Regarding WvW;
Are the World vs World maps similar in size to the current ones?

Apart from Lava pools, what other cool mechanics will we see in WvW when we take control of Keeps and Towers?

Regarding Guild Halls;
When you say “grow” our Guild Hall, does that mean it’ll be an instance in the Maguuma jungle that we as Guilds will have to cultivate?

Regarding Stronghold in PvP;
Will you or Have you considered giving Stronghold a separate queue to Conquest for the launch of the game? Because some people may be returning just to play that. (if they don’t answer this question tell them “ANSWER ME!!” in a Batman voice)

1v1 Tournament and more competitions

In the 1v1 you are locked into a character (so therefore a class) for the entire month. This way you can’t cheese so easily as there will be at least 1 thing your build cant handle

You can still counterbuild a lot without switching classes. I was guard the whole time and I didn’t have a single hard matchup the whole cup because I got lucky brackets and engi is just too easy to counterbuild against with any class. :<

I think the reason why you won that 1v1 is because people don’t know how to counter the condi guard (and you should totally beat Rangers as well). And sure you can counter build but good players know how to deal with their counters on a 1v1 level.

I think it’s pretty safe to assume that the traitlines will include multiple legends. Right now theres only half the selection of major traits in each line, compared to other classes. So most likely, they will add 3 more major traits to the adept and master tiers, and with these, incorporate one additonal Legend to each traitline.

That makes eight legends if the last two traitlines are similar.

Yep I agree. Only 1 trait specially mentions “legendary demon stance” in the “Malix” line. And the “dwarf line” doesn’t even mention any specific ones for him. There’s plenty of room to add other traits for specific legends. Or, they can always add a second “legendary demon” that has a different focus, though that’s a bit unlikely.

With the way that is phrased, it seems there may be more than one “Demon stance”. Here’s to hoping for Kanaxai.

On a different note;
I’ve also had a good think about it and I think 7 Legends is the better and more interesting option to 4 Legends and more utility skills per Legend but that’s just my opinion.

I think you need to take a second look at the Revenant traits. If what the Revenant has is what you want, some great traits but A LOT of passive RNG, then I think you’re looking at the class with rose-tinted shiny wrapper glasses.

Or actually may be that’s just what you like and in that case, I can’t begrudge you for that.

Check necro traits and tell me that’s what you want instead.

I’m not saying the old traits are all good. Just that you guys seem to be putting the Revee on this high pedestal that you shouldn’t really. Especially when you haven’t experienced it to it’s full extent.
You can say “Oh these traits sound amazing!” but that’s what we were all saying before launch and look where we are now.

How do you know it won’t change the weakness of the profession when they’ve said some specializations would alter the core mechanics of a class? Now I’m not saying it will, I’m just asking you how you know it won’t.

In my opinion, all you’ve got is assumptions and theories, not fact. And you’re not even sure the Mesmer is only get a Shield. Every other class that we know of, (engie, Necro, Ranger and possibly Guardian) is getting 5 skills, just because you only saw a shield does not mean they aren’t getting something else.

I haven’t said anything about weaknesses or strengths of core professions. I’ve said that their design of skills and traits is lacking. We have countless uninteresting traits and skills which aren’t being used at all or are being used to maximise damage (+%damage) but don’t change anything. Now compare that to revenant. That’s the whole point of OP. And it doesn’t matter if specialisations add something new because the core of the professions isn’t touched.

Without it, I would NEVER pay these 200 crystals for the episode where I just replay common events in Iron Marches. Without it I would stay as far away as humanly possible from the Dry Top aka “I can kick you from the cliff and you can’t”. Without it I would NEVER suffer another line of Marjory <3<3 Kasmeer dialogues and kept miles away from the “one dumb male & 4 wonderfull females” group.

Kinda sad that people are willing to go through content they don’t enjoy just because they get a shiny reward in the end. This is the reason why ArenaNet does not have to even bother trying to make fun content – they know they don’t need to, people are going to play regardless as long as they get a reward for it.

Content is subjective mate. There are people who think Living Story Season 2 has been fun especially when played back to back.

Since Shiro Tagachi is a very popular character among players as well as he’s one of the characters that deserve the “legendary” title the most, combined with the fact that ANet keeps saying that they’re going to implement both “good” and “evil” legendary hero stances, I can definitely see them putting him as one of the remaining legends, most likely a direct damage oriented one. And since that’s the current PvE meta, that’s going to be my legend – Shiro. (Legendary Traitor Stance? :P)

I would be more interested in seeing Kanaxai be the Legend that does that. But I’ve always loved Shiro’s Blades so it’s hard to pick.

New Guardian Bow Specialization

How about we get fixes to our weapons before we go adding new kitten? After watching the utility/offense or utility/defense built into all the abilities on the new class…they better re-work some of our weapons if the ‘old-school’ classes are going to keep up

Compared to other classes the guardian already falls behind when it comes to offensive utility & unless your using hammer or mace it can for defensive utility as well.

After looking at the rev all I can say is I hope they take a serious look at the guardian weapon skills, utilitys, elite skills & traits.

Psst – Anet says Guard in Gud Place…. since beta….

“good place” can be very vague.

Guard is good when teammates are around for you to buff or to CC/snare/chill enemies for you, however if your solo there are glaring holes in the toolkit.

They try to make up for that with making guardians extremely strong when allies are around but in the end it would be better if the guardian had tools like cripple/chill for it’s offensive spec.
Then they could adjust them without breaking them so easy.

guardian is a 1 man killingmachine if there is at least 1 person with some worthwile roots and slows.

but alone ? we have like 5252626 bilion capclosers but they worth nothing when the enemy just runs away from us lol.

when im alone and fighting eles hunters or MESMERS !!!! the bennyhill music starts playing in a never ending loop………

This ^ is why I gave up playing the regular meditation spec & changed over to the medi burn spec.

The burst is much lower, survivability the same but it beats the ever loving $#!^ out of longbow rangers & most mesmers due to constant 800 per tick burns & poison
on weapon swap.

last time i tryed to play Condi ANYTHING in Spvp with any class conditions got removed left and right 24/7 feelt like everyone and their grand mother have infinite spammable condi removal on a 1 sec cd……and the dmg got healed back by all them regens ALSO everywhere….

that was the part when i decided i never gonna play condi builds with anything in this game…..

You’re playing the build wrong … the application frequency of burning > frequency of removal. Sure, some get removed but they can’t stay that way for long. In fact, the game FAVOURS condition application frequency over cleansing so your experience is rather exceptional.

His experience really depends on who he’s fighting. If an Engie and an Ele are in the same fight together and you apply burning before the Engie has used his heal or the Ele has entered Water, then the burning won’t stick.

Specialications will just give you one new weapon (lolshield for a mesmer) and some utilities. They won’t change what’s wrong with some core professions unless they would rework them which will not happen. In other words, revenant is being designed with the experience gained from the design of failed core professions. What devs showed during the PoI was that every skill has a reason and was created with that mindset. Even autoattacks. Plus traits.

I don’t think this is true because of the white arrow above the utility slots. There’s something to switch, I guess it’s more of the legend-specific utilties, I may be wrong though.

So I sound touchy, whatever he’s the one splitting hairs over status effect over condition.

As it stand there is confusion on how Taunt will interact with existing mechanics. But not like Dirame is adding anything to the discussion other than calling me out.

But text isn’t the best medium to infer emotions, outside of choice of words and context of statement.

I agree with Bhawb. Taunt is a status effect and it will interact with other effects like Fear does. Only it won’t be a condition.

I like the idea of legend skills being locked, personally. Legends should in theory be iconic for some reason or another; it’d be weird to have some of Jalis mixed with some of Mallyx or whoever else is introduced.

They only have to make more utilities to match the amount that other classes have. If they have 4 legends currently having 3 utility skills each, they only need 2 more each to meet the 20 utility quota.

I don’t think that’s asking too much to be fair.

Could we see future reworks of exisitng professions to make them on par with Revenant or should everyone just reroll the new profession on day one and forget about the past?

Specializations.

How do specializations solve the problem? From what we know, they take something away from a profession and give something new…

They don’t add cool animations and effects, they don’t make badly designed skills/weapons like necro axe/dagger, ranger sword/axe or warrior rifle good out of the sudden. Why? Because these weapons are based on simple tech like spam one to do dmg, press 2 to knock back, etc.

The skills on the right half of your bar are tied to the legend which you are currently invoking.

Lets see if I can phrase this unambiguously:

When I am invoking Bob the Mighty, will I have a Bob-themed pool of skills to choose from when filling out my right-hand tray, or does channeling Bob the Mighty give me an absolutely specific set of 5 skills without variation from any other Revenant invoking Bob?

I realize the answer may be different for buttons 6 and 0 than it is for buttons 7, 8, & 9.

That is not set in stone yet and something we are deciding still.

As noted earlier in the thread if there isn’t a choice it appears the revenant will feature less customisation than other classes and may be quite inflexible.

There options really are the legends you bring which offer unique playstyles and skills, I can see your point though.

So its like a trade-off system if you wanna be a tanky be prepared to sacrifice your damage output versus if you go condition be prepared to lose your tankiness?

There will be quite a few legends to chose from. Maybe as many as there are ranger pets.

Well that’s a lot of skills that hopefully aren’t duplicates. Personally, I think the number is between 4-7 depending on what they decide to do. If they go with more utilities per Legend then the number of Legends will seemingly be closer to 4 but if they decide to go with more Legends the number may be closer to 7. IF and only IF they want to keep the amount of skills between classes similar if not the same.

The only one missing so far is bleeds. Now let’s think of some combos: stack lots of confusion (with mallyx skills), swap to jalis and taunt (if you interrupt and proc perplexity, which is probably coming to pvp)…gg.

Perplexity was already considered for PvP and we said resounding “NO!” and it didn’t get introduced.

Yes it’s downed state is on the low end of the spectrum. Why we even still have a spectrum at all with a pool of 3 fixed skills is beyond me however.

I guess you guys are talking in PvE terms. In PvP terms, this is definitely one of the most powerful downstates. Slow on Auto and teleporting people away? That’s way more than nifty.

We will have to wait for the reveal of other utilities and maybe a new support Legend (I assume 2 new ones based on trait lines). But, for now, it looks like they’re extremaly vulnerable to condibomb and kiting the Mallyx form.

So they might have problems with Spamgineers and Necros.

I doubt they lack the ability to keep you in melee. First they have the taunt chain in Jalis form that applies slow, then they have the Teleport chill on Axe #4, then they have 50% chance to chill on crit, then they have the Temporal Rift to pull people in.

Yea, I doubt you’ll be getting away from these guys quite easily.

dude, I’m so upset that they get awesome, well thought out, synergetic traits, but we still have a dilapidated state of synergy, with some traits in lines that MAKE NO FREAKIN SENSE, LET ALONE WORK. to top it off, we still have minions that have utterly terrible responsiveness and cast times that make the fast pace of combat more difficult to manage, when compared to other classes.

Talk about overhype. Well thought-out traits? Half of those traits are passive procs that everyone agrees are crap since you can’t plan ahead or be countered easily with them.

So does this mean hambow is going to just auto win forever now? Because with their ability to chain stuns and knockdowns there is no way anyone could have enough stabilities/stunbreakers to beat it.

huh? their first hit did NOT stun you, and you still allowed them to land the rest of their chain? fighting hambow isn’t so much about stability as it is about stun breakers and saving your dodge/blind/blocks for when they swap into hammer.

also you’re going to have the same amount of stun breaks and stability sources as you did before.

the issue will be coordinated CC+bursts – if a team pops like 6 CCs on someone there will be literally nothing that can be done to escape, whereas right now stability has no limit how many things it can negate during its duration.

and this will make the game more zergy because getting caught outnumbered will mean locked down and gg

that’s my reaction without thinking too much about it >.<

But that really depends on which character you’re playing. Only Wars and Guards truly spam stability so they would be affected the most. The rest of us get 100 to 0-ed already.
I think supporting your teammate as a Guardian will definitely be more difficult now though.

So we got more info on the Revee today and it seems they are one heck of a tough customer. 100% projectile Hammer auto-attack, almost perma dark field, Stability on dodge trait, Master of Torment stacking etc etc.

But even with all that, the most shocking thing to me is the changes to Stability. Stability now stacks in intensity rather than duration. This means that Stand your ground may now give 3 stacks of Stab for 5s instead of 8s of Stab. And every time you get CC’ed, a stack is removed.

I like the sound of thischange but they also didn’t say how conversion skills interact with the stacks. Will skills like Corrupt Boon remove all stacks or just one stack? Something to ask them at PAX or EGX I guess.

Indeed, a lot of people won’t admit it but, all the classes are seeing some play in some form. That’s very cool compared to what was happening before.

I can’t wait to spam two heals in a row with the Revenant or have 4 stun breaks, just cause.

Get your facts straight. Taunt isn’t a revenant-only thing, new shinies will be spread through all professions.

2. Embrace the dark sounds OP right, but it only copies your own conditions to enemies, so what if you make it a reflecting duel, (5 stacks of bleeding, poison, 2 torment, 5 confusion is on a revenant, uses embrace the dark, necro gets all conditions and reflects them or eats them, who would die first ?

Considering we don’t know all the skills that Mr Revie has, we’ll have to wait and see with that match-up.

I don’t like that the new shiny stuff is only on specializations, that could imply that existing professions will be a hell of a lot weaker then the new ones. I mean c’mon, a ranger possibly geting resistance (for instance), and what in the base ranger prof heh? Nothing to interesting condi removal wise. Wich will mean druid is must have prof. I really hope i’m wrong about this, but feels this way.

If you’re thinking solo then yea, you’ll probably need the new specs to generate these new boons but if you have a team, there should be a couple of people in the new Specs who can generate these boons and conditions for the team.

The old profs shouldn’t die due to the new specs. They will probably die for a few months though, where every player and their keyboard will be screaming nerf this or that.

Taunts have no place in the guild wars combat system. It is an overused, ill-conceived status that undermines the comprehensive design of combat. Such an effect is no greater than a telekenetic lockdown on an entity; this is not a good thing. This kind of effect results in an oversimplified and unexplainable phenomenon, specifically in this case a player losing total control over their various faculties. For anything less than total mind control, my character should not become a simpleton that has no cognitive ability.

You can stun break out of it. That and you must seriously hate playing against Fear spam Necros.

This is why the queues are being merged for Stronghold and Conquest. The base professions don’t look like they are getting access to these new conditions. The expansion is the only way to get the specializations that offer access to these. Stronghold will be playable by all and if you decide to forego the x-pac, you can expect to be a little under=powered for a month or two to “encourage” you to pick up the x-pac. Then, after a few months of spec. OP’ness, they will do a balance pass on the base professions to bring them more in line with the specs.

I think you’re really stretching the reasoning behind merged queues a bit too far mate.

New Guardian Bow Specialization

I wanted a bow but would be happy with anything that adds synergy.

The current skill set that we see here is absolutely mind-blowing to me. Switching stances? Colour me an Elementalist! I can now do what they do by switching into Support Stance, healing myself with Symbol of Energy and rolling back into the fight like a pro!

I’ll be playing Revie at EGX but man, I feel like I have to try everything!!!!

While it is related to latency to a certain extent, it is absolutely a bug, and a fault on the net code’s part. Upon being downed, the downed character’s position should be sent to all clients within render distance, but it isn’t.

I’m wondering if they ever intend to fix bugs like these. They’re game breaking, extremely easy to fix, and yet, they’ve have been around since day one.

No this is worse than last year. Nowadays it like every bloody fight I’m in. I try to pull someone to get a burst off and they don’t go the full distance, then they teleport all over the place and I miss my burst. Then when I eventually down them, I have to use magical mathematics to stomp them.

Nope, something definitely happened between December and February because it’s a lot worse now than it was before.

Also, Skritt Bombers get revealed when they attack so even with the perma stealth from 5 thieves, you’ll still know when a Skritt is right by your gate.

And I’m sure you can’t get supply or capture buffs while stealthed.
