Please, if anything needs a nerf, it’s Black powder heartseeker, NOT cnd. CnD is extremely predictable and if someone is just chaining it, then count 1,2,3, dodge. Success! That wasn’t so hard, was it?
Dagger Pistol is stealth on demand at any time with no counter and it unpredictable + provides perma stealth + blinds to mitigate any CCs. CnD is an easy counter. Nobody should have trouble with it.
I would like to see what 10 good thieves can do with this build vs 30-40 zerglings.
No way that can happen. Way too much aoe spam, and CCs.

Personally for condition thief I would run P/D. Reason being is Cloak and Dagger offhand —→stealth --→Sneak attack from stealth(5 stacks of bleed)
Tier 2 dueling was the best. Everyone in Tier one chickens out and nobody duels. It’s boring. TAKE ME BACK TIER 2

I always hate to say it but its a L2 kitten ue. I play a thief and I die, other classes beat me. (And I’d like to think I’m a fairly good thief 1k+hours) I also play a Necro (badly I might add ~50 hours) and don’t have a issue killing thieves.
Most thieves won’t be in a rush to kill you, they will take there time and ware you down. This also (obviously) frustrates the enemy, making it easier to kill them. People say “just don’t fight thieves” because you sticking around in a 1v1 fight is what the thief wants, your playing his game. You running away makes it more likely that you’ll find people and put the thief at a large disadvantage and they don’t want that.
Thiefs dont die…..they try to gank….and if that fails, run away with impunity.
No risk, highreward.
You should never see thiefs jumping in to attack a large group and porting out with impunity. They have too many escape options. Either make them hit like a wet blanket, or make them commit, if they dont get the kill, make them pay for it, not just be able to get away and try again.
Escape options, on a thief? Gasp! No! I wonder why they even called him a thief when a thief can’t a escape in real life! Oh wait!

If they removed pistol number #2 skill I wouldn’t even care. It sucks.
Shadow trap is underrated though IMO. It’s great dealing with multiple enemies and is even better if you run S/D. The whole infiltrators strike/shadowstep/shadowtrap/steal will really confuse them.

Generally speaking I like hide in shadows more. Withdraw’s condition cures are limited to the mobility restriction conditions, whereas hide in shadows cures burning, bleed, poison, as to cripple, immobilize, chilled. As for healing wise, it feels the same for me since I spec to get regen on stealth, which makes up the difference.
US servers would win via PvD, that’s for sure.
Depends on what kind of “zerg”
People have different definitions of what it requires to be called a “zerg”
Personally, I think it’s great so long as there is no skill lag. 100v100 zergball is no fun. 20v20 is great, 30v30 is better, 40v40 is the best. Anything above that starts to suck with the skill lag and the gameplay itself.
Vitality. Toughness is crap, and it seems worse on thief. Full toughness and no vitality will leave you still at 10850 HP, and you’ll still melt just as easily from a BS thief/100B warrior if you don’t watch your back. Toughness also does nothing against condition damage, where as vitality does.
It is indeed still broken, but you can still mitigate the problem. Using certain skills while then stealing immediately will not initiate autoattack, because you are currently activating a skill.
What I like to do is dodge and use steal mid dodge. Works 100% of the time if you get your timing right, and I’m specced for caltrops on dodge meaning when I steal and dodge at the same time I’ll also place caltrops at his feet.
Also, you can’t really “set” this up mid combat but if you steal and the opponent is behind you, it will not initiate auto attack. It’s great against backstab thieves, especially with the skill (stealth applies blind)
The biggest strength is that you can escape practically everything, hence the name thief. Thieves are the most mobile, extremely powerful in 1v1s(depending on the build type), but are weak in zergs.
I love it, personally. It’s what the thief is all about, and if stealth was somehow taken out of the game, I hope something like this would replace it.

A stronger SoR will benefit everyone in T1.
SoR is at least as strong as BG. This was proven by them coming in second last week. According to SoR posters, not a single one of them put in any overtime last week so that was their normal coverage.
Lots of overtime was had. Many major guilds on SoR also ran NA events in Asian time zone(people were told to wake up early if they are on the east coast). It’s actually become the norm now to help out our Asians who lack the numbers until we get more transfers.
I don’t like the idea but I would love to backstab a ballista shot..
I kind of enjoy making enemy zergs chase me, yet are unable to catch me.

The Sword/Pistol #3 skill was nerfed because people complained it was too overpowered, so Anet nerfed it by a 15% damage reduction.
Haste is now nerfed, and the instantaneous burst damage cannot be attained such as before. Can we get a revert of this skill? It was such a wonderful skill, especially in PvE. Sad to see that it was even considered for a nerf.
I don’t think the queues are that long…I usually get 30 minutes max NA primetime in EB

Yishi’s videos, Wild Bill’s, Excalas, and the video shown in the OP are prefect examples of the horrible level of skill people have in this game. Everyone in those videos they are playing against are simply put, pure trash. I don’t mean to be harsh, but when people are using it as an example to get things changed in game, we should be paying attention to it.
Any decently skilled person with a balanced build can 1v3. I do it myself and come out on top all the time. The problem is playing two guys who know what they are doing. Then the tide changes. Being in Tier 1 I see ALOT of these film makers in WvW. They aren’t as good as they are portrayed to be. I’ve even killed some myself.
As good as a once pay game can hope to achieve. Gw2 is still lively, but only in lions arch and WvW(with the occasional dragon). Go to divinity’s reach, black citadel, the grove, it’s abandoned and depressing. The game is still strong, but we need a real expansion, and soon.

I was more worried to the nerf about caltrops, TBH.
15s to 10s does nothing in WvW(unless the dude stands in the AoE for 15 seconds), but has a pretty profound effect in PvE.
Hide in a corner, chain stealth, kill lord
It’s not a challenge. I’ve solo’d dozens by now.
Change to supervisor 5min buff makes it impossible in under 30 seconds though.
You get robbed by a thief and when the cops try to chase him you respond
“don’t bother, he’ll just stealth away and waypoint”
I actually got The Lover a few hours ago. Used exotics. Bought about 50 rares and got one unnamed exotic. I then bought 13 exotics(unnamed, level 75-80). Got The Lover on the first try.
Keep in mind I was extremely lucky, and you may not be the same, but in my case it paid off big time.
But if you’re going to make the jump, use exotics, not rares. From my guild alone more precursors have been had from exotic combinations, not rares.

I think the lag is more of people running in 100man zergs for WXP now, not the culling removal.
It isn’t an issue. If it was an issue, the majority of the players would be for changing it to stop the zerging, but based on what I’ve seen, 99% of wvwers role with zergs, meaning they problem support it.
Now I agree with you guys(except it will calm down over the next week or so if we are patient), but we are a minority here.
With the WvW patch out of the way, Anet will be able to concentrate on some really cool stuff. I hope they actually release an expansion next(Jormag, anyone?).
I’ve always been a caltrops thief. I run a caltrops build. As far as the patch goes, it’s hard to tell with constant skill lag while these 100man zergs are running around, which hopefully will die down soon. What I can tell you is that my thief is still solid. The 4s revealed change messes up my timing, but other than that, it’s alright. Caltrops change sucks for PvE, but in WvW, with the dodge caltrops buff, it’s still really effective. A good trade off.
I wasted 60G on keys and didn’t get any. I then got kitten and went to LA to mystic forge rares and on the first try got The Lover.
RNG is a strange creature sometimes…
Elementalist is the best class in the game in that it’s the most versatile.
You can do staff zerg buster, support & healing, tanking, mobility roaming, there’s even a burst build.
The fact that a thief can wait for Stealth to wear off naturally, attack you and then go right back into stealth with Cloak and Dagger allows stealth to be chained endlessly.
Now, granted you aren’t going to stand there and wait for them to keep attacking you
These two statements contradict each other. If he can’t hit you with CnD, he can’t stealth. With the new culling fix, unless he had precise, unhumanlike timing down to the millisecond you should easily have enough time to dodge that CnD. Dodging two of those will waste 10 initiative, minus the 1-2 he gains during that time
