I have been thinking that it would be kind of nice to have Invisible Weapon Skins. I use a lot of magic based characters in this game and think that hand magic would look great.
Any thoughts?
IMO, Anet should have a toggle off appearance like they do with hats, shoulders, and should do with the rest of the armor slots.
Thanks for tracking what we say. #Privacy
Anyone who thinks that there’s privacy on the Internet is going to get a big surprise one day.
I was hoping the obvious sarcasm coming from that post is noticeable
The problem is that there are people who actually feel that way.
I’m not asking anyone to feel differently about the chests. I’m explaining how I see it (boosters gone; instead, we have a 10% chance of a rare skin unlock).
Just curious why you say they replaced boosters with the chance of a rare skin unlock. Boosters were the guaranteed item, which I see as being replaced with another guaranteed item: the Festival bag. Wardrobe unlock is a Rare item that has been added to the Rare Drop table like they have changed up the random slot tables before.
I’d rather spend my 42 Gems (they are free, anyway) on the chance for the Rare slot. Booster/Festival bag cancel each other out…for me.
As stated, each to their own.
My Gems aren’t free, I don’t make much gold in-game since I don’t grind. And after 4 years I’ve decided to try for a Legendary – no extra gold anytime soon. So any Gems I purchase with Real Money (also not a lot to throw away). Maybe that’s the difference.
Now before someone goes to “don’t throw your RL $ away on gambling”, for me the BL chests weren’t really gambling before. I use the Boosters and everything else was more or less useful.
The change is taking 1/3 of the contents and making it something that has a very slim chance to be useful but I would rather buy with 5 silver if I want it.
I agree! Also have no idea what the legendary medium is going to look like. I think the Mediterranean and middle eastern themes would be so cool.
Picture of the precursor Medium Envoy armor. Since precursors resemble the final item I think we can use it to judge the likelihood of a long coat on the Legendary.
I would really like to know why Anet would make something like Legendary armor exactly what we have been saying we don’t want any more of. Wow.
Looking at that pic again, having some kind of tube around the waist is not a good look…
I feel more like IWN; the Booster slot became a chance at something really nice, the Festival item is full-time now, instead of just for a few weeks, and the Wardrobe Unlock being a common item gives much better loot than what we had before.
For me, it seems like quite the improvement. Besides, there’s always a chance for something really good to drop from a Festival container. There was never that chance in the Booster slot (especially considering how often it was a Combat Booster).
Of course, each to their own.
I’d rather buy my Festival container for a pittance on the TP than purchase it with ~42 Gems…
I’ve followed this ( http://dulfy.net/2014/11/18/gw2-tangled-paths-story-achievements-guide/ ) guide for doing the achievements but somehow I find the last one to be really difficult.
The guide says I’m easily supposed to beat it in ~15 minutes but the mordrem predator at the end takes ages to kill. I had more than 10 minutes and still didn’t make it. Do I just have crappy DPS?
Aren’t the npcs supposed to help at all with the fight? They just run around and won’t even help me get up when I get downed. And as soon as you die you only have a couple of seconds to get back into the ring or the predator heals up to full and you’ve basically lost it.
Does anyone have a similar experience? Am I just too bad at dealing dmg?
Thanks
Unfortunately the NPCs don’t seem to do anything reliably. Sometimes they at least heal you but it doesn’t sound like this time they did. Not really sure what Anet’s plan for them was – I don’t need nothing but a chorus of remarks while I’m trying to deal with the boss.
And don’t let the veteran and Elite players fool you – there are plenty of people who find these instances too difficult. Most people don’t want to go on the forums and admit it because of “L2P”. But I have failed to finish most of the Story (personal & living) bosses because they are too difficult.
Most of the “boss” fights in LWS2 are easy mechanics wise, with only 1 or 2 mechanics in the entire fight tops. The exceptions are a few fights at the end of chapters (like Windmane, the two shadow of the dragon fights, and the rampaging teragriff) but even those aren’t too bad once you get the mechanics down.
I appreciate the offer of help, but this is exactly the type of comment most people expect when they decide not to post that they’re having trouble.
I say they are too difficult and you reply that most of the boss fights are easy. Exactly what I expected.
I agree! Also have no idea what the legendary medium is going to look like. I think the Mediterranean and middle eastern themes would be so cool.

If it’s a placeholder, why do you think the tool-tip as valid?
And if it is, what’s the problem? You don’t even know what it is yet, so why complain that it’s only in BL chests during certain dates?
Considering they just put a glider(Halloween Glider) in the Black Lion Chest, and now this description of placeholder outfit. I believe they are going to actually start doing this with more gliders and now outfits.
That’s not the point, it’s only going to be INSIDE Black Lion Chests during certain dates, which is the problem. You won’t be able to buy it outright from the gem store.
People will have to spend 2x, 3x, even 4x+ amount of money/gold on keys just to get the outfit than they would just buying it outright for whatever price on the gemstore. There was someone claiming their girlfriend spent over $100 on keys just to get the new ghost glider from the Black Lion chest and didn’t get it a week ago on the forums.
I would never use BL chests to get a specific item, just like I don’t use the Mystic Toilet for that purpose. Gambling was introduced by a certain sector of MMO and I deplore it.
Isn’t a little late?
I assumed these suggestions are for next year’s Halloween.
I agree with most of the suggestions, the only one I’m strongly against is the removal of Charged Quartz Crystal, Essences of Luck, an T6 Mats. The ones I agree with most are to give fangs/nougats/skulls more use.
With the amount of finishers we get every year, I say just give us the permanent versions. I still have hundreds left from a few years ago.
I also agree with most of the OP, but I also agree with your exceptions.
OP: regarding the Mad King being invisible at the beginning of Mad King Says, that’s on purpose. He rises from the ground when he is ready.

nto your wardrobe instead of getting the actual skin.
Most of the time I would throw it up on the trader, that’s how I made my extra cash. I’m disinterested in a lot of weapon and outfit skins, but feel them being forced down my throat.
What happens when I eventually get them all? That’s even if we continue to buy gems/keys.
Not happy at all with change….
You make some good points here. Although I like the idea of the wardrobe unlock, it is nice to also get skins you can sell. And when we fill our wardrobe the wardrobe unlock item will be useless if you get it.
Well, thanks for the information. I was waiting for Halloween to end to buy some keys. I guess I’ll be waiting a long time.
Considering how many players want Spirit Shards from Mastery Tracks to ‘progress’ their accounts, I’d guess ToKs are considered progressive.
I’m sure it is difficult for the Devs to please everyone.
You get plenty of Tomes with daily login rewards and plenty of Festival Bags during Festivals, but you do not get plenty of Boosters from anywhere in-game. So I don’t understand this change. I can’t see exchanging Boosters for Festival Bags as an attempt to please players.
<sigh> As much as other mats in that tier. You make the assumption that items of the same tier should have the same value and droprate and fine crafting materials should be harder to get than basic materials.
What is the point of designating Tiers and Rarity if they don’t actually indicate consistency within these designations?
I can create a food group called “purple food” but if I then include food that’s not actually purple, what was the point of me creating that group?
Well, Anet is doing just that, if you check the vendor value, which adds up depending on tier and designated rarity.
The value that is associated with every material on the TP is based on player choices. You cant blame Anet for that. The issue is that it doesn’t drop as much. The price is simply a result of how rare it is to drop.
It doesnt drop as much as what? As you would like to?

I support both of these requests.
If you’re going to stand on principle in direct contrast to the games mechanisms in place to accommodate what it is you want to do, it’s going to be a longer journey.
You’re right – leather availability is pretty abysmal – and they made way too many things require a lot of it – but the unfortunate solutions to it seem to go against your principles – so, either stick to your guns and enjoy the long ride, or …
Or, create a thread about the issue and hopefully other crafting players will support your complaint about an actual issue instead of the “everything is fine” posts that others have made. You at least admit there’s an issue.

I just don’t understand what Anet was thinking with this one. There are already toggles for Head and Shoulders. Why should Feet be so special that having bare feet requires so much effort?
I think that every clothing slot should be a toggle. But now if they make feet a toggle those who went to all this trouble might be upset. Maybe Anet can give them something in compensation.
Just make all clothing slots a toggle Anet.
I just opened one and got a tome of knowledge and a teleport to friend. That actually progresses my account backwards. :| I’m already drowning in tomes. Not very vet friendly.
I can never have enough teleports to a friend. They’re particularly useful to vets like me.

Hands up anyone who has a full set?
Nobody?
QED
Put another way, if nobody ever has these, there’s no point in having them in-game. Of the few people that may get them, even fewer would wear them because they have their own skins that they like. Players wouldn’t even see them in the game let alone have them. It’s a waste of developer effort to develop a skin that nobody ever sees.
The entire Achievement Reward system is supposed to be an incentive for however long the game lasts. There are MMOs that last 10 years and are still going. There is no reason to believe that anyone was supposed to get everything yet. In a year or two more and more long-term players will have full sets. Then people will be complaining that they are too common.
Except the number of long-term players doesn’t equate to the number of people with a high amount of achievement points. I’ve been playing for a very long time and I only have 5k achievement points. There are very few people with more than 25k AP and once Anet realizes that less than 5% of the population is ever going to acquire these skins, they’ll probably scramble to change it.
Just because long-term players are more likely to have more Achievement Points doesn’t mean that EVERY long-term player will (of course). If a player isn’t very interested in chasing AP, they won’t have as many as others. Which is as it should be.
I’m not sure that Anet will change the Achievement system in that case. There are many items in the game that are super-rare by design.
This is the first time in the history of the BL Chests that we know with absolute certainty what drops in the 1st slot as well as which of six items can drop in the 2nd and which of six items can drop in the 3rd. We also know there is a fix chance for a 4th slot with the uncommon/rare/super rare item, from a published list of items, and that account bound dups will transform into keys.
Not strictly accurate. You don’t know what list will be used for the 2nd or 3rd slots. It could be the Common for all 3 slots as we have seen from many reports of what people have received. And this is the issue for many of us: if there is the possibility of 3 items from the Common list, we don’t want one of those possibly-useless items to be an item that it’s almost impossible to AVOID getting in game they are so common. At least boosters were something that didn’t end up in my inventory every other second. I’m not going to pay money for a chest that 1/3 of the contents is something that common.
I, and most other people I’ve seen, aren’t saying all items in the chest need to be great, or not-Common, its just silly for us to pay money for something it costs us no effort to get in-game.
But we do. Look at the preview of what you find in the chests and look at the Commons section.
First item in the first row is the guaranteed seasonal item. The remaining six items on the first row are the “convenience item” that shows up in the 2nd slot. The 2nd row contains the six items that “will progress your account in some way” which shows up in the 3rd slot. It’s very apparent if you watch vids of players opening the new chests.
I see what you’re saying but I’m not sure what your point is. We’re still just as likely to get the Common items as we were before – they just gave us the preview so those who are easily tempted could see the Uncommon and Rare items that they aren’t likely to get.
You said we don’t know what drops in the 2nd and 3rd slot. My point is we do.
I was responding to your initial post. That post is what I’m wondering about.

Okay, so i had spare 100 gems im my wallet, i bought 25 more saying to myself well lets get nothing again, worst i can get is a ticket scrap. So i opened a bl chest and got that warderobe thingy, had no idea what it was, i opened it and got fused mace worth 830 gold. Wow just wow.
Yea, I think the wardrobe unlock makes the chests more interesting. Of course you have a bigger chance of getting some really common thing you just haven’t happened to unlock yet – especially if you’re a newer player. The wardrobe unlock is most valuable for those players who have either been playing a long time or who like to unlock everything. The items they have left for the Wardrobe Unlock to unlock will be fewer and more rare.
But I’m still not going to buy keys until the Festival item is gone. The Wardrobe Unlock isn’t a guaranteed drop.
Let me get this straight sure they cut out a slot in the chest by making the third slot a holiday only slot but if you can preview every chest you open before opening one can’t you ensure that you only open chests that have favorable conditions; that sounds like a win win situation to me.
The preview is for what is possible to get from any chest, not for what you will get with your specific chest.
There are many festivals so Wintersday, Lunar New Year, SAB. I’m just hoping whatever else will be sellable or easily converted to coin. Not sure what that would be during non-festival season.
Lunar New Year is the only other “regular” Festival. If they intend to make SAB a regular thing, I would hope that they don’t put Baubles in the chests since not everyone plays SAB.
But my question is still what they will do when there is no active Festival.
I wonder what they will replace the ToT bags with when Halloween is over. Hopefully they won’t go straight to Wintersday gifts. I would like to purchase some keys to try out this new system, but I won’t until these seasonal containers are gone from the chests.
But it doesn’t sound like they are going to be gone. Hence mine and others frustration. Feel free to correct me if I understood that wrong.
So you think that once Wintersday is gone they will still have seasonal containers? What containers would they have?
IDK. The uncharted territory I guess. Good question.
I’m HOPING that they won’t do something silly like leave Wintersday presents in the chests until next Halloween! So hopefully they will put the Boosters back. If they put something else in, hopefully it won’t be something you can easily get in-game.
But if they do leave festival containers in, I guess I won’t be purchasing anymore keys.
I was really surprised to see it, people have been farming the labyrinth like crazy and have many tot bags. The same situation will be true for wintersday. Can’t see how anyone thought it would be a good idea. As a +1 that is a different story, but taking up a whole slot, well I have already made my feelings known there.
Yes, like the Daily chests have +1 ToT bag.
Trolling or not; an exclusion zone would stop this.
May or may not be done on purpose. I usually see a merchant pop up in front of the last chest, which can be considered a courtesy, but at the same time, it has a bad habit of blocking the chest unless you walk all the way behind it.
That said, bolded part is fully agreed with. Player-created spawns should never overlap with other interactables, including other player spawns. Range 100 would be sufficient, probably.
Completely agree. I hope Anet addresses this.

The issue people in general have is even if they didn’t want boosters they are inherently more valuable, as per the game economy, than a ToT bag.
Boosters value is 100-150 gems, approximately 30g.
ToT value is currently around 5 and a half silver, or less than 1 gem.
There is a value loss of nearly 100%, that’s a huge disparity, and the other QoL improvements don’t make up for that loss of value.
That’s not an inherent value. ANet artificially sets the prices of the boosters… if they set them to 1 gem, you’re argument would be completely invalidated.
Do they change the prices for boosters? If not then it is an inherent value.
Through “promotions” and packages that include boosters, the prices do change.
~EW
I wouldn’t count packages, and a sale isn’t changing the price.

A single Trick or Treat bag is billions of times more valuable than another Tome of Knowledge, Revive Orb, or most of the other account bound junk that drops from a BL chest.
I can’t fathom why anyone would be opposed to getting a guaranteed ToT bag over the guaranteed garbage we used to get.
I don’t want anything that it is easy to get in another way. I can run around the Labyrinth for a while and get 100 ToT bags. I also agree that I don’t want a Tome of Knowledge. I don’t get Revive Orbs any other way so I don’t object to those. Same with Boosters which they removed.
One Halloween bag, one Merchant Express and one ticket that promised to give me a random RARE item. It could be armour skin, weapon skin, glider, mini or dye. It gave me Papaya Dye which is a COMMON dye.
Wanted to get some keys this weekend and gamble a bit but after this I’m never buying black lion keys.
I would bug report the Rare ticket.
I’m not happy that 1 of the 3 rewards was a guaranteed ToT bag. I don’t want to sound greedy but… really?
Thanks for the warning – I was going to buy keys but I get plenty of ToT bags already, its not like they’re rare. I certainly don’t want to essentially pay Gems / RL money for a ToT bag.
I often wonder whether the “scarcity” model of “buy it quick because it might disappear” really makes them more money than having the items all the time which in addition to not being frustrating for people who know what they want, also allows for impulse buying. I suppose it must work otherwise why would they do it. I’m sure Anet has professional marketing people figuring this stuff out. But that doesn’t help people like the OP.
There were lots of light armor skins, weapon skins and gliders in the store last time I checked. Wonder what happened to them all…
Are you REALLY suggesting that he should have purchased just any skins / gliders? You HONESTLY didn’t know what he was talking about?
Blahh, I say no to this.
I already have ppl able to follow me with no permission, this would give them the power to now spy on my build/gear/‘style’ from afar with no permission. …I rather like my privacy. And yes I saw a lot of “You wear it for all the public to see” Yea I do, but I also just cannot run around naked can I? And I won’t wear something ‘ugly’ that i don’t find appealing either.
As far as the style thing goes…I’ve had someone ask me once in game bout mine. And then show up the next day completely copying it. Down to character model face color and kitten. LOL rather disappointed with that.(Specially cause I’m an Rper) Yea, Anet owns all the rights. But.. It did take me time to find something I myself thought of as unique and they made it, Un-unique.
I got no problem if people ask up front, I’ll say what It is I’m using and what dyes I’m using as well. And sometimes it can create a friendship, because it Keeps people TALKING to each other. Which I feel is important rather then snooping from afar to get the same result even if it is easier.
Bottom line: It’s invasive. I don’t support and want it in this game , that’s for sure.
Simple
Go to settings. Select ‘allow gear check’ turn off. FixedWhat happens when you try to join a group and they say you have to turn it on or you can’t join?
Then theyre stupid people. My question is, why dont you want others to see what youre wearing. If youre wearing paladin armor and hide it, youre the villain. What i mean is, the average group knows the difference between meta, best, good, decent, bad and poor stats. If you run bad or poor stats you were gonna hold the party back regardless of them knowing the stats. They will either notice/think you have bad gear, or a bad rotation and kick you. You chose to hide that knowledge.
(Ps, by paladin gear i mean any stat set that needlessly replaces an offensive stat with defensive stats)
“you’re the villain”?! LOL I have known plenty of bad groups that want to gear check because they can’t succeed without certain gear. That doesn’t mean the gear is actually necessary if someone knows how to play.
If someone wants to know what skin I’m sporting, they can screenshot and look in the wardrobe. If they cba to do that, they really don’t need to know.
Sounds sort of elitist… kinda like “I got mine, don’t even ask me what it is, nah nah na-nah nah”
e·lit·ist – adjective – favoring, advocating, or restricted to an elite.
EDIT: there’s nothing private about style… you wear it for all to see.
So, it’s elitist to think that people should get off their dead kittens and actually do something to get what they want instead of crying to the developer to give them yet another convenience feature so they can get what they want with little to no effort?
Nah. This is just another attempt to inappropriately use a buzz word to try to discredit opposition. There’s no elitism in suggesting someone use tools readily available to everyone.
I think it’s elitist to tell someone to look it up themselves when they take the time to actually whisper or message you. Because due to any number of things, they may find the wrong one: there are a number of items in the wardrobe that look similar. And if they’re wanting dye scheme as well, that can be hard as well since dyes look different on different materials.
Whispering someone is an available tool in the game.
Asking the devs to add another tool to the game is a tool that players have. It’s what these forums are for. Giving feedback and suggestions to devs and others who make the decisions on what gets added or not. To say that it’s not elistist to say that players shouldn’t ask for things because it’s not in the game already is absurd.
I never said anything about whispering. You made that up. I offered screenie, then wardrobe as an alternative to a hypothetical inspect.
So, wait. Now it’s elitist to oppose ideas? I never said people shouldn’t ask, only that I do not want the proposed feature.
You said in your own words that if players can’t screenie and look in the wardrobe to find what matches then they shouldn’t know what you’re wearing. So maybe next time work on your word choice, because to me, like it did to juno, it read if I asked you what you’re wearing you’d tell me to figure it out myself by taking a picture. Which would be an elitist response to the whisper.
Its a thread about inspect. He offered an alternative to inspect. If it were a thread about whispered requests for information, who knows what the response would be.
Not elitist unless you create a new definition for the word to apply exclusively to this situation. If there is no exclusion. If there is no elite. If the options are essentially freely available to everyone. Then it is not elitism.
Maybe you should read carefully what was said.
IndigoSundown said that and I quote:
If someone wants to know what skin I’m sporting, they can screenshot and look in the wardrobe. If they cba to do that, they really don’t need to know.
That reads to me, and to juno as well if you’ve read juno’s reply, that if someone were to ask IndigoSundown what skins and/or dyes they are sporting, that the reply would be to figure it out themselves. That to me is an elitist reply. And it also means to me that IndigoSundown would always oppose players asking for the inspect too because it’s not the player screenshotting what skin(s) he wants to figure out. Which in turn makes IndigoSundown’s reply here smack of elitism.
Which means, if IndigoSundown didn’t mean that, he needs to watch his word choice.
This is a thread about allowing players to EXAMINE (title) your stuff. He replied in kind. Idk why you two are so hot to put words in someone’s mouth.

Well literally correct, you didn’t use the word “whisper”, you did say this:
If someone wants to know what skin I’m sporting, they can screenshot and look in the wardrobe. If they cba to do that, they really don’t need to know.
Which implies, with little doubt, that you’d tell anyone that whispered you to take a screenie and go look it up. Because “if they cba [sic] to do that, they really don’t need to know.”
That being said, I saw another suggestion which is to provide an “enable/disable” option for style inspections. If you want to remain private because you put effort into creating your style, then you can disable the style inspection feature. If you’re a more “open source” type of player when it comes to style, then you can enable the style inspection feature. Boom — problem solved, everyone happy!
The conversation is about “examining” (Thread title) so that’s what he was talking about. Fairly obvious to me.
Fixed
What happens when you try to join a group and they say you have to turn it on or you can’t join?
I would like this just to avoid asking “what skin is that?” when I see a cool look on a player.
Stats and traits can remain private. A way to “link” a build would be cool (a la GW1). That way I can ask and they can offer if they want. Maybe that will come with the next expansion when we can load/save builds
If you make it possible, groups can require it. I say no.
Groups will do what they will do. They can ask your build today and you can either lie or ignore them — either way you’ll suffer. Having build linking is not going to change that in any way (you could also link a different build so the ‘lie’ scenario is still valid).
Ultimately you can choose to run in those type of groups or not. Having build linking doesn’t change that in any way.
Why would you suffer either way? Right now you can lie and if you’re a good player you might not need what they are demanding. A method to view your build means they can view it right now so you can’t lie.

It would be great if there was at least some way of telling from the tooltip how each skin was obtainable. For instance if a skin was only obtainable from the Hall of Monuments, from the Gem Store, etc.
