Warriors F1 ability simply goes on a 3-4 second when misses or evaded. Make my mesmer skills like this, why should he get such a broken ability and I can’t? My shatter skills get dodged or evaded all the time, yet goes on COMPLETE 15 second cool down (non traited wrack).

It amazes me that mechanics do not matter on certain classes.

I actually really like some of the changes that happened to traits, damage modifiers, etc. The QoL changes > the actual changes.

let me preface this with this, if i say good, if you have at least 1-2 viable builds, welcome to every other class in Gw2

I looked over the changes, and imo? Engineers were good, but I think got the most powerful buffs this time around. Nobody every really complains about them, because they were the least played class.

Warriors will continue to be OP, but they will be nerfed soon, there is no doubt about that.

Eles? What can I say to you guys? You got nothing.

Mesmer…my main! We didn’t get nerfs, and the mantras still suck, but who cares right?

Ranger don’t really play ranger, but they are still in a good place.

Guardian, this fury buff is really going to make hybrid dps/tank more viable, and it already kind of was before. I would be happy if I was a guard to be honest, it is probably the strongest class in the game, and has been on every major team since the game started.

Necro.. you are still the king of conditions and nothing has changed, you are still godly

Thief , you got hit bro. The stun duration makes s/p gone. S/D was honestly a very, very good build. The 1 boon steal is still good, and the build is still tier 1.

I am not good in anyway. I am rank 34 and mostly play hotjoin and YOLOq. I am sad about this patch because I kept saying…wait till the 15th, and then nothing really happened.

I think people got their hopes up for a 4 month patch that was really just a QoL patch.

So, there will be apologists out there that rip this thread apart saying that I’m attacking the devs, and I am not doing that at all. There is a certain theme that is being thrown around on the forums and I want to have some clarification, because I think it’s misleading.

The statement that, “we knew where warriors were headed this whole time and it took you guys a while to catch up” is being echoed in many threads currently; however, the current fix to bring them back in line is to fix sigil of paralyzation, which was a bug.

So, if you made changes to warrior, and they turned out to be the way that you thought, then either:

a- you knew paralyzation was a bug and just waited for us to “catch” it
or
b- the bug was never known and you never knew that warriors would turn out the way they did.

Another topic of discussion:

If you are waiting to balance the game, because a bug that has been in the game, since probably the beginning, was finally fixed and you are waiting to see how it all panned out….then, why wasn’t that bug fixed IMMEDIATELY since it wasn’t intended and then the meta would naturally shift. If you had done the latter, then this patch could have been used to address some of the actual BALANCE concerns, and not bug fixes. Instead were addressing a bug to then evaluate what balance updates are required.

I am not currently someone that is blasting this patch on the forums, because I think it was a step in the right direction, but this whole ,“we knew warriors were headed where they were, we just sat back and waited for you to catch up” i believe is a bit misleading. Once again, because that would mean you knew the bug was in play and did nothing about it.

I guess, to keep this constructive: why can’t we fix bugs immediately? Why do you we have to wait for large updates for major bugs THAT ARE ADMITTEDLY SHIFTING THE META, to be fixed?

I know the approach is slow and steady, and maybe this patch will bring the change we need, but I doubt it. Even during the live stream Roy stated a few times, “we know it’s probably not enough but we want to wait and see”. Which is understandable if the game was updated at even a remotely reasonable pace. But it’s not and so I leave you with this:

If the patch doesn’t fix the meta, doesn’t make the game more enjoyable, how long do we wait for the next patch to address it’s shortcomings?

Dont go out of your way to be so polite. You paid for this game and have the right to complain. They take things slow because they have like 2 people working on pvp on a commodore 64. They don’t play there own game much at all either. They over-buffed warriors and they know it. They have the data that shows them how many fotm bads there are rolling around on Warriors at the moment and its legion. It should be embarrassing to them the fotm that constantly rolls in this game its always something from eles and mesmers early in the game’s life to necro and spirit rangers and now we have warriors. It should be a mark of shame for them that the class distribution in spvp is so out of whack. Notice how they are posting all this stuff now to try to quash the furor over this awful patch. In a couple of days you won’t here from them more then very rarely for a couple months.

last time I made a post about having the right to complain after buying the game, it was infracted…be careful

It appears that scepter #2 and #3 just got their cooldowns reduced, and this build just got that much stronger

Scepter – cooldowns reduced on both #2 and #3 (confusing images –12s recharge, Illusionary counter – 10s recharge, these are all base values without trait reductions). This will improve Confusion and Torment uptime with a bit more defense as you are blocking more often.

Eh, no. The point is the add buttons, not replace our shatter buttons.

Also I tried to suggest things that are easy to implement.
E.g. Moving Wardens is basically blink for Wardens.
Ricochet shots is basically Ele staff air auto attack.

Eg for 4. I’ll probably never play Necro, have 4 games on Necro since Launch, as OP as they get, I can’t get into it past the Axe which isn’t that great in itself and literally the moment I weapon swap I want to delete the profession out of boredom. I have no idea how anyone plays Necro without preffering to alt+f4 and watch the paint dry within 15 seconds of touching the profession but to each their own.

I play a power Necro, I use an Axe and kill lot’s and lot’s of players. Lots. It’s fun. Especially fun when you kill a Hammer/Mace+Shield or Hammer/Longbow warrior who thinks they can just roll their face across the keyboard to kill you. I out play them, kite CC, interrupt, stuff that takes thought and timing.

Do people say I’m playing a bad build because I’m not using conditions…yep. Do I regularly finish top of the scoreboard…Yep. Sure I can play one of the cookie cutter FOTM builds, but they are boring and don’t require skill. Until aNet change things, I’ll keep playing “bad” builds.

It doesn’t matter what build you use in hotjoin though…it doesn’t count lol.

It’s already possible for many classes (especially warrior by the way bud) to have great control over incoming conditions which is why condition builds need to be tankier to sustain through all the cleanse.

‘Zerker wars can rip through ~18k health + protection in under 3 seconds (This is the build I’ve experienced). Not sure how anyone thinks conditions can do better “burst” than that…

Did you just try to compare 900-1200 range condi spam to melee range burst that requires CC to land?

Even then, the damage difference isn’t that much once the setup time is counted in. A necro can easily apply burning, poison, 15 stacks of bleed, 3 stacks of torment and terror to you in the space of 5 seconds. That’s close to 4k DPS from a build that can face tank 40k+ damage before he even needs to dodge or heal. It might not be S/D ele burst, but it will melt most builds in a few seconds, most of which they will spend CC’d.

Considering it ignores armor, is stupidly easy to land and can be done from a safe range, you have to be joking. You expect everyone to bring 3 stun breakers and be able to spam cleanse conditions (many of which will be cover spam like weakness, chill, cripple) while the condi spammers just keeps reapplying them faster than they come off. I’ve used ether renewal in a fight against a SB ranger, and his 1 spam just kept covering up all the other conditions faster than ether renewal could remove the bleed.

Don’t even get me started on the counters to power damage like weakness and protection that do nothing to conditions.

I feel like things have come full circle.

The unskilled players fought condition builds > OP.

They moved to condition builds and encountered CC/burst > OP!

They moved to CC/burst and now the old builds are OP!!

Not really, condi/tank is the best spec right now. You can simply dodge a warriors only thing that actually makes him sem-lethal, his stun. I literally only have to dodge this 1 very noticeable attack, and the warrior will pretty much die.

I mained mesmer until realizing this after playing about 8 hours in hotjoin/soloq that bursty builds can be good, but in the end you are just gimping yourself.

I spoke to TWO of the best mesmers in the world, and they both rolled thief and pretty much stopped playing mesmer…I was hoping to hear cool advice from them and stuff, but was let down when even they abandoned their own class.

We will see what happens with tomorrows patch, but I think I have to sadly give up mesmer.

Rally! - dodgeball rules

I’ve felt for a long time that team fights in sPvP have been far too volatile. Things happen too quickly and momentum shifts are extremely common.

I think that one of the biggest culprits in this has always been the rally mechanic. More specifically that who ever has damaged an opponent that is finished, is rallied. This causes team fights that might be evenly matched suddenly swing in favor of one team because one of the teams happened to finish someone first.

My proposal is this:

1 finished enemy = 1 friendly rally

- The priority for who is rallied could be decided as whoever has been in downed state longest is rallied first.

- Since the downed player no longer needs to damage the opponent to be rallied, there needs to be a range in order to be rallied(earshot)


This will make team fights much less volatile, but will leave small fights (1v1, 2v2) relatively unchanged. It also makes team fights a little less confusing, because opposing players will no longer rally seemingly out of nowhere because someone across the map was finished.

The way it works right now its as if you knock half the enemy team out but they catch one of your balls, they just got their whole team back. Which would be a really stupid game of dodgeball.

I never realized how broken this mechanic was until now…wow.

Karla it works as a stun break yes but it also has a symbol on the mesmer indicating that they can use it, fearing a mesmer while the Illusionary Leap is up is like fearing someone with stability up and blaming them. The skill is bugged and needs fixed thats what this thread is about. Calling Mesmer sword #3 OP when there are thieves running around with sword #2 is laughable.

Im sorry but you people who keep goin on about muh win and suggesting sun tzu and whatnot are taking this game too seriously. This is a bloody video game not world war 2. If you get a genuine sense of accomplishment from winning a pvp game you may want to step back and examine your priorities in life.

to further illustrate my point, the random and chaotic nature of how pvp battles take place could be likened to taking all the pieces of a chess game in your hands and dropping them onto the board all at once and wherever they land is how the game starts off. It will always result in random disadvantaged and outnumbered situations and relegates the actual skill of the players to very small significance. It is having 3 nodes that makes this happen. if there were 2 this would be far less of a problem i think.

furthermore because of the large disproportion between the viability of classes and builds plus the tendency of players to want advantages beyond their skills means that 1 side can have a handful of queens while the other side has a handful of pawns.

Also…my friend who is a federal air marshall, and our combative instructors in the Army always say nothing we teach you here is really that good. The person who wins the fight is the first person with backup…straight up. You never want to finish a fight, always wait for backup, and never stay in the fight when you can remove yourself.

I don’t know what the OP is smoking, but this isn’t some victorian duel where you challenge someone and drink tea too.

ive recently come to see that 95% of battles in conquest mode involves trashy lowlife styles of engagement.

there will rarely ever be a “fair fight” because of the way this game mode is set up. 1 side will always be outnumbered as random people pop up unnoticed out of nowhere (thanks to the maps having so many obstructions) and proceed to jump their opponents like a buncha gangsters.

almost all fights results in someone sneaking up behind their back in the middle of a fight and blasting them away. thats the most successful tactic you can utilize yet in real life thats the dirtiest way to fight imaginable.

it doesnt matter how much skill you have, you will almost never win a 1v2 meaning numbers are everything. the major determining factor of winning is who will have the most sneak ganks and how many goons will show up to outnumber the opponent.

to me this is trashy slimey garbage. theres no honor in this, i hardly ever feel any pride for winning a battle because they are always unfair settings. the fights are so chaotic and fluxuating in numbers so often you wouldnt even be able tell if it was a fair fight

i always considered node defense an honorable activity, but here protecting a node is pointless unless youre a dedicated tank because the nodes are so small and they get neutralized so fast. anyone should be able to fight on the node and keep it defended, but with this its impossible, 1 wrong dodge and the points already half way neutralized and most classes need way more space to fight than what is offered.

the 3 node approach has people buzzing around everywhere and the terrain is so terribly obstructive its constantly resulting in unsuspecting gangbangs out of nowhere and sneak up blowaways on already engaged fighers 90% of the game.

i hope a deathmatch mode will come soon. in gw1 you had your crew they had theirs, numbers were even, you saw all your enemies etc and strategy ensued. what we have in conquest is the lowliest form of gangbang trash fighting ive ever witnessed in an mmo.

You do realize conquest mode is not about killing other players right? It is about capping points. You completely failed in this post. Maybe if it was deathmatch, but not even then.

make a sound when queue pops…and a simple I am ready button.

If the button is not clicked within x amount of time, replace the player with someone who is ready from the queue, and is within a decent % range from the metrics used to create the teams in the first place.

If someone is Akitten match, if 3 or more people report or something, there should be a penalty on him, if it is ranked, keep said penalty, and do not make the match rated (keep glory gain etc.)

No it is bad design. If there is an overpowered build players will use it. Designers know this better than anyone. So they should design the game without OP specs, easier said than done, I agree.

But players will chose the path of least resistance, your should design your game for that.

When you add in E-sports and cash prizes, its just plain stupid to not play the most effective spec you can – it’s Anet’s job to make sure that those specs aren’t broken or too cheesy.

I could not have said it better myself. The reason I don’t mesmer in tpvp is because at the moment, everyone will blame me for a loss, or be like, free kill etc. mesmer and ele are basically not represented that highly in the tourney scene, although helseth did just win #1 in the last MLG tourney as a shatter mes. Weeeee

But yeah, why hamper your team with a sub-tier class when you can simply have a better profession and bring more to the table.

We are here to WIN, not to e-pride because you think you are so high and mighty with your high skill cap build doing average in spvp. We are here to win…not to whine.

No it is bad design. If there is an overpowered build players will use it. Designers know this better than anyone. So they should design the game without OP specs, easier said than done, I agree.

But players will chose the path of least resistance, your should design your game for that.

Wrong. Its called integrity, and I have it. Thankfully, I am not alone in my choice to not play broken or cheese builds. Does it make the game harder? Of course it does, but we earn our kills.

The players have more control over the state of the game than they realize. Once they stop using the builds, and collectively incentivize others to not use the problem builds, we can move forward with the pieces of the game that we do enjoy.

Integrity? Let’s not try get e-noble here.

That is like not accepting money because you don’t want handouts. Someone will get the money, and you will be SOL. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

ANET created something that needs to be fixed, that is all. Humans will always choose the easiest most effective route.

I find that using range/positioning literally and drastically improves your odds of winning during any duel. Tried doing this vs necros and they became much easier.

The only class I fear on mesmer is a really, really good thief.

Mesmers have so many tricks, use them!

Its prob cause u play Spvp but you dont play it competitive like in a team that only do that or on the leagues thatteams played to get into PAX and stuff like that, if you even watched the games from the top teams going for PAX you would know him and know that hes awesome

Well, first the assumption was that “everyone who PvPs has heard of this person,” and then when I said that wasn’t the case, it became “well, then you’ve never played anything besides sPvP.” And now that I’ve refuted that claim, it becomes “well, then you’ve never played tPvP competitively.” Next, will I have to say that I’m a dev for my opinion to be valid?

At most they will nerf it in the next patch, so if i were even slightly interested in glory ranks i will farm them right now before they nerf it, since i’m 99% that they won’t do a thing to anyone who farmed ranks with this exploit.
And since it seems that u are interested in glory ranks, start farming them as soon as posible.
