Changing the autoattack will kill 90% of the Pistol mainhand thieves: P/D thieves. The buffs aren’t strong enough to attract a new community too. The only thing this would do is kill whatever pistol mainhand users we have left, aside from the extremely rare p/p thief.
When fighting a P/D thief, you need to be careful about your clones. They are easy CnD targets which give him stealth. I suggest shattering the clones as he does the CnD animation to waste his ini. Dodge if he’s trying to CnD you. That would deny him most of his stealth, then it’s just a matter of putting on confusion…
I wonder if EMP will take any guilds with them. They are a pretty huge influence..

I was talking to my friend earlier and he told me their leader made a decision and pretty much placed the guild in a situation of ‘transfer with us or deal with it’. I heard the guild is split and more than half of them disagree with Rawnoodles’s decision and have decided to stay on JQ!

I’ve seen this ranger in one of the old T2 dueling events that wrecked some of the best D/D eles I knew. Took a P/D thief (me, xD) to take him down. I think his build focused on lots of healing, evade. His damage looked like it came from fury and might.
Vital shot should inflict weakness, not vulnerability. It makes a lot of sense when you take into perspective that you are a thief.
The one in last place, which has actually lost guilds, is not the most at risk? I’m not saying that it’s about to fall apart here, but if someone’s going to drop, they are simply the most likely at this time.
If you are referring to the guilds Agg and FoE, they left because they didn’t like the zerg that T1 can be. They wanted smaller fights, nothing to do with the server, everything to do with being in T1.

FoE left too? I remember playing with them in ET back in the day and against them here in T1, great bunch of people that put up a heck of a fight and have some fantastic tactics. But you are right, such is the nature of T1, at least until Anet introduce some mechanics to promote less zerging.
When FoE transferred to BG, I heard they as a guild were dying. I remember a post from one of them saying they could field at best, 10 players on BG. Probably true since I haven’t seen a FoE zerg on BG. Back on SoS, when SoR first entered T1, they ran a huge zerg, though, if I can recall…

But in all seriousness I run into 1v1s all the time in open field, like constantly. Do you mostly hang on one borderland?
I stopped solo roaming a while back, mainly because I never run into 1v1s. It always ends up being 1v5 or 5v1, which is pretty stupid. I like have havoc groups always complain about the zergs outnumbering you but aren’t afraid to 5v1 a solo roamer. Tier 2 was much better for solo roaming :P
Team JQ is still accepting all challengers for the T1 title. You can fight us zerg v zerg, gvg, 5v5, 1v1, yak vs yak, smack vs smack 24/7 7 days a week, we are available for your wvw pleasure.

You’re gonna get queues on all T1 servers. At reset night it can be pretty bad. I suggest skipping Tier 1 and going to Tier 2. Some great action last time we were there.
I like the idea of hit and run. Say, that sniper that you just can’t seem to get. The rifle should be a 1200, slow shooting by potentially deadly weapon. It should not, however, get a one shot insta win everytime button. It should instead be very situational. By that I mean, giving the rifle more damage if you shoot from behind, or hitting an opponent out of combat. It should be the “surprise” type of weapon. It should not be a viable weapon in combat. I just don’t picture a thief like that. What would really be cool is a 100% damage boost from behind on a certain skill(That uses a cooldown, not initiative) with a 3s casting time and damage similar to a backstab if hit from behind. If hit in the front, minimal damage would be done. If hit in the back, we’re looking at 6-7K for clothies with minimal toughness.
If the damage to backstab were to be nerfed, I think this is a great idea to help compensate.
AoE cap doesn’t do anything when a small group gets stunned/immobilized to death by a group of 20 almost every time.
Most of the times when I run into even a group of 4 I get chain CC’d and die by glass cannons before I can break out. That part is pretty ridiculous…
There should be a debuff on immobilize and CCs in general. Get CC’d/immobilized for longer than 5s then you become immune for 5s
What if you are on JQ as a commander and attack both SoR and BG on a nightly basis?
Tonight as a perfect example of those who were on BG BL. For the record, I’m not trolling, more of a match report in short. JQ was on BG’s fully upgraded garrison at inner. SoR comes and hits us with a decent amount of force.
At this point I switch focus to SoR and fully wipe them off of the map, and then log because I have a massive headache. Now, I do this typically almost every night. I have to fight both servers…nightly. This means setting up scouts all over the map and countering anything that comes in at me while launching a proper offensive.
Let’s get some basics down, let’s educate everyone at once. How about deploying proper tactics and making it harder to take your with holdings. Tonight I take a Hills keep and there were literally no scouts at south hills. 2 Alpha golems on a reinforced gate. You guys know how long that takes right? Also, earlier in the night, yeah I had a headache at startup too.., I was at watergate Garrison of BG, again no scout, I was able to build a ballista, take down all visible siege that a ballista can take down and get the gate down to 50 before we had a proper response.
How many times do you think an opposition fighting teams that are having good response times and thwarting any efforts of progression are going to continue? You have to keep in mind there is morale at stake. If your team is getting constantly beat by team A, maybe team B might be an easier time on your guys and build up some morale. I’ll admit it, I’ve had nights to where I have had to do just that. You play the map.
I guess my point and question would be this, is this not already happening? I experience it first hand every day I’m in the game with both servers coming at me. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’ll refrain from trash talking in this thread. I would also like to point out that you are not on my side of the screen and see what’s happening. So, if this is not already happening, especially on every map I’m on every night, then please explain what exactly is happening.
Again, read this with a normal calm tone of voice, because I have a massive headache and not meaning to sound crass. If my wording is off, well…then my wording is off.

We all run zergballs. This argument is absolutely ridiculous. If you don’t want zergball don’t go to T1, because zergballs are around every map on every server.

People complain about Confusion just like they did with TI and Mass Betrayal in Rift…People like to spam abilities….They also don’t like to pay attention.
People like to complain about P/D thieves because they don’t like to save their endurance and pay attention to dodging CnDs.
People also like to nerf classes they have trouble with and defend things that they like to use.
Forums can’t be taken seriously, people are in it for their own benefit and want to nerf things they hate, and not nerf things they like, regardless of whether they are OP or not. “Overpowered” is just a scapegoat term. A lie used to give people the advantage over others. Having trouble with thieves? Don’t care to learn how to counter? NERF! Love your confusion? Don’t want it taken away? DON’T NERF!
AFTR, confusion is fine. Nothing in WvW is unbalanced profession wise. Constant changes appealing to crybabies will cause unbalance.

I think there is too much CC spam in this game as their is.
Was it really Anet’s intention to have players not able to do anything while they die? It ruins the flow of combat. As it stands, CC favors mobs in WvW, and it’s absolutely ridiculous how you get CC locked versus large groups and get melted before the CC wears off. There needs to be a debuff on it. Immune to CC for 10s after CC which lasts longer than 2s is applied.
Number 2 pistol skill is absolute trash.
Both should use D/P.
That way, one guy can put down a black powder and both of you can heartseeker through it, effectively sharing stealth and saving so much initiative.
Two things need to be done
A) Remove the AoE cap
B) Add a debuff for CCs
As it stand, a small group of 10 doesn’t stand a chance a zerg of 35 people because
A) AoE cap removes most damage they do
B) They get permanently stunned by all the CC spam and end up dying before they can react. Pop a stunbreaker? 1 second later, you get CC locked again.
The biggest problem is the CC, imo, since you can’t even activate a skill while you get bursted down instantly. There should be a debuff for that. If you get CC’d, you become immune to CC for 5 seconds. Or take an idea from ESO and let players use endurance to become immune to CC for a few seconds. That’s great idea.
Thief is the pug stomper class. This is based on personal experience. I can easily destroy a group of 3 pugs, but when it comes to two guys who know what they are doing, I die easily.
When players see a thief stealth, they have no clue what to do.
“Omg, he disappeared?!!? Where’d he go?” swings sword randomly
But in reality, what he should be really doing is standing in an AoE circle, immediately move backwards away from the thief(to prevent backstab, which requires the thief to be up close) if he has no AoE. They should also be dodging the CnDs. Many pugs I play like to dodge my pistol shot that does 200 damage and gives 1 stack of bleed, when they really should be saving their endurance to dodge the CnD, effectively denying stealth and wasting 6 initiative(at least i think it’s 6). Dodge a few of those and he’s kittened.
Another reason are videos from known players (wild bill, yishi, even excala in the D/D ele sense). These players aren’t gods. Not nearly. Not even close. I see many in game since most in are Tier 1. Nothing truly impressed me other than they can kill pugs with ease, which any half decent dude can do. Even watching the videos, almost all of them are pugs or are horrible. I constantly see in those videos enemies reviving already dead players where the thief takes chunks out of his HP. Stupid things like that which make people think the thief is OP.
Problem is there is no trait points in power.
Crit damage basically multiples your power, but if you have low power in the first place, it will not be as high.
For example 2(this is your power) times 5(this is your crit damage) = 10
Versus 4(this is your power) times 4(this is your crit damage) = 16
I do believe that is how it works, although my example is just an example and is probably not the formula used, but more power = more damage overall.
Also, this may sound stupid, but are you sure you are backstabbing them from behind? Many thieves i see backstab me in front when backstabbing from behind should do an extra 100% damage.
Also run ruby orbs on your jewels. It results in more damage.
For PVE/dungeons I would go with S/P and S/D
Being able to hit multiple targets plus the nice evades is effective. Plus enemies will not walk out of your pistol whip. You also get blind fields with the NPCs will stand in, so if you get mobbed, it is very effective.
I would run withdraw using
All PVT gear(You can get it from karma vendors in orr, or invaders gear in wvw) and berserker jewels.)
Not sure on trait allocation but there should be plenty if you look up some thief s/d builds.
The most ideal thing would be
Siege now takes 33% of the supply needed to be built
Siege now does 50% more damage
Walls/Doors take 25% less damage from siege
Looking for duels? Can’t find any? Look no further!

Theres just something about CC on an initiative and autoattack system that would ruin the enjoyability of people.
Already enough CC spam in this game, imo.

Feedbacks. I don’t see how AC’s wouldn’t mow them down. In this case, it would do much more damage as they are all standing in one easy spot for the ACs which have a high AoE cap(i think around 50).
Or just run a melee train through them…
I would do a condition build, probably P/D. Full carrion. I would also use the mesmer clones to CnD off of, but be careful as they may shatter if he knows what he is doing.
Do not run shadow refuge, it’s a death trap versus a smart mesmer.
Run condition cure in stealth
Do not run caltrops on dodge. Otherwise you will be hit by confusion when you dodge.
Use a condition build. It helps you spot the player(giant numbers coming from his head) and does damage to him even if you stop attacking due to confusion stacks.
Use a stunbreaker. I prefer rolling for initiative, or shadowstep for condition cure.
Don’t stand in his confusion fields.
Run blind on stealth (it blinds the clones as well)
Use thieves guild. As a condition build they will still do tons of damage and distract his clones.
Run caltrops utility. It damages everything in the area. The clones and the mesmers and is area denial.
I had a skirmish with about 7 enemy players, had 4 guys running with me. we downed some of them but the had thieves and revived them in stealth. When i had alot of abilities on cooldown i was jumped by a thief that used steal to hit me for about 4k damage, cloak and dagger for another 4 k and then hit me for 7 k with backstab all in about 2 seconds. i had about 5k hp left which he easily finished off while i had no abilities left due to cooldown. I dont see where skill is involved in being able to do that kinda damage in 2 seconds
You said it yourself, you had your abilities on cooldown.
If a thief had no intiative left and his utilities on cooldown he would be met with a fast defeat.
300-400 ppt on weeknights vs uplevels, thats like being 20 years old and winning a race at an elementary school track meet. Congrats.

All classes have roles they excel in over other classes.
It depends what type of player you are. Do you like running support and mass cc? Guardian. Like zerg busting? Elementalist. Roaming? Thief.
List goes on.
Could care less about 1 extra second.

Divinity’s Reach especially. It’s such an awesome city. IMO, it blows Lions Arch away by a milestone, but it’s not ‘endgame’ so it’s pretty much abandoned. I would love to see Anet do more to attract people’s attention to home cities. Maybe free waypoints? Dynamic events that occur in the city? A mystic forge is needed to, of course. Wintersday was awesome in that you can actually see people coming back to these awesome cities, and the SAB makes Rata Sum lively again. Hopefully we can get some more stuff for these places instead of Lions Arch…
