Mount Debate

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dusty Moon.4382

Dusty Moon.4382

This thread is not a suggestion, but more of a open debate for why we do or do not need mounts. It is intended to focus all our arguments into one thread to view how the community feels about Mounts.

lets keep it clean, simple, and professional.. No insulting others and no using “just because we don’t want this” excuse.

ill start
Reasons For Mounts
-Easier exploring
ALREADY HAVE MORE PORTALS THAN NEEDED IN GAME – mounts add nothing

-Faster Travel
ALREADY HAVE SPEED BOOST SKILLS IN MOST PROFESSIONS – Will not get more than 30% speed boost – A.Net has says so and that is why is you use a speed boost from the TP and use your 30% speed boost skill, you only get 30% and that speed boost you bought is negated

-Looks Cool
Looks stupid to me – this is a nonsense argument

-Anet can make money on Mount “Skins”
The so called skins are not in game currently and there are plenty of protests out there already about stuff that was in game for a short time – SAB

-It can be balanced properly

No it can’t and not easily – since a speed boost is part of the build balance one has to make, having an automatic speed boost negates some of the builds currently present in the game. You are making the game have fewer builds this way.

-Do not see how it hurts lore
Since they are not in lore currently, how will you balance the LORE HISTORY currently out there?

-can be useful in World v World if balanced correctly
No – WvW already slows to a crawl with big groups, having mounts will just exacerbate the problem. Would not be useful in such a small map. Would prevent more battles and WvW would end up being another KARMA train area

Reasons Against Mounts
-We have waypoints – There are plenty of WAYPOINTS – most areas are a small walk away from one

-We are already going 25 MPH with Swiftness – it is actually 30% speed boost and they said that will be the max speed boost in game

-Unnecessary for Proper Gameplay – This game was designed without mounts so YES it is the way the game was meant to be played

-People will complain if some mounts cost Gems – not going to worry about this one*

-Exploitable if not balanced – every game I have played with mounts, it is the most uninvolved play – they break immersion for me

-Will make exploring TOO easy. Exploring is already too easy. What you want is a kitten experience
-“we dunt want WoW stuffz” (people comlaining that this game is turning into WoW)

NOT in LORE
Would be hard to add in as the game was NOT DESIGNED TO HAVE THEM

Mobs are not designed to deal with mounts – they would all have to be redesigned to have an anti-mount skill

Please fuel the fire, but do be professional and nice to others.

None of your pro-mount arguments mean anything. I have countered each one and unless you can come up with ways to take those into account – this is not a discussion.

The pro-mount people have to come up with better arguments than the tired ones stated above. As stated about debates, the side trying to change or sway has to have amazing reason as to why it should change. None of the above come to the level above stupid and egotism (the ’HEY LOOK AT ME, I HAVE A MOUNT! phrase comes to mind)

Also, in Dry Top, how are you going to deal with all the jumping with a mount?

As far as wild horses in the 2nd GW novel – they were being used as food by the Charr. So there are horses? That means nothing. Horses were here on earth way before they were used as a mount for soldiers – that is a nonsense argument again.

To the OP, You said be civil and yet you have not been civil at all. All you do is belittle people who disagree with you. So much for your rules you set out.

I think it will be Crystal Desert. There was a line about Kalkatorrik in the LS2 cut scenes also.

Trying to justify a hissy fit is just another indication of a lack of maturity in my opinion.

Yup – it is a bloody game for pete’s sake. It is not like your life will end if the game isn’t as great as you expect it to be. I think the big problem is the ‘Entitled’ mentality in today’s society. It is prevalent everywhere.

Anet is out of touch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dusty Moon.4382

I think first – players are unrealistic with their expectations and demands – yes demands. Trying to be a bully on a forum, to get what you want, is the wrong way to go about getting anything. It seems that is the norm for game forums now a days.

Second, people really need to stop READING into things stuff that isn’t there. Like the SAB aficionados. A.Net said it won’t be introduced during the LS2 part of the game. They didn’t say never. But, since SAB isn’t out WHEN THEY WANT IT, they are protesting and stomping their feet like 2 yr. olds. Sad – very sad.

Third, yes A.Net could be a little more forthcoming with information as long as players don’t jump on them or come to conclusions. Forum posters have been down right nasty to A.Net employees who do post information so I understand where they are coming from.

Housing could be very good and draw in more players that like that play style as well
as long as it is good like everquest 2 style would be amazing

Can draw in ppl who love to decorate can add tuns of new crafting can add new rare recipe drops -tp able tho- can even add in supper rare house deeds from boss drops
can charge rent silver + karma sink, gold-karma for better houses Travel portals and i can add about 100 other awesome things

Housing is just another gold sink that people will complain about. Also, I don’t get the house thing at all.

Ok i can understand there is no time in development plan for it or will or money. But why they cannot relase allready made content and leave it permanent until updates are made ???

Since SAB does not fit in with the LS2 and they are releasing content that does, it doesn’t make sense, currently. I see that.

SAB was never linked with living story and it is not connected with lore it was just fun thing to do like mini games.

SAB came out on April Fools day, initially. So it was tagged with a day.

So, that is what A.Net said – not fits in with what is currently beign released. What is so hard to understand about that. I guess y’all need to have your conspiracy theories. I know, maybe Martians stole the code.

The fact that they can’t speak about the long-term plans for SAB to me means they’ve halted development of it for now. Meaning we should not expect it any time soon.

It’s just so frustrating when they’ve already invested the time for 2 installments of the game (2 worlds with multiple levels), gem store purchase items (coin and boombox), multiple minis, created great music, achievements, etc. And now it has just stopped.

I am deeply disappointed by this. I’m not one to jump to conclusions, but Matt’s response to the question really points to the fact that SAB is something they might work on after they are happy with PvE, PvP, and WvW changes. I mean I’m happy they are addressing those as well, we were just hoping SAB will be done in conjunction with those other update, instead of them working on it after everything else.

And I don’t get the people who hated it being happy it isn’t coming back. I mean, it’s not like you guys were playing it anyway, what affect does it have on you whether or not it is returning. Continue not playing it, we don’t care.

Being one of those “haters”, I am glad they’ve ceased development on it. I felt (and still feel) it was wasted effort in a pitiful side game to appeal to some old 8-bit days of old school platforming. I felt it added little to the GW2 experience that could have been better spent elsewhere.

That said, I don’t understand why they would just let what already IS done sit there off the table. Since the development is on the back burner, why not throw the two worlds that ARE done permanently in game? So, on that score, I’m with ya.

They haven’t said they ceased development. They haven’t said it won’t be in game at some time. Y’all are reading more into that interview than what is there. They said, FOR NOW, that SAB will not be in game. That does not mean it will never be in game again.

People are up in arms over nothing and y’all jump to conclusions too much.

Ugh I wish the ip was owned and controlled by an entity with money and staff. Watching you lay in an expanding puddle of blood is sad. I get if you hated SAB. But man, somebody get the hose.

Considering the staff and revenues they have there is no way that they are all still working on GW2. Considering the little content we’ve had in the last year they have to be working on some new game or expansion.

How do you know what staff they have and how much money they have?. Remember A.Net get what money they have from NCSoft, so ask there. If A.Net has 350 employees , that is not a lot, considering Blizzard is at 7500 and others are just as big. That is not a very big company for such a big game. I am not saying that they may not be working on an expansion but that is up to the parent company.

I am thinking because of the way this forum is, that A.net is playing it close to the vest. I mean people just jump on things so bad. All you have to do is look at they way people are reacting to the news that SAB won’t be released again in the near term. You would think Jesus was just crucified in front of their eyes. It seems people think that all A.Net has to do is answer their questions and stroke their egos.

in Account & Technical Support

Dusty Moon.4382

I have slowdowns but no crashes. Remember there is a lot of equipment between your PC and the game server that could have issues. I have done a tracert to guildwars2.com and saw that two routers in between have been having issues. They are part of the main backbone so that maybe what is going on.

Also, other games are also saying they are having DDOS attacks and that maybe another issue.

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Dusty Moon.4382

Dusty Moon.4382

I don’t have the crash issues at all and I am not on a TOTL PC. Part of the problem is with your connections and how many jumps in between. If one of the routers in the middle chokes, then you have a crash because the game has does not the information needed.

Check your connections and everything in between your PC and the game server.

SAB was by far the best content imo. Anet can release that as stand alone game and I will pay full price for that without blink of the eye.

It was OK once – but it was boring after that. I do understand people have this need for Nostalgia and that is what that brought into the game.

This the beauty of GW2… tons of ppl have bought the game, and a good deal of them have left, BUT they can just as easily come back with a click of a button when(if) anet adds the things that are missing to hold ppls interest.

There’s obviously a very healthy number of players currently playing, but it can be MUCH higher because the MMO market just isn’t that great and anet has the key – No sub to play, free content updates.

GW2 sold millions, but millions aren’t playing this game (talking strictly NA+EU here) …that much I can speculate.

Plenty are happy with the current state of the game, but like every game, it can be much better, and with GW2, the potential is very high. xpac like content has to happen, its in the best interest of anet, financially speaking… you aren’t going to lose players, only gain if you add the things that left many players to “take a break” from this game..

Me and most of my guildies have been “taking a break” for the past 6+ months because what holds our interest, and many others, is WvW/PvP… both of these systems have been badly neglected for a while…until anet actually does something about it, we will continue to take a break.. but the nice thing is we can still team up every now and then and run some tPvP or roam around in WvW as a group.. but its just gotten so stale and boring with the little attention WvW/PvP recieves in this game..

The thing is – once there’s something new to explore – say, Star Citizen – I probably won’t be back, because it’s not worth the time.

This is how MMO’s die.

MMO’s die like that are Sub games. This game doesn’t have one so you can come and go as you like.

Star Citizen is a cash grab, just like ArcheAge is – there is no Alpha of SC but you can buy a bunch of ships already. If they game NEVER comes out, you are without the cash you spent on that game. This is the latest trend by developers – make players pay up front and deliver nothing.

To my understanding you can only stack 25 conditions of the same type. All other conditions of that type applied afterwards are basically wasted.

Basically – it is the same with players too.

An interview got posted on GuildMag which says we won’t see SAB for a loooooooooooooooong time considering they want to ‘focus on other parts of the game first’ (we all know what that means, precursor crafting anyone?)

Sad day to be a SAB lover.

Doesn’t mean it won’t be back. People read doom and gloom into everything. It just means it won’t be part of LS2, which makes sense.

Not everybody will be happy with what they do, that is the truth. All things are compromise in this world. One just need to be realistic (not totally negative either) and the game will surprise us. I like the LS2 story so far, it has piqued my imagination and my interest.

I treat each game I play as unique to itself, so I am not always negative about how things develop. People could use more of that instead of always beating the drum that every game be the same (like mounts, housing, etc).

I am one of the anti-mount people. Too many games have mounts and they cause problems for people who don’t like mounts, such as dragging aggroed mobs to them, etc.

If they add mounts, I want the all the mobs to have a skill like Ethereal Burden to slow the mounts to 50% of walking speed. I also want the mounts to be able to be killed and then you have to wait a certain time before your mount can be used again. This will make mounts not very useful, I know, but it will make mount users THINK before using, which they don’t in most games. Mounts are the most unimmersive part of any game.

Mounts…no?

So let me assimilate this: people rather have “star trek look alike beam me up scotty” spawn and teleport points, over mounts?

And this in a mmorpg fantasy game? Why have an open map to explore then?

Ill tell you what i would like to see: mounts and fewer spawn points.

Then you don’t want this game. Waypoints are Asuran technology that was first mentioned in the GW novel Ghosts of Ascalon.

Mounts have not been mentioned.

Fantasy has all types of different ideas Not just one that looks medieval. I mean Steam Punk is a type of fantasy also and that is what GW2 technology is similar to.

Please get The LOTR type of fantasy out of your head as there are many more that are viable.

worse parts of playing a mesmer…

1) skill failure… in every encounter I have, there is at least 1 skill failure – normally it is illusionary leap… but it can literally be anything – at the moment I getting a lot of decoy skill failure – especially if trying to recloak after coming out of invisibility from another skill.

2) SLOW – mesmers are so slow… you can get by this using a focus or traveler runes but that limits your build options. For a class that has light armor then they should move faster than they do – it is easier for other classes to run away from you when they are losing

3) lack of damage… mesmers do not do a lot of damage. I can hit a warrior with maximum damage output and barely scratch them.

4) When it comes to zerg fighting you don’t get much loot and your role is limited.

The best thing about playing a mesmer is that it is challenging… especially if you try and stay away from the traditional builds. You can get some very good 1v1 fights.

Mesmer is also very good for scouting keeps… you can get about the keep very quickly with blink and portals for running supply, building and refreshing siege and checking gates.

With the right build you can solo supply camps quickly too.

Mesmers are more about condition than massive damage. Although I will tell you that a GS Mesmer can hit like a Mack Truck. When fighting a zerg I get plenty of loot. The big trick is knowing your build well, and I am getting there.

Mesmers are indispensable in WvW. The only mesmers playing right now, seem to be the good ones as it is a very hard profession to play (just like in GW1).

Even if mounts did not already exist in game (keep in mind that the term mount in the context of an MMO need not refer to a living creature) their current absence would not indicate a lore reason for future exclusion. If it did then:

We would not have Charr as a playable race.
We would not have Asurans as a playable race.
We would not have tanks, helicopters, auto-fire firearms, etc in game.
We would not have Asurans in the world at all.
Fractals of the Mist would not exist.
and so on.

All of these things did not exist in the game at one point and were added in, within the context of the lore of the setting.

Simply put, “X does not currently exist,” is not a lore reason for X to never exist. If it were then no game could ever add anything.

Charr were in Lore. After the Guild Wars, the Charr attacked the Humans because Humans were weakened due to the in-fighting. Hence why GW1, started with the Charr/Human war.

Asurans were chased up from the depths by the Destroyers. If they would not have come to the surface, they would surely have died as a race (see The World Summit).

Fire arms were a development of the Charr as a race of heavy industrialization. Guns, tanks, etc were their product.

Even the Sylvari were in GW1, well The Pale Tree was.

They were all fit into the lore or were part of the Lore from GW1. Saying they were just plunked in and invented outright is laughable.

My suggestion would be to expand on the dynamic event system. The idea was, and is, a sound one. I suspect people LIKE the idea… but the amount of events at launch lended themselves to become repetitive very, very quickly.

I would like to see more potential branches in the big zone arcs, which do more than just shift battle lines. The ability for example, to COMPLETELY push the centaurs out of Harathi for example (even if its just for a couple hours) would be neat and represent some lasting dynamic changes to the world… replaced by active events where the humans are trying to “tame” the area of wild beasts or collect materials for building.

The centaurs could then come back, in greater numbers each time they are forced out, and eventually restart the battle lines.

I understand that the living story is the big thing now, and it appears to be working the way Arena.net wanted, but I still think the dynamic event system they had was something they abandoned too quickly for something more structured.

I think this is a great idea…..

Those are not mounted NPC’s though… they aren’t even mounted Mobs… you are basically being asked to show us an apple, cannot find one, so you show us…a cumquat.

It serves to show that the concept of sentient beings riding animals existed in the game’s lore. You’re looking at the way that GW was coded instead of what those mobs say about the fictional game world.

Edit: “Some of the Mobs we fought in Guild Wars used mounts” is not a compelling argument for why Anet should make mounts available to players in Gw2.

It doesn’t show How mounts would be either necessary, or beneficial to the game.

I never said it did anything of the sort. And thank ou for acknowledging my point, which was that “Some of the mobs in GW used mounts.” This certainly counters the “It’s against the game’s lore!” argument.

Actually, it is NOT against the LORE – the lore for humans is NOT to have mounts. I mean EVEN RURIK walked through the Shiverpeaks in GW1. The foes are not what we play, so you can’t really use them as a justification.

The problem is that makes the people of Tyria stupid. Sentient beings use animals for any number of purposes, many of them labor-saving. Sociologically speaking, refusing to use animals for such purposes, including as mounts, is turning one’s back on something that can advance one’s civilization.

Cling desperately to your lore excuse all you want, but it’s a sham. Mounts were not implemented in GW for any number of design and game-play reasons, not because they wouldn’t fit into the world’s back story .

It is not a SHAM. The designers and developers of the game reasoned that since we already have waypoints, mounts are un-needed. Same can be said in GW1 – you had areas that went into areas with res shrines at the beginning and end. They were meant to be fought through.

As far as lore being ridiculous (which I don’t believe but you do apparently), here is an example. People in India do not eat beef because it is against their religion to kill cows. This is no different than no mounts in GW lore (I know it is a ridiculous argument but it gets the point across). Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it is not true.

Remember there is plenty of equipment between the GW2 server and your PC. People seem to ignore that fact.

Don’t know how to do that. But it just started today for me. Wonder if it had to do with not being active on the map while waiting for the event? Anyway, when coming back to a different map I noticed more players complaining about this.

Easy – Under the ol’ command prompt “tracert www.guildwars2.com” – just type "tracert’ and it will give you a help screen under the command prompt. You can see how bad mine is – 2 routers in the stream are timing out.

Which is the worst part of a Mesmer? His weak point?

Being Light Armor – although I play with Superior Earth Runes on Toughness armor and have no issues. Mesmers are more against one to 3 targets, not massive AoE, like eles.

Only having one skill for swiftness is tough and that is on a focus. Having Blink just puts you ahead slightly so that is a big problem.

Sorry – none of those would be considered mounts as the rider does not separates from the mount. They were designed as one piece and die as one piece. If it was a mount/rider, if the mount dies, the rider would dismount not die with it.

Try again.

Name one Friendly NPC that has/had a mount.

There were situational mounts in GW1 but you could not take them out of that particular instance and you became that mount (like the Wurms in the Desolation). Not at all the same.

About the whole " this is MY wish list" thing. This is a discussion board. There can be no discussion if all you do is say " I am allowed to wish for what I want."

People have a right to say why your wishes would be good or bad for the game. Or why they would be welcomd, or not welcomed. Why they would be beneficial or not beneficial.

If you did not expect or welcome discussion of your wish list… On a discussion board…. Not sure what to say here.

Maybe you should post this on your Blog?

I fail to understand the point of posting a non-discussion thread …. on a forum meant for discussion.

Will there be mounts?
No. For traveling long distance, the game will offer the two types of teleports above (waypoints and asura gates), but the game does not have any other methods, i.e. there are no mounts or ships. "

This seems pretty clear cut. No mounts = no mounts.

They seem to think No- Mounts = maybe. hmm people need to go back to school to learn what no means…

Suggestion: loading screen change

When sitting through a loading screen, after going through an Asura Gate, there should be a short movie that lasted as long as the loading screen would. This movie should look like going through a wormhole like in the TV show SG-1.

Even better, make the going through the wormhole a mini game. Dodge and avoid obstacles and earn karma and experience. Not a ton, but a little for fun. Maybe add an achievement. Basically, this system would replace the boring loading screen and add immersion while the game is able to load in the background.

I think A.net has better things to do with their time than making better loading screens. Putting a mini-game there, when they have mini-games people have been waiting for in game, would really cause hard feeling among players.

Yes A.NET did say no mounts – please read GW2 WIKI – it is in there. To ignore that fact is ludicrous to say the least.

No they didn’t, try checking the source instead of assuming the accuracy of what a fellow zealot edited in to the wiki. It’s an interview in which a developer specifically and exactly states that there would be no mounts at release, but then states that they could be an option for future development.

You missed my point. Title says “My wishlist”.
You can’t tell one that “No, man, this can’t be your wishlist.”

It it’s only a wishlist, then why did you pull out a bogus statistic about how much of the playerbase wants mounts? I’m not the one telling him his wishlist is statistically unlikely, with made-up statistics no less. If the guy likes mounts and thinks they would be fun to add to the game, he should be able to say so without persecution and prodding by the antimount forum cult.

from WIKI – A.Net owns GW2 WIKI – just remember.

“Will map travel stay in the game?
Yes. You will be able to instantly travel to any discovered waypoint.
There is a coin fee for using waypoints.
It is only a few coins to travel a short distance.
The larger the distance between your current location and the waypoint, the larger the cost.
The cost will also increase as you reach higher levels.
Asura gates are also available as part of the map travel network and they are free to use. Lion’s Arch contains asura gates to the main cities of all five races.
Initially at release, the cost of waypoints were considered expensive. But with the amount of gold in the economy and ways to obtain it, there should never be a worry that waypoints are too expensive to use unless you use them more than 50 times a day.
Will there be mounts?
No. For traveling long distance, the game will offer the two types of teleports above (waypoints and asura gates), but the game does not have any other methods, i.e. there are no mounts or ships.

…1. Mounts…

No.

this rly has to stop, saying no to mounts is just silly rly. we can have mounts moving at same speed of speed buffs, it will not hurt the game it will not turn gw2 in to wow it will not bring down doom to gw2. dont want a mount? dont get one.

No to mounts. They are NOT IN GAME CURRENTLY. Also A.Net has stated there WAS NO PLANS TO PUT MOUNTS IN THE GAME. What don’t you understand about that?

Mounts are :

1. LORE BREAKING!!! Since there were no mounts in GW lore – how can you really justify them?

2. NOT NEEDED – there are waypoints. There are enough waypoints to get around faster than having a mount.

3. Mechanically and design-wise very hard to add in if there are no mounts in game.

4. NOT WANTED.

5. The game already has issues with slow downs when a large group is fighting (most World Boss fights end up at 10-12 fps and skills have hiccup use). Adding mounts would increase that problem with less people. I would like to run the game on anything other than low settings when in large groups.

6. Speed boosts are part of the balance in the skill system. You want a speed boost, well then you have to compromise what you will not have. This is a huge problem as putting in mounts with a speed boost would automatically negate many builds. Not all professions are supposed to have the speed boost – that is part of the balance equation in the game.

It is annoying that the pro-mount people have no other reason than, "I WANT THEM’. Until you logically argue how mounts WON’T impact the above points, there is no reason to discuss the subject at all. Saying ‘I want them’ is NOT REASON ENOUGH.

lore is made up they can make up something up too to introduce mounts. they never said they wont be mounts in game. any profession can have speed buffs with own skill or speed buff from item shop. seriously u guys sound like religious fanatics. it has to be your way or the ones that want the option to have mounts will be stoned to death.

Yes A.NET did say no mounts – please read GW2 WIKI – it is in there. To ignore that fact is ludicrous to say the least.

We are not religious fanatics at all. But the 15% 1 hor. speed buff is nothing and is over-ridden by the skills (many of them are 2-8 sec. long). The only profession that can have a continuous speed buff is Engineers but then they have to have packs equipped and switch them constantly. There is a reason for the short amount of speed buff as it is to allow combat to occur and also to make sure players are noticing their surroundings. When you play a game with mounts, with a constant speed boost, that type of recognition of the surrounds just goes out the window. Most game with mounts, you see people running past dragging and aggroing everything in their wake. That happens in this game but not to the extent it does in others.

I myself do not want mounts in this game as it a refreshing break from the obnoxious and unruly mount riders.

[Suggestion] for future feature patches

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dusty Moon.4382

I’d like to suggest that the development team for feature packs read the suggestions folder for the long list of solutions players have come up with to both improve and modernize the game. It would go a long way to alleviating anyone’s doubts about feature packs if you report to the players that you care about what they say and are actually implementing some of the suggestions from the suggestion trash bin. Pay close attention to the suggestions from major youtube/game reviews publisher names when it comes to combat, rewards, and systems that the ui lacks.

Unfortunately they already had that system and removed it because it was a lightning rod for the posters.

It is not going to happen that way. They have the CDI and that is as close as one will get to what you want.

Make Vistas work as way points

Dusty Moon.4382

That doesn’t make any sense. Keep Vistas as Vistas. What they should change are the Points of Interest. Instead of just discovering them for exp only, you find it, get its name, Icon appears on top of your map, you press it and you get a page worth of information and historical references of the place in question and a cool picture.

Totally agree with this point.

Will Cantha ever appear in Guild Wars 2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dusty Moon.4382

Cantha WILL NOT be in GW2. Sorry peeps, the Emperor has closed off Cantha when the Dragons rose and Orr was brought back up from the depths. It is part of the lore of GW2. Also, the Tengu left Cantha because of that.

Maybe Cantha would be in GW3.

Since when does Anet care about lore?

They have built the lore. Also – there are hints all over DR as to why there will be no Cantha in GW2. Find those and you will understand.

2 feature packs and 1/2 season, not enough

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dusty Moon.4382

After seeing what we can expect from feature packs, and 1/2 a season of LS2, Its just not enough to make people come back, or keep people playing at the level where they feel invested enough to to spend money on gems.

LS2 is better than before and more interesting, but its not enough to keep many people invested.
The feature packs, so far as i have seen, do not have the type of features that would engage many people.

From my personal perspective, LS2 almost makes me want to play again, but then i just read the spoilers and figure ehh, good enough. After all, i did the first one, and while somewhat interesting after i completed it, there was nothing else in game i wanted to do. A day later or so i did the acheivs, which were kind of bleh in terms of challenge, and super ehhh in terms of rewards. Essentially LS2 is the best aspect of the current system, and its not enough to keep many players engaged.

If this is essentially the blueprint of the future of GW2, ehhhhh

You assume a lot. A.Net doesn’t HAVE to give you a blueprint for what they plan for GW2. After all, they own the game. If you don’t like it, you don’t HAVE to play. After 2 years, I am sure everyone who has played since then will admit that they got their monies worth from the game.

Your opinion is just that – yours. I think the LS2 is a step above what they had for LS1, in general.

Where are the lions?

There’s a “lionguard”.

There’s a “Lion’s arch”.

There are statues and pictures of them all over, but: Where are the lions? Anyone actually seen one?

Oh, and btw, fix clipping on armor for asura and charr and balance the classes. Thanks!

The classes are pretty balanced. This is an MMO and the classes are balanced to be in a group not in single battle. If a game is based on group play, you cannot have both single play balance and group play balanced as it doesn’t exist.

They never fixed clipping issues with armor in GW1. I think that is very low priority on their plate.

1. Mounts – The idea of a mount in a game is to give a lone play some companion on his adventures. You can jump with them, even bring select a different for underwater (remove those Water Speed boosters for Dwayna’s sake!). Mounts tend to run faster then Tyrias so they’d have a permanent 33% speed buff. You can have it to follow you around but it will not interact with anything. If your riding and get in combat you would automatically unmount. You can’t mount in combat. Have Race-specific mounts so there won’t be any clipping issues, position issues and whatnot.

Mounts are not in lore and would be too hard to put in – so I feel it is a NO. Also there were no mounts in GW1 either.

2. Open world housing market – have different housing lots around Tyria where you can buy your lot and enjoy the scenery. Sorry but instanced houses just don’t make it alive.

No – this is dumb. This is not ArcheAge. You already have a personal instance. If you want a house, it will be there.

3. Open world dragon encounters and destruction.
Make Dragons more Living and Destructive. What’s wrong in having a Dragon fly over e.g. Queensdale, burn a few Houses and people, peasants come and attack it and its up to you to push the dragon away. Or at least dragon minions. Just like at The Grove. The word will spread out there’s a Dragon attack happening at XX place.

What is Tequatl, Claw of Jormag, etc? They are open world bosses already.

4. Open world Hunger Royale events spawning at random times and places. The word will spread out fast.

We have Open World events already – what is wrong with them?

5. Introduce all 6 God realms as 10-man dungeons/zones.
We already saw UW and FoW and DoA, but in the end we should be able to enter all 6 of the domains.

The Gods left the world. Read the lore and that is why the Dragons have ascended. The Gods will come back when the Dragons are killed off

6. Living Story heading to Mursaat Lands (we got infused), Charr Homeland, Deldrimor Front, Woodland Cascades, Far Shiverpeaks, Rings of Fire.

AHH – we are fighting Dragons. Mordremorth is next. Then it sounds like the Crystal Desert will be next after that. Read and listen to the LS2 storyline.

7. Make Living Story leading to a new Continent. (Expansion)
We all want major content releases with a bunch of new skills, new weapons, higher level cap (we are getting stronger after all with ll the dragon magic releasing back to Tyria), new races and new threats. LS is cool and all but we want to feel the rush again, when starting in a new place with new plots. Dragons can’t possibly be the only thing happening in Tyria(The World).
Here’s an idea, have a LS/PS going towards Kralkatorrik and if we successfully beat him/drive him away we get an open path to Elona. IF we conquer the sea and deal with Deep Sea Dragon we got an open naval path to Shing Jea and Cantha.

Kralkatorrik is in the Crystal Desert and we are going there. Cantha WILL NOT BE OPNE UNTIL THE DRAGONS ARE GONE – AGAIN LORE!!

8. Please give some love to PvPers. Give them GvG’s and Hall of Heroes. You had a huge popularity hit with these modes and they should be brought back. Alliance Battles a.k.a. sPvP stuff were more popular with PvErs when we wanted a Town for our Guild. These are some hits GW1 had and should be brought back because, if anything, bringing back popular GW1 stuff (Tormented/Chaos) also were hits in GW2.

HoH is gone because the Gods are gone. You can already PvP – so get over it.

This game is not GW1. If you want GW1 it is still there and will survive as long as GW2 is going. Nothing you have posted is reasonable or involved with the storylines that A.Net has postulated in GW2 or in the novels.

Wow, man. That’s…surprisingly rude for a response. Basically telling the guy who has really provided some solid (if not perfect) feedback and just basically telling him: “It won’t happen. Eat what’s on your plate or GTFO”

No – the point is, he hasn’t really noticed or understood the lore told in game. Most of his points will not happen with the way the lore has been done for GW2. If the OP did – his post wouldn’t exist. Example he said open world bosses, we have them already. He said fight Dragons, The Open World bosses are Dragon minions and more than likely the LS2 will end with a Dragon fight against Mordremoth. As far as HoH, etc. they were all based on the 6 gods being involved with the world and they are not any more. Until they return, there will be no HoH.

The OP still wants GW2 as a GW1 game and that will not happen. One is a single player game (GW1) and one is an MMO.

My wish list is incredibly smaller and more fitting:

1) DPS Staff option for Mesmer

There is a DPS staff – it is a exotic crafted – Beserker’s anyone?

2) Better necromancer minions

No Minions are already too much of a crutch for most Necros and it would be too OP

3) A medium armorset inspired by Saidra

I want some of the armor sets from GW1 – direct

Those would just about satisfy me.
