What is Anet's stance on P2P trading?

If nothing else, the Trading Post eliminates most trading spam. Thank goodness. The game is better off without any Spamadams.

GW1 automatically put all trade spam into the trade channel, you could just turn that kitten off.

Also to the response above that people still got scammed… once again I say…. How? All anet has to do is auto direct all support requests about trade scams to the trash because its hilariously bad if you get scammed with such a system.

Perhaps, you never played Guild Wars (One). There was a reason it was called Spamadam.

I played GW1, since alpha. Now that we’re passed the nonsense I can say with 100% certainty that if you turned the trade channel off there was hardly any spam.

Um no.

See that’s what I thought some one would say people like you only think of them self never of others your response is very rude.

What do you realistically expect someone, or even Anet to do about this? Like is there some easy to do graphic setting or toggle they could include, like some kind of alternate color blind mode, that would offset this?

Actually yes, that is exactly what they should do. But they’re too busy cancelling features and pushing out raids to do anything useful like color blind modes and what not.

I don’t believe the ‘whole account’ is lost when refunding only Heart of Thorns. (They really should update the Knowledge Base.) Many have received refunds without losing their Core game account.

But, as stated above, having used the Gems may invalidate any possible refunds.

You can always contact the CS Team and ask.

Good luck.

“We can look into refunding your Guild Wars 2 purchase. Please note that the code that you are requesting a refund for will be permanently disabled. If you registered the code, all features, including game access, will be removed. If you haven’t used the code, the code cannot be registered.”

Is that a response from your ticket to the CS Team? You do realize there are two different codes on an account that has been upgraded to Heart of Thorns, yes? Disabling the HoT code disables all HoT related features, while disabling the Core code disables the entire account, of course.

Sometimes, you have to ask more than once about something, to get past the more automated responses.

Also, the Ultimate Edition was never ‘supposed’ to be pre-purchase only. The only restriction on the Ultimate Edition was that one could not upgrade from Standard or Deluxe Heart of Thorns to Ultimate Heart of Thorns, pre- or post-release.

No, Anet said outright that when you add HoT to your account it replaces the core code. If you look at your game content in your account page on guildwars2.com you will see Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns and Guild Wars if you have Guild Wars 1. Guild Wars 2 is no longer there because it has been replaced. They said they have no way to revert the game to its previous code. This has all been covered before.

ToK in Black Lion Chests

I’ve already got enough ToKs and level-20/30 auto-boost scrolls on hand to insta-level half a dozen new toons to 80, but I already have 9 level 80 toons, and I have no reason to level any more to 80 at this point.

As a result, I’d much prefer that they either remove ToK’s and other forms boosts from BLCs entirely, or make them able to be sellable on the TP.

While they’re at it, I’d also appreciate some alternate ways to spend the 400+ Transmutation Charges or the 4000+ Spirit Shards that I’ll never use.

Between my lvl 20/30 boosters and my ToK I could probably hit 80 on the character limit and still have some left. If I could give them away to some of these people on here who apparently don’t have any I’m sure we’d both be happier.

Agreed. Happy customers tend to keep quiet. But we also show our satisfaction with our continued spending.

It’s also an example of current expectations not being met due to our experiences with past expectations. For example, Replica Job-o-Tron Backpack, the Log-r-Tron, Reap-r-Tron and Mine-r-Tron collectively have over fifty lines.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2k4fbh/datamining_more_information_about_a_certain/

Glide-R-Tron adds . . . whee!

Part of the reason many were eager for him is because we expected a lot more, and new, lines of dialogue. While I still love the glider, and use it, it’s rather disappointing it only says, “Whee.”

Again, I get that some people feel the Robos are rather mouthy. But for others . . . its part of his charm. And if you don’t like it, don’t buy or use him. I wish he was mouthier. A lot more.

And I hope ANet takes some of the suggestion listed and add more to his dialogue for the glider.

Yeah, just don’t buy it. That’ll somehow stop all the idiots around you from jumping and gliding around being annoying right?

Not a kid. I did do that in college though as I worked to pay my way through on top of loans. However, not once was I ever down to the point where $25 would make it or break it for me.

To be honest, if I was in a situation like that, where anything wrong could happen, I would not even buy the expansion and instead save the money so I have a buffer for emergencies.

When you’re in that type of situation games keep you sane.

And here I thought people wanted scavanger hunts for the easy way to work towards a specific precursor without having to pray to rng jesus

Both, actually. We had the rng way, and we had the “paying through the nose” way. What people wanted was a way based not on rng, not on gold/mat sinks, but on effort.

And that is what we got.

Describe this effort, please, that does not require materials nor gold to achieve, but still has value.

So, skill, effort and time investment do not count at all?

Crafting a precursor after gathering every material is not hard, it just takes time to gather the materials, time being the effort.

Yes, precisely. There’s no effort required in t2 collections. Just mats and gold sink – the same as in buying from tp. Except, quite often, buying off tp is cheaper.

If you want an alternative to “paying through the nose”, it shouldn’t be “paying the same or more, and do a lot of other things on top of it”. Because that’s no alternative at all.

This is pretty spot on, at least half of the precursors cost more to craft than to just buy outright.

ToK in Black Lion Chests

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dinks.2478

Dinks.2478

Well I don’t find any use for the boosters so please remove them as well. In fact, remove any item that can be bought from the TP.

There are players who appreciate those tomes of knowledge even if there are other ways to obtain. them.

The boosters are at least not obtainable from other sources without paying gold/gems.

But I find them useless therefore they should be removed. Unidentified dyes should be removed because you can get them from the laurel merchant and some loot bags. Transmutation charges should be removed because you can get them from map completion and/or re-rolling a character to farm the town map completion. Crafting bags should be removed because you can get the mats by playing the game.

Isn’t that the entire premise on why you don’t want ToK in the bl chests? Whether or not there are other sources doesn’t matter.

No its not the entire premise. You cannot obtain thousands of those other items easily in the game simply by playing.

Wrong. You can obtain them at a much faster rate than you can obtain ToK. Many players find ToK useful either to level up characters or for the spirit shards. They may even find them more useful than the boosters. Why are you thinking that what you find useful to you is the standard on what should and shouldn’t be among the rewards in the BL chests?

Claiming ToK as useful is disingenuous. I have literal stacks of them, there is nothing to do with them once you have 17 level 80s. You get them from just logging in, you get them from PvP, you get them from WvW, you literally get drowned in ToK, you don’t need them in the RNG chests too.

Its not hard to do, just nobody does it. The only time I ever manage to do it is if I show up 30 minutes early, tag up myself, convince others to tag up, get the taxis going and even then it is just stressful trying to get enough people in the map to participate. If only they weren’t account bound, I wouldn’t have to pve to gather enough for another set of ascended (wvw player here, we don’t get them , except a couple if you’re lucky doing an entire reward track).

Otherwise, like most other account bound mats, scrap them after you have a couple thousand spare.

This is one of anets biggest problems. They add all these new currencies and stuff all the time and only like 1 thing to do with them and then you end up with a million of it and nothing to do.

Yeah, I thought the megaserver would send me to a crowded map, like it usually does with other maps, and it’s no problem to just join the meta at any point, but then I suppose all of the taxiing is filling maps right at the beginning of the meta so I always end up in an empty map when I try to do it spontaneously.

That kills most of what I like about gw2: spontaneity. You zone in and stuff is happening and one thing leads to another and if it’s not organized you can just tag up and get kitten done and it just works (usually), but I guess I’ll just start using lfg instead. Not as much fun but at least I get to play the kitten map. xD

Megaservers since HoT launch have been broken in HoT maps, anet doesn’t seem to have any desire to fix it. Gotta use the LFG to get into maps with players.

People complained about the low drop rate of Airship Oil so instead of increasing that, they nerfed the other maps to the same low drop rate, why are these things RnG based, you have already done the events to get the crow bars/acid etc, doing this nerf doesn’t make me want to play the maps more.

Exactly, They basically undid all the good will of the April patch that made me go “Oh cool, this stuffs now not a nightmare to collect”. Back to avoiding HoT maps again like I was pre-April.

Another Patch of more PvP nerfs to PvE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dinks.2478

Splitting skills for PvP and PvE seems to be fine for most of you. It may not be an issue if you only play PvE. It also may not be an issue if you only play PvP.

It is indeed an issue if you play PvE and PvP and both with multiple classes. The required skill knowledge increases drastically and ends up frustrating.

Also remember how confusing and unclear this will be for new players.

Don’t think in that limited mind please: just form your point of only playing one mode.

Please speak for yourself. You might end up frustrated and confused, but lets be real here. To think all new players are mentally deficient is a bad way to go about setting precedence for “balance”.

Balance should be done around the high end of every mode of play. Yes, this increases the “burden of knowledge” but that ultimately creates a healthier state as people have more information as a whole.

Thank you. I find this coddling mentality demeaning to all players.

Remember when they released the NPE? The entire excuse anet gave us was that they thought the game was too hard for new players, it was an extremely insulting statement to make but they made it none the less. It is clear that they still think their player base is too stupid to understand simple concepts.

Suspended for AFK farming

Dinks.2478

As always, the dose makes the poison. I’m sure if you AFK farm for 20 mins-1 hour from time to time because you are bringing kids to school, cooking, have stomach disorders… it is OK. But if you spend nights and days camping one spot while AFK farming you engage an alarm in the system which can detect how much you move Vs how much you loot.
.

I have to disagree, if you are AFK to deal with other issues, then go somewhere else (home , lions etc, a camp in the same map ). No problems with that. But, if you are AFK farming, regardless of the excuses (not reasons) farmers make, then let the warnings fall, followed by the escalating bans if the behavior continues.

lol no… if I need to run afk I am not going to just leave the map I am in. And if my minions decide to kill kitten while I am off doing whatever I had to do that isn’t my fault.

Supply is good just buy it with buy orders and price will fall down,(flippers make gold by buying them with orders and then sell it to players that dont use buy order).

Incorrect, flippers make money by buying in bulk using their mass of wealth and then reselling higher. A low buy order isn’t going to change anything because that isn’t how prices work, in order to lower prices supply needs to be dumped into the market and power traders aren’t about to do that.

All in all its another anet policy that harms new players and lower end players while making the rich richer.

I just want to say thank you for not adding more legendary weapons to the game I’m sure I’m in the minority but hey – our voices exist, too and you should hear them. Thank you.

Still very much confused by these posts. You’re literally thanking them for not adding content somebody else paid for simply because you don’t necessarily plan to play that content. Pure selfishness.

No they are actually thanking them for not wasting time on more grind content that they have most likely never used, never wanted and don’t care about..

Now Anet can focus on actual real in game content over some fancy overpriced graphics to show off in Lions Arch..

I do agree though what Anet did to you guys is wrong and just was a bait and switch on customers.

But to me if they never made anymore useless legendaries and those hideous grinds to go with it the game will be much better off for it in the long run.

Bullkitten, You’re literally thanking them for kittening over their customers. Where is that “real content” they were focusing on huh? It has been nearly 2 months since this post and 7 months since HoT launch, where is season 3? Where is raid wing 3? Where are new fractals? Where are the balance changes to dungeons to account for the massive power creep? Oh nowhere, anet just doesn’t get it, and it seems you never will too.

This game has and always will be bout horizontal cosmetic progression, legendaries were one of the original games selling points and they were the 1st expansion primary A second set was promised back in 2013, we didn’t get them. A second set was promised with a PAID expansion with HoT and we didn’t get them. So when they sell a 2nd expansion and it doesn’t sell, they have nobody to blame but themselves and people like you.

Dinks.2478

Sad.

Guild Wars 2 is destined to end up like Lineage 2 in terms of performance. No matter what hardware people get, the performance will always be bad.

My performance has been great the last four years. If I were to upgrade it would be even better. The same goes for other people. As they upgrade their computers, they will eventually be able to play on higher graphics settings. The graphics on the highest settings look infinitely better than WoW and that game has been out for over a decade.

I don’t belive that.
Put all your settings on high and try to get 60 fps at WvW or any populated events like boss kills etc.
It’s just not possible.

About 144 FPS … big NOPE.

If game can acctually utilize hardware ressources before it brings us FPS lagg, that great optimisation.

But what you see in GW2? CPU usage at 40%, GPU usage at 30%, but FPS are dropping. Ehem why you no use 100% CPU and GPU GW2? Why?

We don’t acctually need DX12. We just need this game to be better optimised and acctually use Hyper Threading and utilize 100% of GPU and CPU if it needs to.
Sadly this 10 years old engine can’t do that, and won’t ever be able to do so.

You do not need 60fps to have a game playable. As lng as it’s over 24fps your brain will not tell you differently. Once it drops below 24fps, your brain will notice. This whole “game must run at 60fps or its garbage” is in fact garbage it’s self. I can play the game with everything on max and I never notice frame drops, ever. If you are seeing frame drops, you are doing something wrong.

If you cant notice the difference between 30fps and 60fps then I don’t know what to say, other than you are unique.

https://www.quora.com/Why-do-movies-look-smooth-at-24-fps-but-video-games-look-terrible-at-24-fps-Is-it-because-of-motion-blur

Or, I know not to turn my resolution up to max.the only difference I’ve ever noticed with games is the UI size when resolution is involved.

Like I said, if you are noticing frame drops you are doing something wrong.

That means you have things turned up too high for your system. Every system is unique. So no two systems will work the same. But you know this already right?

So its the end users fault that the game engine is single threaded and thus cpu limited? wow!!!!!!! And its their fault when they go to verdant brink that the fps are absolute horrible? wow!!! And its their fault that when even the game is set to the lowest of settings that the fps still identical to the fps at max setting (cpu limited symptom), wow!!!!

If they have a potato of a PC, then yes it’s the end users fault. If you do not under stand that the system is not as good as the end user think it is, yes it is the end users fault. If the end user is getting the same fps on low settings as high, then yes they are most definitely at fault.

If your FPS is the same on low as it is on high then it is in fact poor optimization that is at fault, not the end user.

Lets be real here for a second.

Anet pushes the demand for an item, and then controls the supply as well. So in what world does the player have anything to do with a high demand item that has a limited supply? You have 2 options, one is wait over a year for your dreadfully slow intake of mystic coins for ONE item and two is to buy them at whatever price the market demands because you have to there is only one other slow and unrealistic way to get them.

So what do we do? We ask for anet to make changes and what are we told? That it is our fault? I guess I am the crazy one.

(It fit since there were littler mobs/adds running around in the fight) Not seeing anything on my bar that would lock down a mob, I brushed it off as a skill I did not have on that particular character. Why? Because Crowd Control is what CC stood for, for me, since 1999 when I first started playing MMORPGs. After the fight, I asked someone what profs had CC abilities and was told “everyone has at least one”. Hmm… that told me to go looking at the wiki for my characters. Even my husband was confused, because also coming from over a decade in other MMORPGs, he started looking for an ability that sleeps/locks down adds as well.

This is exactly me too – all the games I have ever played CC stands for crowd control – and I don’t have any, so yesterday after failing again at Vinetooth I finally asked – I felt like a Chump because I felt embarrassed that I don’t know how to play my own class. But, several people actually offered up the explanations of what it means and there were a TON of other people that thanked me for asking the “stupid” question. We definitely all learned what it means yesterday and I’m very thankful to the person that explained it and to the mesmers that offered me advice on which skills to use.

I also feel that there should be some kind of tutorial early on in the HOT story line to explain the whole concept. And for the community to use CC which is a term that has been used for kitten near 20 years and means something completely different to most of the MMO community isn’t all that smart.

What? You have crowd control, this game uses crowd control. Knockbacks, cripples, freezes, chills, fears, taunts, barriers, knockdowns, dazes, stuns, all of this kitten in crowd control. You are going to tell me your class has none of these things?

Since the Shield is a Level 0 Masterwork item, does one really need to throw in 4 Rare Level 75+ (or what would equal Level 75 or 76) weapons?

Yes, because these weapon skins are specifically tied to 4 rares being thrown in.

You are right, they disappear completely when I glide, but only on HOT, when I glide in central Tyria they reappear after landing.

oh, and i wanted to post it in the bugs section, must have missklickt somewhere, is there a way to move it?

I’m sure a mod will either move it or remove it. Anyway this has been reported plenty of times, just doesn’t seem to be on the top of their fix list.

Not only has it (and a bunch of other old skins) been added back already just recently but the price has already dropped massively to a completely acceptable 300-400g and will probably continue to drop even lower.

I am still pretty sure this bug is related to gliding, my mini always turns off when I glide and it never comes back.

New Guild Hall ideas

I made this post on reddit and was advised by Gaile to post in the forums. I hope I am posting in the right section. But here it is:

I dont know if this has been suggested before, but I noticed that Lost Precipice has a very “earth” like theme. Where as the Gilded Hollow has a very “water” like theme.
Wouldnt it be awesome if we had another guild hall released somewhere near Metrica or near Rata Novus, that had an “air” like theme, but was a guild hall floating in air? It could look like another Rata?

And may be a “fire” like theme too? somewhere in the volcanoes? It would be awesome to have more choices. But I hope with these added choices, guilds that already own a guild hall, would be allowed to “migrate” their hall. Something like what happens with Terrans in Starcraft where you just lift off and move, a guild can have all its NPCs just pack up and move. With a “tragic” story of why the old hall fell, or the likes. I dont know. I think it would be awesome!

as for the air bit..
When Anet finally introduces the “Tengu” race that so many people want to see in game, This would be a nice guildhall option. This could be what some maps in their region could look like.

The Tengu are between Caledon and Lions Arch, probably on those Islands. Pretty sure the Tengu don’t fly but I guess some sort of floating islands might work… idk.

Why are people so afraid of raiding?

I’m not afraid of raiding, it takes too much time. One person makes a mistake and the entire group suffers for it with time. So I can join an inexperienced team and we all fail together but that is hours and hours of time investment a day to get better. Or I could join an experienced team and run with them but then I am the weak link and I won’t be the cause for wasting other peoples time either. Raids are simply too much of a time sink.
