I’m still short about 3 million karma for the remaining T3 cultural weapons. I have every other karma skin in the game. Karma boosts were the only boosters I ever used and now I have a pile of useless enchanted boosts.
Yes, we do need a response. I am personally getting very tired of these shady tactics.
Support is already in the meta.
Bring boons, strip defiance stacks. You’ve done your job.
Support is not about stats for the Nth time.
And that’s the problem, Healing power is at the moment kind of superfluous. You don’t need it to heal effectively or provide support, for most classes it does next to nothing. My thoughts is heals needs to scale much more on healing power and have their base values rammed into the floor, so if you want your heal to be effective you have to invest in healing power, and if you want to full zerk, fine, but you better not get hit – ever.
That is contrary to this games point. The point is that you DON’T need to run any one specific stat. Sure soem of the playerbase has decided that they expect people to wear zerker gear, but that is inherently different than making the game impossible without a specific stat. You’re hinging dangerously on imposing the tank/heal/dps trinity, and nobody wants that or we’d be playing a game where the trinity exists. This game has it’s own trinity, DPS/Support/CC. And each class can do all of that. It makes for very fast party grouping. Unless you’re very picky in which case that is the fault of those people and not a system wide design flaw.
I think folks are frustrated becaus I’ve claimed that what I’m talking about could change the way they want to play.
And yes boon stacking is easy, and everyone does it. I’m saying that it’s too easy. And folks all do it… so every blast finisher in a fire field past 25 stacks is wasted if another move has higher dps than that blast.
So if you can hand that job off to one guy… the others can spend time not wasting valuable dps time. Remember the 26th stack of might is wasted. Unless they remove that cap, and they definitely should not.
So if you shorten the boons…. which apparently never have time to help due to short fights…. then you NEED everyone might stacking…. or, someone with boon duration.
Currently healing power is weak, and we all agree that its weak.
So, shorten the boon duration of skills on all classes universaly. Then couple stats together.
This gives people a reason to take healing power. Because might stacking becomes hard without it.
Then, once people open up to having a HP/BD guy in the group, when you up the damage in encounters, it isnt as catastrophic a change. It increases the skill cap, and prevents faceroll play style.
So yes. The encounters need to be made more challenging. The fact that stack n’ whack exists is testament to this.
I’m proposing a reason to take HP.
If the encounters called for it to begin with then there would be a reason to take HP. That itself is the solution. Anything in between is just an intentional nerf to the game.
Same conversation, different title. Support is already in the meta.
Let us see the current top META builds.
Staff Elementalist. Support = Blinds, CC, Might, Vulnerability, reflects/projectile destruction, condi removal/heal if needed.
Mace/Torch GS Guardian. Support = Blinds, Heals, Blocks, Reflects, Stability, Mobility, Quickness, CC, Fury.
Sword/Sword Sword/Focus Mesmer. Support = Boon stripping, reflects, Quickness, Slow, condi removal, stealth.
D/D S/P Shortbow Thief. Support = Stealth, Reflects, Blasting, CC, Blinds.
Phalanx Strength Warrior. Support = Banners, Might, Fury, Vulnerability, CC, 150 Additional Power to nearby party members, Instant res banner.
No Dinks That’s called Debuffing and Booning, and some general utility,
Support is more then Booning alone.
Though in PvE healing and boon duration obviously are no longer useable.
(as a WvW player I am very aware of soft and hard CC, debuffs, buffs, reflects and other small things kitten ppl quickness yeah it works wonders (in 25-30 man groups? or in 70 ppl zergs?) .. Also I’d like to see healing buffed, and boon duration could use some love.)
No, they are called support. You don’t like facts that is fine, you don’t get to redefine them for your own convenience.

I hear what you guys are saying about the encounters. They can be avoided with active mitigation. However, dead, dodging, downed, or rezzing ’zerkers are doing no dps for the aforementioned situations. So, if the presence of one full healing power build can make them dodge half as much, be downed half as much, ensure that no one is ever dead, and they are the dedicated rezzer, (rez boosting trait, and lowest dps) the uptime that he or she gives to the ’zerkers will definitely make up for the loss of a slot.
We have all met glass cannons, who seem to fire broken glass, at themselves…. we all know the warrior who dies evry time he tries to land hunderd blades….
Imaging that guy survives his way through his HB and realizes he’s taking damage, gets a good 45 sec of powerful regen stacked on him, aegis, and buys time for him to actually use his heal skill.
And I’ve already said that ‘healing power’ ought to have its coefficent upped… though 3k HPS is to high, I see your piint and agree. Due to the active mitigation, 1.5k HPS for a ‘Altruism’ main stat guy is about right. 800 HPS for a zealot, or 2ndary stat guy is great. If they up the damage of encounters, and they should, then they should increase the healing scaling much more. Though that moves things back to the holy trinity again, but the trinity is different, and not WoW, EQ, or whatever’s trinity of Tank, Dps, Dps, Dps, Healer. Its more…. Boon Aplicator/ HPS, Condi, Condi, Zerk, Zerk. And this can be filled as well by a few hybrid toons filling half of the proposed slots… like a hybrid condi support, and hybrid zerk support, together fill 1 support slot, and half of the 1 condi slot and half a zerk slot.
Thus makes things more dynamic. And rewards build creativity. Not just poppung onto metabattle, grabbing the “latest and greatest” clicking into your toon, and failing to play it correctly. Perhaps metabattle would have so many diffrent builds that people would have to read and explore the why of what they’re doing.
Now, im not saying that you esteemed reader, are that guy that im talking about. But I know you have dragged that guy kicking and screaming as he facerolls his keyboard through a level 31 fractal screaming “oh my gawd! Dodge the mossman! You know its comming!” Then proceeding to 4 man the content anyway.
In those situations, I go get my full zealot ranger with cleric trinkets and runes of altruism, and suddenly everyone but that guy actually gets their scholar bonus. And that guy just keeps barely recovering from the edge of death.
Now imagine a group with 4 dps, who know they can dps through the first big hit because the incomming healing will let them tank the dps. Delay the dodge, trash drops faster. Heal through the dps, boss drops faster.
No thanks, I prefer my warriors dodging, you know because it buffs them. I prefer my 5th player providing damage rather than being a crutch for players who don’t want to learn the encounter and know when to dodge, blind, block, reflect.

Hello *,
Thank you for contacting the Guild Wars 2 support team.
At this time we cannot fulfill your request. Please note this was a general change that affected all players thus we cannot exchange the boosters you requested.
Please let us know if you need anything else.
Regards,
Senior GM Markus
Guild Wars 2 Support Team
http://help.guildwars2.com/Was the e-mail I received. This is an absolute outrage and MUST be addressed by players/GW2 Support/Devs as soon as possible. We cannot just allow a company to get away with such impure, shady acts of business.
Once again, escalated my ticket.
That is very disappointing. Despite my issues with anet, I was always very happy that their support team was usually willing to help and work with you. That response is very disturbing to me. It means that either somebody is tying their hands or they simply don’t wish to be helpful any longer and that is not a good sign.
It is shady things like this that fuels the future distrust of this company. If the quality of the boosters don’t sell themselves then maybe they are the problem. You don’t need to break other things to force it.
The Meta is all about support already. Might, Fury, Vigor, Blinds, Reflects, Blocks, Stability, etc. People seem to think that unless your character is built as nothing but a support character they’re not doing support. This isn’t that game and if you want that game then you’re in the wrong place.
I did the ambrite weapons just a few weeks ago. Pretty sure 95% of the maps I got into were T4+
To be honest, im not in favor of elitism, but its unavoidable. If the classes were better balanced in pve there will be less elitism, thats for sure, but it will still exist.
I’ll have to disagree to a certain extent. No class is horrible, some classes are better but it’s not as if bringing a necro or ranger with you into a dungeon is a massive handicap or a certain wipe.
I’d argue it is a perception of these classes which is the problem. The elitism is mostly based on opinion than fact.
Necros are actually an extremely selfish class. When the META relies on each person pulling their weight as far as team support and damage goes then a selfish class isn’t wanted. As far as Rangers go. Nobody wants them because the fact is most of them ARE bad. Most rangers won’t stay within boon range, they won’t switch out of longbow in close range (which neuters their damage), and they won’t for the love of all that is good stop hitting skill 4.
I know everybody was hoping this change would help reflect actual WvW populations but it seems the algorithm was specifically designed to make it look like all servers are populated. Some of these servers with high and medium populations are WvW wastelands. Very sad really.
This is just more of the same. People who don’t want to take the time to organize their own events whining because the people who do take their own time to do it want to play with who they want to play with. Get over it, quit whining like little girls and organize your own map. This is the same crap as the people who whine that there are zerker only LFGs instead of just making their own non-zerker LFGs.
talk about being blind as a bat . you sure do not get this post and points made in this post at all that is very clear
I get them, they’re just meaningless whining. If I spend a bunch of time organizing a map and then my own friends can’t get in because it is full I am taking my organized map with me to a new map where my friends can get in. Anybody that got left behind was a lazy afker or too self-important to join any of the parties/teamspeak and don’t deserve to come along.
Well.. I guess you didn’t organize it very well then if your own friends/guildies cant even get in… that speaks volumes and is one of the indicators for players not to come within a country mile of one of your organized events.. just like the guilds were speaking of in this thread… thanks for the heads up.
very well said and yes we see them coming . on the maps then you know it,s time to leave the map and hope you get a more better one .
more better. Teq is easy. It takes 5 minutes of organizing.

No, it means anet has poor tools for getting people into maps.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought dailies had like 9 suggestions and you could do something not on the list to finish it. I’ve had it tell me to do fractals and I just pick something else and finish every day without doing a single one. o.o’’
That is correct, these are stubborn people who only want to do PvE only or WvW only or something like that. It is pure stubbornness and if they don’t want to do their dailies that is their own fault and problem.
This is just more of the same. Not really.
I have no need for spirit shards.
If it does get done, it’s because im playing normally. Otherwise, i could care less.
If you could care less than that means you care at least a little.
Well then, why do I have all these stacks of tomes? So I can make an 18th alt? what a waste of an item anet. Very disappointing.
Back to the real point, there is no way in hell that bulky guy is a Sylvari. A sylvari that doesn’t look anorexic doesn’t exist in this game.
They want a villain with mitivations they said, they dont like dragons they said, you guys obviously miss scarlet….
Scarlet had no motivations, she was a crazy kitten who came out of nowhere with no explanation and was apparently amazing at everything she did. She wasn’t an interesting character, her dialogue sounded like it was written by a 3rd grader, and in general she isn’t at all what these people are asking for.
With that out of the way I very much want to get to the dragons. I am tired of anet ignoring the point of this game, where we are supposed to be fighting the elder dragons. That was the whole point, ever since the build up of the dragons and their champions hidden around the world in Guild Wars 1 and Promordus waking up in Guild Wars 1. This is what we have been waiting for.
I didn’t used to until they became the only guaranteed method of aquiring Spirit Shards. Now I they are the first thing I do after logging in if I intend to play for any amount of time.
Ouch… You are missing out on some serious loot. Dailies give your monthly allocation of laurels so you can buy ascended trinkets. Also give mats for crafting legendary and ascended. Its pretty much free stuff, completing daily take about 15 mins
I think you’re referring to Login Rewards, not dailies. The only bonus to doing dailies is the aformentioned Spirit Shards and bonus Mystic Coins if you do the Mystic Forge daily. Otherwise the Daily Rewards are just extra crafting mats, XP scrolls and karma sips.
Dailies are also 10 free achievement points every day, getting you closer to those sweet achievement chests.
:\ For me, I stopped considering the achievement chests as being “sweet” when they removed the armor and weapon skins from them. It was a nice alternative method of acquisition for many of the dungeon skins even if it was a very rare chance of getting one, or even more rare to get one you were hoping for. When that change was made, I stopped caring about achievement points and those chests completely, which led to my no longer looking to complete content to earn them and contributed to lack of interest in even logging in. There has been far too much reduction in content that has led to lack of motivation and interest to continue playing. I still have a tiny bit of hope that ANet will change this direction of reduction and restriction in the future…a very, very tiny bit.
I do agree that the achievement chests have been extremely lame and underwhelming since they removed the skins from them.
We already have a carrot for these. Its called Achievements. No need to force players to rerun them when they already did it once.
How would an additional category “force” people to re-run these? Original intent on this is to open up additional options for people that might want additional daily goals and give people that might not like options in the existing three groups more options to choose from.
Note: I don’t have any issues with existing dailies except lack of variety but do know some people that have ones they won’t do at all. Not to mention the threads from people that don’t fractual and run into issues with double daily fractuals, which I admit I love when its an option, but know others do not.
This still wouldn’t be a requirement, since ANet already made the change on do just 3 dailies. So If you don’t have to do them, what’s up with issue if its a matter of just defining additional dailies in the pool of options? Or are the people against it just feel pressured that they didn’t do them all in a given day?
Anybody who refuses to spend the 5 minutes (literally, any given daily will take 5 minutes aside from maybe the high tiered fractals which is still only like 20 minutes and well rewarding) to do any of the random dailies does not deserve the rewards. End of discussion.
I do my PvP dailies every day. Takes about 10 minutes of my time. There is really no reason not to do them.
No, I payed for my commander tag and I will and should be able to use it even if I am just standing still for an hour.
This is a poor attitude to have and a classic example of how tags are being misused already. I really hope you are trying to be funny or sarcastic here….
No joke ,its a lot of gold and for you to try and have it disabled in 90% of the game is the real joke.
People aren’t leaving MMOs, look at the top lists on Steam. People are spreading out to the various MMOs. TERA’s Steam launch came around the same time GW2 HoT preorders started. TERA is GW2’s main competition right now, and I’m sure more than a few people used the Steam launch of TERA to talk themselves out of buying HoT and switching games. MMO playership is growing, but there is ever more and more MMOs to play so each individual game has more competition.
There is much more to point to the contrary. Big-name MMO’s shutting down, MMO’s doing server merges, MMO’s dropping fees and prices in a desperate attempt to gain and keep players, big-name MMO’s like WoW having their populations drop substantially.
When people leave one MMO and go to another and yet more others only to find them generically the same, they eventually leave the genre entirely to play or do something else more engaging, since no developer in the MMO genre has the imagination to reinvent it or do anything substantial with it.Raids were never in their vision for their game.
- They reworked Revenant based on the player feedback from that beta weekend.
- There’s changes coming based on the player feedback from this last beta weekend.
- Traits 3.0 is partially the result of the massive pushback from Traits 2.0.
- The Wardrobe, Account Bound Dyes, changing soulbound gem shop items to account bound are all based on player feedback.
- Remove WvW maps from world complete.
You’re upset because of a lack of confirmation you are being heard, the speed that change happens and the fact that sometimes, often your feedback isn’t what’s acted upon.
So, no mounts, dueling, race change, inspection tools, 3rd party plugins, UI customization, instant waypoint unlocks, buying the expansion with gems, removing timegates, banning flipping, price regulation, or other often repeated requests that conflict with their vision of their game.
And in one post this whole thread went from productive to fanboy. You’ll be the last person on the game screaming how good it is and hoping somebody hears you because anet pushed everybody else away.
While yours was nothing but ANet/GW2 bashing. You don’t like the game, don’t play it. You don’t hang around and tell everyone else how much of an idiot they are for still playing.
You don’t seem to understand that it’s their game and as players are only input is if we choose to play or not. This is true with every game from every developer out there. Now devs could choose to placate us to keep us playing but they shouldn’t change the underlying DNA of their game simply to keep the most noisy players happy. WildStar listened to those players wanting a casual free, ultra hard core play experience and now that game has 1/10th the income that GW2 has. GW2 is still cruising along as NCSOFT’s #3 MMO in income for the last 2 quarters after Lineage and Blade & Soul so they must be keeping someone happy.
MMOs are time consuming and as player get older and platforms shift to mobile devices and those games must be something that a session can be played in 5 minutes it’s only natural that MMO populations are decreasing. Older players have life that keep them from devoting as much time as they use to while younger players have been weened on Candy Crush and Fruit Ninja and don’t have the attention span to get caught up in the grind of any MMO.
With GW2, ANet tried to create an MMO experience that “filthy casuals” can play. This means no long raids, short events and “quests”, activities that someone can do if they have a half an hour to spare as well as not having aggravations that could drive them away (DUELME!!DUELME!!DUELME!DUELME!!DUELME!!…).
Just substitute Britney with Anet. Thanks

Doubt it, then anet would have to do actual work. Maybe if they sold it as a gem store option they’d be more inclined to care enough to work on it.
No, MMOs are moving away from players. Take GW2 for a perfect example.
Anet keeps ignoring feedback, won’t communicate with the player base, and time after time kittens on their loyal veteran player base in favor of grabbing new fleeting players.
I wish people would stop saying this. Anet doesn’t ignore feedback. Which doesn’t mean they take all feedback. For example, some people ask for dueling. Many say they don’t want dueling. No matter what Anet does they’re listening to feedback.
When someone says Anet isn’t listening to feedback what they’re really saying is the decisions Anet is making is moving away from MY feedback.
Which is another story entirely.
No, I wish YOU would stop saying what you’re saying because YOU are wrong.
Anet has time and time again ignored us. They won’t tell us what they are working on. They won’t give us more dungeons. They won’t give us raids. They only produce content for the gem store. This is not MY feedback, this is the feedback of anybody who isn’t an anet fanboy who refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing from their god.
I think the events are broken, they don’t scale well and take too long.
Pre-Launch sylvari were more like Elves than plant people. I liked that concept people because Sylvari are ugly as far as what we got goes.
All of my fears of this class have come to pass. Traps are useless and the longbow is not an effective ranged damage weapon. This has not only brought nothing new to the Guardian but it also hasn’t brought options for anything old either. Huge disappointment. I’m putting this class and tempest in the trash bin. At least chronomancer and Reaper came out good.

It fells fine at the moment but i am not sure if its slow enough considering that its account wide. Would need to be tested for a bit more.
oh right, I forgot it was account-wide. That does change my opinion a bit.
It’s pretty obvious Anet prefers warrior/ele/guardian (and recently mesmer too) above the other classes. That’s why i’m surprised to see necro this time instead of warrior.
By having less beta testing for engineer/ranger/thief, Arenanet basically admits that they do not care much for these classes.
Also I’m tired of people justifying this mistreatment by saying: “It’s still unfinished”. If all that stuff is still unfinished Arenanet and everybody else can forget about that 2015 release.
Saying ANet has “favourite class(es)” is like saying a particular raindrop fell on you during a rainstorm because it hates you personnally.
ANet is a company with a lot of people doing a lot of different task. It having a preference as a whole toward a class is beyond ridiculous.
A class getting something good isn’t “preference”, it is basic game developpement. Get over it.And about this 2015 release: no release date, or even window, was ever mentionned. For the exact reason they where too far from release to get any prediction on it. Some specialization being unfinished is exactly what we should expect at this point.
They literally said they are committing to a 2015 release.
It seems slow, but I think that can mostly be attributed to the events being poorly designed and/or scaled. Some of the events take 20 minutes to do so getting the XP to lvl up just takes forever.
If they’re going to keep people from being social in a social game then they might as well have a separate server for the beta. Can’t even rep your guild in GUILD WARS 2.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-first-beta-weekend-event-begins-august-7/
“Not only will you be able to take your characters to the jungle, you can take them into the existing game world as well! PvE, PvP, or WvW—feel free to try out the new profession or elite specializations on the live game with all your friends and guildies.”
So yes, I can’t try out kitten with my guildies because I can’t rep my guild.
Whats the big idea? I thought we were going to be able to rep guilds this weekend. Bogus
This expansion just seems less and less appealing with each new announcement. I hope challenging group content isn’t disappointment.
Can anet actually confirm this? Because it sounds extremely unacceptable.
Can people stop asking for the trinity already? This game is better than other game because it doesn’t have the trinity.
Somebody didn’t watch the recent live stream of Grouch playing Dragonhunter. LB and traps are going to be fine additions.
If you’re talking about during the Dragon Hunter POI I watched that. He fought an NPC and an afk thief. Good job! /s
Oh man those generalizations. “Nobody” is going to use traps or longbow? I didn’t realize when you spoke for me or for every other person too. The kitten class hasn’t even been played live once yet, you have ZERO clue on how the traps will affect the metagame or how much of a game changer a heavy hitting 1200 CC/power weapon will help guardians.
But keep speaking for everyone anyways, you do not look anything like a fool.
No, I can 100% without a doubt say for a fact that the traps are useless and now and will be useless at launch. I can also say that you are absolutely deluded if you’re calling the dragon hunter longbow as anet has presented it a heavy hitting power weapon. It is a piece of kitten with no real damage capability. I bet you also run guardian staff and think that hits hard too.
Uh…yes it does. Meta means whatever the populace decided it means. And it means most effective.
These changes are terrible. What game mode did you have mind when thinking of these changes? It would suck in PvE, PvP, and WvW. No one would ever take this specialization over the existing trait lines.
As opposed to the totally not sucky choices anet made right? What a joke. Nobody is going to use traps or that garbage longbow that anet designed either but you keep being a fanboy.
This was done intentionally, enough said. The story takes place in the past before Living Story season 1 so it wouldn’t make sense to be in the new LA.
