Seems like a barely veiled list of complaints.
Everything in MMOs tends to be rushed, because everyone is demanding everything yesterday. I don’t necessarily believe the elist specializations and masteries were rushed, for eample. It’s just a convenient word people use because they really don’t know if they were rushed.
However the map deisgn of the first 3 maps have far exceeded my expectations for them. I’m finding the masteries a lot of fun, and I’m definitely liking the story better, even though it was short (which I don’t necessarily equate with rushed).
I’ve said all along I feel like I’ve paid for a season pass. However, without raids and the new UI, I’m not sure there’s a point to be talking about how the expansion is so far.
I mean that stuff is due to be released in what? Six days?
Shrugs. The expansion is something that should, if all goes well, continue to grow in value. With what I have right now, I’m having fun.
Actually it’s the bugs that bother me the most but I haven’t had a crash since I started using the 64 bit launcher.
You paid for it and you installed it and are indeed playing it so yes you should be discussing it as it is currently. Season Passes don’t exist for this genre and for good reason so there is no reason to pretend. Also this is Anet and its only going to be one raid coming soon. This says that the so called future content will be nothing more than the stuff that should have release with HoT so I’m sure they will be releasing nothing but the missing raids for months. What if a person doesn’t like raids!? If anet is going to be developing the missing raids there more than likely going to neglect everything else this isn’t a very competent dev its Anet so even if they say they have teams the end result never reflects that so raids are thee expectation.
I don’t count the three maps we have as proper though….
There just like Orr and Southsun
DS is indeed like DS and SW
Guild Halls should be in the mists not actual world maps slots however I can see why they did this because GvG agasint guilds with the exact same map wouldn’t make any sense unless it was in the mists and thus no GvG at all.
HoT ruined the old content by nerfing dungeons, reformatting recipes, and making things like the CMD pointless when compared to the Mentortag.
Some may disagree but a proper map in my book for this game has quests aka Hearts. Those three maps are just like Orr cept with a good deal less dragon minions and no feeling at all that your actually closing in on a Dragon…
I can’t say that and expect from you to accept my opinion , but old Tyria was not even making you try to dodge, ever.
- 0 effort
- No meaning of your build
- No challenge unless some1 made a challenge like “i want to mine 5 nodes” pardon me?
- Player decisions didn’t matter
- Enemy were and they still are easy, the only real NPC enemy is Sniper Mordremoth, love it!
GW2 Core was the worst gaming experience in PvE that i’ve sad simply due to content that was made on Level 0. How hard is to kill first mob, that hard was end content. ZERO.Sorry mate, nothing personal, but how can people enjoy that kind of content where nothing matters?
EDIT: I forgot to mention mastery, you only have to work for them once, after you visit maguuma for the 2nd time, it’s so kitten easy, that you need no effort and it actually becomes very casual content. U’ll see, just give it a time ^^
Yeah get one max level toon and then every toon gets insta power….
How can you say GW2 was too easy when after you get your masteries HoT is non-existant?
Alts and new characters have zip to do in HoT as once you hit level 80 in the core your done there is no need to go to HoT you have all the masteries and have already played the story. The game will grow stale incredibly fast masteries should require a much smaller grind and shouldn’t be account bound. People will quite beforehand because there bored because masteries force you grind the option of choice is removed. The people who do complete it will leave because they grind in 4 maps and they have no reason to return to these maps even for alts. Orr and other places are still crawling with Alts the same won’t be true for HoT. There is a difference between easy and nonexistant furthermore GW2 launched with dungeons and many world bosses. HoT will apparently have no such thing until an update and future patches will probably just be raids and will be the coffin for those who simply don’t like raids.
So HoT is and will be sad for a great deal of people if not now but in the future…
I’m not the only one. Look at all the other posts, or try to go and play some missions and you will see how terribly wrong they are.
Not being the only one doesn’t make you some kind of majority. My guild had problems with the old guild missions. We often didn’t get credit for puzzles in the old guild missions, a problem that was never quite fixed. That’s guild credit, to be clear.
There was no reason to do treks before, but some people in my guild enjoyed them.
To be fair, there are bugs, but there are always bugs when things change. When the bugs are fixed, the new version will be fine…for some of us anyway.
You just used bugs as an excuse for why you hated the old missions and then said the new version will be fine because bugs will get fixed? If people didn’t get credit before then it makes no sense that the bugs will finally get fixed this time around.
They just added a ton of new bugs on top of the old ones an now we have twice as many bugs
I’d have to agree
New missions are fine but why did they have to alter the old missions!?
Yup
This is the worst expac I’ve ever purchased a handful of skins gated behind merchants and forcing people into old content is something I’ve never seen in an expansion.
Masteries that force you to grind exp in old content, new titles and achieves that are tied to killing old bosses(Killer Queen), fluff launch by releasing next to holiday event, and artificially extending by a raw exp.
There were no new dungeons, no raids, or drops from mobs of any consequence. They nerfed the old dungeons tweeked the old fractals and world bosses and loaded the cash shop with new skins that should have been included with HoT. The story can be beaten in less than 2 hours more so when you calculate grinding for the mastery gates but that’s a one time deal so your alts will have it done faster than even Orr or a few dungeon runs. The gave a great big middle finger to vets with things like mentor tag V CMD tag and then they gave a great big middle finger to new players by increasing the costs of old mats and making old recipes harder to craft.
I play quite a deal less than I did prior to the expac and I even come to these boards less much to the delight of the Troll Knights who both have the same goal of watching this game die and delight in people leaving.
These tides are a normal occurance and this one has pulled way to fast they can eitehr leave more or leave less people playing when they are over.
For are these people stating you can still find people in the maps this is megaserver system for all the different servers there can literally be but one map active when compared to the past when every server had its own map. So simply seeing people isn’t an accurate gauge at all because you can see 20 people on the 7th overflow map or the orginal map. Unlike in Gw1 we don’t know how many overflows are created however I do know I’m constantly given the chance to join a more active map and that pop-up has become a common sight.
LFG for dungeons have all but vansihed, WB are a rare sight these days, only 1 or two groups for SW, and even when Teq comes rolling around there are far fewer people giving a taxi. The greatest of which is WvW even with the new maps its a ghost town I don’t even see enemies these days when roaming around. WvW is the only thing still tied to the original server and I feel like I’m the only one on my server and I’d like to craft another legend but I can’t even farm the shards because groups simply don’t exist. Used to be every dungeon had at least 2-3 groups yet these days it’s only on dungeon for a mastery grind and we don’t even have people selling runs anymore.
Once again you don’t base these things on the PVE maps we have far fewer maps with the megaserver system and unlike Gw1 we can’t know how many overflows exist at one time or another.
Also the forums are most definitely drying up the TC created this topic two days ago and were still on page 1 closer to launch this would’ve had quite a deal more posts with trolls and white knights but it seems the rational people have all but abandoned ship.

We don’t need mounts we have..
Swiftness, SuperSpeed, Traits, Skills, Runes, Food, Gliders, Mushrooms, and more or less way to much twisting and bending and clutter in this game just to replace the concept of a mount.
Cut the clutter and add mounts and I forgot to mention tyria in city masteries for town speed. They can cut mount clutter the same way they cut mini clutter when too many people are on the map they either go invisible or you simply can no longer see everyone elses mount.
Add in mounts remove the Traits, Weapons, Skills, Runes, Shrooms, and so forth and make each of those items worth using cause to many people kitten there builds just for the sake of 25%-33% movement speed.
It’s actually disturbing the extent people go to for speed and yes add it to wvw end the trend of constant swiftness and mesmers carrying focus or guardians with there staffs just to get the Zerg from point A to Point B.
You only see mesmers roaming because they all have travelers runes, traited(Chrono), Signet, Focus, and teleports. With mounts things will be balanced out even if the new maps aren’t that great for roaming. In PvP I make it the cap first because I am a mesmer and can cap faster than any other class do to my speed. no mounts in PvP but movement should probably be normalized a bit.
The only thing that should be removed is the RNG. Anet said the Legendary is obtainable by any player as long as they are willing to put the effort into it. I myself would rather grind the materials than buy them. It feels more like a real accomplishment than something I viewed as an annoyance and decided to throw money at.
I also understand why we must visit certain world bosses and hope for certain things to happen. This is to keep players in Old World Tyria and playing together as a team. Otherwise old content would become empty.
Has anyone been in the Silver wastes lately? I went there a few days ago (albeit on a weekday) and there were a total of 5 people on the entire map. It’s happening already. So Anet has done a good thing, we the players who live in this “I want it now generation” just don’t realize it yet.
What silverwastes did you go to? I see full silverwaste maps all the time, and taxis left and right on LFG.
Everyone was in HoT back then but HoT maps don’t have any retaining power and most people get completely burned out on them farming the same events over and over again for masteries. Once they’ve got there masteries they go back to SW because SW has retaining power and is actually a bit more fun than the events on the newer maps.
If you can’t farm tier 2,3,4,5 wood (example from Bifrost collection, probably the most expensive one), the I would like to see how you farm T6, lodestones, gold, and all the other requirements for full legendary.
I say, material costs of precursor collections are reasonable. Just chill and do it slowly…one ascended mat per day + PvP and wvw dailies for those new tokens.
Bifrost collection?
Lets see RNG drops from the Jotun then at t3 we have those RNG drops from the coral need a great deal of those in fact. Also been seeing people complain about the sheer amount of RNG involved with bifrost pre when there are others that are much worse. No one cares about the mats or the costs on that one the people who are complaining about mats and costs are those trying to craft pres that are literally cheaper to simply buy than to craft.
In the end people should just buy them there isn’t any RNG, Imbalance, group play, or any of the complaints made against crafting when you simply just buy the thing. It’s even faster becasue you can farm specific areas for the mats over and over again or you can just play the game for gold and sell whatever comes your way for even more gold.
I do feel sorry for the people who started pre crafting because all these complaints in the forums are people that simply went to far to give up.
That’s just a picture of a Sylvari with selfless potion, Tier 2 cultural, and wielding Sunrise.
Part of the reason people are so negative these days is because HoT is basically incomplete it’s missing some core components expansions typically come with right out of the box. End game modes basically there are no raids or dungeons in HoT and no Fractals specific to it. They say future content but that future content is just raids which should have already been in to keep people busy instead of grinding masteries.
To answer your question though neither the legendary armor or the new legendaries are even in the game as of yet. The weapons are coming eventually and legendary armor is tied to raid content and without actual raids we don’t have any information to even datamine what the armor could even look like in the end.
Also not to burst your bubble but I don’t think legendary armor will be all that great to look at in the end. Ascended gear looks the way it does so people will transmog it or buy transmutation items or skins on the market. If legendary armor was the be all to end all design wise then Anet would lose money off of skins. More for the changeable stats I’d say when it comes down to whether or not a person would want it but then again without info or raids I simply cannot say and this is mere speculation.
Condi Staff trying to Chrono?
If that’s what TC wants I have a fool proof guide to killing anything in HoT with a staff
Step One – Trait to Chrono
Step Two – Fluff pillow
Step Three – Create 3 staff clones
Step Four – Take a nap cause with minion changes those three staff clones are just going to auto kill everything as well as buff allies
Step Five – When the target dies or by a miracle a clone dies return to step 3
Saw it was about to buy it but it’s only wings nothing else…
The Dragonfly wings are just a backpack no where on the item does it even mention them being usable for a glider skin.
Why do they even bother making wings that can’t be used as wings at this point it’s just like the butterfly wings yet the bat and angel wings can be used for gliding.
For the record I went with a more insect/bug/arachnid theme on my main still waiting a mail/pick/scythe but at this point I don’t see why we don’t have a glider?
Forums are drying up
Overflows are on the decline
WvW is a literal desert which made it so much easier to map
The white knights are getting what they want and that always leads to the death of any MMO. They dwell in the forums attacking all opinion instead of playing because there goal is that people shouldn’t play and it should be only them.
Going to bring up WoW if your not subbed into WoW you can’t post on the forums this game needs such a thing. The white knights always dry up with such barriers in place because it’s the people who actually play the game and know the actual problems who make the most complaints. A single barrier is all it takes to flush out the company can do no wrong group because this is just a form of psychology meant to push people out of the game its like they say if you don’t like it then leave which is what they desire.
I wasn’t expecting an easier cheaper method of doing it.
Shouldn’t it be cheaper, though? If it’s no cheaper than buying it through the TP, then what is the purpose of this?
For it to exist it’s not cheaper, faster, or even involve less RNG though it does give achievement points.
You can spend months farming mats for pre or you spend months farming gold to buy the pre the difference is gold can be aquired while playing naturally doing whatever you want to do. While farming means farming specific maps/mats and your cut off daily by the CD if your making those type of mats.
Welcome to the world of Precursor crafting
Your problem is that you expected it to be a none RNG method like some people expected it to be a cheaper, faster, or merely a method that can be done solo.
Nope it’s there just to drain all of your mats the Bifirost needed like 40 spiritwood planks or something I think. Well those are daily CD items that can’t be used to craft legendary armor and any future items. Like the Damask Patch to drain leather from the economy this is just mats and to get you to stay on longer because the mats you don’t have you’ll be on for hours farming them or draining gold buying them.
The whole point was that it was supposed to be a non-rng way of crafting it.
That can’t be right Anet is the one who implemented it after all
I know the Bifrost crafting and the TC is being to kind before the RNG account bound item from coral he had to farm Jotun at different locations because each kessig had an RNG account bound drop from the local Jotun. Though the RNG drop rate at tier one is no doubt higher than tier 3 and on top of that many other people crafting have mentioned there is quit a deal of RNG the whole process is loaded with it.
There is no point and as actions speak louder than words and three years with Anet you base it on what they do not what they say. Seeing how Precrafting like I stated earlier can be more expensive than buying it on the TP, contains RNG, can be more timely, and literally fails at any other reason people have made up for it’s inclusion the only answer is it exists simply to exist and people can’t ask for pre crafting anymore because it exists. TC will eventually get his RNG mats just like someone flushing might eventually get a pre it’s all a matter of time management.
The only method that doesn’t involve RNG on the part of the player is the TP because someone else got lucky and decided to sell it. That said all the Pre’s are different some can be done solo while other demand a group, some are cheaper to be made and some are cheaper to be purchased, and some require a great deal more RNG than others which makes it harder to defend because there is always a pre that counters.
It’s over unless Thakery has a seed planted in him and which point WOOHOO!!! we get to kill Thakery!!!
Sylvari can’t be turned into Branded, Undead, or Corrupted which are all beings infused with the dragons will or whatnot. Primordious has his own deal the Destroyers that said there are no Mordrem controlled Chak and plenty of salt water under Tangled Depths(or fresh who knows it has Piranhas but also has Jellyfish and Tuna) and off the coast of Dragons Basin. So next Dragon might be Bubbles if the Chak are indeed his/her minions.
Mord’s fight was better than Zhatian but Zhatian’s had the theme and setting you actually felt like you had to fight to reach him. Also if Zhatian was parked next to Rata Sum he wouldn’t just leave it be like Mord Zhatian corrupted all the maps around him.
if i ONE more time see someone compare HOT content to WoW expansion Content i gonna rip him apart.
just to keep this short:
WoW expansion content = more crap conent 90% of them loose its porpuse the momment your geared thats like hmmmm a week after release and ALL the zones and 5 mans you never gonna step into hell for zones you even forget they exists once you level up to max.Hot on the other hand have less but WAAAY more meaningfull content. All the zones constantly reward you with something for doing different events that are on nonstop and changing no mater how well geared or what level you are. and it will stay meaningfull for YEARS not just a freaken Week.
i Won’t go into it deeper but these people kitten me off.
While you clearly dislike WOW you can’t possibly argue with any credibility that WOD wasn’t far better value for money in terms of total content and I’ll keep saying it to keep you kittened off.
You also cite GW2’s XP grind as a positive thing “All the zones constantly reward you with something”, all they reward are HPs as part of the Elite grind, yet you no doubt would deride WOW’s Jungle grind as something different: it’s not, you just want to paint it so to bolster your agenda that GW2 is great and WOW sucks.
wod is the worst expansion to date
absolute 0 content with 0 rewards outside of raid or die.
WoW with wod lost like 6-7 milion players that tells something.
i regret buying it and 70% what they promissed on blizzcon in WoD they never delivered or simply canceled.i freaken regret buying it.
better money ? if you like throwing out money into a trashcan then yes good for you.ALSO it seems like Legion will be their last chance to redeem the game if its not REALY good with allot of pve and pvp content and some totaly new stuff the game will sink faster then the titanic.
thx to wod they lost players in record speed and its allready on an all time LOW
ONE more thing in HOT we will get more content nonstop where in WoW you need to wait whole seasons and years for even a small useless zone or even for the SIMPLIEST Easyest but most broken balance changes.
event SWTOR is a more quality game then wow atm
WoW was my favorite mmo but blizz started to show the middlefinger to players.
and started to lie left and right.
they delivering less and less with every expansion for more money.
Someone hit a nerve and Blizzard was destined to go down hill after Lich King anyway they merged with Activision that year and every expansion has gotten worse and worse ever since.
WoD was bad to be sure the worse expansion I’d have to agree with however I’d still rate WoD higher than HoT. You mention HoT getting constant content but that’s obvious becuause it offered a skeleton at launch no dungeons no raids and your only going to loot one weapon set from mobs reclaimed. Core classes got nothing and elites like Druid don’t match up with the playstyle of its origins. WoD added new skins and skills for all the classes and a home base that makes GW2 Home instance seem non existant. WoD didn’t increase the cost of old crafting recipies by altering them nor does it force people back into old content as a means of progression.
In terms of WoW the expansions WoD was a travesty it lost millions but WoW is the king of MMO’s whose totals outnumbered all others. So even a crap expansion like WoD can shed millions of players though personally I blame the Cash Shop and Blizzard recycling old skins and all the new items being pushed onto the cash shop for the reason. Grinning Reaver should have been a quest chain for the laughing skull and pre expansion the mount no doubt would have been but its just a Cash Shop item just like so many other items. Even through all that it still tops all other MMO’s in term of subs.
WoD is bad in terms of WoW but not bad at all when compared to other MMO’s if Legion is good it will do damage unless other MMO’s like this one pick up there game. We will have months of released content yes but raids should’ve been in HoT day one and forcing people to farm three maps for masteries or old content along with the many other problems with HoT will see more people leave before raids even come into the picture.

I wasn’t expecting an easier cheaper method of doing it. I know that from the start before doing this journey. I know anet will do their best to maintain their strong value point in black lion but to expect that you have to pay god knows how much versus time involved in hoping to get lucky after 300+ corals that can only be found 3 times in a specific map only to get 4 after that amount is not fair.
Expecting an entire mob of players to not blind the shatterer mob and the shatterer to incase you in crystal in the 5 – 7 minute event. That only respawns every 2 hours plus the fact that he can be blinded making his attack miss.
So go ahead criticize me for being mentally upset. Cause I am upset instead of enjoying the rest of the game I am stuck underwater looking for corals watching the shatterer timer in windowed mode. HOPING he hits me. GO defend this level of design and say that this is proper gameplay.
Whoosh~
If you think that’s critism then you must be really thin skinned. Everyone who had any expectations of precrafting being anything positive has already given up. Yes Bifrost needs a bunch of RNG account only items but it’s not the only precrusor to do so. The design is bad design and everyone knows it the waves of posts have already made it through the system.
If you don’t want RNG, excessive grinding, spending a lot of time, grouping, or spending to much gold then the only option is to farm gold and buy it. Seen in countless posts like this one and the final answer is always the same the best way is TP which is neat because some crafting methods use up more gold and materials than the actual value on the TP at this point.
Never said you were complaining about gold your post was about RNG in pre-crafting and so are a number of other RNG heavy precursors some of which require more RNG as well. Pre-crafting does nothing more than exist so people can say it’s finally in the game.

I like TD and yes it’s a bit all over the place to a degree but it uses effective use of it’s space. Also I love the mob density and the underground bits this map stands out above all the new maps because it differs the most from all pre-existing maps. Ask for Mounts to run through the mobs or get speed shrooms if you have problems with it which are the same thing sort off.
Auric Basin has a massive empty city taking up the center of the map the canopy and underground are barely developed and that object taking a huge chunk of the map probably would’ve been better suited at the canopy level and a flying city at that then they could use the ground level to add a bit more map and actual gameplay. More or less I feel Auric doesn’t use it’s space wisely.
I don’t really count Dragon’s Basin as a traditional map and if I did it would probably be the worst one. Zhatian curropted maps for miles his influence was all ovver the place and you had to fight through multiple maps just to get to him. That feeling wasn’t in HoT at all and the fact that Rata Sum is directly beside Dragon’s Basin just makes the entire thing worse. This new maps had a light sprinkling of Dragon Minions and four maps was simply way too few for they should have at least had an entire map dedicated completely to Mord to show his influence and power over the area and that you had to fight through his hordes to reach him. I expected something on par to the story missions traveling through Orr and what I got was just completely disappointing from that regard.
Yup
Verdent Brink
Auric Basin
Tangled Depths
Dragons Basin
None of those maps have any staying power or make any sense for that matter. Zhatian corrupts that land for miles in all directions you felt like you actually had to fight to reach him. Mord has like a sprinkling of light minions and sits right next to Rata Sum and one map over from the main deal not a trace of influence at all.
At any rate once people get there masteries they’ll bail on these new maps and probably return to either sitting in LA, WB train, DT, WvW, Fractals, Raids, or SW. I just don’t see people flooding these maps months from now or dungeons either as they currently stand.
Drop Rates!?
For what!? this is an “Expansion” and after playing through the entire thing I can say drop rates don’t matter because there is no epic loot or anything worthy dropping from monsters. Grind for that drop rate like Anet wants but nothing drops aside Reclaimed but other than that single set that spans the four zones your not going to be looting any new skins or items like you would in a normal expac.
They didn’t just bash the Drop fairy over the head they never added an loot to begin with….
It’s bad becuase it’s bad nothing more nothing less
Also LoL at the idea that happy people are too busy enjoying the game to be bothered with forums while people with complaints flood the boards.
If that is true then why are all these people on the boards I mean if HoT is such a glorious work of art shouldn’t the people saying such things be playing and having fun. Shouldn’t the white knights who’d rather not try to fix the game be playing the game like they say they do.
People complain because they have the right to complain and they make there voices heard to make the game more enjoyable for all players. Your typical white knight is also an elitist and many MMO have fallen to peices by taking the words of elitist over the commom gamer aka Da Casuals.
Gw2 is full of refugees from other MMO’s and people critic to improve.
As for WOW yes WOW does expansions better because they do traditional expansions. WoW doesn’t rely on old content to push there expansions and if they do the old content is altered. You don’t farm old dungeons to unlock new things and forcing people to grind 3 year old content isn’t making anyone happy. People grinding old dungeons and events to force the exp in. Also for WoW they do this little thing called new LOOT. I went through three days of HoT without once getting any new skins and on the third day a friend managed to get a reclaimed axe. Since then I’ve gotten 4 reclaimed skins and everything else is old loot from from old content dropping in a new map. There is no loot no reward in HoT for farming all these mobs relentlessly and what game dares to call itself and expansion and yet doesn’t have new loot. Skills as well as for instance not every Ranger wants to be heals and yet we got an expansion without new skills because a Ranger who doesn’t want to heal or a Warrior who doesn’t like Condi isn’t going to get any new skills.
HoT is a game that calls itself an expansion in which core classes got zero new skills and the only loot that drops is from a single weapon set through the entire story. not armor no or anything just farming for no epic loot to force feed masteries. Oh yeah no new dungeons either and raids aren’t even released yet old dungeons got nerfed and they changed old recipes to give a great big middle finger to new players. I crafted my ascended armor a good while ago but good luck now as Damask Patches sell for 25g. Might as well give my best of wishes to those making a legendary too since finding a group to gather shards is harder than ever these days. I have both my Legend(Quip) and ascended armor(Cloth) so none of this is QQ for myself but rathers Anet’s disdain for new players.
Lastly condition builds get wrecked by raptors as I’ve seen it myself. You spread conditions and before they tick your dead then you rally then you die then you rally and then you die then those condi’s kill off another raptors and no more rally your dead for good. Actually quite the sight to see and this happens in a matter a seconds. This matters because play-style for PvP, Raids, and Dungeons is one thing but casual PVE world map content is another and a condi player is better off running or rather has to run and kite anyway so might as well run.
Um – no! Neither of my necros (one power, one condi) or my engi (condi) has problems with them. Block + blind are your friends. Check your bar. – you may be missing a few skills. Which class are you having problems with with a condi build?
I said it’s funny to see as in I’ve seen it happen and it is funny it nearly happened me once but I used staff 2 when I rallied.
Also block and blind!?
Are you telling me that you literally altered your builds to incorporate block and blind for one single mob!? No person in any MMO should ever have to alter a build for the sake a single PVE mob.
Precursor crafting wasn’t put into the game to be cheaper
Precursor crafting wasn’t put into the game to be faster
Precursor crafting wasn’t put into the game to provide a none RNG method
Precurosr crafting wasn’t put into the game to provide balance
Precurosr crafting was put into the game as a Mat/Gold/Time Sink that keeps people logged into the game and drains the economy of access gold and mats. They supply of certain mats are already on the decline like then adding Damask Patches or when people stopped farming T6 this will just make them more expensive. Adding value to leather was the purpose of the Damask Patch and pre crafting will add Value to a number of mats and also push people into other modes of the game. Quip for instance requires you to enter several Fractals and either eat Candy Corn till you throw up or toss harpy love juice on the Fractal Bosses.
Also a number of Pre crafting recipies apparently require a great deal of RNG
GW2 ended with Zhatian
Season 1 while containing some bits I feel was filler also was only there for half since season one was all temp content.
HoT I feel started with Season 2
A new player would have to buy Season 2 anyway so SW, DT, and map changes might as well be included with HoT.
You bought HoT yes but this game lacks a sub and the deal set by season 2 and even season 1 means that if you play the game you’ll be getting free content till the next expansion. Those who were logged in during Seasons 1 and 2 got to play it for free and I see no reason why Season 3 will be no different. Season 3 will probably start the intro for the next expansion anyway and they might do season 1 also I doubt it will take three years for the next expac either more like 1.5-2 years seems rather normal.
Zerk or a Dps focused build can still work find for HoT stat wise.
You just have to bring in additional movement abilities, blocks, or ways to increase your Endurance.
That said personally I’m messing with my current build not going to add and tough or Vit but rather looking at increasing Concentration and Healing Power. Tough and Vit aren’t the only ways to increase survivabilty and as a Mesmer I can create a deal of regen already. Still haven’t messed with stats though and I won’t until more info is given about legendary armor.
Some group of mini dinosaurs: dead.
I’m totally with you on this. I hate those pocket dinosaurs. You can’t hardly outrun them, either. They seem to be everywhere in Auric Basin.
1) Learn to dodge when they attack
2) Avoid them
3) Kill themYou’re not supposed to outrun them or tank them.
It’s what make them a threat. They’re not decorations. You can easily use up your 2 dodges and still die, depending on the number on you at the time. Avoiding them is not always possible in some of the narrower passageways. Really, the easiest way for me to deal with them is to AOE them down.
Full on attack them.. They have like 2 hp each. Heal when your hp hits Hal or you will die, and do aoes. You sound like that person in the scary movies that just runs instead of punching the villain.
What you all fighting for ground mounts or something!?
If a person dies and has to waypoint and then run half way across all creation to make it back to the event because Anet in all there wonder and wisdom will literally drop you from an event because your inactive or lets say runnign across all creation to get back to the event. Then the last thing your going to want to do is fight a bunch of pocket raptors and every single mob that takes notice of you while trying to cover that distance.
A person exploring a map will probably and should indeed fight however it’s more than a week since launch and people have destinations, friends, and events there trying to make it too. There are no ground mounts the WP are spread much farther and yet the increased Mob density with tons of CC in addition to narrow corridors makes travel a complete burden.
So no fighting every mob you come across on your way to a destination is unreasonable however Anet deciding to nerf the mobs is also unreasonable in my eyes. So they either need to double the amount of WP’s which wouldn’t make sense lore wise with a dragon who has destroyed the things or add in safe ways for quicker ground travel. A glider doesn’t count for ground travel unless they pull an Aion also they really only matter for Verdent Brink anyway.
Have a friend who absolutely adored the scepter and of course bought it so I have no problem with it.
However RNG for keys for RNG for chest is BS
Even if they were I don’t understand the QQ everything depreciates even digital content. I’d love to meet some of these people complaining that prices got cheaper over time in the real world. Heck I still remember people QQ’n about core going free hell people are getting free goods right now at my Bank for signing up yet I get zip. My car depreciated like hell and does so every year and I’m not even going to get into insurance.
Basic point no one cares if the wings got cheaper you bought it early that’s what you paid for and sometimes that’s a good a thing heck a pre-ordered a Vader PS4 and since the PS4 is so old it literally got a price drop after the pre doesn’t ship till mid month but it’s another example of the basic principles of depreciation.
Also LoL you missed the sale and I’m not going to explain what a sale is either
Masteries have so much exp required for level becuase there account based if they were per character the grind would naturally be lessened.
However what do you tell the no life that has dedicated hours on end or the wimps who use exploitation or the snooty crowd who grind dungeons for hours on end then QQ about normal people who haven’t unlocked masteries yet.
I have a job and responsibilities I can’t be grinding masteries for hours on end part of the reason I play this game instead of others like WoW is becuase those other games are jobs and Gw2 is more casual. That said I wouldn’t mind if it was per if they lowered the exp for the sole reason I only have 1 toon I actually gear and that’s my main.
1.Balance the classes
2. All skills usable underwater
3. Aquabreather grants unique underwater buffs or cosmetic changes
4.Bring back the PvP map and area in PvP Lobby
5. Complete weapons sets by adding back the underwater weapons
6. Give classes access to all underwater weapons so they have some choice in the matter since we only have three and classes have two slots for two weapon slots and with the addition of the third weapon they have choice.
7. Flesh out the aquatic races Hylek, Quaggan, Largos, Krait, Karka
8. Speed up swim speed do a Zora scale deally for all I care to unlock
9. Leap out of water – like a Dolphin or something or ledge grap not all area are easy to exit the water. So a Leap will allow people to leap out of water in areas that are too steep to walk out off.
10. Underwater trait line or more traits with underwater secondaries.
11. undependant underwater trait line that takes into effect when your in the water.
12. More aquatic lore and Dragon minions I have a theory that the Chak are Dragon Minions but haven’t done all the quests in that area and a single Modrem Possesed Chak would shatter that theory. If not then they should be officially announced to build up hype. Only after allowing all skills to be used underwater, Balancing the skills, and opening up the third underwater weapon for use.
If underwater becomes an exploration deal then aquabreathers need to be removed
All in All usuable skills, balance, and Aquabreather stats are the compains I here the most*
I think your thread is a clever way to beat a dead horse.
Frankly, if Anet decide to make maps that purposefully waste my time so badly that I need a mount to get around, I won’t be going there.
This is hilarious, as Anet has indeed made that type of map, and it needs a glider “mount” to get around.
Getting around with a glider in a map with horizontal levels is not the same as needing a mount to cut travel time for vast expanses of desert nothingness. The only hilarious thing here is that you’re equating the two.
Oh? Gliders and wings are both considered “mounts” in EQ2. And another category.. jumpers.
Gliders are an equipped external means to travel. Mount.
As an aside, I ride my broomstick all over when bored. A mount. We have mounts.
Swiftness, Travelers Runes, Signets, Traits, and even Masteries all modify ground speed and that’s too much as is they need to implement mounts and wipe the board before the list of movement buff devices explodes in number. HoT does indeed count or how about go for a walk through HoT and see how many people are asking for a rez because they didn’t have speed boosts or the glider or even mushrooms to get around a swarm of pocket raptors. I don’t want Anet nerfing HoT so people can continue to make there dead horse remarks as I like the mob density and challenge. Might even help with people WP doing these major map events since WP’s are farther in HoT they might actually start using the WP system if they know they can make it back to the event before it ends.
Game is in sure need of mounts and and quickly as a matter of fact. Mounts have always been a cosmetic thing and the reason why mount requests have persisted since launch is because no one has ever given an adult answer to refute cosmetic claims.
However it goes further from that with HoT in that devas have gone out of there way to implement mounts without mounts. Mushrooms, traits, skills, runes, and masteries all exist to cover a mounts core duty is simply to much. HoT has a higher density of mobs and WPs are spread farther apart. We already have posts QQn about people not pressing the dead in more dangerous parts of the map. HoT shouldn’t become Orr I remember Orr as a map filled with mobs and ton if enemy CC and I don’t want HoT to become some kitten map. Speed is used to bypass mobs and people are forced to trait, rune, or place skills and weapons for that speed. If we had mounts people could bypass mobs to events without these silly running builds which is what they are and people refusing to wp during events because the wp is to far or other reasons wouldn’t be a problem. In my own case my main is a mesmer and I have travelers runes, focus, and signed of inspiration also while Chrono I have the mandatory 25% movement trait. With mounts none of that would be needed or probably exist. I’ve yet to get speed shrooms but its all to much to replace a simple thing like mounts.
Even with this HoT will no doubt be kittened because you can’t expect someone to change there build for the sake of speed. Yet the people who don’t are those who are picked off the tail end of a zerg or those zerged by mobs trying to get to an event or even those who refuse to waypoint.
Looked at it and tallied up the cost then decided to sell a bunch of stuff cash in the rest of my gems then farm for the remained of gold to buy it off the TP.
Bought be to my disappointment it dropped another 100g so in all the precursor I was after has dropped 200g in price since the implementation of pre-crafting.
Crafting takes time, energy, and gold which is actually comparable to farming the gold the difference between the two is you have more choice on the methods you take to acquire the gold. Which makes farming gold more appealing in my eyes.
Maybe not Alts but rather the character that offline guild members were playing with last time they were logged in. How often does a mid to large guild have every single member online at the exact same time anyway.
6 plus years seems like a long time I think it will be sooner than that though
It’s just a theory of mine which I really haven’t shared yet but there are no Modrem Chak in the gameto my knowledge. There was never an Undead/Branded/Corrupted Sylvari either and there is water under the Chak hive. The Karka originated from the sea yet remain on land as well the same is also true for all the other races pushed from the sea. Quaggans, Krait, Karka, and Largos can all move on land and none of the races are present in HoT to even clarify if the Chak are minions.
In other words my little theory is that the Chak are probably the minions of Bubbles the Water Dragon the do appear near an area dedicated to the study of Dragons and there is water present at that location. So who knows might be sooner than we think for water combat to get an overhaul.
And yet, the TP is still far and away the most effective way of doing it.
Point ENTIRELY missed. If you just want to buy it you’ve ALWAYS had the option to do so. They are not unhappy with the prices of precursors. Universal player satisfaction is NOT one of ANet’s goals. Collections being cheaper than buying one is also not a goal.
They didn’t add collections so you could buy a precursor. They added them so there was a non-RNG way of introducing them into the system.
Pushback against pre-crafting is going to be massive as soon as people start publishing the requirements. Your statement about none RNG method isn’t true as each precursor has a different so called journey. The Legend for instance can be done solo while the Chaos Gun forces you to group up and hunt down all the Fractal Bosses which would be difficult with this new individual fractals system they have as pugs stick around for a single fractal they no longer stick together till the random boss fractal occurs. Those aside I’ve heard a number of Precursors have a great deal of RNG involved by collecting rare achievement specific items from mobs. There are even a couple posts in the Forums about people complaining about RNG in there Precrafting. Some are cheaper and yet some are more expensive to craft than the actual TP prices. The system is anything but uniform and one mans complaint doesn’t cover all pres while at the same time defenders of the method can be torn apart because what there saying is only true depending on the pre. For the record I believe they said Zap was one of the pres with RNG in which you had to collect rare drop from iron nodes or something.
Doing the Hearts and Minds battle against Mordremoth after stopping the blighted versions of Rytlock and Majory the blighted version of Braham appears and when the reality shift appears at this point its hovering off the side of the map over the bottomless pit. If it helps my main is also Sylvari so this bug occured with a Sylvari main during the boss fight with choosing both Caithe and Canach to join for the fight inside the Dragons mind.
More or less the Reality Shift feature is floating over a pit and cant be reached.
I literally I don’t see the point in precursor crafting as it is currently
You can farm the mats and do the tasks to craft the precursor
or
You can farm the mats and then instead sell the mats and just buy the pre in half the time.
Precursor feels like more work than the weapon gift, gift of fortune, and gift of mastery combined and I feel those three things were about equal so I initial figured crafting a pre would be on par with creating gift of fortune or even the weapon’s own gift.
It’s been stated the cost of pre is about 100-50g from there current TP cost. Mats and time don’t matter because you’ll be doing about the same amount of time farming the gold though the crafting is left out so farming gold is simply hands down the best option available. Sell the mats and buy the Pre is the way to go.
Gold, Luck, or Crafting and it kind of sad when Crafting involves both huge amounts of gold and luck and yes some pre crafting achievements still involve luck.

Played GW1 and I only had three complaints with that game the lack of an Auction Hall, Achievements weren’t account bound which was horrible for an Altoholic and that the very last class I tried out after years of play turned out to be my absolute favorite(Paragon). Gw1 evolved from people, hench, hero’s, and mercenaries the class you played changed your involvement. Paragon for instance was pure micromanagement of hero’s since they were your sword for me while with other characters the roles would change.
Gw2 changed all that and there were no healers no hench or hero’s the game was much easier and fixed two of my greatest complaints. A feel good MMO that was in stark contrast to other MMO’s that felt like work. Despised temporary content with a passion and glad they removed it as with GW1 the game evolves. Gw2 was a casual and relaxing MMO even if you did fractals or dungeons the content was never work.
HoT however changed some things the entire thing feels like reading a book and then every two seconds having someone rip that book out of your hands and sending you off to work before you can continue reading. You can’t really complete the work ahead of time without spoiling since you need to know what masteries needed for the grind. No lifers have long since beaten the game and spoil tidbits in chat and forums which I’ve turned off chat. Bright side is HoT has excellent design as I and a friend of mine have noticed and felt an old school platforming vibe from the maps. Just the other day someone commented that Verdent Brink felt and looked like Mushroom Hill.
If I had to complaints about GW2 it boils down to two things elitists want things to be exclusive and timed but GW2 has more items and experiences of that nature than any other MMO. Season 1 and all that entails is an exclusive to vets also events such as SAB and the fact Holidays change every year there are even titles that new people cannot obtain such as Emissary of the Mad King. To much of the game is locked to veterans and lost to new people. Second is Paragon it doesn’t exist in GW2 and guardian doesn’t count as a class is defined by its core mechanics and the core mechanics of the Paragon. Dervish and Revenant are similar so I’m hoping Paragon gets reborn in a new class. For the record the core mechanics of the Paragon for those who didn’t know are the Echo, Shout, and Chant. The Guardian exists but the only skill it has that is in line with these is Virtue of Justice. Maybe a future Elite or a class all it’s own. Though I’d like to reset story and implement a race change as well but oh well…
Overall the game feels limited they take 2 step forward and one step back. Season one, giving us two new heal skills since launch then removing one, and not balancing water combat and instead removing it from PvP and not providing any new weaponry I’d actually like water combat if it was balanced and we could use all our skills underwater. in some form.
Didn’t they state the reward drop was to shuffle more people into Raids and Dungeons?
I couldn’t be for gold because that wouldn’t explain SW?DT remaining unchanged and so for the time being there will simply be a little less gold coming into the economy. That will indeed shake things up a bit however in time when the Raids are properly learned I have no doubt that those will be an alternative influx of gold into the GW2 economy.
As for now as stated previously in another post gathering.
Agreed
My main is a Sylvari and I find Sylvari just look strange in any armor that isn’t’ plant based. We only have three cultural armor sets and the twilight armor deal. With this change we would multiply the base plant based armor sets by 3 each and thus open up so many more combinations.
More importantly….
LIGHT ARMOR WOULD FINALLY GET PANTS!!!!!!
MEDIUM ARMOR WILL FINALLY GET A STANDARD SHIRT!!!!
NO MORE DRESSES AND TRENCHCOATS SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS!!!!!!
Agreed
My main is a Sylvari and I find Sylvari just look strange in any armor that isn’t’ plant based. We only have three cultural armor sets and the twilight armor deal. But separating outifts that gives me access to Chef and Wedding Dress cultural outfits. Currently I don’t own either but I would buy them if they were available. The wedding dress arms for instance would be worth the purchase.
GW2 is a feel good MMO the type of game you log into to actually relax and have a good time with friends. Other MMO’s like WoW are jobs and that type of thing leads to the toxic community you see in those type of MMO’s. The Casual as you so call it are the 99% of this game as elites know the system in this game isn’t for the hardcore since it boils down to timed dodges and rallying, If you know how to dodge you will never die regardless of class and even bads who are terrible with there class can take down any boss if they simply know proper dodging. Puts a rather glaring how in the concept of difficult content as even these so called impossible to solo events are soloable if you have your movement down.
All that said to state people were to busy playing the game is ludicrous because the compaints were specific enough to come from the very people playing the game. They experienced it by playing and thus the made there complaints known the white knight more than likely never played HoT they lack sympathy or empathy and none of there counters were specific enough to prove they actually experienced or even comprehended what the complaints were from the get go. The very reason the OP topic remains is that other people are satisfied with the changes so the number of complaints naturally will go down. Personally I still have one complaint which deals with dungeons the change to rewards has nothing to do with gold if that was the case they would’ve changed SW so white knights are invalid in there economy claims. The devs themselves stated it was to drive people into Fractals and which raids will no doubt cover if not increase the amount of gold into the economy once their up and running. Problem is dungeon shards for legendaries are still needed and people simply don’t do dungeons anymore a person can’t even find a paid run for Arah much less a group these days. PvP exists but I’d like another way to collect dungeon shards like shards of Zhatian since dungeons are basically ghost towns these days. I’m working on my 2nd legend and I have a friend who was excited about pre crafting but recently depressed since he can’t farm the 500 shards as he hasn’t found a dungeon group in days.
It’s the year 2015
All video games are like that aside a select few brands as no game launches complete or even playable half the time until the wave of post release patches. GW2 is no different in that regard as that’s just the way the game industry works now a days.
THEY DO NOT WANT TO CURB GOLD IN THE MARKET IF THEY DID THEY WOULD HAVE NERF SW AS WELL AS DT AND OTHER METHODS.
So stop using that excuse the reason has already been stated that they literally wanted to shovel people in raids and fractals. That actualy crub in gold comes in the forms of changes such as the inclusion of Damask Patches. Furthermore with less people running dungeons the legendary weapon gifts become harder to come buy and puts a dampen on the legendary market and all that it drives.
you have to be level10 because they don’t want a free to play player who would 1. troll players 2. don’t even know there skills and jump in pvp right away
If that’s the case then make free players have to be level 10.
Exactly F2p users already have restrictions placed on them so any idea that these changes were put into place because of F2p is invalid.
