I find it curious that some groups kill him super fast while others are failing miserably.
…since i understood how that exploit works, i’m no longer surprised by those speed kills.
I don’t think it’s an exploit exactly. It was here for atleast 2+years and Anet still hasn’t done anything.I think what they only have to increase the critting spots.
I’m not talking about the crit spot. I am talking about that new guard bug.
can someone explain to me how this is a bug? Not debating here, just trying to understand, doesn’t it just 10% damage to enemies standing in the symbol?
10% for each symbol
4 symbols per guardian
20 guardians
= 800% damage increase
50k hits per auto attack are fairly simple.
This is why Teq is succeeding, not any magic strategy. They forgot to limit it to each guardian or one symbol.
It succeeds without this as well. Shame people need crutches.
I highly doubt it. You couldn’t possibly make this claim. Every zerg is filled with Guardians. And most guardians are running symbolic avenger. Whether they are willingly doing it or intentionally doing it they are still doing it and everybody is still benefiting from it.
Attached is my level 80 mesmer vs my level 21 mesmer in full level 20 greens except not accessories and a backpiece because they don’t seem to exist at that level.
My level 21 Mesmer has 64 more power than my level 80 in full level 80 exotic gear and ascended accessories. That is a 28% difference in power…..
Convenient also (see my quote in the post before) how you forgot the nearly doubled critchance and the added defense. Yeah your downleveled char is so much weaker…
None of which matters at those levels. There is a reason gear only comes with 1 stat at those levels and its because power is all that matters. Also yeah,. my extra 5% chance to crit is totally going to change anything. And health? I’ll gladly trade that extra 3 health and toughness to fill the power gap because low level mobs shouldnt even be able to touch me.
This isn’t a matter of “har har, some stuff is higher than others” The main stat that is important is a ridiculous 28% lower. TWENTY EIGHT PERCENT. That is huge. Its even larger than a level 80 wearing rare gear compared to a level 80 wearing ascended gear.

I can’t really understand why anybody would defend a system where a low level toon has more power than a decked out in ascended gear 80. I know I throw the word fanboy around a lot but this is the pinnacle of fanboyism.
from your comment, dinks is a good name for you. less qq, more pewpew. if you are struggling more, then your build might need work, theres places to look for help w/ that. if u just miss 1 shotting mobs, then we have diff opinions on fun. i never enjoyed how easy it was too roll thru lowbie zones when thats where new content was being released (ls stuff). altho, i haven’t had any probs w/ the new scaling either so, i’d say its prob your build
I am going to ignore most of what you said because your argument is so dull you had to resort to personal attacks and jump right to the point. The fact that you can defend a system where high level characters are physically weaker than low level character is absurd and outright stupid. you SHOULD be more powerful. I should have an advantage. I SHOULD be able to go to low level zones and feel more powerful than the mobs and everybody else. Otherwise they might as well remove gear and leveling all together.
My build is great and you have nothing to say other than personal attacks. Really shows the fanboyism on these forums going into overdrive. Nobody is asking to be one shotting mobs again, we just want downscaling to make sense and not make us weaker than level 10s in greens.
Here is a quite from JS the game economist about price inequality of mats of the same tiers:
You don’t micromanage markets to maintain equilibrium. Not only is it an incredible amount of work you can never be wrong in, it’s not physically possible inside a live game environment.
You assume that absolute parity is required inside of tiers, I don’t necessarily agree.
I’m not here to play mini wall street. I am here to have fun and build cool skins. Why does every game these days try to run their economy like real life and force all of the wealth the one small portion of the population. It is ridiculous and disturbing. Even in games we can’t escape the rich getting richer by ripping off everybody else.
I can’t really understand why anybody would defend a system where a low level toon has more power than a decked out in ascended gear 80. I know I throw the word fanboy around a lot but this is the pinnacle of fanboyism.
DR or Rata Sum, the new LA is pretty but pretty much useless for function.
There is no reason why my decked out level 80 should be weaker than a low level character. Completely ridiculous.
Wow…. all this sounds like when Teq first had its upgrade and no one could beat it for a while. Then players got used to what needed to be done when, and it started being beaten. I’m not a regular Teqqie (did I just coin a phrase?) but is it ALWAYS failing now, or are some able to beat it?
Edited to say I see Immortal.3647’s post above.
To clarify Teq needed to be nerfed twice to be doable by the masses the last time they changed it.
Just hopped on a Sparkfly map 5 minutes before spawn time. 3-4 people gave good direction, and people made an effort to actually work together, and without too much effort we beat the event with more than 3 minutes to spare.
Look folks, all it takes is a will to step away from 1-1-1-1-1 and actually do the event “right”. Skeleton crews at turrets and range, and massive zerg at crit spot, drop cleanse on there, take down the fingers – the usual, only with a bit of focus. Oh and a few leaders who guide people. That’s all.
Oh, so what you’re saying is it takes a miracle. You expect the average map to be able to get enough pugs willing to listen + wear useful gear + know how to dodge + not scale up defenses. Yeah, a miracle it is. I’m sorry but open world and organized don’t go together. A few trolls or a few people not caring will ruin the entire event.
Stop whining so much.People alsready begin to grasp how to do it.Give it a bit more time.I bet in the end of this month all those complains won’t be here.
That is a ridiculous statement. The change itself was a knee-jerk reaction to condi damage being so powerful. I’ve heard of a handful of anecdotes of people claiming to have beaten it with more than 2 minutes on the clock. And I am willing to bet all of those maps were done with large guilds who all stacked on the melee crit cleave spot. Anet needs to do one or both of two things. Lower the HP pool slightly or fix the crit spot so that Teq can be crit no matter where you hit him. Until that happens Teq will never be a pug friendly fight again. And since doing challenging open world content is an oxymoron it defeats the whole point.

Teq was already not rewarding enough when it was a faceroll event… Now its harder than TTW and even less rewarding for its reward. With that said I think simply fixing the crit spot so that he is actually crittable and not one little spot on him is crittable would fix a big chunk of the problem and make it not a problem at all.
People are still running their soldiers gear. Equip your zerker set or your condi equivalent. This fight just became a DPS race again.
No, Hero points are used to unlock utilities and specializations. Spirit shards are a currency. Used like old skill points at the forge vendor. Mastery points are not in the game yet and will be gained by using mastery point challenges/communes around the new zones. Once unlocked you can level up a mastery just by playing the game.
None of these are the same thing or should be treated as the same thing.
As somebody who owns almost every cultural set short of just about 5. No thanks. Unless anet wants to refund me tons of gold.
You guys did an amazing job with the design and implementation of LA but I think everything is just too spread out. The bank, the TP, and crafting stations are way too spread out. That is one thing the broken down LA got right. It had various areas for each of those and they were all relatively close.
The hover list was super compact, it never took up a lot of space. I doubt it would get too large unless they added at least double what we have right now.
You mean the difference between pre-patch ascended and post-patch ascended?
No, the fun is getting the reward. The journey is a means to the end. If you don’t want help then turn off chat and avoid social games. You want to do everything by yourself then there are tons of single player games you can enjoy.
Are people seriously kittening about being helped? The players of this game kitten me off sometimes. Incredibly ungrateful jerks.
Sorry, Metas were figured out almost immediately. It really wasn’t that hard. A lot hasn’t changed with the game so it was just picking the best options in the new system.
It is Fashion Wars 2, other players being able to disable our fashion choices would just discourage us from playing!
Sorry, I understand the sentiment, but no. There are plenty of long and brutal JPs, but checkpoints has never been a thing, and shouldn’t be.
They did it in Silverwastes. Where have you been? With that said, this JP isn’t that bad. I ran it 3 times yesterday for the guild. Bring a mesmer and lay a lot of emergency portals.
Yeah what a farce.. All my lvl 80’s had everything unlocked and all had spare SP’s on them… in fact one of them alone had in excess of 1000 SP’s and a stack in the bank.. now all my toons have to spend some of those converted spare SP’s to re spend unlocking stuff I already spent on previous…. unbelievable.
Also.. those shards……. All my lvl 80’s (11 of them) had 100-1000+ SP’s spare on them (plus a stack extra in the bank) so why do I now only have 960 shards to use.. the cost of the forge items haven’t been altered but the exchange rate of SP’s to shards is a complete rip off.. 1SP SHOULD = 1 shard if the item costs are the same.
No you don’t, you’re not spending a single one of your old skill points on anything. Traits and skills are essentially free now.
Hover wallet had all of the information I ever needed. And I didn’t have to click into anything to see it. If this is intentional it is a huge disappointment that anet would intentionally remove a QoL change like this to make things less convenient.
Why in the name of all that is unholy would a skill called Consume Conditions designed to remove conditions from your character give your character conditions. With this change Necros officially have no useful heal skill.
It appears that in the process of updating the new wallet you broke the hover option as well. Hoping to get this back soon as it is a great QoL change and losing it is very disappointing and step backwards.
The old one was superior because it had the hover wallet in inventory. End of discussion.
Why would you replace the intuitive hover wallet which had a nice list feature with this bulky unattractive space wasting click in UI that doesn’t even retain the same size as my inventory window?

This just in, more people have opinions!
True!
Unlike you, I don’t have 81 PAGES worth.
Teach me how to impose my opinions on such a grand scale like you have.
Have others agree with you. Pretty simple right?

You are like the 20th person to post this EXACT thing. Take it to one of the already existing threads
No, this guy is special. He needs to show off to the rest of his friends how cool he is with his edgy pro anet statement about how we’re all being whiney babies. We should just bend over and take it because Anet is our lord and savior.
I’ve read quite a bit of complaining about how $50 isn’t worth one new map and class. Basically I’m thinking that some people are a bit confused about the content of HoT. Maybe because pre purchase is available they think that the thing’s almost done? I dunno. This is just to say that – for one thing – we still have probably only seen about a third MAXIMUM of what was announced to be in the expansion pack, we aren’t off this hype train yet! Secondly, if you don’t think that the price tag is worth what we’ve seen so far, just wait a while until they announce more or don’t pre purchase / buy the x pack at all. Anyways, there’s my rant. Just a reminder that there’s more HoT stuff to come.
But they’ve already said that all of the main features have been announced.
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/105801626-Guild-Wars-2-Heart-of-Thorns-FAQ
It is at the bottom. Not that we should ever trust their FAQ because they change it and lie whenever they feel like it.
With that said, if all the major features are already revealed and we’re just waiting on little details that doesn’t bode well for the expansion.
I dont want u to do anything i just say it as it is no reason to explain
Dude, your thread title is literally telling us to do something.
If you didn’t want to convey a message, you wouldn’t have made a post on the forum in the first place, so don’t give me that rubbish.i just wanted to see ur reaction turned out as expected
You mean you expected to be called out on your bullkitten?
they got their refund
Uh no they did not. I know many people who were denied refunds because they fell for the trick 2 months ago instead of last week. Or people who grabbed a copy from their local game store are not eligible for refunds as well. Anet made their bed and now they’re throwing a fit refusing to sleep in it. Their “refunds” are bogus as hell. Basically “Yeah, we’ll delete your account and you can buy HoT for a new account”.
If you don’t want us to do anything you wouldn’t have made a post that was literally just telling people what to do.
Actually that is exactly how things get changed. Sitting around like an idiot without sharing your opinion and complaining to the people incharge is in fact how you change nothing.
This is a non-issue. Its a guild decision. If you don’t like the guilds decision leave it and find one that has what you want. Its like the whole 100% rep guild situation. Don’t like that policy? Leave the guild. Pretty simple if you ask me.
Well its a feature that most of us wont be able to try. Thats the point. Its a major feature but not being able to use it will be a killing blow. Like a HoT without a slot for Revenant. ..
Not at all similar. You have to pay an extra $10 for character slot to play Revenant. Guilds are free to make, don’t like the way your guild handles Guild Halls? Make your own and do it how you want. Don’t complain later tho when your hall is a giant mess of random crap everywhere. You’re the one that wanted everybody and their mothers uncles dogs previous owner to be able to decorate.
Ey, guys. I feel like most of you dont understand how B2P MMO works….
I hope Anet isnt angry cause of your behavior guys and they’re not going to do something wrong in the future, cause of the last situation.
I feel like you don’t understand how not shafting your existing customer base works. And we don’t need to wait for them to do something wrong in the future, they’ve already done it.
yeah I read that as a “I hope mommy and daddy aren’t mad at me for being upset!”. It makes no sense. Why should we worry about upsetting anet when all they’ve done since HoT went up for sale was refuse to acknowledge us and upset us?
Doubtful, maximum is maximum.
1) False statement: The original GW2 game is needed to play the expansion GW2:HoT
Except that this is not a false statement. The core game is required in order to able to play HoT.
The fact that they include the core the game in the expansion pack further supports that it is a true statement.
What you’re trying to prove is that Anet misled you into needing to purchase the core game, which yes could be implied from that statement. However, that is not what the statement says, and no where did they ever claim that they would not include the base game in the purchasable package (then, or now).
Legalese….so (not) fun.
I looked at my account page after adding HoT to my account. It doesn’t say “core” and “HoT” It says only and I repeat ONLY “HoT”. It is treated as a stand-alone as far as the game is concerned.
Okay after reading this i found out we in europe have to pay more then americans do?
Normal pack costs $50 wich is € 44.07 and we have to pay € 44.99 wich is $ 51.08 ( $1.08 more Its nothing to say about that is normal)
The deluxe version costs $75 wich is € 66.06 we have to pay € 74.99 wich is $ 85.14 ( $ 10.14 more its huge!!)
The ultimate version costs $100 wich is € 88.08 we have to pay € 99.99 wich is $ 113.53 ( $ 13.53 more, its huge)(I’ve converted this with the status for 20-6-2015 at 00.22 GMT+01)
You cannot take converted money into account you have to take in things like how much does the average consumer make. If you make on average 8 pounds an hour and the average north American make 7 dollars an hour, we are in fact paying more. Which for most products is usually the case.
Figuring for exchange would only factor if you had to import the product which you don’t a dollar is a dollar here and a pound is a pound there.
Just for your information, he is comparing dollars to euros. Not pounds. That’s the UK only.
€ = Euro
£ = PoundJust so you know
I’d say the point still stands regardless. Not to mention people truly like to ignore the difference between VAT and US taxes. VAT is from my understanding already included in the marketed price. US taxes vary by state/city/etc so that is impossible so our marketed cost is pre-tax.
Its not open world guild halls. The location of guild halls is a physical place in the world, but your guild will capture it and access an instanced version of it.
This is a non-issue. Its a guild decision. If you don’t like the guilds decision leave it and find one that has what you want. Its like the whole 100% rep guild situation. Don’t like that policy? Leave the guild. Pretty simple if you ask me.
Veteran here.
I don’t agree with OP.
Stop speaking on my behalf.
Ty.
He said and I quote “From the eyes of a veteran” Not “From the eyes of veterans”. And I as a veteran agree with him so we’re 2 against 1 so far. Guess you can take your toxic nonsense elsewhere until you have something relevant to say.
It would be a good idea, especially with the new guild PvP teams feature.
I do wonder if there’s some technical limitation that will prevent it, though.
No, you use to be able to queue pvp from anywhere in game. Then they changed it and locked us in the lobby making queues boring and honestly making me pvp less.
Yes, but why did they do that? Was there some bug or exploit they were trying to block?
I think they thought less people would cancel queues after they popped. But it just made people not pay attention during queues at all. Which didnt really help.
If you want to decorate a house then stand up out of your chair and have fun.
I liked massively’s article, but i think he missed a point. People aren’t kittened about the “sale” of the original game. No one complained about the 10€ sales (that i’m aware).
The issue is 2 people buy the same thing, one gets 90€ value out of it, another gets 45€.
This added to the already overpriced expansion is adding insult to injury, and THAT’S why people are outraged.
Its not the fact that they’re giving the core game away, its that they’re giving it ONLY to new costumers, old ones may not apply. When WoW puts the expansions in the battle chest, no one bats an eyelid.
The expansions that was priced at 45 Euros get dropped in a bundle that costs 10-15 euros. No problem at all.
There is devaluation connected to aging of the product and it being replaced with a new expansion.
What players have issues is when you totally remove the value of things previously purchased. 40 is 4 times greater than 10. 1 is infinitely greater than zero. Reducing one back to zero is something you can’t afford. Unless your name is Big Boss and it’s the ending of Metal Gear Solid 4.Actually when you buy a battle chest you get separate serial codes for each game. I can take my free core game and throw it to a friend or make a second account. In this case I buy this bundle and if I already have the core game then that part of the bundle just disappears.
They are not selling a bundle. They are selling HoT. If you buy HoT as a new player you are gifted with GW2 Core. Its a gift to new players, not a bundle.
That’s new, since evem Anet used the word bundle and then said “you can’t unbundle”.
Also, the game is free? It was on the shop for 40 euros last week. It drops faster than your credibility when you make such statements.Oh who said “bundle”? I think they made an error by saying that. This is the problem with everyone using popular words, its inaccurate. My description of the situation is correct.
But you aren’t talking about what Anet actually stated, so your description is correct but the reality descripted is non-existant.
I’m describing reality, the person you say used the word “bundle” was incorrect (because its clearly not a bundle as the core game is not included, there is a gift of the core game for those who don’t attach their bought copy of HoT to a core game though).
So you’re saying you know more about the situation than the anet employees commenting on it?
