has already started slashing features(which hilariously makes the new HoT content even less useful, since the whole point of the new map metas is getting currency/materials for the new legendaries). The tools are a much better investment, especially since I bought all of mine with gold. I use to spend money on Anet games, but they’ve proven time and time again that they don’t want to deliver what they promise and as this thread proves, that the devs don’t give a kitten about the players.

Chalk it up to whatever you want. I don’t think the ‘why’ that explains the 6 mon dev time for one legendary weapon is all that relevant. In fact, it could be longer or shorter to develop a Legendary weapon; We have no way to know. I do know that if it takes months to release a Legendary, 2, 3, 4 6, whatever. That’s a long time.

Anet is on the record saying it takes about a month to create the new legendaries + collections. Since it shouldn’t take 6 people to make one a properly managed and competent team should be able to do 2-3 legendaries a month. Which is reasonable to me. So I think it is very relevant of the reason why.

If the expansion was a full-bodied 50$ worth of content expansion there wouldn’t be a content drought in the first place…

That is completely untrue. No MMO company has ever been able to produce content as fast or faster than the majority of people can consume it.

Whether you feel that you got $50 worth of content is a different consideration than if the amount of content that is released has any potential to cover the periods in time during which new content is being created.

~EW

Of course there will always eventually be a content drought, but I assume the point was that kitten expansion shouldn’t have reached that point so quickly.

(edit)
That kitten filter. I always forget that I can’t put an “a” in front of “$50” because it thinks $ and 5 are both S’s.
Not even going to fix it this late.

Exactly why they have made this particular decision; to reallocate resources to minimize droughts. Funny how people don’t see, or what to see that.

They reallocated an entire team from one project to another project. Unfortunately that entire team was only 6 people so good job, we’ll now get the new content to end the drought in 5 months and 2 weeks instead of 6 months. Congrats

I won’t argue with your estimates on the times or durations but … EXACTLY. There is more pertinent content that they can probably release faster if they allocate the resources to it. That’s an even more sensible thing to do if those resources are languishing on some dead end project that doesn’t deliver.

I get that people are angry about the cancelation, but there is no way you can defend the release of a single Legendary weapon 6 months after the release of HoT as reasonable delivery on that project … they would have completed the second legendary set in time for the game servers to shut down. GG!

I’d chalk 6 months to make 1 legendary up to developer incompetence.

edit: well actually I’ll be fair and say it could also be poor management, but that just swings back to blaming Mike O’Brien so either way.

I would be interested in seeing how many people would take such a deal. Are the legendaries really worth so much that you would want a refund if it meant your account would revert back to the status of just owning the “Core” game – meaning no longer being able to use Elite professions, no access to Maguuma, and any other content that requires buying HoT?

They’ve already stated that a refund will result in a permanently banned account so its a moot point.

I would rather they gave me what was advertised and paid for then then allow them to get away with cheating on a deal. I would accept a refund if it included all my gem purchases and then gladly say adios and consider time played as time wasted.

This. I would gladly accept refund of my 45€ for a HoT and because I will get banned after that will gladly accept 60€ for core game that I purchased 3 years ago. So thats 105€ to use on something else. Can I get that?

You want a refund for the core game too? Thats like ordering a steak at a restaurant, eating 90% of it, and then asking for a refund because it wasn’t cooked to order.

Nearly the same thing with HoT…we are how many months into the launch of HoT?

He doesn’t want a refund for core, he is saying that if getting a refund for HoT will ban his account then he deserves a refund for core. Which he does. Core and HoT are separate purchases, refunding one should not negate the other without also including a refund for the other.

As far as how long HoT has been out is irrelevant, the periodic release of legendaries was part of HoT, with them cancelled the deal has been altered and thus reparations are in order.

We’ve had what 5 armor sets added to the game outside of the gem store since launch? Disgusting.

Radiant/Hellfire reuse some elements between armor weights, but have unique chests and pants, so count them how you will. Glorious Armor and Glorious Hero’s Armor are also very similar, so you can choose to count those as how you will. Same with Carapace and Luminescent. Living Story has provided a large number of individual pieces, like back items and helms, but if we’re just looking at sets:

-Radiant Light
-Radiant Medium
-Radiant Heavy
-Hellfire Light
-Hellfire Medium
-Hellfire Heavy
-Carapace Light – Luminescent Light
-Carapace Medium – Luminescent Medium
-Carapace Heavy – Luminescent Heavy
-Illustrious Light
-Illustrious Medium
-Illustrious Heavy
-Glorious Light -Glorious Hero’s Light
-Glorious Medium -Glorious Hero’s Medium
-Glorious Heavy -Glorious Hero’s Heavy
-Bladed Light
-Bladed Medium
-Bladed Heavy
- Leystone Light
- Leystone Medium
- Leystone Heavy

I’m not saying 21~27 new armor sets since launch is a good number or a bad number, but I think five is a pretty severe underestimation. The weight class variations might not feel like they deserve to be called totally different sets, but they are, especially if they’re going to be compared to outfits.

I personally don’t differentiate between weight classes, especially since I consider locking armors to weight classes was a joke to begin with.

1) there was no EULA present at the time of the establishment of the initial contract regarding GW2 between myself and Anet.

There has always been a user agreement and you agree to be bound by it with your very first login. You also agree that that it can change and, if you are in Germany, you even get your own special version of it. Your argument to the contrary is naive and ridiculous.

Your very first login happens after the purchase has been made. I bought the core game at a brick and mortar store and the expansion from an authorized third party , and those sellers are not going to accept the return of a product that has been opened or its key given.

This aspect of software EULAs has lead to them being invalidated in some cases. The fact that by the time the user is able to have the choice to agree or disagree, their ability to return the product is gone, serves to give some degree of favor to the consumer. Or as in many instances, the manufacturer/developer attempts to assert that merely opening the package, in which the EULA is sealed, qualifies as accepting the terms. In those cases, it can be quite difficult to establish that the agreement was ever valid due to its attempts at being enforced before it was even presented.

This is the correct response, EULA don’t really hold much weight.

Ten times the work; would you pay ten times the price?

Likely would not be big sellers at that kind of cost.

From what i’ve read in these forums Anet seems to say that about nearly everything lately, are they not interested in their jobs anymore?

My thoughts exactly, its like they’re pretending to be larger than they really are. Is anet actually like a 4 man developer team pretending to be a larger company? If you can’t maintain your game and provide content then maybe you should shut down and move on. We’ve had what 5 armor sets added to the game outside of the gem store since launch? Disgusting.
