Guild halls placement!

I have to agree

I’m not one to completely spoil a game before I buy them but was a bit dissapointed to know the two level 80 maps on the world map were in fact the Guild Halls. Probably on purpose but artificial creating a larger world map by adding in guild halls seems like a ploy. They also don’t fit in with the world as the OP has stated.

So yes Mists would’ve made a bit more sense a guild v guild situation wouldn’t make much sense if two guilds owned the same guild hall. That or trek across VB unless GvG is just an old GW1 fantasy and I’m deluding myself.

Account Bound Masteries are a future problem

I feel the amount of exp needed to level Masteries was probably increased in the first place since they are indeed a one time deal though. So to some of the people who are simply glad there done and out of the way the grind more than likely would’ve been somewhat faster if they weren’t account bound.

It’s not so much that they are account bound but what reason would anyone have to come back to these maps. Alt playthroughs will be quick brief visits to the maps probably a bit boring too and these maps require groups in some degree. The reward system isn’t that great and new people aren’t going to find a SW or DT when they come to these maps but rather they’ll be doing the mastery grind alone.

People are QQ’n left and right about Masteries gating story breaking immersion and so forth. Also that to a degree there are also gating where and how you can get exp to level those Masteries.

These are all issues however I see a greater issue that doesn’t get mentioned probably because it is a future problem with HoT. Masteries are account-bound as you only need to level them once which means you alt will blaze through the maps and story no problem. Your alts also won’t have to collect mastery points on the world map since those too are account bound. The reason raising Masteries takes so much exp to level is because you only need to do it once.

Problem is they did this for GW2 core then leveling to 80 probably would’ve taken 4x as long as it normally would be all your alts would practically be 80 on creation. After trudging through with your initial toon all the gameplay is pretty much done and there is no longevity in that sort of thing. If every alt you had instantly had map completetion and all there skills would creating an alt be fun at all since everything is there from the start. An alt for HoT doesn’t have to do anything and can blaze through the story at record time with zero gates whatsoever.

Masteries should have had less exp need to level and they shouldn’t have been account bound as I forsee the current set up being incredibly boring for the altoholic. The cost upfront is higher than it needs to be and the price paid after is none existant even the most vacant of the older maps still has people leveling alts in HoT they’ll be able to glide and hop mushrooms like a champion with such low reward for events they’ll have no reason to do those. New players who purchase this game months from now will no doubt a hellish time when no one around them has to grind for a gate or do events with little reward.

These maps are nothing like SW or DT there more akin to Orr

That said I agree as I don’t see anything that will keep players locked into these maps after leveling. The fact there forced to grind the existing events will probably reinforce that giving people a negative feeling with the zones. I’m already doing the same events over and over again raising my mastery to continue with story. The rewards simply are not there to keep people around. So yes I can see these maps being near vacant once the masses move through they might even end up with fewer people than Orr because at least Orr has the temples. Orr also has smaller events and more waypoints so only time will tell how things will turn out. Though I’m sure people will flock to a single zone eventually most likely the final zone.

I myself am moving deeper into the maps like was stated previously because the events in the earlier maps are too spread out and don’t offer enough consistency or exp so I move deeper to grind Mastery. Masteries will take a long time to level and thus people will natural go to the events with the greatest consistency and pay off.

You need a wuss like ol’ Thackery in your group to make the others look more kitten by comparison. So if Thackery wants to wet his pants let him it just makes everyone else look better. Even in Gw1 I knew that Thackery was no good for Gwen heck Gwen was practically the only family you had if you made a Prophecies character. Turns out I was right look at that genetic line turned out in Gw2…. shame…..

Has its places in WvW but for PvP and PvE support and heals put you at a disadvantage since healing and buffs don’t calculate into event completion. Druid even had to be reworked a bit for added DPS because the games system only acknowledges DPS. Furthermore healing power and boon duration need an overhaul or even a merger.

apart from tequatl zergs I have not noticed on my druid any issue to get gold from any event even playing staff/mostly healing people…..

right now I’m confused how it works and whats is and what is not counted toward completion….

Not sure but I remember them stating they were going to up DPS for Druids after the initial Beta. I can’t find the statement or anything that shows they went through with plan maybe someone reading this can clarify as I can’t find the post since search function is still buggy for forums. But that might be why your pulling the DPS numbers to still get credit from normal events yet not the larger ones like teq.
Not 100% how it calculates either but I do know from the last time I attempted heal if I don’t hit the mob with DPS I don’t credit get all.

less gold from runs means less people buying goods on the TP.

FALSE!

What make the price of something is its rarity and the amount of money available.
If on average you have more money than others : you’re rich. If you have less : you’re poor.

A too wide wealth gap between hardcore farmers and players doing less money rewarding activities, the more economy is crippled.

“Richs” do not need to buy billions of things. They probably looted it already or can buy it and will never buy it again. Or they’ll do it for conveniency.
“Poors” do not have the items and can’t buy them.

With a more balance gold generation, the inflation is kept at bay so people who take a break from farming do not fall fast into the “poors” and hardcore farmers can’t outrun “poors” too fast.

So they can’t increase price expectancy by creating more money than others will ever be able to gather and ask for prices out of reach to non-hardcore farmers.

(but “no wealth gap” is bad too)

So what people who farm gold from runs hord that gold in there banks!?
The people collecting all those shards from dungeon runs don’t use them in crafting Legendries either!?

This is a video game and that should be taken into consideration first and foremost

Trickle down economics fails in the real world because the rich spend there resources over seas and that money never makes it back down to the poor. Well the poor of the country attempting that method. This is a video game and the money they earn has no where to go but right back into the TP. The ectos from salvaged rares, the t6 mats bought for people working on legendary weapons, and the raw gold all gets folded back into the economy. They might buy an overpriced weapon skin but that money goes right back into the economy.

This game lacks an upkeep fee so the trading post is fundamentally flawed and doesn’t fit the bill for traditional supply and demand. A person can place an item set 5 months ago and it will remain at that price. If they really wanted to regulate the wealth in this game properly the only thing they would have to do is add a time limit like other MMO’s to the TP. Reduce the initial tax and let items stay up for 24-48 hours before there taken down. That would give us a more free economy and close the gap between the haves and have nots.

Dungeon runs while done mainly for gold also feuled the economy and even legendary weapon market and all that it feuls since every weapon requires dungeon shards. Ecto’s and other things also placed on the TP. The problem with our economy also stems from the cash shop and people simply outright buying gold without outside cash in order to buy and sell things on the TP.

The rarity of all items is increasing and the amount of gold is decreasing partly due to the changes made to dungeon runs. It’s not even about the gold but rather the other things a dungeon run brings as if they were serious about gold they would’ve changed SW even so my statement stands " Less gold from dungeon runs means less people buying goods from the TP" doesn’t take an elitist or a rich character to do a dungeon run. If a person wanted a Ticket weapon they’d run dungeons till they could afford it on the TP. People bought keys to get tickets to get exclusive weapon skins to sell to those people running dungeons and if there not running then people won’t be buying.
Just today I had a talk with a friend who is trying to complete the gift of Pred and was short of dungeon shards but no one was doing the dungeon they needed anymore and I had to point them to attempt hours of PvP instead of a few dungeon runs.

Problem with legendary precursor crafting

Doam.8305

Precursor crafting implies you will use crafting. Make an alt and start working on that profession.

I do have an artificer. The problem is that I unlocked the recipe on the wrong toon

You can buy the chest from the legendary crafter NPC.

Neither of you read what the OP stated

The box before it was broken apart to the individual pieces stated it could be crafted by three separate professions. This isn’t unusual as many recipes exist that can be crafted by more than one professions the ascended mats for instance. However upon receiving and opening the item the reqs written on the box weren’t universal as lets say bolt of damask but for three separate things tied to three separate crafting professions.

So I agree with the OP that is indeed messed up
Chest of Ancient Mysticism
Box of Recipeis: Legend

As the OP has described them neither of these should probably be present in those forms but broken up into individual items so people can see exactly what crafting profession is needed to for each item. Either that or an additional footnote that shows the content and remove the crafting deal from the boxes themselves. I’ve yet to purchase either item and just going from the OP description it’s still early in HoT and this seems like a minor oversight.

White Knight completely and utterly blocking out any sort of ideals that don’t align with your own?

Even when they acknowledged the problem by removing the poison mastery gate stating the very reason people have stated the OP still makes this post as a shining example to other knights if you just ignore the problems and believe in Anet that everything will be alright.

There is no spine no act of will just a sheepish complacency with that line of thinking

Giving us more healing aligned elites without fixing the fact healing isn’t computed into events or how healing power needs reworked?

Second you feel even the tiniest bit immersed in the story you required to grind for mastery. Early on its grind exalted marking then do the story and directly after it asks you to grind for updraft.

You either need to explore all the maps for HP or basically complete story mode to unlock the potential of your elite spec. Doing so before hand will just make you another person begging for a rezz at the side of the mob ridden roads since content is more difficult and I’ve seen plenty of people parked at the side of the roads hoping for a rezz.

Personally I’m all for the removal of story gating it’s like your reading a book but every time it gets interesting someone yanks the book from your hand. Masteries are a problem because there gating the story and much of the QQ would end if they were separate. Also Healing power needs to be reworked this community gets worse day by day because with harder content those who support end up being more of a burden because there presence does nothing more than scale up the mobs. Does little good to heal when you being there does nothing more than make the mobs hit back harder and take less damage.

Get hit with another grind spot to next story…. cry….

Gw2 at least had hearts and other MMO’s have quests yet in HOT all we have are event chains in which all you do is kill X mobs till the next part of the chain. They stated at the launch of GW2 that they were against those old kill X mob quests yet these event chains are indeed a form of kill X mobs. Heck first Heart humans run into in GW2 can be completed many different ways they could kill wurms, water plants, or complete an event that was in the area at the time like put out fires. All in the same heart and counted for completion these event chains are just nonstop mobs and nonstop killing kill X mobs till the next event chain.

Same with OP

Story is broken up so much it’s hard to immerse into any of it

Play some grind gliding, play grind shroom, grind exalted, grind updraft and so forth. The story has so much down time in it due to the constant grinding requirement that it’s become disjointed. Anet has admitted it through there actions as actions speak louder than words since they removed the poison requirement. The story will be more enjoyable for the rest of us who’ve yet to reach that point but by doing that they admit there is a problem. I’ve already told people your interested in the story your better off grinding and I’ve given them a heads up everytime I hit a grinding gate.

Worse yet we don’t really have hearts or quests so grinding comes down to event chains and what makes that bad is they basically boil down to killing mobs. One of the things Anet was against at the launch of GW2 was the kill X mob quests yet these event chains have you killing mobs to protect X target while traveling, Killing Mobs to take X location, or killing mobs so NPC can complete X task. It’s all killing mobs the very thing they wanted to avoid with GW2. Grinding with quests wasn’t bad in other MMO’s and grinding with hearts wasn’t bad in GW2 but HoT takes it to a place that is neither fun or engaging. Doesn’t even make sense either some parts of the story tell you that you need to hurry and are in a rush then right after your hit with a grind gate.

I expected all that they promised when they released Gw2 what I got instead was HoT

People are too dependent that someone will come and rezz them these days…
Furthermore If you died while at full health what hope is someone going to have at rezzing you and not dieing themselves. If your so angry about people not rezzing join the pro-mount group that way you can get back to your old location without being mauled by every mob you walk past. Also healing doesn’t calculate into event completion and events scale so while rezzing the down is fine rezzing the fully dead is looked down upon because by you simply being there the event is made more difficult and everyone and by not contributing DPS or rezzing the down over the dead you making it harder on the entire group. SO until that changes I don’t rezz the dead until the event is over.

The maps remind me of Orr before the Megaserver so I don’t think they will last as people will revert to SW or DT. The events are too far spread apart and infrequent and while every zone has an event chain it’s not how I though it would be at all. Figured they’d all like DT/SW but they hardly reward anything at all. So once people have mapped and completed story I feel some of these maps not all will start to feel like Southsun.

Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

Doam.8305

By the time you get your elite specialization up and running your practically already done with the expansion. Explored all of the new zones hunting for HP points or basically removed all incintive to even bother including Elites with this expac. For those stating PvP or WvW there basically telling you to go to a completely different mode of play and grind nonstop to unlock all abilities just so you can explore a new expansion with a new set of abilities? That’s a rather white knightish statement in itself because they refuse to acknowledge the rather obvious runaround involved to make something right. Using that line of thinking then it’s obvious to see how Anet is never wrong because you can twist and turn anything to make yourself seem correct.

Elite specs shouldn’t have been a focus with the Expansion the Revenant fits the bill as you get a new class from the start.

Gw2 isn’t like GW1 and HoT isn’t like GW2 so a traditional new class going through an expac the same way as any other MMO is present for the one particular class. However the elite specs are about as broken as healing as a viable means for this game. The create these elites like druid for healing yet neglect to fix healing power or count healing for event completion. Just like they added new skills to the elite specs only but made the content hard enough to the point it’s not viable to play them until you’ve unlocked all it’s abilities. By the time you’ve gotten to that point you’ve already explored the game or completed the story so the should’ve just made elites baseline for the core game. A rather simple complaint and feel sorry for the knights who have been working overtime its obvious that Anet didn’t think this through and the forums are wall to wall QQ as a result and there is a hint of truth in every complaint I’ve read thus far that makes me feel sorry for all parties involved.

Peeps been asking for that since day one so I wouldn’t hold my breath. Yes Anet did comment but that was years ago so once again I wouldn’t hold my breath….

WvW, PvP, PvE, JP’s, and everything in between it would be easy to create a templete for each one and use each and everyone but for some reason Anet doesn’t want to provide. Also might as well toss on additional weapon slots since we only have two slots available while GW1 had about 5 slots. As a Mesmer I have to switch my loadout for every mode but just like a quick change for a build a quick change for a weapon would also be nice.

Damask Patch was added to existing recipes
Liquid Gold removal

There removing gold while increasing the prices of goods and older recipes
Also player time as some people logged in simply to run dungeons and it isn’t a hard concept to grasp that some people log on for a single mode of play. Less gold means less dungeon runs which means less legendary weapons since people need to farm shards. We have precrafting and pres are dropping in price but the crafting is more expensive than the decline in price so some precursors will sharply rebound. However without dungeon runs the weapon gifts will be harder to craft and less gold from runs means less peopel buying goods on the TP.

Our TP is far from perfect and goods can be left to rot on the market for months tha gap between the rich and poor will widen dramatically. This isn’t a market at there is no true supply and demand here it is all digital and all controlled by Anet they control the supply of items and with the single stroke they control the demand. Damask Patch wasn’t needed to craft ascended but now it is because anet wanted to control the demand for leather.

The only ones able to purchase goods in the future will be those converting cash to gems and those who do so through gold sellers. The average man the so called middle class is left behind to rot with this new changes to the market. You can’t even buy and sell dye for gold with the 3 year birthday gift they implemented.

Grindy games are fun when epic loot is involved something HoT doesn’t actually have in it. You can grind a mastery and kill all sorts of mobs and the only thing you’ll get is maybe a reclaimed weapon or two. Everything else is old content loot and half the time the mobs drop nothing at all. The Halloween event has loot as many people farm the labrynth for new skins and bags. That grind is enjoyable unlike HoT mastery grinding.

To many people refusing to take responsibility and WP. If your dead in a HoT zone then it as either falling damage or mobs and I’m guessing it was mobs. Not going to risk dying killing mobs to rez a dead person who doesn’t have enough self respect to WP and would rather endanger other people while sitting there for minutes on end. If your downed however that’s a different story as I’ll rush in a Blitz the injured mob so you can rally.

If your going to rally a downed person kill the injured mob its safer and faster and doesn’t turn you into a punching bag while rezzing. Furthermore it pulls the aggro of the downed player giving them a chance to rez on there own or safety when the mobs death will rally them. Tip of the day

Game wide reward nerfing needs to stop.

They nerf all the events and gold as well as mat farming.

Then they increase overall costs with precursor crafting trap and making gear harder and more expensive to obtain with items like Damask Patch.

Congrats less gold/mats in the market as well as more expensive items and the white knights are out in force defending these changes.

Also there are no reward seven day 1 of HoT they released a ton of new cash shop items. Dungeons reward less gold so less people running them so new people are unable to collect the 500 shards needed for legendary and are herded into PvP like cattle because Janet only cares about reports and there cash shop. If they wanted to reduce gold they would have needed SW so all counters using economic reasoning are made mute.

Chaos Gun is 400g on TP and its crafting method requires entry into 5-6 different fractal bosses. In this new fractal island system it was high impossible to get a group that didn’t break up after a single fractal or daily. Then it was back to square one didn’t see why such a personnel journey required such a great deal of group work or farming modes I have literraly no interest in. Coupled with the costs I just bought the thing on the TP since its dropped over 100g since crafting was announced. Top prices will no doubt skyrocket when more people learn the journey costs are either higher or comparable with added grinding.

Who knew a game with no mounts had so many high horses.

Surprising how Tyria has horses, yet no one has seen one yet! What a weird anomoly

Mounts would actually fix some of the complaints about the game being unsoloable. WP are far fewer and people could get from point a to point b without fighting a horde of enemies every trip without the fear of death and WP miles away to make the trip all over again.

Also I’ve been to every map aside two of them and I haven’t seen anything greater than a small pond with like 3 skelk so I have no idea where this salt water is coming from? I do know underwater weapons have become even more worthless though..

And HoT is nothing like GW2

If it’s one thing anet is good at is ticking off its veteran players also they really work there white knights to the bone as I feel sorry for them defending everything with the highest resolution post after post after post. Also this level of difficulty will just bring rise to the old mount posts. WP are few and far in between in HoT and mobs can be really thick you can’t glide over them all and running through some of them is simple death even with swiftness. So a travel method for those who don’t want to kill everything in site when traverse a map for the 15th time should be put in place. As a mesmer I stealth so I have no problem but I’ve stealthed through enough corpses and people fighting to know something needs to change.

Nothing with Healing is viable in this game I’m afraid

Healing Power is in dire need of an overhaul and besides that the event system in this game still only counts DPS. So while yes you can heal a group it doesn’t help you that you end up with a bronze for the event while the DPS folks get gold with the additional exp and currency rewards.

Healing still remains more a WvW thing as prior a healing guard may be the point of a zerging wiping or taking down an enemy zerg so WvW still works for healing.

The only things that you could argue are grind are optional bonuses and rewards that aren’t necessary. Those are there for the people who want to be hardcore.

.

Okay ty you convinced me

I start HoT now and play the new story.

… oh wait whats this O.o

…. i cant go on playing without grinding 5 mio xp to do the next story episode ( its more than from 0 to 80)

but nice guy at forum told me i only have to grind for optional bonuses and rewards that aren’t necessary.

it must be a bug O.o

until it will be fixed i go on swinging my sword and after that i swing it again cause thats great

You can say the same thing from the beginning. of the game, level 10 story need level 10. You should be level 20 for the level 20 area. can’t equip this awesome shield till I hit level 30. Everything need effort of the player. There no race though, so don’t try to burn your self out also.

I made a ranger alt once and I was told Gw2 was different the end game started as soon as your character was made. So I took my ranger and decided I’d collect all the ranger pets and thus traveled the entire game merely collecting pets and before I was even level 5 on that alt I collected every single ranger pet in the game. The reason this was possible was because nothing was gated there were no barriers as GW was free to do as I pleased. A friend of mine started playing and all he wanted to do was explore and that’s what he did that exact same friend bought HoT and he didn’t want to do the campaign right off the bat he simply wanted to explore. That is all gated as he got as far as he could before the game capped his exploration off with gliding mastery. You should be level 20 for the level 20 area but you don’t have to there are no barriers this statement isn’t true for HoT at all and thus no I cannot compare the original Gw2 core to what this expansion is trying to sell as there not the same thing at all.I’ve heard from too many people who were once thrilled at the more laid back GW2 MMO model and are upset with what HoT has become. GW2 was a laid back MMO with a great community with an emphasis on doing what you want when you wanted if your skill permitted. HoT is nothing like the core or what Anet told us they envisioned for this game.

How would you rate the HoT Fun Factor?

This is an expansion they say!?
So why aren’t mobs dropping new items or skins and why aren’t we using new skills to kill these mobs!?
There are skills tied to elites which are gated behind story and a number of exp grind points so thats no fun as you have the same old skill till that point and not all elites are even fun…
There are new skins and items but there all in the cash shop and BLK Lion deal the term epic loot or even mediocre loot doesn’t describe this game at all…
We explorring maps? or are we checking out small tidbits of a map before we are forced to grind masteries…

GW2 was the feel good MMO were end game started the second you created your character. Casual grind with a friendly community and you could go even at level 1 into any map you wanted too if you could survive as exploration was unlimited and so was your desire. HoT is nothing like the core at all and nothing like what the devs initially promised for this game. This was a casual MMO that everyone could enjoy and it was fun and they stripped all that down when they released this game.

Bought for pre-crafting looked it up and gave up and spent the gold it’s just not worth it at all. Sheer fact it takes gold, group play, and other currencies downs help so simply buying the thing straight up was the answer.

Precursor crafting shouldn’t be more work than all the other gifts combined and cost enough gold you might as well just buy the thing in my book.

This expac is the worst expac I’ve yet to play and I came to that conclusion today will grinding with a friend. After playing for hours I or anyone I know has yet to loot a new skin. Sure story mode awards that bladed deal like carapace but what expansion doesn’t award you with new loot. No new skins from killing mobs there is no reward for killing mobs no sense of this being an actual expansion. No new skills either when your starting out there gated to the elite and then you only get a handful of skills. You spend $50 for a so called Expansion and day 1 the Cash Shop is loaded with new skins and the actual expansion is a barren wasteland. Not even new weapon skins from loot but they sure did add new weapons to the cash shop and BLK Ticket. So I can’t think of a worse expansion than this one and they literally drained the fun out of this game.

Make it to the new lands and everytime you make inroads in the story ya gotta stop ta grind them old masteries once again. The enemies over that hill simply too strong? Group requirement for a dungeon needed to proceed? None of the above as apparently mindless killing monsters in zones decided by anet are what you have to do to progress. All that they’ve promised went down the old toilet with this expac.

Also like the guy above me said this topic makes no sense the OP wants you to toughen up and take your beating? That’s more of a sheep or a whiteknight/yes man people with actual spines and adults don’t just sit and take it like a coward or spineless weasel.

This is a static holiday achievement there are more than enough perks in this game as is or has everyone already forgotten that season 1 was nothing more than temporary content. Numerous skins and titles and even experiences are already an example of how long you’ve played. Such things are fine however I take issue in trying to implement such things into core holiday’s such as Christmas, Halloween, and so forth. For a so called casual feel good MMO this game is getting more elitist and what was once called the best community out there continues to darken.

So yes I do agree that the Halloween title should return this year. It’s hard enough as is for me to get new people to even try out this game and I don’t want this game to turn into WoW were fresh people feel eternally kitten since far to much of the game is locked to veterans. This just leads to a situation were new subs don’t counteract the natural loss of players over time and the game begins to decline.

Too much RNG with Precursor Crafting

Wait so how longs the expansion been up? And you are expecting to get the precursor today? Its not a get a free precursor card, its a long journey to get it. The feature has hardly been in the game yet you are whining about it, seriously grow up. Instead of living life just for a legendary, why don’t you actually play the game or did you spend $50 to expect a free precursor with the expansion?

WOOSH!!!

I’m bored but for another reason seem some of the people either went into HoT with the complaints you all have or others like myself went back a to work on Core Masteries and found a horrible mindnumbing grind to await us.

Take your face and smash it against the grinding block….

Then start QQ’n about Pre-crafting like the rest of us

Pre-Crafting that legendary solo adventure that lacks any form or RNG or forces you into group modes you have no interest in that might as well be RNG like getting into specific fractal instances. It’s old group content required when everyone is either in HoT, Halloween, or soon to be Raids.

I see now why they picked the Hammer for the showcase as all they had to do was kneel at a couple statues…. It’s nice the task are different depending on the pre it’s just some seem rather unfair compared to others.

Sounds better than mine and if that’s the First tier of Zap I’ll gladly trade you the first tier of Chaos Gun.

You have RNG but with Quip your relying on other people cause you need to peg not only world bosses but a fractal bosses with pheromones. Also eating candy corn till you throw up in fractals. I really don’t see why they have to force fractals in pre crafting. Not like you can pull up a specific fractal but you apparently need to do specific specific to complete the crafting. In this single fractal world we live in now people do the daily and leave let alone do the higher ups. I played WvW and was specced with WvW infusions I don’t have agony and some of those bosses the pugs imply don’t do.

Too much padding and way too much needless grind they also loaded the game up with ways to bottlecap progression. Masteries, Lfg changes, and so forth also all the cash shop items revealed this game truly feels like a F2P game now which was probably there intent.

Agreed and once you get that mastery its time to hope back into the same WB, Fractals, and world events I was going to make precursor to quip but that legendary journey is horrible. The hammer gets to kneel at statues and visit obscure locations in the world map while the pistol has to hunt down timed and bosses locked into fractals. Were is the balance!? Even had to redo an old event just to get started and wait for that event to spawn.

I agree with this topic 100%

Tyrian Mastery Tracks need a change in EXP

There are no MMO’s without grind this is true however the grind in other MMO’s is locked to current content. I’ll use WoW as an example when they make an expac there is grind however it’s all grind featuring new content they never ask you to go back to old content and grind the old content unless it’s been altered.

Most people have mains I have mains and my character has been 80 long before any incling of an expansion ever existed. People who put off hitting 80 are typically new unless you’ve leveled your 9th alt just for this expac.

Grinding new content is fine as I don’t have a problem with HoT Masteries and new people who can put off 80 it’s fine for them too as they can still explore.

Old content is the problem and I suppose dungeon runs are the answer since all other options were completed ages ago other than running SW and DT 1 hundred more times.

If you’ve been playing this game for some time you no doubt have a lvl 80 and that lvl 80 has probably already completeled global mapping. Furthermore you’ve probably churned out tons of hours in both SW and DT.

Masteries for the original zones like Fractal and legendary crafting mysteries only except Exp earned in the original maps. Well and fine for new people but telling Vets there forced to kill mobs are do the same event maps they’ve been doing all summer for EXP is a bit much. I was going to do the Halloween events but they apparently don’t count for mastery exp gains. So that leaves the same old tired content or running from event to event in SW. If your a veteran you’ve already done these events a 100 times over and you’ve already completed map completion till the point you’ve gotten sick. Nothing new for the old maps other than Masteries that force you to slam your face against a rock to grind for exp because you’ve completed map completion ages ago or done the events so many times they numb the mind.

Why should vets be punished this system is fine for new people but veterans at the very least should be grandfathered some of the exp for the old Tryrian maps that they’ve gathered these last couple of years after hitting 80. Legendary precursors crafting was suppose to be some grand journey but region locking your exp grinding has already killed any hype that the process would be enjoyable.

Can't level masteries in Mad King Labyrinth?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Doam.8305

Map Completion having a level 80 for years and then Masteries come out and I too decided to level masteries through Halloween Events. Sadly I’m already bored to tears as I have yet to get a legendary weapon and all I need is the Precursor that never dropped. Taking a characters that already done everything and having them smash there head against a wall to level a mastery isn’t good design at all. At the very least vets should get a credit for the XP the gained since hitting level 80 which includes map completion past 80. If not your stuck doing the same old events youve been doing all summer in SW or mindlessly killing mobs to level mastery. I started doing Halloween events till I to figured out they didn’t count then I did some SW till I got bored and then I logged out onto an alt till I got bored. Reduce the exp requirement or give vets a credit for the exp they already gathered.

This game badly needs server merging

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

WvW is the problem and the TC mentioned it

As for maps being empty the servers are already merged and it’s simply a population issue. More people should be logged in for HoT then it should die down again though the population of this game remains in either WB train, DT, PvP lobby, SW, or Arch outside of those places the game is dead.

WvW needs mergers more than anything as many servers are either dead or locked in a perpetual loosing streak because they have so few people. The few that are active have a que and a stable middle ground doesn’t exist in the sense that it should.

any info about healing power change?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Heal Power isn’t the problem

The fact that healing, buffing, or even rezzing someone doesn’t count for event completion is the problem. There is no point in healing whatsoever if you send up with a bronze medal or less for an event since you didn’t dps. Raids and stuff is fine since it’s built for it but another problem is that the rest of the game is balanced around dodging and rally. Which pretty much kittens any real difficulty PVE since the target will always have skills that can be dodged usually the TKO and if you ever forget to dodge you simply rally.

Agreed that healing power should scale more but until it gets counted in events I don’t see the point.

Are condition mesmers no longer viable?

Nope

If you think it is viable in any mode then ask yourself how long that will last till the next nerf. So instead of gittin gud and learning they just want to smash us with the ban hammer,

You might not like Chrono but Chrono is strictly better than Mesmer like a shiny new replacement card. None of the other elites can say that since there more balanced than chrono and mes but you get everything that makes a mesmer a mesmer and an F5 skill!?

The other classes had there F skills thrown out the window and replaced or at the very least altered however the chrono is an addition without change. Not a fan of chrono to all that myself but I’m going to be one my main is Mesmer after all.

MMO 101 but I keep forgetting this is the first MMO for most people so there a little slow on how the genre works and have that internet everything my way or ima sit and QQ for days on end till people bottle feed me attention mentality. Not saying in this post but I tend to see that mentality a lot more in this game than others. Sorry to burst your bubble, rain on your parade, or otherwise sour your mood

However Halloween starts Oct 23 and HoT launches on OCT 23

So there is a good chance the Halloween events will remain vacant as the vast majority of people will be doing HoT related deals. Either that or grinding out new masteries which will no doubt hurt some of the Halloween events.

Raids and meters...

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

No meters until classes are reasonably balanced

Meters exist in wow for instance however you’d still bring every class along for the raid besides a Shaman.(My poor poor alli shammy) Every classes brings something to the table this isn’t true for GW2 and at the very best you’d need the top healing and top support class with everyone else being the top DPS class. That’s three out of 9 classes if even at that while the other classes would get booted due to meter and other such nonsense.

I main a mez for the record

Solution for Ascended Gear Gate in Raids.

Doam.8305

This is foolhardy at best this isn’t WoW or any other traditional MMO

Putting in a block not matter the kind including armor would just tear open another big hole in this games fundamental design structure.

It’s a game of DPS and thus a game of burst

Adding in an ascended armor req would do nothing more than remove classes from que. The Beserker meta was nothing but the heavy armor classes and if the game is difficult enough to warrant ascended then then of the 9 classes people will only have 1 go to for each role. This game lacks the level of class identity needed and if things are so difficult they require ascended then no doubt it would be too difficult to even think of bringing in a lesser class. Other MMO’s aren’t exactly balanced and classes get ignored(WoW-Shaman as they bring zip to the table that other classes can’t do better) but the classes are balanced enough to take others along in raids as every class brings something to the table.

More or less the classes are so unbalanced and so unrefined that too many of them will probably be ignored for raiding even if they were wearing ascended and I feel no game should penalize people for there class. Though punishing people for there class is something Gw2 is known for since we had the Zerker Meta It would be nice to separate them for raids but not only would this lead to more time creating raids it wouldn’t seperate elitists from casuals. Every time I run a new guildy through story mode I end up chewing out some elitist who thinks it’s explorable the same would be true for casual raid mode.

For the record my main is Mez who does have asc also ascended is 10% after they updated it. Also what skill is there in obtaining Ascended!? If anything they should just have a Guild Raid and pug raid with pug getting a buff.

Is HoT pay to win?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Doam.8305

Oh yeah didn’t ya here the devs going on how elite specs are supposed to be on par with existing classes. Be as usefull with or without that elite spec the devs say as it’s all balanced out.

Cept that it only takes a quick glance at the Mesmer to know the Chrono is strictly better than a Mesmer. Whatever a Mesmer can do a chrono can do better and even faster thanks to there shatter abilities and even with more flare since they have an extra shatter button.

So yeah your going to be hampered if you don’t pony up for HoT.

Coming from other mmo's (suggestions)

No to everything with the exception of mounts

The argument against mounts is funamentally flawed and these posts continue to spring up as a result.

Waypoints is a folly excuse because if that were true then the entire swiftness and 25% movement buff system we have in place should be removed. There is literally no difference in moving 33% faster with swiftness than moving 33% with a character reskin. Furthermore carpets, drills, and brooms already exist and the gliding system is a form of mounts in itself since there will no doubt be a variety of gliders.

There literally is no excuse or argument that can be held up for the removal of mounts. Thus the posts will always be made and the white knights will always swarm as I’m sure some knights will attempt to attack this post since it requests a change to there so called perfect world.
