Suggestion: Mounts [Merged]

Game needed mounts and that’s something no one has ever managed to successfully argue against and thus it isn’t truly a dead horse.

However instead of the simply mount system anet instead went with the useless clutter route. Swiftness, SuperSpeed, Traits, Runes, WP(WP are farther apart in HoT), S. Step, Signets, Speed Mushrooms, cosmetic mini mounts, gliding, and much more exist in the game and all of it is a pile of overlapping and useless clutter. Your builds are basically handicapped because many trait or slot for speed for example.

All of that and more that will no doubt happen in the future already exists in this game and it’s all pointless clutter and dev time which can all be given the boot with a simple mount system. More importantly the mount system is even superior to this cluster**** we have today since your not stacking, recasting, and so forth to keep up your speed.

Mounts are too little to late

Lastly if we had mounts then maybe the map desing wouldn’t be tiny little cut of sections and corridors as it currently is in HoT.

GW2 is a BSP with a P2W model

Chronomancer is indeed strickly stronger than a Mesmer as all the other elite specialiazations change the classes core functionality. The chrono however adds on to it for instance shroud was changed for the necro and it’s elite and so forth for the other classes as well. However with the mesmer there is no change and they added the f5 button.

You paid $50 to get a game designed around draining in game gold and materials as fast they can in order to push cash to gold transfers on the cash shop. Everything these days is a gold sink even the older recipes have been modified to for additional gold sink prowess.

Thought you quit.

You are not the community. You do not speak for it. Speak for yourself and understand that the segment of the community that is most unhappy at any given point is naturally the loudest.

I do agree that more communication would be welcomed.

That’s a flawed assessment those who are most unhappy are only vocal when they lack power. However this is a game and not reality and in this sort of environment those who are the most unhappy are in fact silent. Simply put people who complain either complain because they enjoy it or they complain to improve because they see the tide. People complaining for 3 years for mounts, templates, and hardcore content can be ignored they are not the majority and they will never leave.

Those who remain silent leave they log out or simply play less and thus even though they didn’t say a word in a sense there voices are the loudest. This is a product in a capitalistic society and we are consumers it’s not our place to be patient or adapt the burden is on the producer because we all have the power to simply quit and find a product that suits our needs.

Anet isn’t communicating and the voice of those whom have never spoken a single word can be heard in all aspects of the game currently.

Why can't I level my masteries anywhere?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Doam.8305

You don’t need HoT masteries anywhere outside of HoT content.

And because of it I need to level them in those maps?

Yes. You level the relevant masteries doing the content that requires them.

The Pact is in HoT infact the entirety of HoT revolves around the Pact so if relevancy was important why can’t a person level Pact mastery while doing official Pact business while in HoT maps!? You are the Pact commander after all.

Exp is exp and relevant of not it matters little as people don’t want the removal of the gates for themselves but rather they see these gates as the future death of this game. Been in enough MMO’s to know the casuals are the lifeblood of any game and once there chased off the game withers and dies. The option of choice would fix many problems with this game as anyone who thinks the HoT maps were difficult could train masteries and have the mushroom and gliding skills to really kitten up the place at the start and thus easing there controls. Out of all the problems with HoT and the complaints giving people the choice to grind exp for masteries where they please wouldn’t only remove some of the constant complaints we see but would lead to a more enjoyable game.

The Sylvari in the Future?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Sylvari will always be the Bond Villian

Also it’s said the Nightmare court listened the voices of the Nightmares with the dream however maybe I’m wrong the sheer fact the Nightmare court had to be captured states that those Nightmare were not Mordremoth and that Mord couldn’t weaken those Nightmares as he did with the mother tree and thus the Nightmare court were captured due to this so he could have more time to convert them.

Also they pretty much killed off all the Soundless stating they had less defenses against Mord than other Sylvari since they cut off all ties from either the Mother Tree or the nightmares. However if they can force those voices out why wouldn’t they have the strongest resistance?

Blighted Tree and even that big ol’ thing the mouth of Mord wrapped around could have been Mallyx’s tree as I just don’t see them going anywhere near the Mallyx story and I figured they’d kill that off just like the Soundless.

If anything it will get pulled back to Scarlet and they’ll keep using Sylvari as the eternal Bond villian until this game finally goes under.

Are you just gonna ignore the fact that HoT maps are way bigger and pact than core game maps, tons of new features? Also tell me on MMORPG that offers the same amount of content in expansion compare to core game with same price, HoT has so much content compare to wow expansion(first patch of course), FF14 expansion(weekly/daily dungeon token gate).

Your blinkered GW2 fanboism is legendary round here but please stop posting blatant lies about other games in order to try to sustain it.

HOT is no bigger than the expansions for the games you cite, in any way whatsoever!

Exactly the so called upper and lower levels for all the maps are only partially used at all. In VB for instance the bottom level is covered in the traditional bottomless pits you usually find in platformers and the upper areas are just a few plots of walk able terrain with the rest being open sky. Not to mention the main part of it is pockmarked with holes granting access to the upper and lower levels which makes for a great deal of corridor sections.

Also since he brought up other games these HoT maps didn’t even come with Hearts or dungeons and patching in the raids weeks later just made things worse since a quarter of the map is LFR. Furthermore other games typically come with 6-8 maps with there expansions.

You kind of even get the feeling that Anet spent more time showboating this game at all those gameshows all summer than actually working on the game. All we had all summer was check out Hot at this "gaming related event or watch this video that cost time and money to produce to showcase content and waste money instead of a simple text based post like other games. No content for Gw2 all summer so they could prepare there speeches and presentation to build up hype just to pull it over on the unsuspected masses.

That mega server is broken talk is so much bs dungeons empty wvwvw empty new maps empty but somehow more people are playing yea right….

Pretty much Megaserver was a way to mask shrinking numbers as prior ever single server had there own individual maps and events. You had to guest to other servers back then to even complete the most basic of events and during lving season people would always bum rush one of the 3 only truly active servers and I usually went to Blackgate.

With Mega server what used to be 10+ maps of lets say Kessex hills is now only a single map and when that map is full it creates an overflow amp. There are 24 US servers and that used to be 24 map instances the only accurate gauge to your servers population is core WvW however my WvW server like many others is dead. I’m also rather sure the reason they don’t inclusde district travel is because then people will know how many instances of a particular map exists and thus they’d get an estimate of how active.

Are you joking? Then please explain 10+ overflow for AB and DS and mega server telling you the map is empty while I zerging with hundreds of people.

Explained it in another post however you brought up AB and people don’t do TD because the failure rate of Chak G. is to high. They also don’t do VB because it’s a LFR map now and the DS takes a commitment to time. AB is the only viable choice and even then most people have returned to the core maps. Also how do you know the overflow count!?!?!?!?!

Why would people play dungeon if not for reward or achivement? they are boring snooze fest in the first place and people only run them because of unbalanced reward.
Wvw is broken as hell so why would peolle be playing them. If mega server is not broken then can you explain why is there more than 10 Dragon Stand overflow at a time? Also a few days ago GW2 got 10k viewers on twitch and usually we only get 3k, so 7 k people just randomly decided they want watch pvp now right?

Did you seriously just attempt to use twitch to get an accurate sense of player population!? The sheer fact you had to resort to that is proof enough of desperation. Furthermore this game lacks districts so If you’d like to share how you know 10 instances of DS existed then please I’m all ears. However if you say you based this off of 10 separate LFG requests for DS than that too is desperation. DS is every two hours and every two hours just prior to the reset and right after the reset the calls for taxi go out and those ten request will literally come from a single map. There is usually one active org DS and a hobbled together map that gets organized as it goes.

Even SW is being completed with less than a full map these days as a simple check of LFG and you can always find a spot for VW. In the day maps used to get full at the 70% mark and this is bad because the vast majority of request remain SW as the reward system in HoT is so poor people have returned to SW and DS to farm for loot.

For crying out loud… you all forget that we don’t have to pay a dime but the initial price! While MMORPGs like WoW pay 15$ every month and they don’t get much more content than us in their expansions. While we will continuously get more and more FREE content + progressive story. Oh and please don’t go with the “but the gem store waa-waa-waa” you can buy gems with gold and its not that expensive.

LOL yea sure dude http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Patcheshttp://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Patches

These fanboys are so blind i dont even understand anymore i mean i would never compare wow to gw2 content because in wow i pay a monthly sub so there must be more content (even though WOD was a bit lackluster with new content) but still you can not compare WOD with HOT like never!

Ps: Heavensward Expansion http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Heavensward

Yeah lets not try to compare Guild Wars to Guild Wars like everyone was doing but that would be difficult so everyone tries to derail the topic to other games with monthly subs>

Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North, Winds of Change, and those Mission pack deal…

The problem for everyone is GW2 isn’t GW1 so many of those people quit and in the exact same vein HoT is not Gw2 so GW2 peeps are also quitting. Like Wildstar and all those other MMO’s that dissipated into the dust of time this game is going through the exact same process and the posts are identical. The gating the lack of communication the catering to spineless masses who have done nothing but QQ for three years. If a person has sat there and complained for three years there not going to be quitting the game ever… The others though those who don’t complain and liked what we had for three years they will leave. The amount of content in HoT isn’t even half of what we got in any of the GW1 expacs and back then they didn’t even have a cash shop to bring in extra cash with in game skins well at least not till EyE anyway and I suppose they did sell expacs and character slots prior..

Seriously!?
Anet says “can’t have your weapon unless you play pin the tail on the donkey. Can’t have your mastery point unless you make a ring around the bottle.”

The roleplayers must be having fits with these things.

Here they are, in the midst of a grand adventure to explore a new region of the world and save some of their compatriots from Mordremoth. They delve deeper into the jungle, threats behind every vine and then…wait….is that a shooting gallery? Someone set up a shooting gallery in the middle of a war zone? How does that make any sense…I just don’t…wow

The shooting gallery isn’t actualyl breaking the lore too much – people must learn to shoot somewhere, don’t they?

But transforming into a mushroom and doing a race by bouncing on your cap?

Lets use these spare parts to set up a race/obstacle track and race mini tanks to get the best time guys Mordremoth can wait this is important!!

While true I think the bigger problem is mastery gating

You have to grind those maps for exp to raise your masteries so even if you start to feel burned out you have to remain in order to raise the HoT masteries. When teh masteries are maxed people will turn away and never come back because there burned out.

You can tell people to do something else so they don’t get burned out but Masteries replace levels in HoT and all those people with 100+numbers for display are no different in the overall community interaction than actual levels. We already judge people based on class, prefix(Zerk), and AP so Mastery rank is a no brainer for whats next for the future so people will grind and grind till they utterly despise those events.

Heck I’m already sick tired of DS but I do it since it’s the most consistent Meta and a stream of exp for masteries. None of the rewards for any of these events are high enough to get me to stick around after I fill my masteries and map those maps.

Future expansions need more armour!

The game went F2P before HoT and HoT was designed with that model in mind. You may have paid $50-100 but they’ve released more skins day one than new lootable skins. By new lootable skins I mean the classic drop from monsters both standard mobs and bosses. Spend $50 only to be reminded you need to buy skins if you want anything decent or grind for a 100 hours just to get something merely cosmetic without and substantial value.

Heck the only reward worth anything in the game is Modrem Saber and good luck with that as even though it was well near 900g on the TP no one wants the thing and thus it’s price has plummeted down near 700g and will continue to plummet as more and more people manage to farm the thing and chuck it on the TP.

Even if it was ugly and generic I would have at least preferred they added an armor set for light/med/heavy that dropped as loot from mobs as this is the first expac I’ve ever played where I don’t see the point of loot.

What needs changing in HoT areas

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Speed Mushrooms granted earlier and in addition Speed Mushrooms grants a couple seconds of stealth in the Mastery as casuals wouldn’t have to complain about difficult mobs that much if they had a mount like deal where they could simply run past them. Also no Gliders don’t count for this as this isn’t Aion where you can skip and hop across the ground through mobs.

Reduce poison damage as some people simply want to explore a map first which is impossible when they hit walls like poison so something that can at least heal through will be helpful to them.

Ascended rewards in HoT maps as this goes into improving the reward system which is different than basic loot. Many people are already wearing ascended for instance I have full ascended with the exception of my water breather which I’ll get to whenever it’s actually needed for something. So getting a rare exotic drop unless it’s a pre doesn’t really do much and with an ascended rare drop like with Teq I can at least chuck it on an alt and feel like I’ve been rewarded with something I’ll actually use.

Guild Halls removed from World Map and added to the Mists like WvW and PvP

Raids have zones I can see them on the map so let the Raid entrance exist in the raid zone and LFR can be done in that very zone freeing up the map.

Nerf mobs and what not that exist on the main story path cut through the maps so casuals can traverse easier.

Add an additional Map with greater rewards than either of the existing four maps but have an increased mob density and mob difficulty present on this map to compensate.

Loot is horrible in HoT so either increase Key drops on HoT maps or since there were noble ships in the area let mobs have a chance to drop ticket scraps. There merely needs to be superior drops from mobs and more than merely the reclaimed set.

LFR option in LFG window

Lower Mastery exp costs by a substantial amount and then remove the account wide mastery and make it individual. The exp amount needed is too high and it’s obviously designed to be that way due to it being account bound. However not only is it an undo burden to people with a single main but it takes all the fun out of the altoholics as well as soon as there alt hits 80 there done and have all there masteries they never get to play and unlock masteries again for the rest of there game and these altoholics will get bored and leave.

Return Core maps back to the original loot tables and rewards systems this includes Dungeons.

Give up on E-sports and besides I don’t consider something in which the overlaying world is programmed by a developer to be a sport anyway. A sport shouldn’t be broken and twisted on a developers whims or new characters and constant balancing. Hell balancing a character in these so called E-sports should disqualify those who exploited the system which you don’t have in the real world of earth and sunlight sports. Well besides drugs but that’s more of a hack there isn’t programming error though so no more forcing e-sport balance patches on the rest of us.

For three years this game survived and people have complained but those people complained for 3 whole years and obviously have no will of there own so why cave to them in HoT they’d never leave to begin with. However these changes have let those who are willing to leave the game those who liked the way the game was to pack up and ship out. I like the difficulty but even I know these so called hardcore elitist aren’t hardcore elitist at all or they’d simply find a game tailor made for it and thus they’d never leave the game anyway and remain and complain to casuals nonstop because there is no spine to simple move. The population dips is because you’ve upset real people who understand capitalism and how the world of the consumer and the product actually work.

God I love that dive point… cries….

Also as I Mesmer I can literally just cast portal if I’m afraid I’ll miss a jump I’ll just port myself back to where I was last located. There is no restarting a JP as a Mesmer just steady progression. So with that in mind I don’t think any puzzle is broken at all and even in aggro I can make the jumps and there easy enough to kill with range.

My main is Mesmer but if you really can’t beat Not So Secret make a Mesmer not because it makes the JP any easier but with portal your not punished for mistakes and thus it leads to a safer and smoother run. Just everytime you come to a tricky spot lay a portal and then you can come back and complain about the diving spot because even though I got it it’s a pain to get and that one rock face should really be flattened out.

What ascended drops are in HoT to begin with!?

The reward system is cr** so yes adding a better reward system even after nerfing the reward system in the core game would make these maps more appealing. Currently to many people are still upset about dungeon nerfs, higher recipie costs, and even all teh joy and happiness of killing Teq is gone because you can’t shout “SPOON!!!” for a broken Spoon it just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

I’d say they would increase the rewards but seeing what they did to core I highly doubt it so TD will no doubt remain and only get worse with time.

Can you imagine TD with a raid entrance!?
Half the already low population on that map would be raiders constantly spamming LFR so in it’s current form it will only get worse. From the last patch and even the last three years I highly doubt Anet takes anything posted on this boards seriously as all the do is merge everything into a small easily ignorable post when certain concerns get to large to get there notice.

Problem is it’s become so much of an issue with people leaving we now have these empty map complaints which will just cause more people to leave down the road who even wished to stay and play.

People unwilling to adapt

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

In general the expectation is that products be designed and adapted to meet the needs and desires of consumers, not the other way around.

That might be true for a kickstarter project. HoT however is not a kickstarter project.

Besides, you can’t please everyone.

What is wrong with today’s world and youth what country could you possibly come from where that isn’t true for every product.

This is capitalism and there isn’t a single instance in this type of system where the consumer is forced to adapt to the wims of the salesman. The burden is on them it isn’t true for a kickstarter but everything this isn’t some socialistic society where people care that a business stays afloat. If they can’t meet the demands of the consumer then it will fail and it in MMO’s that’s an all to common occurrence even now the number one complaint on these forums are empty maps and empty modes because people continue to use there rights to find a product that suits there needs.

Others see this and know it will happen and complain to see if changes will be made because this game requires people and if Anet continues to drop people there won’t be enough people left playing for the rest of us to enjoy the game exactly like those posts complaining about empty, maps, dungeons, events, wvw, and even something as simple as a LFR tool to l shrink the amount of afk raiders waiting for a raid in VB.

People unwilling to adapt

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

It’s not hard to understand also there is nothing more disgusting than making people adapt to a product that’s not how the world or capitalism works.

GW2 existed for 3 years and brought it many new players

It is said that many of the staff left during Season 1 so a shift in the game with new people is only expected. World of Warcraft for instance died or rather is dying by a similar fashion and I’m amazed there are still people that don’t know this but at there 11mill prime around WOTLK the company was purchased by Activision the Call of Duty dev and the internal bits of Blizzard changes drastically and the game has been in a constant spiral of death ever since they became part of Activision and went through a shift though that shift is an extreme example because the first thing they did was release Cata and wipe out the core maps and all nostalgia.

HoT is a shift in the game that doesn’t align itself with the vision or what brought people to GW2 in the first place. This is capitalism and if people don’t like something then they simply go to another product that they do and many of those people went to GW2 over other MMO’s. With HoT those people voiced there concerns and in proper fashion with any product many simply left to find another product that’s more aligned with the initial vision that GW2 laid out. People aren’t supposed to adapt to goods and services nor should they sit around for years hoping for a product to change like these Mount, SAB, or Template people.

If you don’t like the burger then go to a different restaurant and what TC is experiencing is that people don’t like changes to a certain mode so they stopped playing that mode yet didn’t leave the game because there are other modes that exist that they still like to play. You can’t expect people to adapt when they shouldn’t have to adapt it’s Anet job to sell us a product and if they can’t sell us the product then it’s not going to be used even if a few people like it or not.

Look at the forums we used to have tons of complaints and concerns about HoT arrise all the time however nowadays we get “Map drying up” topics as people voiced there concerns at launch and moved on with there lives which is natural and expected.

So what IS the point of precursor crafting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Time
Faster to Farm the Gold than it is to Farm Gold+Mats

Cost
They are literally cheaper to buy on the TP than they cost to craft

Mats
DID YOU REALLY JUST USE ALL THOSE MATS TO CRAFT AN EXOTIC WHEN LEGENDARY?UNIQUE BACKPACKS AND ARMOR EXIST!?!?!?

RNG
Rng is Rng and Rng only exists in the TP for the person who found and placed the pre on the Cash Shop. So if the pre is up for sale on the tp then the rng requirement is set and compared to the RNG involved in the toilet and pre crafting.

Fun
Fun can indeed be gauged and it’s through choice as with many choices there are bound to be methods people prefer. Farming gold can be done many ways and even through gameplay. Farming daily mats is specific and not very many options furthermore this also falls under gold becasue these mats can indeed be sold for gold. So since gold has many more options which include all the options/time/mats/etc that crafting does one could assume it’s moer fun because someone will simply choose one of the many paths they prefer.

Choice
The only reason anyone should ever craft a pre is because they choose to do it simply because it’s there choice to craft it. Crafting doesn’t hold anything over the other methods so it’s nothing more than choice.

the only dead map is td, and that’s only because the meta is too unforgiving for random groups of players

also the absurd delay between the meta starts

I agree with this. I’ve just been in VB and AB. Both were hopping with players.

The TC may have had a bad title but his remarks are all true and having people in VB is meaningless when a full zergs worth of people are afk or waiting for raids and not enganged in the actual map events for Meta.

DS like he said is just a bunch of lemmings running around afraid of a crash and then not being able to return do to the map becoming full. With this last update the instances of crashing in that map went up significantly even with the 16 bit beta as something changed with that last patch.

The raid in VB is only one and there is no doubt the other maps will get raids as well so unless the raids are chucked into the mists like PvP and WvW or added to the guild hall maps then it will always be an issue with this game. Heck I’m even for tossing the entire guild hall into the mists snf keeping it separate like they did in Gw1. Having it physically on the map just proves we will never get GvG and I just don’t see the purpose of halls without GvG.

Turn down the difficulty for Casual Players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Doam.8305

Raids are fine however difficult content should never be part of the core campaign trail in any mmo.

WoW or any MMO you can name the difficult content is not part of the core campaign and is rather found off the beaten trail. However Gw2 has this found on the main trail and having the so called higher level content smack dab in the middle of the path casuals have to take just to see the ending of the story is idiotic. The reason why it exists in this game is because Anet only provided four maps or rather 4 event maps. I don’t mind difficult content and I remain adamant that this game needs a side map with content much more difficult than what we see in HoT and have adequate rewards for that difficulty. But the way it’s set up now is just wrong and it will and even has been nerfed becaue it was a mistake to implement it in that fashion.

As for raids they just need a LFR tool furthermore Mastery level needs to go because for dungeons we already had Zerker, Class, and AP checks and for raids I’m sure there going to start demanding people with over 100 mastery points as well. Makes no sense whatsoever to count Mastery points but that total replaces our level and it’s what people will see and judge.

Fake Difficulty?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Of course it’s fake diffculty

If you want real difficulty then you’d need more trinity elements

Unblockable, unavoidable, and even unforseen damage is a staple of MMO’s but that’s because other MMO’s have the trinity. This game is nothing but DPS so of course its all going to be cheap difficulty. You can’t have something akin to Dark Souls when you have a 50 peep zerg. You can however have it when you funnel people into roles that which can’t be blocked must be healed and that which can’t avoided must be blocked while that which can’t be seen just requires more burn.

Your not reliant on anyone but yourself in this game and that’s what the difficulty has to be capped at which is rather low compared to other games. You can do so much more when a boss demands teamwork and a timer isn’t needed at all when all those avenues are open.

This is gw2 though so cheapness is it as anything that attacks more than you can dodge or wipes people trying to rally an ally instantly becomes cheap but it’s the only way aside HP to make it difficult.

But even with that I fail to see how others cannot see the blatant imbalance and I don’t believe no pro player ever brought up the disadvantages many classes have compared to others, beginning (in this thread with your Ele) with Druid e.g. – that class is a very bad joke.

I don’t understand your comment because the sPvP side of the game that’s relevant to ESL has no gear progression whatsoever. That’s right, your legendary armor and legendary weapons give you zero advantage in PvP. They designed the core game this way and it remains this way in HoT.

Class imbalance not gear imbalance for instance them removing water combat instead of balancing it. Water combat wasn’t balanced at all due to the classes and not the gear. On land not all the skills or class mechanics are balanced and some classes are veritable ghosts in PvP because I cannot recall the last time I actually had to fight a thief in pvp. Also some of the classes aren’t even present in the higher leagues or play either.

When they do try to balance they go overboard just look at the condi builds.

People wanted more difficult content though they wanted it in a form akin to the Underworld, Deep, FoW, Sorrow, or that place in Torments whose name i forget.

However it’s Anet and instead of making a side map and introducing truly difficult content they decided to go with ruining the game for casuals by forcing the entire GW2 community to to march through what was supposed to be the games equivalent of the underworld.

I think these side maps with enhanced difficulty are what we know as “dungeons”.

Personally like the difficulty progression as it makes us think outside the box or at least look for ways to improve as players…. I understand it’s difficult AT FIRST for newer players or casual ones, but an easy end game would be boring to those that reached their caps…. hardship isn’t bad, what’s the point of having something that everybody else has?

The Underworld wasn’t exactly like a dungeon by GW1 standards and it isn’t quite the same by GW2 standards either. Underworld in Gw1 was a map much like the other places I listed however if you’ve never played GW1 then you wouldn’t know all the maps in that game were instanced. We were only connected through towns and cities with other players. You can only have a full party in any GW1 Map do to the nature of them being instanced.

Underworld and the other places were more akin to an event map by GW2 standards sort of like a precursor to what we see in Orr and HoT maps today. The player limit is no longer there and neither are the trinity elements of GW1 but a map of that difficulty would have still been possible but like in GW1 the entrance should have requirements and of course be off the beaten trail of the main campaign.

good thing is HoT is optional you dont have to play it if you dont like it simple as that stick with the core game plenty of content there still.

Old crafting recipes becoming more difficult
Dungeon gold is nerfed no one does them anymore
Blah Blah basically all the stuff I said in my initial post

They basically fire bombed the core game to push people into HoT. I’ll use WoW as an example as in WoW a new expac releases and it’s only the new expac the old content will remain untouched unless a specific quest requires you to return to an NPC in the old maps. In HoT however they didn’t do this at all they changed the core more than any MMO I’ve ever played. We have Masteries, fractals have changed, dungeons have changed, world boss loot has changed, crafting has changed, and even that little number 80 is gone forever.

If you don’t go to HoT and raise that mastery level eventually the elitist nature of this game will kick in and you’ll be looked down upon.

This game has become a much more negative since HoT and the so called best community in MMO currently is dwindling. Also I suppose the only thing to remain unchanged are JP’s from the core game.

People wanted difficult content like Underworld, Deep, FoW, Sorrow, and so forth
Instead they put it on the world map and it’s no wonder why people don’t casually walk through HoT or why some people steer clear of it.

It’s an expansion with no loot aside reclaimed weap set and you can farm mobs for hours and get nothing of value so its no wonder the farmers have left.

The rewards are horrible as in SW you can get the Queen Bee worth 900g and in DT you can get Kites and geodes. Worse offender is DS when it comes to rewards so it’s no wonder those seeking a bounty don’t stay in HoT.

Map completion and Masteries are why people are in HoT and for all those wondering why Masteries are gated to a specific location than this is why because it makes no sense for Pact Mastery not to include maps with official pact business like HoT.

This game has overflows and even the overflows have all dried up these days your lucky to find and org map in Lfg.

Raids will just get worse as they add more in and more HoT maps turn in to LFR zones or simply afk. The sheer fact this expac can’t retain people in it’s zones is proof enough of it being a bust and the main way to fix it is through proper rewards and openeing up greater avenues of choice. However that will no doubt nerf the difficulty of the maps which is bad and part of the reason I was so upset about them making the difficulty a feature of core maps instead of some off the path map.

And so forth

There are many features of GW1 that people have been asking for since launch though Districts are more of a post Megaserver request. The Templates your asking for are a request even older than mounts or SAB. So there really isn’t much of a chance if any that we will ever get templates in this game.

Original LA had an identity and many more nooks and crannies to explore and I’m my book the whole destruction and rebuilding phase did more harm than good as that destroyed state of LA really made the game feel dead and gloomy and I know many people who left during that time.

Auto grouping device?
It’s been three years and this is Anet after all

So I think we simply need an alternative to getting shards, weapons, armors, and sigils

While yes PvP exists it only exists as an alternative to give people choice something GW2 is known for and having one viable option currently messes with that entire thing.

The complaints I’ve heard personally revolve around the shards because a person can go through all the pain of crafting a pre, Gift of Mastery, and Gift of Exploration then be stuck on the weapon gift because they need 500 dungeon shards from a dead dungeon. Then you also have the new people that have to beat the dungeon in the first place to unlock the pvp reward track.

We had choices and alternatives before and this seems like a reasonable request to either open up another path or return incentive to dungeons. Which is rather bull anyway MMO’s typically don’t destroy old content like this in an attempt to force people into the newer stuff. The new stuff should be enough to get people to move out of the old dungeons and into the new but I suppose it says alot about anet that instead of dungeons or even a raid wing on launch day they decided to nerf/destroy bits of the core making it much harder for newer people accomplish the same tasks the vets did with far fewer people..

Nerf Dungeons

Change Fractals

Increase mats for existing recipes

Add mastery system so if you don’t go into HoT everyone will be all zerker only no necro 18kAP and some high 100+ number your never going to reach by sticking to the core maps.

Also nerf Teqs Spoons so even the fun of going “SPOONS!!!” after beating teq wears off

Then flood the forums full of shills to state the core game never changed and that HoT is the best and attack anyone who disagrees or has any issue with HoT whatsoever.

64 bit client or crash constantly but don’t overly advertise the client so many people continue to crash and many events continue to fail as a result.

Then kill HoT by turning all the zones people already have issues with into LFR maps as these sheep love us so much we can do no wrong because we are Anet and we are gods so bow down and worship us and our perfection.

For starters the map would have been much more difficult if it was placed off the beaten track. Even though it’s not a s difficult as it could have been this maps are simply too much for the feel good mmo crowd this game was known for and in fact this community has gotten so much worse since HoT has launched.

I work and have a life and I’ve probably been on these forums more after the launch of HoT than the entire year. HoT isn’t GW2 and GW2 isn’t GW1 the structure and basic feel of the entire game has changed with HoT and with todays patch is obvious that won’t change and Anet has trough out all of its old ideas and promises in favor of what we have today.

Be considerate to casual players you mean the players they have catered to for 3 years casual players have been catered to for so long its the hardcore players turn.

That doesn’t make any sense as in three years those hardcore players have all left ages ago. GW2 lacked true hardcore reputation becuase of three things.

Rally System
Dodge mechanic
Army of ONE

The game is built around Dodge so any class in any gear can kill any mob if they know how to properly dodge though they should be at the proper level. Death penalty is rather non-existant as we have the rally system. Last mobs are made for the individual while in other MMO’s you can easily be overpowered by a mob but your not an army of one so your reliant on others. That doesn’t mean your an army of one it only means mobs are scalled to the group not the individual and these harder mobs can indeed still be defeated solo by an elitist playing at the top of his game.

Gw2 lacked all of that so catering to a non-existant sect will destroy this game tis the go to feel good MMO of choice after all. At least it was prior to HoT though people are still waiting for the major patches to see what changes before making there final judgment.

Though Orr had a Hub many more side events and the Meta wasn’t the only major event going on either for the map. Orr had unique mats while HoT recycles the same metals and wood, Jumping Puzzles, Unique skins, and unique loot from minor events like Quaggan Tonic. Orr had dungeons and the temples to capture as well. The zones had a uniform feel about an army charging to destroy the dragon. Orr was the best place to farm too before later updates as well.

So HoT lacks hearts because it’s a lesser version of Orr.

I still don’t understand how people can miss the point. I’m going to try using small words.

It’s not that people don’t want to work.

It’s that what they had worked for was taken away.

Progress was reset.

This is not rocket surgery.

Everyone who refuses to hear this simply seems to want to make themselves feel superior. If you’d take a moment and actually read what is being said, you’d see that you are countering arguments that very few people are even making.

That’s what this community is.

And if you get annoyed about it, they just dismiss you as a “whiner” who “wants everything now”.

Exactly as what was once a model ideal for what other gaming communities should aspire to has taken a complete 180 with the launch of HoT. Heck it says something when the devs choose to implement something that even WoW got rid off do to it’s destructive effect on the gaming community.
(Referring to Guild bonuses tied to guild rank and how people will refuse to join up and coming smaller friendlier guilds and jump right in the larger mega guilds because those larger guilds have a greater XP/Stat buff. Everyone is removing such features but HoT decides to go full steam in the opposite direction.)

Paragon nothing more nothing less

Though I’d much prefer it if the Paragon had it’s own class as the Revenant is obviously the GW2 equivalent of the Dervish. The Paragon isn’t represented in GW2 which was my main in GW1 it does have one single skill in the entire game that harkens back to it though that being “Virtue of Justice – When activated you and your allies inflict burning with your next attack” other than that nothing comes close to the ol’ paragon.

Echo’s, Chants, and their unique Shouts don’t exist in this game outside of that one Virtue. The shouts do to an extent but the don’t cover all the abilities of the paragon shout and are even named afterGw1 warrior shouts. The mechanics of the Paragon were simple enough..

Chant- Allies in earshot (inflict or do X) with there next attack/spell.
Echo – Whenever a Chant or a Shout ends on an Ally then (X will happen)
Shout – Some existed that shortened rez time for party, less dmg from enemies that had a certain condi, cancel certain types of skills, and so forth like the mesmer it was more detailed stuff and you had to know the enemy your facing and what they can do and when to cast it. Much more detailed/specific/adaptable support than the other support classes.

So either for an elite spec like the TC wanted or its own class my vote would go to Paragon and seeing how Revenant does the whole avatar thing I don’t see why not.

…and still i heard from a lot of people and i am including myself aswell, that they did like the short, more action-based, character of the story. I did get bored a lot by the originial personal story…

Yes, the personal story was bad. But Living Story Season 2 was pretty good, and the HoT story is a step backwards. That’s what I find most disappointing, the regression toward worse story telling.

People paid for Living Story it was only free for a limited amount of time but even if these new people buy Living story 2 its still well worth the price.

HoT campaign last less than 3 hours once you unlock all the mastery gates on a second playthrough. However since it’s the second playthrough not only will the mastery gates be removed but you know the stories so campaign will be more like 2 hours or less for an alt to get through.

Gw2 isn’t Gw1 and HoT isn’t like either of those at all however it was the robust story telling from GW1 that hooked people and that storytelling continued into GW2. We spent $50 for what amounted to just Orr in the original Gw2 but even less than that since Orr provided more branching story paths for its campaign and even a hub of operations. It even surpased in the event maps as event map in HoT beats to a single objective without much of a reward. While Orr has temples to capture and vendors providing ample reward for the effort as well as individual events like zombie chickens. Orr also had many JP’s, dungeons, and diving spots. Orr also had unique armor better drops with t6 mats and even it’s own lootable weapon set. Complete and event you could buy unique items like baby quaggan tonic. People actually stayed and farmed Orr because they wanted too not because they were forced too with some mastery grinding.

I’ve never met anyone who was thrilled with this short story and what makes it worse is even Orr was superior to it and Orr wasn’t a standalone $50 campaign.

I want to play in Dragon stand

Doam.8305

No one is ever in Dragon stand. Any time there is a Organized Dragon stand, it is already full.

Please make changes so that it is more accessible or, remove it from map completion + make it a raid.

Suggestion for change

  • Remove the requirement of minimum players to start the map.

go there literally 10 minutes of the map starting and theres MANY organizing, it goes on all day

Nope you can even get there 30 minutes and still get nothing

What’s going on is obvious the overflows are all gone and the only organized map is the original map.

I’ve waited and people come in and they leave and so foth and when the new map begins its still empty.

The only way to get a map is indeed to head there 10 minutes early but when the time actually starts rush into LFG and get into the one true map as fast as you can before it fills to capacity. This has been my experience for weekdays the weekends might see an overflow or two of organizers however it’s obvious not just here but across the game there are far fewer overflow maps which means there are far fewer people playing.

Heck I sued to be able to string together 3-4 SW meta’s by instantly taxing to another VW after killing and opening the chest. Teq used to have multiple LFG offers when he arose but that has trickled down to a few.

Unless you manage to taxi into that core map of DS your not going to get it done these days. It’s a mixture of less people playing and completely cr** reward system in HoT. In SW you can get the Queen Bee and either use that very unique item or sell it for 100’s of gold while in DT you can get an assortment of kites to drop also the sandstorm mechanic is nicer than anything in HoT the map actually feels a bit more alive. None of the maps in HoT even compare to those too so amidst fewer people playing the remainder goes there instead. The HoT maps don’t even feel like normal Maps anyway the feel exactly like Orr mechanic wise which is part of the problem there are no hearts or quests just barebone exactly like Orr except without the feeling your making your way to a dragon which completely defeats the point. The only reason people are still there is to grind masteries.

The game is called Guild Wars

Basically they want everyone who has guilds of tight nit friends to quit the game also they hate casuals for adding the harder content in the core path of the story rather than some offbeat map like Underworld. The also hate elitists for nerfing dungeons so badly and they hate their white knights for making them go into pure overdrive to try and contain all this mess. New players will have harder crafting recipies to deal with and old vets have noticed that 100-300g commander tag is literally been deemed worthless, Even the veteran CMD that everyone respects are better off tagging down and using a mentor.

I belong to a 400+ guild and I know it’s not for everyone but the game is Guild Wars and the guild hall shouldn’t be any more complicated to achieve than in GW1 or even forming the guild and doing missions in GW2. There purposely going out of there way to destroy the game experience for others in many aspects of the game.

What makes it worse is that so many people are looking down on others in this game the community has literally gone to he** in a handbasket since HoT launched. What was once considered the friendliest and most open MMO has become much more narrow and the community much more bitter as a result. GW2 isn’t like GW1 and HoT isn’t like GW2 or GW1 the death of this game has truly begun.

This post will be ignored as the community continues to tear itself apart as white knights spew and blindly put down any valid concern anyone has while the trolls have taken up pretending to be white knights themselves because the knights are doing more damage than a troll can ever do in this particular instance of the game when many many many valid concerns are being raised.

I’ve been playing less and less and will leave myself in time and while it may seem like a white knight response to tell someone to quit if they don’t like something it is a completely valid response.

Anet isn’t going to listen to not one of these peoples complaints seriously because they are still logged in and they are still playing the game. They complain the reward system for HoT is utter cr** which it is indeed the saddest reward system in any expansion I’ve ever played. Yet these same people spend money in the cash shop. People dessubed in WoW and they seem to be rectifying some of those issues your name is Rexxar so you know many people in GW2 are WoD refugees even the guy who recognized your name and told you to leave in the second post knew the name something only someone who has played WoW would know. Gw2 numbers are slipping and it’s easy to see and while some people equate it to the hoard of people that leave a month after every expac it hasnt stopped and more and more people continue to leave.

This is the only way to send a message to Anet the White Knights will still be around sucking up but when there are only 20 knights playing the game they will either have to adapt and change for the better or be forgotten.

Next year there parent company NCsoft is releasing another MMO and of course legion will happen so if Anet doesn’t start making moves to retain some people this will be the end. As for people and future content the future content will be whats missing from this game basically raids which literally should have been in at the start. If you don’t like raids then the future content will have no meaning for you.

More or less the only way Anet will ever care about our concerns is when the logins and cash shop dry up.

Exactly what he said craft the gift of mastery and fortune as well as the weapon gift.

Crafting the pre literally doesn’t surpass simply buying it of the TP for every aspect the only reason to do so is because you desire to do so.

Precrafting was made in a way to equal the amount of gold the item costs on the TP in a way such that the difference might just be 50-100g however many Pres have dropped below that mark. From a gold perspective most are now cheaper.

From a time perspective you can spend time farming mats from a specific mob on a specific map or you can just do whatever you like doing to farm gold because gold comes in from just about everything. Some pre’s come with 40 days of time gated mats and in 40 days most people can farm enough gold to buy a couple of pre’s if they really dedicated. Where some one who was really dedicated at crafting is gated the gold farmer is not and thus the term fun can be used.

Mats the pre’s use way to much mats and it seems there purpose was to drain mats from the economy. If someone tells you to farm the mats or they already have the mats on hand so it’s cheaper don’t listen to them. It’s a pre not a legendary a mere exotic level component. Those who have tossed months of time gated mats at there pre won’t be able to use those mats for legendary armor or backpack items and other actual legendary items. Pre’s are an exotic that drain mats in the econ for upcoming crafting items we had Nightfury recently and upcoming armor and precrafting has kept the mat cost up so these things will be more expensive for everyone.

RNG is RNG and there is RNG in precrafting there isn’t any RNG in buying or farming for gold other than the pre simple not being in the TP. Compared to the mystic toilet the drop rates for pre crafting that require RNG is higher however they require many more instances of RNG it isn’t a single drop or even a single item like in the Mystic Forge.

So yeah don’t craft the Pre the skins are suppose to retroactively unlock also though I don’t see the point as no one is going to use the pre step skins once they actually get the legendary so there wasted skins really. Sort of like Bladed backpack or Mawdrey but people won’t use the lower tier due to stats compared to ascended.

Yet we can grind Pact mastery in maps like Queensdale which have absolutely nothing to do with the pact?

The borders need to come down for the exp caps on masteries I have a job and a life and chose GW2 because it was more casual and gave the player freedom for what they wished to do. Yet these gates are mindless and restrict the very freedoms that drew me to the game in the first place.

Went into HoT not hyped but expecting the average and it was day 3 I noticed I had no new gear whatsoever. I asked around on the map if anyone has looted any new skins at all and everyone was in the same boat aside one single person who looted a reclaimed axe I think. Yet since HoT’s launch they’ve been flooding the cash shop with skins.

This entire thing is full of LoL and white knights mixed in with people with legitimate concerns

People wanted harder content which is true myself included however people wanted Underworld, FoW, Sorrow, Depths, that place in Torment, or the dungeons in EOTN. What we got is a big old middle finger to new people and casual players and that isn’t right. You didn’t have to march through the Underworld in GW1 to make it to the final boss. So why in GW2 are they making people march through this type of content on there way to this expacs final boss.

There is only one rational conclusion and that will be the inevitable nerf to the maps all because Anet didn’t want to make side maps off the beaten path for end game farming. Speaking of which there are no post campaign maps like the Underworld at all. These maps are a mix and unbalanced as people complain about certain mobs and rightfully so because these mobs don’t line up with the difficulty and power of the mobs around them. You go from killing some mushroom who doesn’t know how to put up a fight to get sniped by snipers, mobed by raptors, and chased down by smoke scales. The difficulty in the mobs just isn’t’ balanced.

Furthermore this so called expac forces you to return to the core so while some people say it’s best not to use Zerk I don’t see the point in changing you can survive in Zerk and only 4 maps in the game isn’t enough since people literally have to farm old content for mastery points and slightly altered achieves.

More or less forcing the entire community to march through these games version of harder pve content was doomed from the very start. It should of been an optional high yield map like the underworld in gw2 instead of a mandatory blanket placed on everyone of every skill level.

Anet and the knights got it wrong on HoT and difficulty…..

Raids are supposed to be difficult and that’s what we all expect…

However for PVE content people wanted a difficult zone like those found in GW1. Underworld, Fissure of WoE, The Deep, and that place in Torment whose name I forget are what the people wanted in terms of difficulty and all of which were optional zones with high yield rewards. Though they made the campaign maps more difficult just to give a middle finger to casuals and new players I guess I really don’t know.

HoT is more difficult yes and it’s an unneeded difficulty and I feel the game still lacks a a traditional Underworld type map so people will still be asking for more difficult content since we didn’t get it cause I know I am as HoT isn’t hard for a vet just annoying with mapping with masteries. These people will be drowned out by regular folks who like myself are kinda confused why they made the mobs the current level of difficulty they are for campaign maps…

It’ll all get nerfed eventually because of how they tried to implement difficult content by not adding a dedicated map for it. It’ll start with the three measly maps we got in HoT then spread way to far and effect the raids. Doesn’t matter how many people want difficult content forcing everyone to march through it sealed it’s destruction.

Power, Vitality, Healing Power

Wha!?
Do you play the game!?

Toughness alone increases you defense and is great against single/direct target damage however with toughness alone you will get wiped by Condi dmg some of which tic for a set amount of damage and toughness provides no defense against it.

Vitality alone increases your overall health pool and single target/direct damage will take huge chunks out of it even with the increased health. However with Vitality you are provided an excellent buffer against condi damage since that can tic for a set amount of damage it can be completely ignored for the most part with high enough Vit.

Healing power needs to be fixed and is indeed useless to a degree while a zerker build pretty much only relies on healing power and mitigation skills you have enough healing power off the bat to heal yourself effectively. As for healing other people it’s an outgoing skill like Power or Condi however Healing doesn’t count for event completion and due to the nature of the mechanics in this game a pure healer is actually a detriment to a party rather than a boon.

Basically a loose meaning..
Toughness counters Power
Vitality counters Condi Damage

Mesmers aren’t OP at all it’s just people don’t have any Vit so my Condi Mesmer eats there faces in pvp and yet I’m the one to get nerfed!? again and again and again etc…

I love the difficulty, breath of fresh air from everything else in open-world PVE that you steam roll right over.

People wanted difficulty to be sure but what they really wanted was something akin to the underworld and other off the beaten path maps in Gw1. The great thing about those were they were optional and I can see why more casual people would have complaints having to go through more difficult maps in the core campaign rather than have them separate.

I like the difficulty myself but I know it won’t last due to that oversight and will no doubt be nerfed in time
