ANET can't create good story final boss fight

I’d have to agree and at the same time disagree

Remember Scarlet? sure her death was also weak but the Toxic Tower that event showed people what Raids could be like in GW2 and ignited the fire proper for raids in this game. Little did we know raids would turn out nothing like toxic tower at all but at the end of the tower you had a boss fight that was at an instance portal that broke the zerg into smaller 5 man teams to tackle the thing.

That entire experience surpasses the Dragons in both getting to and dealing with them it also is what I think raiding in GW2 should have been.

Before the expansion hits how about everything that was promised
-A full set of legionaries
-Living world Season 1
-Fix the last expansion

With the expansion how about what brought me to GW2 in the first place(GW1)
-Templates
-Underwater combat plus weapon support
-Clone death mechanic (reason I picked Mesmer as my main years ago)

Finally something I can actually call and expansion meaning loot tables and rewards both big and small as their should be many new skins and skills and a world for everyone to move to instead of trying to revamp the old world your supposed to give them a new one. No expansion I’ve ever played has tried to spit shine old content and pretend it’s new. Old content should be nerfed since their will be fewer players and new content should be robust enough that people wouldn’t want to return so soon.

Can you link to where ANet promised that LWS1 would come back as permanent content? Because to my knowledge this was never promised to players.

I do think that templates will become a must when we get the next expansion, allowing us to quickly switch from one elite to another OOC or even to core class completely to quickly prepare for different types of encounters.

Would also like to see elite specs that provide true specializations for all classes into roles that they traditionally have not filled. Stuff like pure, selfish DPS for mesmer that takes no ramp up time. Make the new elite specs so that players don’t have to roll another class entirely to play a certain type of way (eg if they wanted a support and group heal based thief then eventually one of the thief specs should support something along these lines)

It was a statement made during the release of the story journal

Being a statement I’m not going to dig up a video or watch a bunch of their Youtube posts to dig it up. What I will do is link an earlier statement in which they simply stated they’d hope to add it. Which eventually turned into it will eventually be added in a later statement. Eventually means it can happen at any time since their is no cap on time but this isn’t Duke Nukem forever and I have no attachments to any of these characters as you go from destinies edge characters to being the boss of these nobodies which does dampen the over all experience. So it’s not to much of a stretch to not want to go any further in the story until proper backstory is given and why these people follow you it’s something I’d like and probably many new people before the next expac.

Also I agree with your take on Elite Specs though I’d want an easier method to change the stats on ascended gear. A change like that would require a change of stats each time you specced into it which would demand legendary armor or an easier way for ascended to change stats since it would have to be done so often.

[Suggestions] Future Elite Specializations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Everytime ppl mention new elite they tie the idea of it having a weapon not yet used by the class.

Maybe it could still use the same weapon but once you equip the elite traitline, the class could get new weapon skills.

That would just lead into so much anger though even somethign like Mesmer getting Pistol on the mainhand would lead to a massive backlash.

The reason is while it would be nice to get new skills on existing weapons it shouldn’t be tied to elites because that new weapon your class couldn’t use before also means a new legendary weapon skin your class couldn’t use before. So if a single class reused an existing weapon for legendaries then that class would get shafted an additional legendary skin compared to the others.

Some people making up legendary classes are even picking their weapon choices solely because that would give their class access to a certain legendary. For instance as a mesmer I’d like Moot and Dreamer since I think they fit and thus I use mace and short bow for my suggestions. An ele might want frostfang, thief might want twilight, and an engineer might want incinerator.

The new LA looks like it belongs in Cantha primarily the Luxons they should have simply rebuilt LA quickly into it’s same form rather than introduce this current thing we have now.

[LEAKED] Mesmer Elite spec MH axe

Axe?

Short bow, two handed hammer, or even the harpoon gun obviously after the disgrace of an offhand a two handed weapon is needed. It doesn’t have to be melter based as long as it’s not condi related the last thing we need is more ranged condi/unsustainable dmg.

The Mesmer is supposed to be a duelist class and while dagger fits that we would need it both main and off which leaves short bow I’m against main hand pistol because that doesn’t grant us another legendary and other skins to use.

Some weapons like main hand pistol and those that already exist for certain classes should just be added and excluded from being tied to elites because they already exist as a usable option for the classes.

Why does Lege armor have to be tied to Raids?

As much as this game shifts legendary armor should either be made near baseline or ascended armor should be easier to change stats on and stat combinations more readily available

Expense in creating these thing and neither does the work involved because they are paid services through the cash shop. If it sells it will pay for itself and being digital will lead to additional revenue in time.

Legendary gifts would be nice but I suppose those are components so what currencies like Sab baubles .

To be honest additional weapon slots right now we have two we can swap between in battle however the original gw2 had multiples. So why not add additional weapon slots for preparation as I carry ascended/exotic weapons I don’t use in my inventory to be swapped in when I change my build or enter a new mode. It would decrease space for many and add in extra utility.

Individual slots for eaters and cash shop items so mawdrey 2 princess and so forth in addition to cash shop bought items like aviator goggles would get a side slot. Using Warcraft as an example they would go under a toy tab of sorts

Update on the Economy

Hoarding?
Really?

I’ve taken enough college courses in economics to know the GW2 economy isn’t fine and has been a major problem with this game since it launched all those years ago. They say their stepping but they still have their thumb on it. Whether its to make sure the AH is stocked, keep a firm grip on the higher up items like legendaries, or even prevent people from flipping items. The economy in this game doesn’t flow as I can log in right now and no doubt have items in the AH I’ve put up ages ago.

The economy will remain in a bad shape until they put a cap on the amount of time you can keep an item in auction. You can’t keep an item indefinitely on a site or a newspaper without renewing it at which point you can alter your price and try again. The only bad side to this is reality as a person in the real world can make a lot of money flipping items. However in the digital world the concept of time doesn’t exist and they can flip hundreds of items for a profit in a single day. However having a 1% of extremely rich players isn’t as bad as the system we have now. All they can do with that money is fill their wardrobe their is no uber stat gear they can deck a guild out it. More importantly those people don’t have an off switch they may get tons of in game gold but they won’t really spend it since their constantly camping at the AH flipping so their rather self contained. A living gold distribution method that makes sure people get money for the items they post putting money in the pockets of the little man and making those with more money pay a higher price for the same item.

They should have taken a step back at launch

Bubbles

The ocean covers most of the planet and that which controls the waters controls the fate of all living things on land. Furthermore underwater combat is so neglected and underwater legendaries are so few no one could stand up to the fury that is bubbles right now.

Do the the spread of water over our planet it would also make sense for Bubbles to have the most access to ley lines and magical energies in general without needing to really compete since all the other dragons are on land.

Please go back to the old legendary system

Auction hall

The auction hall unlike every other game under the sun with a hall doesn’t have a 12-48hour time limit no auction is infinite. However in this game it is your items will stay for years. This is a veritible anchor for the economy people who have quit the game still have things up for auction.

This is relevant because legendaries are on the auction hall and their prices are anchored to the high points and Anet set legendary crafting prices to those of the broken auction hall. Legendary crafting and the economy at large wouldnt’ be so bad if this minor detail was changed prices would actually change with supply and demand quickly and they’d wouldn’t revert afterwords. Would also remove access gold from the repostings.

As some have stated there never was an old system but the prices on the AH are still set to those old inflated prices. The only thing this new method does is increase the burden it’s beyond obvious that this new method takes additional work since they require new events and a crafting tree to implement. The workload for each legendary would increase since its additions to what we used to have. Meaning more time energy and money that Anet doesnt’ want to spend. In the end though even if all that extra work didn’t exist I don’t think we would get new legendaries anyway with how things have been going. A new legendary even though its less work is like getting a new dungeon. There always abandoning things and working on the next thing that will also be abandoned shortly after.

Mount Idea

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Mounts should have been implemented at launch

Swiftness, mushrooms, signets, skill, traits, masteries, and so forth that give speed should never have existed and all the time and energy they wasted implementing systems to replace the mounts would have been better spent on other aspects of the game.

To little to late now though all people ever really wanted was an additional fantasy aspect of a matching mount to their cosmetic choices. As for myself I just wanted them to have a simple baseline speed function that doesn’t mess with my choice of skill, traits, or so forth on my bars but your stuck altering a perfectly good combat build in order to get any sense of speed since the launch of this game. A Mesmer needed travelers runes, focus, signet, or even becoming a chrono in order to get any sort of speed or movement. None of that would be an issue at all if we had a mount movement system early on.

Furthermore I don’t think TC is really beating a dead horse there are many new players and many vets who have left so to them its a new game and its a new horse and their repeating and asking for the same things people have asked for since the launch of this game. The outcome will be the same for these new players as it was for the older ones and the neglect will continue.

Templates existed in GW1 and has been a request since launch all those years ago. Many people won’t respond to this or others since they’ve seen this posts for years.

As for myself I check in from time to time to see if they ever expand on the actual gameplay you know more skills, weapons, and junk and less emphasis on keeping it small and none flashy for the e-sport crowd.

I’m replying to this just to let you know how very ancient your simply request happens to be as like I said it was indeed a feature of gw1.

Doam.8305

This games economy was designed from the very start all those years ago to be broken and unfixable without the entire thing being taken down and all the items removed from the cash shop and recreated.

It was seen at the start of the game and nothing can be done without a complete overhau or rather a simple change.

The Auction House system is were the fault lies in this game because unlike the system that works in every other game Anet decided to change what wasn’t broken at all. There is no 12h, 24h, or 48h auction limits the whole point of an auction is that it isn’t eternal your buying time to try and sell your goods and in Gw2 once the listing price is paid that item stays up for an eternity people who have literally quit the game ages ago still have items on the auction house. Items which are set to the highest points of inflation the economy in this game doesn’t breath it’s not free and isn’t a real economy.

It will never right itself and the inflation will never stop until the missing basic function of every auction house real or otherwise is added to this game. That being your auction can actually fail to sell thus mailing the items back to you.

Why not just move to a full DLC model?

Doam.8305

It is your opinion that HoT didn’t meet your personal expectations. Please don’t presume to speak for the rest of us.

they objectively couldn’t deliver what they have promised.

The expansion was supposed to come out with a full raid and a set of new legendaries out of the box. So many months in, new legendaries got outright canceled and the raid is only getting finished right now.

Actually you got that completely wrong. Anet outright stated before release that the raid and the legendary weapons would come in staggered releases after the expansion. The only problem is that we might never be getting the weapons.

Plus, everything else (except LS3) has been delivered. Moreover, if ANet’s delivery is an issue, how would that change by going to any other system (subscription, DLC, whatever) — if they can’t deliver, isn’t it moot what they offer?

Exactly

What troubles me is people defending Anet for taking back previous statements just prior to the release. Also after the pre-orders were already in full swing. You don’t promise features in a product get the consumer base and investors riled up and talking about your product and months after then state you’ve had to strip the features you’ve touted after all that free hype and coverage. The did a tour across most of the major gaming events and made numerous pushes and then when everything was said and done come out with lists of things that won’t happen.

That’s not how the world works and defending such action just because they came out and quietly stated it after screaming it to the world doesn’t help anything.

Whatever method they choose doesn’t matter it’s about the quality of how and what they stated and are delivering. There is a reason why they’ve been tight lipped about LS3 they wish not to overstate what’s possible but the fact that they can’t comment shows a lack of direction in the first place.

Did they give a release window for LS3?

NO official date but they want to take their raids and E-sports to an all new level. That’s right the content could very well be ready to ship for all we know but they’ll probably release it the week of the next WoW expansion or a week that another competing MMO is releasing something maybe they will take another world tour of the big gaming events first like with HoT.

2h axes and the combat

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Seems serious enough to me you have to remember even though 2-h Axes have been asked for since the launch of the game nothing has really changed. New players can easily have the exact same requests and questions as the old players since nothing ever gets changed or resolved. So new players will constantly be coming in and out through it’s lifespan asking for such things.

As for the combat needing improving this game launched in 2012 and it’s the year 2016. The game is dated and many new MMO’s have been launched that have already surpassed this games combat system. So a new player coming from another game askign for such a thing is reasonable.

Problem is this game is balanced towards e-sports and that means things like them toning down visual flare so people can see better, keeping the skill list low so the viewer can know the skill thats being used since it’s not a large skill pool. Keeping weapon count low for same e-sport reason and so forth.

They haven’t expanded on the combat because they ’ve capped everything to their Esport desires where everything must be kept small and manageable.

As for TC’s question I don’t think Anet will ever expand on the depth of the combat system in fact they’ve shown the opposite tightening things down. Stripping things like Anti-Toxin Spray and Clone Death Mechanic while toning down skills effects and putting a halt to underwater. Even Legendaries which did change how your skills actually look have been ended.

I see what your asking for with Diablo 3 you’d like to swap lets say GS 1 on a Mesmer to be a physical attack instead of a ranged attack which would add depth to all the weapon types and allow for more skill creation by allowing a set pool of skills per weapon to be swapped out and changed like utility skills. However we don’t even have complete sets for utility skills such as no illusion heal or illusion elite exists.

It would be great to have that extra level of horizontal progression I just don’t think it will ever happen. That expands on the core class and right now it seems their model is based around OP elites that force people to buy the next expansion. Also while yes Elites were added they kinda balance everything back to normal by not being adequatly balanced to the core classes. A Chronomancer for instance has skills added too not changed from the core Mesmer meaning your still basically left with a single class playing that core role in pvp.

Did HoT ruin GW2?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

But of course

We had issues prior to HoT but people still had hope and expectations of what the game could become with a more focused vision. An expansion was a make or break deal where many ideas are taken and bundled together to show people Anet vision for the game. Many people were let down and those were primarily vets. Old guilds vanished as it’s old guard turned away new guilds took their place and new players came but in smaller quantities. To make the matters worse as can be seen on these very board these new players are asking for the exact same things the veterans have asked for since the launch of the game. Some people may take these posts for trolling since the topics have been seen for years but these are usually new players fresh to the game seeing the exact same issues and coming up with the exact same solutions and thus making similar posts.

The whole April update argument doesn’t hold any water either as people are talking about a slight fix months after the fact. Sure they could have left HoT as is and not change a thing but this is a business a corporate power and larger companies have suffered greater losses in the span of time from the HoT launch till the April patch. It’s completely unrealistic to expect people to turn a blind eye to the past. The brand is damaged and Anet has a soured reputation people don’t care that they stated they will be quiet about the next quarterly patch and people don’t care for fixes that come months after the fact.

I suppose another question could be is it HoT or was it the late response and lack of communication after HoT. People who left don’t want to hear that things can be soloed now or that things are different after months of silence after the launch. They look and they will see Raids and they will see E-sports along with dungeons, underwater, fractals, and so forth tossed under the bus and forgotten because Anet is on their next big kick.

Constant instability with lack of focus or vision seems to be the direction of this game and Anet is aware of this as they’ve stated numerous times that they’ve been working on systems upon systems to make things more streamlined but then they toss out those systems to create more systems.

The expectations were cemented with HoT and veterans lefts I’ve heard from some who have been gone for years who have returned which is completely possible with a game without subs like GW2 for people to return. That the game doesn’t evolve even with HoT if a person who started at launch who took a break maybe 1-2 years after that launch and logged back in today they will see new modes like raids and whatnot. However their class is unchanged, the dungeons are the same, now new types of weapons have been added, very few armor sets in an endless sea of outfits, play-styles removed, people expecting trinity roles(Raids), Season 1 garbage littering the maps, and worst if all everything is both balanced, designed, and capped to their E-sport deisres. While E-sports did the most damage it was HoT that was the final straw for many people. Things have been added to the world(Raids) but the world really hasn’t changed other than this becoming an endless endgame of grinding shopping lists and hoping no more pvp balance changes ruins your class even further in other aspects of the game..

Why not just move to a full DLC model?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Everyone is correct however ignoring a basic issue

This is Arenanet but it’s not the same company that made GW1 or rather the same staff and you can’t expect GW1 style quality from GW2. Expansions or DLC both methods are perfectly fine when done properly.

People ask for another method when their not satisfied but if a company can’t satisfy your desires with one method they typically won’t do much better with another. The DLC was unfulfilling people wanted larger maps tehy wanted Cantha and Elona so they asked for an expansion to add many new skills, gear, areas, and mechanics.

However they couldn’t handle that and even the fix came months after the launch even SAB felt like a bone to hold people over instead of a gift. I don’t think they will do well with either method. We don’t even have any info on the summer patch are they holding it for Legion release or more game events maybe some big esports announcement.

Until we know more about this next quarterly patch I remain skeptical but people will continue crying for either method because they seek something that could be possible with a better companion but they have to remember what we’ve seen these last four years and what to expect. If we were ever satisfied no one would be asking for either.

Has ANet Forgotten the Casual Gamers?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Think of it this way. For years they’ve focused on us and the hard core guys have gotten nothing. Content takes time to make. So they are filling in the blanks now. But next month, most likely. the LS begins again, a new fractal is coming, it just can’t all be done at once.

That’s neat and all but they’ve built and established a base of casual players over the course of three years the game literally grew and became a name due to those casual bits.

After waiting so long those that would leave the game over lack of hardcore content have left and those that remain and fought for it would have never left the game regardless after such a lengthy space of time.

Switching it up now doesn’t bring back the ones who grew tired of playing and it doesn’t retain those who spent years asking for it. It does however knock out a good portion of those who flocked to the game during the early years.

There are people that will leave and their are people who will take anything and remain the casuals have been catered to yes over the first three years so they had no legit reason to complain then everything changed for them with HoT. However they are not right now because Anet shifted their focus and experience something they want no part in fo the first time in this game many have left. The longer they are gone the higher chance they won’t return as is the case with anything when someone decides to take a break from it.

Healing needs to be overhauled and scale more to the actual points, gear, and traits.

Why does a druid with no points in healing still heal better than other classes which have traited for healing for instance. The entire thing is broken and in need of overhaul as people should even have the ability to sacrifice their own self heals in order to do greater damage which makes sense when we have healing oriented builds around.

As for an elite it should be something NOT based on shattering for instance the chrono outclasses the basic mesmer partially because the chrono can pull off additional shatters. If the new class has mechanics that beat the old two in shattering output then whats the point of using the others?

It shouldn’t add to our F1-4 skills it should replace them with something else completely.

Underwater Combat Needs Fixing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Doam.8305

The game lacked flying and mounts which was completely fine and it was fine because when GW2 launched it offered up something different and rather unique.

That being underwater combat and many people were initially sold on this game for that one aspect alone. However instead of balancing it they removed the water from PvP Lobby and the the entire map, instead of adding new underwater weapons including BL ticket weaps they stopped working on them all together.

Legendary weapons may have stopped now but the legendary underwater weapons were canned way earlier than the rest. We have a so called expansion with only a few underwater caves that lack combat for the most part.

We got an extra weapon for a paid expansion but I don’t think anyone truly expects to get the third missing water weapon for their class.

Anet has had from launch until now to polish one if it’s main and unique draws to pull people into this game and instead they have disowned it as well as many other things all in the name of esports.

So yes I like underwater and yes it was a part of my decision process to get this very game. However I just can’t see Anet spending time on it Bubbles the magical water dragon or not. It’s a major en-devour and so little has been done to expand other easier aspects of this game.

Game released in 2012

Ask yourself what have we gotten since 2012-2016
What was promised and how long did it take to get into the game if ever

Hot didn’t ruin anything the long months of content droughts and removals took its toll. People are asking for the same things to be added to this game as they did when the game launched. They take a step forward but must also take a step back implementing new systems and then removing them.

What MMO could possibly have gotten away with keeping the same tired dungeons for 4 years. your class is the same though certain things have been removed, and HoT brought specializations while leaving the core classes frozen in stone. A person comes back to check on the game and they see the same skills, dungeons, and so forth as they did years ago.

HoT didn’t ruin anything however one could tie everything to bad management and a foolish desire for E-sports. I log in for a daily rarely and I check these forums less and less eachtime. So many people that I knew in game and in real life have left.

It’s not to say the game is bad since new people are coming even the older/founding members of my guild and others have long quit. I made log in reward a routine but at this point I have to ask myself why do I do it.

I don’t blame HoT a cash in is a cash in and they got my money so my purpose as a vet has long since passed. Too much time has passed with far little to show for it the droughts were to long and HoT didn’t provide enough content to keep older players going.

New Race !

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Pretty sure with a game this old and even though it hasn’t received a single new race since launch people would rather have new dungeons, skills, and weapon combinations.

Obviously we aren’t going to get any of that we had elite specializations however that was a single new weapon, altered the class mechanics, and only a few skills while during that same time frame reducing visual display for the sake of E-sports. People talk about dev work and effort but they hardly ever talk about the breath of time since release and why nearly 4 years has produced so little.

Race would be nice but a race would require new racial skills and the core none elite specialization classes remain unchanged for years aside for nerfs. A Mesmer is a Mesmer and will remain unchanged for most likely the rest of this games lifespan while chrono and other elites will be locked behind expansions.

Underwater Dragon Speculation Thread

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Underwater was a selling point for core and something they quickly abandoned. They didn’t balance the classes for underwater nor have they added any new weapon skins in months including BL and they straight up stated there would be no more underwater legendaries months ago.

Was it hard for ESPORTS or esport related activities? We don’t know but they removed all water in the pvp lobby as well as the entire PvP map that had water segments. The newest class revenenat is completely lacking in underwater and since launch many of the skills classes have can’t even be used underwater either.

So it’s obvious the devs backtracked on underwater content in 3+ years and an expac which just had some minor underwater tunnels that old selling point is dead and one of the key features that sold this game initially to people is long forgotten. Either the Water dragon will be the last dragon, they skip him completely, or this game merely goes under before they ever get to him. Mainly because the water dragon being a water dragon means Anet needs to address issues that have been publicly known for years.

They then decided to lock a single weapon addition behind and expansion and elite classes which doesn’t even make sense. If they add a new elite for a mesmer for instance then why can they still manipulate time with the shields chrono related skills. If a core mesmer equipts a shield why do they get the alacrity skills without even unlocking the traits?

Tying elite specials and weapons wasn’t a good plan and all.

Introducing new weapons combinations and as a result new skills is something they should have started doing two years into the game. However ESPORTS and esports doesn’t lend itself well to numerous skills and multiple builds or even flashy skills. Anet has proven their Esport aspirations triumph anything the core population wants. Skills and weapons should have been added ages ago and in my opinion it’s too late they would have retained a good chunk of the population if they cared more about providing a good game over a good esport title.

I’ve come to learn if you care about new skills and new builds and things like a new dungeon thrown your way every now and then. The basic things most MMO’s toss your way to keep the player base happy then GW2 isn’t the place for it.

It’s not about them adding it now or in the future but rather it’s to late for such things the game has been out for years and it’s obvious the devs have had other plans. Heck we got a new legendary short bow recently that cna only be used by two classes and even if they add new elites and a new expac it’s not like many classes will gain access to short bow let alone them adding a new weapon if they can’t even expand their existing weapons what hope is there for new ones. I’d like Mesmer with Quip, Dreamer, and Moot equipt to it but I know that’s never gonna happen just like I doubt new weapons will ever be introduced since Anet has shown no signs of even catering to that type of progressions.

I agree with you TC and I hope it happens and I think Scythe should be a contender since that weapon existed in GW1.

ANET please nerf HoT

Don’t listen to those against the nerf the official forums are notorious for thier white knights however the truth is they stated a while back the the spring quartely update would be address the issues that were brought up and bringing HoT back in line with the Core. These knights are the reason the game is in decline and why HoT failed they stifle out any criticism or suggestion and cherish the moves taken to support the Esport as well while the numbers decline.

Brinign HoT in line with core will help some but many have already left this wasn’t a game for raiding or hardcore content it was a casual MMO and all the years of QQ for harder content were from people that would never leave the game in the first place or people trying to ferry others into other games. When they listened to these peopel and abandoned their core original audience the core left even SAB was too little too late for many people. There only hope is to revert as many things as possible and hope people return in the future.

So without a doubt the grind in HoT needs to be nerfed, the mobs along the core story paths need to be nerfed so anyone at any skill level can beat the story like any other MMO, timers removed, masteries lessened as many don’t alt they have but one toon, and modified maps to allow for easier traveling to places like upper VD during day or the different levels in TD. Most importantly a better reward system because cosmetic or not the reward system is a massive grind and it’s not the reward that matters but the acquisition. There is no low teir rewards in HoT no monster loot of merit or minor crafted items all massive amounts of RNG and time.

All in all I’m ready to be dissapounted yet still grateful to see what is in this patch

Thx for the pic however I can’t possibly think of an instance where this thing receives any actual hype. Thieves and Rangers and short bow isn’t even the most used weapon by either class either.

Unless ANET slaps on short bow on the majority future Elite specs if the game lasts that long or the even more radical idea of Anet expanding on the weapons and skills of the base classes.

At the end of the day it’s the last legendary that can only be used by two classes who barely use the weapon class. It probably would’ve been better if it was an aquatic because more classes would at least be able to equip it.

Mordrem-Vinewrath should be upgraded.

Neat people trying to destroy the last safe haven of GW2 you all paid off by someone else?

Cause when I click LFG all I see in general are LFR and SW so are you all elitist raiders trying to nudge out the last bastion of the old game prior to HoT? That or you wish to spread the HoT to other parts of the game because you’d like less people than there already are in SW?

HoT should be in line with SW not the other way around and if you think that isn’t the case then your obviously out to ruin the last few bits of the game people enjoy for some strange and personal reason… unless your the grinch in disguise who just simply loves to destroy the joy of others it simply doesn’t add up at all….

Why are people so afraid of raiding?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Doam.8305

Game isn’t balanced for beans.

The reason so many people raid percentage wise compared to other games is because other games are balanced. Dungeons, WvW, and so forth are all dead people leaving in swaths due to esports balancing their classes for all modes and crunching the visual flair. Anet can’t do more than one thing at a time and even SAB goes away the 19th leaving us back at square one afterwards.

But like others have said elitism the white knights and rampant elitism that grows from raids has ended with the destruction of more than it’s fair share of MMO’s. Many people came to Gw2 as a haven from that type of thing but after the elitsit killed their own games they came to GW2 and are now trying to destroy it usin the same type of raid rhetoric used in so many other games which lead to their own collapses. I’d say go back to your old heavy raid oriented game but I’d say it either doesn’t exist anymore or is a complete and utter ghost town right now which is the fate of any game that caters to the elitist and not the casual and history proves it as such.

In daiblo three there is a character named Maghda she has two large flying insects on her shoulders which pick her up and carry her. My idea for a glider is the same by simple attaching large flying insects to the character which allow them to glide.

My other suggestion is also simple legendary weapons produce an aura and it would be nice to have gliders that complement the legendaries. The glider I want is something that could work with Moot, Dreamer, or Quip can be something like a fireworks dislplay while gliding, confetti streams popping all over, multiple ballons tied all over the body, or even balloon wings knotted to look like wings much like balloon animals with some sort of effect musical/visual effects.

I’d have to agree that the issues started eariler and those prior issues

Also Colin leaving means nothing since Mike was higher up than him after all

This is the same company that did the whole SAB coin debacle after all, hasn’t launched a new dungeon, and ignores there consumers they even flocked to reddit forums but did nothing to address anything. Even now the reddit forums are just as toxic as these boards if not more so.

Anet doesn’t fix they deflect instead of fixig and improving A or B they go to C. They didn’t balance/fix underwater they removed it and stopped making weapons, the devs didn’t address the community they moved to another forums, they didn’t want to reduce inflation so they set pre-crafting to pres set at the highest point of inflation in an auction house were auctions never have to be renewed.

They have so few employees apparently and spend resources pretending to be youtube stars, esport leaders, and so forth instead of investing in the game. These things are viewed and targeted to existing players already and there is but one Guildwars so their is no bleed over into other products either.

Guild Wars fell apart due to leadership not merely an expansion and an internal change in leadership does nothing to ease the masses so things are bound to only get worse from here on out. Especially given the show we saw the other day against people claiming HoT wasn’t a full experience. Even full on supporters who think things will get better were disgusted by that show put on by the new director and brought everything down to new lows for everyone.

Raids Vs. Legendary's Vs. PvP Vs. WvW?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Doam.8305

WvW shouldn’t have a Vs. it simply doesn’t exist

Also Raids being more used in this game than any other MMO seems completely plausible and accurate.

It’s simple really all the other MMO’s have BALANCED CONTENT

The Dungeoneers, WvW, and heck PVE in general have been abandoned by Anet and have obviously got tired of waiting 6 months after release for content and left the game or rather play much less than they used too. The raiders are practially all that’s left I know without a doubt I’ve never seen the in game population this low in all my years playing the game. Even LFG is full of nothing but LFR and an occasional SW far fewer options than I remember. This is how MMO’s die catering to the hardcore because the hardcore or a minority and the completely neglected the casual. Before someone says they haven’t catered to the hardcore in three years prior well that’s since launch and that means this obvious isn’t a game for hardcore players also you stood around for three years asking for it. Casuals are not going to stick around like that and the mass exodus of the casual do to their new dedication to grind and raids is why we are in the current situation.

Also why a game with only one raid wing well two now has the highest percentage of raiders than any other MMO’s because those other MMO’s are balanced and non-raiders stick around because they have something worthwhile to do unlike this game.

Old (Invalid) TP Order Clean-up

I don’t get to be honest

Other MMO’s in fact every game I can even think of has an Auction house that works with 24-48 hour system. You can’t create an auction in real life and post it up there forever there is no eternal ebay or even newspaper add that doesn’t need to be renewed. This type of thing is also held in games because it helps to stabilize the economy.

They removed all the items that were below market value but what about all the items that were posted when gold was abundant and raining from the sky. People don’t make the income they once did with dungeon nerfing and the current state of WvW so they can’t afford old world pricing. Yet they go into the TP and they see the market value of items from over 2 years ago. The market in this game is rigid and some items don’t change the simple act of adjusting the market must be terrible because everything in anchored to old TP prices. Heck the draining of liquid gold wouldn’t even be a problem if people had to renew their TP posts because the market would adjust more and more every-time an old auction needed to be renewed.

This has been on of my major gripes since launch but meh GW1 didn’t even have an auction system so I let it slide but seeing you all adjust merely the low end of the auction reminded me of the issues of the bloating. You all set Precursor crafting to TP prices of Pre weapons that were put up years prior and as a result the pre is more time consuming and costly the craft than the other three components of the legendary.

GW2 was appealing to people because it was a casual MMO things becoming harder or rather more grindy is why people left since so many people joined to begin with because it was indeed less grindy than other MMO’s.

What your grinding for doesn’t matter a reward is a reward whether it has stats or not and just because something is cosmetic doesn’t take away from it being an extremely grindy en-devour at all. Basic MMO 101 really that the reward system is important and the reward system for GW2 is extremely grindy for instance look at the monster loot you only have one set of weapons in HoT that drop from monsters. Farming monsters for loot in HoT is pointless because the lower end of the reward spectrum is non-existant and people look for rewards they find an extremely grindy model.

They’ve used the same dungeons for years and no other MMO could ever get away from this level of neglect. If they cared we’d have more dungeons and they wouldn’t have reduced the rewards.

Your right about skills when hot came only the elite special got new skills but all the basic classes got zip. If a Mesmer wanted a phantasm based skill in every slot including heal and elite then they should be able to do so. They’ve added two heals and removed one of them and that is beyond pathetic.

Underwater should’ve been balanced instead of completely guted it was a marketed and people bought the game because it was new and then Anet completely abandoned it. Removed from PvP and no more water based weapons with tickets or in the future when all people really wanted for was them to balance the classes and unlock the remaining skills.

Weapons should’ve been expanded upon ages ago for instance why can’t a mesmer main hand a pistol if they can offhand it, rangers with guns, and so forth. Elite specs doesn’t address the lack of new weapon combinations and skills for players or the lack of additional weapon types.

WvW. Gw1, and even the population of the forums is at all time lows in fact I’m on it much more rarely than I did in the past and am only on because I heard of Colin leaving earlier this month and decided to check the game out in hopes of some sort of massive overhaul.

I miss my Ritualist. Oh wait, different definition of “outdated.”

I miss my Assassin and his beautiful armor. Thief needs updated to Assassin.

What about the Paragon?
Echoes, Shouts, Chants, Land Spears, and the aria’s plus a type of reactionary support that doesn’t exist in GW2 aside a single virtue. Let my party inflict blindness with their next hit, let them receive regeneration when they are struck in battle, and let their condi’s be purged the next time they are healed. A class that would really shine as a raid, wvw, mentor, or just a basic leader in general.

Also I wouldn’t say any of these modern classes are outdated but rather that all classes have skills that need to be updated also they could probably use additional skills that would combo better with existing skills that are hardly used.

The Economy: Draining the Liquid Gold

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Doam.8305

Doam.8305

Nope

You forgot to mention the problems with the Auction Hall which prevent the reduction from gold from having an actualy effect on the economy.

In other games and even in the real world you cannot leave an item for sale indefinitely. You have to repost and put up a new price after a certain amount of time those auctions only last so many days or hours before they close and if a buyer isn’t found to bad. You then repost it after having to rethink your price.

In Gw2 that isn’t the case the liquid gold is gone as you put it however the auctions are all ancient the items that were 1kg remain 1kg. Someone placing a new item for sale does so not on their own interpretation of the price but the interpretation of items that have been for sale since launch. Heck I can go to my history right now and find auctions I’ve had up for months and in those months no changes or decrease in liquid gold will effect those prices for all the items I had on the TP and it’s those static items that set the price.

Game can best be described as a train-wreck

It has absolutely zero direction and no true plan to aspire to anything

We got some dungeons but instead of adding more they skipped that and added fractals and instead of improving that they added raids. We started with biiweekly temporary content, then permanent content on a longer schedule, and then expansion and forget PVE and WvW it’s all about the e-sports and yet I don’t see Anet ranking in the top slots for best e-sport anywhere either. In addition the game is B2P with a cash shop, then we had this timed deal where it was free depending if you were logged in(LS2), and now its F2P with B2P expansion. They’ve even added skills and then removed some like Antitoxin spray we’ve also had PvP maps removed when all people wanted was balance. Water combat was never balanced in fact but instead it was simply removed and in addition we started with individual armor both in game and the cash shop to them going the complete outfit route.

The last two points also make little sense because we have swiftness, traits, runes, skills, weapons, mushrooms, and masteries to increase our speed when a simple mount or sprint function would have sufficed. The movement system in this game is a disaster all to itself they spend the time to develop ways just for a basic ground speed increase instead of working on things more important. Other MMO’s know you sprint or mount and you take the time for other things but in GW2 the other thing is spending all the cash shop income to play make believe youtube star instead of just posting the changes and tossing that money back in the game they have to make full blown productions about it. People have been asking for harder content, mounts, SAB, and so for months-years and the thing is those people have never left nor will they ever leave and will remain asking for those things no matter what happens. Nut Anet catered to the diehards instead of the casuals who will leave without word and we are left in the situation we are in.

As for me I come back to the forums from time to time to check the updates to see if anything has changed but what I see is them changing the support system instead of polishing what we have right now and going on another tangent.

Way to obvious a reassurance post for starters you only mention BNS but don’t give any reasons at all. NCSoft Published GW2 and they have many MMOs including BNS and BNS is obviously a culmination of all their games.

NCSoft published GW2, but in no way developed or created it. An NCSoft team developed BnS. GW2 was created by a US developer, BnS by a Korean developer. They’re very very different beasts. BnS is no way a “culmination” of all NCSoft’s games.

GW2 launched in 2012 while BNS launched in 2012 in Korea

By looking at the development over time one can see BNS was straightforward they offered people what they started off with and didn’t drastically change.

GW2 as an MMO doesn’t make any sense however it’s literally been a trainwreck of ideas and everything feels like an experiment in MMO design rather than a complete product. They dipped into just about everything but didn’t refine anything for instance we got some dungeons but instead of new dungeons we got fractals and instead of new fractals we got raids then they nerfed the former two to try and shovel people in to test out the concept of raids. Content as well from temporary, to perm, hybrid shop(Peeps have to buy season 2 who weren’t logged in) then to expansions. There isn’t one solid bit in this game.

NCsoft may not be very involved but given the nature of gw2 over the years I’m sure they’ve learned from this game to help mold their others because you don’t see this sort of thing in their other titles.

Phasing, sprinting, wpvp, dungeons actually slated to be added in the future, and other memo fundamentals.

Heck people have been asking for mounts in gw2 since launch but instead we have a train wreck of traits, skills, runes, sh rooms, swiftness, and so forth where BNS just has sprint. GW2 will probably continue to oversaturate the game with speed buffs that could have all been bypassed with a mount or sprint system. GW2 feels like a testing ground because they never go for the simple solution nor do they ever keep with any idea long enough to actually refine it.

Remember the Ritualist and Paragon?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Guardian = paragon + monk

Revenant = ritualist + warrior

Revenant is more dervish with it’s so called avatar forms

Ritualist is the engineer replace spirits with turrets and kits for the rits carried bundles it goes farther but the mechanics are there.

The guardian has a single skill that flame virtue that falls under the paragon mechanic line no other skill exists. Even the guardians shouts are warrior shouts as one has to remember the warrior had many shouts. The Paragon worked on a reactionary system with echoes, chants, and shouts doing things like energy per hit, all members can inflict cripple with their next hit, or all effective gain health or weakness with their next hit. When a shout or chant is renewed or expires on a character more effects would go off as well.

The Paragon exists in a single skill in this game the character inflict burning and thus it’s the least represented of the GW1 classes.

Even in GW1 they knew to make challenging maps a side item the problem with HoT is that this isn’t the case at all. In GW1 the story path or the main path is casual friendly as it always should be in any game however once you walk of the beaten path you’ll end up in more difficult content however in HoT the main story path and this more difficult content is one in the same.

I would contest this assertion, I would say the GW:EN maps were about as difficult as HoT maps (Tarnished Coast maps and Depths of Tyria). Do you remember the large groups of dinosaurs and krait? My memory isn’t what it was but I do remember groups of mobs that were dangerous.

I agree with this. There were story steps you had to get to and packs of raptors patroled and if you took the time to fight one, there was a roaming group of mixed dinosaurs that came through that would just wipe you if you weren’t careful/didn’t know what you were doing/didn’t build for the encounter.

In fact, there were often really powerful dinosaurs you’d start fighting and then you’d get a raptor patrol on top of you. The open world was much harder than the story missions in Guild Wars 1 and we didn’t hear a lot of complaints about the design.

The fact is, anyone can learn to play this content without too much effort. I’ve helped teach quite a few people how to get through it.

You both are thinking of the Asuran EN questline and I’m aware of those maps however that was indeed part of the story path as you had to collect two Asuran scientists on that map. Furthermore the map was a wide an open area and the Dino’s acted more like patrols which could be easily by passed if one chose not to fight.

Furthermore off the beaten trail it did get more difficult with elites, dungeons, and access to other more challenging areas. Kinda like the part where they make you travel through the Orr segment as the story only made you travel through the first flow but off the beaten path you’d find a much greater challenge if you choose to go lower and deeper.

I’ll use WoW because I think it fits perfectly as that game had literal roads and those roads have far fewer mobs and basically worked as the network working as the story path between areas. In GW2 one could argue that it makes little sense for there to be such roads however the plot point is your traveling a Mordrem supply route. If your following and tracking along this route then why is it covered with so many none Mordrem creatures!? Did that Caravan just ignore the Smokscales, Raptors, and Chak or do the modrem not even patrol that path. Those mobs shouldn’t be there at best they would be replaced by mordrem patrols as it’s stated that the captured Sylvari are also being hauled down the path so it must be fairly active. It would fit with the story and it would’ve fit with all the QQ people bring up about difficulty if they did use the beaten path for the story path alone and made side areas and harder enemies off that beaten track. Not about difficulty at all but more about balancing mob locations part of the reason HoT maps are kinda vacant is due to this but I feel the biggest part is all the time gating. Adding hearts/basic quests would’ve fixed that though but no gotta get in at the right time for meta, adventures, farming, and even basic exploration cause while there are ways to get up to the canopy during day time you can’t map it all until night and thus waiting on another timer.

In GW1 the story path or the main path is casual friendly as it always should be in any game however once you walk of the beaten path you’ll end up in more difficult content however in HoT the main story path and this more difficult content is one in the same.

Should a person making their way through content have to deal with roaming zergs and is this not the reason why the low level trains were altered? If I’m walking from one story point to another the content should be relative but then why in GW2 is it more difficult to make it to the next story point that actually doing it? Not saying the map is overly difficult but it’s more difficult than the story it connects. You run through tons of pocket raptors, stalkers, smokescales, and chak then when you make it to the story instance none of those things are present and it’s a cake walk in comparison.

This is a sign of bad level design more than anything else there is no defending this because the path shouldn’t be harder than the story desitnation unless it’s a boss or something. So yeah this isn’t casual friendly at all the main story path shouldn’t have those mobs in it as you don’t kill a ton of chak to make it to your location and then in the story you end up spotting them for the so called first time and fight far fewer packs of the things.

HoT maps should have been balanced better mob positioning should be changed and additional maps should have been created of the story path with the more difficult content people wanted. Heck GW1 is known for this for instance those paid runs through prophecies those running paths weren’t something you had to actively fight through to complete the main story. The story went through Kryta to get to Droknars forge it didn’t make people run straight south through the shiver peaks through the runners path. So why is HoT making people take that path instead of balancing the path around the story like cutting through Kryta. Heck every path in Prophecies that people would get paid to run through is an instance of having more difficult content outside of the path the story cuts through the map and HoT failed at this most basic aspect of MMO gaming.

Ritualist!?

Nah

PARAGON IS WHAT THE GAME NEEDS

and no Guardian doesn’t count as a Paragon because they only have a single skill that barely graces the paragon mechanics. The fire virtue is basically the only representation meanwhile Echoes, (Paragon)Shouts, and Chants are absent from the game. The guardian is more of a monk/warrior hybrid than anything heck it even has the Gw1 Warrior shouts no refrains, restorations, arias, songs, or anthems and their all defensive nothing about increasing crit/inflicting weakness for party member in earshot with their next attack. We only have that single virtue that allows burning with their next attack.

At least engineer turrets act like ritualist spirits and bombs their carried items so it feels like a spiritual successor while the Paragon is the class left out in the cold.

E-Sports is the death of this game

If you want a game for E-sports you do so at the start and build a game for it from the ground up. GW2 on the other hand has undergone many balancing patches in the name of E-sports destroying the game for the lifeblood of any game the casuals this isn’t League or a Moba. Sure E-sports may make them money but they’re not investing it into this game all those Youtube videos where they pretend their youtube celebrities obviously don’t pay for themselves.

People interested in E-sports are fickle as well this game obviously wasn’t designed for it while you have another NCSoft game Blade and Soul that is not only more geared for such a thing but even has a WPvP system taking advantage of those changes. E-sport balancing doesn’t do nothing for the zergfest known as WvW.

Constant characters, classes, roles, and updates keep E-sport titles going as well as being it’s primary focus which isn’t something I’d say about GW2. The population has been in decline for sometime and the people I talk to blame two things E-sport balancing without taking into consideration PVE and the awkward gating system. If you complete the masteries then your done with nothing to do so you leave or if you have a single toon then the mastery system gets boring that gates are high because it’s supposed to be done once but some people would have prefered the gates be smaller and made individually to the character. Though those are the people that leave without making posts the people makign posts never leave regardless all these Sab, Mounts, 2h Axe, (Raid)posts have been up for 2-3 years and those people never left and they never will leave this game meanwhile Anet caves to these people who will never leave and the silent majority rushes out the back door.
