As a fan of Fashion Wars 2, I enjoy making my characters look amazing and when a new skin comes out, I often find myself seeing where I can use these on my characters. However, far too often, gloves and shoulders which are added are asymmetrical, and because of this, make the characters look fairly lopsided and “unfinished”. The most recent glacial gloves are really pretty, but on humans, one glove is longer than the other on males. Can we get more symmetry with our gloves/shoulders to make it nicer for our characters to look better.
YES PLEASE! I’m tired of my characters looking like they pulled their outfits out of the lost-and-found bin. There is only 1 example that I can think of where having mismatched clothing was admired: Michael Jackson’s single glove. With the frequency that mismatching happens in GW2, you would think that people around the world think this is a great idea, do it in their Real Lives, and aspire to it in their fantasy lives.
I frankly can’t imagine why Anet does it at all.
I completely support this movement and all of the suggestions presented in the thread so far.

Time limits can work two ways: they can make you try to do something faster or they can cause you to postpone or even give up on doing something altogether. I tend to take the latter choice. This is a game and I don’t want to be rushed or feel forced to do things at certain times.
The idea is that you plan and prioritize your actions. Dont make the elixer without the intent of actually using it. If you aint got time to do the last instance, wait making the elixer for your next bout
Yep, this makes me not want to play the instance at all. I don’t have the game time to worry about logging in and not being able to play because first I have to fart around making an elixir.
you can prepare the elixer in one time, and then consume it in the next, just go to the font when you’re done playing. When you log in next time, you’ll be at the font to make the elixer and continue on
Good thing I am on the forums to learn from others mistakes instead of being frustrated in-game. I feel sorry for the players who don’t frequent the forums.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One of my favorite weapon skins is the Fiery Dragon Sword, which is free to a huge fraction of GW1 players. Some people think plain weapons without effects are better than ones that sparkle and pass rainbows like gas after eating bad chili.
Ask yourself why you like Gemstore skins better than Legendary skins — you’re the only one who can answer that, for yourself.
Speaking for myself, I haven’t liked any of the gemshop weapon, armor, or backpack skins enough to spend on them. All the ones I use are from collections, TP, achievements, or karma.
In the case of Legendary items, it is clear that Anet means for more effects = better. And I read the OP as speaking from that perspective. The Crystalline Wings are in a similar color category as the Legendary, but are brighter, bigger, and move more than the Legendary. I.e. they are more noticable.
Certainly if your taste runs toward the more subtle, then you don’t want any Legendary. But you wouldn’t want the Crystalline wings either so I don’t know why you would speak out for either in this thread.

I have no problem with trench coats if they’re done well and most aren’t, including brahams new armor. Everything about it I LOVE except the coat part. It’s too stiff and wide. Also, looks incredibly terrible on norns. Seriously, the coat part is much wider on norn. If you’re going to make a coat Anet, atleast make it look good on norns too.
I can’t think of a coat that shouldn’t have a wide load sign on the back, when worn by a Norn. It’s embarrassing.
Also, why do so many long items (coats, skirts, etc.) flair out at the bottom. Clothing falls straight down IRL and it just looks odd and bad that it doesn’t do the same in-game.
I think this is what Chas was talking about…
Who are these people wanting Female armor for Charr and Asura? The new Wolfborn outfit, Ancestral Outfit, and Exemplars Outfit (IIRC) have been ruined by making them gendered on Charr (The Ancestral outfit being the worst by far – The male got an excellently tailored suit that conformed to the anatomy of the race perfectly. The female got a stretched, clippy mess with a boobwindowtonothing)
I think that Anet needs to use a little common sense when it comes to female clothing for the Charr and Asura. On one hand, some players would like clothing for their characters with a more feminine look, on the other hand clothing meant to enhance breasts might be silly on characters that don’t have breasts in a human-sense.
Sounds like Anet failed in that respect.
Kodan simply do not have enough variety or versatility to become a playable race. Their limitations make for a far better and more interesting NPC. To become playable would lose much of what makes them unique.
I think it is safe to say the tonic is the compromise here.
Even if I am wrong, 175k is a nominal Karma sum, easily and quickly recouped by the time any potential race addition would arrive in game.
There had been talk of wanting Kodan as a new race, but I hadn’t seen any points like yours. The Kodan NPCs don’t have varying hair color, or other obvious personalizing characteristics as you say. So you are probably right.
I don’t know about the Karma being nominal. Certainly not for me. But it probably won’t be an issue anyway.
It recently occurred to me that if Anet introduced a tonic that allows you to play as though you were a member of a particular race, that would seem to indicate that this race is never going to be a choice at character creation.
If Anet did ever introduce Kodan as a playable race, many people would feel they have wasted their Karma on this tonic since they could now create an actual Kodan character. And the tonic would become far less likely to be purchased.
I haven’t done this episode yet because I’ve read about all the bugs and am waiting for fixes. But here is something I don’t understand: in order to complete this step you need an elixir. The elixir only lasts a certain amount of time which apparently is WAI. Yet I have read in other posts that:
-It isn’t made clear to players that the elixir will expire so people are surprised when this happens
- people don’t know what is required to make the elixir again
-and in this thread apparently the Devs didn’t make sure that the Firestone would be available again
This boggles my mind.
I’m just wondering if someone could answer this for me. Why would Anet sell skins in the Gemstore that rival or exceed the looks or a Legendary skin? Legendaries are supposed to be the pinnacle of all items in game. They require a lot of time and currency investments to craft. But now, I’m looking at a really awesome Crystalline backpack. I want to buy it, but I already have the Ascension.
The way I see it, if Anet is going to sell something extraordinary in the Gem Store, that would take away the need to get Legendary skins. If this Crystalline skin came out before the Ascension did, I wouldn’t have bothered farming and grinding PvP for it. The same could happen if Gem Store weapon skins were as good.
I appreciate that Anet did release a Legendary back item. And I also appreciate that Anet is selling a really high quality backpack skin. But I think that if you’re aiming for quality, the Legendary skin should always be better. I suggest someone revamp the Ascension and make the auras larger, or increase the particle effects to make it truly worthy of being a Legendary skin.
I have to agree (even though I don’t have Ascension). The Crystalline back is too much and competes too directly in color and effect with Ascension.
Thanks for the warning. No point in going for a visual perk that’s super-expensive AND hardly visible.
This is the only reason I haven’t made Nightfury. I wear the Noble outfit but Nightfury doesn’t show on Outfits. And even if I was to show my armour instead, it would be ruined without my current shoulder piece.
I’d prefer if they just changed all the shoulder/infusion/upgrade slot auras into toggled effects. Add a new slot on the Hero panel that lets you bind auras across all characters (people with multiple can then sell their excess), and allow auras to be toggled on each character.
Auras should definitely be an additional slot with toggle.
Does everything in game need a spoiler tag just incase somebody doesn’t know about it?
In my view, anything pertaining to very new content does, no matter how small. I’m currently playing with the chat widow off and (mostly) avoiding forum threads about the new stuff. It’s not a biggie and I’d probably rescue the cub anyway but it’s hard to keep hold of the joy of discovery in these sort of games. And it’s not that hard to stick a spoiler tag on it….
Maybe you should avoid the forums altogether then? Since you seem far more, ‘military’, in your description of “spoilers”.
I still don’t think this is a spoiler.I don’t really get why you are so upset. It’s not even your thread. All I asked was for a spoiler tag to give warning to others that they may also consider it to be a (very small) spoiler. /shrug
Not upset. Just find the “omg spoiler” mentality of something that isn’t a spoiler an unneccessary comment, like our entire back and forth.
He asked a simple question: “Can you add “[Spoiler]” to the thread title?” This in no way seems like “omg spoiler”.
I thought exactly the same thing – I have not been able to play much because of the upcoming US holiday and so I didn’t know anything about this either and would not have opened the thread.
Sounds like your friend knows when you are likely to get online and also has nothing better to do than look at some game panel waiting for your status to change. The only thing you could do about this is get online before he does.
1. There is already a warning in red text. If you are thinking there should be some kind of confirmation, I wouldn’t have a problem with that.
2. I agree that any character should be able to wear any skin, no matter the armor weight, culture, etc. The main problem with this is clipping. Anet has adjusted each medium skin to go with every other medium skin. They haven’t adjusted each Light skin to go with each Medium skin. If we want any character to be able to wear any skin, we would likely have to just deal with clipping. Which I am willing to do/
Here is a radical idea. Anet doesn’t want to pony up for more armor sets? So many are tired of outfits because it creates clones and stifles creativity? I saw a suggestion somewhere on this forum about the possibility of Anet creating just individual pieces. How about a shirt? Just a plain shirt- no shoulderpads, highrise or otherwise, no frou-frou or doo-dads, just a plain shirt. I am amazed how many games overlook the basics, even with their players calling for them.
There are some individual (tho pretty ugly) single pieces of armor in the gem store already. Why not add a few basic street clothes?
One big gripe I have, that they added a butt-cape to to the Hall of Monuments medium armor. Why on earth ruin it like that? I much preferred the original and would love to have access to that version.
I agree that more variety is better. My problem is this: I want more actual armor that is not outfits and that doesn’t have skirts, huge shoulders, or mis-matched left vs right. If Anet starts creating more individual pieces that are not armor, that takes away from development time for armor. So while I think that things like individual shirts would be great, I would prefer armor first.
Would really like to see a smaller guildhall based more on a building, something more like hte Guild Initiative HQ in LA. I just want to have a cozy building instead of a titanic ruin I guess. If you have a guild with about 5 players, you really don’t need all that space
There certainly is nothing wrong with having different sizes of Guild Hall. But 5 players can grow to hundreds and then you have to start all over with a bigger Guild Hall? IMO, I’d rather see a building(s) in the current “Guild Halls” (really Guild Areas) that people can use as the actual Hall and decorate, etc.
“Trenchcoat is shorthand on the forums (and has been used for months with this meaning) for all the armor that is not tight to the body but has a coat that extends past the waistline. "
Yeah so you want to eat the cake and still have it.
Look you can have armor that is not a trenchcoat and is not tight to the body either.
I mean I get what this all is about, you want skimpy armor. Well go play Skyrim and download some mods, Skyrim Nexus is full of anime bikini armors perfect for you.
Lol, why are you responding so offensively? I have no idea what you are referring to with the cake statement.
What it comes down to is that most of the armor in GW2 has some kind of skirt. We would like a better variety. There is nothing wrong with that.
I also don’t understand the point of putting words in peoples’ mouths – if people wanted bikinis they would ask for them. There are already threads asking for that.
If you think the armor in GW2 is fine, you are entitled to your opinion. But so are others.
Hopefully you guys are creating bug reports because there is no Anet response to this thread.
This isn’t really a suggestion or anything (Though if you want you can definitely consider it a suggestion in your inbox from moi) but I heard some people talking a few weeks ago about there being plans to add additional guild halls to the game based on towns (like LA/DR/The Grove etc). I was skeptical and googled it. Couldn’t find anything, but they were so sure of it and said they saw pics that I at least expected to see the fake post about it.
Because my heart wants a seedy pirate lounge from LA something fierce (Holographic dancers in my GH rave bar are great and all, but pirate dens) I wanted to ask on the forums and get a for sure answer. Is there any kind of intention to do this at all?
Also has anyone seen the (probably fake) post. I kinda wanted to look at it just to see the art.
The problem with having a Guild Hall in a town, is that it would be really small.

So you’re saying that 60-70% of armor HAS “trenchcoats” and even more for Males! Wow, that’s a lot of trenchcoats. And let’s look at these options more closely:
Prowler: Crafted (male = very long skirt)
Hellfire: Chest is at least 30,000 AP (still has a skirt)
Strider: Gem Store
Viper: Gem Store
Aetherblade: Gem Store (female has skirt, male has trenchcoat)
Krytan: Gem Store (male has trenchcoat)
Glorious: PvP
Glorious Hero: PvP
Sneakthief: Loot (male = very long skirt)
Illustrious: Crafted Ascended (some skirts)
Scout’s: Human Cultural
Assassin: Human Cultural (side skirt)
Evergreen: Sylvari Cultural (female buttcape, male long skirt)
Nightshade: Sylvari Cultural (buttcape)
Duelist: Karma
So, many are very limited: 1 is 30k AP (how many players are there?), 1 is Ascended, 2 are PvP only, 4 are Cultural.
The rest are reasonable to get: 4 are Gem Store, 1 is Crafted, 1 is Karma, 1 is Loot
And out of all you list, most still have some skirt (which is the usual objection for trenchcoats) and most of the skirts are on the male version which is also used for female Asura and Charr!
Does non-skirt armor look a bit more limited now?!!

People who don’t play something can’t possibly comment on what’s wrong with it
This is incorrect. One does not need to play a type of content, advertised as that type, clearly labeled as that type, streamed by other players as that type, posted on you tube in countless videos demonstrating that it is that type, for someone who does not like that type of content to be able to accurately, honestly, state that the content is off-putting to him.
Very true. In fact I will not be pre-purchasing the next expansion. I will wait to see if it is full of platforming and progression gating like HoT. If it is, I won’t purchase it. Once I am done with the parts of GW2 I have access to, or am significantly inconvenienced by not owning the expansion, I will quit GW2.
Its really such a shame. When GW2 first came out I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
I think cute or fun items should come at cute and fun prizes and or effort. A legendary weapon is serious business to make and it’s top tier; Therefore I expect nothing less then an epic piece of weaponry… There is honestly nothing epic about a fish tank, it’s just plain stupid… I know that’s just my opinion…. but I think they should have community submissions and community voting on the best legendary ideas to keep the majority happy. And sure we can do a female / male style pattern, I fully support an even balance there. But i’m pretty sure i’m going to like the outcome of polls and votes much better then many silly legendaries Anet comes up with.
Firmly disagree. This is a game. Why not have some fun? We aren’t playing Dark Souls or anything. This business isn’t that serious. Legendaries take a long while to make but they don’t have to be that serious either.
I haven’t made Quip yet but it’s probably the first legendary I’m going to craft, because FUN…and if not Quip, I will probably make The Dreamer to go along with my rainbow unicorn PvP finisher. Folks tend to take PvP just as seriously as you take your legendaries, and I like to bring a little lightheartedness into that realm by stomping people down with a big, loud unicorn who has my guild emblem tattooed on his butt and farts a rainbow out behind him as he leaps away into the sky with a whinny.
Serious business indeed.
I think you misunderstand the objection. There are plenty of funny and cutesy things in GW2, that is not the issue. The issue is that these weapons are called “Legendary” weapons. If Anet wanted to take all of the silly Legendary skins and make them regular skins, I wouldn’t care at all. However when I think “Legendary” weapon, I think Excalibur. Something I have to quest for that comes from greatness.
That is why some of us are expressing the opinion that the silly skins cheapen the idea of “Legendary”. IMO, in GW2 the word “Legendary” is meaningless.
My main objection is the use of the “ene” ending which popularly denotes a female. I don’t think that the gender of a dragon is important enough to affect the name. It certainly doesn’t for any other dragon we’ve heard about, including Glint.

Sorry but no, artists are artists, they are supposed to have their own style, and not just do “what the majority wants”. If “the majority” doesn’t like it, it might as well find another game.
This fishtank is amazing
If you don’t think that Anet directs the style that their artists create, you are fooling yourself.
I bought outfits. I will continue to buy outfits I like. I do not know what other players enjoy, but I like fashion wars.
Outfits aren’t fashion wars – they are simply pasting a look on yourself. Mixing and matching is fashion wars.
Armor costs more to make. If they make one set of armor for only one weight that only part of the chars can use and make one outfit that everyone can use, and they sell both for 700-800 gems each they’ll make more profit per sale selling outfits. Even if they sell fewer, as long as it’s above a certain amount they’ll still make more. And outfits do sell. I see people wearing outfits all the time. The more they make, the bigger the outfit wardrobe is, the more diverse the looks, the less you’ll look like anyone else if you wear an outfit. No more than someone wearing one full, non mixed set of armor.
I’m not sure why you’re bothering with this explanation: I DON’T CARE. I don’t care that outfits are easier and cheaper to make – I don’t like them. If all Anet cares about is making cheap and easy things to make the most money, then they will lose out because they won’t be making a quality product that people actually care about.
Are they losing out? Just because you don’t like them does not mean that others aren’t buying and that others don’t like them. Obviously a lot of people do like and buy outfits. Obviously it’s making the company more money than selling armor (or else they wouldn’t have switched to selling outfits). More money coming in, more content they have a budget to make.
Profit isn’t always direct. As Anet continues to water down their initial vision for GW2, they lose out in other ways.

As it turns out, lots of people buy outfits, so they are making a product that some people care about.
While you might not care about the reasons for yourself, if you want to convince ANet to change their policy, you should at least try to understand their position.
- ANet can make 10 outfits in the time it takes to make one set of armor for all weights + genders + races.
- People have shown willingness to pay ~700 gems per outfit and 800 gems/armor set.
- Gem shop additions have to both pay for their own development and subsidize the game.
You want more armors? Convince ANet that people will accept lesser quality skins/animations or that they can charge more or … explain to them how they can still make money by using a lot more resources while charging only a little more.
We already have lesser quality: clipping, skirts, etc.
As for making more money, right now they are making zero dollars from me for outfits. I bet that’s true of a lot of other players. And they are making less from people who don’t prefer outfits because they can’t mix and match.
But I doubt that Anet is going to change their priorities as some Manager has decided that Fashion Wars isn’t as important as it used to be (like so many other fallen Ideals). And I will continue to not purchase outfits and complain that they make outfits instead of armors.

Okay, I really don’t know what to say about this other than: why?
Is this your take on bad phun?
Is your calender stuck at april 1st?
Is this about some bet someone lost?
Do you guys ever go outside ?I just don’t get it…
“Legendary” shield…LOL
We would like variety.
That said, I would love for Anet to explain why we say “no more skirts” and then all they do is skirts, including for Legendary Armor! There doesn’t seem to be any mechanical reason for it since there are a (very) few tops without skirts attached. So is there some kind of contract: “must have skirts”? Or did some artist do hundreds of armor drawings that you feel must be used even if it makes your players upset?
Wait, are we talking about living story season 2? Cause that was easy peasy. Got to have some challenge in the game no?
I’m glad it was easy for you. I think there is plenty of challenge in the game, the story should be more accessible so everyone can enjoy it.
Ophidia Moonstone.2587, WvW is far from being a competition…
Fighting is competition…
While I’m glad that the OP is pleased with the outfit, I don’t get any use out of outfits because I can’t mix-and-match them. There is no outfit that I don’t say “I wish I could just use this part or swap out that part”. So I have never purchased / used an outfit to date.
Why don’t you provide also more details on your OFFICIAL forums, instead?
Why would they do that? Its not like people should go to the GW2 website for GW2 news or something…
The most Players are leaving because they got everything in the game.
What we Need is a better endgame Content, a more interesting one.
What we Need is diversity from all the farm, from all the waiting to the next update..
I dont really know what exactly we can do, but i think there are many ppls with great ideas.
If anet cant fix this Problem, gw2 gets a dead game soon.

EDIT: Mabye we can get a new rarity Level, after ascended armor. And the armor only Drops in dungeons and mabye fractals, so they get played more often. Mabye the stats are the same like ascended, but there are unique visual effects or designs.
AND: They are especially hard to get. It takes very Long, but ist not that difficult so everyone can obtain it.
Anet just created new Endgame content: Raids.
And Anet also already broke their promise of no gear grind by introducing Ascended. No more thank you.
Finally, people leave MMOs – its going to happen. Especially if they’ve been playing a long time.
I have always easily made my money back. getting expensive dyes, BL weapons skins, minis, etc, i have yet to buy keys and NOT come out ahead. totally worth it.
I hate to make assumptions: but not even close to likely. A single key via gems right now is the rough equivalent of 21G-31G depending on how many you buy at a time.
For a single key? That sounds pretty high but then I never trade gems for gold. Can someone show the numbers on this?
it would be based on gem to gold conversion at the instant you check it, which fluctuates constantly
yes, i have gotten home nodes and other such high money items which i have then sold. its absolutely been worth it to me for the loot i get. i absolutely do come out ahead, every time.
I just looked at the conversion on GW2Spidy and I had no idea that Gems were worth so much. It gives me a different perspective on purchasing keys (and selling Gems).

I completely agree with the OP.
Who at Anet thought “adventures” were a good idea at all, let alone force their completion to get MPs and items for collections?
The same person / people who thought that platforming in the open world was a good idea to add to a MMO.
Forcing your entire population to deal with twitch-based play will only chase away people who don’t enjoy that type of play. Minigames and JP should be optional ONLY.
Hi everyone, I decided to make this post where we can share lessons learn from GW2 and when a expansion comes out.
For example:
The lesson that I learned was that I should have completed the HoT maps when everyone was in the maps when HoT came out since to complete it now you need to either have a helping guild or wait for planned events in the community if you want to do it quickly.
I definitely agree.
Ok, that is likely true, but your opening post states you need guild and community to complete it at all, not to complete it quickly, that’s what irked me. I guess your advice holds for those who see map completion as something to get out of the way quickly, but I really enjoyed doing it over time.
From the OP:
now you need to either have a helping guild or wait for planned events in the community if you want to do it quickly.
Start your own LFG for CoE, especially for story mode to unlock the tracks. It’s hard to imagine you can’t find others to join you.
How am I supposed to finish a legendary when I cant get a party for a dungeon that no one seems to do anymore
I’m guessing that you didn’t really read the OP cause you wouldn’t be calling him a liar. Maybe he plays during an unpopular time.
I must have spent over 200 dollars in black lion chest keys. Probably not as much as some people but more than others. This is also over the span of about 4 years ofc.
If i had just converted all the gems I got from the money I spent I would have gotten far more my money’s worth than this incredibly pathetic attempt at RNG.
EVEN IF, I got so lucky as to find some ridiculously expensive item that i could sell, I would have MAYBE gotten somewhere close to breaking even.
My advise; stay away from this money grab. Never been worth.
I think it depends on the type of player you are. I don’t grind for stuff and so even after playing for 4 years I hardly have any Minis, Skins, etc. When I buy the (very) occasional key as a treat, I often get something that I didn’t have and I like getting BL scraps / tickets. I also used to like and use the Boosters I received.
For players who already have a lot in the game, I imagine that BL chests are not a good deal.
Of course now that Anet has ruined one of the slots for me with the Festival Bag, I won’t be buying any more keys and will be saving the ones I get in the hope that they eventually get rid of it.
I don’t get the complaint … there are tons of locations for any given kind of terminal you want. No one is every going to ‘troll’ you out of access to anything.
“Don’t get to use the item that you already went out of your way to go to? No problem, take even more of your game time, and possibly some $, to go to yet another location and hope that this one is available for use. Cause there’s nothing wrong with this behavior.”
Except that in the OP’s situation it was a World Boss Chest…
According to Gaile these acts are “pretty rare” and “many if not most are accidental.” If people are doing it to grief you should, “just move on and let it go.”

Gaile is one of those really nice people who just can’t imagine there are many people who would purposefully grief others.
There have been many suggestions on how to fix this issue like making every vendor (chest, downed player…) have a “hit box” area where no other item can be spawned. Until Anet does something like this, I suggest filing a bug report every time you encounter this. Maybe that will show Anet how irritating it is.

Bought season 2 and I really regret this.
I got glitched missions which needed to repeat, little to no explanation on the mission-puzzles with some requiring out-of-the-game searching.
And the final mission… oh boy… There’s a dragon that keeps smashing and chewing me, random exploding spores, flames that keep getting extinguished with no apparent reason that resets all effort and I keep running around in a small area, with little time to react, and dying from stupid AoE everywhere. Challenge shouldn’t be overkill like this. This doesn’t provide player satisfaction, just grief and frustration.
Nice trolling.
I completely agree with you and this is why I haven’t finished Season 2 myself. Unfortunately, Anet backed themselves in a corner with the Story: they made your character Really Important so what your character does should be Really Important. Unfortunately, in a Heroic Fantasy setting with Dragons, Really Important = Epic Difficulty for the average player.
IMO the Story should be something that everyone can experience without extreme difficulty. And not everyone has the time and/or skill to repeat it until they are able to complete.
