LOL stealth in spvp? You’re joking right? You can’t even contest points in stealth, stealth heavy builds in spvp are not nearly as powerful in WvW. Add to the fact that the damage is generally a lot less in spvp and revealed lasts 4s.
If I were to quit spvp because of a class, it would be tank/healway guardian. Being able to tank 3 people for that long until reinforcements can respawn and run all the way back is lame.
I see SoR still dominating NA prime.
Thanks to EU & SEA we no longer wake up to a low ppt against highly upgraded keeps so our normal 350 PPT peak can be attained much earlier during NA primetime as opposed to near the end of NA primetime.
I’m just sad they removed the planks. I get that there’s alot of consumable WvW hate stemming from GEARS, but honestly outside the JP planks were harmless, and now that Anet is going to turn the JP into a death pit, why not reintroduce planks? Hours of fun were had doing this.
turns out if you fire your cannon mastery cannon at golems, they die really fast.

I hate it when I’m leveling my alt and I run across an 80. I’m dead meat, then they /laugh on me
In group fights though, people still tend to target the upleveled, which I don’t understand. They do little damage. I always go for the ones that do the most damage(biggest threat) and save the tankies/low dps for last.
Thieves are not all powerful in WvWvW, but there is no denying the latest patch made them overly popular. And there has always been lots of thieves in WvWvW. When the culling was broken, I often called it Thief Wars 2, because sometimes I could e.g. see 5 people on our side, each and every one being thieves. How is that for a game balance?
Of course you can beat thieves in combat, but most people agree: fighting against them is no fun. But can you kill a really good thief? Fighting them is extremely annoying as they remain visible very short amount of time and dodge while visible or keep teleporting short range. Many duo thief teams can achieve almost permanent invisibility, which in my honest opinion should be fixed.
Thieves still enjoy the advantage of being the best roaming profession and best professions to prey upon the flanks of a fleeing enemy group. They can snipe dolyaks, venture deep behind enemy lines, snipe the tail of an fleeing zerg and initiate combat against solo roamers without much any risk at all. In worst scenario they can always enter stealth, shadowstep and then heartseeker spam/infiltrator’s arrow teleport away. This allows thieves to run glass cannon builds, which would not be that viable with other professions. Low risk, high reward <— a clear sign some balancing should be done.
Few things should be changed:
- Revert the revealed back to 4 seconds in WvWvW. 3 seconds is too short considering the size of the map and chaotic nature of the combat. Besides thieves in WvWvW have much easier time entering stealth than in pvp setting. They rarely ever get knocked out of shadow refuge and they can use whatever forest animal etc. to grant stealth with cloak & dagger (it is much easier to land C&D on an animal or NPC than a human player who tries to avoid that).
- Currently sword #2 (infiltrator’s strike/shadow return) allows unlimited range teleport. This basically can give the thief a superbly powerful way to get out of combat or do the supply runs faster than any other profession. This should be reduced to max 1200 range.
- Reduce the amount of stealth you can get from combo fields. Thieves have the best blast finishers in the game: clusterbomb. Black powder + clustercomb = area stealth. Combine that with right mix of traits e.g. patience —> perma stealth. Fix: reduce the amount of how many seconds of stealth you can get from smoke field into half.
- Larcenous strike is a bit too good at the moment. Either increase its initiative cost or make is steal only 1 boon.
- Stealth stomp should not work. This should of course affect all professions e.g. mesmers and engineers also denied of doing stealth stomps.Note that I am NOT suggesting these game balancing changes to other forms of the game, only WvWvW.
If they took out stealth stomps they should also remove invulnerability stomps as well as stability stomps/haste stomps.
infiltrators arrow is about 33%(if i remember right) less effective than heartseeker for distance gaining. dont feel like writing it out but it really is….. just a helpful tidbit.
I still think the arrow is better. Heartseeker isn’t instant teleport, plus it tends to snag things which gets you in combat and infiltrator’s arrow is great for teleporting up small cliffs and completely past enemies without hitting them head on.
I’m glad there’s a bunch of these silly “OP” threads, because it shows how silly the real ones are. Anet, you guys need to understand that there will always be cries for balancing changes. Very few of these are legit. This has gotten out of hand and it’s become a joke that players can get an entire profession they are having trouble with nerfed by crying on the forums. Hopefully when the forums are spammed with mindless trolls and their OP threads, you will finally get the message that this whole cat and mouse balancing game is silly. You are slowly killing thief, ele, guardian, engi, and mesmer classes for what? Ranger?

If you just like to roam, I would scratch both those classes and in turn make an elementalist(or thief).
From those two, roaming only, I’d say ranger w/ regen tank build. They are suprisingly mobile while the guardian is slow, and can be extremely tanky.
All the time. It gets you out of risky situations. As a P/D thief, your entire goal is to kite by whatever means necessary. Thieves who are not utilizing this against gap closing professions, as well as using tons of cripple or that classic mistake of CnD -> immediate sneak attack without getting some distance will fail. Remember we aren’t backstab thieves.
Size : 400 radius (same as swirling winds)
Cost: 25 supply
Effect: Remove Stealth on all characters withing area every 3 seconds for 3 minutes.would something like this be ok? its enough so that one person cant do it and big enough so its not OP but also effective enough inside any tower and most “cappable” areas.

That sounds fair. It should not, whatsoever, ever, in any way, be a spammable consumable. It should have a CD that is long, or be a siege tool.
The trap should also activate whether or not a player is in stealth

Woah…a trap that can potentially remove a profession mechanic altogether. It’s like if a trap could remove warrior’s adrenaline or guardians’s virtues.

They better implement it right. I want traps to act as siege that requires 5 supply to build with a large radius that is meant to be placed inside towers/keeps to prevent a thief from kittenoing in there. I do not want a pay 2 win against thieves deal where a rich guy can simply buy as many traps and he wants and spam them in battle just like Gears. If they did that 99% of thieves would probably quit the game.
Best be logging into TS. You can whisper indo for it or a known commander for the TS information. Primetime usually starts 4 PST, and thats when guilds like FEAR, Choo, TW, HL, Tysm(sorry if I didn’t mention others. I had to keep it short so I picked the largest guilds off the top of my head) run on a borderland and becomes very organized. One thing I think we need improvement on is that our commanders communicate in TS, and rarely type in map chat, so if you aren’t in TS, you are going to miss out. Euro time SoR has almost nobody on and the timezone between NA and oceanic is very hectic. The most important thing you need to do is come into TS because that is where all the organization takes place. If you need help whisper me in game during NA primetime and I can help you out getting started. Hope this helps!
The large majority of thieves get their main stealth from Cloak and Dagger. All you need to do it dodge it and they don’t get stealth. That is your counter.
Shadow refuge = deathtrap. AoE bomb/pull/push(I love trolling thieves with guardian bubble shield #5)
Which only leaves blinding powder and hide in shadows, really.
Other than that, there is a small percentage of thieves who use D/P, which I hate because you can’t counter their stealth. Only balancing issue I think the thief has is D/P

Most likely because it’s thursday night and the match is over. People are most likely in the JP farming siege and there is little push because there is no point. Not suprised by SoR pushing though. We haven’t been playing the ppt game(no point against massive coverage, we would lose anyways), unlike BG and JQ who have been pushing for #1 all week, and are most likely burned out.

I do think it’s a bit contradicing when you say an unorganized group can quickly do it, because it actually takes some organization with pugs. I can’t tell you how many times PUGS will place down wrong fields of not stack and we end up losing half of them when we regroup.
I never said this. Please quote the part you believe says this and I will explain because unorganized pugs do not take proper advantage of water fields. They do not stack, they stack in aoes, they contaminate the water fields, they overlap them, etc.

That actually seems about right. You can expect some more damage if you put more points into the power trait, but realistically speaking, full exotic zerker backstabs won’t hit nearly as high as people exaggerate them to be, unless it’s on an underleveled/undergeared.

And ppl thought I was crazy for getting Infinite Light on my thief (Paralyzation Rune ftw)
For looks, I paired it with a berserker transmuted AC dungeon Dagger, that blue glow plus gold dust from the sword look AWESOME together. I use Sigil of the Night for 10% bonus damage on the dagger as well. Synergy!!!
I was actually 50G away from my Infinite Light when I decided not to because reveal nerf. I then did something really stupid and lost all 750G to the forge.
Biggest GW2 regret
Was fun at BG BL NW tower. We had so many ACs it became a farm. Wave after wave of BGs got melted by so many ACs.

The best part was when seemingly at far treb got taken out by an AC master Arrow cart. The range and power of them are borderline OP to OP._. One could only imagine how 3 AC masters could defend a fortified tower. Would be hell for attacking team.
SoR needs to start forming Arrow Cart Asian Defense Teams when we’re heavily outmanned!
If I wanted to run pure rofl stomp then I would. D/P thieves would be near invincible. If I ran a stealth spam build I could keep 50% of my combat time invulnerable. Just seems way over the top. Although maybe there is some sarcasm I am missing.
@Doom, warriors are actually surprisingly mobile, even before this patch.
Yeah, actually one of the most mobile classes I’ve seen. I just don’t think they should be that mobile. Just my opinion though :P
Always thought of the warrior as the slow guy who deals tons of damage + reliably tanky. I guess that sorta fits the guardian more but just my thoughts.

I was in EB at the time and I don’t recall SM getting flipped by SoR, but it does sound lulzy!
HL is a great guild and they do extremely well with the numbers they have :P
Most of them are really bad. I saw at least 12 thieves tonight. All were either running pure zerker d/d or S/D zerker with some HP mixed in. I guess it’s because everyone seems to be new to it, but S/D zerker just doesn’t seem like a good build. S/D PTV + zerker trinks is pretty deadly though.
But nothin beats good ole P/D or D/P :P

Is there an official response from Anet? I don’t always use all carrion gear, so it’s disappointing when I can only pick between the amulets, leaving mix & match out of the equation, especially when testing builds for WvW

IMO, things are finally evening out, with the exception of a few tiers. I have a feeling a tier reset would mess it all up. :/
I really like the PvE. Not gonna lie, it’s probably the best, but it gets old fast and eventually everyone succumbs to jormag farming.
