The fractals Legendary stuff and all mastery stuff is Expansion content and why should it not be locked behind the Expansion? This is nothing you had before the expac.GW2.
Fractals Mastery you require to increase fractal rewards. Base rewards for content that was already in the game. They did not add to fractals content AT ALL. They did change features and interface, and destroy any and all challenge there was to fractals at all, which was what kept the fractal community playing despite a dearth of rewards all along (that’s not a new thing)
.
They re-color the weapons (the golden weapons have less effects than the old ones), add a legendary back pack*, and made it so that we could choose our islands- added a new fractal daily system. The last two are great changes- but these are features being added to the BASE GAME CONTENT. This was not maguuma or heart of thorns content.*The legendary back piece should perhaps have required something from fractals’ collections but been part of legendary crafting mastery which perhaps should have been its own separate mastery category that gained XP from both tyria and HoT perhaps gained double XP in HoT- but that everyone had access to whether they bought or not.
I bought HoT, maxed my fractal mastery. I am not complaining because I do not want to spend money on the game. I just do not think this is the way to treat your veterans who aren’t interested in HoT, keep the “undecided” players- the ones who have not bought HoT yet, playing- nor a good impression to make on people who are new to the game.
I have heard alot about this on the forums that rewards are nerfed and put behind masteries… That is actually bad but I want to see the facts that it is so. I am no regular fractal player but I have gotten more interesting loot + a few Ascended rings just as I usally got when I did the low level fractals… I bet it is the random drop weapon skins on higher fractals we are talking about or what?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18IHVJao5j85KOp6lBTOgO8qs4VYD3Xty-jKPZo8o-Q4/pubhtml
Here is some fractal drop research. This is significantly lower than it was pre-HoT.
There are two types of players
Players who are casual and are fine playing the FREE core game. And then there are more hardcore players who have bought heart of thorns. The free players shouldn’t care about getting the BEST gear and the COOLEST skins. They play for fun because they are casuals. The hardcore players do care about that stuff. And they have it available to them more effectively in HoT.
The problem is, there are still people who refuse to buy the expansion yet are hardcore players because they feel like they’re getting gyped/don’t have the money/feel like since they already bought the game, shouldn’t have to pay for the expansion. They are in a limbo between casual and hardcore. They expect all the niceties like ascended gear and legendary weapons but dont want to upgrade to the expansion.
While 50 bucks I’d a bit overpriced for what we got, people spend 50 bucks are stupider crap everyday.
Ascended gear has been in the game for years. It is part of the core game. An expansion should stand on it’s own merit. You don’t nerf and remove stuff from the core game to make the expansion more appetizing.
but you know they have to cater to the people who get legendary greatsword recipie and unlock it on their huntsman becouse it says weaponsmith huntsman or artificer on the box aswell….. They wouldent be able to do the journey your talking about.
How is it “catering” to people? It says all 3 crafting professions, it is not unrealistic to expect it to work on all 3 crafting professions.
Yeah, the megaserver problem that was happening at launch is still definitely an issue. Maps aren’t filling up properly. Tangled Depths appears to cap at like 70 people as well. Can’t even taxi more people in than that.
“Tired of RNG? Want a sure-fire way to get a precursor through hard work and effort? Well boy do we not have the thing for you! Introducing Precursor collections, We took the two things people hated about getting precursors and combined them! We weren’t done yet though, On top of the RNG and Gold cost of the previous methods we’ve also added in doing random events and talking to random NPCs! Act now to be completely disappointed!”
Yep, I’ve been saying this since HoT launch. There are now way too many “keys” I need to carry for each map. It is getting kind of ridiculous. HoT is killing my inventory and basically forcing me to play one character or to transfer at on of items every time I change.
I’m pretty sure that you keep your participation if you stay in the same zone.

I don’t want to complete it at all, been playing since beta, have all classes to 80, most are less then 10% map completion. I have no desire to wander around doing the joke that is open world PvE in this game.
Pretty much.
I have 23 level 80s and I’m really not looking forward to the task ahead given 95% of my time is spent in PvP and WvW.
If they could make alternative methods of acquisition via WvW & PvP i think it would be reasonable.
PvP will be auto unlocked like everything else in PvP.
Too bad, he was there first killing ambients, get lost and find a new spot or wait your turn. I can promise you and anybody else on these forums that if I am farming ambients for whatever reason and you start balming them I am going to kill the candy corns just as fast as I would ambients and you’d only be hurting yourself.
The sense of entitlement in your post and in the other pro-maize balm farmers here is quite disgusting. Best community my kitten .
Can the aggressive attitude, there’s no place for it here.
Entitled? I sure am. I’m entitled to find a good compromise that makes everybody happy, and helps all to enjoy the game. Read my post again.
There is only one compromise, you admit that you don’t own the mobs and move along or you waste maize balms and I get free ToT bags and farm my achievement.
This isn’t an aggressive attitude, this is reality. The way you maize balm farmers act entitled really is the type of kitten that destroys this game. The same way that guilds will join a Bloodtide Coast and then yell at people to leave the map because they’re not invited. No, they are invited, either deal with them being there or move.
You’re quite correct, I don’t even tag the elementals out of respect for the person farming. I just want the right to get what I need to done without someone harassing me for it. When I get those 5000 kills per weapon you’re never going to see me there again unless it’s for Shadow Behemoth and only then for the loot.
The problem comes when I can’t find an alternative place to go, because there are farmers everywhere that there is a concentration of ambient creatures.
I have since found a new spot to farm that requires a lot of set up (thanks again to that kind player Chuck), but the player’s disrespect when I showed them nothing but courtesy is appalling. They didn’t even ask me to stop because they were going to farm, they just insulted me and then tried to stalk me to run me out of the map like a jealous mother hen.I enjoy farming the candy corn golems, and I do it often.
I can tell you for certain, it’s a lot harder to find good spots that are suitable for balm farming than AP hunting. When you run into these farmers and they snap at you, it’s because they have already been drowned in griefing, nasty players. Understand they are going to be edgy. It’s not an excuse, but it’s the reason.
Do yourself a favour and find somebody that has Forewarned is Forearmed active. The ambients run to you in constant stream. It’s too bad the golems made in instances drop no loot. I know I’d prefer to farm in a private area. That’s one thing I miss a lot from GW1….

Not expecting it to be fully playable that Friday, but I won’t be able to play Saturday so I hope it will at least be somewhat playable otherwise I have to wait until Sunday to do anything.

People need to calm down, its not that hard. I have one of each class with 214 hero points, it took me like 2 weeks to get every class like that. While you’re all on the forums complaining you could easily spend the next 2 weeks preparing instead. Or you can spend the next 2 weeks complaining and have to do it at launch.
If the average player is too unrealistic to believe that changes like this takes time, and a lot of time to implement, there’s nothing Anet can do about it.
You are absolutely right, they do take time. Now if Anet would open it’s mouth and communicate it’s intentions and give proper timetables then people who want something but can’t get it right now but could at least know when to look forward to it. As it stands Anet is afraid of communication and the minute even the slightest criticism appears they clam up and stop communicating. How can you expect to run an online community when you don’t even communicate with the members of it?
I’d rather they just remove dungeons than leave them in such a sad state.
This is just frustratingly sad….
Why don’t you just delete dungeons? honestly, you clearly just stated you don’t want players doing them…
Where did they state that they don’t want players doing dungeons?
Page 1 of this thread.
Nowhere does he state that they do not want players doing dungeons.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Economy-Questions-Repost/first#post5602939
Literally says it right here, from page 1.
Forget flippers, they need to nerf ToT farming, SW farming, and every other type of boring farm that pumps way more money into the game than dungeons ever will. Mark my works, this is anet trying to kill dungeons without outright removing them because they know their new content sucks and are afraid that dungeons (even in their current kitten state) will still look good after people notice that.
I’m okay with reducing the gold output of dungeons, but I’m not okay with reducing the value of playing dungeons. Replace parts of the gold with T6 materials, lodestones, or something that matters to someone and can be sold to recoup some of the value. Don’t just take away the gold and give it nothing in return. A number of people play dungeons because they’re valuable even in spite of how old and unsupported they are; reducing their value will move those people elsewhere and that’s not good.
He answered that in mines, they dont want dungeons to be as desired an activity regardless
This leads me to believe it is exactly what I stated in another post about this. They are nerfing dungeons because they are afraid the new content won’t look appealing unless they finalize their abandonment of dungeons and make it not viable.
Disappointment ensues.
They have to nerf dungeon rewards so people don’t catch on that the rewards from fractals and the new content is subpar. What a shame, if you want to put the nail in the coffin of dungeons just remove them already anet.
I have to disagree 100% with you, ZanchinFissure. I’m not sure where you got your evidence that a “vast amount of the playerbase” dislikes underwater. I, for one, love the underwater bits in GW2. Of all the MMOs I’ve played, it is, hands down, my favorite underwater. It’s pretty and I find it very easy to navigate. So far, I haven’t had any trouble with underwater combat, either. And, when I’m in the mood to avoid combat, I just keep swimming. Honestly, when I swim on the surface, I’m typically never even aggro’d by mobs.
If it’s simply a matter of being able to get from Point A to Point B without combat, why not waypoint?
I’ll qualify all this by saying that I don’t do PvP or WvW. Perhaps those underwater experiences are significantly different from PvE? Is that the bit you find distasteful?
Anet disagrees with YOU. There is a reason they removed the only PvP map with underwater combat, removed the lake in the middle of WvW borderlands, and a reason why none of the Black Lion weapons have had underwater models for like the last 10 sets. It is simply a failure. Underwater combat was supposed to be fun and something different for when you’re under the water, but for all but a few classes it is a chore and underpowered garbage.
Bunny Ears /15chars
You had to get lucky to get the correct parts from salvaging other items
1. you got TONS of mats, your inventory was full of them.
you had to get lucky crafting it with those parts
2. not really, i think it was a crit craft, but it wasn’t exactly random, you put the parts in and you got one of 2/3 armours, hardly RNG, 5 tries tops and you’d get the part you were crafting.
More importantly there was no warning it was being removed.
3. they gave months upon months of warning that the pvp vendors, pvp materials and pvp rewards were being removed, this armour was a pvp exclusive, how does that not translate to “this armour will be unobtainable” to you?
tldr:
it was crafted by those who wanted it, it was a pvp exclusive, you were given months upon months of warning before it was made unobtainable. You can pretend they gave a warning and that it wasn’t luck all you want but you’re still wrong.
did you just go full kitten? how is it “pretending” if i just explained exactly how it was crafted and that there was plenty of warning that it wouldn’t be obtainable…
Because you’re WRONG. It was RNG both to get the materials and to get the right item when crafting. And there was exactly zero warnings or statement that tribal was going away. All they said was that they were combining the systems of PvE and PvP armor and that all the skins would be shared within the wardrobe.

Why should I not use the most rare and precious trophys I own? Only rare and exclusive items can make you look truly unique.
haven’t you learnt by now? the GW2 community hate you having unique past rewards that they could’nt be bothered to earn or weren’t playing the game to earn.
screw the rewards you earned, they want them! They didn’t earn kitten, they just got lucky with RNG when it was still available.
i keep seeing you folks say that, but you’re dead wrong, first you had to grind your way to rank 30 to earn the wolf tokens, then you had to use pvp mats to craft it in the mystic forge.
there was also warning before hand that it was getting removed which is why i crafted the full set.side note, i think its really bad that alot of players in GW2 don’t recognise the value of limited time items in MMOs, imho they’re one of the best ways to add meaning to a character, GW2 is already lacking them, i grinded for the season 1 rewards only to be disappointed when they were added to the laurel vendor for a couple of gold…
but don’t worry, you nagging folks are getting pandered to…
they’ve already said that they will give you our unobtainable pvp rewards.
and with a jungle themed expansion coming i fully expect to disappointingly see my favourite pvp heirloom rewards sold en-mass by vendors for a couple of silver.
No, it was RNG. You had to get lucky to get the correct parts from salvaging other items, you had to get lucky crafting it with those parts, and getting to rank 30 was easy. I should know I did it and I was very casual. More importantly there was no warning it was being removed. They said they were instituting the wardrobe and that PvE and PvE armor were being combined, the implication being that PvP armor would equally be available in PvE as well. Don’t act all high and mighty because you got lucky, and certainly don’t try to pretend you weren’t lucky either. Both are insults to the intelligence of yourself and everybody reading what you say.

Speaking as an Oceanic Player, I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for that to Happen. We just have to accept that the world ends at the American coastline and no-one beyond that actually matters.
That is an unfair statement. Europeans get their own servers for the same reason the NA gets their own servers. There is a large enough population for it to matter. There are not enough Oceanic or African players to warrant the cost of running servers. Especially since I would be willing to bet that a large chunk of people would still play in the EU or NA servers because of the larger population.
What if… Keys were a PvP track reward?
Nice Idea! Please add them as a dungeon completion reward also (for those of us who do not play PvP).
Change the dungeons to have all paths active at once and it all has to be completed | Vanquished | Cleared for the end chest to contain a Black Lion Key XD
That way it takes as much or more time as a low level key farm, removes server strain from character creations, improves dungeons so that are not “run” but Vanquished (like gw1 Vanquishing reward), improves dungeons to be more desirable.
I have never understood why some people obsess over having to kill every mob, and want things taken away from/kept away from people who don’t want to play their way.
The mobs are simply an obstacle, there to give the place some flavor and slow you down. Like a simple puzzle. People who can think outside the box realize, hey, this guys here to slow me down but there’s nothing actually stopping me from just going past and completing the only thing technically listed on my objectives, namely kill the boss, and getting the only thing worth coming in here for, namely tokens.
It is just pure arrogance. These people think that their way is the only way and if other people don’t want to play their way then they have to somehow save them from themselves. It is like those people who hate kitten the Meta and insist that the Meta needs to end so that the Meta people can focus on having fun again instead okittennowledging that those people are having fun because of the Meta.
Too bad they didn’t think that it might be because it’s the chests that are a problem.
That’s only because players collectively ignore the fact that the “junk” in chests is actually what chests were designed to deliver.
Wait, what? If the players collectively ignored the fact that chests give out mostly junk, then they would be buying keys, and the whole problem wouldn’t exist. It’s because they know the chests’ worth that key sales drop.
I think he was trying to say that we should accept the junk. Which we absolutely should not. Anet refuses to make keys worthwhile to buy and would rather spite us out of legitimate rewards than do so.
No. My point being is that BLTC had these items from day one that’s what you spent keys on to get. Then in July 2013 they added tickets and now players seem to forget that the so called junk was what players were buying keys to get before tickets were added.
The free key at the end of the first chapter of the personal story was put there so new players would get a sampler of what the Gem Store offered. Their first free hit.
But once they added tickets the chest’s true purpose doesn’t matter anymore to some of you. It’s all about the tickets and if you don’t get one or at least a scrap then it’s a rip off. It’s not a rip off, it’s working as intended, as a means to get random stuff that is or once was available at the Gem Shop, plus some exclusives which includes tickets and scraps. Consciously ignoring that by saying the chests and hence the keys are only about the tickets is a perverted view on what that item is for.
Incorrect, their true purpose is scraps. If you wanted any of the other stuff in there you would buy it directly at a much cheaper price. You’re the only one here perverting what the item is for. They’ve had exclusive weapons as their selling points since the first halloween. Only 2 months after launch. They did that because that is the selling point.
Too bad they didn’t think that it might be because it’s the chests that are a problem.
That’s only because players collectively ignore the fact that the “junk” in chests is actually what chests were designed to deliver.

Once upon a time I spent 800, that is Eight Zero Zero shards and ectos trying to get 77 clovers for my Meteorlogicus. You’d think I at least got a lot of T6 mats out of it but that would be an insult to my what I really got out of it. A whole ton of gossamer and T6 leather.
I notice there are a lot of intelligent people posting on this forum, with great ideas on how to make the game better for the players and more profitable for Anet.
It’s unfortunate that Anet does listen to it’s playerbase more often.
What’s more unfortunate though, is that all these cool and level headed people are here on the forums venting their frustrations instead of having fun and playing the game they all paid for, several times over in most cases.
Because if this is the direction the game is headed, where loot as rewards for doing actual content is removed in favor of herding us to the gem store do we really want to be here as it gets worse? We have to spread our message now, because if we wait there will be nobody to spread our message to later.
Hopefully they are picked on relentlessly. Sylvari and Charr are the worst races ever conceived.
Okay I will try. Thanks for the advice.
If they say no the first time remove your ticket and ask again and again if necessary.
Don’t do this.
Clogs the support system with kitten tickets so that people that actually need help have to wait.
And? HE actually needs help. and he wouldnt have to clog the system if they helped him the first time.
Too bad they didn’t think that it might be because it’s the chests that are a problem.
That’s only because players collectively ignore the fact that the “junk” in chests is actually what chests were designed to deliver.
If they were designed to deliver that “junk”, why are the tickets in there as the only way to obtain them, too?
Unique backpack skins, account bound minis, set minis and missing event dye kits are also only available now from BLTC. Because it’s a rare PRIZE.
The mentality here if in the real world would be going into your local McDonalds and buying out all their packages with Monopoly game pieces, throwing away the “food” because you are hoping for one of the bigger prizes besides a bunch of tickets for free small fries. And then complain that the free small fry tickets are blocking you from getting one of the good prizes.
For the first 9 months of the game BLTC did not contain tickets. Period. Tickets and scraps were added to the existing reward pool as just one more potential reward. The notion that all those other rewards, many that have been there since launch, are cluttering your chance to get a ticket or scrap astounds me.
No, its not like that at all. The main reason people buy McDonalds is for food. People don’t buy BL Keys for worthless boosters and other worthless stuff. They know what they want out of it. This is 100% on anet, not the people.
Anet hates it when people find ways to have fun and farm in this game. They will eventually remove everything fun in this game.
I main a Guardian and I will not be playing dragonhunter. No amount of begging, pleading, or any other form of persuasion will convince me to play that kittenty spec. It honestly feels like anet purposely put in the least amount of effort into it on purpose. On the other hand Reaper is going to be awesome and I look forward to it.
I just don’t understand anets thought process when it comes to bunny ears and the other glasses. They would sell so well, its pure laziness and refusal.
Key farming was dumb and never should’ve existed in the first place. Slaying it and increasing the Key drop rate to compensate was a very player-centric thing for ANet to have done. F2P has nothing to do with it.
They took a good farm and turned it into mindless RNG, assuming keys drop any more often in the first place. I’d hardly call that an improvement. This games needs less RNG not more.
Please disable this, why would I need to see my own name? I know who I am…
Its just a dragon head.
This game has a soft trinity, its called Damage, Support, Control. Everybody can do it. If you want a hard trinity game go play one of the dozens of games with a hard trinity on the market. I am tired of people trying to break this game and turn it into 4 hour queue to play any content.
I never understood the laziness that you must have to be a tank or a healer. If you just want to stand semi-afk and let things hit you or cast a heal every once in a while why do you even bother playing games?
No, they’re too busy making broken events.
This game was advertised at one point with plans to have a sidekick option, but it was scrapped.
The only one they might not release is Kormir. The only reason we’re getting the other ones is because they already exist. They’re Dervish elite skills from GW1.
Oh, and a dye collectors achievement.
Yeah, this is only day 24 of sales…. We were originally supposed to have 24 and they said they were extending it 5 days so its only day 24 of 26.
ArenaNet, please turn Hearts into Dynamic Events.
Here is an idea: You go to the farm as a level 2, the Farmer says “Our cows are hungry” and players can decide to feed them or not. Same Zone, but different event the cows are not hungry anymore but the farmer says “We need to water the crops!” and so the players can decide to participate on the event by grabing water buckets and watering crops.
These are examples of heart tasks turning into events in human zones. I really think all hearts should be random events depending on situation.
Currently newbs think hearts as quests and generally find hearts more interesting than events when they first start. The current heart system teaches newbs that this is questing and this is what gw2 is about… I think changing hearts into events will teach newbs gw2 is about the events instead and gives them something new everytime they re-explore the area like what other events do. It teaches them exploration is key.
The only reason hearts exist are to transition players into the concept of events. In alpha there were no hearts, but people complained that they didn’t know what to do. Hearts helped direct people around the zones as they did events. I despise hearts but I get their purpose.
The Op is making the point that he has to play selfishly in order to get the rewards he wants, along with probably 70% of other players at these events, I totally get what he is saying and I agree with him 100%. Does this make us bad people? no, what it does is show though is how badly the reward structure was designed.
While I get you’re point, nobody HAS to do it that way. I’ve reached 20 stacks while actually helping with the events rather than leeching. Leeching is just a faster, easier way of doing it
I’m going to have to call you out on that. It is basically impossible to get to 20 without being selfish about it.
Consider this for next time anet. I know you were trying to keep people from leeching but it doesn’t work. Systems like this only encourage leeching. I’d rather carry a minority of people who AFK than carry a bunch of people who actively scale up events and move on.
