More Legendary Effects for Elites.

To add to the old legends/auras needing a touchup especially underwater/Queen Bee

Elite Specialization weapons are locked to the elite which is locked to a trait line

Personally I have zero interest to craft any legends for the sole purpose of an elite specialization. You craft it and then the second you drop your elite its unusable meanwhile our core weapons are never lost. A Chrono has a shield and the next Mesmer elite is rumored to have the Axe and the Mesmer knows how to use both weapons but for the life of the game we will never see a Mesmer wielding a shield and an axe at the same time. It’s one or the other and if both are elites its tossing one in the abyss over the other.

So I don’t see the point in touching up legendary elite skills when compared to other more permanent legends.

This happens way too much to be coincidence.

Hmm.. maybe your just imagining it

Maybe its your DPS as other classes have a much easier time killing mobs so their are less mobs around then they have to fight. A mesmer is pvp oriented and thus the mobs will take a bit longer to kill and since your fighting longer there is a higher chance to pull more mobs and thus your dealing with more.

I’ve noticed this whenever I’ve tried to use Staff and Scepter in PvE compared to the Sw and GS which can clear the trash mobs faster.

PvP is dead

You didn’t like HoT so you didn’t buy it and went in full steam with your core class thinking it was balanced. You tried and tried but the elites had an unfair advantage so you quit and never returned.

You did buy HoT you have an elite you try the season and dominate like shooting fish in a barrel. The people your killing aren’t bad players there doing what their supposed to do but you have stronger cards in your deck. You play and win but are bored no one likes to actually shoot fish in the battle people need challenge. As a Chrono whether I’m fighting against another chrono or a core mesmer they should both provide the same challenge.

Balance was so bad certain people exploited it and got bored in the end a ball started an that ball picked up other issues and all the issues both big and small combined and started to knock out any desire people had to play. No one issue is ever the cause of these things but a multitude of issues left to fester and compile till it’s simply too much for players to deal. My main issue was the powercreep but other people have different backs and issues that broke them.

Were not talking about people with multiple armor sets clogging their bags but instead one set of armor compared to another set of armor. The argument I’m hearing is that pvp players need several armors to equal to one set of legendary armor. That sort of odd statement in itself proves my statement and if its the person is going to need countless sets of ascended armor to stay competitive I’d say your only fooling yourself and probably wish for the death of pvp. People reading those kind of comments aren’t going to like those kind of remarks at all.

Why do pvp players need several armor sets? Have you ever played pvp? And more important yet, do you know how the stats work in pvp? Please learn about pvp before saying these arguments.

You do know that wvw=pvp and Spvp=pvp right?

If people talk about pvp with armors its not Spvp since its lacking the big S S S S S infront of it.

Yup however its not so much the armor as the things you can do during the rdy check window. You can swap whatever during that time frame and lets say for some reason you expect your team is lacking in condi damage then swap around everything for that purpose and click the ready check. Hence even in Spvp people have multiple sets of armor. If your team composition changes you should always adjust.

No is or to my knowledge has ever argued about the stats because their all the same across the board since launch regardless of armor. If your going in there with one pair of static armor compared to someone who can adjust their stats and runes on the fly then your at a disadvantage. If I see your name and I know your build I’m going to counter it in the next match with different stat combinations, runes, and build.

Then again I don’t pvp anymore after s5 its gotten too lopsided my chrono shouldn’t have such a big advantage over people just because they didn’t own HoT. There are numerous issues but some people quit because they couldn’t keep up with the elites and people like me quit because shooting fish in a barrel is boring. Whether my opponent is a Chrono like my main or a basic Mesmer they should provide equal challenge in any pvp environment.

Also more importantly my comment about armor sets was in reply to another person who said multiple armor sets would be equal to leg armor in a pvp. Which is true however multiple of anything in order to equal out isn’t ideal for anything a 1 -1 comparison is how things are balanced.

At this point I’d say it’s best to ignore those mindlessly defending raiding domination on the rest of the game and see about cutting our losses to save what little remains of the other modes.

Legendary armor has pushed thing to the point that all legendaries outside of their cosmetic appearance should have all abilities completely negated in WVW and PvP. Raids when done wrong as I view the path Anet has taken can and will destroy an MMO. The field is literally filled with sunken WoW killers who died due to poor raid implementation and overfocusing.

In WVW and PvP core and elites should be equal in power and legendary items shouldn’t be allowed to swap stats moving forward. A PvP match will start and the raider will have an unfair advantage over dedicated PvP players for they can see the composition change their build, change their armor stats, and even change their rubes without much effort at all. When you add in the swap change from legendary weapons and backpack it’s too much the scales of balance are too much. Anet pushed it too far these raiders say the games at the best balance its ever been but that’s only for raid builds and raids builds alone the pvp build are different and all PvP oriented modes have taken a drastic nosedive since Anet went on this raid warpath. So if they want to make legendary armor for raiders keep it out of PvP, WVW, and Fractals. .

Have you ever played PvP before? You can stat swap gear as it is. Please read up on how PvP works before saying things like:

“A PvP match will start and the raider will have an unfair advantage over dedicated PvP players for they can see the composition change their build, change their armor stats, and even change their rubes without much effort at all”

Anyone can do that regardless of gear.

Please learn about the game modes you all keep advocating because it seems most of you here don’t really understand how PvP really works.

You’re kitten ed right, and the same is true for WvW since everyone can craft multiple armors/weapons/trinkets for different builds and the price of all of this will be lower than the L. armor’s price…

Even if you need to switch, the several armors option will take less time than the L. armor option!

The only benefit of a L. armor is that you don’t have to fill your inventory with multiple armor sets and maybe (if you like it) the look it provides!

That’s all!!! The ascended stats and the legendary stats ARE THE SAME! The switch option is simply quicker and cheaper if you have several armors… Once more, people are just crying for nothing or just being thoughless!

In a 1-1 comparison you the things each item can both do and can’t do are both excluded instead you compare what one item can do over the other.

In one set of ascended to 1 set of legendary there is no debate that the legendary is superior because it can do things the other cannot and that’s what you compare the state swap and the run swap.

Were not talking about people with multiple armor sets clogging their bags but instead one set of armor compared to another set of armor. The argument I’m hearing is that pvp players need several armors to equal to one set of legendary armor. People reading those kind of comments aren’t going to like those kind of remarks at all.

That type of argument doesn’t hold up anywhere in any situation its like saying the person who uses a single smartphone doesn’t have any advantages as the person lugging around the pager, oldschool flipphone, kindle, camera, handheld gaming device, flashdrive, etc….

It’s not crying nor does it even effect you raiders at all if it’s kept separated from PvP style content seems the raiders and Pve players are crying that they can’t force things on other players. Keep all your toys just keep them on your side of the fence its no big deal nothing I’ve said will have any effect on your raiding or your pve so you can’t use that style of argument against it.

Heavy still has armor the term heavy doesn’t mean just metal they could make a heavy set of armor with barbarism styled animal hides or cloth and bone.

Medium is still overloaded with trench coats more shirts would be nice for a change

Light armor has maybe one pair of pants nothing but dresses/skirts and the like a few pairs of pants and maybe a pair of shorts isn’t asking for a whole lot.

At the end of the day legendary army had to be generic akin to ascended armor. Nothing they’ve shown will clash too much with whatever your personal characters theme happens to be. Nor will anyone really require legendary armor to complete there own theme. For instance imagine if the armor was dripping with slime like the TT wurm armor then some people would be put off by the slime and put that as a reason not to make it while others who luv em’ some slime would feel obligated to get it or forever feel incomplete. They may even quit if their unable to get the armor.

The meta is speed and being able to flip your entire build outside of a few trinkets will effect the speed and effectiveness of a party.

Before all that though the raiders will turn on themselves as legendaryvrune and stat swaps will shave a few seconds off a raidbrun and thus legendary armor will replace legendary insights as a raid requirement and thus we go full circle.

Next living story episode is coming in about a week

The reason I’m bringing this up is because
The first three maps all had farming in the way of map wide buffs that granted additional karma and exp for taking actions. Bloodstone had an EXP farm while the other two were karma farms. Lake Doric on the other hand had no farm buff but instead had a leather farm. Whatever you think about the leather farm it slowed the rapidly increasing price of leather without it the diparity between the mats would be much greater.

That said we can say every map had a farm and the leather farm is no doubt from community input. So the question remains what type of farm will be brought into the new map?

This topic exists just like the leather topic existed back then so I think it will effect MC but they don’t have to effect MC’s directly in order to change the situation. The map seems to have large creatures and a jungle like vibe so since PvP/WvW have a clover farm through tracks it only makes sense to have a clover farm for people who don’t like player vs player content. Maybe tons of tightly packed champions with a 10-30% chance to drop a clover or even a new world boss that drops a daily clover directly. As adding to the WB rotation would give the map longevity that the other new maps lack.

Just because they work at Anet doesn’t mean they’ll all be working on GW2

A company needs to think about the future and games take years to develop so what if there working on something else. Look at all the spinoffs that WoW produced and sure GW2 characters or rather just Rhytlock I think are used in other works like the Moba MXM. That wouldn’t necessarily stop Anet from working on some other genre.

So numbers don’t matter heck the quality of the worker also must be considered are they a vet or fresh out of school for instance.

One would also think if that many people were actively working on this game alone they’d feel secure enough to give even some modest predictions about the direction they plan to take the game.

As for PVE that too is pretty easy as unlike core specs the elites were made with roles in mind and those roles only exist for the one mode using roles that being raids. Elites so poorly vetted for PVE that builds like the frost gun literally went unchecked for over a year. It was fixed recently but that’s an entire year of a God like build eclipsing all other classes pushing those in tank and healing specs into bronze and silver because the lions share of the work went to the source of the godly dps.

This part of your post is so insane i just can’t believe what im reading. Godlike build eclipsing all others? If 10 people were using this in Open world PvE i’d be surprised of it. It got nerfed because they only just learned it because WoodenPotatoes made a video about it. Noone was using it before, have never seen a frostgun in raids (can you even use one in raids?). The elite specs werent made for 1 mode or dont have roles that only work in 1 mode? They work in dungeons and in fractals. A fractals is basically a 5-man raid so you still want a healer and a quickness giver there. Druid doesnt only serve a purpose in raids. You can use it in fractals, dungeons, WvW roaming, WvW zerging, PvP,….

Yup bundles cannot be used in instanced content so you’d never see it in raids which is the point

As for its usage it’s not a flashy build the main tell you used to get was that the stacks of bleeds on the mob were represented by an exclamation mark. People used it all the time and it was great just like the afk Necro farming build which would also get nixed if used in raids it made things faster and easier for players even if it knocked some into silver and bronze.

Elites were made with raids in mind and back in my day we zerked our dungeons and we zerked our fractals trinity is an option but not needed. The raid issue comes with Anet trying to make each class viable for raids for instance Necro and Mesmer needed a raw dps increase and Anet gave it to them. They got them for raids but my Chrono already did really well in PvP since I whittle them down there is no timer after and the Necros already existing frost gun deal got buffed. It went from a superior to the other classes build to a godly build that WP decided to make a vid on.

The whole rant about how raids don’t have a reward system that will keep people interested in it is also silly. First of all the reward is the content. Raids are designed extremely well, and have a well-written story. Secondly, they offer a good chance each week at getting ascended weapons and trinkets. (My bank is so full of raiddropped ascended weapons i’m running out of space). Besides that they offer cool unique skins and mini’s. And you also have tokens that allow you to buy asc gear, the unique skins, ghostly infusions (worth 200g).

Saying that dungeons are in a good place and the tokens keep the gamemode alive but that raids don’t have anything that will keep people interested is so obviously wrong.

Happens in other games all the time the casual raiders care more about content while the hardcore care more about the carrot.

If a game like WoW or FF14 didn’t offer gear with increasing stats with every raid then there raids would die. Raiding communities in all games thrive on this concept of constantly pushing there characters. In Gw2 we have legendary armor and that’s it and it’s the first hurdle you can’t make a comment good or bad about the future of raids until after they finally release the carrot. The casual raider who doesn’t care about loot and only wants the experience has to be lead into raids by the devs. WoW does it through lfr and other MMOs donor by making raids a natural and smooth progression from dungeons like in FF14. Gw2 does neither and casuals first go at raids are typically a toxic pug by groups more interested in getting farming in for their precursor armor than being a mindful mentor.

Legendary Armor actually damaging raids has actually been a topic of discussion for months and many people figured Anet would add additional systems before hand but apparently it’s slated for E5. Heck something as simple as gating mastery points and exp to the raids themselves thus giving a slight sense of progression and a reason for people to keep coming back to push that level like they do in WvW. However one boss kill, HoT points, and a few DS metas and raid mastery can be maxed with no reason to do anything extra. Also decoupling spirit shard aquisition from raid mastery cause nonraiders are forced to kill a raid boss before they can start to get spirit shards for maxing there exp bars. I have 181 mastery so I’ve done it but holding their exp hostage until they kill a raid boss is the reason so many players sit just shy of the mastery cap.

Absolutelly biased its not the raiding reams fault that wvw team has only one dev and its on life support PVP had changes to the system with every season and seperate balance for some time now. Raids have the concept of tanking (control) healing (support)and dps which exists in fractals for along time and even in dungeons u were seen control and support utility. Hell even in fractals theres slightly the concept of agro management lol.

About the frost gun…. the game if full of such wierd weapons with theor own kits do you expect anet every time the make huge changes and introduce new wlite specs that they will go through all the weapons? Btw raids have nothing to do with the fact that deathly chill is broken and it synergizes so well with the frost gun which was made possible after the ridiculous buff to deathly chill as of last patch… So how the gun reaper combo is broken for years is beyond me.

Ppl asked for challenging content and the devs delivered ppl do them to a big extend for the replayability value and pretty much like how i do 100 cm every day because its amazing content. Raids have prestige in them in various achievements and skins. Ok, so legendray armor swapping will ruin wvw.. yeah sure legendary weapons which are a bigger boost in terms of stats than armor sure broke wvw real good… Pvp has and will get updates (diff team (i hope the have a team tbh)) that has nothing to do with raids wvw is in a sorry state because for anet apparently the biggest selling point of the game wasnt worth sustaining. THIS HAS BEEN THE ISSUE FOR FOUR YEARS…

PVE is fine lul the lw maps are boring with no actual reason to go back but thats the trade off for new map each release…. ack to the core specs and elite specs…. there was always the concept of support control and dmg in the game if you didnt see it you are blind. The game added for like 4 bosses the concept of tabking and the concept of fixations that doesnt mean an elite soec was made with tanking in mind. Name me one feature of chrono that makes it a great tank. (ill w8) Roles like druid or tempest which were made with more support in mind according to their traits were an attempt to open up more paths and builds for these classes which you can see everywhere for the random guy who runs healer reaper and tempest in meta to the ventari rev in fractaks or raids to the druid.

Raid i suppose are an old concept. But looking at how successful many mmos that have raids are i dont see why gw2 cant take their shot at raids. (the top 2 biggest mmos atm other than being sub based are also heavily focushed on endgame and raiding in specific just saying.)

Tldr you are biased and just because 1 or 2 teams do work inanet that doesnt mean you have to put the blame on them because wvw is terrible….

I haven’t even given my opinion in making straight statements
Also there are many failed MMO’s look at the history of the ones that dropped their sub or simply don’t exist anymore. The top two MMOs are subbed based so constant content, stat increases, and difficulty modes to seperate the casuals and toxic elements. There is no bias and I don’t care how many devs are on each team the dmg is done the game has lost esports and other games have added there own WVW modes which WVW players feeling neglected are talking about and leaving for more and more.

People asked for hardcore PVE maps seperate from the core story areas such as in Gw1 and other games. In GW1 there were maps that you’d never step one foot in during the story campaign these maps lead to hardcore instances, small outposts with elite armor vendors, and people would literally pay others to run them through it. People wanted seperate over maps for Gw2 but instead everyone including the new and the casual were forced to go through. I made posts asking for raids to be added to this game myself however for me and others the only example we had was the Toxic Tower. TT was like a 25/40 man WoW raid and people began demanding raids in force. S1 proved you caneaids could be more than just mindless serfs. Imagine if they took this route and TT, Marionette, and the Fall of LA still existed today raids.

However they gave things that people didn’t expect and implemented them without much input in part cause this game lacks a PTR. My personal opinion is that Anet hasn’t done enough to ease the barrier of entry. Unranked in pvp, roaming in WVW, story in dungeons, pre at req in fractals, and so forth

And I though sPvP always crippled the rest of the game with stupid balancing decisions …

For a time it was but they did that split but for some reason the split was made between spvp and pve that it. No real split between raids open wold pve dungeons/fractal and wvw.

explain to me how balancing with raids kittens up the 5 mans and the open world?

Some guy just needed something to pick on raids. He’s not even using logic, math or data, he’s using his “feelings”.

Think it’s the reverse and people defending the current state of raids.

Pvp/WVW is easy enough you’d have to be living under a rock not to notice that broken and exploitive builds roam free until vids of them soloing raid bosses appear.

As for raids themselves there the weakest mode and getting a lot of attention from Anet. WvW has near limitless rankings, PvP has seasons and WVW used to have that too, fractals have AR points, and dungeons have tokens/aetherblade keys these things have kept the modes alive for years and they’ve all been tested and mounted many hurdles. Raids on the other hand haven’t even hit there first hurdle that being its reward the legendary armor. Raids in other games are an endless treadmill of higher stats but this game lacks a treadmill. So once they get legendary carrot armor what can Anet possibly offer them? They can’t really add more legendary armor because for instance I have the Bifrost and since I have a legendary staff I find Nevermore to be redundant so I have zero desire to craft anymore legendary staffs and once people get their armor they’ll be golden.

Raids are an old MMO concept and if Anet has apparently ignored years of information regarding the mode. Raids grow from the ground up with developer created systems to get players into the mode, there needs to be a treadmill of prestige, and toxic players need to be separated best by giving them a hardcore mode so they don’t chase of new and interested players. Focusing too much on the upper branch of raiders has killed many an MMO. People are concerned for the health of this game as PvP and WVW has fallen in disrepair and Anet is putting all their eggs into raiding which could still fail. When everyone is in LA showing off their armor instead of in raids, when pvp is even thrown even more off balance when legendary armor users are swapping all there stats around before every game, and WVW gets worse when zeros can swap from nomads to beserker whether there seiging or defending what will become of this game with the weakened state the other modes excluding fractals are currently in?

Decent review though he goes way to much into raiding I swear this must be the first MMO for many people. I’ve read these posts and nothing but a sea of people begging for a second coming of the WildStar debacle.

The stance on raids seems to be divided up between people who’ve played other games and people who are just starting now. Unless you go the WoW or even FF14 route with raids they’ll just bring an end to the game there is historic precedence for this with countless other MMO’s focusing to heavily on the single aspect.

No point in debating it really cause these forum debates are just mimicing the debates I’ve seen in other games. Heck according to revenue all other NCSoft games are doing better than this one excluding WildStar and people literally made the exact same arguments for that game and for others.

I believe LS3 did much more for retention than raids but other than that I agree with WP’s assessment.

What im saying you knowledgeable person is that legendary qeapons require you to do stuff in many parts of the game saying they are pve is a sign of ignorance. Idk you can show me how to make a leggie without running wvw id apreciate it ^^

The same way you make the precursor(Legendary) armor without doing PVE jumping puzzles

Yet oddly enough people still think legendary armor is a reward for raids maybe you should tell them that its not a raid exclusive reward because you have to do so many events around the world to gather mats.

Look at this way

Legendary weapons -PVE
Legendary Backpack -PvP/Fractals
Legendary Armor – Raids

What Legendary can the WvW Players get you might be thinking?
Well the answer is about as much as Anet cares about WvW these days

Raids shouldn’t be the only source of legendary armor and it should have been given to WvW players too. Not to give WvW a legendary to work towards which it desperately needs but like the legendary backpack it spreads out the reward. Legendary armor is the big bad reward for raids and there are no doubt people right now who don’t like raids and are only chasing that carrot on a stick. The carrot is so big and so focused in that single mode that the second people get it they’ll start bailing on raids. Armor isn’t weapons as your main toon will ever need one set of legendary armor what are they possibly going to give to loot chasers after the armor?

gift of battle hue hue

Well it is purple but it’s a mat your not gonna equipt a mat. That’s like saying the backpacks are PVE rewards because they use PVE only mats and need PVE crafting. No doubt legendary armor will need PVE input too and people aren’t changing their tune that all these things are mode specific rewards. We don’t count legendary weapons for dungeons either even though we need tokens. WVW could reward a legendary ring or even a legendary aquabreather and it would be fine but for now they have nothing.

But hey if you really think gift of battle is on par with the legendary rewards in the other modes go make a post on the WVW forums about it and see how that goes.

To both release one every 2-3 months and have them all out before next xpac puts the next xpac at 16-24 months out from now.

Contrary to some eager voices on the forums, we’re unlikely to get the expac before Q3 2018 anyway, so…

It’s funny but the vast majority of expansions be it GW2, FF14, ESO, and some others release their games on odd numbered years for instance ESO and FF14 are getting there’s this year 2017. Many people pushing Gw2 expansion 2017 are doing so to avoid the great MMO migration. When millions of MMO players leave their games for 1-3 months in the even years in order to try the new WoW expansion. The player base for WoW increases by a difference more than the entire player base for other games. It’s only temporary though and all those people talking they sometimes resettle in completely different games.

At any rate late 2018 is way to close to the usual WoW expac release since those release on even years. Any marketing they do would only get washed over in the sea of WoW ads so late 2017/early 2018 with the other expansions releasing this year or skip on up to 2019.

You can always place an order for them at 50s. If someone agrees that it’s a good idea, they’ll sell it to you.

Failing that, consult guildies, friends, and other trustworthy individuals that think similarly so you can trade internally. A pool of 10-20 people is more than enough to generate the coins needed.

You’d have to wait for the tens of thousands of buy orders with higher prices than 50 silver to be filled before someone would fill yours. So this doesn’t actually work

Oh, so you mean these tens of thousands of people think a higher price than that is reasonable?

Just because you have a buy order out does not mean you think the price is reasonable. If you need coins you need coins, and since its just not practical to gather them yourself, that means resorting to buying them. And if you have to resort to buying them, you have to put up a buy order that actually has a chance at being filled.

That need is purely subjective.

It is not about needing coins. It is about needing coins now. The game gives you coins for free. You can also get 1 a day and from the occasional daily. You can also get mystic clovers from the track.

The problem actually fixes itself

No, it doesn’t. You people really need to start letting go of this notion that you can gather the coins you need yourself if you are just patient. If you want just 2 HoT legendary weapons, that requires a bare minimum of 500 Mystic Coins. With 20 guaranteed each month, assume (lets be extremely generous here) 5 MF dailies each month, that’s 25 guaranteed MC each month. At 500 needed as a bare minimum, this is almost 2 years worth of waiting to gather the coins yourself. That’t not acceptable to wait for 2 skins. It just isn’t.

lets say 6 months is a reasonable time to get a legendary from scratch, so in that time you gained 150 coins simple from playing, so basically you need to earn a paltry 2 gold a day to buy those coins which takes minutes to earn. the issue is the modern ‘i want it now’ culture.

Thank you for proving my point. There is no viable option to just gather your own coins. They all fall back towards buying coins in the end. Just because it might be “easy” to earn that gold doesn’t change the fact that it just is not viable to gather the coins yourself. So people need to stop spreading that around as if it is true.

Of course it’s not viable to farm your own coins their the most gated crafting mat in the game. With a good chunk of the population without login rewards there only option is to buy. Seems all the people arguing with you seem to forget some basic things in that you can’t buy anything with MC so it’s not a currency and shouldn’t be treated as suc and the most important part in that F2P accounts don’t have access to daily login rewards. They don’t get the gold, MC, laurels, or even the monthly loyalty chest. Considering a good chunk of the game is obviously F2P since it’s free a good chunk may be lucky to get maybe 3 coins a month on their own. So buying is their only option is to buy the MC if F2P accounts were allowed to post in the forums I’m sure they would have spoke up. F2P also can’t convert gold to gems so they have to straight up buy cash shop items so they’re still a very important part in this games community. More so than the ones who bought the box but don’t use the cash shop so it’s just another reason to adjust coins.

Personally if I was a dev I’d be more likely to consider changing up the economy, login system and the events for players who have invested in the game by buying it than I would for players that play for free.

They make money through cash shop purchases so those who spend money in the cash shop would obviously take priority and they do as our cash shop is regularly updated. They can’t buy gliders but they can buy those dagger skins and the majority of that SAB stuff. The F2P model thrives on the shop after all as for the economy it’s an economy and whether their F2p or not it effects all players. There standing doesn’t really matter and it hurts all players by not treating them all equally since they are taking part in the in game transactions on the TP an effecting all the pricing on the items we all use.

A whale can still be a whale and never fork over a single penny to actually buy the game. It just means that HoT isn’t worth the investment to them but the flashy cash shop items are something they desire

… making Mystic Coins cheaper would merely shift cost to another part of the item.

Also: Cheaper MC —> More legendaries crafted --> More high tier mats consumed —> Higher prices in other markets.

— means more money in the pockets of the poor who can sell a variety of different items not just coins to fund their gaming needs

No, it doesn’t. The rate of MC and other material gathering is the same across groups of players, rich or poor. The money that people get from the TP is equal to what players put into the TP (ignoring the tax). So a player spending 500g on a project will have that 500g spread across those materials regardless of the individual material prices.

E.g. If the Buyer spends 100g on MC, and 400g on other mats, then the sellers get 500g. If the Buyer spends 50g on MC and 450g on other mats, then the sellers get 500g.

In fact, having MC at a higher price ensures that all sellers, regardless of their farming habits, have a good portion of the profit. It rewards people for just logging in.

Your missing the point
Plus your example doesn’t counter anything I’ve stated

MC is not a currency it is a mat and a basic mat at that akin to maybe corn or steel in the real world. It’s pretty basic that when a core resource like that is inflated it stifles all the products up the line. In this case it’s legendaries and it’s been stated numerous times that the other mats used I. The later stages of production are all dropping in part because fewer are. Ring made. It’s been said since the first legends were introduced that clovers are your first task. That first task has been made slower and thus requires more MC. Coupled with that the over all cost has gone up for MC and at this late stage of the game it only makes sense that the vast majority of legendary crafters alreadyvown one and your crafting additionals because they can. These multicrafters are the easiest to deter and the driving for of this games economy. So yeah gold for gold like you said but that gold is spreading farther and the sellers are getting paid less.

When you get right down to it this is a game and there are many things preventing it from being a normal economy. The MC situation is a straight up bubble on an item way to low on the production line that’s effecting the entire market. Raising the price is suicidal for the market the value of the other goods will only increase. If the items created weren’t account bound the damage caused by this obvious bubble would be more apparent but for now it’s pretty obvious a freely given gated mat should never be a focal point of the economy like MC are right now. Anet knows this and it’s the reason why laurels are a currency and they’ve tried to deflate the toxic MC bubble by tossing MC coins out with dailies and with the legendary anomoly.. Denuing MC is in a bad spot or in a bubble is just going up against the fact that Anet has tried to take action already it’s just been to small and the MC bubble has grown while the other mats used in crafting continue to stockpile and drop in price.

— means more money in the pockets of the poor who can sell a variety of different items not just coins to fund their gaming needs

— means other things are funded and higher prices spread out to even more items that can be sold by other people rebooting our economy

For instance most people have a desire for something that can or probably will be available through coins. Like people who like the idea of the holiday infusions who will either hoard for those or hope for new infusions for different holidays.

Then you have things like amalgated gemstone which since I have no desire to craft any of the new legends I’d be willing to part with easily. By spreading the cost to more items you know doubt hit junk items sitting around in peoples banks that they will no doubt sell and use that money to fund their own goals. Increased legendary production is a good thing for the economy not a bad thing the issue with mystic coins are their a focal point and used in too many things. Something as simple as a PVE Mystic Clover farm(PvP content already has a farm so you know Anet at least thought of this solution) would probably be enough to fix the price of Coins since it would lower the amount that are simply flushed for elder wood and other worthless items. The exchange of coins are for equal valued items is everywhere except for the rng nature of the toilet.

I disagree that character bound masteries would have been a better approach. All it would have done is spread out the grind somewhat. But eventually it would require more grind to get all of your characters their masteries than it currently requires.

Agreed.

That all depends on how many characters a person has and while its true many people have used up all their character slots there are many that still have a single main and use those slots for mules. So while account bound sounds alright for altoholics it’s not that great for the single main toon user. I beat HoT by grinding to get over the mastery gates pre patch and then when everything was done I was still no where near close to maxing masteries. Some single users grinded dungeons while others loaded up on the exp boosters whenever they did DS and yet other used holidays. You can even look around while playing the game and you’ll notice many people are not at the mastery cap of 181. They bought HoT of course to even get mastery level by their name in the first place but many are no where near the cap and the ones I know went and beat HoT but had no desire to sit around and grind out masteries doing the same content they already did on their single toon. Those people quit but eventually came back like myself due to LS3 and had no problem leveling the much smaller exp cap needed for the ancient magics mastery line. If their going to reduce the exp caps for mastery anyways like they have then it might as well be character locked. A mule or rarely played alt doesn’t need fully unlocked masteries anyway its the same as making your character level account bound.

It is just natural that you would tend to agree with Woodenpotatoes on some parts and to some extend and disagree with him on other parts.
Therefore I just want to address only two of his statements

1. Raids being awesome

As a casual player with a full time job (unlike Woodenpotaoes, who’s full time job is to dedicate his time to Youtube/Twitch and GW2 content, IIRC), Raids have been nothing I was looking forward to and would rate significant for the vast majority of players. It is a niche aspect of the game, that is bound to specific times to play (organization of the team, fairly long game time to finish without a pause etc.) , very specific build & group composition and a very complex game play.
For such a small part of the game, the actual (and perceived) Dev time devoted to it was huge and general PvE and QoL updates + balancing seem to have been set to a lower priority. This has contributed to the “content drought”.

2. Character bound masteries

I agree that masteries should matter more and the acquisition was gated behind some strange walls and concepts, but character bound masteries would be a nightmare for me. The fun of the unlocking process will never outweigh the repetitiveness of getting MPs on each character and gaining XP for levelling up that mastery.

He is by no means the first person to champion the idea of character bound masteries in fact many people felt that way when HoT launched. I know many people who don’t even bother trying to unlock Masteries. Anets answer to this was to increase exp slightly which really didn’t do much.

Many people have mains and the exp required to unlock masteries is bloated for the sol sake of being account bound. If it was character bound then obviously that much exp would no longer be required thus they would be gotten much faster and it wouldn’t be so much of a nightmare to redo them on other characters at all.

The mastery points obviously would remain account bound since mastery points are tied to achievements. One would think masteries would unlock with exp at a rate that an alt can unlock all the required masteries for story while playing the story itself and never hit a wall in that regard. Masteries are supposed to replace levels after all and levels aren’t account bound so masteries would in theory be as fast as normal leveling to unlock if they were account bound. Oh and usable with tombs and other exp items as I have way to many of those as it is.

People used to post those recommendations all the time on these forums but just because people stopped here doesn’t mean those flames died down on the rest of the internet.

Unbound magic and others

LS3 currency (unbound and “all the other map currency stuff”) has the following uses:

  • Easiest method to gain ascended trinkets & back items, especially with HoT stats.
  • Various minis, tonics, skins, etc.
  • Portal scrolls to the relevant map, plus home instance nodes.
  • Magic-Warped Bundles and Packets — these are the ones mentioned by Zealex.

You forgot the permanent map wide buffs Bloodstone Empowerment and Karmic Retribution. Then again those only existed for the first three maps and I don’t think Lake Doric has anything like those so maybe Anet decided to scrap that mechanic.

Mystic Coin needs more supply

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

ArenaNet has already confirmed that supply is outpacing demand. The issue is that you don’t want to wait or buy them.

Arena Net can say whatever they want it however it doesn’t mean we have to take it for face value.

There is no doubt that demand is much much higher than the actual supply because demand doesn’t necessarily mean the products that are currently on the market. ArenaNet keeps on adding more and more items that require more and more Mystic Coins without providing a proper source of supply to match. This causes the demand to maintain a level high enough to entice massive hoarding of the coins. People hoard the coins because at any moment Anet can release another infusion or weapon skin that requires hundreds of coins to create and they know they’ll never be able to easily recuperate those coins. They also nerfed the acquisition of Mystic Clovers and at a 30% drop for a single cover many of the coins are simply being flushed

This is a game of hoarding and this hoarding is fueled by the demand and expectation there are people right now hoarding items for the next S3 release. The supply of coins in this game are seiged up and the only way to unlock that gate to unleash a free flowing material is to add a reliable farming method. Such that a person can sell their stock and not worry to much about being short when anet adds another huge coin sink. Coins being as low as 25-35s would probably be a good price to get the flow but at these high prices it just promotes further hoarding.

Water Dragon ''Bubbles'' will never come?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Doam.8305

underwater content was a selling point for Gw2 in the year 2012 it was unique with only very few other MMO’s taking in such a feature. WoW had it of course and they continue to add aquatic segments to this very day.

However people wanted two things that being to have all their skills usable in an underwater setting in some capacity and for underwater weapons to be balanced with the other classes.

Neither of those two things were addressed and instead they removed underwater from the PvP lobby and removed an entire PvP with no replacement for years. The reasoning was most likely Esports during that time they were making their Esport push and constricting the game things like Antitoxin Spray simply vanished during those months. Underwater combat is difficult for esport viewers to watch and like some of our skill animations it got the boot in the name of esports.

GW2 may have finally been booted from the ESL but they haven’t shown any sign whatsoever of undoing those changes and instead of twisting the game for esports are twisting our classes more into trinity based professions to suit raids. Personally I’d think an underwater raid would be amazing but it will never happen and if it can’t be used to promote raids then it’ll be brushed over again.

Underwater seems to only exist these days because the map is already been designed with water on it they even went as far as to drain Lake Doric. So with all this and including underwater weapons were the first to be canned both with Blk lion ticket weapons and then the first legendaries to be cancelled. They also never bothered with masteries r even giving the revenant a second underwater weapon thus I’d have to agree the water dragon will more than likely never come. If he does come he won’t be a water dragon they’ll probably show a tidal wave destroying LA again then make up some excuse for the Dragon to come unto land then make the quaggan, largos, krait, karka, and other aquatic races also come unto land as well. They might even just write the dragon off saying he absorbed all the other dragons or absorbed by another dragon turning into something else so Anet would continue to neglect water.

In this day an age other MMO’s have adopted underwater content too so it’s no longer a special thing to GW2. It sold games and got people excited at launch and then it was forgotten so other MMO’s decided to cash in and provide underwater zones for themselves. People say underwater in Gw2 is bad these days because the content is completely neglected what you don’t see is a slew of complaints from other games that have actually took GW2 idea and supported it.

Mesmer elite skills redesign

in Mesmer

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

@Doam – What changes would you make, or what elite would you want, to give us what you consider a good condi build elite skill?

Sorry for the long reply but do remember how glamours worked prior to the elite specs?

Glamours could be trained back then to apply random conditions to any enemy within for the duration. That was fine for me these days glamours are traited for super speed and resistance which doesn’t make sense for me. You want to target your enemy with a glamour in order to strip boons or reflect like targeting the fingers during teq, VW in Silverwastes, or the eyes in Arah. So people are usually to far from my targets to get any sort of buff.

But more or less an elite that takes advantage of the condition damage/condition points on your toon that’s mindful of how or primary conditions torment and confusion work better with an able and moving target.

For instance what if we had an elite that that used that old school Final Fantasy condition “Beserk.” The target would glow red, taunted, and all their skills aside the auto attack would be blacked out while the auto attack skill itself would hit harder, have a higher chance of missing, and be able to be used more often by increasing speed and reducing cd. This would send any stacks of confusion on the target into overdrive since they’d be constantly swinging and since auto attack is usually a Melee skill they’d have to close the gap meaning torment would tic harder with all that extra movement too. The Beserk condition would stack with our condi duration and increase the effectiveness of our other conditions. It’s just one idea I have for a condi elite but there are easier things they could do.

This is Anet

While it sounds great to give people SAB year round or even just more events per year seeing how their are literally people who log in just for this event alone. They’d only need to toss in some SAB styled crafting station and vendors in the lobby so people can also us it as a pass area thus keepign the are populated and those people will assist other in their SAB runs from time to time.

The issue from Anets side of things even if people paid for this feature is that constantly seeing SAB is a constant reminder that it is incomplete. Anet really doesn’t respond to all the people asking about W3 or W4 they just load the cash shop up with more SAB items. No doubt they’ll release the SAB sickle and pick next year since they released the axe this year. It would be a year long reminder of people staring at the W3 and W4 buildings and people trying to get Anet to put additional work into SAB which will go as well as the WvW crowd trying to get Anets attention. In the end it will lead to SAB becoming a toxic community due to neglect and no longer having that slim chance of hope that maybe content would come around April 1st since SAB would be open year round.

Why mesmer weapons are so wimpy?

Staff, GS, Scepter, Torch, Focus, Pistol, and Shield – Ranged Weapons
Sword – Melee weapon

Not a whole lot of choice there all the examples you listed are melee oriented and Mesmers have but one option for that the sword. I feel some of the ranged weapons would stand out more if we also had some melee options. Also I agree staff and scepter are indeed boring but I use that combo for PvP and it works well enough.

Oh and as a further tid bit every class other than mesmer has additional options for melee even the engineer has the bomb kit to go with their hammer, shroud with a necros daggers, or conjures with an elementalists daggers as well. The mesmer is out in the dust on this one. The playstyle is keep your distance unless your using the sword and thus Scepter feels extremely boring to use because your not changing up the playstyle as you would if you swapped to the more exciting sword instead.

In the end its kinda sad the so called duelist class doesn’t have more melee options or even a mainhand pistol.

next class weapon you want and why

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Every single class has at least two melee options even the engineer has bomb kits and hammer and the elementalist has conjured weapons to go with their daggers.

The exception to this is the Mesmer the have mainhand sword and only mainhand sword no utilities to offer other options or anything. So without a doubt the Mesmer needs a secondary melee option and sure axe, daggers, or mace can fill this roll the mesmer had an offhand weapon last time and that’s a mere two skills so I think they deserve a two hand weapon.

Hammer, Scythe, or Great Axe as long as its a two handed weapon, new type to the class so it gets more legendary weapon options, and melee oriented I’m good.

Gen 3 legendary weapons?

As stated above generation 2 isn’t even done yet

Announcing the next expansion without completing the second generation legendaries would be like giving every troll, naysayer, reviewer, and clickbait article a knife and a fork to tear into the game. Perception matters and its too soon to be discussing an third gen legends or even an expansion.

But if if I was going to discuss 3rd gen legionaries I’d say they should be plain mundane looking weapons. No visual effects such as football and all of them one singular set of weapons like the sets you see in exchange for blk lion tickets. The only ability would be changeable stats akin to a legendary.

The reason for this is because in Gw1 with Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and I think EotN you were rewarded a legendary weapon for completing the game. In core Gw2 we were awarded a choice of a pact weapon however in HoT we were awarded a pat on the head and told to get lost. So I’d like a return to the GW1 still of a basic legendary awarded for beating the big bad at the end of the story arc.

cough cough caladbolg cough cough

Maybe if it was a full setshipped off with the HoT content

Calabolg is part of the Current Event reward system an not a reward for killing Mordremoth. Launching post LS3 events it has its own seperate quest line and its own requirements. Not to mention the fact its a choice of less than half the available weapon types. All the weapon sets I mentioned were rewards for killing the big bad.

Heck there are some very nice current event rewards including the Destroyer Scythe and other things. Calabolg is akin to those other current event rewards. I mentioned the destroyer scythe because you get one primordious weapon for completing the chain then collect them all to get the scythe. You also get one calabolg weapon for completing the chain then collecting them all unlocks the Origins skin.

If anything a Calabolg set would have made so much more sense as a victory weapon set for Zhaitian because the sword plays a role in regards to Zhatians story not Mordremoths. You even go to Orr not HoT to get the weapon.

Guild Wars 1 had ectoplasm

World of Warcraft had Orb of Mystery

I don’t think GW2 has a stable item to use as that as things will change drastically with a simple patch like how AB MM affected ecto prices. Mystic Coins might work but with all the uses they keep adding their eventually going to add a new way to increase supply.

Chalk Egg Sac sits at the TP cap so people might be using that to go over the character and storage gold limits but that’s for the 1% since that costs 10,000g. Less people doing TD meta and no Chak in these maps means it should keep its value.

How about a reddit link as everyone loves numbers

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/63f85n/data_salvage_results_of_7700_bloodstonewarped/

This guy salvaged tons of bloodstone hides from the so called leather farm and recorded his results.

In the end a full stack of blood hides doesn’t even give enough leather to make a single exotic insignia and that there is a higher salvage of the overabundant leather and not the one with the sky rocketing prices.

The leather farm is a farce people abandoned other farming areas to go to the so called leather farming spot. In the old methods you’d farm all sorts of additional material in addition to the leather in the new one your basically farming nothing but hides with few other pieces. You couple farmers bringing in less leather with the new farming spot in addition to the death of AB Meta and all the salgae materials those people brought into the market. Then your left with the current situation of rising prices that will only get worse as time goes on.

They announce an expac now and it’s dead in the water

Reviewers, players, and on lookers will know or hear about the fact that the last expansion didn’t keep all its promises. Thus no one would have any reason to beleive anything they said regarding the new one. This would be easy fodder for rage reviewers and any critics of the game the bad word of mouth would spread much faster than any ad they could put out.

It’s simply a bad idea all around to announce an expac before releasing the full set of legendaries. They’d basically be offering hefty bait for every troll, competing shill, and click bait reviewer to rip the announcement apart. Including others wouldn’t trust anything they promise regarding the next expansion the game would boil down to a few knights and F2p players with no doubt less sales than HoT. HoT came in on a wave of good will the next expac would have a level of negative press the first expac never had to deal with.

Mesmer elite skills redesign

Doam.8305

Mesmers have the worst elites of the bunch

First of there is zero elite that ties into condition damage

Time Warp and Mass Invis are group skills that are outclassed by other classes (Guardian/Thief)and don’t bring anything of value to solo pve where your task is to kill mobs. Time Warp was so bad it even got bumped up to target ten people but even then not everyone wants an etheral field under them.

Gravity Well does DPS but its primary is CC and gathering your mobs it provides 3 seconds of CC that’s 3 seconds of no attacking or moving so Gravity Well shouldn’t even be used with a condition or Torment build its counterproductive.

Moa creates a lopsided PVP situation all those Mesmer nerfs early on were based around this skill being basically a insta KO in PvP. Its only purpose in PVE is in regards to breakbar and not every mob has a breakbar and its effects vary widly on the top of mob your against.

These elites are the reason you see countless Mesmers and other classes such as Necro and Ranger falling back on racial elites because they do direct damage. They’ll clear the camp in WvW, kill the vets in PVE, and assist in quickly removing trash mobs.

I don’t agree with the idea of using trib tokens as a means to purchase Kaiser or Crimson skins, though. I think those skins have enough “prestige” associated with them as it is, and that prestige would be pretty significantly lessened by the ability to simply farm them via trib tokens. I might be going out on a limb here, but I think most of the players who desire an alternate use for these tokens are able to effectively speedrun tribulation zones fast enough that they’d be able to farm the remaining Kaiser/Crimson skins within one festival season. These skins should take much longer to acquire, in my opinion.

That said, I’d still love for an alternate use for them. I think even a small amount of baubles or furniture coins would be fair. I’d be perfectly happy to be able to trade the tokens in a 1:1 exchange rate for furniture coins—this would value each trib token at 25 baubles each. That may not seem like much, but when you’re farming tribulation zones for baubles, an extra 25 baubles per zone will add up really quickly. Since world 2 is more challenging (or more time consuming, at the very least), perhaps world 2 tokens could be exchanged at a 1:2 rate for coins, valuing world 2 tokens at 50 baubles each. Just an idea.

I completely disagree the prestigious weapons are the King Toad and the Storm Wizard weapons you have to complete a full run of tribulation mode to get them after all per weapon. The Kaiser and Crimson are awarded just for logging in and doing three dailies that can be completed in infantile mode. Nothing prestigious about that at all it would be like adding a weapon set unlocked by completing 8 days worth of regular daily metas.

The reason why storm and toad are looked down upon is due to all the sold trib runs last year as people literally just bought them like the blue set. None of the weapons really carry any weight and it would require a world 3 and 4 which prevented paid trib runs from the very start to get a set people would admire. So I see no reason why trib coins couldn’t be used to help acquire the red/orange/blue skins.

Actually the only daily you can do in infantile mode i believe is the interior design and maybe adventuring, the digging ones etc dont count.

Digging only fails to complete because they nerfed dig spots so you don’t get enough for a chest. Pretty sure environmental and locksmith works too in addition to interior however you have to buy the keys in infantile mode. If I’m short on time I’ll complete some on infantile and bail out of the stage after I get it but usually I run normal because of the glorious chest at the end.

If we get it and I’m sure the game initially planned on tengu and dwarf since those map areas are still blank then they should cram them full of tutorials.

Tutorials for dodging, breakbars, combo fields, and I mean each type of combo field. More detailed information regarding stats and the usage of environmental weapons. Oh and unless I’m wrong dodge jumping is a requirement for SAB 2-3 in regards to collecting all the baubles as I know I had to do it. So toss in a dodge roll tutorial and a tutorial regarding underwater combat and the breathing mask replacing your helm.

Remove the Trib mode from Decor Achievement!

The Decor achieve only needs world 1-1 in tribulation for the HoT HoT HoT Furniture Shop.

I got it myself but I can see why and also agree it shouldn’t be a requirement as I find tribulation mode to contain way to much rng for my liking. By RNG I mean those jumping rocks in 1-1 you have to run down that corridor full of rocks and it all feels like luck. I can jump and move and even if I’m already over the next section I’ll sometimes get knockdown and fall to my death due to rocks I’m no where near.

If it wasn’t for that one section I’d say leave it as is but normal players shouldn’t be forced into trib for that achieve the tribulation achieves are kept separate after all. At most if you want to keep Trib as part of the requirement then move the achieve over with the other tribulation achievements.

Doubt SAB will get world 3 and 4 now

This topic has been said countless times prior and there is an easier way to reason that W3 and W4 will never come other than some color order.

Go into SAB and look at the world maps and all the worlds you’ve been prior the red path of progress from the start up to the storm cliffs and down to the robbers area. Then look at what awaits us in W3 and even the title of the next zone called sparkling POOLS.

W3 is underwater content and at this point everyone knows how Anet feels about water/underwater content.

what if we can zerg in sab

They all still have to make it to the checkpoint and things would scale plus infinite coin would probably be a requirement.

Skills are locked so a Zerg wouldn’t break anything the only thing that could break SAB I think is if Mesmers were allowed to use there skills. Teleporting through dart traps, porting players to checkpoints, reflecting icicles, swiftness/superspeed, and clones to redirect mobs..

Red SAB weapons... future of W3&4?

Every MMO and every game dev is known for something and Anet/GW2 is known in MMO circles are known for it following through. The peter molyneux of the MMO world this is the image GW2 carved out for itself and it’s the image people hear about when comparing Anet to other devs because it consistency is way beyond normal.

Heck the second red weapons were announced doom and gloom hit across this forum and Reddit because the player base is well condition to expect the worst.

Umm, have you even heard of Brad Mcquaid, the guy behind the original everquest, vanguard: saga of heroes and who is now developing pantheon: rise of the fallen?
Yeah, that guy has a FAR worse reputation than GW2 could ever hope to attain even if the developers actively broke the game.

Does GW2 not keep promises? Sure, I’ll agree to that. I’ve personally been burned by a couple of their promises, everyone has. But again, that’s not unique to GW2, by far. Have you HEARD the complaints from vanilla WoW fans? Maybe even fans that go as far as Wrath? Not keeping promises is so prevalent in MMOs specifically because of how long the development time usually lasts when compared to non-online-consistent games. Calling ArenaNet the ‘peter molyneux’ of MMOs is so blatantly false when brad mcquaid holds the reputation that he does.

As for the topic at hand, I hope that the devs eventually get to making world 3 and 4, maybe not for personal reasons (I didn’t really enjoy it but i’d be willing to try it again), but they started out with an idea, I hope they finish it. They’ve been good with tying up a few loose threads recently, so hopefully this will be one tackled in the future.

It’s what Anet is known for and it’s a blanket statement for the developer not the individual so you could replace peter with brad and it will be the same thing. Reputation is also current to the MMO map games like WoW, FF14, BD, BNS, and so forth all have negative things they are known for and will be remembered. You, me, and many people have been burned this merely the reputation that Anet has fostered for itself over four years.

Also W3 would be nice but looking at the world map W3 has lots of water including underwater segments from that flooded portion on the world map and we all know Anets current stance on water. I hope it gets done but if it doesn’t then that would be cruel the HuB has houses that show new players that W3 and W4 exist. The world map shows the areas the story will be forever incomplete in regards to saving the princess and that door and odd thing behind will forever be locked without the glove power up not to mention the missing heart piece. Everything about SAB screams to new players that the story continues and leaving it in this state isn’t good.

SAB PvP/WvW Reward Track is disappointing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Doam.8305

Even if it was a better reward why in the world would you be in wvw or pvp instead of SAB!?!?

These rewards tracks aren’t for the players already engaging in the events be it wintersday or halloween they are for players in other modes to be aware of the events and thus the primary purpose of these reward tracks is to increase participation.

Even the Blue Skin at the end is for this sole purpose because that will reduce the demnd on blue skins in the TP thus making them cheaper and easier to aquire. The people who use these skins are walking advertisments for the mode as well. That single bauble for completion can only be spent in one spot so pvp/wvw players will natural be pulled to Moto and more than likely enter the box to see what its about. From Reward Track, to Moto, to inside the box, and finally purchasing SAB items on the cash shop.

Your better off in SAB because its designed that way to make a cheap easily acquired item(blue tier) and to get new players into SAB.

I’m not sure where the argument “SAB is more popular than raids, look at the numbers” comes from
I mean, it would be the other way around if SAB was permanent content, and raid wings were only open for 3 weeks a year. Then you’d use the same argument to cover up raids.

Raids are new and naturally have the smallest base because of it

It’s the natural order when anything is new for instance the Revenant is the newest class and you may see other revenants but their the least played class. This is due to the reason that people have had established mains prior and its harder to get people to move once their established. The raiders I know have never left their primary mode they raid to get legendary armor for collection and to make their modes more fluid. People have had their prefered mode and the new people who dedicate themselves to raids are still fledglings. Anet doesn’t support Raids right now because its some big deal they support it so that it can grow and compete with the other modes.

SAB is older and has an established base with multiple dedicated SAB related items in the cash shop with new items added all the time. We still have another mini trio it seems to be released and some other items which will no doubt be in the cash shop that have been datamined. SAB is the second most advertised mode in this game aside the whole esport push in addition its been tied into the main story of the game with moto and his handywork.

People don’t change on a dime and raids are too new a mode to mean anything right now so debating whether SAB has a bigger fan base or not is just a simple attempt to change the topic at hand. Raids haven’t even gotten over the biggest threat to their survival yet the release of legendary armor. Only after that hits will people start earnestly talking about the popularity and future of raids so there is no point trying to compare it to other older more established modes in the game. SAB community is strong enough for them to actually create new gliding animations the cash shop speaks loudly about its popularity.

You hear more people talked about and using SAB cash shop items than you do other sets. Heck I own the infinite continue coin and me and others went into WVW for the sole purpose of getting stacks of WVW potions for the reward track.

SAB is an event that probably has a larger following than raids mainly since raids are still new.

SAB unlike Halloween and Christmas has cash shop items dedicated to SAB the gliders for Halloween and Christmas are universal and can be used with an assortment of different themes. There is no santa glider or mad king glider but there are two dedicated SAB gliders whose theme can’t be used for anything else except SAB. So Anet knows SAB is a money maker. So it’s expansion would only make sense at this point.

I found a definition of Anet in a dictionary and it means ‘to not follow through with plans’

That definition applies to every business that’s ever operated, to one degree or another. Plans change, resources change, outlooks change, needs change, statistics change, etc.

Every MMO and every game dev is known for something and Anet/GW2 is known in MMO circles are known for it following through. [Suggestions] Daily Rewards Revamp

You think that all these people logging in at reset for daily rewards can be moved around to help with population.

However all those people logging in just for daily will probably not loggin at all if the rewards are removed. Dailies make the a game a routine and those people will only be active for those rewards but will truly start playign again when there is new content. When we get a new map then the people play normally and after thats faded they return to rewards.

Gw2 is fairly active during down times and drought due to those rewards and nerfing them would just make the game a bone dry landscape and even fewer people would return to check out the new maps.

Just to be clear: FF14 and square enix live off of their big names, NOT by their actual quality. Else, FF14 would be €1 / month because the €60 for the game or expansion is only worth it. All the other stuff inbetween is Ca-Ching for something else.

Oh definitely.

But that was sort-of my point: Even in FF14, it works better. You don’t really need to search for a long time to find evidence of how the moneymaking scheme of GW2 doesn’t seem to be working out all that well.

Of course, that being said, I get what I pay for, and per-money-spent, GW2 has tremendous value. Just so long as you don’t entirely overdo the time you spend on it (because then you run into issues with the lack of manpower available for continued development), it works fine for the money it asks of you.

Also for the sub cost i hear the raiding content they provide is superb. About the sub fee idk at times i feel it would make gw2 a thousant times better, but then again the lack of it is what drew me in. Oh and wvw (~hello darlness my old friend~ ;-;).

Then again ESO’s business model could work just as well but both are big steps few would agree with.

Not arguing but just want to point out that FF14 business model is changing their adopting the exact same thing WoW has done excluding the WoW token. FF 14 will be F2P up to level 35 I think without a time limit on the trial. Considering the fact players can change their classes on the fly they can just get every profession in the game to that cap which will take a good while. I haven’t played FF14 since before they launched the first expansion but their changing and adapting as they go.
