Nice making 2 threads on it – see ya – you will be banned.
EotM IS NOT a PvE map. If anything it is a hybrid to teach people about siege, etc without actually being on a true WvW map.
The attitude that EotM is a PvE map is just sad.
Edge of the Mists, yep this area is killing off WvW. I know there will be people annoyed as heck reading this….but Anet need to reduce rewards in EoTM by 80%.
WHAAAT nooo way i can already hear it.
What is the purpose of Eotm? Its supposed to function as an overflow, mess about, lounge room area, while waiting to ENTER WvW.
I was in Eotm while qued for EB and busted on an episode while following the zerg around. I could not believe how much i was being rewarded for killling time holy hanna.
MORE badges then WvW, more Kama then WvW, more WXP then WvW, more levels gained, more everything.
No wonder there are sooo many people in here.
And then there are alot of days where i will be roaming the borderlands with a friend and not see more then 2-3 server allies, for hours on end.
What the hell Anet Eotm contributes close to nothing for the WvW’ers, just takes people away from it.
Oh yer iam on Jade Quarry, thats right a TIER 1 server, just in case someone was bout to say move to a more populated server.
Right now everyone brings their low levels here to level up, you can level up 1-80 in couple of days.
Reduce the rewards massively and lets get some life back into WvW.
iam prepared for the salty response.Oh btw, no thanks for making this seasons achievements so boring and easy, took like 10min when i was qued in Eotm while watching eps.
Erm STOP asking for income/reward nerfs in EotM.
Ask WvW rewards to be put on par with them (it’s long overdue, should have been that from the start) but not nerfs in EotM.
On top of that the day you kill EotM (killing the rewards do that) you’ll get those “nice” upscalled and PvE heroes/rally bots back on your servers taking spots from seasoned veterans WvWers and bringing back queues and you’ll come back crying how awful it is.
Leave EotM alone, most people there are either :
- people leveling their toons (it’s roughly 80% upscalled when you aren’t green running with the SFR EotM Heroes on EU)
- People farming Badges/WxP while still getting other income
- People doing something while they can’t in WvW because there is no one there or they are getting hammered through the 666 Hell Levels for the 50+th week in a row)If you aren’t happy with EotM, don’t play it. But be realistic the VAST majority of EotM players won’t go to WvW is you kill rewards and leveling there, they’ll go to the next best leveling/farming spot, and/or slowly stop playing because they won’t force themselves through yet another grind of leveling/farming again.
Why leave EotM alone? It is a WvW map after all. If people want to Karma train there, they need to understand that they will be fodder for the people who do WvW. People who do go there, they NEED to understand it really is a training ground for WvW, not just a place to gain Karma and level.
The blobs just avoiding fighting each other is a little pathetic and sad.
What do you have running in the background? 8 GB should be plenty of memory unless you have a memory hoggy program like iTunes running (which is poorly written for the PC) or Norton AV (or any of the other major AV programs – Kaspersky, comes to mind). Make sure you have the minimum programs running in the background.
Also AA is done in Cry3 Engine, which is a bit more portable than the GW2 engine.
Ignoring us? Sometimes it feels like they’re poking us with a stick and laughing at how we react.
Y’all are a little too sensitive. A.Net has to do what THEY FEEL is important to the game. Often times, it is the players who have blinders on and only see the small part that deals with them not the game as a whole.
I just have one thing for devs: Guys pls stop making game easier.
It is just they are making the same the same in China and the rest of the world. It makes it easier for the developers to work now, since they only really have to deal with one game (just do the translation is all).
GW2 is not a game that would be played in China as it is not such a grind compared to other games popular there – Lineage 2, etc. That is why they had such a tutorial. They decided to roll it out for all of us but it seems that Veteran players are complaining and that is not who this part is designed for.

Mesmers – Make it so that at level 80 you only have 1 of the 3 illusion slots unlocked. For the other two, make it so that they have to grind out dungeons or commit X amount of hours into playing the character.
RIP Mesmer
It takes nightmarish time and effort to kill anything on mesmer as is.
not really – just need to play different – too many people depended on shatter as their main damage output.
I wish Anet would dump or lock all the “I QUIT” threads. They bring nothing to the table but negativity. The very nature of these posts is divisive and their intent is to stir up angst among everyone.
That’s what a dictator would do. You know, like Kim Jong-un?
People don’t just post “I quit”. They post "I quit because of…
Sorry – they post “I Quit” because they reel they are ‘ENTITLED’ to do so. I left D3 – I didn’t post anything – I just left – done. Same with Rift. Why do these people feel the need to say, "Put in the game what I want or I will not play’ is a childish and immature attitude born on the backs of getting everything they want and never working for it. It is really a spoilt child mentality. What are they going to do next, hold their breaths until they get what they want or throw a temper tantrum? (oh wait that is what the OP did).
A.Net already got you to buy the box. They have no reason to expect you to spend any more money than that. You should also expect no more than that either besides bug fixes, etc. Also, they are still putting patches out free – people never complained when Apple charges for patches to their OS, they just pay and gleefully.
Geez people, A.net said early on that they will be trying something different with GW2. They learned that expansions are NOT the best way to push forward things. After all in Factions you could get to lvl 20 in 2 hrs or less. People were eating through those expansions fast and then complaining that there wasn’t enough content.
People were also clamoring for a living world – one in which places changed. Well, A.Net has tried to combine both. Was it successful, the jury is still out but at least it is different. The world does feel more like a living world compared to the likes of ArcheAge and ESO, both which feel dead as doornails.
Currently, no company will make all of their players happy. It goes with the attitude, that I bought your game, you need to keep me entertained forever.
If A.Net put permanent content in ( which they have, BTW – Southsun Cove and Dry Top are examples), people still complain. If they made an expansion, the same people claiming they want one will complain that it wasn’t enough or crummy or some other reason. Most posters come here just to complain.
LOL – you guys always blaming one end pipe but not the middle. Also the servers are housed in an office in Dallas, TX – NCSoft’s server farm.
If it was the servers, EVERYONE would be having issues. I haven’t. I think it is your ISP – have Comcast in the south? Look to see if they are throttling your connection…..
Here is jpg captured just now from pingplotter – notice the one router with 100% packet loss? That could be an issue…..

well we loved , GVG HoH, Capes , Anet run mats/sats/dats , Hardmode , End game worlds
Lots of builds/templates/skills
all i can think of for now
No Hardmode – too hard with an open world like GW2.
GvG – can do it already – make an sPvP arena and 5 v 5 away.
In a living game world, there IS NO END GAME. END GAME, just means that, end of game.
HoH – well since the 6 Gods are gone from the world, there can be no HoH.
Not going to happen. The game is DX 9.0C and unless it would be ported to Open GL, well it ain’t going to happen.
I don’t have any issues with this system – Exotics are supposed to be RARE and not easy to get.
While i despise the idea of gear grind I have to say that this game does need more hardcore end-game content.
And the rewards should match the difficulty – I mean better rewards than other areas but most importantly exclusive rewards in the form of skins.
In a vanity-oriented skin-powered game we need more skins that say “I’m a super awesome and dedicated player” than just one set of weapons (Fractal Weapons).
We need things like UW/FOW in difficulty that come with skins that show off your achievements and also a better gold reward.
I’m not saying introduce more gear grind ( because I hate it too – and love that this game is not WoW 2.0) – but give people the chance to shine and be admired for their effort and skin!
But you will hear that players who dont do this special hardcore content dont get special rewards and it is unfair casue everone should have everthing . Community in this game is getting noobier everyday. When I saw people who wanted liadri mini in gem store because they couldnt kill true liadri , I just wanted to cry .
It is not getting noobier but it is getting more self-centered. Mostly, what I see in threads like this, ‘I want this in game!’. Not thinking how it affects everyone else, etc.
your comment is says exactly that.
There weren’t 2-handed axes in GW1 – why would there be 2-handed axes in GW2?
Torch skill 5 is amazing in WvW – please leave it like it is.
Yes, ofc, the whole spec is a bit meh because it’s entirely about getting attacked 1v1. But that’s the same right now.
It’s actually getting a lot of help in that last department from both the Scepter changes, and the fact that you’re highly likely to trait IE instead of the usual 4pts in Domination. This way you can top 1800+ Condie damage in sPvP (w/SoD) w/o Might, which gives you 780+ damage burns.
Runners will have it slightly harder with the Torment from Scepter AA & Clones, and overall you’re not as reliant on the clunky/situational Scepter #2 block to get decent damage output. Both the Staff and Scepter will be able to do significant damage on their own, without relying on Clone deaths.
My guess is, despite the nerfs, it will still be stronger 1v1 then the current PU, and most likely also a tad stronger still in 1v2 or even 1v3. Although, survivability will suffer quite a bit, so 1v3 is a bit harder to judge until we play the changes.
While that was a good assessment you forgot to take into consideration all the confusion, bleeding etc… that they will also be able to put up.
Really though its not the amount of condition damage a mesmer can put up its the fact they will be able to stack it so fast & reapply it quickly in the event you manage to cleanse it.
That combined with the fact a mesmer can stealth and hide makes them a real pain to deal with.
Really instead of letting clones apply torment with scepter AA #1 they should have just let the #2 & #3 AA apply it for longer duration then what it will after patch.
This would allow you to build up as much or possibly more torment then what you could with clones applying a short duration one.
But it would take slightly longer to build up meaning that cleanses wouldn’t be useless.
Problem is with Perplexity runes and condition extension – having torment on scepter skill 2 and 3 would be so OP.
This is just a way to make the scepter another viable weapon for mesmers. So many use GS and swords only.

Improvements for “veteran” players are important because they’re good for everyone. A new player will feel QoL updates aimed at veteran players regardless, because the people that have been playing for two years now have been asking for things that will benefit the game AS A WHOLE.
Also, I really don’t know why people think these changes are meant to “attract” new players? GW2 had one of the best leveling experiences in any mmo, and Anet has only made it worse with their updates and revamps. Someone said gw2 pulls in new players just fine, but can’t keep them, and these changes for sure won’t help that.
As A.Net said in a reddit post, they want things similar for vets and new players. It makes it easier to put in new items, content, etc. if they don’t have to deal with 2 distinct systems.
Come join the CRZY guild – good people and will train how to WvW.
The problem is there are tons of DDOS attacks going on and hacks. for example the security breach recently announced at Home Depot. There is the ArcheAge breach also. All of these attacks take internet bandwidth.
I would also look to see if your ISP is throttling your connection. Comcast and others have started doing that. Throttling would affect your lag, etc.
New players pay the bills – that is important for ANY game. If you think not, then why is WoW touting one month free (even though this is the norm for a sub game) of play before their new patch comes live.
Game companies NEED new players.
But not enough to keep me playing.
I’ve been playing since release. 2 years now. I’ve been an avid supporter of this game since forever. Spent more money than I care to think about. And while living story has temporarily changed or modified some of the zones we’ve been staring at for the past 2 years, and added a whopping one (southsun), I need something fresh and new.
Dry Top was neat – but it was and still is being released so slowly that I’m already burnt out on going to that zone. WvW hasn’t changed except for one new map that’s a giant yawn fest. And PvP hasn’t changed, save rewards. Same maps. For 2 years. (except the one everyone hates)
An MMO needs more substantial change, more frequently. This is the only MMO I’ve ever heard of that hasn’t released a major expansion in it’s first 2 years. With seemingly zero plans to do so in the near future.
Time for a break. This is my feedback.
You guys move more slowly than Blizzard does.
You do understand they said, they wanted to try something different? That is what they are doing. The problem with expansions is the original faults and bugs in the game, never really get fixed as the company moves onto the expansion.
A.net said 6 months into the game, no expansions. I don’t get what people don’t understand.
Unless you like world completion and world bosses. I mean, it is not all that hard to try to actively unlock all traits, just time consuming.
Karka Queen is the only world boss that unlocks a trait, I believe. Guess how easy it is to find dungeon groups or do wvw objectives without traits? How much time needs to be consumed by this system? It’s exactly the same for each profession, so how many professions should new players have to slog through this system on? It’s not just world completion and world bosses, it’s dungeons, group events, bugged events, jumping puzzles, personal story steps, and map completions.
Sorry no – all the Orr events unlock traits also….
Chain events – there are maps with Chained events – Think Harathi Hinterlands and Orr. This is already done. And yes the Orr invasion is a cross map event.
I mean nothing you have suggested makes the game interesting. Many people would say that what you are suggesting makes the game more dull.
To be blunt:
For Mounts
Customization.
Added feature that can be profited from
Faster land travel when waypoints are contestedAgainst Mounts
Swiftness.
Waypoints are strategically placed so that any contested points have alternatives that are close by.
Transport fee is a gold sink.
Added asset burden.
Seems to be against lore. Instant Transport is favored over riding animals.
Putting mounts in the shop will possibly give ‘free’ players reason to complain if the give a gameplay advantage over not purchasing a mount.
‘Free’ players? we are all free players, you have to buy the game to play. The CS items should be ‘optional’ not needed and so far they are.
And you really shouldn’t buy all the traits. Unlock the ones that are easy for you by doing stuff, buy the ones you need and don’t feel like unlocking the other way.
That advice only really works on veterans who have already experimented with all the traits for a the profession in question; you can’t really tell someone on a new character, playing a class they’ve never experienced before, to “buy the ones you need”, because how can they know what they need without trying it first? A lot of traits only sound good on paper and tend to turn out to be rather lackluster when actually used.
Anet claimed they made the change to encourage more experimentation and build diversity, but it seems like such a backward way to go about it: limiting options to encourage diversity.
I think you are missing the point. Many players only use a ‘zerker’ build in PvE and WvW (although there are many useful builds). This way, just unlock what you need for your build and move on.
It is not wasted. The problem was before, the traits really weren’t figured in when you were in combat, so they just readjusted the system.
You only need to get the traits you need for a build, it makes it so much easier and complicated.
Hello !
For roleplay purpose, it could be nice if we get an option at Home instance portal to just pass through the gate with a third button. Plenty of place wasted where people could roleplay together.
Just about Salma district ! There’s an hospital, an orphanage, a manor, houses, and an inn.
A complete district where people could roleplay, which already exist behind the door but wasted because of the gate. It’s the same thing for Hero’s Canton, Applied Development Lab, Hunter’s Hearth, and Dreamer’s Terrace.
They are basically the same. Each Race needs it’s own home area.
It’s an absolute waste of resources. Add that to your list please.
how is this a waste of resources if they sell mounts in the cash shop? The Celestial Steed, World of Warcrafts first cash shop mount, earned them over 2 million dollars in the first four hours of release. GW2 does not have the amount of players that WoW did, but it should not take long for the first cash shop mount in GW2 to start earning a positive return.
Mounts could easily just be a 25% speed buff. This would give every class the option of having a passive 25% speed buff while out of combat. You get hit while on the mount and it knocks you off.
We currently have the riding broom. This functions perfectly as a mount, has the right restrictions, the only thing it lacks is a 25% speed buff.
So please explain how mounts would be a waste of resources when we already have one in the game?
WoW already HAD mounts in game. This game does not. The Pro-mount people NEVER want to admit that adding mounts is not as easy as a new weapon skin. There would be a whole lot of modeling, etc. to be put into the game.
Also, I NEVER WANT A SPEED BOOST OVER 33% – mounts with 100%? NO!!!! A.Net said that speed boosts, in game, were capped at 33%.
Mounts would just make this game chug even more, than it already does. Until more game engine optimizations are in game, mounts would really make this game unplayable.
I enjoy a world were there are no mounts. It is a nice breath of fresh air. There are plenty of games with mounts.
We already have a mount in the game. The Witches Broom works perfectly as a mount. The only thing it lacks is a 25% speed buff.
The only legitimate reason they should focus a bit on mounts is to earn revenue. Mounts are a big seller in MMOs, even if the mount only gives you a 25% speed buff over base speed.
Not every class has access to a trait or skill for a passive 25% speed buff, mounts would even this field out at least for players out of combat. I don’t think we need anything faster than 25%, any faster and it would be nearly impossible for some classes to catch an enemy player in WvW
The witches broom is not a true mount – it is like the costume brawls and it is called a toy. Try riding it outside of town – not that useful – it is like the kites, etc. just some fluff.
All professions have some type of speed buff, even if it is temporary. That is part of the balance in the game. You want to be a Mesmer and have a speed buff, well use that off-hand focus.
As I said, many times, the business model here is B2P – that means getting all the money they need by selling the game. The rest , like the CS, is just gravy on top. One doesn’t need ANYTHING from the CS to play the game. If the mounts were CS only, many players would start calling this game P2W!
The only feature the Witches Broom lacks is a speed buff.
it is not considered a mount. A.Net already stated that.
Once you put mounts in, it is the slippery slope. Then people want 100% speed buffs, then fighting off of mounts, etc. Mounts would complicate an already nice and flowing system. The whole combat mechanism would have to be rethought. Also the balance between all the professions would have to be redone. Mounts would mean less build difference when people are complaining that ‘Zerker rules all’ is the most common problem in the game.
It is similar to the A.Net EULA rule which states that anything that would give a player a competitive advantage, no matter how small, is not allowed. I think they may be using this rule for themselves also. Mounts would give an unfair advantage (in the pro-mount group’s thinking).

The level restriction is not arbitrary – ectos are used to make Exotic and Rare items. Just because you use them, doesn’t mean you will get them back.
Tossing out the Ecto lvl would totally throw the whole game economy into a tail spin. This is what happened in GW1. No – I don’t want that.
The obvious answer is you CAN duel – make your own arena and duel away.
PvP was designed to standardize all the equipment so one does not have more bonuses than another player.
I don’t think we know how many players want dueling – I know I sure don’t.
End Game means just that END OF GAME. Personally, I want the game to continue and to evolve.
I dislike the classic end game content – RAIDS and GEAR TREAD MILL. Hence why I like this game – I get Exotic armor and I am done.
Reality -Oft times there are things that can’t be done with the game engine, etc. What looks like a good idea sometimes isn’t in the long run, etc.
A.Net made a decent game. Let’s see what they do in the 3rd yr.
The “revamped” trait system and level-gating of basic features were all problems that people widely complained about in the Chinese release of this game. Why are they being back-ported to North American and European releases under the guise of “new features”?
The trait system had nothing to do with China and everything to do with people who wanted to hunt for skills, like in GW1. Well they got what they wanted and now they are complaining about it.
Also, it is easier to have one basic game, just with language differences than it is to have multiple versions of the game. I don’t blame them in the least for doing it. It makes common sense.
Most people think the game is easy to figure out and the zones are fine now. Don’t need anything too kitten.
Here’s the TL;DR for today’s update: Still nothing substantial for experienced players.
You don’t know as was stated by an A.Net person in another thread, the blog post today was to specifically talk about what they are doing for new players. That is the point. They make money bringing new players in, (you buy the box or DL you know) as they did with GW1. I for one can’t wait to see how that will end up.
ANet, What do you have against us?
We went through the somewhat lackluster personal story, getting even more lackluster rewards. Now you announce that you’re updating the rewards to be mildly interesting, but those of us who already completed it get absolutely nothing. This is only one of many gripes about the announcements so far, but this one seems particularly irritating.
“A Fresh Start” is an interesting choice of words. If you continue to alienate the people who have supported this game (financially and otherwise), recommended it to friends, and done everything they can to be helpful to new players in-game, then it really will be a fresh start, because there won’t be veterans around anymore. This should not be read as a threat; I don’t have immediate plans of leaving, but I think I speak for most vets when I say that, especially on the 2nd anniversary of the game, it would be nice to feel appreciated as a loyal player. With more than a title and a cake gun, that is.
Follow up question: What use is it to make a blog post that only really affects people who don’t yet play the game?
EDIT: Now that this thread has a red post (merci, Stephane!), I’d like to request we try to keep the discussion civil. It’s OK to be disappointed, but it’s not OK to be a jerk about it.
I am a veteran player and I don’t see this at all. I guess YOU DON’T SPEAK FOR EVERYONE.
Considering there really is no good way to obtain keys currently, if this does in fact remove them from story rewards, it’ll feel like an intentional slap in the face.
1. Pull out credit card
2. Open Gem store
3. Buy pack of Black Lion KeysKeys are supposed to be their main source of RNG revenue… it was never intended for people to get them for free.
rolls eyes
The gemstore in general is the “main source” of revenue. I highly doubt keys are a main source within that. If they were, you’d see them adding kitten to the chests a heck of a lot more often. Instead we see more armors, weapons, outfits, minis, and dyes.
According to a lot of your posts, Zudet, the players aren’t intended to get anything for free. Stop with the money creep scares.
The ‘BOX’ is the main source of income as everyone who plays the game has to buy it. The CS is extra income not the primary income. No one has to buy anything from the CS to play this game.
The box is not the main source of income. You think a modern MMO company can sustain itself on a box fee, along with paying all the essential personnel involved in MMOs,
That is how a B2P game works – need to read up on your business models. If the CS was the main source, why you they have you pay for the box in the forst place. Also, GW1 hasn’t dropped much in price since it first came out.
Considering there really is no good way to obtain keys currently, if this does in fact remove them from story rewards, it’ll feel like an intentional slap in the face.

You can – it is in options in game.
People really want this game to tank? I thought they would want the game to do well so they can get what they want in the game.
This is the successor to Guild Wars, but there’s no guild bases. no guild capes?
D:
Guild Wars name is based on LORE not the fact that GvG, etc was in the game. That was a coincidence only.
How many times will this be commented on…..
YOU CAN GvG in game, just not instanced like GW1. There are plenty of places to do it and guilds that do GvG are doing it in those places.
(edited by Dusty Moon.4382)
They could easily add a little instance in the main cities for GH’s. I thought about this and probably could add it near the Queens Arena – there was a portal there unused.
We have a home instance – it wouldn’t bee too hard to do but nothing fancy like what some of these people want. Too much time to put into game fluff.
Well it is a projectile
Come Join us Friday after reset to see how our guild WvW’s.
Both need a time out then. Please both go stand in a corner and wait until we say you can move again.
WAH! I need mounts so I can’t be dragged in. Well you were in their agro circle. Having mounts won’t change that – if you think it will you really need to play another game.
The higher in level the mobs in the area are the larger the agro circle. Having mounts won’t change that. Also, if they did put mounts in, I would hope they would develop skills for the mods that would deal with mounted players.
I think this really states why the pro-mount people want them, so they can run past other mobs just to farm the champions in a map. One more reason NOT to have mounts.!!
