What is the reason behind the recent spike? From 3G a week ago to 3G40s this morning. Can anyone explain why, and should I start buying them now(I need 250 ._.), or are they bound to go back down?
Come to BG BL south camp if you want to duel me. I’m so lonely here =(
Are there duels anywhere?
Thinking about starting a T1 dueling group
I don’t think it would be needed with the recent announcement of the future change. =)
Thanks for the heads up! I hope it’s still on sale!
So there’s this heart-quest south of frozen maw. It’s located atop a steep cliff on the side of the mountain. The goal is to fetch hidden bundles of food and bring them to the NPC-but there’s a catch! Upon picking up the food, hungry bunnies will chase you down and knock you over for the food.
Well, I was doing this event one evening as part of my map completion, and the most asinine thing happened to me. I picked up a food stache, and as usual, the bunnies start ed amassing around me. Soon, I found myself on the edge of the cliff when I got knocked by a bunny and promptly fell to my death. BEWARE OF THE BUNNIES.
100% legit story, in case you were wondering.
Impressive, not gonna lie though, a lot of the players were pretty horrid. Especially that ones that would continue to revive while you’re hacking away at them ._.
With that standing trait I could go AFK for hours inside towers then just alt tab into GW2 and ninja a free tier 3 tower for my team
Remember the best offensive against the effigy is poison, something which thieves have the most of. It will reduce his heal potential by 33%. I’ve seen groups who lacked the DPS to kill it suddenly wreck it because poison. It really does make thief pretty valuable able in CoF(aside from the cliche, yet true 3X zerk warrer 2X zerk mesmer)
Stealth stomp is a death trap against glass cannons who have half a brain. If you have a downed teammate and a thief CnDs near him, guess what? 99% of the time, stealth stomp. Stand over your teammate and 100B/autoattack/aoe him.
Also, mist form stomp, stability stomp, haste stomp > stealth stomp
What do you mean when you say “not at a level”?
Do you mean actual levels(level 5, level 80), or level of skill?
If it’s the first one, then it’s best if you run with a group as it’s easy to get to 80, then solo roaming will be much more rewarding. A low level solo roaming is bound to be prey for any level 80 roamer.
As far as rangers are concerned, they have some really powerful builds, most of them involving melee. I do recall a day where it was almost reset, and such the 3 servers were dueling. We had this ranger who would beat the crap out of D/D eles and Guardians. He could outheal them and deal massive DPS. It was exciting to see that rangers are so powerful in the 1v1 aspect.
Am I the only one who thinks the game is fun where it is, and that nothing should be changed except maybe lag improvements and culling?
P/ kitten taring into a world with no thief stealths. Basically it turns you into a rifle warrior with less DPS and less HP. Not worth it. Just roll a warrior if you wanted ranged DPS.
Been playing since release
At the top of my head, I can probably think of about 12 exotics that I looted since release, with the best being Final rest
Seeing as you are obviously glass cannon, and an ele at that, popping a meteor shower on top of you would have destroyed him.
He takes as much damage, I hope you remember that.
Now organized guilds split into groups of 5 and have thieves shadow refuge them before attacking
Ingenius!
It’s fine in PvE imo, but needs work in WvW. The S/P build in general seems very weak to me.
Possible suggestions
Increase the stun
Move when slashing
Meh. I’ll still own people. If you can’t counter a BS thief before patch, you won’t be able to now. Trash pugs will still be trash pugs, and I will still feed on their tears after ripping them a new one.
It will be interesting. It shouldn’t really affect my combat performance but I won’t be able to troll zergs inside towers for 30 minutes anymore. If they are adding more mobility, I say do it.
So long as it’s not “Increased reveal buff timer to 3 minutes” like some people are suggesting -.-
Someone PM me in game already. I want to duel preferably a D/D ele or Guardian
Do ettt
I want to see 100 D/D eles
Imagine seeing all the “Ride the lightenings” at first contact.
If I know there’s going to be skill lag (AKA, “SM INNER 5%”), I switch to a healing signet. Something that passively heals whether it be regen, heal when you attack, ect.
10 Hammer warriors
4 Guardians
4 Ele
2 Mesmers
But we’re the good guys
I saw a CHOO kick a baby quaggan, while a TW and CDS cheered him on.
If that isn’t evil I don’t know what is.
That was me. I skinned him and am now wearing him on my back.
Someone just bought them all out. There are 2 left on the trading post, selling for 7 gold and 10 gold
.-.
Also another WoD just popped up on the TP
(edited by Doomdesire.9365)
I already made a few gold off of it.
^^
That’s actually pretty common in CoE. 3 runs usually nets me 1-4 cores and maybe a lodestone.
Hopefully that does work, because I just bought 30 sigils of purity in hopes that the price will rise
Unless you bought them a week ago you’re already too late. These guys are making their money off you now.
We’ll see. It’s never good to jump to conclusions(although technically speaking, that’s what I just did). If it’s not true, I lost at the very most, 1G, if it goes well, I can make well over that.

IMO, ancient short bow staves are not an ingredient.
If you look at the recipe for Tear of Grenth and Melandru’s Gaze
Mystic coins
Eltrich scroll
T6 MAT
Lodestone/giant eye
Seeing as this is wings of dwayna, my guess is that it will follow the same template
Mystic Coins
Eltrich scroll
Stack of T6
Rare mat
S/D destroys them with ease. The most important thing is to make sure you dodge the CnD. Doing that in itself will kill every single thief who relies on cloak and dagger, at least what I’ve found.
That’s called culling, which is what allows them to attack you and appear to remain in stealth. This is going to be fixed in March patch.
It appears as if you are not sure the mechanics behind the thief profession. It’s actually a pretty simple and predictable class if you are experienced.
Use this thread. Nobody has yet, 99% just complain without trying to see what they themselves are doing wrong.

You can launch asuras into keeps using trebuchets
I’d say if thief gets hardcore nerfs, this option would help to even it out a little, but atm, would be too much, and would defeat the point of trying to drain his initiative, the most successful way of fighting a thief…
Is there anyone that would like to 1v1? I don’t do spvp so WvW duels are the best I can grab…
Looking to fight
D/D eles
GuardiansAnd every other class, but mostly those 2 ^^
i was gonan say, hey i’m a guard! i’m down!
then i noticed who posted.. :// lolJust run around in the centre island, aka duel central. TaLKing about duel central, i think its time we all agree to a specific duel zone. Any suggestions?
If by central island you mean the quaggan one, I’ve never actually tried that. I usually hang out at the south camp. It seems to be the most ideal place to duel. I’ve been checking out this clearing to the north-west of mendons in EB though. It seems like a great spot…probably my favorite. Now if anyone would actually go there to duel…
Also, nobody has PM’d me yet! Someone accept! I’m bored!!
Kill one million karka.
Burst won’t work if he has semi good reactions. S/D is pretty meh.
I personally like applying conditions. They only have a limited amount of removal. Put some caltrops and stand in them and spam death blossom or try a P/D set.
Honestly, a torch would be epic. Makes sense too, if you think about it…

I just got one from behemoth…who would have known? :P
I don’t like the idea due to the fact that sometimes I experiment with whacky builds…sometimes they are successful, and I do not want anyone to find out, because if they know the build, they know the counters :P
Unfortunately, I’m forced to agree with the OP.
Stealth is just a little too overpowered.
Scenario:
You know there is a thief approaching…. he thinks you did not see him enter stealth and begin advancing toward your location… but you saw it all right. You begin to prepare for the duel…
You can’t hit him with projectiles while he is approaching…. but you might be able to tag him with some melee once he is in range…
…but how do you know when he is close enough?
You begin channeling your block skill…. but nothing strikes you before it is over.
You swing your weapon, and it seems as if you’ve hit nothing.
You swing it again, and still… your adversary remains cloaked.
Did you hit him? Is he even here yet?
You dodge roll just to be safe…. he has got to be here somewhere by now.
BAM
You are immobilized. You finally see the thief, but you are completely helpless as he takes large chunk out of your health bar.
Knowing that the assault will not stop, and your death will be quick otherwise, you use your stun-break skill to break free and actually move from defensive to offensive for a split second.
Your opponent is fragile. Just a hit or two has already taken a significant portion of his health away.
You use your heal skill.
You’ve got what appears to be the upper hand for a moment, but your offensive doesn’t last for very long because the thief has once again stealthed himself.
You look at your health bar… and it is pretty low. One or two more hits from the thief will surely be the end of you.
This time, you flail around like mad mashing your attack skills that will actually function against a stealthed opponent You dodge roll. You dodge roll again. You continue to attack the air.
The thief comes unstealthed…. in downed-state. You did it!
But it was just a stroke of luck.
You were just swinging around your weapon and dodge rolling around blindly.
There will be other times when you will not be so lucky.
You can actually predict accurately where he is during first contact as the limit on time per stealth(3s for most), they would be running towards you before the stealth disappears. If he enters stealth before he comes into combat with you, he is doing a few things
1) Using hide in shadows(bad move)
2) Using shadow refuge (Also, bad move, he won’t be able to use it later in the fight where it is most critical or if he decides to run)
3) Blinding powder
It’s highly unlikely that a thief would enable contact with a person in stealth due to the fact that is ruins the chain(they will get revealed on steal and will not be able to backstab).
You can also tell if you hit a thief by your auto attack chain. If it advances to the next skill, you hit him, pretty good tool. Although I wouldn’t recommend auto attack unless you are a high DPS auto attack profession. If you have AoEs, do not throw them randomly around. Throw them under you. If he wants to attack, he’s going to get hit.
If you see a thief, there’s a 90% chance he’s using a dagger offhand to stealth. Dodging that will deny him 90% of his stealth skills and waste his initiative. It’s very predictable and it has more than long enough cast time to dodge.
Guardians are only annoying in that they spread AEGIS to everyone blocking my CnDs. Glass cannons warriors are troublesome in group fights. Doesn’t matter if you’re full tank thief, if you don’t dodge/stunbreak the bullrush 100B then you might as well call it a day.
Tomorrow before reset(assuming the scores are far enough to calm) I will be awaiting at SoR BL south camp for dueling. 3:30 PST, please come.
Congrats to JQ for the comeback.
IMO, if I had to reroll, I would pick an elementalist. They are not overpowered in any area, just can perform just as well as other classes. They can go staff zerg buster, D/D tank roaming/dueling, support, PvE, AoE, it goes on and on.
Mesmer. Ranger’s ranged is sort of a joke atm.
That and the ranger looks like it was designed to defend atop walls and stay at the back end of the fight using the pet as a distraction. Of course this only works if the opponent is stupid.
Meanwhile we have the mesmer which is a born duelist class.
