So far, I’ve found Lich Form to be quite useful in PvP. Golem is also useful in PvP for chain stunning targets. Plague is used defensively to get rezzes, to get stomps, to stall, Plague is good.

Chilled to the bone, also good. Requires good timing and awareness to land. You can also use it on a downed body so the hit is guaranteed or on Ranger pets.

Yeah, exactly two ways, how amazing. And they removed, like, six.
But everything is fine, eh.

Toss Shield 5, Personal Battering Ram’s Tool belt skill, Supply Crate, AED’s Toolbelt skill, Net Turret.

I believe that’s 5 ways to apply dazes and 4 ways to apply stuns.

Some of the points you mention, I think, are invalid. Elixirs to be exact. Have been good and will always be good. Giving them more functionally outside of what they already do would be silly.

And whilst I think it was silly for them to remove the gyro daze when there’s so much to fix about the engie, I personally don’t regard it as much of a nerf. We can already apply more dazes than a naked person walking down the street.

If you cant word the reasoning better than this what makes you sure of this change?

Basically, not all gyros should be able to interrupt. If you wish to interrupt, you should use the things that are built to do that. They don’t want just any gyro to fill that role.

Please don’t take this as me defending them. I’m just explaining things in case you truly don’t understand.

That’s not what I was asking for nor what I care about. My original question was how is mesmer supposed to survive upcoming living story episodes and manage the achievements for those episodes. You take that trash build that you linked and go redo that Egg Chamber room featuring an infinite minion spawn kill box room and clone killing aoe. There are two achievements that you have to get which states that you cannot have the shield go below 50% and you cannot die in the chamber once. Dying and letting the shield drop removes the chance at the achievements and you have to redo the entire episode again. Better yet, go ahead and take that crappy build and attempt Glint’s Lair too, which has mechanics so infuriating such as bosses don’t take any damage from phantasms. Record and post both videos here.

Same goes for you Obtena, you haven’t given me anything, yet you still blatantly lie on other class forums on how mesmer needs to be toned down. Shame.

Oh please, stop whining and get a group if you want to do those achievements.

I don’t know why anyone would downvote a discussion about improving any weak ability for any class but my goodness, the GW2 reddit boggles my mind.

I think the reason is that there is such a discussion at least once a week on the same subject. While most people just see the last 24 hours discussion on reddit so that you cannot bump a discussion, I think many people just downvote because they have the impression that it is again the same thread…
This kind of long term feedback threads are much more suited for the forum than reddit. I know people think the devs are more on reddit than the forum but it is not true.

There’s a discussion at least once a week on which subject? because I checked and no one has talked about Medkits in any substantial way, in the past year! The only thing I could find was “Why does medkit increase revive speed?” but yea, getting off topic now. I’m just going to assume that reddit is a wildfire that has a mind for only a few things.

I was sceptical at first, but after I watched your video I felt an itch I wanted to satisfy.
So I took your build and went into WvW, where I mostly solo roam.

And it’s fun.

Not only that, thanks to the burst application of poison I can solo cap camps easier than I used to with the generic Scepter build (even though Dhuumfire Reaper + Epidemic is still king of that). I’m still working out some kinks for a more personalized build and I still have to try the build in zergs even though I don’t think it can beat the Epidemic build.

Awesome! You could try slapping epidemic on your bar, replacing the bone minions or the stun break maybe?

Oh please … Marauder and Commander gear to cripple your already medium damage even more? And ofc the glorious GS for it’s ultra cleave damage you can swap back to all the time without any heavy drawbacks wich is clearly superior to a stacking pull or the shield in general! YAY! I don’t even want to get started with the trait picks …

I didn’t want to sound rude but … how do ppl even come up with stuff like that?! o.ô Unless you are new, then I’m deeply sorry for my language.

I agree on suggesting Bloodlust wich is a (who knows why) barely used sigil that increases your damage so much. You should even use it in raids if you can stack it in any preevent.


If you want to cleave and deal with trash effective in solo, you have to focus fully on damage and gain “tankyness” with your evades, dodges and blocks. Then just use one or two mantras, depending on what enemies you’ll face together with WoC and you’re fine. The food may be a bit expensive but it’s amazing since the might on crit without internal cd stacks up so fast.

For example for the new maps, the destroyers barely got defiance bars, so you can freely interrupt them for big aoe damage: Click Me!

In the HoT maps I’d rather pick this: Click Me!

Meh, I care about survivability just as much as damage so, to each his own.

Going with what Dirame said on suggestions rather than buffing mediocre skills, I’d like to see Med Kit’s 2-5 done in more interesting ways to mix things up while keeping some of the current aspects that (I think) are unique.

2) Healing Beacon: Fire a beacon into a foe that heals nearby allies for two pulses, then detonates, granting Regeneration (4s) and removes a damaging condition.
(600 range,180 radius)

3) Stimulant Field: Dispense a water field (3s) that heals allies, grants Fury (6s), and removes a debilitating condition (weakness, blind, vulnerability) on impact.
(600 range, 240 radius)

4) Acceleration Wave: Send out a cone of energy that heals allies, grants Swiftness (8s), and removes a movement-impending condition (cripple, chill, immobilize). (600 range)

5) Antidote Spray: Release a mist around yourself that heals you and nearby allies, grants Resistance (2s), and removes a controlling condition (taunt, fear, slow).
(300 radius, instant cast)

I like the creativity of these ideas but I personally would combine 3 and 4 into 5. Antidote Spray: Release a mist around yourself that heals you and nearby allies whilst converting any conditions you gain into boons. 5s duration, pulses every second.

The reason is, the current medkit already suffers from a similar problem of having to press 3 buttons to do the thing that 1 button would do (Elixir C can cleanse all conditions on you). So if Medkit wants to compete, it has to do a similar thing but scaled down and with additional utility.

I think I’m going to put this post on reddit so that there’s more attention drawn to it.

The spite traitline is better suited for retal then curses is. So it is ok that our only retal trait is there. Though i wouldnt mind if we good some retal in deathmagic (like we used to have).

Funny enough, Spite already has a trait for Retal. It’s just that it competes with Signet of Suffering and Close to Death which are waaaaay better traits than Spiteful Spirit.

What the hell even is this class?

Is this really the state of Necromancers, right now? Is this class absolute trash without a team dedicated solely to babysitting you?

Every match I get into, I deal virtually no damage, I’m bursted to death in one rotation(Shroud be kitten ed), and every attempt I make to attack is clogged with Blocks and Invulnerabilities. What few times I do get a Condition to apply, it’s just instantly cleansed en masse, anyway.

Everyone I’ve talked to has said the same three things.
1) Just reroll something actually useful.
2) Insert generic git gud copy pasta here.
3) Go to this website and look at the fifteen builds that all vary wildly and that’ll learn you gudder.

Anytime I play my Guardian, I just bulldoze people. I’m obscenely difficult to kill, I have the burst to railroad people in seconds, while still supporting the team near-constantly. But on my Necromancer, I just melt like butter. On the off chance I find someone AFKing long enough to apply Bleeds, it isn’t even half the damage they throw at me. I can’t escape anyone, that’s never an option. Between the thousand different teleports, leaps, pulls, and infinite speed increase, nobody has any trouble sticking to me like glue.

I’ve tried using Well of Darkness, but it barely keeps me going for more than a few seconds more. But it doesn’t fix the issue that they’ll just kill me after. Tried Spectral Armour but, again, it takes a year to actually trickle in bleed damage so they just kill me after, if not just outright burst through it anyway.

Shroud has proven to be a disgraceful tool. Even if I survive long enough to build it, it’s popped in a third of a second and I follow immediately after.

Is this really the class? A one-trick boon-corrupter with zero damage, the durability of tissue paper and an unavoidable reliance on having people committed to playing babysitter?

I’m one of the elitist noobs that screams “git gudder” because, whilst I do feel your pain, I also know there’s a solution to your problem.

Here’s the lo-down; everyone and their mother are going to focus you when they see you because ESL and Pro League have conditioned them into “focus the necro” (for a while before this, it was “Focus the guardian/Dragonhunter”). So now that you are armed with this knowledge you can either use it to your advantage or play in such a way that allows you to make yourself scarce.

STEP 1: Never be the first to enter the team fight. Always be the guy who +1s.
When going to the first team fight in the mid, always hang back. Take the back roads, stay out of sight, wait till everyone is otherwise engaged before you show your face.

STEP 2: Never get into a 1v1 you know you can’t win, unless it’s necessary for you to hold the point.

STEP 3: Always be the last to engage and the first to disengage a team fight. When one person goes down and you know you can’t win the fight, just start legging it out of there. Don’t overstay your welcome UNLESS you need to hold the point in order to win.

Alright, it’s one thing to call for a Med-Kit buff but it’s even better to give suggestions as to what you’d like to see. So here are my ideas for replacement skills on the Med-kit;

STEP 1: Make all Med-kit skills, cooldown abilities. No auto attack, no spammable attack, just useful abilities that make sense for someone who carries a med-pack and is an engineer in the crazy world that is Tyria.

SKILL 1: Explosive Elixir Dart
Elixir. Cast Time: half a second. Recharge: 20s
Fire an explosive dart at the target location that heals allies when it explodes. If they are downed, heal them for 5% health (increased by 2% per 70 healing power). Water Field: lasts for 2s.

SKILL 2: Rescue Acceleration Device:
Cast Time: Half a second. Recharge 30s
Leap to target location (600 range) and gain 5s of super speed. If an ally is downed near you, also gain 10s of protection, regeneration and 15% increased revive speed. Leap Finisher.

SKILL 3: Covert Rescue Apparatus:
Cast Time: Instant. Recharge: 35s
Apply 2s stealth to you and 3 other nearby allies.

SKILL 4: Cleansing Blast
Cast time: Half a second. Recharge: 35s
Throw a grenade at a target location that removes 3 conditions from you and allies within a 600 radius. Blast Finisher.

SKILL 5: First Aid Packs
Cast Time: 3 quarters of a second. Recharge: 40s
Throw 3 medpacks at the target location.

SKILL 5: Quarantine Perimeter
Cast Time: 3 quarters of a second. Recharge: 40s
Create an area at the target location that enemies cannot enter. Unblockable

WHY THESE SKILLS?
If we ask ourselves, when it comes to healing classes, what are their strongest qualities, you’ll see that most of these classes have several things in common;
1- Their ability to disengage (Eles and Rangers have incredible abilities when it comes to running away)
2- Their ability to pull off difficult rezzes (Teleport Rezzes on Rangers, Invuln Rezzes on Eles)
3- Their ability to save someone even when they are getting stomped already. (Stealth Rez Druids, Engies, Mesmers etc)
4- They themselves have incredible sustain and the ability to pull off combos by themselves.
5- Area Denial. Being able to deny access to an area can guarantee resurrects. Or just downright save people from death in the first place.

That’s what this skill set aims to copy without getting too crazy with the heals and the rezzes. That said though, with Explosive Invigoration and a rez gyro on a downed body, that could be a rez that doesn’t need anyone to get close to the downed body which would make for a very interesting meta.

THINK OF THE COMBO POSSIBILITIES!
The Engie is a utilitarian profession. Without the ability to use a particular tool multifaceted-ly, it loses a lot of the things that define the class. This rule obviously doesn’t have to be obeyed all the time but it really makes the engie shine when it is obeyed.
The above skills will not only be used for landing rezzes but also for the utility the skills will have outside of healing and rezzing people.

There had been community organized weekly tournaments for a long time.

The problem is not that we don’t have people facilitate team competition. It is that we are totally in lack of teams.

I don’t think there should be any problem organizing such events as a community as long as there is enough interest

The only teams that go for community organised competitions are people who want to go pro. The rest of the community, who DON’T want to go pro, also need an outlet to play with their friends. It’s not just about competition. A Ranked Team queue separate from Solo Q with it’s own MMR is required. These people played ranked and will play ranked team queue because they feel that the word “ranked” represents more competition even if they are not going to go to Pro League. They just want to “feel” like they are competing. If they went to unranked, they wouldn’t feel that.

Providing for those people isn’t hard and won’t detract from anything else that the community offers.

If they want for fun they still have unranked, i dont think they will do the same that they will do for ranked. I guess having another queue for only 5 man matches in ranked is better, but not letting them progress in the same leaderboard as a solo player is key, its really unfair. Example, imagine i am super good, and i have another friend who is really good too, but then we have a third guy who is really bad and is a clicker at that. We queue all 3 all the time and we will matches because me and the other guy are really good, so we are carrying our other friend. In the end do you think that guy that got carried by us deserves to be in the top 100 players?
So the best to do would be have separate queues for teams and different leaderboards for teams too.

You are pointing out something I already agree with. I am simply asking for a SEPARATE QUEUE FOR TEAMS who want to play ranked. Neglecting Ranked Team Queues (THAT ARE SEPARATE FROM SOLO QUEUERS) because “pro players don’t play ranked as a team” is so mind-numbingly short-sighted, not even the appropriate concave lens would save you.

How do you deal with large groups of enemies as a mesmer? Simple! Play condi. Condi hits everything in the area, you apply 2 conditions that the enemy will always take full damage from and you’re not dependent on a phantasm to do damage.

And by the time your condis have killed the enemies, all other classes with a power build have already killed the next two packs.

He asked for a way to deal with mobs like pocket raptors with higher health and armour. I gave an answer that is perfectly viable but you know, eat me alive why don’t you. I’m not the one who has problems in PvE.

Reason No. 3:
Having the option to queue as a 5 man team DOES NOTHING to depreciate the experience of GW2 PvP for the people in the premade . In fact it enhances the experience for the people in the premade. I mean do I really need to go over this? You guys know this right? I don’t know what’s going on in the back end but it really boggles the mind as to why you may have chosen not to even think about Team Queues at all.

Keep in mind I’m basing all my presumptuousness on the phrasing used in the poll question. I seriously can’t even click yes or no on that poll until I know what we’re giving up to get a solo/duo queue.

I fixed that for you. This is the issue; a high percentage of players don’t wish to dedicate the time/effort/politicking that goes into getting on and being part of a team.

Teams have exploited solos enough that it is has boiled over.

What the Poll question may allude to

Basically, it seems like the poll is saying that if we all tick yes in the poll, full teams won’t be allowed to play ranked queue and no separate queue would be made for them.

Unless there’s a hidden gun somewhere in Grouch’s pants, I don’t think this would be a good idea. Why is it a bad idea?

Reason No. 1:
ESL 5v5s are pretty much dead because no teams want to play without money on the line. Which also means smaller teams don’t even want to try out for ESL 5v5s (don’t ask me about the logic, it’s just the way it is). So basically, Ranked queue is the only place where newer teams are going to get ANY practice so not giving them their own queue and their own league is like stripping away the spine of your baby, how is it going to grow?

Reason No. 2:
Pro teams aren’t going to spar with newer teams. What are they going to gain? Another Vermillion? Pssh, please, that’s the last thing the top teams want, another team to challenge their top spot.

Reason No. 3:
Having the option to queue as a 5 man team (in their own queue separate from solos) DOES NOTHING to depreciate the experience of GW2 PvP. In fact it enhances the experience. I mean do I really need to go over this? You guys know this right? I don’t know what’s going on in the back end but it really boggles the mind as to why you may have chosen not to even think about Team Queues at all.

Keep in mind I’m basing all my presumptuousness on the phrasing used in the poll question. I seriously can’t even click yes or no on that poll until I know what we’re giving up to get a solo/duo queue.

THE GOOD THINGS:

- The map design is the opposite of Legacy, you can hardly see where the enemy team is going which makes stealth pushes a really powerful tool, it makes call-outs for who is where a really important tool and it just is a tactically interesting map.

THE BAD:
- The only buff that seems useful is the Grenth Damage buff, due to reasons like; a stomp rallying an entire team whilst one rez (Dwayna buff) won’t always lead to that happening. IF the Dwayna buff gave the wielder a skill that allows them to resurrect any downed allows in the area, that would prove useful and on par with the strenght of the Grenth buff.

- The look of the map is jarring at first. The colour doesn’t really sit well with the eyes. Of course you get used to it after a few matches but, it could be better. I suggest replacing the walls with the walls in the Courtyard map. Those were more interesting to look at.

- Finally, I don’t think the two buffs are exciting at all. They just don’t offer the comeback potentials the other buffs on the other maps do and as said earlier, the buffs are uneven in quality. I would suggest replacing it with a giant tiger that is released at a certain interval, this tiger would mainly go after the winning team but whoever manages to kill it would instantly get all 3 points and a buff to +100 to all stats. I think this would give the map some excitement for both casting and participation.

Hey guys,

So I was thinking; as a PvP player who has multiple level 80s, Tomes are pretty much useless to me and I’m just stacking them up to infinity. So instead of letting them waste away, why not let us use them to buy hero points!

We can already get PvE gear in PvP (ascended rings and necklaces, ascended gear from chests etc) so why not let us buy hero points with all the Tomes of Knowledge we’ve been stashing up?

Not everyone belongs in legendary – it should be hard to get into.

As for the second question – no.

Hard or Grindy? I want a hard game that I can play 10 to 15 hours a week and still compete.

I suppose it depends on how high you want to go. Want to be top 100? You’re probably going to need to put more effort in.

The problem is that hitting a relevant amount of melee attacks is hard,when you have base movement speed or 25% ims while everyone else has perma swiftness. Yes, even with 2 ports and a leap.
As a bruiser it is worse than druid, scrapper, rev.
Asa roamer it is worse than rev, thief, mes.
As a team fight support its worse than ele.
As an offensive team fighter it is worse than reaper.
At rezzing it is worse than scrapper, druid.
At filling multiple roles, it is worse than rev, druid.

It can have those disadvantages but I can bet that once it’s being used successfully in competitive play, there will be 5000 more people who swear by the effectiveness of the Dragonhunter.

Just look at the change on the Dragonhunter rhetoric from before the expansion to release and then from release to now. People are to quick to conclude that something is weak because it’s not being used by top teams.

No attack should depend on negation

There should not be skills that depend on blocking/evading/invulerability to negate because Reapers were designed to tank hits with shroud as its defensive tool and shroud does not negate attacks.
Creating skills that require the opponent to have to negate it is unfair to Reapers.

For example, adrenal health from berserker’s primal burst. You can’t tank this otherwise the berserker heals and heals. This is extremely unfair to reapers who basically depend on shroud as its main defensive mechanism to tank and take the hit.

I complained a lot about how OP berserker’s primal burst AH healing are as a Reaper. But when I switched to dragonhunter, this problem was manageable and surmountable. I had the tools to fight a berserker. Blocks.

As a reaper, this problem is not manageable and not surmountable. Reaper is the only class that fails completely at damage negation. We were designed to tank and giving enemy skills that require negation and not tanking is extremely unfair to reapers because we got no negation to counter those skills.

So let me get this straight if I may; you are saying that Necro/Reaper requires more skill to play and you find it harder than Dragonhunter so therefore it should be made easier for you?

No team-based ranked mode seems like a bizarre choice.

I think having both a solo/duo and 5man team queue options, which are eligible for ranking (possibly on separate tracks) could be interesting. Whether that is viable in terms of playerbase though I am not sure.

I think, if they are going to have solo/duo queues, that immediately suggests they will have seperate queues for 5-man teams. If they decide not to have different queues for 5-man teams, then that means they have forgotten that they have a competitive scene to foster.

I would especially love feedback from esl players who still post around here.

What i’ve gathered is that:

1. it doesn’t have enough mobility

2. as a function of #1, it’s defensive cooldowns can be exhausted quickly without an option to disengage effectively, such as stealth or superspeed.

3. it could possibly be best at bunking but the meta isn’t set for bunking points right now, leaving it no other role to fill that isn’t already filled by something better (far point: mes, rezzer: engi, rng, healer: ele, dps: rev, necro, +1 roamer: rev, point bruiser: rng)

And depending on why you think dh isn’t competitive at higher skill levels of pvp, what would you change to make it more competitive?

I know people like to over-analyze why a class isn’t in the meta but let me point out to you that the Necro has no mobility, it has no disengage, dies quite often and yet is taken in most teams now because it can do 1-thing really well…. strip boons and apply condis.

So let’s look at what the Guardian does really well and let’s see if we can guess why it’s not taken by the competitive teams.

- Guardian/DH has good in-combat mobility;
A leap you practically always have (Wings of Resolve), 2 teleports if you use sword and Judges.

- Guardian/DH can really put the hurt on a point
Hammer, Greatsword, traps, symbols. Guardians are a powerhouse for using your ignorance against you or setting you up to be dead in a few seconds.

- Guardian/DH can consume A LOT of conditions for their team
Save Yourselves + Wings of Resolve. What’s that you say? Necro will corrupt my Save Yourselves? Well, I still got condi removal on block sooo….. say that one more time while I do a little dance.

- Guardians/DH can be Bruisers
Hammer, Sword-Focus, Scepter-Shield, Wings of Resolve, Trap heal, Merciful Intervention, Test of Faith, Procession of Blades etc etc. They’ve got so many ways to heal, so many ways to deal damage you never intended to take, so many ways to survive burst that you can say the DH can be a Bruiser.

So… with all these things in one class…. why isn’t he used in high level matches? It’s simply because, no one has found a good use for it yet and also because, no team has outright trashed anyone whilst using a DH. When they do, you will see teams using it.

How do we keep PvP community alive?

STEP 1: Keep the community alive by continuously having different in-game events.

FIRST IDEA – In-game ranked team-only tournament. This should happen during Pro League’s off-season and Ranked’s off-season. This should encourage the formation of teams or generally encourage more teams to participate.

SECOND IDEA – Restructure divisions to all have leaderboards based on MMR. This won’t necessarily grow the community but it will keep it competitive. It will keep people playing not necessarily to get to Legend but to be the best in their current Division whilst also trying to get to Legend.

THIRD IDEA: Give us Automated Tournaments that are better than Guild Challenger League:
I don’t think the Guild challenger League is doing much to invigorate participation in GW2 pvp. And to fix that, I’m suggesting anet create an automated tournament outside of pro league, that has smaller rewards than Pro Leage but more significant than it currently is. How do you achieve this ‘more significance’ thing? Well, remember that authorized shoutcaster program that you were running before? Yea, do that again but this time, notify casters about Automated Tournament matchups based on the High MMR teams playing against each other.
The casters who are available will cast these games on twitch, building themselves a fanbase, whilst also promoting GW2 pvp, whilst also giving good players some exposure, making those players confident enough to play in things like Pro League… does that sound like a win-win to you? ‘Cos it sounds like a win-win to me.
Also make the first place rewards $500 and a legendary weapon of your choice that isn’t account bound (so it can be sold – this may not seem important but it is!! Think about it!), Second place can be $250, gems or a combination of those two things and third place could be just gems and gold. Just make the rewards miniature versions of the pro league so if these players never compete in pro league, they can at least feel like they are getting something for their time.

Dolyak Rune could be nerfed to stop working with Celestial force, Druid healing is fine though because THAT’S WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO! but they should nerf the stealth trait by giving it a longer cooldown. What good druids usually do now is they intentionally don’t use all their Celestial force so they can go into it again, moments later, only to come out of it and stealth again.

How do you deal with large groups of enemies as a mesmer? Simple! Play condi. Condi hits everything in the area, you apply 2 conditions that the enemy will always take full damage from and you’re not dependent on a phantasm to do damage.

And by the time your condis have killed the enemies, all other classes with a power build have already killed the next two packs.

He asked for a way to deal with mobs like pocket raptors with higher health and armour. I gave an answer that is perfectly viable but you know, eat me alive why don’t you. I’m not the one who has problems in PvE.

The Necromancer and why it sucks

1. They need to hit things to succeed.

In many situations; you can have the least available condition cleanse in a fight. It’s true.
Unlike every other class in the game, you rely on hitting enemies to cleanse your conditions. If enemies step out of range of your skill, block your skill, evade your skill, or are currently invulnerable to your attack or conditions or you are blinded or some freaky targeting glitches your cast, or your attack becomes hindered, or several other things; you will not cleanse any conditions. This is why Consume Conditions has become such a staple on necros and also why Staff 4 has been one of two reasons the weapon is ever used (the other being Staff5).

Wait, are you complaining that this class requires skill?

It’s not like people haven’t done this before it’s just…. it never makes sense when they do it. So… don’t do it.

2. Necros are designed to be hit.

We are second to the least stability in the game. We are also the class that is supposed to be hit. We are essentially penalized for a playstyle fundamental to the profession. Get rekt necros.

Blocks, Invuln, Evades etc are always going to be better than pure health/armor. Throw in lack of mobility and you have a class that can’t even move half the time. while being pummeled to death. Why? Cuz lifeforce and shroud. I’ll get to that later.

I agree with this one. We do need more skills that deal with turning hits we take into power. (* Cough cough * Spoil Victor * Cough Cough * Insidious Parasite * Cough *)

3. Blocks > Blinds

You need to hit enemies with blinds for them to work. Blocks work automatically.
Blinds are never successive. They always happen in 1 second intervals at the most. Bocks can be successive; preventing X number of attacks for X duration. Blinds can never do this the way they are now. GG blinds.
If anyone says “yeah we have blocks but you guys have blinds”; promptly facepalm and link this thread to them.

Blocks counter blinds though! #mindblow

4. It’s the SLOW class

Everything about this is bad. Not a slow build. Not a slow spec. The entire profession is slow. This deserves a slow clap

Slow animations / telegraphed abilities along side nearly zero stability is just Anet telling everyone to focus and demolish the necromancer first. They are the easiest ones to kill and will probably not even get a single skill off if focused hard enough.

But what about marks? Fast cast, hard to dodge, hard to see coming.

5. Not an attrition class.

Whatever anyone has ever said about the necromancer, it is not an attrition class. It is held back by devs constantly trying to fit them into this design while simultaneously making other classes/builds more effective in long-lasting fights. I’ve personally played guardian enough to know that this is a fact. Every other class has the ability to last in long fights; and last longer than any necromancer can. This is a fact.

All other classes have manageable ways to allow their other skills to come off cooldown in time for another volley of unavoidable damage.

It is an attrition profession to me. I can definitely say I’ve witnessed it be that.

6. Lifeforce / Shroud is the worst and laziest designed class mechanic.

- Can be moa’d to nothingness. No other class mechanic in the entire game is so vulnerable to moa.

Druid’s Celestial Avatar is affected by Moa, and all transforms in general suffer from being shutdown by Moa. So to say “no other class mechanic” is wrong.

- Life force depletion rate. As stated, rangers heal life just as much if not more than necros gain lifeforce. Thing is; rangers health does not constantly deplete like it does for necromancers shroud. So even after building up all that lifeforce, its just going to be taken away from you passively.

Comparing Life force generation to ranger’s health? That doesn’t make any sense. Why not compare Life force to pet control? Or our health regen to their health regen? I don’t think you’re making a good point here by comparing Life force to Ranger health regen. Since GW1 they’ve always been the regen heavy profession. Necros on the other hand should be the LIFESTEAL profession, using the opponents aggressiveness against them. And I agree with you that this isn’t there right now, it’s just that you don’t point it out very convincingly.

Sustain Builds Need Changing

To ask that every class should be able to beat other classes in the game, is to not understand that they already can. The problem is, the build that beats one, is not necessarily good for fighting another, and players as a general rule, go for builds that can beat a wide variety of other builds rather than just one or two. That is why certain builds are chosen over others.

So you ask for sustain to be nerfed but you should acknowledge that there are classes that counter sustain already. Like Necro and Mesmer, even Condi thief. So, does sustain need tweaking or do we just need to learn to play the builds that counter it?
